What in the World Happened Here? [Dracnos|Open]

The warehouses all looked the same, but there was something familiar about the area. Leo looked around from building to building and shrugged his shoulders. "All I remember is that it looked like a really small office building before you went down into the warehouse. There was a small desk, a chair, a single filing cabinet, and a water jug in a white room. I think there was some kind of old elevator in the room too, but I don't remember." Leo said, looking in through some of the windows. Many of the buildings looked like they had been untouched for quite some time, but this didn't make it any easier in their search for the warehouse.
Rich stopped walking and looked around at the surrounding buildings. Everything seemed so much bigger than before, but that was probably due to the size change. "We can't check all of these buildings for this stupid warehouse. There has to be an easier way to get underground." Rich looked around at the buildings and peeked through one of the windows. "Maybe we can find an old building and bust up the floor and make our own entrance underground."
Leo shook his head. "We can't do that, Rich. It would shake the whole structure of the building and the whole thing will collapse. Besides, if were just blasting our way underground, it wouldn't be subtle at all and we may get some unwanted visitors." Leo always played the voice of reason behind Rich's ideas. The young tamer sighed and dug his hands in his pockets.
"There has to be a way to find this place without checking every building. Even if we could somehow check them all, the buildings are too damaged to recognize what's inside..." Leo returned to the group and shook his head. "I'm not entirely sure what to do next. Everything looks so different now."
Rich looked at the debris all over the ground but noticed one area that was still roped off by caution tape. He walked up to the tape and grabbed a piece in his hands. "After all this time, why would this still be here? This whole area looks demolished, yet this place is the only one that's taped off." Rich turned to the group. "This has gotta be it. This has Max written all over it. He was as subtle as a firecracker."
Leo took the tape out of his tamer's hands and examined it closer. "I don't know about this, Rich. I don't like how this building is standing. Maybe it wasn't Max that put this here and it was someone who is warning us that the area isn't safe? I don't know if we should go in." Leo said, dropping the tape on the ground. "This whole area should be condemned! Why is this the only one with tape? Cmon, Leo. It just doesn't make any sense."
"We should at least get the opinion of everyone else before doing something potentially life threatening? What does everyone think?"

DracNos stared at the two, with an uncharacteristic blank expression. "I'm disappointed. I thought you knew me better than that." he sighed, walking past the group, straight towards the tape, "I mean, just look at how flimsy their security is!" he remarked, flicking at the tape before slicing it with the claw of his index finger, and stomping just ahead of that point, before standing in a broad position, flaunting the supposed flimsiness of the barrier, before spinning on the spot, and taking large steps into the area.

Eventually their search would take them to a taped off area. Rich guessed that this was the place that they were looking for, and Dracnos dispatched of the flimsy barrier quite swiftly. Sophie looked at the entrance unsurely.
"Hmm... I think it might be best for me to evolve here" Lantis said. "Better sooner than later, if there's any leftover security or dangerous things down there. We should of course investigate now that we're here. And, if we encounter anything that's too difficult, we could always call for assistance from your brother".
Sophie could agree with that. She didn't think Colin, Luke and Bellamy would have any trouble with security systems.
"Yeah, I think you're right" Sophie said, removing her digivice from its pocket. At once, Lantis shone with bright light, growing massively in size.
"Spadamon digivolve to... Leomon!"
The light faded, and Lantis had transformed from a small lion knight to a massive lion man. He made a little flourish as the light of the evolution ceased, looking quite pleased. "Now then... is there any security features that we should be aware of?" he asked Rich and Leo, before proceeding in after Dracnos.

Rich and Leo watched Dracnos take large steps into the area."You don't have to be cautious outside. D.A.T.S. wouldn't put any security outside in case someone just happened to stumble upon it. You may want to step like that inside though depending on what's in there" Rich said, watching the digimon's motions.
Leo listened to the concern that Sophie and Lantis had about the defenses inside and smiled. "Relax, guys. We have enough firepower here to take on anything they would have left in here. You don't need to bother your backup." Leo watched Lantis digivolve into Leomon and shrugged. "Better safe than sorry I guess. We should be prepared in case things have gone bad down there."
''Security systems... Well that's a good question. They probably left something to guard the good stuff in case they wanted to go back for them, but I'm not sure what exactly it could be. Its probably a combination of some kind of digimon and whatever security systems are up and running right now, but that's all I can think of. Leo, you have any input on this?" Rich said, looking at his digimon.
Leo closed his eyes and tried to remember anything about the warehouse inside. "There's something we're forgetting, but I guess we'll figure it out when we get in there. If everyone is ready, we should head inside. Rich, you should have Thumper do a sweep when we get in there to give us an idea of what we're dealing with and where we're going." Leo said, pointing to Rich's watch before heading into the crumbling building.
Inside the building was everything that Leo mentioned before, but it was obvious this place had taken some damage. Pieces of the ceiling had caved in, there was graffiti spray painted on the walls, and the light fixtures were hanging from the ceiling by a wire. It was dark, but the fire from Leo's body illuminated the area. The only thing that looked untouched was the elevator in the back of the room. Leo summoned a flaming sword to his hand to provide more light for the area.
Rich walked up to the elevator and put a hand on the doors. "This was the entrance, but I'm not sure if this thing is operational anymore." Leo walked up next to him and pushed the button on the wall to call the elevator, but nothing happened. Rich turned around and looked at Lantis. "You think you can pry these doors open for us, big guy? I can't do much heavy lifting as a 7 year old."

DracNos followed the group inside, purposely ignoring all of the fake words like "security" or "operational". When the group approached the elevator, he grinned, "step aside, mortals, I will handle this." he stated, in a big voice, as he dug his claws into the elevator doors, trying to pry them open. They didn't budge in the slightest, and he was obviously straining his body doing so. Straining his body so much, that he started swelling and turning all black, after a moment of this, he exploded into several pieces of black material, each of which transformed into tiny bats wearing his mask and grin. "We'll see what's ahead" they all chittered, flying into the metal doors and phasing straight through them. The swarm of Drac-bats peered around the elevator shaft, searching for some mechanism to work with.

Lantis appreciated Leo's concern. "Yes, thank you, but, I only want to protect my partner as much as I can, and, well, to be frank, from what I've seen of its effects, the technology of DATS doesn't leave me with much confidence that it would be perfectly safe".
Indeed, from what Lantis had heard from it, DATS seemed to have collapsed from both a lack of leadership and also the fact that the technology performed on its members led to extraordinary things like what happened to Rich. He would not like the same thing to happen to his own partner.
So there would be some kind of security system awaiting them here? Okay, that would at least give them a notice of sorts not to expect that the red carpet would be rolled out for them. Take every step as one not for granted, that would be the way Sophie and Lantis would approach this.
Rich mentioned that this "thumper" should do a sweep before they entered. Sophie tilted her head in confusion, but came to conclude that this 'thumper' was Rich's AI watch thingy. So she held her tongue for now.
Once inside, there was little light. Thankfully there was little impediment, after Leo lit the way with his flaming sword, there seemed like there were no hostiles in the area. However, the way forward was via elevator, and, it didn't exactly seem to be working properly. So it seemed that Lantis's strength was called upon.
However, before he did so, Dracnos attempted to do the feat first. Lantis had doubts it would work, and sure enough, as Dracnos attempted, his body turned black, swelled and exploded. Sophie screamed a little, covering her mouth, but, saw that it hadn't caused lasting damage to the little digimon, seeing him phase through the doors and flap down into the shaft. Well then. It seemed for the rest of them, Lantis would have to act out his part.
"Okay, I'll see what I can do" he said, trying to find a grip on the steel elevator doors. With all his might, he pried them open. Given that his strength was on par with some of the most powerful humans, Lantis managed the feat well enough. But would it result in a working elevator? He was hesitant to find out. He and his partner would not step into the shaft until they were sure that a working elevator was there in front of them.
Before they did so, while they still had a cellphone signal, Sophie sent a message to her little brother, that, somehow, in this situation, they may need his help. She sent this discreetly, hoping that he would at least be put on standby.

Rich and Leo watched as Dracnos blew past everyone and attempted to open the elevator doors by himself. His attempt ended in a miraculous explosion of bats. This was the first time Rich had seen a digimon who had these kinds of abilities, but he seemed more interested on getting the doors open. Lantis stepped forward and was able to pry the elevator doors open with ease. Leo held his sword out in front of him to get a good look in the shaft.
Inside was the elevator car that waiting to be used. Leo walked into the elevator and a screen interface on the elevator wall. The screen lit up with symbols moving across the screen and the light flooded out into the main room. Leo let his flame sword go out and walked forward to try to read the message on the wall. After studying the message for a minute, he turned to Rich and pointed at the screen, "Rich, what does this say?"
Rich stepped in the elevator and looked up at the display. After a few moments, he shrugged and crossed his arms. "I couldn't tell ya, Leo. Its been too long since I've had to read Japanese." Rich walked up and put his right hand on the wall and the letters changed to English.'PLEASE DISPLAY CREDENTIALS' flashed across the screen and lit up the elevator. "I think its talking about my digivice, but I still can't get it out of my watch."
Leo stepped forward and started feeling along the walls for a button or a switch, but he came up with nothing. Rich went to try to get his digivice out of his watch, but he was still unable to retrieve it. "I don't know what to do. I can't get my digivice IC out until we fix my watch in the warehouse... Maybe we can find a different way down?" There has to be a staircase or something in case of fires, right?"
Leo put his hand to his chin and ran his claws through his fur. His eyes lit up when an idea hit him. He took Rich's hand and pushed it against the wall, so the watch face touched the wall. The words went away and were replaced by a loading symbol. After a few moments, the elevator turned before the elevator light flickered to life and a muffled hum could be heard coming from it. "That'll do it. Now, who's ready to go to the underground?" Leo said, leaning on the side of the elevator.
Rich touched the wall and a small ripple effect displayed on the screen around Rich's finger. After messing with the interface for a minute, the elevator seemed to accept the commands. "I think we're all set to go. I'm not sure how much has changed since we were last here, so just be prepared for anything, guys. The elevator is a little fast, but just hold onto the wall and you should be fine. I'll put in the command to descend when everyone's ready."

About five bat heads, all wearing DeacNos's mask, poked through the roof of the small elevator chamber, "Nothing cool." one said, "boring and dark" another chittered, "metal an' wires" a third chirped, before they all looked at the console, somehow, and spoke in unison, "we going? Okay." the three heads pulled themselves back, out of view, before scuffling could be heard, before a hand full of red claws stuck under the access plate on the top of the chamber, before tearing it back, revealing the life-sized mask and grin of DracNos, he crouched over the hole, before rolling head-first into the small room, doing half a flip before landing on his back. He swiftly regained his footing, acting as though nothing happened, "let's go!" he said, slightly louder than necessary.

Seeing that the elevator was relatively safe for now, Sophie and Lantis entered, taking positions to the side. Sophie was still a bit nervous, after all, being in an enclosed space in the dark was something that made her uncomfortable. Not unbearably so, but, that was the ticket. Thankfully the elevator was in sturdy condition as well, given that Lantis easily weighed over 300lb in his champion form.
They stood by while Rich attempted to get the panel to work. Unfortunately there was a roadblock here, Rich didn't seem to have his digivice on him, so the security clearance couldn't be activated.
Thankfully Leo had an idea of what to do, and pressing the watch to the panel seemed to do the trick. Sophie felt a little better now that the elevator was activated.
"Alright... exactly how far underground is it?" Sophie asked, curiously. The deeper it was, the higher the budget of this place. And even moreso, the more reason for this much security.
Lantis watched Dracnos's antics with a bemused expression. "You seem like a fun person to have around at parties" he remarked, chuckling. He held onto the rail along with Sophie, waiting with a bit of curiosity and excitement to see what was down here.

The elevator motor hummed as the elevator descended down into the depths. Rich looked up at Dracnos' coming through the top of the elevator and rolled his eyes at him. "You can only make so many grand entrances, buddy. You start to expect them after a few of them." Rich slumped against the wall and started fiddling with his watch as the car dove deeper and deeper down the shaft.
Leo shot a glare at Rich for his remark towards Dracnos. "Oh don't mind him, he's kinda bitter since he's had come back, but he's still a good guy." Leo remarked, trying to make Rich feel guilty. Leo tapped his foot in anticipation of the door opening. He was worried that something could still be guarding this old base or if the machine wasn't operational, but he didn't want the rest of the group to know it. He took a deep breath to regain himself and looked up at the interface of the elevator. "How long does this thing go for? I feel like it's been forever!"
"Calm down, Leo. We just got on this thing like a minute ago." Rich said, finishing the input on his watch. The elevator went on for another few seconds, then the elevator screeched to a halt. The interface inside the elevator went dark before opening up to a hallway with hanging lights going all down it. Rich stepped off the elevator and looked around. On every side of the elevator, there appeared to be long hallways identical to the one in front of them." This... This could be harder than I thought."
Leo walked off behind his tamer and scanned the area. "Yeah. I don't know where to go from here. We were always brought here and had to follow someone to wherever we had to go." Leo closed his eyes and thought for a moment. "I think we should look for that lab where they were always working on new things. Maybe they left some tools in there or something that can help fix your watch. Look. This looks like a map on this wall." He said, strolling over to the wall. Leo looked over the map for a few moments before turning back around. "I think the lab is this way." Leo pointed his claw down one of the hallways as he read the information off the map. "Someone should take a picture of this so we don't get lost."
Rich looked down at his watch and pushed the watch face. making a bright flash of green light. When the light faded, Thumper the Blackgargomon was standing in front of Rich. "Hey, Thumper. Sorry to bother you, but we need your help for a minute." Thumper looked around at the new faces, then he looked back at Rich. "Everyone, this is Thumper. Thumper, this is Dracnos, Sophie, and Lantis." Thumper nodded at each of them respectively but remained silent. "Do you think you can scope out this hallway for us and tell us if there's anything we should worry about?" Thumper nodded, then whispered something underneath his breath. Within a moment, his body shimmered and turned invisible.
Rich turned to the rest of the group and smiled. "That's Thumper for ya. A mon of many words. He's gonna go on ahead and tell us if there's anything we need to worry about up ahead. "Rich said, pointing down the hall. Leo looked around at the other hallways and shivered. This place was big, but he wasn't exactly sure how big. He didn't like the thought of something watching them while they were so far underground. "Let's just get going. The sooner we can get out of here, the better."

"That's why some (mainly myself) call me a Party Program!" He replied to Lantis, placing his hands on his hips, taking a broad, confident stance, puffing his chest out. Upon hearing Rich's snark, he snapped around, pointing at him, basically ignoring Leo's apology, "No. Y'see, I see an opportunity, I take it, simple as that." He stated, almost menacingly, before continuing, "Besides, I need to make sure my representation is stuck in your memories, repetition really can drive that into a person, I've noticed." He explained, casually.
Upon reaching the seemingly endless hallways, he glanced around, before the gun-toting rabbit appeared in front of them, muttering to himself before vanishing on the spot. "Fun guy." He commented, "Hey, just so we don't get lost, why don't we..." He paused, to jam his claws into a wall, scratching a small but highly visible gouge from it, "...Mark our path? Y'know, so we don't get lost!" He asked, pointing at the four claw marks.

Sophie chose to stay out of the conversation about Rich being bitter. Well, of course, he seemed to have suffered some kind of strange digimon related curse, that'd certainly make anyone bitter. Then again, Dracnos just looked like he was having fun and was helping them after all. Ah, best not say anything.
Instead, Sophie felt an increasing sense of nervousness as the elevator plunged deeper and deeper. Every second that passed made her think that another million yen had gone into the building of this facility. And that was a lot.
When the elevator came to a halt, she gasped, hoping it meant what she thought and the elevator had come to a halt. Turned out it had.
"Jeez, some 'warehouse' isn't it?" Lantis asked, folding his arms. "Well then. I propose we stick together rather than split up. We don't want to lose each other while we're down here". Fortunately there seemed to be a kind of map on the wall. Leo suggested someone take a picture of it.
"Alright" Sophie said, taking her phone from her pocket and snapping a picture. She noted that her cellphone signal was limited down here, understandable. Although it would mean that her options to call for help was limited.
Then Rich summoned forth another digimon. Sophie would have been more astonished, if she hadn't seen her brother conjure an airship in a similar manner. Still though, it was kind of a surprise.
"Exactly how many digimon do you have on you?" she asked him curiously. So Thumper would scout on ahead. Okay, that was a good idea. And Dracnos had the idea to leave marks on the wall for the path that they had walked. "Ah, good thinking" she added.

Rich took one last look at the map before starting off in the designated direction." Marking our path is a good idea.Just keep your claw on the wall the whole time so we don't have any gaps."
The young tamer shrugged when asked about his digimon stock. "Well... I have a few of them with me, but nothing too crazy. We've been in the digital world for a while and we made a few friends who are more than willing to help our cause. Let's just say I have someone to help us out for any kind of occasion whether we need some extra muscle or some recon done. Leo is my main mon though. He's always by my side. "
Leo blushed a bit when he heard his name mentioned, but it was hard to see underneath the red fur. Rich and Leo really only had each other to rely on in both worlds. Leo didn't like thinking about it with that outlook. He saw it as they had been through so much together, they have learned that they each will have a reliable source right there whenever they need it. The thought of this made Leo smile to himself as he walked alongside his tamer.
Leo slowed his pace a bit so he could walk next to Lantis. Leo always felt weird around Leomon because they both shared the same name and lion like appearences, but he felt better knowing he had known Lantis before he became a Leomon. "So how did you guys get mixed up in DATS? I know they're not the most secretive, but we haven't heard a word of their activity from the digital world in a long while. We kinda thought they died with the last revival with Josh, but then you guys show up."
"Okay so according to the map, we need to head down here and take a right, then left, then.... a left? Maybe it was a right actually. Ah, we'll figure it out." The tamer scratched his head in confusion, but he needed to make a decision soon since the turn was coming up.
As they walked through the hallways, the lights in front of them lit up and the ones behind them shut off as they passed. Rich took notice of this but didn't think anything of it at the time. Leo also took notice of it and was keeping an eye on the darkness that followed behind them. He still wasn't entirely convinced that this area was safe and wanted to make sure everybody made it out unharmed.

Drac felt confident. He made a use of himself! And that was pretty cool. While his claws weren't extremely sharp, they were enough to leave noticeable gouges, which was the only necessity in his assignment. He listened to the directions, and glanced at the first right, with his non-slashing hand, and shrugged. He was doing his part, he would leave the way-finding to the guy's with the map. He was, however, listening in to the story about DATS, and was curious as to what Sophie might say. He also decided to let the lions discuss amongst themselves, feeling a bit out of place in that kind of conversation.

Sophie supposed that was believable. After all, her little brother Colin had digimon friends he could summon other than his partners. That it was a sentient airship made Sophie just a little bit jealous, but, there were all sorts of mercenaries out there. And it seemed that Colin wasn't the only one to have such an arrangement.
Lantis meanwhile wondered if he should go ahead and say what he wanted or not. He thought that surely if digimon were willing to devote themselves to Rich's cause, he shouldn't really stay in retirement, right? But, then again, the Leomon supposed that he didn't know what arrangements Rich might have for his team, so, he supposed he shouldn't be so quick to judge.
As they walked along, Lantis paid attention to Leo. The answer was fairly simple. "Well, my partner Sophie isn't really someone who can take something she sees as a problem laying down" he said. "We might not have seen much in the way of trouble, but, we've heard stories from her brother. With DATS gone, well, there isn't much stopping a bad digimon wander into our world and cause damage. So, Sophie thinks it's a problem that can be solved by us taking up the job, especially if nobody else will..."
Then again, Lantis looked at his partner, then at Rich. DATS seemed to have disbanded because they seemed to have a breakdown in leadership, as well as many tragic accidents with encounters with enemy digimon. Would the same happen to AEGIS? Well, not if Lantis could help it... but, he again realized, he was simply a Champion level. He couldn't protect her from Perfect levels or worse than that.
"It'll be hard..." Lantis admitted. "But, I think it we go at this carefully and purposefully, we could do it. Although... I hope to evolve further before we more fully commit to this endeavor". And Lantis had just evolved to Leomon not long ago. How could he help his partner more? Maybe they could find something like a digimental or a mercenary to help them?
Sophie meanwhile listened to what he had to say, but simply smiled. She had little to add to that, other than silent praise for her partner to say what she was thinking.
As they walked, Sophie noted that the lights went off as they continued through the facility. While yes, it could be a simple power saving measure, if nobody is there, the lights go out. But really, it was discomforting, especially in such an unknown and possibly dangerous place such as this. Oh well. At least Dracnos was marking their path, they could simply run back if they found something that could threaten them.
