"A month, huh? That should be more than enough time, though we'll have to find a way to keep the water from freezing..."
Fortunately for Viktor, Koneka wasn't just going to idly sit back and let the injured man do all of the work. As Viktor began to organize the bag's contents, the Gatomon followed suit, setting the set of rations aside temporarily to help set the cans against the back wall. She did this through clenched teeth, clearly favoring her right foot and her left hand, but this was something that just needed done. Her ear did twitch, however, when she heard Viktor's suggestion.
"... Just be sure you don't limit yourself on my account. I've stifled your blood loss, but you need meat to replace what you've lost." Koneka didn't disagree with Viktor's analysis, but still felt a little apprehensive, as a doctor, to take preferential treatment in this insane situation. She was supposed to be the medic, the support for others. Not the soldier! The thought was quickly pushed aside, as the cat was handed a lighter.
"Look away." With two flicks, the magnesium burned up in a sickly white, before a low red flame began to burn away at the cardboard. Previously unseen blue and grey stone cropped into view, and, finally, the two got a clear look at each-other through the light of the fire. Despite the darkness, Viktor's bandage job looked like it had done quite well, only a faint pink showing through his cloth. "We'll have to deal with these current dressings for a while longer, I'm afraid... though once they're spent, more fuel for the fire." Koneka sighed, prodding at her own pink bandage at her leg, before finally taking a small moment to relax. They just had to wait until-
Huh. Well that was a creative idea. "We can try one. My guess says it would take away about a week's worth of cooking supplies. Even if it works, I don't think either of us would be strong enough to make it back to a station like this." Keeping her head level, Koneka tended to the current MRE, and looked towards Viktor: "Set your Digivice to track Genesis, and put it as close to the exit as possible. She might end up sensing it if she's looking around. Also, we're going to have to keep track for how long the... 'exit' stays white. It'll give us an idea of how long we have to find somewhere once we can get out."
At this point, the cat pinched her sinus, shaking her head, a small bit of dizziness coming over her. "Either way, we're going to be stuck here a while. Once we're done setting up camp, let's get a bit of sleep."
There wouldn't be much else to do right now, after all. Even here, however, the Gatomon managed to crack a grin: "Sound good... 'partner'?"
Okay, good. Genesis had managed to calm down a bit at Valeria's direction. At her confidence, the fairy managed a smile, a pat given on the fox's back. "We'll store it in an icebox in the city, so it won't weigh us down, and so we can preserve it. Right, Ami?"
"... Yeah... dragging it around everywhere would weaken it... probably..."
Sheesh, this was a terrible situation, and Genesis was still standing on nails figuring out what to do. In fact, she looked right to Valeria for ideas, to which the fairy gave a shrug: "I'd freak out, dive head-first into the snow, and have Viktor pull be out and lecture me while I'd still be freaking out. It would probably be worse. Ami's not Viktor, after all."
"Damn it, bunny." Ami shook her head. "If it was Valeria, I'd use my Digivice to try and track her position. Does that work in reverse, Valeria?"
"Anything's possible, I guess. Never tried... might be worth a run over to see if it can be sensed. The snow might throw it off, too... not to mention we'd be sitting ducks. Caturamon's backup will probably be here soon, after we dealt with the current threat..."
And they'd be sitting ducks on a giant white canvas if they went in without a plan!
"Ami, you're an engineer, right? Could you figure out where they should be from where the snow started falling?"
"... I'd need a place to draw out the calculations and a calculator..."

The answers Genesis got did not make her very happy, nor did it satisfy her 'quench' for finding her partner. But she knew that losing it now, losing it like this, was a bad idea. The Renamon opened wrapped the severed arm and buried it in the snow, marking it with two beams that stuck a decent amount from the surface;
"How would that even work? I have no means of tracking it in reverse, and I can't even tell you where I'd even begin to 'track' him."
Genesis gave a heavy sigh as she watched the trail of destruction, following the debris as she spoke yet again; "But we're not leaving here without those two. Let's start looking."
She had to consider several things, some made it seem impossible. Due to the area of destruction, the level of it, and the amount of things under the snow drove that point home even further. She started down the 'hillside' of snow. Her mind rewatching Viktor being taken by the snow as she closed her eyes and tried to get some form of mental connection, hoping that the other two's plan would infact work.
______________________________________________________________________________________
Viktor gave a weak smile as he rolled over, wrapping himself in his coat as he placed a rolled shirt on the ground and gently drifted to sleep, easily clearing his mind and sighing, letting the warmth of unconsciousness take him.
He awoke several hours later, using his "good" arm to wipe his eyes as he pushed himself up, grunting and groaning as he walked to their MRE supply and grabbed a beige bag that read; "Frankfurters", causing Viktor to sigh as he opened it and groaned;
"Out of all the bags I grabbed it had to be the dogfood."
He figured eating it now would get it out of the way, and wondering how this found it's way into the pile of survival food. The Russian walked to the fire and began eating, tossing the cardboard into the fire as he used their "fire starter" bag to fuel the dying flames. When Koneka would undoubtedly approach, he would speak between bites and gags;
"These are called; "The Five Fingers of Death", as my old American friend used to call them on field operations. We often would use them as bait to catch wildlife, rather than eat them. Problem is, nothing would even touch these things. Dogfood has a higher beef quality."
He took the last two and threw them in the fire, trying to keep the other three down as he chugged a bottle of water. Shaking his head, trying to shake off his body rejecting the 'food'.
"The rest aren't bad. Not great. But not bad. This one, however, is ninty-percent concentrated hate from people."
He took the heat pack and tossed it in the back with the others, looking up as he sighed, it would be a little more before they got their 'lunch bomb'.
"I am not an explosive expert, but I think overcompensating here would be an alright thing. We just need to figure out a delivery system and we can just use the heat pads soon. The longer we wait, the more chance our party leaves. If they're close by. They will hear the explosion."
Viktor looked at the wall of rock and the MREs again. Hoping, this time, things would be easy. But with his track record, he knew that it wouldn't be easy.
It never was.

"Gen..."
Sheesh, this was hard. As Genesis stepped out in the vast white hillside, Valeria took a deep breath. The Renamon seemed calmer now, and it was true: they weren't going to get anywhere in finding the fox's tamer or the doctor if they just sat on their hands and did nothing. But to go so boldly out there just seemed risky, especially right after a first avalanche. The fairy looked over her shoulder to Ami, who gave a nod.
"Fly from above, see if you can find anything. Divots, piles of snow, fallen trees, anything. And make sure you get Genesis back up here before sunfall. I'll work on getting a shelter set up in the city."
"You sure, Ami?"
"Its not like we can leave without him." Even in this situation, Ami gave a rare smile. One that was returned by Valeria, before she kicked off into the air.
This was going to be a long search...
"Zzzzz..."
Somehow, Koneka had managed to fall into a rather deep sleep, in this dank, humid cave. As her ear twitched, feeling the heat of the fire against her fur, Koneka stirred, a smell wafting into her ear. Just how long had it been... ugh, and why was she still so tired?
"... Mornin." With Viktor in his coat, Koneka had taken the one sleeping bag, and thus kicked out of it, smelling something filling up this cave. Curiously, she walked up, seeing Viktor pull up a ration and slowly explain it. From one of those last two, she took a piece and chuckled:
"Don't tell me about rations. If you've seen what they've tried to pass off as edible plant paste on our end, well..." Biting into the 'bait', Koneka openly winced, and coughed, immediately regretting what she had just tried. The rest was quickly tossed into the flames. "N-never... mind..."
In a quick manner, Koneka pulled up something far more edible, and began to prepare it over the flame. As Viktor had done before, the spare heat pack was thrown to the corner - that made four - as the cat carefully listened to what Viktor had to say. And to that, Koneka nodded.
"But the more we use on signals, the less chance it will break the wall. I say we wait another day or two, then steal the heating packs from the next few rations after that. Again, if we haven't healed and no-one hears it, well..."
She had made her point before, and gave a sigh. With everything else set in place, Koneka set her ration aside for a moment, and reached into the bag, pulling out fresh bandages. "Take off your coat and sit still." It was routine for her at this point: pulling aside Viktor's old bandages, she put them alongside the other explosive materials. At least, that was what she did for his minor wounds: for the obvious missing arm, a valuable towel quickly replaced the deep red bandages, before carefully dressing the wound back up.
"We'll use the old bandages to soak in the moisture, so we can wedge the bomb in the snow itself." She was thinking far more clearly than yesterday, and with Viktor's dressings done, she sighed, and winced, grabbing at her own bandages. "... T-think you can fix mine?"
Unfortunately for the search team, there was little luck throughout the day. Against her likely will, Valeria had just barely made Genesis drag herself back to the city. And although no-one slept a good night, they were at least warm as Valeria consoled Genesis, and as Ami swore openly, up and down at several hand-drawn calculations.
All throughout the night.
Which was why, this early morning, Ami was able to pass on a piece of paper to Genesis: several indecipherable math equations, with a huge circle at the bottom, with a specific distance of how far something of Viktor's weight would have been carried down the hill.
"Ami... how... I mean, are you sure?"
"Ugh. No. Fifty-five percent chance that he's within 100 yards of that point. Assuming they didn't hit a rock... basically, don't waste your time below that point. He won't be below. Shouldn't be. Won't be. Probably."
Yes, Ami sounded completely delusional. Hearing this, Valeria gave a sigh: "Okay, I'm going with Genesis. You sleep. Now."

It was a tough sell, and even tougher decision to walk away from where Viktor was most likely. The action took a piece of Genesis with it, leaving the usually outgoing and cheerful fox reserved and quiet. Her mind a million places at once as they got back to town, and she sat in the shadows, watching Ami formulate a plan all night. How could anyone sleep at a time like this? If Genesis could just go mega, she could clear the area, have her foxes help her discover his location and end this mess. As the sun "turned on", she knew they were running out of time.
"We'll handle it, Ami. Thank you."
Without another word spoken, Genesis walked out the door, then made her way to the end of the hall and looked to Valeria;
"Once we get to the area, split up. Two heads are better than one."
She hoped this would work, her partner was out there, and she was going to find them. Not matter the cost.

With a sigh, Viktor did as commanded, taking off his coat as she pulled the bandages from his damp, bloodied skin. With roll of his neck, he did the same for her, tossing them aside to the explosive "pile". With a grunt, the Russian sat down and leaned on a wall, cursing as he rolled his shoulder where the arm was taken.
"I fear the worst, strength or not, we are going to have to do something sooner or later. The cold is getting worse, and the food is going to run out. Not to mention the grand scheme of things. The longer we wait, the more powerful our enemies become. Living now is important, but if we wait, we may not have anything to live in."
Viktor pulled parts of the MRE he ate and opened the package with his mouth, spitting the wrapper to the ground as he used his mouth to pull the "short cake" from the thin bag, then consume it. The concept of time was broken to him, as his watch was broken, his phone was lost and there was no sun to speak of. So standard meals weren't happening, they just had to eat when they were hungry. He gave another grunt as he stood up, a feat much harder due to the lack of an arm. Using mostly his core to pull himself up, Viktor looked into the flame, letting his mind wonder as he thought about Koneka, this must have been boring for her. Mind cracking too. Viktor was used to this, was used to sitting around and doing nothing.
"How are you holding up? Mentally I mean. Being trapped in one place for a long time can...do things to a person."
He gave a warm smile to the cat, trying to make her feel more comfortable in a time when that wasn't a luxury they had. The normally cold, callous, and calculating soldier was something most people hand't seen in him. Something Genesis rarely ever saw;
Human.

"Thanks." Of course, Koneka didn't feel like asking Viktor for too much, given the current situation, but Koneka's previous bandages had been done rather poorly. This was partially due to the light, but mostly because she simply couldn't get a good handle for getting the darn roll around her back. Once these were taken care of, Koneka rested near the fire, ear twitching as she listened to Viktor's words.
To them, she gave a silent sigh. "... I advise against it, but I am willing to force myself if it becomes necessary. Of course, spending weeks down here puts us that much further out of the loop. And honestly, they must be looking for us right now... hm..."
Looking over at the entrance, a gray sheet of snow, Koneka shook her head and moved to continue on her own ration, nibbling on dried carrots and sweet paste. "Once the wall lightens up, we'll know the sun is in front of us. Honestly, let's just pull the things we aren't using from the rest of our rations, and try to blast it open. Even if we don't move out after it, if we can get a tunnel out, we can just work on keeping it open every day. Or... it might just make it deeper."
It was a risk they had to take... hm? What did Viktor ask?
"Its a bit uncomfortable, but not unfamiliar. I spent about a month isolated from society when a bunch of Wisemon had posted wanted posters for me everywhere. Don't worry, you don't look like a large chicken-leg yet." She chuckled back to Viktor, and moved closer, resting her head against his leg much like a house cat. "And what about you? Stir crazy yet?"
The Gatomon smirked: "C'mon, this can't be the worst. When's the last time you were hemmed up like this? If we're stuck down here, might as well kill time with some 'war' stories."

Some days later, as both the cat and the tamer survived it became apparent that Viktor's health was steadily declining. His skin grew more pale, his eyes sunk and he was losing energy. The loss of an arm tends to start some kind of shock in the body, and this was a serious medical issue. He needed proper medical treatment. Not to say that Koneka did a terrible job, but she didn't carry antibiotics and IVs with her.
Viktor coughed as he was mixing the heat pack; "Grab that bottle, pour this in and then fill four more bottles up. Seal them tight. Drop them in this bucket. And wait."
Viktor weakly made two more, wiping the cold sweat from his brow as he brought up three or four connected to a single fuse, that lead into the a small hole drilled into the caps. Koneka's claws were pretty much multitools. Viktor sighed as he would set the bottles into the bucket with the others, preparing as he pulled his lighter out and bit his lips. They had only one shot at this. And if this failed, then they were up the creek with a blown up paddle.
Viktor smiled to Koneka and spoke:
"Pick a God and pray for this. We need some divine intervention for this one."
He coughed as he lit the fuse, watching it spark up and moving at a rapid pace to the bottles. He took cover behind the wall and covered his ears, waiting for the boom as that just followed.
Loudly.
The explosion was a little more than what he expected, and the newly blown hole was wide enough to drive a tank. Viktor's hearing was absent, despite covering his ears as he slowly rose to his feet, coughing as the cold air intruded into his lungs.
"Ladies first."
He gestured on, hoping she would follow. _____________________________________
Genesis hadn't slept in days, with a small army of people willing to help, they were scouring the area of where Viktor was lost. Some encouraged her to stop, stating the he was only human and he was likely dead. She refused to believe that. As long as she had even an inkling about him being alive, she wouldn't rest. She was standing with Valeria and Ami over some maps, surveying the land as they weren't just looking for Viktor, several other people went missing too, and many people were willing to help find them.
"Hmm, well if we-"
A large explosion resounded through the tundra, causing Genesis' ears to perk as she pointed to the smoke clouds rising;
"Ami! Valeria! Let's go! It's likely Fringe attacking!"
She quickly grabbed her bad and rushed into the scene. She was determined to not let another attack happen, she wasn't going to lose anymore people.
She arrived as fast as she could, staring into the hole created as the smoke covered the inside:
"Whoever's hiding inside, come out or be destroyed!"
"Hello to you too, little one."
Genesis' ears raised as she rushed to Viktor and gave him a hug. Unable to see his arm that was severed. At this point; She completely forgot about his injury.
He looked awful, but for now; She was just happy to see him alive!

Unfortunately, several days had passed without any sign from the outside. And after only about a day of this, it was clear that their strategy of focusing on the Gatomon's recovery simply wasn't going to fly: Viktor's pale skin and long bouts of sleep didn't do anything for Koneka's confidence. Against Viktor's wishes, she spent a good amount of energy healing the man, which threw away any idea of her using Angewomon to break them out.
So all they had left was this bomb. Almost a week later, with the two completely chatted out, Koneka worked with Viktor to set up the explosives. "I'll get them, just work on the fuse. Don't stress yourself too far." Thankfully, Koneka's medical skill made her pretty good with her hands, and this little contraption didn't take too long to set up. Soon, the bucket bomb was pushed as far into the wall of snow as possible, and both Viktor and the cat had retreated to a safe distance.
"Heh. Let's just rock this."
And so they did.
BOOM.
"... Alright, this is about as low as Ami's math would take us. If he didn't fall anywhere under the path, then-"
"Gah!"
A fair bit closer than Genesis, Valeria quickly found herself holding tight to her tamer, shielding her from an oncoming fine, icy mist. Almost immediately, the fairy had switched to 'battle' mode, kicking up off into the air, strongly staring down at the point of impact. However, with a quick look to the sky, she lowered her arms just a bit... there were no more missiles? Was it just a rogue bomb that hadn't gone off before?
"... Valeria, look! That's... that's right where I said they'd be!"
"Just... fifteen feet down. That's how we missed them?!" Impressed and relieved, Valeria flew forward, and picked up the cat next to Viktor, just as she collapsed in the snow. Both Koneka and Viktor looked like absolute crud, and with a nod to Ami, the tamer opened up a portal to the Luminas hospital.
"C'mon, let's go!"
Oh, they would be so glad to be out of here....
