It had been a long night in the Network Plains for the twin digimon Luke the Elecmon and Bellamy the Impmon. Both of them had been grieving a recent event. They had suffered emotional wounds so great that it would take a day with only each other, without their loving human partner to heal. They had talked about much, they had cried and raged and in the end, come to accept what had happened to them.
But somehow, the two of them sleeping with each other on the newly restored grassy plains outside Terminus City, it had healed a little more than they thought possible. After all, they had been part of the restoration effort. Had they not done so, they would have risked stepping on landmines or forced to sleep on hard scorched earth. Instead they slept in a field of grass and flowers that resembled dandelions. Such a wonderful setting for Luke and Bellamy, now that they had truly accepted each other as not only twin brothers, but best friends.
The morning sun shone on them soon after dawn. Sleeping under the stars, it made their fur too warm to remain sleeping without shelter. Indeed, both of their fur had changed somewhat these past few months. Luke now had Bellamy's purple fur on his back where it was once blue. And Bellamy had Luke's white fur on his belly. The yellow smiling face was still there though, grinning its eternal grin. A side effect of their biomerge with Colin.
They had a quick breakfast with the small amount of food they brought with them, then stood up, looking around the plains. They were also wearing their standard travelling gear, featuring leather pauldrons on Bellamy's left and Luke's right shoulder, each displaying their crests. Bellamy's was the Crest of Tenacity, a red heart over a shining four pointed star. And Luke's was the Crest of Compassion, a blue heart surrounded by a crescent moon. The pauldrons were held in place by leather straps attached to waistbelts.
As for Colin, he was back in Terminus City, sleeping in a hotel room with his elder sister Sophie. They trusted he would be fine with them away.
And they had to be away, because they were considering a very drastic action - to retire. That they had lost one of their friends in a hopeless battle, they considered cashing in with what they had and simply withdrawing from the goings on of the digital world. But it was a decision that would be very hard to make.
"So... what do we do now, Aniki?" Bellamy asked Luke. The Elecmon already had a plan in mind from their talk earlier.
"I think we should find our friends and talk to them, Bellamy" Luke said, firmly. "We're still a part of their lives, so, if we intend to retire for real, we should ask what their opinions on that would be".
"Yeah... that's true" Bellamy agreed, nodding. He began to walk back to Terminus, Luke at his side. "Who do we talk to first though?"
They continued to walk, pondering which friend they may speak to about their thoughts.

The Network Plains... it was incredible how this place had changed in only a few months. Once a wartorn wasteland of weaponry and trash, it had returned to its former glory as a sanctuary of flora. Cion had not been reincarnated into this life, so she was not sure what actually had happened that had caused all of this destruction, but it ultimately did not matter. She was simply glad that they had been part in helping out, even if her and Owen's contribution had been small. Hopefully, as a member of P.R.O.F.I.T., she could prevent those things from happening again by taking out the right people at the right time. An early bird as always, the vulpine digimon had been alone in Terminus, her family still busy with deciding on what to do from now on. Would they live together, move into another house or even another city, and what about Logan's future? Those were really important questions, and she was willing to contribute in whatever way possible. She already did so with money and being a parental figure to the Offmon, but she felt like that was not enough. Things simply still had to become clear for her, but she hoped that... that she would not have to be alone. It was still early in the morning, the sun slowly rising and tinting everything in a cozy orange. The lush grass, the colorful flowers and strong trees, they all existed in harmony with the beautiful sunrise. Amongst it all was a digimon completely covered in futuristic, thin power armor, and a futuristic anti-material rifle on her back. The huntress slowly got used to remaining in her more powerful forms, currently Mega, and no longer felt stamina depleting rapidly. All the time spending in Rookie had made her unaccustomed to them, and if she was going to be a warrior for P.R.O.F.I.T., that was ill an attribute she could afford. Behind her helmet and armor, cloaked by a mantle of blue data stream that ran down her back and around her right leg like the dress she wore on Colin's birthday party, she remained perfectly silent. Only her golden, synthetic eyes could be seen through her visor, and her green scarf around her neck was as always a clear giveaway. The armored digimon walked slowly, savoring the atmosphere as to ease her spirit. Besides, there was no appointment that required her to rush today. Reaching the end of a small cliff, more of a hill to be honest, she sat down cross-ledged and took in many, deep breaths. Her eyes often swayed, taking in scenery, be it far or near. Cion beheld that things she had accomplished and contemplated what she had done in her past lives. Many things were imperfect, but she had contributed to the growth of civilization one way or another. Lands had changed, names had changed, people had changed, but ultimately, she had been a good small part of something big. This form of meditation made her realize what she truly wanted, allowing her mind and soul to ease despite the anguish she at times still felt. Rather suddenly conjuring her ocarina, the lower part of her helmet removed itself a little from her lips, allowing her to put it against them. Her mind entering a state of peace, she would simply let her heart decide what kind of melody she would fill this beautiful place with. Her powers to manipulate space had grown expontentially, and she utilized those rather creatively. Able to play many instruments at once through her will alone, her ability to alter the sounds of instruments had become perfect as well. That was why, despite the few notes an ocarina offered, she could actually play far more, even at once. It and her fingers glew gently as she let her spirit drift into the caress of serenity

As they walked, Luke and Bellamy began to hear something familiar to them. Beautiful music being played through an Ocarina. "Is that... Cion?" Luke asked, recognizing the instrument. His sensitive ears picked up it was the same noise that they had heard when learning to swim and also at Colin and Sophie's birthday party.
"Might be" Bellamy said. Well, that was at least an answer to their first question. They hadn't talked with Cion much since she had joined PROFIT. Maybe now would be a good time to catch up?
They followed the origin of the music, feeling their digicores grow slightly calmer and less troubled as they came closer. Eventually, they found the digimon that was playing. And there... they saw a digimon that kind of looked like their Arnamon friend, but was very different to what they pictured. The digimon seemed to be wearing a very impressive futuristic bodysuit, her face mostly obscured by a helmet. But there was no mistaking that crystal ocarina. This was Cion, in either her Perfect or Mega form.
"Cion, is that you?" Luke asked, waving as he approached. Assuming it was, he seemed very impressed. "That's a wonderful song. I see you get better every time you evolve" he chuckled.
Bellamy wished that Luke could play music some more. Lately he seemed to be so busy with everything else that he simply didn't have time. But that was thoughts for another day. So instead, the Impmon assumed his normal grin, casual pose and asked "How are you goin', Cion?", his tail swishing gently.

Just as she played the final note of her little melancholic song, Cion heard an all too familiar voice that slightly startled her. The vulpine digimon had not been expecting anyone else, much less the twins that should be busy living in luxury on board Daedalus. As she turned to face them, her eyes widened in surprise when she saw Luke and Bellamy, all by themselves in their Rookie-form. What could they possibly doing here all alone, and what was the reason for approaching her. "Urgh... stop it. Maybe they just felt like it." She thought to herself, a bit aggravated about herself that she had become so calculating.
"Yes, it's..." She spoke, immediately stopping. Her voice, partially synthetic and resembling that of a middle-aged, aristocratic, somewhat cold woman of class, probably did not suit the environment and the friendly banter up ahead. Her entire being glowing white, both her armor and weaponry disappeared as she rapidly reverted back to her famous Arnamon-form. No longer towering the others, she happily waved back at them with the vigor everyone knew recognized her with. "Yes it's me! Hi Luke, hi Bellamy. Nice to meet you here." She exclaimed, happy to see some of her closest friends here.
Blushing a little at Luke's compliments, she found herself giggling like the young teenage digimon girl she was. "Oh you... thank you." She made his appreciation clear, calming down again so that they could continue to chat properly. Immediately in front of the Elecmon and Impmon, her gaze often switched between them, almost as if she was a bit cligny. After all, they were friends, and she wouldn't let those slip away as well, now would she?
In the gentle breeze, similar to Bellamy's swishing tail, the white pelt around her neck as well as her tail waved back and forth, almost as if it was dancing in the free. Reaching out a hand for them to shake for a proper greeting, her next answer would be delivered with her typical warm smile. "Oh, I manage somehow I suppose. What about you two?" She asked in return, hoping that everything was okay and that they were simply enjoying a day off together. Coming to think about it... they were kind of cute together ever since they had matured a little.

Luke and Bellamy were a little startled by Cion's synthetic voice, but showed no signs of being so. They hadn't imagined that sort of voice from the friend they knew, but, of course a digimon's voice would get deeper as they evolved.
They were glad when she de-digivolved to Arnamon though, it was much more pleasant talking with a familiar face. Luke chuckled at her demeanor, it had been the first time he had laughed since yesterday. Bellamy smiled as well.
They shook her paw with theirs. Cion then asked how they were going in return, indicating she was managing. This made their smiles fade a little. They supposed that since she asked, it would be best not to lie to her.
"Well..." Luke began, his ears drooping down with melancholy. "We... lost a friend yesterday".
Bellamy rubbed his back gently in a caring gesture. "Ryu" the Impmon explained. "I dunno if you met him, but... he's gone now". He wished there had been a better way of saying this, but, Cion was always an honest digimon. The brothers felt that being direct with her would be for the best.
"We were out here for the night" Luke continued. "We didn't want Colin to see us like this, so... that's why we're here" he shrugged. They awaited to hear what the Arnamon would say.

Well, if anything, Cion was glad that she could put a smile on Luke Bellamy due to her attitude. It had truly been a good decision to return to a weak form as to interact more personally with her friends, had it not been? She was sure to remember that for later, until others got used to her more powerful states. Yet, since the twins decided to stay Rookie, it would be a bit weird if she did not adapt to that today. They knew the Arnamon much more than the CyberSagitamon Huntress Mode, so in hindsight, she was glad that she had ceased her getting used to her higher forms for now.
Glad that they accepted her invitation to shake their paws, she noticed a lot of strength in their grip. They had truly gotten brawny, didn't they? She wondered a little how they had gotten so strong, but that was not so important at the moment she figured. Maybe another time, she'd ask them. And then... everything turned dark and bleak. Cion saw how their bodies shifted to express grief and anguish, and it affected her to the core. Her body shifted the same, worrying about her dear friends.
"Oh no..." She spoke quietly as she heard the terrible news from Luke and Bellamy. "I... don't know a Ryu, but... oh dear." She said, stepping very close to the two and beholding Bellamy caressing Luke's back. She noted that there seemed to be much more genuine affection and care between them, maybe due to the pain that currently afflicted their souls. Still, it was good to see that they truly took care of each other, and that they didn't have to face their pain alone. ...She wished she hadn't been... fully alone back that night.
"I see..." She spoke quietly, her golden eyes often shifting between the eyes of the twins. Weakly pointing at the small cliff she had just sat on, a bit of uncertainty crossed her expression of compassion. "Do you want to sit... and talk? I... don't have anything with me, but... I can offer open ears and an open heart... and affection and care... if you want. If not, I'm open for anything... if you want." She offered, uncertain about what the best course of action was now. Just like with losing the Owen she knew, she simply did not know what to do, and could only offer what she always gave to those who wanted it; her unyielding warmth.

The twins were glad of Cion's kind words. It made them feel somewhat lucky that they had met her first, so that her gentle words could tell them that they still had friends other than their partner and family that cared for them.
"That's alright, Ryouta and Ryu didn't make themselves known that much" Luke told her. She then offered to sit and talk. Both Impmon and Elecmon nodded, agreeing that was a nice idea.
They noticed that Cion seemed to be a little troubled about something as well. Not definite or anything, but, if they sat down to talk, they'd hope to help ease her troubles as thanks for her easing theirs. They soon walked up the small cliff and sat down, cross-legged on the damp grass.
"I mean... I don't think he's lost forever" Bellamy began. "Ryu's a digimon after all... and even if he was lost at sea and we didn't see his egg... surely he'll come back one day?" he asked. "I mean... I didn't see him get... absorbed".
He hated using that word. To not only consume the data of another digimon but to deny them the right to start again as a new digimon, To utterly destroy them forever. Bellamy had come to despise that idea, knowing so many other virus attribute digimon did that and relished in it. Bellamy didn't know why he as a Virus digimon didn't turn out like that. Perhaps it was down to the guidance of Luke and Colin?
But he shook those thoughts from his mind. "But... still... I don't know what I'd do if he comes back and forgets us" he continued. It was Luke's turn to pat his brother's back.
"Then we'll just have to tell him what he forgot" the more optimistic of the two said. He then looked at Cion. "Bellamy really looked up to Ryu as a mentor, and, he evolved to Super Mega for the first time yesterday" he explained. It seemed Bellamy felt like he had ultimately failed and let Ryu down when it counted the most.

Despite being glad that Bellamy and Luke took her invitation to simply sit down and talk, she was not sure where to even sit. The Impmon and the Elecmon clearly needed each other's presence, which was why she did not want to get between them, but she also did not want to choose one over the other. Eventually seeing them sit down cross-legged which surprised her a little bit, she sat down on her lower legs just behind them, her head and neck tilted ever so slightly forward. It was not very comfortable, but it seemed the best solution for the two of them.
Listening to Bellamy, the Arnamon, trying to force herself to be calm for the sake of the twins, often nodded as to support the Impmon's perspective of things. "Certainly. I unfortunately can't tell you when, but the Village of Beginnings is your best bet. Maybe ask the Elecmon there about recent eggs reincarnating, hmm? Also, what I have learned from my previous life, even an absorbed digimon is not totally lost. Destroy the new host of their data, and it's released." She spoke soothingly, hoping it was honest balm to their souls. She was of course not sure if the same rules applied to this server, but... she at least hoped so. Then again, Ryu was likely just destroyed.
Then next words of Bellamy made her gasped almost inaudibly. She knew the fear and pain of what the Impmon dreaded, and again she found herself at a loss of answer. She did not know how to deal with the idea of someone forgetting you, much less those you used to care deeply about, and probably still do. The Arnamon had merely been escaping and reaching, but a solution and peace of mind were beyond her. She let out a quiet sigh, frowning a little. "I... I wish I had an answer to that." She spoke sincerely and with shame, saddened that she was incapable of helping more.
Her gaze shifting to Luke, the mood lightened ever so slightly thanks to his optimism. At the very least, they could tell Ryu about the memories, if nothing else. "There's also a chance he might remember bits and pieces. I and Owen died natural deaths since our encounter for example, and eventually... well..." She stopped, unpleasant thoughts creeping back into her mind. It was difficult to force away what she truly felt and thought back into the deepest abyss of her subconsciousness, especially in this emotionally strenuous moment with the twins.
Clearing her throat, the took in a deep breath through her nose and eventually found a way to express herself. "Such power and mastery of spirit and body... I know that feeling all too well from my past. As I tried to say before, while you won't remember every detail no matter which way you cease, there's always a certain chance that you remember... important parts. Maybe just facts and not feelings... but..." The Arnamon paused again, her eyes shifting to the blue horizon past Luke and Bellamy. "Better something than nothing at all... right?" She wondered what her two friends thought about that. When was too little worse than naught?

Luke and Bellamy noticed that Cion sat behind them. This made them a little uncomfortable, how were they meant to talk as friends in this arrangement?
"Hey, Cion, you can sit between us if you like" Luke said, smiling. Honestly, even if they were twins, they could do being apart for a little while. "Heh, we're not inseparable or anything. If that was the case Bellamy wouldn't have much fun with Coronamon".
"Oh, you never know, I'd be okay with lettin' you watch" Bellamy retorted. The brothers snickered with mirth. It was good to laugh at a time like this. Wait, did Cion even know that Bellamy had a boyfriend? They'd be eager to tell her that if that was the case.
They listened to Cion's advice. Bellamy's eyes widened with realization. "Of course, we should go there to ask" he said. Luke turned to him and looked hesitant.
"But even if he says Ryu isn't there, we shouldn't lose hope" the Elecmon advised. "Digieggs appear all over the world after all".
Bellamy nodded with understanding. He appreciated Cion's words about digimon living even after being absorbed. All that would be needed would be to kill the digimon that absorbed them. "If that's the case... it'd be my honor to do that" he said, clenching his fists. If Ryu had been absorbed, he would like nothing better than to utterly destroy the digimon that did so.
Bellamy's fears of being forgotten by Ryu made Cion gasp. That made the Impmon regret his words, perhaps that was too raw a fear to be spoken. "Sorry..." he said, not thinking any other words could help unless he knew what was troubling her, other than "It's okay, the thought counts" he forced a smile.
But Cion's next words were very helpful, that perhaps Ryu might remember bits and pieces. Like Owen did. But... somehow Cion's demeanor changed after mentioning Owen. The twins looked at each other with confusion. Wasn't Cion at least friends with Owen? How could saying his name make her unhappy?
However, they said nothing for the moment as Cion spoke healing words to them. Words that they understood. After all, Luke and Bellamy had once been independent digimon called Leky and Impy that had loved each other. And in their reincarnation, they had been reborn as twin brothers, hatched from the same egg. While they remembered their past, not all feelings had come back the same. Affection for one, but, that was alright with them. It had come to be something that they could accept.
"Yeah... we hope that Ryu remembers, like we did" Bellamy said. "Luke and I remember our last incarnation... the kind of relationship we had, the things we went through, how it ended..." he sighed as latent disappointment rushed to his mind for a moment, then he quickly replaced that with thinking of Coronamon, and his son Finn. "But, we found a way to cope" he finished.
"Cion..." Luke said, gently. "Did... something happen? About Owen, I mean" Even if they were grieving a friend, that didn't close off their empathy for their other friends feeling bad.

To her surprise yet delight, there was a pleasant moment of amicability occurring between them. Against what Cion had thought, they were more than happy for her to sit between them and serve as their friend and open heart. She had not meant ill will with her previous act, and had simply not wanted to get between them. But if this was their wish, expressing it in a jocular manner as always, she was more than happy to oblige. "Thankies. And enjoy the fun with Coronamon, Luke." She spoke with a toothy smile, comfortably sitting with crossed legs between them, giving both of them a gentle pet on their shoulder as a sign of amity.
She did not know Coronamon, but hardly did it matter at the moment. As long as the Impmon and the Elecmon managed to find happiness in something, then things were fine even without her full understanding. That topic aside, the vulpine digimon once again found herself nodding often at the idea that Ryu could be literally anywhere in the digital world, which increased the chances of him reincarnating somewhere at all. "Indeed. And with Daedalus, I'm sure that searching will be a piece of cake." She suggested further, confident that a digimon like it had great scanners.
"I'd me more than glad to help." She spoke with her own expression of determination, composure and a faint smile. Without a doubt, any digimon like that deserved destruction without mercy. Lately, considering in what state the digital world still was, she had started wondering if this was too merciful as well. Allowing fiends to be reborn, maybe that was a mistake. Perhaps taking away their existence was the only righteous punishment, and the only way to finally rid the world off the taint of savagery.
Cion too forced a smile, regretting that she did not have the proper words to comfort her friend. But drowning in her own sorrow ould not help Luke and Bellamy, which was why she quickly calmed down, waiting for any chance to brighten them up. And that chance she had quickly seized by telling them of the small chances that Ryu might remember his past one way or the other. It wouldn't be everything, maybe even not much, but at least... it would be something at all. Briefly lost in her thoughts, she had not made notice of their looks of confusion.
Glad that her words appeared to ease their spirits, she listened carefully as they responded to what she said about memories possibly returning. "Oh, you two are ancient digimons as well? Funny coincidence." She quipped, hoping that would further cheer them up. Eventually however, she found herself simply nodding in agreement to what the Impmon had to say. "Yes... coping with the memories is not easy." She openly admitted, her arms now resting on her lap. It... appeared her impression of everything was true after all... nothing remained forever.
Her ears twitched when she heard her name, her head turning towards Luke. An odd question echoed throughout her mind, and she was not sure how to even answer that. "Not really. Everything's pretty much the same as before. Just that he has a little cutiepie now and a hun somewhere I have not met yet. Why ya ask?" She replied in the way she believed was best, only briefly wondering how they had even gotten to this shift in topic. Was Luke perhaps trying to indirectly ask something about Ryu? If yes... she was not quite sure what he might refer to.

Bellamy grinned and shook his head as Cion sat between them. "Ah, no no, I'm the one that's got Coronamon as my boyfriend. Luke here's got a crush on Gryz the Bearmon".
"S-shut up!" Luke said, immediately looking embarrassed and shy. "Well... yeah, it's true, but, I don't know how I'd be able to approach him" he admitted. On the whole, both twins were happy to have something to distract them from the trauma of the previous day.
"Yeah, that's true" Luke agreed with Cion. "Daedalus's sensors are even stronger now that he's evolved to mega. Maybe he'll be able to find him?" Every little bit of hope helped.
Then Cion asked if they were ancient digimons as well. "Well... I wouldn't say "Ancient", but yeah, we remember at least our last incarnation" Bellamy clarified. "I did things I regret back then, but, it only made me do the right thing this time around".
"Yeah..." Luke agreed, looking over at Bellamy. "Honestly I never knew how much you regretted things that happened in our previous life until we biomerged. Now that I know... well, I'm glad that you're the way you are now too".
When Luke asked his question, Bellamy had looked awkward, wondering what his brother was asking something like that for. Cion then replied that Owen had a cutiepie and a hun somewhere now.
"Owen's got a kid too, huh?" Bellamy asked, grinning. "Heh heh, I do too, although he's usually with Coronamon. I still get to look after him sometimes though. It's kinda hard bein' a parent and a partner, ya gotta look after so much more."
As for why Luke had asked the question, Luke replied carefully. "Well, it's just that... both you and Owen have been reconfigured like we have, right?" Luke said. "You said that you and Owen had died natural deaths and eventually... then you broke off, so, I was just curious if something was the matter".
Luke had been waiting for her to finish that sentence in case there was something important in her own experience she had to share, but seemed uncomfortable over something.
And they supposed it was true what Cion said that it was better to remember something than nothing. "Of course, that's right" Luke said, smiling. Bellamy agreed as well.
"So, Cion, are you fully signed up with PROFIT yet?" the Impmon changed the subject in case their current one was taking too much of a toll.

Cion remained quiet as she sat between Luke and Bellamy, listening to their tales about their special someones. It seemed she had gotten something mixed up somewhere, but that hardly mattered. The joy they experienced was all that was important at the moment, as it appeared to be balm to their anguished souls. That and the idea that Daedalus might be of help in finding Ryu seemed to do the trick in bringing peace to their minds, even if it was only for a short moment. The realization that life continued was valuable in itself, even if admittedly she had problems accepting that, too.
Nodding, the Arnamon made notice of how they spoke about their past lives, especially when it came to Bellamy. There was a lot of regret he expressed, although what about the vulpine digimon did not know. Perhaps some words were better left unspoken, and it was not a good time to dig deeper anyway. Giving Luke a simple nudge, she gently smiled at him before turning to show the same warmth to the Impmon.
"Indeed, you are just fine. I too know regret, but... I at least realized that it mustn't fully control you. Don't forget it, let it fuel you to do good. And... as I see it, you're doing just fine, alone and together with Luke and Colin." She expressed her liking for Bellamy, hoping that it would cheer him up again. She understood him, even if they did not know about each other's origins. Coping with the past, especially if it was still affecting the present, was an obstacle that required to be overcome unlike any other. There usually is no enemy, no morality and ethics... just you yourself and your decisions; nothing else, and at times even nobody else.
After having told them about her bits and pieces of her personal life, Cion was both surprised and delighted to her that her impish friend had a kid of his own as well, even if he rarely got to see him due to taking care of Colin. "Oh, that's wonderful news! Do you think he or she will join the family business once he or she grows up? With Coronamo even? I'm sure Mega-Daedalus got room for y'all, not?" She found herself accidentally raving about business that probably should have been none of her concern. Then again, she was someone who liked to see people happy together.
Tilting her head to Luke, her brief moment of bliss faded slowly as composure returned to the silver digimon. "I suppose we have been, yes. And... well..." He found herself a little at a loss of words, taking a couple of moments to think about them. "As I said, digimons might return with broken memories. He did. He knows details about key events like I do, but... how to put it... it's just that, nothing more. No nostalgia, no regret, no joy. Not apathy either, just... casualness... as if the bond to them had disappeared during re-configuration." She tried to explain, hoping that it was sufficient enough for both of them to understand.
Clearing her throat, a silent sigh escaped her muzzle as gave her nose a little scratch. Well, that had gotten downhill for them, not? Now how to end that little bit of anguish on a fine note so that they could focus on recovering instead of feeling worse due to having to take care of her as well? Her eyes followed the movement of the clouds, until suddenly something came to her mind. "But that's also how little Logan came to be when he encountered his hun, having become a traveling adventurer 'n all. And what a surprise it was after having not seen him for months, hehe..." She forced a little laughter as she thought about... that night.
Luke and Bellamy seemed to agree with her idea that it was probably better to remember than to have forgotten, even if it the memories could be painful. After all, they still made each digimon who they were, and bestowed upon them perspective and wisdom that digimons without a past could not fathom. This very idea seemed to make the twins smile, which was why the Arnamon smiled as well.
The next question lead to a happier topic, one that made Cion feel truly happy. "Yeah, though it's been far more paperwork after signing the contract than expected. Memorizing the guidelines, national laws for each state and such stuff... took some days. But I'll report in soon and hand everything over. Then.... well... I was wondering if I could get into business by joining you and Colin for a while. You are both experienced and dear friends to me, I'm sure I can help out just fine... and I would not mind paying a rent for Daedalus." She told them, somewhat sheepishly beating around the bush every now and then. She already owed them so much, so perhaps a pseudo-internship where she could assist them would do the trick? To her, it seemed to be a win-win situation.

Bellamy leaned back a little, an expression of bliss on his face. "Heh, yeah. I guess if the path I walked led to havin' a partner that cares about me as much as Colin, as well as meetin' Coronamon, and having a brother as awesome as Luke, well, guess I'd be happy to walk it again" he admitted. He just wished he hadn't thrown so many fireballs along the way.
The Impmon was even more happy to talk about Finn. "Heheh, yeah, I think he will. He looks up to the both of us and even wants to follow us on future missions, but, the kid's just a rookie, I can't let him get in danger like that".
"But he could watch though?" Luke mentioned. "Daedalus is Mega, he could keep Finn protected while we do the heavy stuff, right?"
"Hmm, ya got a point there" Bellamy agreed, thinking that Finn would learn much from watching his dads in combat, safe and secure behind Daedalus's deflector shields. Maybe that could be something that could be arranged in the future?
Already they were feeling better about the Ryu situation. Neither of them believed now that Ryu was truly dead, and thinking about their family really brought their moods up.
Then, Luke and Bellamy listened to what was troubling Cion. The twins were rendered silent when they realized what was happening. That Owen and Cion once had a bond, but, now, it seemed to no longer be there. The brothers exchanged looks of sympathy at this, then a silent agreement was made of who would speak of their own experiences first.
"Call this a crazy coincidence, Cion..." Luke began. "But... that sounds like something that Bellamy and I went through when we were reconfigured".
"Yeah..." Bellamy continued. "In our previous lives... we loved each other. So much, we'd risk our lives to save the other, we wanted to spend our lives together. We... tried so hard to make it happen, but..." the Impmon broke off, too upset to continue.
"It all changed when we died" Luke finished. "We came back as twins, and furthermore... we were partners to a human. It was our duty to look after him, so, we couldn't... have the same life that we had before" he looked over at his brother. "We both took it pretty hard at the time when we figured out each others' feelings, but... we at least cope".
"Oh for cryin' out loud, Luke, it's more than just "coping"" Bellamy corrected him. "Yeah we're brothers, yeah, we can't do what we did before, but, we still support each other as family. I mean you support me, Coronamon and Finn and I support you and whoever I manage to hook ya up with".
"Bellamy, stop, please" Luke asked his brother, hoping Cion wasn't too harshly affected by his lack of tact.
They then listened to Cion's explanation about her signing up with PROFIT. "Well, we'd be delighted to have you on board" Bellamy told her, gladly. "There'd be so much we could achieve. I heard stuff about ya, how you're a great supporter in combat. Luke and I are pretty much mostly attacker digimon, we'd make an awesome team" he mused.
"Yeah, if we get assigned a mission for PROFIT, we'd be delighted to do it together" Luke added with enthusiasm. He waved a paw at Cion's notion of paying rent. "Aw, don't worry about that. If you're in PROFIT you can ride for free, at least that's what Colin says" the Elecmon assured her.
"Yeah, Colin's virtually the chief of PROFIT's aerial operations, he ain't gonna make you pay a cent if it's PROFIT business" Bellamy added.

Cion laughed briefly, even if it was hushed. At first having feared that she was too obtrusive, she realized that she had actually hit the nail on the head this time. Bellamy expressed peace with himself and his current life, family and friends. Not only that, but his beloved and their kid actually intended to join them in their P.R.O.F.I.T. business, although Finn was still too weak to fight. However, Luke put forth the excellent point that the youngling could remain inside Daedalus to be kept save and observe everything through the airborne digimon's sensors. "Excellent." Was all the Arnamon commented, happy that their big family was so tightly nit together.
Then however, things changed in a way that the vulpine digimon did not like. They were talking about the perceived ephemerality of bonds, especially in regards to her and Owen. She honestly did not want to trouble her friends with her personal matters, especially when they were grieving themselves. It had never been her intention to push their interaction this way, having carefully chosen words as to not dismay them, but their questions had ultimately lead to this situation regardless. Frowning a little, mostly at her own ineptitude, her gaze sway to the grass beneath as her ears peaked, listening to what the cherished twins had to say.
They... had a similar experience to her? Her eyes widened a little, curiosity appearing hidden beneath somberness. Their story appeared similar to her own, although there were key differences. Owen and Cion were not twins, nor originally responsible for someone else. The only thing they... Owen didn't have, was feelings for her. There was a little fight between the two of them, almost as if old wounds had resurfaced. Blame tainted her face, cursing the moments she started talking about herself.
Regardless, they still supported each other as family, even if things were at times difficult between them. "How did you overcome this part of your pasts?" She asked, not wishing to make any comments about their decision to 'cope'. Funnily enough, she saw herself more in Luke, hesitant and shy about the reality of things, while Bellamy tried to remain optimistic with a bit of denial mixed into it. Yet they had remained together, in good times and bad times, and it seemed they were happy more often than not. Though then again, that was another key difference. Unlike her and Owen, they were together often.
At least the topic after that was filled with more cheer and positive reassurance. If her personal life was still full of struggle, she could at least turn to the business-side of things. "Awesome!" She replied to the Impmon as she raised her head again, her smile winning and warm. Perhaps some time together with three of her dearest friends was exactly what she needed. "And yes, it's true. My attacks are not that impactful, but with me it's like two of you would fight the enemy at the same time." Cion spoke with a hint of pride in her voice. Perhaps later, this weakness of dependence would leave her system as well, allowing her to once again be a fighter of her own.
Thankfully, Luke approved of the idea of joining forces as well, leaving her with a fair amount of relief. Shrugging, she for once simply accepted what the Elecmon had to say. "Hey, if Colin insists, I won't say a thing." She assured them, clearly tired of always being shy when it came to receiving something. She'd find a way to make it up to the three of them, one way or another. Maybe it would be in combat one day.
A brief chuckle escaped her lips, clearly having found happiness in her new purpose as a novice of the organization they both belonged to. Doing business, hunting down baddies, making their clients happy... this reminded her a lot of her heroic mercenary existence in her first life, and her life as a Watchmon in her second. Being allowed to undo evil entities in the world, solve conflicts, and being paid abundantly for it; what more could she ask from her occupation?

It was probably Bellamy and Luke's open emotional wounds that had led to them talking about something in this way. Had they not been grieving, they would have sensed that Cion was uncomfortable with this conversation, but, instead the twins had gathered that there was definitely something there with Cion and they wanted to help.
Yes it wasn't tactful, yes it wasn't wise, but, they genuinely thought in their hurt states of mind that maybe they would be able to help Cion out a bit with her problems if only they knew what it was. Of course, they would apologize later if Cion got genuinely upset.
But for now, she simply asked them how they overcame this part of themselves. There was silence for a moment, but Luke answered first.
"I overcame this by supporting Bellamy's relationship" Luke said. "I know that I'd never be able to make him as happy as he was when we were together, because, that feeling just isn't there between us anymore. So... I see Bellamy and Coronamon, and I see... happiness. I see joy. At first, yeah, I felt jealous and anger as it sunk in that Bellamy was bonding with a digimon other than me, but... I see them now, being happy, and... I support it. I think how can I be jealous and angry about something that makes my brother happy? And I know Bellamy wants to help me out in turn by trying to hook me up with other digimon that might like me that way, so, I know he'd support me if I were in his situation".
Bellamy was staring at his brother as he said that. Luke was speaking so frankly about him as though he wasn't there, but, the Elecmon was still looking at him as he said that. As though these were words that he wanted to say for a long time but was holding them down.
With that said, a more pleasant conversation about business occurred. "Awesome, lookin' forward to see that in action" Bellamy said, a little nervous after his brother's talk.
By now, the twins had mostly relaxed a little in Cion's company. Thinking about the business in the future, well, there was still so much more to do in the digital world. To make lives better. They couldn't simply turn their backs on all this and retire. There was so much more to do. So for now, the twins would cast their retirement plans aside.
"By the way, Cion, have you seen our base on Kongou Island?" Luke asked her. "If you haven't, we should show you sometime. Yuu's brought us a base for PROFIT".
