As they turned around, Colin glanced at K. "I can't say that I've seen something like this before, but, I have heard tales of things like this happening to others" he answered the Renamon.
As they returned to the chamber with the pillars and the book reading stand, both Luke and Bellamy stood at attention. Luke was rather subdued and remained silent, given that he had felt pretty bad about what had just happened. While he thought Bellamy's accusation of him lying to Colin felt a little unfair, well, they weren't untrue, so he hadn't objected to them.
Colin meanwhile had long forgiven his partner and was now simply just translating as he had before. And the story itself was the thing that was becoming more disturbing.
"Enhancing digimon? The hell...?" Bellamy repeated, frowning with disbelief. He was starting to dislike the author of this book rather a lot now. He then remembered the island they had visited with Yuu and Squire, where they had evolved to Champion for the first time. He then looked at his brother with a worried expression. "Luke... ya think this could be related to that place? Off Whitewater?" he asked the Fulminomon.
"Could be..." Luke answered, but it probably was no use going back there, it had been destroyed in its own self destruction sequence, and the digimon survivors would have probably lost their memories. He was willing to tell K the full story if she was interested.
The three of them gasped as the ground underneath shook again, but this time it seemed to be an opening to something. It seemed the further they read, other things would happen. Not quite willing to go back up yet, Colin turned the pages of the book to the final chapter, Luke still transcribing what he read.

"Hmm. It feels sort of strange not hearing about this before or something simular.
The renamon flashed a quick frown and ran a hand through her fur as she listened quietly to what was being read off. There was quite a bit of information in this book wasn't there? So much a story could tell them if they read it carefully...
Why did the baromon not want them down here? Did he not want them to find out about these enhanced digimon? These creatures that they had made or enhanced better left undisturbed? The renamon seemed hesitant when the door slowly opened but honestly if they had come this far what was to say they shouldn't at least see things through?
"This is unlike anything I've ever heard of; I didn't even know that digimon could be enhanced by humans past the relationships tamers have with their partners. This is somewhat worrying..."
She seemed to weigh her options and stared quietly at the staircase as the book was transcribed. She didn't really know what she should do but one thing was for certain.
Rushing ahead was a poor choice if the Chuumon was anything to go by

Last Chapter. As soon as Colin moved to the first page, the fourth and final pillar began to softly glow brightly, even if this time, the light was just white, almost as a lightbulb.
That also meant that it shone stronger than the other three, making the reader pretty... uncomfortable. At the same time, the grinding sound coming from below becoming even more obvious. It wasn't a risk for anyone, but the floor was beginning to slowly move as the chapter was read, making way towards the unknown depths.
The experiment had been an utter success, and now there was a living testament for this person's intellectual genius. Their creations would be kept safe inside the mountain, acting as both guardians and attractions to any visitor who shared their insatiable curiosity and desire to learn.
Their magnum opus, nothing more, and definitely nothing less. But it wouldn't just stop there; this was just the beginning, and there were many other amazing projects they had in mind. It was just a matter of time.
And, just like that, the path below was fully opened. Down below, amazingly enough, what the group could see at plain sight was a vast, green expanse, the blades of grass standing tall, yet idle in the wake of the second set of visitors they had gotten in a fair bit of time.
Speaking of which... the first visitor they had gotten was laying in the ground, motionless. Yup, the Pink Chuumon wasn't that far away from where they were. He was apparently... unconscious? But he seemed to be alive, at the very least.

Colin noted and was glad to see that K was as disturbed with this information as he and his partners were.
As Luke recited the words in front of him and Colin wrote them down, all three of them noticed the fourth pillar glow with bright light. And the ground below them seemed to activate even more. The experiments that were done had turned out to be a success, Luke read, and were kept in this mountain as guardians and attractions.
The author of the book spoke proudly of their enhancing of digimon, while Colin and his partners scowled as they wrote down what was written. And with that, before their eyes, as they finished the book, the path beyond had been opened.
"What the..." Bellamy asked, the Beelzemon's three eyes blinking with confusion. There was so much... life down here. How was that possible? Had they just opened a gate to another dimension? Or something different. Data could work in strange ways, was this one of them?
Luke meanwhile looked up and saw... the Chuumon! From earlier! He wasn't moving, but his data was still intact. If he had drowned as feared then he'd either be disintegrated or be in a digitama. He only seemed to be unconscious.
"We should get him out of here" Luke said to the others. "Also... what should we do with the translation?" he added, unsurely.
Colin pondered for a moment, then glanced back. "We should probably take it directly to Yuu back on Kongou Island" he said. "She's the leader of PROFIT, and she and Kyo are enforcers of the digital world, she should know what to do with it". Colin trusted Yuu, after all, it'd hardly be likely he'd still stick around in PROFIT if he didn't. "Would you be alright with that, K?" he consulted with the Renamon.
Luke meanwhile made careful entry to the opened path, making his way to the Chuumon. He would then pick him up, prepared to carry him up out of the cavern and back to the surface, where hopefully he wouldn't do anything stupid again. Yet... he glanced down at the little mouse digimon. Why had he rushed in so quickly? Did he know what was down here? Well, assuming nothing further would happen, Luke would return to the group.

The renamon shifted and watched the staircase quietly flicking her ears as colin read out the chapter. She'd look somewhat uncertain for a few moments as the book continued. The experimentation had been an utter success which only meant that whatever experiment... The renamon's eyes widened just a little bit and she'd move forward slowly towards the staircase.
She saw the pink Chuumon, but she didn't want to rush into the damn place; it could be extremely dangerous for someone like her to deal with but considering the companions that they had... well.
"If the experiment was a success, as it said. Do you think maybe the experiment is the thing causing these tremors? It could be some kind of digimon that's never been seen because of it."
The renamon followed into the area, looking awestruck at the vast expanse of green. The blades of grass standing tall but rather idle; was this place large enough to have a breeze? What kind of place was this? She looked around some more flicking her ears again and bringing her hand to rub her muzzle firmly. At colin's question she'd dip her head in a nod.
"Yeah that's... fine. I don't have a problem with it; I never figured this would be the case. I don't think we should leave just yet though, there's more here to be had if that translation is anything to go by."
She'd turn her head to look at them frowning slightly.
"I agree that we should get the chuumon out of here, but i feel like if we leave we might not be able to come back in. Think it's safe just leaving him by the entry?"
Her curiousity was getting the better of her and it was obvious the renamon wanted to go deeper into this mystery.

Upon closer inspection, it would be pretty clear that the place was huge. An almost never-ending expanse of green advanced in every direction, and besides its current occupants, there was pretty nothing that threatened the environments homogeneity. Except for one thing. At the northernmost side, almost hidden by the tall blades of grass, relatively big pillar —not unlike the ones that had lit the path, even though easily ten times its size— stood. If anyone drew closer to it, they would find an inscription engraved in one of its sides. An amazing adventure is on the horizon. Can you harness it? Or, maybe some help is required? That is something that can't be easily answered. One fair warning, though. Once it begins. It won't stop. As soon as that inscription was read, the seismic activity that was faintly felt on Northern Providence would... fall silent. Had the group solved the issue? Or had they actually unleashed something way, way worse?

Colin frowned at K's question. "Somehow I think that if this "experiment" was a success, and these tremors have been happening in response to it, that's all the more vital that we should try our best to contain it" he said. "We'd need help though, I doubt we can do it ourselves".
Still though, seeing such a verdant area underground, it was somewhat breathtaking. It looked so peaceful and pleasant. Yet... from what they had just read in the book, also seemed quite wrong. Especially considering the vast changes in the terrain that they had just witnessed. Was all this a kind of illusion? Colin couldn't discount that possibility.
K seemed to want to explore this place in full. But to this, Colin didn't like that idea. But, he was at least willing to compromise. "Well, as long as we don't touch anything, okay, guess we can have a look around" he relented. "But I swear if any of you touch some kind of switch that causes the apocalypse or something like that, well..." he couldn't actually think of any realistic response to that other than to say "...that... won't be good".
As to what to do with Chuumon? Well, he was small enough to carry, and Luke was still in his Mega form, so, he thought taking him with them wouldn't be too big of a deal. "Well, alright, we can take a brief look around, but, anything strange happens, we're going straight back out of here" he said.
After a while of exploring the underground plain, Colin and his partners eventually came across a giant pillar. They read the impressive words carefully. These words made Luke for one rather frightened.
"Guys... I think we should go back now" he said. "This looks like a warning... like something we can't control if we trigger it. We need to tell our superiors about it, sure, but... I don't like the feeling of this".
It didn't escape their notice that once they had reached the pillar, the seismic activity had stopped. Well then, what were they to do now?
"So... uh... we fine to head back to the surface now?" Colin asked, a little nervously.

"Euch... that doesn't sound good. I don't really think I'd be much use here currently. I don't really have.. anything that could help. I thought there'd be more in here that would be able to but I guess not? I'll have to trust your judgement on this."
K rubbed the back of her neck and gave a distinct nod however when Colin indicated they could look around but shouldn't touch anything. Given the nature of the place; so far any time that they had.. well it had a reaction with other things and they certainly didn't want to set anything off.
"I'll keep my hands to myself trust me."
The renamon didn't want to cause anything they didn't want to activate to well... activate. It would be bad considering how strange this place felt to them; how peaceful and calming it was. The renamon sighed and poked around with the others dipping her head in a nod when Luke spoke. She didn't really mind it being a short span of time in here; after all with how this place seemed so hyped up... it felt wrong that it was so calm.
The renamon's gut wrenched a little bit when they read over the inscription. K looked around after a few moments to note that the seismic activity seemed to of stopped. She'd turn her head to look at the others, frowning slightly.
"Yeah it's best if we head to the surface and deal with this later. But it does pose some interesting questions, ones we seem to already have the answer to."
The renamon scratched her head; Harness what exactly? She had to admit that she was beyond curious and wanted to see what this inscription was talking about. But she knew that she probably wasn't the best fighter and if this was Making Colin and his pair nervous too...? Well they should be careful.
"Won't lie, it has me curious."

Their ascent would be unimpeded; there was nothing else blocking the group's path, either way. Unless that had decided to stay, the group would find themselves on the surface.
And directly into Baromon's line of sight. The digimon would show the utmost relief at the appearance of the expeditionary group, even if would show a bit of a frown as soon as his gaze landed on Chuumon.
"You... returned." Yup, there was a good amount of disbelief in his voice, almost as if the group had returned from a suicide mission of sorts. "And the tremors have stopped. How did you do it?"
Yeah, asking that kinda question was probably not very professional to do, but given how surprised he was, it was probably warranted. Whether the group wanted to stay and chat for a bit or just, he'd open his robes, revealing two small trinkets. He took them and offered to the group.
"Please, accept them. As a small token of gratitude from my people."

As they made their way out of the cavern, it was good to see daylight once again. Bellamy made a noise of relief as the rocky tunnel gave way to the icy skies above.
"Whew, boy am I glad to be outta there" he said. And the first thing they saw ahead of them was Baromon, who seemed surprised to see them alive. He asked what they had done down there.
"It was... really strange" Colin admitted. "It was like... the caverns were alive. And down there, we found..." he hesitated before answering. "Something that really does need to be sealed off, yeah" he finished.
"I just hope the tremors don't happen again, it'll make Snowflake Village kinda hard to repair if they start again" Luke remarked. Then Baromon, to their surprise, gave them amulets.
"Oh, gosh, thanks" Colin said, accepting the gift. "We're happy you guys can live without the tremors now" he smiled.
After that, Colin turned to K. "Thanks for coming with us too, it was nice to meet you, K" Colin said to the Renamon "Are you fine to head out yourself? Or do you want a lift on our airship digimon?" he offered.
Well then, if there was nothing else for it, they supposed they'd head back home now. Of course Bellamy left one last thought for them. "If ya ever need our help again, just give PROFIT a call and we'll be here" he promised.

K didn't really have much more to say about this place, she was intensely curious about what secrets this place could hold what else could of happened here and why the depths were like this. Eventually once they made it to the surface the renamon squinted towards teh sky.
"It was a bit stuffy down there wasn't it?"
The renamon sighed and turned to look towards the Baromon; she'd rub her muzzle slightly and shrug slowly. She wasn't sure how they really had done it.
"Some well placed interactions and just... being there seemed to be enough. Those walls didn't make much sense to me; but they were there for a reason."
The renamon's brows rose a little bit however when the Baromon offered two small trinkets. She'd glance at Colin who accepted the gift and she'd of course accept hers. Looking it over for a few moments before gingerly putting it on. She didn't really have a place to store it immediately.
"Of course, it was a pleasure meeting the three of you. If you ever get the chance you should stop by my Inn. It's a good ways from here. And no thank you! I've got a lot to think about and the scenery from here is very nice."
The renamon gave the three a smile and turned to give the baromon a small bow.
"I might not see you again, but if you do need help I'll extend my offer as well. It'll be nice to get out and about once in a while."
The renamon with that would turn and start to make her way back home; figuring that she had some places on the way that she could stop by on the way there...

For now, and at least in the foreseeable future, everything was okay. Those two strangers had managed to calm whatever was bothering the mountain, and that meant that, for now, everything was going to be okay.
How much would that tense peace last? When would be the next time a group of heroes would be needed. For now, this Baromon was due to a much-needed rest. It was a pity that the dangers that lurked inside the Great City didn't rest, nor wanted to. Being unleashed felt liberating. Yet, yet... it wasn't time.
There was no hurry. Everything would happen in due time. Well, this is the end of this small event. Now, for rewards.
Everyone will get 20000 bits and a minor artifact. —Key to the City: A small, globe-like trinket. Can be commanded to shed bright or dim light in a radius of 10/20/30/40/50 meters (Rookie/Champion/Ultimate/Mega/Super Mega) or in a concentrated ray of up to a maximum distance of 100/150/200/250/300 meters.
Hope you enjoyed it ^^ [Exit]
