Being an "legitimate" bussiness owner had it's perks; you were constantly under the scrutiny of the "banks" that you worked with and you had a constant worry of being outsourced by other better market places. Considering kan didn't do very much business the bank was always offering him deals and the like. He'd do some work on equipment they had or fix up cars, or even guns of their "security". It wasn't very difficult for him to do.
The problem with working for these "banks" is that they were always keeping tabs on the people they used to fix things and with kan's dissaperance for over a year led them to worry that he had been working for another "bank" company. He had it easy though; no one could track him from his store to the places that he worked. They always asked how he did that; and he always answered the same.
"It's a trade secret"
It really was a secret, but it certainly wasn't of his trade. The Spirit user was more or less using his spirit to move himself to and from his work places. With regular humans unable to see the digital half this left him free to move around as he pleased. He couldn't do stupid things that would get his human half in trouble like robbing one of the "banks" or even doing something illegal!
Though the temptation was always there..
The spirit user was passing through a crowded street, phasing through people as they walked towards him not to start any fights. He didn't even have to worry about stop lights and the like but that didn't stop him from following the laws as it was. He was idly waiting for one of the walking signs to turn green....

"Uh, bro?"
"Yeah, Isaac?"
"Why the hell is Satan trying to cross the street?"
For those who had never been touched by the Digital World before, Reavemon was a terrifyingly subtle presence. For those who were frequent dwellers, and therefore capable of seeing him, he was the complete opposite. Isaac was practically staring, jaw dropped, as he noticed the 8-foot tall goatman waiting for the light to change. It was almost absurd in a way. Here they were, standing at your average intersection, and suddenly this goat head just poked out through the crowd. The surrounding people didn't even seem to notice who they were standing with. In fact, they didn't even seem to notice anyone was there! It was as if an entire crosswalk had just gone crazy.
Immediately, the bros looked at each other and nodded. This was Digital World stuff, for sure. If ghosts could be Digimon, so could demons. At the same time, it baffled them that nobody else noticed this. Most Digimon when bio-emerging at least had the courtesy to be in subtle locations. Like the park. Or the cemetery. Or the ruins of the Entertainment District. Not the middle of a bright, sunny day, brazenly walking around the crowd. It wasn't exactly doing anything malicious, but its sheer anonymity was unsettling. They couldn't just let this slide, could they?
Now the brothers, too, elected to wait for the crossing to turn green. Sooner or later the two groups would have to meet in the middle, right? Maybe there they'd get to see a few more answers.

The eyes of many were not turned towards him; he was never worried about the huge masses of people that japan had to offer. It was the few that could, and the few that would see him. The ones that elected to do things about it were the most worrying. Those that called themselves the good guys or whatever. Was he a bad man? Only time could really tell on that venue. The light flicked to a green walking symbol; the arms of the little man on the "screen" flicking back and forth. With a dissatisfied grunt he strode forward; passing directly through the person in front of him.
They shivered and mumbled something about the wind; as if an unnatural presence hadn't been there to cause it. He continue forward; approaching quickly the center point. People seemed to walk straight through him. After all they weren't data or data prone like he was. He could of walked early now that he thought about it; considering the cars would be just like the people.
"One continues to forget doesn't he..."
A soft murmer directed at no one; couldn't be heard by those not touched. But for those aware the words were quite clear. The crowd around him moved quicker than he; though his pace simply was lesser than they. He was in no rush he had plenty of time after all...

"They're just walking through him." Elliot's voice was a hushed whisper, as chilled as the air around them.
"I know. I can see that." Isaac's voice was more determined, eyes narrowed as he kept a steely gaze locked on the strange demon.
"Isn't that weird? I'm pretty sure we can touch Digimon!"
"Maybe this one just can't be?"
"It has to be a Digimon, right?"
"No, Elliot. We're just strollin' along with Beelzebub tonight." He briefly stopped his stakeout to roll his eyes at Elliot's question. "There's two types of beings we know about. Humans and Digimon. Trust me, I used to be way more sure there we angels and demons and aliens than weird data monsters too, but that's just how it all panned out. If it isn't like us, it's a Digimon."
The two simply waited for the light to change, blinking. As it shifted and everyone started crossing the intersection, Isaac got an idea.
"I'm gonna walk into it."
"You can't be serious," Elliot replied, eyes wide. "What if it hurts you? Or steals your soul? Or pickpockets you? Come on, we shouldn't be messing with this kind of thing."
"What else are we gonna do? Just let it pass?"
"Yes!"
"Okay. You do that. I'm gonna walk into it." With that Isaac started striding forward, trying to slip into the same natural pace and forward-facing stare as the rest of the crowd. Even as he swore a voice spilled from its mouth, sending a chill down his spine, he continued his steady march. After all, what was the worst that could happen? He just phases through it like everyone else?

Business was simply on his mind and the murmur of others did nothing to gain his attention. What could they honestly be talking about that would interest him in the slightest? He shifted his grip on his weapon, allowing for it to serve more as a walking staff than what it was meant for.
His stride continued uninterrupted until... He collided with something very solid and certainly nothing of the real. The spirit user felt his heart drop for a moment as he stumbled slightly. Letting the end of the staff planting on the ground so he didn't go too far out of the way. He phased through several other people in the meantime while he turned his neck rather unnaturally to stare at what he bumped into.
It was a child; or at least what he considered to be a child. His expression hardened considerably and he stood up straight. Had one of the banks become digitally aware? If so that was a grievous problem... He gritted his teeth just a bit eyes narrowing at them.
"That was a foolish thing to do in the middle of the street Child."
A brief pause followed and the spirit shook it's head.
"If we are to talk it won't be here. An alley or something will have to do."
Without waiting for an answer the spirit continued forward; ignoring the normal walking laws to go into a nearby alleyway.

Unfortunately for Isaac, he was far less incorporeal than the Digimon he bumped into. Whereas his target was able to take advantage of his strange physique to steady himself after the stumble, Isaac was promptly launched into the crowd. Considering he appeared to be rebounding off of thin air and into a few pedestrians, Isaac managed to earn a few dirty looks. He sheepishly smiled as he righted himself, only to stop short when he heard the strange creature talk.
Not only had it told him he made a big mistake, but it also seemed to want to speak further. It started walking away towards an alley, an increasingly bewildered pair of brothers watching. The two turned to each other, trying to process just what the hell was going on here. As Isaac started to walk, Elliot gently gripped him by the collar.
"You are not following that guy." Elliot's eyes shined with worry, and his grip was firm. It was clear he did not want Isaac getting anywhere near that suspicious character. However, Isaac seemed resolute.
"Look, if we don't investigate this, who will?" he asked, Elliot sighing in realization. When Isaac got into that kind of mood, he was impossible to talk down. "There's an invisible Digimon wandering around. He could really hurt somebody if let unchecked. Best case scenario we can talk him down. Worst case scenario? I'm a tougher fighter than I look. Come on, you know I can hold my own. So what do you say? Are we doing this?"
"Well, I gue- we!?"
Upon realizing that he and Isaac were already witnesses in this together, he sighed and started to follow. Soon the two would have made their way into the shady alley, Isaac making sure Elliot was protectively kept behind him. Both brothers' hands were in their pockets, as if ready to channel their Digivices at any second.

Why were children always bumping into him? Or rather drawn to him by the interaction of the digital world? First it was those others so long ago he had forgotten their names and barely remembered their faces. Now it was others in such a way that seemed to pull him back in again. Were they like the youths that just wanted to save everyone? Or were they gifted in other talents like he? Even if they were now that certainly didn't mean they would be later. He needed to straighten this out in some manner; they obviously would find him again.
Honestly he's not that hard to notice either if you knew where to look
Gritting his teeth a bit; he was left idle for a minute, leaning irritably against a wall. If bone saw was here he would have less to deal with than this; she could of simply talked with them off to the side and he could continue on the business like he SHOULD. The two eventually came into the alleyway; hands in their pockets. No doubt they had their digivice's there. The question if things went sour... would it be them he'd be fighting or something else? Could they of had digimon hidden nearby or perhaps they were a spirit like he. Too many questions and far too little time. He could scold them for their foolishness, but he'd rather get to the core of the problem.
"What it is that you want?"

What did they want? Now, that was a question that'd be hard to find an answer for. Elliot didn't even know why he was here, after all. He was just following Isaac, who was just following his hunch. It came together to form a giant spiral of uncertainty, with this new face right in the middle of it. Hesitantly, the two brothers made their approach, Isaac's face a stoic mask of determination and Elliot's wide-eyed and worrisome.
The Digimon, if it even was a Digimon, didn't seem hostile at the very least. It placidly hung in front of the brothers, calmly addressing them. If it wanted them dead, it would be right here in this alley while they were still in human form. They second they changed into Digimon form, they would have had a fighting chance. This moment of hesitation was enough for the brothers to believe that they weren't about to get killed. Was that why they felt safe enough to go through with this?
For a while, both were quiet. Elliot looked down at his feet, while Isaac looked the strange Digimon up and down. Finally, after some contemplation, he started to speak. "I just want to know who you are," he said, "And why you're here."

After his question it seemed that they didn't know how to immediately answer. One of them looked uncertain while the other stared forward at the spirit. It seemed like that they differed on doing this; one of them far more determined looking than the other. In fact one of them looked like they might run if given the opportunity.
Or fight with little provocation
He raised his brows a little bit; one of the two looking at their feet while the other seemed to inspect the spirit. Kan felt a hearty chuckle pass through his body after the child asked his questions. Who? Who was he? Why was he here? Oh the foolish kids; he could say quite whatever he wanted and wouldn't be questioned if it was too far out of the norm. But he could feel his spirit grow agitated with him over that thought.
What's the matter?
Tell them the truth. The next step grows near.
Kan blinked a few times and shifted ; he ran a hand across the scythe; feeling the power that was the essence of darkblood recede. It took not more than a few moments before the well dressed man was revealed; a digivice in one hand and a briefcase in the other. He didn't exactly look too pleased with the development that his spirit forced upon him.
"That was reavermon. The prime spirit that accompanies me and directs the lot of us towards where we need to go."
Kan would hold up his digivice the cracked screen flickering as though it was reacting to the presence of two other users. He set his jaw a little bit; the last few words of his spirit ringing in his head.
"I'm Uric Kan, a businessman and practitioner of the digital. Who are you two?"

Isaac's sigh of relief was obvious as Uric dispelled his spirit, his on-edge look immediately giving way to a far more relaxed stance. "Oh, thank goodness. You're just another one of us," Isaac said, at this point far too used to being candid with his spirit user status. Elliot shot him a brief, disgruntled look at such an implicating "us," but Isaac either didn't notice or didn't mind. "We thought, like, you were some kind of data ghost or something." Eyeing the spirit user's Digivice, he found himself musing a little bit. "Although I gotta say, how do you do that whole undetectable thing? I swear, if I could just go around in Devidramon form like that . . ."
"Isaac, no," Elliot interrupted. He, too, was looking Uric's Digivice up and down, although he seemed a lot less impressed and a lot more concerned. "Wait, is your Digivice okay?" he asked suddenly, taking a step forward to get a closer look. "It's all cracked up. I mean, that can't be from a fight, can it? What happened?" Suddenly, so many questions from someone so nervous previously! Elliot's compassion tended to get the better of his suspicion in all but the worst times, and right now was seemingly qualifying.
"Anyway, I'm Isaac, and this is my little bro, Elliot. Pleased to meet you," he said, grinning. "Although . . . businessman? How the heck do you have enough time to juggle that with what we do? I mean, even with the whole time thing, it gets really tiring. Surprised you don't end up passing out in the middle of your meetings or something like that.
What kind of business do you do?"

The sigh of relief was expected, he had for the most part looked quite threatening in one aspect or another. He felt a frown tugged on his face when he was addressed with more questions. As well as given the answers that he had wanted; names were important and without those he wouldn't be able to accomplish much in the way of anything.
"Data ghost? In the real? No. That's more common in the digital from what I've seen."
He'd shake his head and feel his frown deepen.
"Reavermon and those that follow in the Darkblood line are able to keep themselves hidden from those unaware of the digital world. You'd have to ask one of them how they managed it."
He'd shrug; if the spirit didn't feel like sharing it wouldn't. He looked down a the digivice; the inquiry about the digivice making the spirit user shake his head. It had been like that as long as he had it. The one who was nervous before seemed more orientated towards seeing if things were okay rather than abilities. There within lay the priorities.
"Been like that since I got it; goes to say something about it's user I guess."
Another shrug; his eyes focusing on Isaac; more questions? Of course; they'd want to prolong a meeting. Though then again they were children and could only be expected to ask this many of them. They were thirsty for information; about others and likely their own abilities no doubt.
"A pleasure yes-"
He'd pause again; now they were inquiring about how he managed to juggle things. It was simple really he had his... He'd frown slowly; realizing that they were likely struggling to do what he didn't have a problem doing.
".....I don't really sleep that often. That and my... Wife is digitally aware so she runs the shop when I'm out."
The last question made him pause considerably; he could be honest and tell them or he could lie and-
NOTHING BUT. THE TRUTH. WE GROW CLOSER.
Kan would wince at the blaring angry voice in his head; it wasn't reavermon that spoke this time. It was Silvermon who was known to have a shorter temper than his comrades. He didn't want to tell them what he did; but if he displeased his spirits he'd just end up at a college party again.
"Legally? I sell electronics, computers and make repairs to them and vehicles."
The rest as well.
I was getting to that.
you're a terrible liar.
"Illegally? I work for what you could call a bank, repair whatever the inquire me to or deliveries that they need. It's a good way of keeping the shop afloat."
He'd snort and shake his head.
"You both are new to this I reckon? Else you wouldn't be asking as many questions as you have."

So it was something intrinsic to those spirits, huh? Isaac looked a little bit disappointed, but at the same time it seemed like a far likelier alternative to some sort of trained technique. Then again, it wasn't like Uric's Digimon screamed subtlety. A small, lurking shadow creature would have made far more sense for that than a giant demon. Oh well. Not like Isaac was the arbiter of spirit acceptability or anything like that. "Ah, I gotcha. Oh well, it was a nice thought," Isaac remarked, shrugging.
Elliot's thoughts were a lot less nice and a lot more worried. That was a really weird statement Uric just made about his Digivice! Did he just imply that he was broken or something? He opened his mouth thoughtfully, as if to say something, but quickly rescinded the thought. After all, that would've come off really rudely if he said it wrong, right? As much as he liked to help, sometimes silence was golden.
The answer being not getting much sleep wasn't too surprising. Although if anything, that just seemed like it'd cause further problems! Spending way more than 24 hours active but sleeping less than the average couldn't have felt great. Then again, maybe he spent so much time doing stuff he just ended up burning through all of his tiredness. It wasn't a healthy sounding life, but the bros weren't exactly going to tell someone twice their age how to live theirs.
This was bound to be a weird conversation, considering the bros were facing a rather demonic Digimon in a shady back alley, yet even with these factors kept in mind they seemed shocked at how quickly things turned illicit. "Wait. Illegal bank repairs?" Elliot asked, trying to keep the conversation within that realm. Maybe it was curiosity, maybe it was concern. After all, what the heck kind of repairs were illegal? Drug production technology? Bombs? Hacking computers? Neither of those 3 options boded well for deliveries, either. "What do you mean by that?"
Isaac seemed to care more about the insinuation that they were new at this. Maybe it was because Elliot already had the Totally Legitimate Business questions on lock. "Not really. We've been at this for a whole year at this point," he said, a bit of a proud grin on his face. Considering that almost everyone the bros knew seemed to start around that time or later, it seemed pretty significant to them!

Isaac seemed disappointed in the fact that the ability was unlikely to be gained; though with the smooth dismissal of it caused the spirit user to regret even saying anything about it. Some abilities were best left... unsaid it seems. Another error for the books so they said.
"Indeed. You might consider conversing with your spirits, they might have some pointers or perhaps abilities you hadn't known about."
The next question brought a small frown to kans face again. He'd shake his head slowly; it seemed like they didn't understand. He'd have to lay it bare; it'd be easier for the both of them if they didn't have to think about it.
"The... group I work for holds a lot of money, they're referred to as a bank. They have me fix things for them; deliver things that I've fixed or whatever they really need in that regard. Understand that it's meant to be fickle; locations and times change. Like people. Don't really dwell on it all right?"
They've been at this a single year? Kan put a hand up to his temple and rubbed it softly. He remembered how hard the first year was, the second and the third. When his wife finally popped around he was a mess and she was thankfully able to help out. Even if it was a job at first.
"First couple years are rough; been at this for about a decade thus far and I don't expect to have any issues till my third one."
A small shrug.
"Seems you got some answers and so did I. My question is where to we go from here?"

At mention of conversing with their spirits, both brothers seemed to frown a little. Elliot's was more sorrowful in nature, matched with a sad glimmer in his eyes, while Isaac's was paired with steel-eyed focus. "We've tried before. We haven't really had much luck reaching them," Isaac finally said. "They've gotta be, like, dormant or something. More of a passive, guiding influence than anything. Some a lot stronger than others." That shoutout to Gargoylemon got Elliot looked down at his feet a little, somewhat uncomfortable with how overwhelming that spirit's influence was. Why did it have to be so impossible?
"There's a friend of ours who is really in tune with her spirits, though. I'm pretty sure they're, like, twice as alive as ours at least. So we're going to her later to try and get ours checked out," he added. "Maybe with her help, we'll finally crack this mystery."
Even someone as naive as Elliot had a feeling that this was less of a bank and more of a "bank." Nevertheless, he nodded at Uric's explanation. "I guess I understand," he said, quite obviously still confused. "But if it's illegal, why would you tell us about it? Aren't you worried about getting in trouble if people overheard?" Elliot didn't exactly want to be the one who squealed, of course. Not when there was a powerful spirit user floating around. Despite that, he couldn't help but shake the thought that this man was, if not dangerous now, at least potentially dangerous.
Then again, Luke and Iko seemed dangerous too, and they were fine! Right?
Any pride Isaac had about doing this for a year seemed to melt away as Uric pointed out his next year. And the year after that. Then he just outright said he was at this for a decade, At this point, Isaac realized he really wasn't much in the grand scheme of things. "Wait, wait, wait. A decade? Like, a whole ten years?" he asked, trying to get his bearings. "What's that even like? Like, how much of the Digital World have you seen by now?"
It seemed Uric wanted to hurry things along, however, judging by his question of where he and the bros could go from there. The two looked at each other, shrugging somewhat. "Are you doing business now?" Elliot asked, as if wondering if he was interrupting something.

Kan scratched at his neck as isaac explained about their spirits a bit. So they were more passive than his? That wouldn't really do; they had to have a push and pull relationship to get anywhere as a spirit. The spirit would always want something, and it was up to the user to decide if the spirit itself should get it or not. At least that's how his relationship had started out.. now it was more his spirits directing him since they were a bit... more content as it were.
"Likely you just haven't interacted with them enough or done something that they're actually interested in. You might have to prove yourselves before they make more with the niceties."
He'd set the case down, crossing his arms slowly. There was another that they talked about? Another spirit user? The crowd of people that kan was aware of grew yet again by one; he couldn't help but grit his teeth at this. She might know something; could even be stronger than he was. The youths always did seem to be better off but at the same time...
"If I was worried about it I wouldn't of said anything."
Kan admitted plainly; he was actually less worried about himself and more worried about the person that would of overheard. Especially if they decided to do anything about it; there were a few people that would have his back as it were. With a shrug at yet another question; it was surprise at the length of time that he had been doing this... The man paused and felt his face tug in a bit of a frown.
"......While I don't know every secret there is in the digital world I have been to a vast majority of it's areas. Tundra, mountains, desert, plains, forest... Some I wouldn't want to go to again either. As for how it's like? How do you think it feels traveling abroad? Because that's how it's like. Though the fighting is honestly something I'd rather avoid if I can help it."
He set his jaw a little bit and confirmed the time frame.
"Twelve years in fact. Though I'd count the years after I had gotten life sorted out more than the struggling ones."
He'd shrug and pause; was he doing business now? Well he was on his way somewhere, but it wasn't like a solid timeframe of when it had to be done after all. He could always come back another day.
"Yes. But it's something that I can always come back to. My work is fairly fluid."
He'd glance down at the case; it was just another fix it job. They had told him if he couldn't make it in that he wouldn't have to worry. They just wanted it by the end of the week....
"But as is, digital take priority. So let's just go with no and leave it at that all right?"
