The clearing was upon sight... and... this is where Tetsu felt like they're in problem. There's a perfect stage among them. Gryz is ready, but he's not sure that he'll be ready to fight the Captain Hookmon. Oboro leads the first attack, but Gryz and Tetsu decided that they should go with it in other direction, to the other Hookmon... but of course, not through the forest. The sound of rustling leaves would be too much of a dead giveaway... so...
"Earth Sentry!!"
Gryz stomped his paw on the ground and called out stalagmites that flew to the sky and launched itself at the other hookmon. He hope that this would be enough to at least make a distraction so that Ikkakumon could deal another attack to the opponent.
"Tetsu, hide," Gryz told him. He soon joined the fray, all while Tetsu climbed a tree and watched the battle unfold from safe distance.

Gryz quickly made his entrance on the battlefield and attacked Hookmon with a surprise attack. The pirate Digimon fell over as a result and got stuck by the stalagmites. Ikkakumon, meanwhile, focused on the other Hookmon. "Harpoon Torpedo!" he shouted, shooting a missile straight at the opponent. Hookmon didn't get out of the way in time and took the brunt of the explosion, knocking him down and out cold. It seemed these pirates weren't as tough as they looked!
CaptainHookmon finally took notice as his first mates were incapacitated. He turned to face the two Champions, still looking indifferent. "You're being awfully rude," he stated plainly, no hint of pirate talk to be found. "Wait your turn. We were here first, after all!"
"That's because you stole that map from me!" Oboro interjected.
Ikakumon, meanwhile, had hatched a plan. "Oboro, go get your treasure!" he commanded. "Gryz and I will take care of this guy together!" The way Ikkakumon said the word "together" made Oboro realize quickly what he meant. He nodded and motioned for Tetsu's help.
"Let's go!" he shouted, running towards the temple. Oboro's Digivice also started to take on different colors. The grips became white, the buttons became purple, and the body of the Digivice became a dark brown, signifying their DNA Digivolution was imminent. Surely Tetsu's Digivice would start to show this as well.

Tetsu nodded at Oboro and raises his Digivice, letting Gryz to jogress with Ikkakumon. For now, it's true that they need to focus on what they're going for. And for what Tetsu know, the treasure and the light on his Digivice is the one and same thing. The tag on his neck started to float wider, almost like it's calling for its pair. With Blizzarmon dealing with Captain Hookmon, it's a chance...
Tetsu jumped down from his tree and grabbed Oboro's wrist. Hopefully he won't fight or it'll be all for naught. Tetsu looked at his signal again. It leads to... a small shrine nearby. He wondered if that is the shrine that they're looking for... so is this armor? Yet, part of him was unsure. Something felt wrong... his tag doesn't show reaction that it's safe... it's more like something chaotic...
...What could be wrong? He wanted to know, but...

"Ikkakumon!""Gryzmon!""DNA Digivolve to...Blizzarmon!"The fusion was successful, and the imposing form of Blizzarmon landed on the battlefield with a thud. He drew his dual axes and roared, spurring CaptainHookmon to action. "Aye, now ye have my attention!" he shouted, suddenly starting to talk like the pirate he was. He lost all focus on the boys as they ran into the temple. For the moment, all he cared about was fighting this strong-looking opponent. He flipped through the air and brought his revolver leg down on Blizzarmon in an axe-kick maneuver, but the yeti monster brought his two axes together to block the attack. The force sent shockwaves through the area, and even blew away a good share of the smaller members of the pirate crew. Oboro felt the shockwaves inside the temple and looked back for a moment, hoping that his partner would be okay. Blizzarmon was extremely tough, though! They'd probably be fine. Oboro noticed that Tetsu had managed to grab onto him, which was good. He didn't want to be in here alone, after all! The pendant around his friend's neck seemed to be glowing and flailing around, and upon closer inspection his was, too. "We're so close!" he remarked. "Wonder if there are any scary traps, though..."

The shockwave nearly sent the boy more than tumbling. So this is the power clash between two perfect stages. It made sense now that he thought of it. Perfects should be strong, but the danger was too much for Tetsu's taste. Inside the temple, water and plant intersect. Earth and Water, now that he think of it. Earth is his and Water is definitely Oboro's. How... very terrifying it must be for the other boy.
"...Oboro... are you OK?" he asked, concern apparent in his voice.
Oboro's signal would leads to the deeper part of the ruin, where more and more water flowing... meanwhile, Tetsu's signal leads up to a really dark path of the room... It twist and turn, almost like something was wrong, just like his crest that still fighting between red and ominous green. He felt unpleasant, really unpleasant. "...Hey, Oboro, we should get yours first," he suggested. He's not ready to face whatever is there... but would Oboro ready to face his own demon? As far as puzzles goes, it's seem that his would be related to 'fell to the water if you took a wrong step'.

Oboro ran into the temple to find water. Water everywhere, with some plants and platforms. He froze up instantly, not sure what to do. Tetsu picked up on this immediately and asked if he was okay, but he couldn't find the words to respond. Instead, it felt like something was calling out to him, and it compelled him forward down the path with more water. He stepped forward as if he were in a trance, not regarding the fact that if he made a wrong step he'd be submerged. A symbol appeared on his chest, matching the one that had come up when they fought the corruption in the desert. It seemed he would be alright on his own, if Tetsu wanted to follow his own signal.

"...Alright," Tetsu muttered, looking at his friend who somehow seem to go to the direction of where his tag leads him. But this means he'll be facing his own trial himself. The moment that the boy walked in to the dark chamber, green flame closed his path. Golden chains ablaze with purple flames and earth become so dry that it reminded him of that temple. On the other end of the road is his crest, the one that he can use to gain more power with. He... was unsure. He somehow already frozen on spot.
"What's wrong? Why aren't you taking it?"
When he turned around, he saw his own self, looking so confident, so sure in here. Huh? Why is there two him when he's standing here?
"Duh, scared of the atmosphere aren't ya? Don't worry, just be brave. Remember what Dad told us? What you should fear isn't the darkness, but you should fear what lurks in it. When you understand that the darkness is just a blanket, then all you need to do... is to just peel it away~"
As if demonstrating his little unknown power, the other Tetsu grabbed the scene in front of him and pulled it away, leaving a clear, peaceful looking nature temple.
However, the dimness made the real Tetsu hesitate.
"Now now, what's wrong?"
...Should he wait Oboro to come here? Or should he proceed?

Oboro finally came to the end of the path, still in a trance. His eyes were glazed over, so it seemed he hadn't gathered what he was doing yet. He finally came to as he reached a giant wall, housing a strange symbol. Something about this symbol was familiar to Oboro, but he couldn't place it. He found himself mystified by it, as if it was deeply connected with him somehow. He brought his hand out to touch it, and a voice spoke to him from nowhere. "Warrior of Ardor...you have done well to make here. To have the passion and drive to face your fears means you are worthy of this Crest. Take it, and strengthen your bond with your partner." The whole room shook, and the wall in front of Oboro shrunk down immensely. When it was finished, all that remained was a palm-sized charm of the symbol. It flew through the air and inserted itself into Oboro's Tag, which began to glow with a bright purple light. Oboro smiled, but that smile quickly faded when he realized he'd have to make it back across the water to get back outside. He clutched onto his Tag and Crest nervously, but doing so seemed to calm him, putting him in the trance that had brought him across the path in the first place.

"What's wrong?" his copy asked him again. That was when Tetsu noticed: The room is devoid of negative looking darkness, but this guy in front of him feels funny. His other self... and that's when he curiously making a grabbing motion at... "it", for lack of better pronoun. The moment he does, he felt like he grasped something and pulled hard, but it was his greatest mistake yet.
The blasting flame took him off guard. The shrine engulfed by the flame, and soon, what lies in front of him is a demonic version of him.
"What's wrong I ask?"
Tetsu stepped back slowly in fear. Is this.. is this a trial or is this something else? Before long, he felt like he lost his footing. He almost would fell to a void if not suddenly for his demonic self to grab his wrist.
"Hehehe, what a clumsy guy... I'm not the one you should be afraid of you know...? Because I am your desire. You see, you just have to give in. You hate to see your friends hurt, right? You hate to be mocked by evildoers... but you know, everyone got inner demon, like how I am yours. That's part of [Growth], to accept what you are... To grow, you need to sometime sacrifice something... don't you agree? Those who haven't faced with hardship won't grow. That's why... accept me... maybe not now, maybe later... you can't reject me, because I am you."
With that, Tetsu gained his crest... but as paradoxical as it is, the crest was green, with touch of dull brown, like symbolizing arid and fertile land mixing together.

After a hazy bit of platforming back across the strange river, Oboro made it to the entrance of the temple. The crest ceased glowing, and the boy became aware of his surroundings again. Looking around, he noticed that Tetsu wasn't back yet, but assumed that he could potentially be outside already with Blizzarmon, so he ran out to check on the battle.
It didn't look good. CaptainHookmon had handily defeated Blizzarmon, causing the fusion to fail and leave Ikkakumon and Gryz passed out on the ground in front of him. Shocked, Oboro froze in place, unsure of what to do.

Tetsu ignored the image that happened beforehand. He did not want to remember any of it. For the first time in his life, he seriously felt scared at the prospect of something gone wrong. The black haired boy ran and ran, away from the shrine. His hand still clutching the tag that now hold his crest in it. The Crest that symbolizes 'Growth'. But to think that there are time where growth can lead him to be something like that version of him, Tetsu wanted to reject all of it. He don't want to, his instinct felt so downright disgusted at such possibility. Yet, his heart told him otherwise. It's a possibility. The boy shook his head to shoo away the image. Right now his focus is the light, the light that leads to the exit.
...But his heart quickly sunk to his stomach. He saw both Gryz and Ikkakumon sprawled on the ground, completely defeated.
"GRYZ!!"
The boy forgetting the fact that the enemy is in front of him ran toward his partner. The Gryzmon still kept his form which means he's not fully out yet, but... how, how to defeat this monster? Fear clutched the boy's heart, but his body refused to leave his partner.
