Why Is It Always The Tundra (Mitsuko)

As Mitsuko's hands set on the symbol, the pure serenity of her touch sent the sigil spinning. This seemed to have two effects. The first was that the KorIkakummon statue that was aggressively guarding this dead end was forced to settle down. Its eyes went a dull grey, its arms lowered to its sides, and its head sagged down. Clearly, this wouldn't be hurting anybody anymore. The second was that the icy stone beneath Mitsuko's feet was beginning to move as well. Each turn of the sigil was like the crank of a winch, slowly drawing back what was increasingly obvious as a trap door. The opening in the stone lead to a staircase, its surface bare despite the bitter cold of the cave around her. At least it meant that there wouldn't be any falling down the stairs today.
Upon seeing that that they were free, the bros began their hesitant approach. Isaac, being a freaking dragon, had made it over first. "Nice thinking there," he said, flashing a fang-filled grin. "How'd you pull that one off?"
Elliot, huffing and puffing from the exertion of keeping up with everyone else, finally made his way to the group too. "You were awesome!" he said, looking Mitsuko up and down to make sure that she didn't get hurt while messing with ancient sigils. "And I'm really glad you're okay, too. That was really scary for a bit."
Of course, now there was nowhere to go but down. Isaac slithered down the stairs first, hoping that his luminescent eyespots could light the way. Elliot looked down sadly at his walking stick, but sighed and prepared to brave his most hated enemy. Why did it always have to be stairs?
Isaac was a predator, naturally attuned to brave the dark, but even he was having one hell of a time peering through this hallway. There were far too many twists and turns for him to see more than a few feet in front of him at any given moment. At one point, his snakelike body was contorted around four bends at once. "Are you sure this is the right way?" he finally asked. "All I see is some big, circular room."
Sure enough, Isaac was standing in what looked to be a large dome. It was completely featureless, the ice on every part of the floor and wall shaved to a uniform point. However, there was a massive crystal of ice that would get Mitsuko's Digivice going wild the second she set foot in the room.
It couldn't have been that easy, could it have?

As soon as Mitsuko felt the symbol move her eyes snapped open in shock. Quickly they darted towards the psycho statue, only to notice it went into a dormant state. She let out a sigh of relief as she put her gloves back on, and stood up. Before she knew it, Isaac was upon her congratulating her. "Oh... well... you know..." She stammered softly "Logic... and er... a cool head." She smiled shyly as Elliot came towards her, Angemon trailing behind the younger boy. "Oh... Thank you!" Mitsuko said warmly to Elliot, while she brushed her hair away from her face.
"She gets it from me." Angemon said with a teasing smile. The silverette couldn't help but roll her eyes at that one. It was scary, but Mitsuko didn't want to admit that to Elliot, and her partner. As Isaac descended down the stairs, she could see the defeat in Elliot's eyes.
"Er, Angemon?" She said softly, looking at her partner. "Already on it." He said, as he bent down towards Elliot. "Here, let me help." Before the boy could protest, he was gently scooped up by Angemon; whom wrapped his wings around them both like a soft, feathery shell. After Angemon disappeared down the stairs Mitsuko followed the ragtag group. The darkness soon became too much for the young musician. She dug blindly in her bag, before her hands gripped around a familiar rectangular shape. She pulled out her cell phone and activated the flashlight feature, illuminating the area in a bright light.
"Yeah, this has to be the way." Mitsuko said as she entered the circular room. She could hear her voice echo off of the walls. Angemon unfurled his wings and gently set Elliot back down, ruffling his hair playfully. As she took a step towards the massive crystal, her digivice began to react. She turned off her flashlight, and slipped her phone back into her bag and pulled out her digivice. "Yep. This is the right room." Mitsuko said, as she took a gloved hand, and placed it gently upon the crystalline orb.

Elliot let out a small squeak of surprise as he was suddenly picked up from behind, freezing up like some sort of fainting goat. It was only when he realized who was grabbing him that he was finally able to breathe again, letting out a sigh of relief as he was taken down the stairs. Did Mitsuko seriously arrange that for him? "T-thank you, Mitsuko," he stammered, his voice warm and gentle. The fact that anyone would be so thoughtful for him was really touching. Heck, in general, Mitsuko had been really kind and sweet for him. He needed to properly thank her once some of his embarrassment about their . . . closer contacted faded.
Hell, even Isaac was grateful. His brother was important to him, so seeing him be treated so well meant that he had made the right choice of allies today. It also showed that Patamon was taking this more seriously than Isaac had previously anticipated. He smiled softly, not letting anyone else see due to his current position at the head of the group.
He wouldn't be the head of the group for long, though. Mitsuko would have to take the lead in order to approach the crystal. Isaac would enter, but there was no chance he was getting too close to the room's center. It was giving him a horrible sense of foreboding, almost as if he wasn't supposed to be here. He nodded as Elliot was dropped off, making sure to keep a tail close to the boy in case he'd need to snatch him out of harm's way. That just left Mitsuko and Angemon to approach the crystal. It was huge, almost like a monolith, with a soft glow emanating from it.
With Mitsuko's touch, the soft glow condensed into a brightly-shining core. It pulsed once, almost like a heart.
Ba-dum.
The core shifted form into the shape of the Digimental of Serenity. It rotated within its crystalline prison, a red horn sticking up from its green and brown surface. The pattern along its front resembled white wings wrapped around it, and it crackled with energy. It was so close, Mitsuko could almost reach out and touch it.
Ba-dum.
The egg collapsed back into the core, and then the light faded into a reflection of Mitsuko herself. However, she didn't look quite like she was supposed to. Excitement burned almost too brightly in her eyes, and they seemed to be glowing. Her pupils darted around, curious, as if trying to see who all of her knew arrivals were. The smile on her face was almost painfully wide and fake, and she seemed to be trembling with fear. Her hair was a mess, almost every strand subtly out of place. Her skin was a little too pale, highlighting the dark bags under her eyes. After scanning the room she looked right at Mitsuko, almost staring through her.
Ba-dum.
The silhouette faded, giving way to a silhouette of Angemon. He was almost entirely illuminated by the bright glow coming from the crystal, looking more like a radiant silhouette than a Digimon. Slowly he seemed to float closer, so subtly that it wouldn't even be clean until he started physically pressing against the walls of the crystal.
Ba-dum.
KRAK!
The ice crystal exploded, and immediately the room filled with blue. What was once a massive circular room was now a very small one, as every part of it not close to the crystal's proximity became frozen solid. Elliot and Isaac were left completely embedded in ice, frozen in time. Elliot had been leaping forward, as if trying to scramble to Mitsuko's side once he noticed the blue flash. Isaac had been left in mid roar, green fire smoldering in the back of his throat but completely unable to escape. Mitsuko would be alone, with nobody but her and Angemon.
And also her and Angemon. The glowing reflection of the angel floated towards the ground, touching its tiptoes first before gradually landing on its heels. Slowly the glow started to fade away, each second revealing another detail that wasn't quite right. Its visor was red, with the cross on it tilted into an X. The blue cloth wrapped around its arms and waist was now a somewhat jade green. The holy rod in his hand looked more like a spear, water dripping from it in a fashion uncomfortable close to fresh blood. Its skin was pale and clammy, just as badly as the skin on Mitsuko's reflection earlier. Black hair fell around its shoulders rather than Angemon's usual orange. Most notable of all, however, were its wings. Each of the three pairs had changed from feathery and white to leathery bat's wings, taking on a sickly purple color. Whatever this thing was, it wasn't Angemon.
Mitsuko's reflection seemed to almost float out from behind the false Angemon. Whatever it was, it was clearly too tangible to be a mere mirror. In a grand motion it swept both arms towards the frozen brothers, eyes locked on Mitsuko the entire time.
"You've already failed them. Turn back before you fail yourself."

"Thank you Mitsuko?!" Angemon exclaimed in mock hurt. "I'm the one who carried your scrawny butt!" He made sure to flash Elliot a playful grin, so that the younger man would understand he really wasn't upset. The angel turned his attention towards his partner, when she finally touched the crystalline orb.
Ba-dum.
Mitsuko gasped, as she felt the sphere pulse beneath her hand. "What the..." Her voice trailed off as she leaned closer towards the orb. She could make out a brief form, a digimental if she recalled correctly. However, her hand could not pass through the solid barrier of the icy orb.
Ba-dum.
As suddenly as the Digimental appeared, it vanished into a strange likeness of herself. Disheveled, crazy looking, something just plain... creepy. It was as if it was a doppelganger of her true self. Mitsuko brought her free hand to her mouth, stifling a gasp. She felt Angemon shift behind her, taking a few tentative steps towards her.
Ba-dum.
This time, she her hand was unable to stop the gasp that escaped her lips. It was a twisted version of her partner. An angel gone rogue, a fallen angel. Where Angemon seemed majestic, holy, and full of light, this one radiated an aura of darkness, fear, and just pure evil. Mitsuko dropped her hand from the orb as she took a step back. This wasn't good. This shouldn't be happening! She felt her body bump into her partner.
Ba-dum.
KRAK!
Angemon reacted instinctively, he wrapped his wings around Mitsuko, spinning his back into the blast. Even through her protective feathery barrier, the silverette could see blue surrounding them. Slowly it faded, when the danger seemed to have passed Angemon lowered his wings. Mitsuko could see past him, where the twisted versions of herself and her partner stood. She took in their appearances. Dark. Crazy. Twisted. They were unnatural versions of themselves. She couldn't tear her eyes away from her own self. Something about her twisted version's eyes held her attention.
Then her voice, it was shrill. Where Mitsuko's was soft, and bell-like... this was cold and harsh, like a winter wind. She failed them? The digimentals? Was she truly not the one chosen of Harmony? Questions formed in her mind quicker than she could answer them. However, she noted the motion, and ice flooded her veins.
Elliot. Frozen in a mad dash to help protect Mitsuko and Angemon. "No..." She gasped out softly, her hands covering her mouth. Isaac. Iced over in mid attack, not even dragon fire could break him out. "NO!" Her voice shot through several octaves, as her knees gave out causing her to collapse to the ground. Her body shook not from the cold weather, but the pure fear that took over. Tears streaked down her face. Elliot. Isaac. They were in true danger, because of her!
Angemon however took this moment to position himself between his own tamer, and the dark versions of themselves. He fanned his wings out and brought up his Angel Rod in a defensive position. "Suki-chan, do not despair." His voice was soft. "We haven't failed yet. If you give in to the darkness, we will fail."
Mitsuko sniffled, rubbing her face with her arm. He's right. We haven't failed yet. We can't give up. With a sharp cry of anger, Mitsuko slammed a gloved fist into the ground. Her breathing became ragged from rage, than fear due to the pain throbbing in her hand. She brought her face up to meet the twisted versions of themselves. "I haven't failed them. Not yet." Mitsuko stood up, throwing a wave of silvery hair over her shoulder. "The only way I fail them, is if I give up!" Mitsuko felt her digivice react rapidly, she pulled it out, and held it close to her chest. "While you may wear our faces, you are not us... You know nothing about us! You don't know the struggles we have faced before. We've passed every challenge so far, and even spots where we could have died." Mitsuko's eyes hardened from their soft deep blue, to a determined stormy blue. "But, we're still here. Still together. And we'll never give up!"
Angemon gave Mitsuko a smirk over his shoulder, before turning his attention back to their doppelgangers. "So in other words, you gruesome two-some, bring it on!"

Mitsuko's reflection giggled as Mitsuko sank to her knees. Between the warmth in her laugh and the way she covered her mouth, it would've looked adorable in any other circumstance. The way Misuko shook and the way those tears were rolling down her face was, for lack of a better word, ecstasy. So much emotion. So much passion. There was so much for Mitsuko's reflection to take in. She walked over to one of the iced over walls, gently stroking the area of icy wall where Isaac's flank was. As she did so, she looked over at the sobbing Mitsuko. "Sssssh. It's okay," she said, her voice almost tauntingly soft. "At least they aren't in any pain. For much longer, at least. Poor things."
As Angemon raised his rod in a defensive stance, ShadowAngemon copied his motion exactly. The tip of his spear rested just close enough to Angemon's staff, positioned perfectly to try and block if Angemon would strike first. Unlike Angemon, who took all of Patamon's bluster and confidence and put it in a more confident package, ShadowAngemon was almost disconcertingly silent. Mitsuko's reflection was clearly the mouthpiece of the two.
She walked over to ShadowAngemon's side, tilting her head in interest as Mitsuko started to rally and fortify. That was a new emotion from the girl, from what her reflection had seen. Not an overwhelming wave of despair, but instead a new burst of hope. It was a change of pace, and yet exquisite in its own right. The look in Mitsuko's eye sent shivers down the spine of her reflection, and the mirror image's smile only widened in response.
That said, there was still so much left to test. So much left to play around with. Mitsuko's reflection began walking the perimeter of the frozen room, eyes locked on Mitsuko the entire time. "Oh, shoot. And here I thought this would be easy," she said, pouting mockingly. "Although . . . do you really think I don't know your challenges? Your struggles? The times you've almost died? Even the times when you've lost?" Slowly Mitsuko's reflection walked towards Mitsuko. If Angemon didn't bar her passage, she would lay a clammy hand on Mitsuko's shoulder. If not, she would simply say her piece from a distance.
"This was all a big misunderstanding, I believe. I should've known better," she said, voice soothing. With a snap of her fingers, a ring of fire surrounded the previously frozen over room. "Fire strikes far more of a chord with you than ice, does it not?"
Yes. This bitch just went there.

Mitsuko could almost feel the sickly sweet tone of her own voice coating her body. A shudder passed through the silverette as she never took her eyes off of her doppelganger. Her eyes narrowed dangerously as she saw a pale hand caress the area above Isaac's side. Not in pain, for much longer... oh god. Mitsuko felt as if she had been punched in the gut, the air expelled from her lungs. It was hard to breathe, but she took a few rattling breaths through her clenched teeth.
Angemon however never let his gaze fall from the ShadowAngemon. "Not one for words eh? What, Gatomon got your tongue?" A small quirk of his lips was the only other emotion that marred his face. He wasn't going to let his guard down. This was borderline dangerous, Mitsuko was exposed to some she-devil, and he had his own hell creature right in front of him.
Mitsuko's dark alter ego continued to taunt them, and strode towards the silverette. Angemon tensed as if to block her path but the musician's voice rang out. "No, this is my fight. Keep that... creature occupied. I've got her... er... me." Mitsuko swung around, dodging her dark double's touch. Her eyes never left the duplicate so much like her own. A misunderstanding? Fire shimmered around her, and her body seized up for a brief moment. Before Mitsuko could even register anything else her french heritage sprang into action, as a sharp snap echoed upon the chilly air.
She just slapped herself, in any other way it would have been comical. However, Mitsuko was truly pissed off right now. A zealous rage coursed through her veins. "You... you despicable cow!" Mitsuko took a step backwards away from her dark form, her hand throbbing terribly. "How dare you..." Fresh tears streamed down her face. This time they weren't born from fear or worry, they were born from pure rage. "You know nothing. She sacrificed herself so that I may live... She gave me a second chance because she believed I was meant to do something far greater. I am living her dream. Don't you dare use her sacrifice against me. It shall not work!" Mitsuko screamed, her face was red, sparks flared beneath her eyes.
Angemon was frozen, his attention was focused on his shadow form, but he also heard what his partner was saying. It was a low blow, one that had taken years for Mitsuko to get over. Angemon shook in holy anger as he listened to his tamer.
"I have learned to balance my life, I learned to break harmony to find my path. I learned to balance logic and emotions. But most of all..." Mitsuko wiped her tears away as she brought her gaze up to match her own "Out of everything I have learned, harmony is about faith in yourself. Knowing what is right, and doing it no matter how hard it is. My inner harmony tells me no matter how dark you may be, I shall burn brighter. I have to. Even if it means I sacrifice my own life, we will beat you. I will protect the ones I love!"

ShadowAngemon was a Digimon of few words. Whereas Angemon was always quipping and joking along with his opponent, ShadowAngemon hadn't said a word since arriving. With Angemon's latest callout, however, that silence had to break. The fallen angel looked over at his doppelganger, a small smile cracking along its face. "You wish she had yours," the angel said. He really wasn't much above it all, was he?
At Mitsuko's reflection being slapped, she disappeared into a fine mist. Mitsuko may have said that using such despicable means wouldn't work against her, but it was written on her furious red face. Her harmony had been thrown off by this underhanded tactic, and for this reason Mitsuko's reflection was all smiles as she reformed back into physical form. "It certainly got your attention," she said, interest flashing in her eyes. From despair to triumph to wrath, Mitsuko had hopped to three ends of the emotional spectrum in one conversation. It was exquisite!
That said, it seemed the two of them had slightly different definitions of harmony. Mitsuko's reflection was thinking in rather rigid terms. She was picturing a pure dearth of emotion, where nothing could be felt strongly enough to interfere with such tranquility. Mitsuko's, on the other hand, seemed more like ordered chaos. Emotions would flare up when needed, but would never consume her. She'd keep a cool head, but wouldn't let it harden her heart. She would stay true to herself, even as an adversary tried to pry at each and every weak spot she had. It was a riskier path to harmony, and yet at the same time a more fulfilling one.
The only question was whether Mitsuko would rise to the occasion, or if her method of harmony would only lead to her burning herself out. "Let's prove if that's right, mmm?" Mitsuko's reflection asked, aimlessly pointing a finger at Angemon. "Come, Mitsuko. Let's walk and talk."
That was ShadowAngemon's cue to snap into action. Dark lightning crackled around his fist as he thrust it in Angemon's direction. "Fate's Last Reward," he said as multiple tendrils of dark lightning lashed out towards Angemon.
As they fought, Mitsuko's reflection reclined against the icy wall. She was quite clearly floating rather than sitting, but she nonetheless closed her eyes and let out a sigh of ease. "Sacrifice your life for the people you love, you say?" she asked, not even looking at Mitsuko as she talked. "Big words, for people you just met today. Are you just playing the martyr to impress me? Because trust me, Mitsuko. I don't want to be impressed. I want the truth."
Combat Log: ShadowAngemon uses Fate's Last Reward. (ShadowAngemon charges up a dark parody of Hand of Fate, but upon release, the singular blast of darkness breaks apart into multiple beams, able to hit a multiple enemies and cover a wide area.)

"You call that a retort? Come on, if you were really me you could do better than that!" Angemon quipped as he squared off against his opponent. "Then again, it looks like I was born with the looks, brains, and witty sense of humor... what exactly did you get?"
Mitsuko watched in slight amazement as the projection seemed to reform itself. Yes, it did get her attention. But she wasn't going to admit it. Mitsuko's mouth pressed into a firm line as she watched her reflection cross in front of her. At Dark Mitsuko's cue ShadowAngemon attacked rapidly!
"NO!" Mitsuko screamed as she watched her partner try to turn to his side to limit the effect of the attack. Angemon yelled in pain as he was hurtled backwards a few feet. Mitsuko made to go towards her partner, when he yelled out to her.
"No, this is my fight. Remember? Deal with your demons, and I'll deal with mine." Angemon called back as he clutched his side. "Besides, this one hits like a Rookie." Angemon gripped the staff with both hands, as it started to glow in a golden light, and reformed into a set of bladed sais.
"Angel's Blessing!" Angemon called out, as the weapons were suddenly doused in a golden light. "What a cheap shot. And speaking of cheap, where did you get that outfit, 1-800-skank?" Angemon then lunged in towards ShadowAngemon for a bit of melee combat. He had a plan, but for it to work, he needed to be careful.
"Yeah, okay." Mitsuko said to herself softly. "You want to talk, fine by me." Mitsuko mirrored her reflection's stance, leaning against the crystalline wall. Her heart hammered in her chest, what could she do that would beat this thing? She physically attacked it, and it literally went into nothingness and came back! Mitsuko rubbed her cheek absentmindedly.
"You want the truth?" Mitsuko gave a spiteful laugh. "If you really were me you would know it already. But let me spell it out for you, since you seem a bit slow." Mitsuko tore her eyes away from her partner and looked at herself dead in the eyes. "I am not playing the martyr. Should my life end to ensure the safety and freedom of others, then it was worth it. There is no better nobility and honor than to die for something you believe in. Then again, you and your partner don't know much about those qualities, now do you?"

ShadowAngemon blinked at Angemon's words, as if the other Digimon's quip wasn't quite registering. "I am you," it simply stated, looking far less into this squaring off than its more excitable counterpart. "You're insulting you, too, when you insult me. Why are you doing this?" The poor thing wasn't even trying to taunt Angemon at this point. It simply looked baffled by the whole nature of this standoff. Was a little bit of introspection in silence too hard to ask?
Of course, attacking Angemon didn't count as breaking the silence. That was totally okay. He was the dark reflection, after all, not the one who had to pretend to be above it all. There was surely something in the handbook for evil mirrors that covered this subject, right? Nevertheless, it seemed that his questionably fair attack scored first blood. Angemon was knocked to the side, ShadowAngemon slowly walking towards his fallen (yet at the same time, not Fallen) copy. "Actually, we are both angels," he pointed out, continuing to not get the point of witty banter. "And our tamer is a human. But I understand if this may be hard to grasp."
At Angemon's weapons shifting to sais, ShadowAngemon followed suit. The rod in its hand shifted to that of a samurai sword, the perfect weapon to serve as an antithesis to a pair of sais. For now it held the sword close, focused more on parrying Angemon's strikes than actually going into combat on its own. As he did so he gradually stepped back, slowly losing ground to Angemon's superior assaults. Why didn't he think to enhance his weapons, huh?
Oh, wait, he totally could! "Gift of the Fallen!" he called, a similar dark aura surrounding his sword. He tried to duck around Angemon's latest sai strike, making up for his lost ground by slicing at Angemon's shoulder. Would he succeed, or only succeed in leaving himself open?
Whereas Angemon's barbs seemed more like banter than anything, Mitsuko's words were as cold as ice. It seemed that, above all else, she was truly committed to dying for the sake of those important to her. Mitsuko's reflection raised an eyebrow to that, but said nothing. "To the contrary," she said, voice quite serene as she turned away from Mitsuko. "I have always been prepared for such. In fact, it's why I'm here. The real question is, will this be why you have come here as well? Or when push comes to shove will you bend, and bend, and bend further still, until you find yourself unable to commit?"
Combat Log: ShadowAngemon parries at Angemon, constantly falling back despite his best efforts. Trying to change his luck, ShadowAngemon mirrors Angemon's buff and tries for a strike.

Angemon couldn't help the small smirk on his face. If his eyes wasn't shielded, he would have rolled them. "You know, you really don't understand the true brilliance of witty banter while battling." Angemon scoffed as he listened to his counter part continuing to prattle on witlessly. "Its an expression! Geeze, no need to be so literal all of the time!" The sounds of metal striking metal continued to fill the air around the battling angels. Sparks of light and darkness collided as the Gift of the Fallen and the Angel's blessing came into constant contact.
Angemon was prepared for his dark counterpart's attack. It was the most obvious move, and yet ShadowAngemon played right into it. This guy wasn't just literal, he was obvious too! Angemon feinted at the last moment, bringing both sais up in time to catch the samurai sword in its pronged hooks. With a fluid movement, he spun around causing the sword be be disarmed. It flew through the air, and landed into the ground, like the proverbial sword in the stone.
Angemon took advantage of the brief surprised moment that crossed ShadowAngemon's features. He rushed the dark digimon, tackling him to the ground. Angemon sat upon his dark counterpart, whipped his sais around in his hands, before stabbing them into the ground. Right around ShadowAngemon's wrists, successfully pinning the dark digimon down with two weapons radiating holy energy. "Alright, enough of you..." Angemon growled, as his attention snapped back towards his tamer. "Suki-chan..."
Mitsuko's eyebrows shot upwards upon hearing her doppelgangers response. "I've come here because I was called. Harmony called out to me, it deemed me worthy of its trials. I don't know if I passed the trials perfectly, but I did what I thought was best. I broke perfect harmony to find my own path. I learned to quell my emotions, and push forward, balancing emotions with reactions. But most importantly..." Mitsuko crossed her arms defensively. "I've learned that you must bend to a point, sacrificing your own happiness for that of others. However, you must also know when you've done as much as you can. I will not break my promises, my honor will not be tainted!" Mitsuko lowered her gaze from her own. She stared at the floor for a moment, before closing her eyes. "If it is my life that you request for my friends to be free, so be it. If I'm not the true bearer of Harmony, so be it. But whatever it is that you require, get it over with... because I will not stand here and waste precious time anymore!" Mitsuko's voice was gentle and sincere. "Whatever you demand, it is yours. But in turn you must respect the balance of harmony. So in return, all I ask is the safety of my friends and partner."

Judging by the perpetual blank look on ShadowAngemon's face, he wasn't exactly good with expressions. "Why not? We're literally fighting right now," it said, head tilted curiously.
Then again, literally fighting would involve both parties putting forth equal effort. ShadowAngemon had been soundly disarmed by Angemon's feinting sweep, his sword being sent flying. He hit the ground with a thud hefty enough to crack the icy ground beneath Angemon's feet. Two sais to the wrists left his wrists aching badly from the holy energy, and he could do little to struggle against them without introducing his hands to a very bad time. For the time being, ShadowAngemon was stuck. "Well," he said, facial expression looking even more blank than usual as he looked up towards the ceiling. "I tried."
Did he try everything, though? Once Angemon's attention was back on Mitsuko, he tried one last trick: bringing his knee up viciously, trying to slam it into Angemon's groin. Now that just wasn't cool.
Mitsuko's understanding of harmony was an interesting one. It wasn't a subject of lacking, but instead of balanced fulfillment. The trials here had all seemed to reward cold precision and the ability to keep one's emotions in check, but that didn't mean they needed to be completely eschewed. Perhaps she understood harmony even better than the Digimental's guardian did. For a brief second, the reflection's face shifted to a proud grin. "I think we've both said all that we need to say," she observed, the grin widening until it once more took on a sinister quality. "In the end, let's see which of us was right, shall we?" The fire seemed to reflect in the eyes of Mitsuko's reflection as it suddenly flared up around the room's inner circle. Now it was so close that both Angemon and ShadowAngemon were locked away from the duo.
The flames slowly yet inevitably advanced, first washing over Mitsuko's reflection. It disappeared into an icy, blue mist, one last giggle escaping its lips before it had completely dispersed. Then the flames extended towards Mitsuko, the sanctum's cold giving way to an uncomfortable heat as they licked closer and closer. Soon they would be close enough to almost touch her, dancing around her yet never making proper contact. The silhouettes of Angemon, Elliot, and Isaac would be faintly visible through the inferno. Would they be okay? Would this trial's keeper have kept her promise?
Before any of these questions could be answered, the world turned white.
When Mitsuko's vision returned to her, she would see that the room was completely pristine. There was no ash indicating the wall of fire that had seemed about to consume her, and not even any remnant of the wall of ice that held Isaac and Elliot. It would be as if nothing had even happened. However, where Mitsuko's reflection once stood, now there was a softly glowing Digimental. It floated before Mitsuko as if just waiting for her to claim it.
Hopefully she could enjoy the pristine view while it lasted, because she would suddenly feel something tiny and fast cling onto her. "Thank goodness you're okay," Elliot said, voice trembling slightly with worry. It seemed that he had braved a ton of ice with his bad leg just to give his new friend a hug. Hopefully, with said bad leg, that wouldn't end up being a mistake.
Combat Log: ShadowAngemon, out of options, goes for the low blow. Not that it matters. Bitch be dead.

Pain rocketed through Angemon, as a rough gasp echoed in his throat. Talk about a low blow, this time however, Angemon was hit so hard it reverted him back into a rookie! "No.. fair." He gasped as his vision blurred in and out. Mitsuko slowly opened her deep blue eyes. " Yes, I think we have." She brushed a strand of silvery hair away from her face. It was strange, knowing that the end of her life was so close... yet an overwhelming calm seemed to have seized her. "As you wish." Mitsuko gave herself a soft smile, as the flames were raging around them. A song seemed to play at the edges of her mind, one from a memory so long ago. Mitsuko's hand itched to play the song, but she closed her eyes as the sweet melody became clearer in her head. It was one of the last songs she heard her mother play. Mitsuko remembered having her head in her mother's lap, a soft fevered blush upon her cheeks. The scent of vanilla and cherry blossoms surrounded her memory, the song lulled Mitsuko to sleep. This time however it spoke of memories that would carry her into the afterlife. Mitsuko could feel the heat getting stronger. Mitsuko didn't want to die, that much was certain. But if she was fated to do so, she would make sure her sacrifice was worth it. Although she had been alive for 16 years, she truly hadn't lived until the past few months. It was as if meeting her partner revealed her true path. Patamon. A few images of him were conjured into her mind. The first time they met, the laughs they shared, and even him with a pork bun stuck half way in his mouth. Alicia, for all the trouble she went through to help her find Patamon, and finding out they were DNA partners! Maia, showing her how to keep her calm as a tamer, as the others seemed to do the fighting for them. Showing the strength it takes to support and even use cards to keep the battle going! Elliot and Isaac, yeah they barely knew each other, but even they risked so much for her today. Surely she could save their life in return right? Would someone even make sure to let her dad know? A small tear crept down her face. "I'm sorry... but its for the greater good." Mitsuko's voice broke upon the last word, as she brought her digivice to her chest. Patamon screamed in rage as he watched the flames flare up once again. No, he wasn't going to lose Mitsuko, not now! Not ever! He stood up on shaking legs and took a few tentative steps towards his partner. He had to help, he just had to! Tears rushed down his face, as he slowly made his way towards his tamer. He saw the glowing light from Mitsuko's digivice, as he took another step, it wrapped around him like a warm embrace. He could feel Mitsuko's love and compassion. It was as if she was saying goodbye. The heat intensified once more, as a feather soft hand reached out and stroked her cheek, was she finally gone? It wasn't as painful as she would have imagined. "M-mom?" Mitsuko opened her eyes to see her Angelic partner beside her. " Partners forever, remember?" "Y-yeah." Mitsuko hiccuped as fresh tears bore down her face. Angemon wiped them away softly, before pulling her into an embrace. Then the world turned white. Angemon folded his wings around them both, her breathing was soft, and even. Death wasn't so bad, if she got to spend it with her partner. She hated seeing him dead too, but they each had made their choice. Mitsuko looked up at Angemon, studying the strong shape of his jaw, he way he made her feel safe, and the way he was looking at something off in the distance. Slowly he unwrapped his wings, wiping the tears from her face. "Suki-chan..."
Mitsuko turned around and was almost tackled by Elliot. A mixture of surprise and rage coursed through her veins. Did harmony renege on their deal?! "What... What..." Mitsuko looked up at her partner in confusion, until she realized their surroundings. She didn't die afte rall. The silverette's gaze finally falling upon the glowing white mass. Mitsuko could hardly believe her eyes, after all the trials and battles... the Digimental of Harmony finally floated before her... it was truly hers after all! Shock ran through her body, as all she could do was stare at the beautiful thing. It was almost spherical in shape, and completely made of what looked like crystal or diamond. It sparkled brightly in the shifting light. But rather than being etched upon the surface, the symbol of harmony was inside the egg. Harmony was truly within all things, even the egg itself. The sigil of harmony was a set of golden wings, wrapping around what appeared to be the silvery colored music symbol of a treble clef. Slowly she raised her hands to meet the gemstone-like egg. Upon contact, she heard the spirit of harmony whisper within her head. "You're truly ready, you are the bearer of Harmony. There are different paths to equilibrium, that much you've proven. The one you tread is a riskier path, and yet at the same time a more fulfilling one. You've proven yourself to me, and as such I am contracted to you. I am yours to command as you wish, just call upon me whenever you need a bit of Harmony." The voice softly dissipated. Mitsuko smiled broadly as she raised her hands, the egg floating inches above them. "Egg that conseals the power of Harmony, reveal your true nature to me. I, Mitsuko, command you under our contract. Release!" A wind whipped around Mitsuko and Elliot. Gold, silver, and white lights sparkled around the egg before exploding into a shower of glitter like lights that enveloped Angemon. "Angemon armor digivolve to... Chirinmon! The Spirit of Harmony!"
A winged horse-like form now stood where Angemon once was. It was Emerald and bronze in color, with the sigil of Harmony emblazoned upon its chest plate. "You did it, Suki-chan." Chirinmon's silky voice said softly, as it nuzzled its head against her hand, his fur was so soft. "No, we did it. All of us." Mitsuko brushed away a tear, before draping her hand onto Elliot's shoulder. "Together. I couldn't had done any of this, without you guys. Thank you." She gave Elliot a smile and looked back, seeking Isaac. Hopefully he was alright as well. Combat Log:
1. Angemon reverted back to Patamon 2. Patamon forced digivolution back to Angemon. 3. Angemon armor digivolved to Chirinmon.

Elliot, amazed, as the Digimental of Harmony made its descent, explaining that Mitsuko had proven her worth as Harmony's new bearer. Really, what other conclusion could be reached? In the face of everything, she had proven her ability to keep calm and composed. She endured insults, threats, and even the resurrection of horrid memories, not even letting the possibility of her own death ruin her outlook on life. Frankly, if Mitsuko's reflection still denied this to her, she'd be exactly as huge of a bitch as Mitsuko thought she was. Angemon capped off this revelation with a brand new form, surprisingly elegant and soft-spoken for how much of a goofball Patamon was before.
Maybe now everything would be okay.
Sure, Isaac came stumbling out of the ice like a man possessed, furiously blowing green fire across the room, but once he saw that Mitsuko was fine he let his temper die down. "That was one nasty trap," he said, letting out a few lingering shivers as he de-Digivolved down from Devidramon to Orochimon. Reptiles may've been cold blooded, but all of the booze perpetually coursing through Orochimon's system did a lot to help warm him up. He let out a relieved sigh as he let the sake circulate. "Looks like you didn't skip a beat dealing with it, though. Damn good job."
Elliot smiled softly at Mitsuko as she reassuringly put a hand on his shoulder, finally releasing his hug. "I'm glad we could help," he said. However, despite the softness of his smile, or perhaps accented by it, some worry shined in his eyes. He remained quiet for a while, but slowly he broke eye contact and looked down at the floor. "You wouldn't really do that, would you? Like, let yourself die . . ." Just saying the word made him naturally tense up a bit. Mitsuko was way too sweet and helpful to deserve that! It wouldn't have been fair!
