Spadamon looked up between the two humans as he stood in the corner of the elevator. There was a kind of apologetic expression on his face, like he regretted having barged in on them so suddenly.
The white lion digimon eyed Barry's cane for a moment, worried he might use it as a weapon if he did anything threatening, but Spadamon tried hard not to come across as that. The bigger human asked why he wanted to follow them.
"Well... I'm lost" he answered, his stomach growling a little. "I got on a wrong train and ended up here, and, I'm not really sure what to do".
As the elevator began to ascend, Sophie couldn't help but smile. "Heh, that's twice I've heard that excuse tonight" she remarked, not really mockingly, but just as a kind of observation. "So, what digimon are you?" she asked, curiously.
"I'm Spadamon" he answered, giving a bit of a rigid military posture as though suddenly being brought to attention. "Cadet of the Terminus City security force".
"Ah, a military mon eh?" Sophie asked, folding her arms. "And... you just got on a wrong Trailmon or something?" she asked curiously.
"Well... more like I didn't get off on time" Spadamon admitted. "I was checking in for a complaint when a bad digimon tried to ride to Earth, but my superiors took them off, and I remained to assure other passengers what was happening, then, the Trailmon left, and I've been stranded here because the Trailmons won't come back until tomorrow, so, I've been looking around the station for food".
Sophie listened with an intrigued expression. The poor guy. "So, bad day at work?" she asked.
"I'll say. My supervisors are gonna kill me" Spadamon said, looking a bit downcast, but still managed to smile up at her. "And I'd rather go down with a full stomach I guess".
This banter was really interesting. Sophie glanced at Barry who said that it shouldn't be too much harm since it was night time. "What I think?" she repeated. "I think it'd be a travesty to turn this little guy away. I'm happy to let you stay at my place if he needs to".
"...are you sure?" Spadamon asked, astonished. "I mean, you don't own your place do you? I heard that humans don't easily allow digimon to live with them".
"It's fine, my brother has twin digimon partners, so it'd be nothing new under our roof" Sophie said. "So you're free to come with us. We just need to help Barry find his place first. Is that okay?" she asked.
"Oh that's absolutely fine" Spadamon said, smiling. He now knew that he had done the right thing in walking out to talk to these two. They seemed really nice.

Barry felt sympathetic toward Spadamon as he told them of his situation, particularly where he felt alone and hungry in a world he didn't understand. That was what Barry had gone through for a while in the digital world, and he'd luckily avoided that same experience here in the human world by meeting Sophie. Barry pursed his lips while he considered where he would even keep a digimon. He had a feeling he'd had an easier time with his older partner digimon, but he currently had no way to disguise a digimon, so there was that.
Luckily, Sophie would find a quick solution to this predicament by allowing the rookie level to stay at her apartment. Barry was a little surprised by her generosity, though if what he'd observed of her so far was an accurate reflection of her personality it made some sense. "Well I guess that solves one problem, then. Spadamon, try to be as stealthy as you can, okay? If people see a digimon it could cause a panic, but hopefully there won't be too many people out at this time of night." Barry asked.
He had to admit he was curious about Spadamon's employment, would his higher ups really be that quick to throw him in hot water over a mistake? Then again with how large Terminus City was maybe they had to be strict. Barry shrugged internally at the self imposed question, he'd have to think about that later. There was one thing Barry was possibly able to help Spadamon out with however.
Barry withdrew some crumpled up wads of yen from his pocket. While they waited for the elevator to descend a small smile crept onto Barry's face. "Nice...looks like I have just enough here for some ramen. Enough for all three of us." he said while looking at Sophie and Spadamon. Just then, the elevator doors dinged and slid open to reveal the empty space. Barry stepped into it comfortably with the help of his cane and waited for the others to board, choosing to lean against the walls.

Spadamon nodded as Barry told him to not be seen. "Right. I take it that you two are humans that are used to digimon?"
"Well... I wouldn't say 'used to' quite yet" Sophie said, not thinking that was an apt description for her dealings with digimon. "Just I have seen enough to recognize that you guys aren't that bad. Heh. My brother's digimon disguised themselves as humans for a few months before they told me the truth".
"Oh, they used holosuits?" Spadamon asked, interested. "Heh, those two must be loaded with money". Holosuits were expensive from what Spadamon knew, especially with his meager earnings as a cadet.
They entered the elevator. Spadamon looked quite delighted with the idea of Ramen. Sophie meanwhile was a little more hesitant, since she shouldn't really be eating at this hour. But, eh, if it was a one-off, she should accept the gift. "That would be wonderful. Thanks, Barry" she said.
"Well..." Sophie said, looking at Spadamon in the dim lights of the elevator. "I guess we could pass you off as a child in a disguise maybe?" she suggested, wondering what they would say if anyone saw him. If only he had a hat to cover his wild hair. Or indeed trousers and a coat to hide his fluffy fur and armor.
Well, they'd see what they could do when they reached the ground floor, she supposed.

Barry was glad to see Spadamon's delight in the promise of food. It brought forth a feeling of happiness in him, the joy of caring for something else. He surmised to himself that helping out and caring for his partner; wherever they were, was akin to helping a sibling, or maybe a pet? Never the less Barry felt like he was doing good in helping this digimon out. Heck, even Sophie was offering to keep him for a little while, maybe destiny had something in store for those two?
Barry wasn't able to make anything out very clearly, but he recalled instances where he'd felt other peoples' surprise at meeting their digimon for the first time. He'd seen situations similar to Sophie and Spadamon, that much he was sure of. He suddenly felt his concentration snap for a moment as someone suggested disguises. Barry brought himself back to, and looked down at Spadamon. Still draped around Barry's extremely thin chest was his jacket. Barry thought to himself for a moment, gauging whether or not it would be very cold tonight.
After a moment of contemplation he began to remove the jacket. "You should wear this, it's got a hood and it's big and fluffy, should be enough to help you blend in." he said, smiling as he handed it to Spadamon. The article of clothing probably wouldn't help if someone took a close look at him, but from afar it should do the trick just fine. After a moment, the elevator doors happened to open. Barry peered out cautiously, taking note that there didn't appear to be anyone around. He'd step out from the elevator into the middle of the room, taking a closer look at the two hallways.
At a booth nearby there was someone attending, though they had dozed off. Barry pointed casually to the person sitting across from him roughly 25 feet away, then motioned for Sophie and Spadamon to walk toward him.

Spadamon looked up at Barry with surprise as he offered his jacket. "Oh, uh, are you really sure?" he asked. "I mean... you look like you need it more than I do". Spadamon saw that humans didn't seem to have any fur other than a little bit on their heads. "It seems to be cold out tonight..."
Sophie looked at the situation with sympathy. "Barry could wear my coat if he gets too cold" she offered. While Sophie wasn't particularly tall, she hoped that it was a similar size to suit Barry. "And I'll have to insist if you get too uncomfortable. It'll be fine, we can share" she said, hoping he wouldn't refuse. "I'm from Nebraska after all, I'm used to the cold".
Spadamon looked between them, then accepted Barry's jacket. The elevator doors then opened, and two empty hallways were at either side.
Sophie looked to a booth ahead, where a man seemed to be sleeping. Barry seemed to point him out to her, and they walked toward him.
"Oh, right, are we asking him where we can find some food?" she asked, not really understand if they were going to talk to him or walk past.

His face becoming somewhat alarmed, Barry quickly made a motion with a finger over his lips to indicate silence. He grew a tad embarrassed at himself for not really indicating more clearly that he wanted to sneak past the man. His cheeks flushed a little as he walked back toward them, his hands in his pockets. His cane was wrapped around him, hanging onto his back. "I... vaguely remember a vending machine nearby, but I just want to get past him without making noise. No reason to bring attention to ourselves you know?" Barry whispered, scratching the back of his head nervously.
He turned around to see if the guy was still asleep, and luckily he hadn't appeared to have moved at all. Barry relaxed a little bit, his posture becoming a little bit slouched as he moved past the counter toward the stairs. He looked up and didn't see anyone, but noticed the chill from outside. The weather seemed to be around 40 degrees outside with small droplets of rain barely visible. Barry shivered for a moment before fortifying himself to walk outside.
He'd turn to wait until Sophie and Spadamon had joined him near the stairs leading outside. So she was from Nebraska? It was intriguing to him that the two of them had both lived in the United States previously. "It's cool that you're from the U.S too, I actually used to live in..... New York?" he said questioningly, as if he didn't quite recall where. He began to feel the tinge of concern creep back into his train of thought. How much of his memory had he forgotten, and was he even able to get any of it back? Barry tried hard not to show this on his face, instead opting to begin walking up the stairs.
Once at the top, he'd wait for the two of them to join him, the cold air beginning to whip around him furiously. "So what made you move out here?" Barry said as he watched them ascend.

"Oh, right" Sophie whispered, a little embarrassed that she hadn't correctly interpreted Barry's intentions. She nodded, realizing that they were going to try and sneak past.
"I'll walk here" Spadamon added, standing on the far side of Sophie and Barry, so they would obscure his view from the booth attendant if he did wake up. Sophie gave a smile to show she approved of this plan.
Then they attempted their sneaking. Sophie was glad she was wearing her running trainers tonight. They were much quieter than her business shoes, which she would often wear during the day. Those made loud 'clopping' sound on any surface that wasn't carpet.
As they walked out of the station, Sophie listened with interest to hear that Barry came from New York. "Ahh, okay" she said, smiling. "I thought you were from around that area".
Spadamon meanwhile had no idea what Nebraska or New York was, but he kept his nose out of their conversation. The faster they could get shelter from the cool night, the better.
"I moved here with my family" Sophie continued. "My dad's an engineer and he was offered a position with the company's division in Tokyo, so he accepted and we moved to Shibuya a couple of years ago. He's half Japanese so that was a factor of him accepting".
Spadamon meanwhile took in these terms curiously. He would ask about them later at a better opportunity.
Finally, they reached the open street. Spadamon didn't shiver, but Sophie felt the cool air on her face a little.
"Well then. There's a ramen bar down the road here" she said, pointing in one direction. "I'm not really sure if it's open this late though, I never really noticed the closing hours".
Surely it would be. Tokyo was a city that was alive both day and night, and ramen bars were often open 24 hours, at least some of them were.

Barry kept a curious look on his face while he listened to Sophie's explanation. So her family had moved to Japan because of her father's job eh? He'd had a friend or two move for similar reasons in the past, or so he felt while he was walking alongside her. He felt a sense of familiarity with Sophie in that the two of them had moved to Japan for similar reasons, but were exploring more of themselves in the process.
Or at least, Barry had, he wasn't really sure what the past him had done in the years he'd lived in Japan. He was able to recall his first few years in the asian continent with a slight haze, but anything past the age of 14 was a blank. His aunt still came to mind very strongly, luckily he hadn't managed to forget about her otherwise he knew he'd have been in an even worse situation. That and Sam would never let him live that down, he was sure of it. Just then Sophie mentioned a ramen bar, though she seemed unsure of it's hours.
Barry shrugged in response. "Ah, I wouldn't worry about it, I'm sure there are at least one or two open even at this time of night. I can at least remember the work culture still being really strong and important in Shibuya." he said with a relaxed look on his face, despite the chill around him. Adjusting to seeing people come home late at night around midnight always had been odd to Barry. He could appreciate a hard day's work, but even he had to admit that he felt the emphasis on one's job being as important as it was in Japan seemed a tad draining to him.
Barry felt a shiver run up his back as the cold of the outdoor night began to get to him just a little. He tried to hide this shiver as best as possible by looking as though he were readjusting his cane. Thinking to draw attention to his new acquaintance, Barry turned to look at Spadamon. "So Spadamon, do you have a tamer? I've seen partners and their tamers get split up before, it used to happen a lot when I first started out, at least I think.." he said with a light expression on his face. While waiting for Spadamon's reply, Barry looked around at the streets that began to surround them, the lights of the city feeling a touch alienating with his long sleep in the Digital World still fresh in his mind.

Sophie noted that in this conversation, Barry seemed to be remembering a few things. For one, she noted that he remembered he was from New York, which filled her with a little excitement as she realized that he might just be getting some memories back. But she didn't draw attention to that, realizing the first priority would be to helping Barry get home.
"Yeah, that's right for sure" Sophie agreed, chuckling. "When I picture Tokyo at night I picture flashing neon lights and loads of activity, and since moving here I guess that's turned out to be true". Even if the station was a little deserted, about one in every five restaurants in the area seemed to be open at this time of night.
Spadamon saw that Barry shivered a little and felt a little bad, realizing that he was wearing his jacket, even if his thick fur managed to keep him warm in this weather. But since this was a kind gesture of Barry mainly in order to disguise him and prevent trouble for Barry and Sophie, he didn't feel right in offering it back.
"Maybe when we start moving we can warm up?" he suggested instead. He then looked up as Barry asked if he had a tamer.
"Me? Oh, er, I don't seem to have a partner" he said, stumbling over his words. "I mean, at least I think? I heard some partnerships happen randomly, but, as far as I know, I haven't really met a human I'd call 'partner' yet".
As they walked through the streets, Spadamon followed his nose, trying to sniff out the smell of cooked food over the stale vehicle fumes that seemed to be quite strong in most other places. He smelled one down the street they were walking on. "Hey, I think I'm on to something" he said, walking toward it briskly. "It smells fresh so if it's a restaurant, it's gotta be still open".
"Well then, I gather Spadamon's found an open restaurant" Sophie remarked to Barry, before following him.

The human nodded in understanding as Spadamon gave him his response. Being lost in the human world without anyone to rely on was probably like any humans' first time in the digital world, he imagined. Heck he had woken up from his long sleep with an ally and still felt uncomfortable and out of place. For Spadamon he was hoping that the rookie level had managed to find a little bit of comfort in their company if nothing else.
Barry's eyes lit up for a moment as his pace dropped a little bit behind Sophie as they walked. He'd suddenly had the idea to ask Spadamon if they had any digimon reporting their tamer as missing. If anything he figured it could give him a lead as to where his partner might be, if they were still around. He decided to ask him once they'd found a seat out of the chilling rain, no need to get anyone sick after all.
Barry's expression lightened upon hearing that Spadamon had detected a restaurant nearby. He quickened his pace slightly to keep up, feeling his body protest slightly with a few aches here and there. "Well let's hope they've got something tasty, I haven't had real world food in so long!" he mused excitedly. It had truly been too long since he'd had anything he really considered delicious. He didn't think of his standards being very high, but digimon tended to be simple cookers unless one went to an establishment in the cities or villages. Although Gatomon wasn't a horrible cook, she tended to be very basic with grilled fish and wild mushrooms.
Barry rounded the corner with Spadamon and Sophie, and they would've noticed an open ramen shop neatly tucked into the side of a street. There appeared to be a few people inside, as well as a lone businessman off to the side who seemed deep into his cell phone. "Well, this looks like as good a place as any. Shall we?" Barry questioned the two, moving forward.
OOC: Would you prefer to NPC the shop keepers or should I? Either way works.

Near the entrance to the platform, another shop was also visible. On the outside it was a black building with closed curtains and red awnings. It had a sign on the top stating "Jiro's Pawns" On the first glance this shop looked normal or albeit shady, for a person aware of the Digital World other subtle things was noticeable: On the awning near the front door was written in digi code "Digital Monster", a text usually found on holy rings. A keen eye will reveal that disguised Digimon, some from the very same train that had just arrived enters the back door.
In the office of the shop a windharp rang, for a certain Digimon disguised as a human that meant a trainmon from the digital world had just arrived.
OOC: If you ignore the shop, consider this my introduction post.

For the moment, Spadamon was glad that he had encountered two rather nice humans that had helped him out considerably. When he had arrived here, he had been worried that the humans would be all horrible and shun him and try to delete him, but he had received nothing but kindness from Sophie and Barry.
He grinned as Barry hoped out loud that the restaurant would have tasty things. "Oh yeah, I can smell loads of awesome things from here" he said, picking up the pace a little. "Lot of savoury flavours so it's probably ramen too".
They rounded the corner and there they saw it. A ramen restaurant with the lights on, a person visible at the counter. Sophie and Spadamon were so delighted at the sight that they didn't notice the businessman on his phone at first. But of course once their initial delight had worn off, Sophie glanced at him, hoping he hadn't noticed Spadamon yet. But it seemed he hadn't, so they proceeded into the ramen restaurant.
However, Spadamon noticed something in the shop next door. Still open at this late hour, he recognized the digicode on the shop. Spadamon's yellow eyes lingered on it for a moment, but, he supposed the best thing for now would be to simply eat.
Sophie greeted the counter attendant politely in Japanese, glad to be out of the cold of the night. "Hello. We'd like to order please. Are you still cooking?" she asked, eagerly. She looked at Barry, wondering what they should get. Something delicious but expensive? Or something cheap and reasonable?
Spadamon meanwhile took a seat in a berth that hid himself from view from most of the rest of the restaurant, realizing that it probably wouldn't be a good idea if he stood at the counter with the others.
