The enemy Digimon's club struck Shiro's head with a resounding clunk. "Shiro!" Kuro cried, concerned. Hey, sis! If you've got time to be worried... Go worry about the humans!" Kuro was shocked. Had her brother really matured so much in his evolution, that he actually was thinking about someone other than himself during a fight? "I can take this guy by myself!" Nope, apparently not. But where were the humans? Kuro darted back into the fading cloud , her new fur growth feeling terribly ungroomed. But now was not the time for that.
"Hah! No, you're mine! Charged Claw!" Shiro swiped at the distracted ogre with his claws glowing brightly, like the energy blast from earlier. "Don't you dare get distracted from our fight!" he declared. Meanwhile, Kuro passed through the veil... And found her partner collapsed! "Kai!" She shrieked. She had been so distracted by Shiro's fight with the ogre, that she had missed her partner's plight! She charged past Rei, seemingly not seeing her, straight to the fallen boy. He was still alive, barely.
Kuro didn't have a choice. Kai needed to be kept warm. Shiro would have to fight alone. She curled up around the unconscious boy, enveloping him in warm, downy fur.
No, no, no! The stupid human was going to take it away! Its treasure! It was his!
"GET OUT OF MY WAY!" It roared. The attack hit, catching him across the face. Such heavy damage! Enraged further by the pain, the digimon grappled at Shiro's head, attempting to throw him to the side. In the process it had dropped its weapon, leaving himself open while it pushed and struggled against Shiro. Hyogamon had thrown caution to the wind. He needed to get there! He needed to stop the human!
Rei didn't move. Not even when Kuro went flying pass to Kai. Not even to help her, help him. Why didn't she help? What was she doing again? Confusion phased through her mind. A bright light flashed from her pocket. Numb fingers pulled out the digivice and she stared blankly at it. What was it doing? The glistening of an object pulled her focus. Something was forming in the gaping maw of the Dragon!
Her breath caught. Her spirit?
A burst of flames erupted from the Dragons throat, enveloping Rei in a blinding strange light. She yelped in surprise, jumping back some but going nowhere. Did it burn her? No, there was no pain...it was soft. Welcoming. Like a warm bath that made you drowsy. She felt so safe in the flames, exhaustion piled onto her. It would be nice to take a nap in here.
Something small, a lot more smaller than Rei, came towards her. Or did it form from the fire? She couldn't tell. Curious Rei stepped closer, unalarmed by its presence. "Who are you?" It seemed to smile and held out a large hand. She took it without second thoughts. Oh How familiar it felt!
"NOOOOOOOOOO!" The hyogamon cried. A cry that went unheard by the changing human.
Oh, it was a grapple that this thing wanted? Well, a grapple it would get! Shiro dug his back claws into the icy floor, rearing up and throwing his weight into the ogre. "I'll teach you to worry during a fight!" Shiro growled through the ogre's hands as he forced it back. Now this was a proper fight! No more of those useless Rookie shenanigans, where he was constantly ignored by his foe! This was his chance to show Kai once and for all that Shiro was the strongest there is! There was no way he would lose, let alone let it past him!
Kuro looked up at Hyogamon's cry of despair. What had happened? Oh! She could see the form of their companion changing, becoming smaller. It appeared their mission had been a success! One spirit obtained! Now, if only Shiro could finish off his foe... They needed to get Kai somewhere warm and fast!
Well, if he couldn't have it, he would destroy it!
The Digimon let go of Shiro, pointing over his opponent towards Rei. He didn't care, as he was tackled to the ground and gave up. Hyogamons attention was entirely on her. It would be his downfall, but it wouldn't stop his quick last attempts ....The girl had closed her eyes in the process- in accordance to a funny feeling.
Green eyes blinked open in place of golden.
Why is everything sooooo much bigger?
The human now turned digimon, didn't get much of a chance to figure out what had just occurred. The icy ground pitched upwards from underneath her-his feet. Flamon tried jumping out of the way, clumsily, and his foot got caught, encased in the Ice Wall that formed from the Hyogamons direction. He fell to the ground unprepared with an oof. "CAUGHT YA!" In a split second it threw up another, one that the little digimon managed to dodge by scooting back the previous direction. Flamon panicked, trying to pull his foot out, now wedged between the two walls.
"My foot!" He glanced back at it, tugging still, and paused. "My foot?" Her foot was different! Larger with three large protruding claws! She glanced further up her leg, to the weird red ring around her ankle... brown skin? She finally looked down at herself. His bushy orange tail flapped wildly behind her, bristling in her discovery. This isn't what she expected when she found her spirit!
"AAGGGGHHHHHH." He screamed. The familiar warmth of flames cocooned his small body in response, the ice sizzling into liquid as it melted away the hold it had. I'm Free! The poor digimon slipped from between the walls, taking the time to really look over herself.. He examined his hands, patted his wild hair, the unformed stumps of horns, looked back at his tail! Ears were longer! And were those...earrings? He flicked them. Yep. Earrings.
He turned to the wall that had trapped him earlier, staring at her new form reflecting upon its surface. He stared and stared. And stared some more silently. "Why do I look like a boy?!" Flamon eventually yelped. Wait!
The digimon spun around again. Was the fight over?
Shiro's rage grew to a peak! Ignored! How dare this thing ignore him still! In fact, it wasn't even fighting him anymore! His claws tore through the creature's hide, slicing flesh like butter. With each blow, the frost troll's data became less and less stabilized, until at last, Shiro's blow caused it to shatter apart. The white Digimon roared triumphantly to the ceiling of the cave. "DON'T IGNORE ME!" He breathed heavily for a moment, still calming down from his savage attack on another Digimon. He'd been in fights before... But never had he felt... That angry! That savage! What would Kai and Kuro think of him!? Would they be scared!? Shiro didn't want that...
Sheepishly, as if it would negate the savagery he had just shown, Shiro turned around... And saw that his worries were for not. The humans was nowhere to be seen, and Kuro was far more focused on the tiny Digimon which had appeared, and appeared to be fascinated by its reflection in the ice. Shiro was torn between horror that no one had seen his triumph, and relief that his savagery was unknown to Kuro and Kai! Especially Kuro! "Where's Kai?" he finally asked.
Kuro looked away from the little Digimon. "Kai is here." She shifted ever so slightly, to reveal the unconscious human, without exposing him too much to the cold. "We must get him somewhere warm, and fast. The little one is Rei, in Digimon form." She explained, so that Shiro would not have to ask.
"Flamon." He instantly rectified. How did she know that?
It looked like he missed the rest of the fight! The ogre was gone, the last bits of data disappearing through the ceiling above. Thank god! He never wanted to run into one of those ever again! Flamon scurried over in a hurry to the unconscious Kai. Oh this was his fault! If only he had been more careful!
"Oh Kai..." The squeakier boyish voice that was his sounded strange to her. "But where? We would have to go back out through the tundra." He wanted to climb onto Kuro, to see Kai better, but he didn't want to invade the bigger digimons space, remembering how she acted earlier with her when he was Rei. He was so small, she could squish him like a pesky fly... Even with a fire, it might not be enough. They needed to get out of the cold completely! Plus, it wasn't like he knew exactly how to control his powers. It happened all on its own before!
Ears flickered involuntarily.
Flamons head tilted. There was something....weird. His ears twitched again. Like a magnet trying to pull him deeper into the tunnel. Maybe it would find them a different way out? Whatever this was. It would keep them out of the snowstorm at least and wouldn't hurt to try- since they really had no other option. Though that same something was telling him to trust his instincts. So Flamon was going to do just that. "That way." He pointed, already heading out to travel deeper into the tunnels. He spared one last look to the frozen dragon.
For Kai's sake...I hope I'm right.
