[OPEN] High Risk, High Reward

High risk indeed.
Now the Server Woods were very familiar to Vika; she had come across her Beast Spirit there not long ago. The Yatagaramon was hardly any help (the opposite, in fact), but it was an important step in her growth as a Spirit User regardless.
However, it was deep within the forest where a place known as "The Tyrant's Labyrinth" was said to reside. And within it was treasure. Supposedly, of course.
Red was sure to stress the supposedly as a reason for this to be a pointless endeavor. But there was little talking down Vika once she had made up her mind. And she had been out of action at her full energy for far too long; the Wind Spirit was practically hoping for danger to appear.
After her recovery and an impromptu trip to Japan, she had been spending nearly two months back at home recuperating. Whatever danger Red and Koneka had been in seemed to have die down. The Digital World was still not peaceful, of course; rumours of a large battle on Luminas were widespread alongside those of ancient powerful Digimon reappearing.
But those rumours were for another day. Even Vika understood she couldn't jump into a big battle just yet. She had to stretch her wings...metaphorically.
In her Kilvasmon form to lower the humidity, she floated atop her hoverboard with Red just behind her.
"Treasure...so is there a temple in here, or tunnels? Labyrinths are generally tunnels, right?" she asked the irked JeetHawkmon, a dagger in her hand to cut away at any overgrowth in her path.
"Again, that is simply a rumour. It is very possible that there are some Digimon residing her who do not wish to be found. We-" the bird stopped mid-sentence. He was about to say "we shouldn't risk it".
"Risk" was not a good choice of word to use in Vika's presence; it would only fire her up.
"...we probably won't find anything useful."
Still...there was a real risk of running into vagrants or other "treasure hunters" here. He wasn't entirely confident the pair were up to a fight right now.

"I think you guys should stay away from that place."
A Ryudamon steps in, getting closer to the duo and warns them with a calm but cautious voice. Before the duo arrived to this place, this Ryudamon was already in front of the temple long ago. He also wanted to know what's inside the labyrinth. But he knew something wicked and dangerous is inside. Deep, deep, deep inside. Although the Ryudamon looks calm, the duo would notice that he's being very anxious and cautious now.
"Although i'm not really sure about this, but i can feel something is lurking deep inside."
"Something bad."
The Ryudamon puts an emphasis on the word "Bad". He never been there, but he knew that most of the Digimons entering that place never returned back. Even if they are returned, most of them are injured. Very. BAd.
"Oh, forgive my rudeness, i'm just... suggesting things..."
The Ryudamon bows as a sign of apologize. His realized that he's being selfish by trying to convince the duo to not enter the temple. And moreover, he's just a random stranger to those duo. He has no right to stop them.
"If you guys still want to enter the labyrinth i won't force you to not go. But i just don't want to see another Digimon stuck in there or getting out without an arm or a leg."
The Ryudamon keeps his face down, worried about the two that could not survive.

As they passed through the next clearing, they found themselves before some sort of temple. Odd...they hadn't heard anything about this in the rumours. But it certainly did look like the type of place treasure may be stored.
A lone sentry appeared to be guarding the building as well; a Ryuudamon. Or maybe "guard" was not the correct word; he seemed simply to warn them not to enter what he called a dangerous area. Instead of, you know, threatening violence unless they leave. Not that a Rookie would be much trouble in that department anyways.
Still floating in place on her hoverboard, Vika exchanged glances with Red at the stranger's words. Something "bad", eh? And the prospect of losing limbs?
Perhaps this would have scared off most explorers. But it had the opposite effect on the daredevil Spirit User.
"I've lost my wings and almost my mind. Pretty damn sure I can handle whatever's in there." she grinned proudly, pointing her dagger forward. "Thanks for the heads up though."
"I'd heed his words, Vika. You're not in the condition for this yet. Perhaps later-" the JeetHawkmon began, his eyes meeting the Wind Spirit's face. Ah, of course...she was using "filtered listening" right now. His words were heard but only barely understood. To be honest, even had they been understood they would probably have had little effect.
Well there was another way about this. He instead turned his attention to the Ryuudamon before them. "Have you seen what's in there? Or how powerful those who entered and were injured were?"

The duo had different views regarding the warning that Enzan gave. The hoverboard girl shrugs it off, while the Hawkmon wants to confirm the danger that lies inside the temple. Upon hearing the Hawkmon's question, The Ryudamon walks to their front. Turning away against them and facing the entrance of the temple. Deep breaths going in and out for a while.
"I've never been inside there, to be honest. Just standing here and looking at Digimons that coming in and coming out."
He continues speaking without turning his face to them, still focused to the entrance.
"I saw a group of Ogremons, and they never come back. I saw 2 ultimates, and only one returns, the other one dies as soon as he went out from the gate. One WarGreymon lost his right arm after entering here. But there must be more... but i don't really know. I'm not always here all the time."
He nods to himself like an old man agreeing to his view.
What happens next is quite unexpected. The Ryudamon turned back again to the duo and asks something silly.
"Ever heard that if you stare at abyss it would stare back to you? Try to look at that dark entrance."
Enzan pointed his claws to the entrance way of the temple. Pitch black. But Enzan was sure that behind that darkness, something is staring at them. Deep, deep, deep inside. That's what Enzan did to prove the wicked aura inside the labyrinth.
"Not sure that you guys could feel it, but i can feel it..."

A WarGreymon lost his arm? Vika could not yet reach the Mega stage, so she was definitely outclassed here. Whether or not this could be relayed in a manner to have her back off was the question now. Instead the Kilvasmon was nodding her head along in agreement as if the Ryuudamon was giving her more reasons to go. Wonderful...
Of course, another question arose too; why was this Ryuudamon so interested in keeping watch of this place? Was he also looking for the supposed "treasure" like the Spirit User?
His interest certainly seemed intense as he drifted off topic about "staring into the abyss". Just what had this Digimon seen?
The duo followed the stranger's claw to the entrance to the temple. Atop a few steps, it stood doorless. No sound emanated from it. The darkness of the doorway also implied a lack of light. There didn't seem to be anything off by looking at to Red, at the very least.
For Vika, however, things were different. As an avatar of the Wind Spirit, she could see the flow of wind itself in trails of green. And the way the wind passed the doorway...no, the way it almost unnaturally avoided it...nature itself understood it was not to be entered. Just what the hell was in there? One of those "Super Megas" she had heard about?
Shoot, now she really was starting to get a bit worried. Flashbacks of the encounter with Adamon reminded her of her own previous shortcomings. But that was a different case; she could not have abandoned a friend. But if she did enter this temple and things turned south...she would have no issues using her portal to lead her and Red to safety.
All her bases were covered. This Ryuudamon had only convinced her something amazing was inside. Amazingly good or bad, but amazing regardless. The Kilvasmon hopped off her board and tucked it under her arm.
"The abyss, right?" she clarified, walking towards the Ryuudamon. "That's basically the unknown, right? You can't figure anything out if you don't look into the unknown. So I'd say it's worth a shot. I can tell you're interested in what's there too, aren't ya?"

The Ryudamon is still looking at the entrance, sensing something weird. He feels the creepy aura of the place is start to spreads out and coming closer to them. Although it could be just his imagination, this creepy sensation makes the armored Digimon feeling sick. Well, spooky places gives you goosebumps and makes you sick, anyways. But aside from the fact that this place is indeed creepy and it's better not to get your butt inside, the Ryudamon still curious. He doesn't care if there is treasure inside that place. He just want to find out how the inside of that looks like.
A clash inside the dragon's mind. Either to follow his natural instinct to stay away from the place or follow his curiosity to find out. This is a total gamble, even if he would be accompanied by two Digimons that seemingly have same power level as him. He's not underestimating them. Enzan is just being thoughtful and worried if something bad would happen to them. If he comes in by himself he only have to worry his safety. But if he have to enter this place with those two...
Enzan was snapped out of his mind when the Digimon Girl hopped off from her hovering board and approaches him. His warning is not making her run away, it's attracting her.
This will be harder.
"Well... i can't say that i'm not interested..."
"But even with three of us entering there... i can't guarantee our safety and i'll be feeling guilty to let another two Digimon become the victim of this labyrinth..."
Enzan turned and looked at the winged girl with such a thoughtful face.

"Guarantee safety? Pfft."
The Kilvasmon shrugged off those words with a grin. One that seemed almost too cocky for such a Digimon (but definitely not for Vika). "Condescending" might be another word for the way she looked over at the Ryuudamon.
"Can't guarantee something like that. But you can't let that stop you. I have a portal if we need to get out anyways." she added in an attempt to relieve the Rookie's worries. Somehow the situation had turned from Vika being convinced not to enter the labyrinth to Vika convincing others to enter.
With or without him, however, she was dead-set on entering. Even Red had come to that unfortunate realization as he searched over other possible arguments in his head in the hopes of finding one that may work in this situation. And yet none did.
Looks like they were entering the unknown temple. Wonderful...
Bending her knees for a moment, Vika sprung into the air towards the entrance. As she did so, her dagger-gripped hand touched on her pocket momentarily and essentially "slashed" across it to create a data-stream. his created a dome in front of her even as she descended. This dome almost appeared to "catch" the Kilvasmon before encircling her in a purple sphere that finally came to rest inches from the temple entrance's floor. It was then that a leg burst out and gained footing, followed by the remainder of the WinterKazemon effectively blowing away the sphere with a blast of cold wind.
Her dagger was lit with flames as she held it within the void that was the doorway, its light casting sight onto seemingly ordinary brick-flooring.
Turning back towards Red and the Ryuudamon, she once again looked down condescendingly. "So you guys coming too?"

This girl is a stubborn one. But her persistence to get in despite knowing that the place is supposedly not to be visited gets the Ryudamon's muse rise up. Somehow he feels a bit envious that the girl could keep their resolution steel hard, not like wall of sand like this one here. Enzan was about to drift inside his thoughts once again, but the winged girl broke the silence by dashing to the entrance. This made the dragon jumped a bit because he was caught off guard and didn't pay attention.
Her gesture is a bit cocky to the point that she's very optimistic there will be no harm would come to the slim figure. Enzan sighs a bit. But looks like he's being dragged into this instead pushing them back. Worry still exist, but he's a bit assured that the girl can ensure they would come back in one piece should anything dangerous happens.
"I wish i could say no for this, but i can't deny that i'm curious about what's inside."
Shrugging his shoulders, the Ryudamon then also proceeds to the entrance. Thrills of adventure are slowly burning inside him.
"But if anything bad happens to us, i hope we get out immediately."
Enzan said, as slowly, reddish-orange squares are surrounding him. Moments later, the Ryudamon is engulfed in bright orange light. It doesn't take long for the light to shine. It immediately dissolves, along with the wind. A new figure stands before the girl. A tall demonic man in worn out japanese-styled armor wearing a helmet that covers half of his face. A cape from ragged and old strands of straw covers his back. On his pale right hand, a long, curved blade is being held tightly.
Enzan, now a Mushamon, will be accompanying the winged girl anytimw.
"Watch yourself. We don't know what lies beneath. Keeping each other's back and staying together would be the best. I'll be in your care."

Heh, the Ryuudamon had been successfully convinced! Pride washed over Vika as she nodded at the clearly expected result before turning back towards the entrance. The light of Fire Emblem was not showing anything as worrying as the diverted wind...maybe the wind was just off due to some kind of natural phenomenon? It wasn't like she was a scientist who could research this; that was more Red's expertise. Comparatively, at least.
The Ryuudamon proceeded to Digivolve into a Digimon that she didn't recognize. Some sort of samurai? Her curiosity led to to hold her Digivice against the air in his direction. The results populated as a Champion-level named "Mushamon".
Throw in Red and that made them a party of three Champions. Said JeetHawmon had also landed next to the other two by the entrance, eyes scanning what little the light observed inside the doorway. "I may have the best eyesight to work with in the dark, so I can lead." he explained, stepping in front of the other two.
"...Red, I have a torch. I should be in the front." the Wind Spirit scoffed, brushing past Red into the doorway. "But I'm still counting on you two for whatever ends up inside."
The doorway led into a simple empty hallway. The lack of wind made for a contamination of heat and the distinct smell of humidity, but it was not yet anything dangerous. This place seemed pretty air-tight as far as the lack of wind was concerned.
They were emptied into a larger room. How large was uncertain given the lack of light though.
"Shall we trace the wall?"

This Hawkmon were about to lead the parties, when the winged girl brushed him aside and walks abruptly to the front. Well, she does carry something important that would be needed here: The Light. Enzan sighed lightly as he follows the winged girl. The armored demon man was suspecting that they would be greeted by the welcoming welcoming committee right at the entrance of the dungeon. But it's not. Rather... it's kinda quiet. This makes Enzan becomes more cautious.
Suffocating. That's what he feels as he breathes. This place lacks air and is somehow a bit of humid. It's common, old buildings like this must be having the same condition. At least, not much different. Humid, spider webs, things like that.
Walking past the hallway brought them to a seemingly bigger room. However it's unclear, either the room's size or what's inside the room. Just walking through would be stupid. There could be anything surprising, like a welcoming committee or traps.
Enzan agrees with the Hawkmon's idea. Finding the walls first would be simpler. Trace the walls until you're blocked by another wall, then just find the door. However, this method has its own risk. You don't know if there's a hidden switch at the wall, and ended up pushing something that would trigger the traps.
"Good idea, if you guys want to do it, make sure you don't push the wall too hard or we'll activate the switch. Even if we pushed it, it's still half-to-half chance to bump a hidden door instead of hidden traps."
The demon man then raised his index finger until it meets up with his nose beneath the helmet.
"I suggest we don't split up. Tracing one wall then go to the other side isn't that tiring. I will be the cover."
*poof*
a small, bluish flame lit up from his index finger.
"Left or right?"

The Mushamon had a good head on his shoulders from the sound of things; splitting up was indeed the worse option. Even if it was the kind of option Vika would probably have suggested. Red was thankful this stranger at least shared his views in that regard. He also had his own light source to fight against the darkness that didn't seem to be letting up.
"Alright, let's go with that." Vika answered defeatedly as she led to group with one gloved hand against the wall. It seemed to be curving ever so slightly...not quite a circle, but not a simple square or rectangle either. She was also going much too quickly for what was supposed to be a stealth-based approach to avoid traps.
Which is probably why she felt her hand slip at a sharp right-angle in the wall fell onto her knee. In her surprise she gripped her dagger harder and accidentally turned off the light. At least she hadn't dropped it though, right?
"What happened?!" the bird cried out, unable to see in front of him. Soon the light appeared again as Vika waved it around like a torch.
"Just some walls being stupid. Don't worry. But hey, check this out."
If they followed where the WinterKazemon pointed her lit-dagger, they would see a ditch in the wall just big enough to accommodate a door. It looked heavy and stone-laden, but it was a route regardless. And it didn't even require a special switch or anything.
"Should we try this place? Could be fun." she hinted, pressing her free hand onto the door.
And earning a respective "click" from somewhere inside the large room. One that was followed by a whirring sound.
It didn't sound good.

The winged girl agrees to the suggestion. But with her... overly optimistic attitude, the Mushamon is very sure that she would do the checking with... less consideration and caution. He is still bugged with the fifty percent chance to bump into traps instead a new way. Whatever that will happen, Enzan always have the flames on his left index finger and the sword on his right hand.
As the light suddenly turns off, Enzan intensifies the flame, trying to light up the vision so the Hawkmon stops panicking. Glad that the girl didn't drop the torch. Her hand still waving the torch that goes back again. Such relief.
The winged girl then points out that there is something that looks like a door. A heavy, stone door. Not really suspicious enough as there is no distinctive motives or anything fancy. But still. Fifty percent chance of bumping into traps is really troublesome if you take it into consideration.
"Uh... i think we should..."
Before the warrior mon finishes his sentence, the door clicked as the girl pushed the door. A whirring, sound of moving door in minor scale can be heard soon after.
Instinctively, Enzan feels something bad is happening after this. That girl is not in the position to take this. And here goes, Enzan's natural unconscious sense of protecting people is reacting.
"GO BACK!!"
The Mushamon rushes to the winged girl, sticking his sword to ground, and pulling the girl's arm, trying to pull and push her away from whatever that might comes. Hopefully she understand this and follows Enzan's warning.
But this means the one who will face the danger is Enzan himself.

"Get back? My thoughts exactly!"
As the Mushamon tried to grab her to pull her out of harm's way, Vika activated her own counter-measure; WinterKazemon's Rebellious WInd. The other Champion would feel a sudden soft reappearance of a breeze before being shot backwards alongside Vika away from the door in a blast of air.
It was unfortunate that Red had not also taken a hold of her. He did attempt to jump backwards, but actually flying backwards was not something he could do so suddenly. The clicking noise from the door manifested in the form of javelin that proceeded to scratch against Red's lower abdomen. Past experience dictated he did not possess the greatest luck with traps in dungeons.
Which perhaps explained the after-effect of the attack on his stomach. His barely-intact backwards flying was abruptly ended as he fell into a sitting position and traced the wound from the attack. Sure enough there was some type of unnatural liquid around the otherwise minor wound. He quickly went into work with his healing skill symbolized with blue light, but it was not meant to deal with poisons. Moreover he was left with no light source except this blue light, which signaled Vika and the Mushamon to his relatively distance from them.
The Wind Spirit had managed to move surprisingly far back without hitting a wall; this was indeed a massive room. But now they were away from the walls, and thus susceptible to unseen floor traps. Between her Fire Emblem and the other Champion's fire abilities, they at least had ample enough light for any further movements.
"Okay, so that didn't work very well. Thanks for trying to block it though." she surrendered to her new partner. "HEY, RED! YOU OKAY!"
"We're not at shouting distance. But no, the trap inflicted some type of poison to me. I'm not entirely certain what kind, but I'm having trouble flying at the moment." the JeetHawkmon replied, standing on his feet and facing the two clear sources of light. His wound was healed, but the poison still coursed through his system; just how long would this last?
And moreover...away from the walls now, how would they proceed? What was hiding in the darkness of this room beyond that trap?

The Mushamon was a bit confused about the girl's words. Just when he is about to think what did she meant by thinking the exact same thing, a swift, chilling breeze appears in front of Enzan before it suddenly turns into a burst of air explosion. It's quite surprising, as it's strong enough to blow both him and the girl away from the traps.
The whirring sound turns out as a trap door filled with javelin launcher. He was sure that the javelin was about to get his helmet, but gladly it's not really hitting him. But the javelin is hitting something else. And there's only one target that would get the hit if the winged girl is also safe from the javelin.
The Hawkmon.
The Mushamon managed to do back rolls to soften the impact from the wind explosion earlier. He's safe, but his sword now is stuck far away on the ground near the trap door earlier. That could be taken care of later, though. The Hawkmon needs to be checked. He hurriedly rushes to Red after the winged girl shouted.
"Good lord. The wound isn't that deep. But the poison near the wounds have to be taken away to prevent worse effects kicking in. Let me handle this. Please bear it for a while."
As the flame on his left index finger burns brighter, his right hand that covered in cloth is wiping the wounds slowly. That could be hurt, but before the poison seeps in and cause greater effects, the pain is worth.
"Hold it. Now to close the wounds. This one will be quite painful, though, but i'm not a tailor, i close wounds by burning them."
The Mushamon now prepares his two of his fingers, namely the index finger and the middle finger on his right hand to burn in the same ghastly flames on his left hand. "Just hold still. It's for your own good, too." And with quick and precise movement, the open wound is pressed with the burning fingers. It's not the best treatment, but for emergency, supposedly some part of skin will melt and will join together, closing the wounds.
Should it be done, now Enzan have to solve his own problem.
"Now i have to take my sword. I suggest you guys stay here for a while until i get my sword. If there is any traps, at least it'll only get one 'mon."

It was the Mushamon who took to Red's aid first. Vika didn't like not being "first", even in these kinds of situations. She took the air with her own wings (her hoverboard having been sealed away in Infini-Storage) and flew inches off the ground to the others.
Red was surprised to see their new partner seemed to have some semblance of medical knowledge. The bird could hardly operate on himself, and while he was confident in his own healing skills...the potential to limit the poison at this point could not be ignored.
"Of course. You have my thanks." the bird nodded, removing his light-laden wing from the wound. It seemed fire was the choice of his current practitioner. The bird took a deep breath as his mind acknowledged what was about to happen; a flame could quickly seal and treat a wound, but at the cost of short-term pain. It was a fairly old, yet mildly effective, technique.
Not one he had been treated with in some time. The burning fingers were suddenly upon him, his eyes pulsating for a moment in breathless pain. And then...it was over.
A deep breath morphing into a cough escaped Red as his body recovered from the technique. Even Vika had found herself wincing slightly at such direct contact with flames on a wound. But it was over now.
At that, the Champion went to retrieve the sword he had dropped in the earlier chaos.
"Alright, I'll try to scout the area a bit." Vika resigned, lifting herself further off the ground with Fire Emblem held above her head. Not wanting to risk hitting the ceiling, she settled at five feet high before going back in the direction her initial Rebellious Wind had launched her. Perhaps she could figure out how far from the wall they had been?
Red meanwhile needed the rest, and acted as a central returning point as he activated the soft blue light of healing once more.
It was only now that they weren't talking that he could hear...well, something. It didn't sound like anything in particular, but it was still different than the earlier complete silence. Or perhaps this was even more complete silence.
Whatever it was...the earlier trap had done much more than launch a poison-tipped javelin.
