This MPC is based on Wish Upon a Star, which I'll be doing solo.
The time was shortly after their first evolution to Rookie level. Luke the Elecmon and Bellamy the Impmon had recently returned home from the digital world to Earth, accompanied by their new partner, Colin James.
It wasn't always the case for these digimon. Before recently, they had been two independent digimon residents of the digital world... that was until their untimely deaths. But now, Impy and Leky had been reconfigured into the digimon twins, Bellamy and Luke. And, it seemed, this time would not be the same as before.
The two digimon were sitting on the roof of the tall apartment block that Colin lived in. Thirty storeys high, they could see the lights of Tokyo turning on one by one as the sun set in the distance. And the sight was simply beautiful.
"Heh, reminds you of Terminus doesn't it?" Bellamy asked Luke, smiling at him.
"Yeah, just ten times bigger" Luke replied, chuckling. "Wow, I never thought the human world would be this big".
"Yyep" Bellamy grinned. As the seconds ticked by, this grin slowly faded. Bellamy glanced at the scarf that Luke wore, the change in his body stature, the more impish look in his eyes. They may have once been Impy and Leky, but it seemed things have now changed.
"So... we're twin brothers now, huh?" Bellamy asked the Elecmon. "Wonder what that means?"
Luke knew something of what that meant. It meant that they were now digimon irrevocably linked to each other. They had hatched from the same egg, been configured to similar data, and bonded to the same human partner. He could tell it in Bellamy too. He now had shaggy, soft purple fur all over his body, becoming more beast-like than he had been as an ordinary Impmon.
"It means a lot" he said, simply. Bellamy scoffed. Of course it was.
The Impmon and Elecmon sat on the ledge and watched the setting sun for a little while longer in silence. Before long, the bright neon wonder of Tokyo's nightlife was fully activated, and the sight was somewhat mesmerizing.
Memories and emotions were boiling high within both digimon, but, one would have to wait for the other to speak first. And to no surprise, Bellamy spoke first.
"Luke... I'm really sorry we couldn't be together at the end" he said, sadly. Luke sighed and nodded. He faulted Bellamy in no way for that turn of events. It was simply an act of murder of someone that was a part of Bellamy's past. Luke believed it. He could remember the Impmon's signs of genuine love toward him before it happened. However, at the very least, he could find some upper side to the words that Bellamy had just said.
"We weren't together at the end?" he asked, looking into his green eyes. "Bellamy, we were nuzzling each other at the end. We were so together".
"Yeah... we were" Bellamy answered, giving a deep breath of discomfort. "It's just... we died thinking we'd never see each other again. But we have. We're twins now, it's just... what has changed that we can't treat each other like we did then?"
This was the question that Luke had feared for the longest time. He had wondered it himself, why he no longer wanted to give his utmost devotion to Bellamy like he did back in their old time. Had something changed between them in their reconfirguration?
"Well..." Luke felt he had to say something rather than remain silent. "I mean... we're twin brother digimon now, Bellamy. What can we do further to strengthen our relationship?"
"I... don't know" Bellamy admitted, looking unhappily downward, his legs dangling hundreds of feet above the pavement below. "I admit... I wanna cuddle you like we used to do, and we still do that".
"Yeah, we do" Luke admitted with a smile. Each night they would hug each other and Colin beneath the blankets. It was a ritual of comfort for the three of them.
"But... before Dinohumon killed us..." Bellamy continued forth. "I... wanted to start somethin' with you, Luke. Somethin' real. I... really love you. And... since we got reconfigured, it kinda feels like... everythin's just fallen apart".
Luke stared at Bellamy for a moment, his jaw dropped. That was honestly the sweetest statement he had heard from the Impmon since they evolved to the Rookie level. The Elecmon felt no other option than to speak the truth back in return.
"I really love you too, Bellamy" he said. "And nothing will change that. Reconfiguration, all that, nothing will change the feelings I have for you".
"But... the fact remains, we can't exactly celebrate that love can we?" Bellamy asked, still looking unhappy. "You're my twin. That's all. There ain't gonna be a big ceremony after that".
"Oh Bellamy, we don't need to have a ceremony to secure the fact that we're a loving family" Luke advised, patting his arm.
Bellamy appreciated it, but, there was something more to this.
"When I met you, Luke, I was probably one of the worst digimon in the world" the Impmon declared. "And... you accepted me into your life with open arms. I'm just... scared that if I don't have someone to pull me back, I'll just revert to my old evil ways".
"Now, Bellamy." Luke said, the Elecmon looking fierce. Bellamy stared into his blue eyes. That expression... that was fierce. Even more fierce than the expression he tried to develop in the mirror when he was more immature. This compelled him to listen to what Luke had to say.
"You might be a virus attribute, but, I don't think this will make you evil, Bellamy" Luke said, gripping his paw firmly. "From my memories, you never wanted to do anything horrible... well... unprovoked".
Bellamy admitted that was true, he had wanted to tear open digimon that had wronged him as well as innocents. But never anyone else.
"From what I see, you've got two individuals stopping you from doing anything evil ever again" Luke continued. "You have our partner Colin. And... if I ever see you about to initiate something evil, I will stop you. I promise".
Bellamy stared at his brother. How could Luke promise something like that? Yet, Luke always surprised him immensely with this sort of thing.
There was silence as they watched the rest of the lights of Tokyo burn brightly. It was truly a magnificent sight. Such a beautiful civilization of humanity. But... there were last words that the twins had to exchange with each other.
"Luke..." Bellamy began. "I... don't think I've ever been more happy in life since the time I was with you. I mean... I loved you so much that we got reconfigured as twins. Does that... does that mean we can't ever feel those feelings again?"
Luke stared at his brother for a short while after this. Yes, Luke remembered the happy emotions he had as not only the best friend, but the romantic partner of the digimon formerly known as Impy. He had loved the Virus attribute's confidence in life, he had loved his outward affection, and, yet, that couldn't happen anymore. They were brothers now. And furthermore, partners to a human. How could they continue with what they had before?
"We'll... still have each other, Bellamy" he said, gripping his brother's paw. "There's more to us than raw affection. We still have a lot to offer the world and we'll do it as a team".
"...I see" Bellamy said, letting go of his paw. He stood up, sighing. Luke could sense that he was feeling very hurt about all this, that he was seeing this as a kind of rejection. He wished he wouldn't, but, he didn't know what to say. "I'll head inside now, gonna talk to Colin".
"Okay..." Luke said, remaining seated. By now, the sun had set. And stars were beginning to twinkle above them. Bellamy looked like he wanted to say more, but, the words simply wouldn't come out. He merely retreated back inside. For a while, Luke could only just barely hold back the tears as he knew what he had turned his back on. He knew the love that Impy and Leky had for each other back then, but, he knew that they were no longer Impy and Leky. They were Luke and Bellamy - twin brothers.
It was when Luke saw the falling star above that he wanted to make his wish. He hoped very much that it would come true. For his dear brother's sake.
"I wish Bellamy finds another digimon that would make him as happy as Leky did" he murmured to the night. Surely that would be the best thing that would happen to his brother? That he would meet a digimon that he could treat with affection as much as he used to with him? Well, that was about all that Luke could do tonight. He stood up and eventually walked back inside to his partner's apartment. Bellamy was still there. He made no signs that their conversation had taken place, but, he could tell from the new formality in his voice and actions that he was still hurting. Luke simply hoped his wish would come true eventually.
[Several weeks later]
As Luke watched Bellamy's motions in the night he had decided to ask Coronamon for a date, the Elecmon could hardly believe it. Indeed, he could tell. Yes, Bellamy had flirted with a lot of other digimon in the past few weeks, but, this time, it seemed to be returned.
It was almost too good to be true. They had befriended this older tamer called Marshal, and Bellamy had begun a little fling with his partner Coronamon. And to Luke's surprise, Bellamy seemed to become more and more enamoured with the fire lion digimon. Eventually, it was agreed for them to have a date. And so they had spent the night together afterward. Luke had been left alone with Colin and had acted as his guardian for the night. He could feel in his digicore that Bellamy had found a digimon he truly loved. And for this, Luke had smiled that night. His wish had been granted. And, from then on, he was filled with delight and pride whenever he saw Bellamy with Coronamon.
Luke's wish had been granted. His brother could feel genuine love again. And that, in the end, was probably all that Luke wanted.
