((OOC:For reference's sake, the timing of this thread is going to be before worldwide realization of the Deva's actions, set before my two current threads in the mountains.))"Now arriving at Kilobyte Outpost. Local time: 2:18 PM. Please be careful departing from the Trailmon."
The sharp sound of the train's whistle rang across the arid landscape. For those that were regular visitors to this makeshift marketplace, the sound of the station rang in the background like church bells to mark the time. It fit this place's unique charm, and it was rather incredible how quick one would get used to it.
Partially due to its location, and partially due to its draw as a tourist spot, Kilobyte station definitely had something of a western vibe to it. An open market crowded itself just outside the station, the oasis bringing in delicacies and nicknacks from every corner of the Digital World. Past that was the western establishments: old-time bars and inns with swinging wooden doors, the occasional tourist shop, and a simple paved path out towards the oasis. The most up-to-date technology that most of these places had was a radio, though news flowed quickly in and out of this place with trade.
Let's see... where were we meeting?
In this unfamiliar station, a familiar Gatomon pushed her way past the market, looking for any sort of sign to mark her location. Ordinarily, the cat wouldn't have gone so far out of the way to this place. Right now, though, she couldn't pass this up: she had contacted Vika just a day ago to check on the condition of 'Kilvasmon', and learned two things: one, that the process had gone off without a hitch, and two, that both she and Red were free the next day... but on practically opposite sides of the continent. So, they came up with this middle point to meet at, a place Koneka was somewhat familiar with.
Well, if the place was anything like she remembered it: "Alright, four blocks in, on the right... hm." Well, this was different than she remembered. There were some parts that were the same, an iconic out-of-place wrought-iron lantern standing on the corner, and that dusty old newspaper reel. But what were clean glass doors doing at what was once a staple corner store? This one modern building had completely thrown off her direction! Perplexed, the cat turned to a passing Togemon: "Er, excuse me... do you know what happened to 'Star and Star's?"
"Oh, I know 'em. Two brothers sold out, moved outta town. Somethin' bout openin' up shop in Rustport." The cactus Digimon gave a shrug, and walked on. Koneka sighed, a slight smirk on her face.
"Not like we can't find something else to do. Might as well wait here." Shaking her head, the doctor leaned back against the lantern, sitting down, resting a paw on a bent knee. She had shade here, thanks to that obnoxious building, so all she had to do was wait.

There was something almost eerie about the absence of noise around him. Not noise entirely, but of the voice of one particular person who he had become accustomed to always being around. The Hawkmon had found himself taking...hm...would it be called a "vacation"? After all, protecting the key-bearer was technically his job, even if said bearer seemed to have entirely forgotten about the key. Nonetheless, this was the first time in quite a while that Red had some time away from the Wind Spirit. Even busier was the doctor who had no doubt more difficulty scheduled an off-day to meet up with him.
Koneka...it had been a good while since they last met. Given their distance from each other during their last communication, they had decided on Kilobyte Oasis' station as a meeting point. It seemed relatively removed from the chaos currently afflicting multiple other areas of the Digital World, and there was somewhat of a town there to relax in.
As he un-boarded the train, Red became of aware of just how unfamiliar he was with this area. It certainly seemed less...dusty than he had imagined. Had the destruction of Rustport led to a complete rebuilding of this area as well? Ah well, he simply had to find the "Star and Stars" that Koneka had mentioned. For a moment he simply stood by the platform and watched the Trailmon come to and fro. People moved around here with little sense of purpose; very few came here to work. They were vacationing, and for once...Red was vacationing too.
It was an appreciated change.
The Gatomon had passed off general instructions in addition to the name. Supposedly it was still a ways from the platform. If that was the case...
"This would not be the best view." the Hawkmon concluded quietly to himself. Unceremoniously, he lifted himself into the air and began to fly to what would be considered roof level of these buildings. His species' trademark eyes would make sure he found the location. It was a pretty simple name that would presumably stand out on a sign.
....
It was 2:45 now. He had been flying for nearly fifteen minutes. How hard could it be to find a specific place in this small town?! Maybe because Vika was rubbing off on him, the Hawkmon began to show signs of impatience. He began to speed up his flight speed in response.
Which unfortunately made his abrupt stop all the more awkward.
As Red came to a landing, he became aware there was no place called "Star and Stars" here. But that no longer mattered.
"Koneka..."
The cat had been leaning against a lantern when Hawkmon landed at her side.
"It's been...far too long."

Oh dear... I hope he didn't miss his train...
As long minutes passed, the Gatomon found herself growing slightly concerned over wherever Red ended up. It was never a question of 'Did he forget?' or anything of that sort - Red was far too proper of a Digimon to simply pass this up, after all - but there could be a number of other reasons as to why he would be late. Still, at this point, it was hardly a big deal. Holding her arms tighter around her knee, the cat rested her back against the lamppost, scouting out the rest of the street. Her ear twitched, catching on a bit of a conversation between two passing Meramon:
"Band's still on tonight, right?"
"Yeah, Whitewater called it off for whatever reason... might as well liven this place up, eh?"
"Yeah, yeah, just don't get yourself burned onstage."
Hm, that might be- ah! Koneka's eyes caught a near-flailing shadow cast down on the ground. Flicking her eyes up, she caught sight of Red. Finally! With a smile growing on the cat's face, Koneka stood up and turned to face the Hawkmon as he landed. And right as he was stable, the cat threw her arms around the bird, embracing Red in her arms.
Indeed, it had been too long!
"Oh, Red, its nice to see you." Loosening her grip, a slight red tinge on her cheeks, Koneka chuckled: "Sorry about the poor directions... just learned today that the Starmon brothers moved out of town. Hope you haven't been flying around for too long."
She gave Red a moment to catch his breath, stepping back to stretch out her back. Even with their original plan shot out of the water, this was definitely a step up from their average meetings. Heck, to put it bluntly, this was their first real date! Smirking at that thought, Koneka gave a sigh:
"Okay, well, the Stars are out. And I'm not too keen on hanging around the, let's see," Koneka once more glanced at the only modern building for miles, and gave a small laugh, paw briefly over her face as she enunciated the name: 'Ete-Mart', but it shouldn't be hard to find something." Shopping, food, shows, or even just a walk on the oasis; they had quite a number of options here! "See anything on the way in you wanted to check out?"

Just like that, what little uneasiness that had haunted his mind as far as seeing Koneka after so long was swept away. He closed his eyes at her embrace...perhaps for a moment too long as he felt her backing out of his wings before speaking up. Directions? Right, directions! Amazing how quickly the mind could forget something when focus was shifted.
"No no, it's fine. This place has clearly changed greatly since I was last here anyways." he brushed off. Although hearing that the Starmon brothers weren't here brought back the sense of unfamiliarity that the Hawkmon had experienced when flying about town. Did that mean they were essentially to improvise this date? He wasn't exactly the best at improvising...but perhaps it was time to at least try. Take a page from Vika's book, right?
Without a word, he slipped his wing into Koneka's paw and began leading her...to be honest, he wasn't really sure. He'd need to figure this out on the way. "Shall we see what we can find? I seem to remember some other sort of music hall this way, at least."
With the hope that the place he was remembering still existed, and assuming Koneka followed suit, the bird would begin his path in the direction of the waterfront. At least at absolute worst they would have a beautiful body of water to see. Ah, looked like he was planning this all out; so much for improvising.

Feeling Red's wing around her arm, the Gatomon gave a blush and, for a brief moment, let her head rest against the Hawkmon's shoulder, before the two set off into town. Thankfully, the two weren't completely at a loss here: hearing Red point out some sort of music hall, Koneka nodded:
"Oh, there's lots of music in this town, I don't think that part will have changed." The cat gave a small smile, gripping a bit around Red's wing. "With where we are in the desert, they play over the oasis. There's nothing for miles to soak up the sound, so you can hear it a good way out." All things considered, this sounded like it would be quite the fun place to be. Well, as long as this particular music hall was still there...
... And, to the Gatomon's pleasant surprise, this bit of the town's culture had survived this city's recent modernism. The path they walked took them right around the Oasis, and if one didn't know where they were, one could have easily mistaken this for the center of a park. Shade from rare tropical-looking desert trees was cast over a surprisingly cool, paved path. Emerald, beige, and blue reflections from the plants, sand, and sky resonated over the still water.
Eventually, the pair would end up on a 'pier', a wooden platform constructed over the oasis. Once they were there, with a smile, Koneka moved away from Red for a moment and led on, resting her hands against the railing, and simply took a moment to take it all in. A gentle breeze passed through her fur, ear twitching a bit at the wind. "Surprisingly quiet out here, isn't it?" She gave a look around: this early in the afternoon, there was little traffic around this place. What little there was didn't take this little detour, but kept on the path for the next platform to their left: a half-indoors, half-outdoors music hall, with a few Digimon out on the pier looking like they were setting up for something, the sounds of strums and halfhearted drumming as a Stingmon began to test the sound system.
"Looks like the band will be on for tonight, at least. Ah... been a long while since I've had a day like this..." Koneka chuckled, and looked towards Red: "Probably the same for you as well, isn't it? I wish we had a chance to see each-other more like this..."
Wasn't that the truth. With a somewhat somber tone, the doctor had touched on her own nerve. Both of their work was important, but there was this selfish desire, to just leave that all behind and just be with Red, however that would work. Maybe at some point, but...
Gah, she had to change the subject! "Er, right. How are things going for you? What have you been up to recently?" Easing into small talk, Koneka wore a smile, just trying to keep herself in the present: enjoy what she had now, and not worry about later. It was all she could do, right?
