Oboro and Gomamon found themselves on beaches of Whitewater. Oboro had previously been happily skipping around through the city of Whitewater, excited after a chance encounter left him in possession of a map. The legend from the strange person that had given it to him said that it lead to treasure! However, Oboro had been too loud and obnoxious in his joyous outburst, and word got out that there was some annoying kid running around with a treasure back.
Almost immediately, the map was stolen by a passerby Hookmon. Oboro had none of this and gave chase immediately. He was naturally fast, but the pirate-like Digimon had managed to escape onto a ship on the beach and sailed off, taunting Oboro as his crew cheered.
Now, Oboro and Gomamon stared at the ship on the horizon. The two of them knew that they wouldn't be able to catch up. Oboro couldn't bring himself to get past the shoreline, even though he had a safe method of transport in Ikkakumon. Oboro sighed heavily as they both sat in the sand, upset that their carelessness had cost them some treasure.

Tetsu is wearing beach parka and overall just swimming trunks other than that. Let's not get how he's actually quite happy being able to show off his nice physique. Gryz on the other hand just being that huge grizzly bear who keep making zen face as he walked behind his partner... they're here to relax so to say... but then they saw Oboro and Gomamon.
"Ooooy! Oboro! What's up?" the boy approached his jogress partner, thinking that he want to go to swim, but... the expression on the other boy is kind of concerning.
"...Now what's wrong?"
Gryz approached them and looked at both Oboro and the sea. "...Hmmm, something gone there, lad? Maybe we can get it if you---oh... huh..." the dawning thoughts somehow become obvious to him. If he's moping here, then possibly it gone far...if it gone far and he's here, that means there's something that he can't get over there. Now if he's here and not on Ikkakumon's back... did the time back then in the tundra made him traumatized?
"...Hmm, now this is tough," Gryz muttered. "Can you tell us anyway?"

Oboro was busy curled up in a ball sulking about his misfortune when Tetsu and Gryz showed up. Gomamon noticed their presence first, so he went up to greet them. "Hey, guys!" he said, still relaxed and cheerful. "We found a treasure map earlier! Unfortunately..." he looked out to the sea. "Some pirates managed to steal it from Oboro and are sailing away with it. We would go chase after them, but...Oboro's afraid of water."
Oboro didn't really stir. He normally would've argued with Gomamon, but he couldn't anymore. It was obvious. His own irrational phobia was keeping him from bonding more with his Digimon, and also limited his opportunities as a Tamer.
Gomamon sighed. "I don't suppose you can help?"

"So that was the story," Gryz nodded in understanding. "I don't blame you. Drowning in big water body could be very scary... but hey... on the plus side, I think we can help a bit..." he pointed at Tetsu that start filling floaters with air. "That, see? Wear a lot and we'll teach you how to swim just in case... because I can't cross the ocean all that easily. I'm a bear, not a walrus. I'm not a polar bear either... I think my mass would be detrimental for long time swimming... On good news, too, you'll be less likely to sink in the sea than in the river."
"By the way, how good of a swimmer are you, Gryz?"
"I can go about twenty minutes without break," the bear Digimon answered. "But more than that is slightly impossible. I'll also have to ask you to swim alone, because these gloves..." he looked down at his Kuma Claw gloves "are damn heavy... Well, if you're against us swimming to follow, we can also rent boat, you see? I think that'll be easier. Which one do you prefer, Oboro?"

Gomamon looked down at Oboro, who had barely even reacted to Tetsu's arrival. "Come on, Oboro. We can do it together! I'll carry you across the sea as Ikkakumon!"
Oboro finally looked up and saw Tetsu blowing up some floaties. He chuckled a little bit, and finally stood up. "Let's go get some treasure," he smirked, grabbing his Digivice. He was doing his best to put on a brave face, but the vast ocean before him was still terrifying. Floaties or no, that was still how his father was killed.
Gomamon turned to Tetsu and Gryz. "I'll probably be able to carry the two of you, too! No need to worry about swimming if you don't want to!"

Looks like floaters managed to make him slightly less afraid of the great sea? That's good. Gryz watched as Tetsu helped the other boy in putting the floater. The bear dared to ask finally. "By the way, Tetsu, how good are you in swimming?"
"Quite good. There's no sea near where I lived, but I'm good enough to swim against the a river's current," the boy said, raising a thumbs up on the last part of his sentence.
...The more Gryz heard about it, the more that Tetsu sounded like a really wild boy. Just one more step then he's probably a fullfledged Tarzan...
"Hmmm, well, I guess I'll take on your offer. What about you, Tetsu?"
"Ride of course. We gotta go quick or the pirates would be truly gone!"
Gryz devolved back to his Bearmon form and fixed his cap, then waited for his jogress half to evolve...

With the group in agreement, Oboro held his Digivice up high, allowing his partner to evolve. "Gomamon Digivolve to...Ikkakumon!"Oboro graciously accepted the floaties from Tetsu and hopped onto his Digimon's back. Once the whole crew was on board, Ikkakumon shot like a rocket through the water, headed straight for the direction that the ship had left in. *** A few minutes later, the team had located the ship, but it was docked on an island far off from the coast. Once Ikkakumon reached land, he turned and tried to look back. "We're here," he said calmly. Oboro opened his eyes and released his death grip on Ikkakumon's fur. He had buried his face in the Digimon's fur before they had even started sailing away, but he managed to make it through alright!

Floaties might help, but at the same time, he wondered just how much it will help in this sort of situation? Looking at Oboro hanging for dear life on Ikkakumon's fur made Tetsu pitied the boy somewhat, especially because how scared he looked. It might because he got drowned back then? It must be really terrifying.
Luckily, their journey did not take long. Soon they arrived to an island... probably where the pirates are? Tetsu evolves Gryz back to Gryzmon and the bear looked happy to be service. Now the problem is where is the pirate? Maybe if they're lucky, the pirates is here and already left looking for the treasure. That going to leave the ship minimally guarded. He really hope that this is the case though...
"What's the plan for now, you two?"

Oboro shook himself off and looked around. The ship rested on a small sandy beach, which was the only thing separating the ocean from a huge, dense jungle. Small cuts in the underbrush lead Oboro to believe that the pirates had taken swathes through the jungle towards the treasure. "There's some tracks over here," he said quietly. "If we follow where they're cutting down trees and stuff, we'll find them! Maybe they'll even lead us to treasure!" He took off quickly, not really waiting for the others to catch up.
Ikkakumon quickly reverted to his Rookie form and jumped onto Oboro's back. The two of them were ready to take on some pirates, now that Oboro was back on dry land!

Hmmm, where they cutting the trees, that's indeed a right way... but Tetsu was wondering if it's not better if they check the ship first? But then again, doing that would lead to the pirates finding the treasure first! With no choice, the two decided to put their hope on Oboro's strategy. However, the fact that the boy took off first before his jogress partner only means that the treasure meant a lot for him, huh... No room to discuss. They also took off. Tetsu get on Gryz's back and let his friend lead the way.
"...I wonder what sort of treasure it was?" Tetsu muttered.
Just as he said that, his Digivice suddenly trilled, showing a green light not too far from here. What does this mean? Is it Digimental? Or is it something else? He hoped that Oboro heard that, but if he didn't... he have no choice but to drop the search of whatever his Digivice wanted and support his friend first. Friend before yourself, that's what his father said, and he's not the one to drop that sort of teaching.

Oboro followed the dense path through the jungle until he lead the group into a small clearing. This didn't really seem to be the direction that the pirates had been going in, but something had caught the young boy's eye as they walked. Giving off a slight gleam in the undergrowth were two shiny golden pendants held together by some string. They appeared to be necklaces of some sort. "Hey, Tetsu!" Oboro shouted. "Check this out!" He rushed over and grabbed the pendants and held them in his hand, examining them. "These look pretty cool!"
"Hey, we're finding treasure already!" Gomamon joked, finally settling on a resting spot atop his Tamer's head. He thought that these objects looked familiar to him, but couldn't discern the reason why.
Oboro put one around his neck and handed the other to Tetsu. "Here," he grinned. "A keepsake of our first big adventure together! Just for the two of us!"

He had to admit that his friend is a bit of scatterbrained, but when he's serious in his endeavor, he's really serious. Tetsu stopped abruptly when his friend suddenly distracted by something shiny. That's fine in his opinion. He often get distracted too. The moment he came back, Tetsu honestly thought that they just found exactly what the pirate missed... is this the treasure?
"Oh, for me? Awww... ya shouldn't have--"
Yet, Tetsu seem to like it, the notion of their first trophy. Their shared trophy. He accepted the pendant eagerly... and that was when suddenly his Digivice changed with flash of light, making him nearly almost dropped it in surprise. The formerly simple designed Digivice changed into slightly more intricate, slightly more detailed. The color scheme stayed the same, yet, something feels different...
Now, the green light dissipated... and what left was... strange color. Tetsu's Digivice seem to point out at that direction.
"...What's this?" he muttered.
"...Should we go there?" Gryz asked.
"No, let's wait. We can fetch them later. Oboro's treasure came first."
...Little did they know, that it might intersect, both the treasure... and the strange power.

Tetsu's Digivice seemed to change when he recieved the pendant from Oboro, and not long afterwards the redhead's own Digivice began to glow with a purple light. It also seemed to be pointing in the same direction as Tetsu's Digivice, which meant that whatever they would be looking for would be nearby each other.
"Maybe this is the treasure after all?" Gomamon guessed.
"I bet those pirate losers are there, too!" Oboro said, getting fired up. "We've gotta hurry and get there before they steal whatever this is!" In a flash, he was sprinting through the jungle towards the signal that the Digivice gave, not knowing what was in store.

Hmmm, so they got distraction and now going to the direction of the light instead? Very well. Tetsu nodded in approval. It's seem that both of them are ready. Oboro leads on the front. Being not as fast as his friend, Tetsu lagging slightly behind, but that's fine, it's just lagging. In term of stamina, he probably had enough to chase with his friend easily. But that's.... when somehow, something like a premonition crossed Tetsu. He stopped right on spot.
"...Tetsu?" Gryz called out.
"No... n-nothing, nevermind."
Why did he stopped? He had no idea. Something felt wrong... but that's when he noticed that the tag starting to float, leading him to this direction... yet, this glow... the eerie green light, coupled with sinister red. Something felt wrong, he had no idea why it can become like this yet... it alternates between color...
"............................"
There's no time. He decides to press on.

Oboro didn't really stop to notice Tetsu's little moment to himself. He was too busy tracking down treasure! Where there was treasure, there were sure to be pirates! Perhaps that map was leading them to the same place the Digivice was? Eventually, the boy and the Gomamon riding on top of his head came to a stop when the jungle finally cleared in front of them. Standing in front of them was a giant stone temple that towered over every tree on the island. It seemed strange, though, as they hadn't noticed it on their approach to the island. The pirate crew that had stolen Oboro's map must not have noticed it either, since they were standing outside the monolithic structure in shock. The crew was diverse, with swathes of Koemon and other assorted Rookies swarming the area. At the entrance stood two Hookmon and one CaptainHookmon, who seemed to be holding Oboro's map. Oboro, frustrated to see the pirates beating him to the punch, ran to fight them. "That's my map!" he shouted impatiently as Gomamon leaped off his back. In response, the Digivice began to glow once more. "Gomamon Digivolve to...Ikkakumon!"The huge walrus Digimon crashed onto a few of the smaller Digimon upon evolving, knocking them out. The other Rookies backed off as they recognized the threat. However, the two Hookmon didn't seem to be deterred, and the CaptainHookmon didn't even notice Oboro or Ikkakumon's presence. "Arrr, that be the brat whose map we stole?" the Hookmon to Oboro's right asked. "Aye, thar he be," said the other. "Pretty foolhardy to come all this way. A kid like that could get hurt, eh, brother?" "Arrr, truer words ne'er been spoken," the first Hookmon chuckled. He immediately pointed his cannon at Oboro, prompting the twin Hookmon to do the same. "Captain Cannon!" they shouted in unison, firing huge cannonballs at the young boy. Ikkakumon was quick to react, and managed to line up a shot perfectly. "Northern Light!" he called, shooting a beam of ice that shot straight through both cannonballs, causing them to explode prematurely between Oboro and the Hookmon. The Champion-level Digimon quickly took his place in between Oboro and the danger. Meanwhile, the CaptainHookmon still didn't even acknowledge the battle going on around him. He was busy studying the map.
