If you go Down in the Woods Today [Asaemon|Open]

Brad the Bearmon hummed to himself as he strolled through the woods. He liked it here, mainly because this part of the digital world was the place where he could find the most delicious digi-honey. While of course it wasn't exactly easy to find, Brad made it a little hobby of his to find some.
Of course the 'easiest' to find was usually guarded by insect digimon, and Brad didn't want to incur the wrath of a swarm of FanBeemon. But the hidden digihoney? The ones ageing away for years, enriched with a beautiful flavor in tree trunks, that was the good stuff. Brad had so far uncovered three in his lifetime. Perhaps this would be the day he would find his fourth?
Brad was dressed in his normal clothes - a red t-shirt covering his chest, as well as blue bracers on his paws and a baseball cap on his head. That was why he liked it in the Eastern part of the server - not too hot like the south, not too cold like the north. It was, as a certain human with curly blonde hair said, "just right".
As Brad walked along the leaf-strewn path, the sunlight above glistening through the trees as the breeze moved the leaves, he kept his nose high and his eyes peeled, sniffing the air, hoping to find some lunch.

As Katsura and Nyao the Salamon was wandering deeper into the forest, Katsura couldn't help but think about what she had done. The large forest didn't do much impression on Katsura who had far more on her shoulders already. She took out her diary and rapidly started scribbling, the more she wrote the more anxious Katsura became. Nyao looked at Katsura pitifully, "Katsura, I know it's hard but please stop writing like that."
Katsura made one last sentence, this time in bloody red. "Sigh, I know..." Katsura stopped writing and started paying attention to her surroundings. Nyao spotted a Bearmon hunting for honey, "Look Katsura, a bear" "What are you talking about? There's no men around here, eh?" It took Katsura a moment to realize what Nyao meant. Then Katsura panicked, frightened Katsura lifted Nyao op in the air pointing her at Brad as if Nyao was a gun, "Hey, put me down, he hadn't even done anything yet."
Bare over with Katsura's behavior, this is her first time in the digital world.

"To Terminus City we shall go, So you better not be slow!
Get caught by a Gatomon, And consider yourself gone!
(Vocalizing)
So you better stick along, And join us in this song!"
- Clad in similar tunics, marching perfectly synchronized. While at first glance -or any after that, for that matter- the platoon of Pipmon wouldn't be capable of instilling fear upon potential threats, they could at least claim to be somewhat entertaining. Long enough to make their escape, perhaps?
But despite their odds in battle the rodent Digimon were as upbeat as their song was jolly. For days their journey across the Network Plains and through the Server Woods had been fairly uneventful, so much so that it couldn't have been more straightforward if they had tried. At this pace Terminus City would only be a week or so away.
But while the others were bellowing out their lines there was the lone Pipmon at the head of the group, equipment comprised of a heavily battered wooden sword always at the ready. The gentle breeze which was carried through the forest provided him with all the information he could possibly want: There was someone up ahead! And be it human or Digimon, he wouldn't go down without a fight!

The first thing Brad noticed as he walked through the forest was a human with a Salamon. "Ah, I don't seem to have met this person before" he remarked to himself. "There's been rather a lot of humans showing up lately. What does it mean though?" he scratched his chin as he approached. She seemed to be scribbling in a book for some reason.
"Hello-" Brad began, but the human suddenly picked up Salamon as a weapon and appeared to be frightened of him. "Oh. Don't worry, I don't mean any harm" Brad assured her, giving a little wave with his paw.
He was distracted by the sound of singing coming along from the path behind him. That was... interesting. Brad had never heard a song like that before. His ears twitched as he focused his hearing.
"My name's Brad by the way" Brad said to the frightened human. "And it appears we're not alone here in these woods. I hope they're not bad digimon" he remarked.
Then he saw the digimon in question - a brown rodent digimon wearing a green tunic, padded trousers and holding a wooden sword. Brad found his hat quite snazzy - green with a red feather in it. "Hello!" he called out, waving.

Katsura hesitated, then Nyao sighed overbearing. "He is not going to hurt you Katsura. Look at him" Katsura looked at the bear who was at that moment waving friendly to Katsura. Katsura finally lessened her grip which Nyao exploited to jump back on the grass. (Should I had called him a teddy bear? Nah, who knows how she would react to a Monzaemon). "My name's Brad by the way", knowing her manners Katsura bowed before Brad "My name is Ise, Katsura", then she heard some music and in distance a rat with a wooden sword could be seen. It appeared to Katsura that even the digital world had "thugs and cons". This was a phenomenon Katsura was far more used to which is why she was far less fearful when Pipmon appeared. She had always been manipulative and stealthy enough not to be the target and this time she had Nyao. Katsura gave Nyao a questioning look by which Nyao nodded. They were ready to fight if Pipmon couldn't be manipulated.

It seems like the presence of both human and Digimon came as quite the surprise. A few confused squeaks later and half the platoon would already be cowering in fear in the bushes, while the other half sprinted from whence they came as fast as their short legs could carry them. This left only the lone Pipmon, sighing in the palm of his paw. There was not much of a point in keeping up the facade anymore, was there now?
"Ehh, greetings." He replied rather reluctantly, only barely summoning the effort to take off his hat with a fluid swirl. He could feel how the eyes of the other Pipmon were constantly upon him from their various hiding places, making him the ambassador once again. "We are but passersby to Terminus City and mean no harm. Nor.. did we.. ehh.. mean anything by the whole Gatomon phrase.." Pipmon refrained from looking directly at Nyao despite (only) being a Salamon, instead choosing to focus on Bearmon. He too was quite taken in by the attire of the other Digimon, although he wouldn't be caught deleted wearing anything similar.
Slowly his gaze shifted to the being towering over the lot of them. A human? He had heard stories before about how they could be partnered with Digimon despite coming from another world altogether. It has always been a curious phenomenon to him. Then again, he valued his freedom enough to be independent, so at all times he had kept a safe distance. Until now, that was.

Nothing was more lovely than a relaxing walk through the thick forest, especially after the lingering ice and snow of the blizzard had finally subsided. So far away from civilization, not many souls around, tranquility wherever she went; perfectly wonderful. It was with a certain kick to her legs that she hopped through the shrubbery, beholding with verve the colorful flora. Too often, outsiders and digimons themselves focused entirely on the digital creatures, ignoring the beauty of the plants this world contains. She did not, even if she was alone this time due to Owen having no interest in such sentimentalities.
The Arnamon carried with her her usual equipment, meaning her crystal bow on her back, her green scarf, waist pockets and crystal ocarina within them. She was not preparing herself for any particular situation, be it peaceful or hostile, but she was way too provident to leave town without her gear. Besides, she felt like it was already part of her natural self, so leaving it behind was like being naked to a human with an average sense of shame.
She suddenly stopped, carrying an expression of curiosity as she beheld a Bearmon, a Salamon and one of those female humans interacting. Not the most pleasant of interactions, and the human appeared a little bit paranoid, but everything seemed to turn out just fine, which made her smile. Joining them with a not very jolly tune was a kind of digimon she had never seen before. It looked like a rodent, not that she knew what a rodent was in the first place.
His... or her? In any case, the mates of that digimon appeared afraid of the two other digimons and the human, quickly hiding in the shrubbery of the forest. Cion was not afraid, since they did not appear or act viciously. Fortunately, neither the rodent-digimon wished to have a fight, explaining himself to be a mere traveller alongside his group. Phew, a close one, she already thought she had to intervene.
But she got another idea, pulling out her ocarina, she was preparing herself for the digimons to sing again, wishing to play along when the time was ready.

"Nice to meet you then, Katsura" Brad said, ignoring the fact that the human was scared of him earlier. "I take it that you're rather new to the digital world?" he asked, tilting his head. "Or... had some bad experiences?" he ventured forward that possibility.
Turning toward the Pipmon, Brad noticed that there seemed to be a whole group of them. And... most of them seemed terrified of him, or the human, he wasn't sure. There was just one remaining. He politely took off his hat and introduced himself. Brad quickly did the same with his own, although pretty much just lifted it off his head.
"I see, so you're walking all the way to Terminus City?" Brad asked, curiously. "And not going by Trailmon? I have to say that's surprising" he remarked.
The Pipmon also apologized for the Gatomon remark. Which Brad realized, was generally the thing that Salamons evolve into. But the Salamon didn't seem to be bothered by it. The Pipmon then seemed to be fascinated by Katsura.
Brad again had his attention drawn toward yet another digimon walking along the road. This one looked like a lavender beast digimon with a crystal bow on her back. Gosh, there were lots of digimon showing up with weapons in these parts. She seemed to be on standby in case hostilities broke out, but fortunately none did. She then seemed to hold a musical instrument of sorts up to her mouth.
"Ooh, interesting" Brad said. "Excuse me, miss, uh..." he had no idea what digimon she was or what her name was. "What is that thing you have there?" he asked, curiously.

Katsura's POV Katsura observed the army of Pipmon crumble before her eyes. (thank God that thugs are cowards on their own) Katsura remarked in her head commenting on the sudden change of behavior in Clad. While Clad was, in Katsura's opinion, half hearty apologizing to Nyao (Katsura doubted he would act so submissive had he not been alone or if Nyao wasn't related to whatever a Catomon is) she took the time to look around. It took Katsura no time to pinpoint the locations of the remaining Pipmon. ( A rat both literally and figuratively, no surprise here) Katsura thought as she reverted to her default expression. Whatever strength these Pipmon attempted to demonstrate, Katsura was blatantly unimpressed "Ehh, greetings." Katsura nodded to acknowledge Clad's presence. Katsura was relieved to know that Clad wasn't intending to fight. Feeling relatively safe, and not too interested in music, Katsura turned to Brad. "I take it that you're rather new to the digital world?" "Mmhm" Katsura responded "Or... had some bad experiences?" Katsura looked away for a minute, it appears that asking that question was hitting a soft spot which even Katsura struggles to hide. "Something like that..." (Author's note: this reaction is related to her prologe arc). She returned to look at Brad as to not be inappropriate
Nyao's POV Nyao looked at this Pipmon, it appeared that Clad wasn't that bad at least on his own. Clad could even be nice, Nyao was however slightly offended by Clad's refusal to look directly at her. Nyao didn't show it as to not escalate the situation. Clad already stated that he didn't wish to fight and that was relieving for Nyao. "Something like that..."(Don't worry Katsura, I won't let anyone harm you. I promise to keep you safe) Strangely, as Nyao made those thoughts, the cracks on her holy ring had grown slightly larger. The sound was too low for most beings but as a rat, pipmon might hear it. It appears that this Salamon will not become an Angewomon.

Not quite sure if the best course of action would be to walk away now, Pipmon just took it all in. The disdain the human had for new Digimon -or just his species in particular- wasn't hard to read off off her. He couldn't exactly blame her: While the feeling wasn't mutual, to many Digimon humans were just as much as a stain as a rat would be in the human world. Hostility was to be expected somewhere (literally) along the way.
"Trailmon? I'm afraid most of them lack either the bits or the courage to go through with such a plan. One rampaging GranLocomon and you can still deal with the fallout from it years -and generations- later." He rubbed the back of his head as he briefly turned back towards Brad the Bearmon, only to focus his attention on the faint cracking noise. As it turns out, the holy ring around Salamon's neck was the culprit here. An inner debate on the subject on whether or not to comment on it followed. Perhaps he was not in the position to say anything, but he ended up giving in. "I'm sure you already know about it, but it appears your holy ring is busted. Might want to have it checked out, or.. if this happens to be going deeper than just physical damage.. ehh.. a pilgrimage to Luminas City is said to do wonders."
Enough Salamon psychology for the time being! In an attempt to keep the situation from getting possibly even more tense, Pipmon glanced over his shoulder to check on the remainder of his platoon. Most of the rodent Digimon had gathered in full view whilst being securely packed together in case hostilities broke out. Frantically glancing around for the first signs of danger, most were now watching Arnamon from the corner of their eyes.

Just as Cion tried to mimic the rodent-digimons' melody, she was suddenly startled by Brad the Bearmon who had noticed her. Putting her arms down, she at first looked at him with a puzzled expression, before suddenly grinning brightly and waving to him with rapid movements of her left hand's fingers.
Coming a bit closer, the stranger asked him what it was she had in her hand, a topic she happily talked about. Holding it for Brad to behold, she grinned at him. "It's an ocarina made of crystal, a rather uncommon musical instrument." She told him, faint rays piercing through treetops which were reflected from the instrument's surface in faint prismatic colors, "Oh, Cion is my name, Arnamon the frame, hehe." She introduced herself, something that was of course also directed towards the others strangers in their ranks. "Nice to meet you all."
He stance, her expression and her voice were mostly mellow and slightly fidgety, just like it almost always was. She did not fear the other beings around her, having the gut feeling that Brad would be someone who would stand by her side in case something went wrong. Yeah, something of the Bearmon reminded him of Owen, though... she could not quite figure it out; probably the general serene attitude.
Giving the Pipmon a brief wave with her hand, she turned towards the human and her Salamon, whose golden ring appeared to be hyper up, literally speaking. "Is something the matter?" She wondered, wishing to help out if she could. The Pipmon made his suggestion clear that the ring be broken, but she was not too sure. Perhabs it could be fixed!

Brad was rather happy that everyone here appeared to be friendly. So much to talk about. The honey could wait, there were friends to be made here most probably. First, he turned to Katsura, seeing her expression confirm that she did have an unfortunate experience here somewhere in the digital world that resulted in such a defensive greeting.
"Well then, that's not a problem, I'd be happy to assist you in getting acquainted with the place" Brad said, smiling. He then noticed something unusual about Nyao's holy ring. "Um... is everything alright with that?" he asked, unsurely. His keen beast senses could pick up an odd noise from it.
He then turned his attention to the Pipmon. "I see, so you can't afford to travel by that method?" the Bearmon asked. "Well, not to worry, walking can be good for the mind" he tilted his head. "Hmm. I admit in my travels I haven't seen a platoon of digimon like you around. Is platoon the right word? Squad? Battalion? Squadron?" he hoped at least one of them was right. "Anyway, are you affiliated with any army perhaps?" he was interested to hear more.
And then there was lastly the Arnamon. "Wow, that's a very pretty instrument you have there" he said, appreciating the glittering rainbow colors of it. "Well, hello Cion, my name's Brad, I'm obviously a Bearmon" he said, introducing himself to her.
Now then, with introductions complete, Brad returned to Nyao and the problem with the ring, brushing down his T-shirt as he did so. "I have to say I've never heard of a holy ring cracking... is it serious?" he asked the digimon, supposing she would be the one who would know such a thing.

Curious, Katsura turned to Nyao: "What is a "holy ring"? Why all the attention?" Nyao didn't had the heart to explain the concept of Holy Rings given her current situation. Nyao sent a smile as to not making Katsura nervous. (Katsura has suffered enough as it is, she's a good girl and she needs someone to protect her. I'm not a monster, I'm... Her protector). While this rationalization had appeased the ring, giving that it stopped cracking, it didn't do anything to the current cracks. "No-Nothing to worry about, I'm fine!" Nyao said Katsura knew this manipulate strategy but she could also tell that this lie was an attempt to protect her. Katsura returned the smile and walked out to a bush for a while (this is the reason, she hadn't responded to most other posts), she came back a while later with long leaves that she wrapped around the cracks. "There, much better!"

"We tend to go for platoon. Depends on how many of us are around." Pipmon replied to Brad as he turned his attention back towards the gathering before him. "And while it's in our coding to group together like this, but I wouldn't say there is an actual army. Some Asaemon have aspirations for greatness, but to hold sway over us you would have to look further down the line. Those Digimon tend to.. isolate themselves." His words slowly trailed off, shuddering to his very core at the thought.
He kept quiet at first as further introductions were made. He had never actually seen the use in having a name of his own, given that he had grown up in an environment where you could call out someone amongst hundreds. No problem whatsoever. When he finally decided to speak up, he once more took off his hat and gave a quick bow. "The name is plain ol' Pipmon, with my companions back there being.. also Pipmon. None as fancy as Cion, I'm afraid." He hadn't yet heard of the Arnamon species, but with humans coming up with new Digimon the way they did, it was hard to keep track. But keeping track he did: It was wise to know as much of the world around you as you possibly could.
The display between Nyao and her human partner on the other hand was somewhat painful to watch for him. Lying through clenched teeth wasn't exactly the way by which he wanted operate. Then again, it wasn't up to him to make the most of it, given how one glance at his direction had probably marked him for life. "Anyways.. I am not quite sure, but something tells me that checking up on the others would be the right course of action. But if you have any more questions or want to travel with us, you needn't worry. No doubt there is still time for that."

Oh, Cion finally understood what it was about the human girl. She was a neophyte, maybe even one with a bad first impression. Well, nothing that could not be fixed, and Bread the Bearmon already volunteered to do so, and if they needed or wanted the Arnamon's assistance as well, she would be happy to bear a hand. Unfortunately, the girl did not really respond to that, though Nyao the Salamon apparently fixed the problem with her ring, making it stop throwing out sparks. "Splendid." She commented, glad that everything was seemingly alright.
As Bread was speaking with the sole Pipmon that was not a milquetoast, he made the fair point that travelling was healthy for body, mind and spirit. It hopefully was some alleviation for the Pipmons who could not afford more comfortable ways of transportation. Though considering how pretty and mostly safe the forest was, if they only had a drop of esthesia within them, they surely could appreciate its beauty. And when Pipmon bowed, she happily bowed to him as well. "I like the name; pleased to meet you Pipmon." She responded, giving him a rapt smile.
She had no real opinion about the Pipmon's suggestion to travel together, to a destination she did not even know yet. But she had interest in getting to know Brad better, so if he was to follow the batallion of Pipmons, so would she. Turning to the Bearmon, she beamed with joy when he complimented her instrument. "Thank you! And you have a cool cap! Nice to meet you, Brad the Bearmon." He displayed her appreciation and courtesy without hesitation.
Remaining quiet, she noted that the air was still somewhat thick. There was no real consensus on what to do, and Brad seemed concerned about the cracked holy ring. "Uhm, can someone explain me what a holy ring is?" She asked the others with folded arms, having truly never heard about them. In all honesty, she had mostly interacted with Owen and their clients, so... she was a bit inexperienced in general digital knowledge.
