And thus, Coolmon felt that the time to say goodbye for now had come. "...I think I should just stay here. Don't wanna cause you two to have problems over there because I can't turn into a human or anything..."
Coolmon felt like she was choking those words out. It felt bad. Like she wanted to cry. She couldn't even figure out why. Were they even listening to her? They were kind of checking that phone thing...Nngh.
Coolmon fidgeted, twiddled her digits, et cetera. She was hoping this would go over smoothly. "Uh...Maybe I'll...yeah, I'll go back and keep Birdy company?"

It was sad, looking at how soon Coolmon and Unica would have to get separated, but that was something that had to be done, more or less. No human was bound to react to a giant pink bunny that moved and talk, and the risk was just too great for her to try to pass as a doll or something of the sort, and thus... that's where they would part ways, at least temporarily. Neither Yuu nor Kyo knew why, but that was probably not the last they've seen of either Birdie or Coolmon.
Despite its vastness, the Digital World just tended to... reunite people at random for the most interesting reasons. But that was something they have to take care of later; now there were more interesting matters at hand.
Like... reuniting a girl with her parents. Kyo took Unica's note, her own cell phone and dialed the number written there. She was expecting to find at least one frantic adult on the other end, yet she would proceed to calmly tell them that their daughter was safe and that they were on the train station, and arrange to meet as soon as they could.
Once that was done, that would probably be the end of the day. It had been pretty tiring, for sure. Yet also... quite fulfilling.

Unica was so excited! Her friends were coming with her to meet back up with her parents, and her parents would be able to see her new friends. She thought of how fun it would be to wake up with Yuu, Kyo, and Coolmon every day, going on adventures and meeting strange new worlds and creatures. She imagined them living together and being friends forever, and this delusion continued even as Kyo dialed the number into her cellphone. As the Plotmon-in-disguise slowly explained the situation to Unica's mother on the other end the line, Coolmon spoke up. Unica turned, her joyous expression fading away into one of confusion. What was Bunny talking about? Didn't she want to go home with Unica? Even if she didn't want to stay at Unica's home, that would be fine too. Coolmon would at least be able to meet her mommy. But that didn't seem to be a valid option. "What?" Unica mumbled, but the only answer she got in reply was Coolmon suggesting she go back to the digital world and keep Birdie company. Unica shook her head, her cheeks growing red as she became visibly upset.
"No," she whined, looking back at Kyo and Yuu who seemed to be paying attention to the exchange, though Kyo continued speaking quietly into the cellphone. It wasn't fair that they had come all this way together and Coolmon had to say goodbye just like that. However, the only opposition to the idea of Coolmon staying behind was from Unica herself, so she knew this was something that had to be done, even if it upset her. "I-" her voice cracked and she sniffled, though no tears fell. Without warning, Unica ran up to her rabbit companion and embraced the fluffy pink rabbit--tightly at first but then gently. "I'll miss you," she whispered before letting go, her expression still pained. She told herself that they'd meet up again. She told herself that Coolmon and Birdie would be best friends, so when she returned to the digital world, she'd be able to see them both. And yet, there was a seed of doubt.
Slowly, she took a step back from the Digimon and waved goodbye, tears finally pricking her eyes. Perhaps the reason it stung so much was because the separation came so suddenly for her. Granted, if she had paid attention to any of the prior exchanges between Kyo and Coolmon, she would have realized that this was bound to happen, but she hadn't, so the fact remained: she felt blindsided, not by anyone in particular, but by life itself. Unica turned around hurriedly then, not wanting to look at Coolmon any more than she had to. It hurt too much. She went up to Kyo and Yuu, grabbed Yuu's hand the way she had done in the city, and whimpered quietly. She needed to be strong, for Coolmon. But she was breaking down... fast. Tears began to fall and she glanced over her shoulder to look at Coolmon one last time. Chances were that she would continue to be upset until she met with her mom, who just so happened to be in the area and would only be a few minutes.

Oh geez. Oh no, Unica looked upset. Please don't be. Coolmon was silently starting to beg that this could just...well, not happen. She didn't feel like she could live with that on her conscience at all. The poor rabbit felt tears starting to well up in her eyes.
No, no, you can't do this. Please don't. Please don't...
Coolmon really wanted to go up and hug Unica and tell her everything would be alright. That she would be alright. Yet...she found out she couldn't. That was alright, though. The girl came over and hugged her for her. "I-I'm really sorry..." Coolmon whispered, quietly, before backing away when the hug was released.
...She turned away and stared towards the platform, waiting for Yuu and Unica (and the Plotmon) to depart. Once they did? Well, Coolmon found herself...in a miasma of realization.
It finally dawned on her completely.
There wasn't a partner for her already.
She was already alone.
She would always be alone.
...Coolmon cried on that platform. On the ride back.
[Exit, I guess. Coolmon's not got a lot more to do in the thread.]

That had been... heartbreaking, and in more ways than one. A child's innocence was definitely no one wanted to break, and the sad goodbye between Unica and Coolmon managed to tie a knot on both Yuu's and Kyo's stomach.
Yet, it was probably something the two had to do on their own; for now, the duo had been reduced to mere spectators of that sad exchange. Solemn expressions ensued, all while Kyo tried to keep a calm demeanor while speaking through the phone. At least she had been relatively successful! The blonde girl's mom was relatively nearby, and it would be just a matter of time until she appeared.
Thus, as soon as Unica took Yuu's hand, she just decided to smile at the little girl. "Things aren't always easy but, I'm sure that's not the last we've seen of Coolmon. I'm sure you'll meet each other again, and then you can tell each other what you did in the meantime! So make sure to do a lot of fun things so you can tell her a lot of things!"
Maybe not the best way to cheer her up, but at least that was a silver lining, wasn't it? She was sure they'd see each other again.

(Thanks for playing, Bass! It was fun!) Unica was still upset, but Kyo's words helped. She had a point. Unica and Coolmon had to go their separate ways, but that just meant they could have more to talk about the next time they met up. Unica would need to do a lot of fun things so she could have a lot of stories to share the next time they saw each other. Feeling reinvigorated, Unica whiped her tears away, looked up at Yuu and Kyo, and gave a determined nod. It was clear from her red cheeks and puffy eyes that she was still sad about saying goodbye to her new friend, but things felt less final now, under the pretense that they'd meet again. With that, the trio wandered deeper into the terminal and found a place to wait.
Just as Unica was beginning to get fidgety, she spotted her mother, a young adult who looked less like a parent and more like an older sibling. Her blonde hair was pulled back into a loose ponytail, her eyebrows furrowed over her blue eyes in concern and confusion, and her clothes looking second-hand but still complimented her form. "Mommy!" Unica screamed loudly while leaping from her seat and bolting toward the woman.
Simultaneously, the woman turned and her entire expression shifted to one of elation and relief. "Unica, baby!" she exclaimed, her eyes suddenly becoming filled with tears while a smile broke across her face. Without even looking to see if she was in anyone's way, the woman knelt down and embraced the young girl as Unica gave her mother a massive hug. Once she was positive this was real and that her daughter was safe in her arms, the woman pulled away, keeping her hands resting on her daughter's shoulders. "Where were you? Are you alright? Are you okay? Where'd you go? Who were you with?" she asked frantically, scanning Unica's body up and down to make sure the young girl was alright.
This was the moment Unica had been waiting for! Now was the time to tell her mom about everything that happened. "I was in a desert, and it was hot, and I made friends! There was a kitty that was a doggy, and a nice lady, and a bunny!" Unica explained, briefly looking over her shoulder, pointing at Kyo and Yuu, then returning her attention to her mom. "Oh, and I have a partner! She's a birdie and she's kinda mean, but she's nice! She stayed because she didn't want to come, and she's purple and pink and red and pretty!"
Unica continued rambling, but her mom had long since tuned her out. Instead, her mother had stood up, grabbed Unica's right hand in her left, and had made her way over to Yuu and Kyo. She bowed her head deeply in thanks and said, "Thank you so much for helping my daughter. I don't know what she would have done had you not found her. I'm eternally grateful."
While the woman straightened her back and nodded knowingly, Unica tugged on her mom's pant leg and whined, "Mooommy! You're not listening!" The woman glanced down at the young girl and smiled weakly before looking back at the two strangers, not really expecting them to say anything but wanting to make sure they understood how thankful she was.

That had been it, hadn't it? A job well done, and their extremely strange adventure finally coming to an end brought a sense of satisfaction to both Yuu and Kyo. They smiled at the tender moment shared between mother and daughter, glad they had played a role in such a heartwarming reunion.
Yet... it was time for them to bid their goodbyes too, wasn't it? As much fun as they had with Unica, and as interesting as that small trip had been, everything had to end at some point.
And thus, both girls nodded at the older woman. "We're glad." Kyo said. "We went through a bit of trouble to find our way back, but at least everything ended well."
The duo gave one last wave at Unica, Yuu waving goodbye at her. "Buuut, we gotta go. Hope you have a good day!"
After all, this had been something that had thrown a spanner on the works, at least digitally-speaking. Both the human and the digimon had much left to do.
Time to get back. [Exit Thread]
