A blond haired Japanese girl sitting front-to-front with her partner, a small mysterious puppet Digimon. As there's no face nor any sort of feature resembling a face, it's unknown what she's thinking about, but as for the girl, even with her slightly poker face, one could see some worries clouding her expression. Snow keeps piling outside the Trailmon, and there's no sign of it stopping... Karin sighed. Why was she's here again? Why the heck she took the train to this village? What is she looking for? She have no idea... she should've gone to the beach, but why she's avoiding it like plague? Did she perhaps... afraid that she'll be found by someone she knew or at least know her?
"...Mistress... what is in your mind?"
"...Mmm... Chessmon... Which is colder? Me or the snow?"
"...?"
"Nevermind, treat it as some random musing."
The blond haired girl remembered why she was here. She wonder if she has become a good friend... but worrying such is useless, hence she decided to be alone for the meantime. Alone, without anyone she know nearby, sans her partner who she told to keep silent for the meantime. She want to know if it's true that she's colder than the snow, or maybe, the snow is colder than her afterall... She want to change, but at the same time, her heart still traumatized of that incident. Can she trust those new people that seem extend their hand on her? Can she stay beside them without backstabbing them, using them as scapegoat should everything become too scary to behold?
"...I hope I'm warmer than snow," she muttered.

Yaku was, once more, out of money. He remembered the Northern province as one of the first locations he'd been stranded in in the digital world. It was cold, cruel, and hard. Much like the desert before it, the endless tundra was a deathtrap to weary adventurers and seasoned veterans alike. He shuddered as he imagined how many humans and digimon had died to the cruel and frosty mistress that was mother nature. As he trudged through the snow, barely keeping himself warm, he wore his layers of clothing, much like he'd done during the freezing nights in the aforementioned desert. Snowblindness was another problem he'd faced when walking the treacherous tundra, but he'd found a way around it by digging a hole in the multiple piles of snow and napping to allow his eyes to recoup. This fixed his eyes but left him vulnerable more often than not, so he'd only done it when absolutely necessary. Mirages were another issue. The sunlight playing tricks on Yaku's eyes had nearly lead to his untimely demise by rushing into a gorge or tumbling off a cliff more than once. His solution was calling out to the perceived location, praying and hoping that a reply would come.
This was the case with Snowflake Village. He'd heard of such a location on one of his first rides on a trailmon, when his only options to pass time was to read through whatever scraps of paper were lying around and listen in on conversations of fellow passengers... of course, the second option had gotten him tossed off the train, so he'd decided not to do that again. "HELLO!" The Japanese businessman shouted, hoping for a response. "Hello! Is anyone there? I've been wandering for a very long time now!"

A voice... She definitely hear a voice. Luckily, the snowfall here is better than the other part of the icy part of the Digital World (as in, it doesn't outright drown the voice). Karin pressed emergency brake. What is she doing? She have no idea herself, but somehow, something urges her to help. Something been bothering her, and it's all thanks to the fact that she thinks she's in nowhere important to her friends... no, it's more like she felt she's being failure as one. But what she gains from helping someone, without thinking the consequence? It could be trap... and here she is, sprang to action while donning her warm clothes and ear muffler.
"Hey, Missy! What are you think you're doing!? Why the sudden emergency brake!?" the Trailmon asked, obviously not pleased at the girl's action.
"I heard someone asking for help! Just tell me where the village is and I'll go there myself!!" Karin shouted.
"Just follow the train route---O-Oi, Missy! What are you doing!? If you do that, you might---"
She cannot hear the rest of the Trailmon's voice, as she's already far away. With Pawnchessmon beside her, Karin tried to gauge the distance of the voice. Where? Where could that person be?
"HEEEEYYYYY!!" she shouted back, hoping that the one who trying tor each out somebody will shout once more so she know where he'll be. "I HEARD YOU!! WHERE ARE YOU!?"

The squealing of the stopping train did not do a lot to inspire courage in Yaku, mostly filling him with terror and worry over what he'd done. But thankfully, the voice of the Trailmon arguing with someone made him realize he was not under attack, but had found civilization. "Here! Over here!" Yaku shouted, starting to run towards the source of the voice. He held onto his toupee and briefcase, having done everything in the past few weeks to keep from losing them, even putting them above his own life in terms of importance. As the businessman waved at the approaching figure, hoping it wasn't his mind playing with him, his tone had changed from a shout for help to a voice of relief. "I need help! I've been wandering the tundra for a long time!" He waved and waved, finally coming into Karin's view.
Tridori had grown some stubble from a lack of shaving, now an owner of a five-o'clock shadow. One lens in his glasses was missing, never to be recovered by the businessman again. His cloths were stained with melted snow and his own sweat, and everything else was covered in snowflakes blowing in from the winter. As he finally stood before her, he bowed politely. "Hello, Thank you for coming to save me. I've been stranded in the digital world for almost a month and this entire world is just an endless circle... I am Tridori Yaku, forgive me for my appearance and having brought you into this weather." Despite what he'd said and what he appeared to be, Yaku was trying his best to be polite and thoughtful.

"Nevermind that. Are you OK? Looks like the Trailmon won't wait for us as it's following the schedule, but... I heard that if we follow this train line, we might arrive in the Snowflake Village in no time... That aside... Don't you have a Digimon partner? Or are you a Digimon yourself?" Karin asked the stranger. However, hearing that he's been stranded here quickly made the blond haired girl think that this man most likely a human... a human that if he got no partner, was way too unfortunate to be true. Still, a month? That's a long time... if he's been a month here without partner, then... he might be screwed. Royally screwed.
"...Sorry for asking repeatedly, but what date is it when you came here?" Karin asked.
She just hoped the time in Digital World is merciful to him. That, or probably this man would be really in huge trouble. Does he have a family? Does he have a child that waiting for him in home? If he does, then... for all that is holy, she hoped that it's truly one month or less than what he told her...
"Standing here won't do good. Sorry for the late introduction, but my mistress here is Takamiya Karin. I'm her partner, Chessmon, pleasure to meet you, Tridori-dono. It's best that we walk while we talk, or we'll be freezing here. It's great if we could find some cave to rest, too, as we didn't bought spare warm coats."

"Y-yes... I'm cold and lost b-but I'm fine otherwise... I believe. Finding a village would always be a good thing, however... unless it's cannibals... th-they don't have those here... d-do they?" The businessman asked, realizing he had another thing to worry about in the digital world. Then came the inevitable digimon question. "N-no... I-I don't have a partner... or even one of those... vice things I see so many kids with..." He sighed, looking at the girl's body language, he could assume she was pitying him. He liked being pitied, it's far better than being taken advantage of or being bullied... well, he didn't ENJOY it, he just preferred it to most reactions he'd gotten so far.
"D-date? Um... lemme think... J-july 23rd... yes, that sounds about right... It's only b-been a month... oh, I wonder how my wife is doing..." He mumbled, clutching to his briefcase as a gust of wind rolled by. He turned his attention to the small mon, nodding in agreement. "Y-yeah... l-let's go for a w-walk..."

Well, crap... Karin thought as her expression grows darker. How to break it to him that he's been gone for a month and half instead? Plus, he seem really love his wife... poor man, I just hope he can reunite with her soon... but for now, best to tell him what's up. Best have him know what date is today...
"Tridori-san, please calm down and keep walking while I speak..." Karin tried to calm the man down as she walked to the direction of the railroad. "The good new is... you're not that far off, which is pretty good as I heard there's rumor of someone missing for years... it might be hoax because it's some idle myth... but..." she turned back at him and stares at the man sadly. "The bad news is... you've been gone for a month and half now. Summer break already over. Digital World is a funny place as time can fluctuates to unknown speed... whether it became slower or faster, it's up to this world's whim. So in the real world... it's... already 13th September."
"...The second good news is, I think Mistress is willing to help you go back home... but to do that, you have to stick very closely to us... because I'm sure that you'll be some wild Digimon's food if you wander off by yourself. Not to mention, it's snowing like this... you could die of hypothermia. Please, do not attempt anything by yourself."

Yaku looked at her, confused. He seemed perfectly calm... cold, but calm. Had he accidentally raised his voice at one point? The tone in her voice made him slightly worried. Then she dropped the bombshell... well, it wasn't much of a bombshell, really. It was more like a cherry bomb or small firecracker. Sure, it'd still hurt if you were too close too it, but it was hardly a devastating weapon... well, normally it wouldn't be, let's not get into this. "A... y-years? You mean I-" He breathed a sigh of relief when she gave him the actual amount of time. A month and a half? Well, that certainly was a much better reality. "Thank goodness... y-you scared me, a lot... n-next time start with the bad news..." He'd never imagine what it would be like if he was trapped for years. He'd either be like Bruce Campbelle in Captain Supermarket or a pile of bones in a shallow grave, forgotten by everyone but those who speak urban legends of a false name. As he imagined how he'd die in the digital world, be it of a horrible injury or slowly and painfully collapsing from a lack of nutrients he was thankfully brought out of it by Chessmon.
"M-mistress?" He asked, slightly disturbed that this small child had claimed that title. "Y-you mean her? ...N-nevermind. I would love to go back to Japan... th-this place is a wonderful one to visit but..." Aaaand there came the thoughts of how he'd die again, all flooding back and leading him to another deathly silence as he tried to stay warm. "Ch-chessmon, w-was it? M-maybe I w-we should change th-the subject... n-not to be rude, I-I just think enough a-about my own mortality as it is... dreams about it every night, if you will..."

"...Not that way. Calling your female master with something like 'master' is kind of wrong for me... of course, 'Mistress' sounds better, but not that way... even it it sounds ambiguous. But, it's just my way of addressing her. Lady doesn't sounds nice enough and Madam... well, too much. Also, very glad that you understand the consequence of such action, Tridori-dono. I'm very sorry for my insensitive remarks before, but there are just peoples who still attempt to goes their own way despite being helped like this. It's great that we gained mutual understanding," Chessmon nodded, although it's funny because this 'mon got no face to indicate her current emotions.
"Well, then, that aside, Tridori-san, as far as I can see, there are no cannibals or such in Digital World. remember, most the population are Digimon. While I know several Digimons are up for killing anything on sight. I doubt that Trailmons would run where there are dangers like man-eater villages..." Karin tried to assure the man. Somehow, instead of her usual irritable self, when she heard this man talking, there's just something inside her that really pity this guy. He seem to be in a lot of misfortunes.
Karin walked to direction where the Trailmon had took off just now. Meanwhile, Chessmon readies herself from behind should anything bad happened.
"...So, Tridori-dono, how do you actually survive here without Digimon? I found that feat... highly impressive for a human, no matter what age and build."

"I-I've seen them, th-the crazy villagers... I-I've had to flee for my life into the mansion of tears... i-it's a rather... um, bad story... b-but it got better once I got there... a-as for survival..." He looked down, continuing to follow them. "I-it's not a tale of bravery or masculinity, it's not a story of courage or revenge, or even one of pride... I-I just... a month and a half ago I met this woman named Vetina. S-she was a very kind, if gluttonous, woman... I-i mean, she liked to eat... th-that's not a crime... I mean... she was a very good woman. I met her in the park where I usually stopped to have my lunch break. Over the course of the next few days we became close friends and... she revealed she was a digimon a-and... th-that's when I learned of this world and that... um... that Digimon have been living amongst humans by using disguises and things... She told me that I should come here a-and see what it's like... i-it was... um..." He coughed. "Anyway, I had gotten lost in the city and separated from her. Th-that's when I tried to take the trailmon home... i-it didn't work... I ended up wandering the digital world for weeks and... eventually I found this map b-but..." He took out the napkin map and tried to hand it to them. "It's not exactly... usable."
He sighed. "But... the question was of how I survived... um... well... I-I just... wandered. I used to watch survivalist TV shows once in a while back home b-but I never really paid much attention to them s-so I only picked up one or two tricks... U-usually I to find some friendly digimon a-and try to work my way o-out of my comfort zone and try to talk to them... a-and eventually I'll ask them if I could sleep in their house or have a meal... I-it's much harder to do this out here than in th-the jungle w-where you're likely to run into a b-biyomon or tentomon I think they're called..." The businessman explained, sighing. "Th-though when I wake up screaming is generally the time I get thrown out..."

...That was a really harsh life, that's for sure? Karin have no idea what to say to the man that could be about ten years her senior. If she's in the same situation to his, she'll probably be in much greater stress... Now all she wanted to know... how the heck does he seem doesn't shrivel down to size of a pea, or probably lock himself somewhere in a safe city instead of travelling in Digital World alone and unprotected?
"...Um, I cannot say anything much, but... I think there's nothing bad in running away for survival," Karin commented. "The thing is, I'm never expecting something like great tale of bravery, and would definitely called you a liar if you tried to impress me with tales I thought way too tall."
"...Erm, strange question," Chessmon suddenly interjected. "Why would you come to Digital World if it's just from a friend's recommendation? I know that sounds really impolite, but what I mean is... Aren't you worried of your job and everything else, Tridori-dono?"

Yaku looked at chessmon again and sighed. "Before she'd suggested coming to the digital world my boss had a nervous breakdown and was replaced... the new boss suggested it was simply koroshi and gave us the weekend off. It was... unusual, but I was not one to argue with a good thing... or, anything, really... I-it was supposed to be one day. I was supposed to be exploring Terminus City with her watching over me... b-but someone showed up and took her away a-and suddenly I was surrounded by tiny digimon a-and... it was supposed to be an afternoon trip. I-I told my wife I went to see a movie, b-but... now I'm here a month and a half later..."
He looked at the girl after a thought crossed his mind. "DATS. D-do you know about DATS? I heard about them once or twice, I-I thought it was a conspiracy theory or s-something b-but... i-if somehow we get separated or I-I can't go home for whatever reason, I need you to look for DATS... I-I doubt you know what they are, th-they're s-supposedly this government agency that try to hide digimon o-or something, I dunno... b-but tell them I'm stuck here. If you can find them, please, please send help. Tell them I'm still alive and that I'm a married man, p-people will miss me! Tell them anything, I-I need help!" Yaku was close to panicking, his paranoia sweeping him up as he realized that meeting someone willing to help him was a bit of luck that'd likely turn sour at a moment's notice.

"I see, that makes sense, then..." Chessmon commented. However, deep inside, she wonders if it's fine to just like that trust someone even if they are a good friend that you made after several times of meeting? Without meaning to offend the person involved, it's almost like this man, Tridori Yaku, have quite the desire of adventure, but she can be wrong, as he himself said he's separated from this... Digimon named Vetina. Now the matter of lying to a wife... she wondered if it'll be one of the case of 'Hell hath no fury like a woman angered'...
"DATS?" Karin raised her eyebrow at that name being mentioned. Yaku is a bit out of it to explain what exactly is DATS, but from the way he told her about the organization, it's more than likely they're quite responsible for something that covering Digital World... but what? Honestly, she have no idea. She can't promise anything... wait, why the heck does she even try so hard on this? It's totally not like her.
"...Tridori-san, I cannot promise you anything, really... If they're as hidden as how I thought they are, then how am I supposed to meet them? Do you think anyone here know something about them? It'll be helping if you could at least tell me from where do you hear about them... and what do you know about them in full?"

"R-right... D-DATS... I said I don't know much about them b-but they... OK... supposedly there's a government agency that tries to cover up Digimon from th-the general public... a-apparently, b-but keep in mind I only heard it from drunks in bars, they find digimon and return them to the digital world if they don't have partners." Yaku continued. "Th-they're the reason Digimon just don't take the trailmons or the portals into the digital world whenever they want, b-because they send them right back... I-I dunno how b-but..." He looked worried again.
"...I-if they don't exist th-though... I-I dunno what to do... I-If I send you to my wife she'll think I just ran away... if I don't she'll probably think I'm dead. S-sorry about talking your ear off... I-I'm just worried... p-please, tell me about yourself..."

"...I think that much is given. When someone send a kid to their wife, don't you think it'll be the most awkward thing ever? And even if she believes in me, I can't imagine myself pulling a woman to this world, without partner at it... Honestly, that'll be a great karma ahead of me. I'm not ready to shoulder that kind of burden of protecting someone. My partner... is not that strong yet..." she felt guilty to be saying that with Chessmon in earsight, but there are no choice about it.
"It's fine, Mistress. Tridori-dono, let's consider searching for DATS as the last option we should do. While I'm going to help you, I doubt that searching for such organization, that kind of organization that seem doing all the deporting the stray Digimons sneakily behind everyone's back is that easy... That's why, we need you to stay really close to us and makes sure to not get too excited at sight of getting closer to the way home... look."
Chessmon pointed at a village down below, within fifteen minutes of walking distance with her spear.
"I guess we can warm ourselves soon, don't you think?"
Yaku asked about herself to Karin... well...she have no idea what to say, but...
"I'm your ordinary second grader middle school student. I got Chessmon as an egg few weeks ago, nearing the end of summer break. Got into fight with a strange ursine Digimon and his formal suited partner with the most crooked behavior I ever seen... Got lost horribly, deciding to take break from all those crazy fights... something like that. Nothing much to tell, really."
