There had been a notable change about Colin since the Battle of Whitewater. Since biomerging with his twin partners, Luke and Bellamy, the young human had simply looked like he had grown a little. Not in height, but maturity.
Like his partners, he now wore a scarf around his neck. And, most curiously, he now had red eyes. His hair had also grown longer, and he had a stern, battle-hardened look about him.
And furthermore, the change had somewhat affected both of his partners too, both of them getting some kind of physical characteristic from each other. With Luke, the previously blue fur on his person was now purple, and with Bellamy, the white fur on his face had extended to his belly. It seemed that a side effect of their DNA Biomerge had been that some data from the others had lingered.
"Heh, wonder how Coronamon will think of me now, eh?" Bellamy asked as he looked at himself in the mirror.
"Eh, I'm pretty sure he'll still be lusting after your butt" Luke assured him.
"Sure hope so" Bellamy said, turning around. "Yeesh, it's white like yours now" he remarked.
"Hope he doesn't mistake me for you" Luke said, looking at his own changes, seeing that his face looked a bit more impish and devilish.
"You liar" Bellamy teased.
Today they were on a trip over to Snowflake Village in the North, mainly to check up on how repairs were going in that village, and also to report the appearance of BlackDynasmon and Chaosmon to Koharu. The three had slept soundly through the night together. Somehow, Luke and Bellamy wanted to be close to Colin for a while afterward, sleeping to the feeling of Colin petting their fur.
As they awoke the next morning, it was already cool outside. They wouldn't be far from the village now. After a warm breakfast, Colin put on his coat, preparing to get up to the deck. As he did so, he looked over at Luke and Bellamy in the lounge cabin.
"Hey guys..." he said. "Can we talk for a bit up on the deck?"
"Hm? Sure thing, Colin" Luke said, getting up. Bellamy did the same, the two digimon had a feeling they knew what Colin was going to talk about. They followed him up to the deck. The wind outside was cool, but, refreshing. They took a seat by a windguard that prevented them being too knocked about by the passing air.
"Pardon me for interrupting, but, do you wish for me not to overhear?" Daedalus asked through his cabin intercom.
"Nah, it's fine, Daedalus, you're part of this family too" Colin said.
"Ah... thank you very much for saying that" the airship digimon answered, then remained silent. Bellamy and Luke then waited for what Colin was going to say.
"First up, guys..." he said to them. "When we were biomerged. I... saw everything. Your memories, your feelings... and I guess you saw mine too, huh?"
Hearing Colin confirm that, Bellamy sighed a little. He would have much rather told Colin the story of his past life verbally, but, he supposed there was no better way to share a story than to meld the memories into one, eh?
"Yeah, we did, Colin" Luke said, patting his partner's arm. As the Elecmon felt the resonance of Colin's soul as BlackJupitermon, he could tell that Colin loved them both very dearly.
"It's... kinda amazing, seeing how you two became twins" Colin continued, smiling at them. "And seeing the whole thing... I'm proud of you both"
It had indeed been a long story. Bellamy, once simply "Impmon" had been a delinquent bully. And Luke, or just "Elecmon" back then, was a loser courier. But, they had met one day, bonded, and quickly became inseparable. They had even come to love each other.
They went over the story verbally so that Daedalus could hear and understand. How they almost fought as they met, but decided to become friends, how Luke stood up for Bellamy when a digimon came seeking retribution to the Impmon. How they decided to become mercenaries, how they both almost lost their lives at the bottom of a frozen lake.
It finally made sense for Colin. This was why they both fought their hardest when the other was hurt. This was why Luke and Bellamy rarely fought against each other, despite being brothers. Instead, they seemed more like best friends than rival siblings. And then when the end came, he supposed this was why when they saw that the other was in danger, their eyes would glow and they would use their strongest attacks.
"I just wanna ask though..." Colin continued, hesitantly. "When the end came... that Dinohumon. Does it... still hurt?"
Hearing that name again, Bellamy's mouth contorted with anger. Luke's did too. What he had done to them... he had slashed across Luke's eye, cut off Bellamy's hand, then broke his other arm. And he had smashed them both into the ground when they made one last desperate attack. Then the last thing they remembered as their lives as Impy and Leky ended, was seeing each other's face fade into data.
"Yeah..." Bellamy answered, clenching his fists. "I'd say it still hurts".
"Alright" Colin said, nodding. "Well then. That settles it. I promise you both, we're going to hunt him down, and we're going to make him pay for what he did".
Bellamy and Luke stared at him. Neither had ever suspected Colin would be like that.
"Colin, you don't have to-" Luke began hesitantly, but Colin shook his head.
"No. He's an evil digimon, and he hurt you two" Colin said. "Nobody hurts my partners like this. As of now, you're two of the strongest digimon in the world, and we WILL make him face justice".
The Elecmon and Impmon were speechless. And... kind of proud of their partner too. All they could do was give nervous grins back up at him.
"Alright then" Bellamy said, supposing there was nothing else for it. "Just... gotta make sure we don't neglect our other duties, right?"
That was in agreement. They would not neglect their duties to PROFIT for this. They would do what they had to do.
"Er, also, Colin..." Bellamy said, hesitantly. "You, uh, saw all of my memories, right?"
"Yeah, I did" Colin answered, both him and Luke looking at him with cheeky expressions. "You, uh, really do love Coronamon don't you?"
"I wouldn't have predicted you'd be a power bottom either" Luke added.
"Eheh... I know it's probably somethin' you weren't meant to see, but, hey, you were the one that looked inside my mind" Bellamy smirked back. Colin mostly tried to ignore what he saw, given that it was none of his business. But, it was kind of nice to know just how full of love the Impmon's heart was for his family. And the same with Luke's.
"Well... that was a fascinating story" Daedalus remarked, almost making the three jump as he had been so silent. "Thank you for sharing it with me. And, when the time comes, I shall assist you in making Dinohumon face justice"
"Thanks, Daedalus" Colin said to the airship. Before going back inside, he put an arm around both Bellamy and Luke and hugged them close, glad to have the two at his side. Snow was starting to fall by now, gently fluttering across the airship deck. With that, the three retired into the cabin, preparing to land at Snowflake Village.
