A short walk afterward, the pair would find themselves at the entrance of a rather big apartment building. "Well, here we are." The brunette said as she brought out her keys and opened the entrance: The process of getting there was easy enough; walk through the hall until they reached the elevator. After ascending three floors, they stumbled right into another door, and after Amy opened it, her apartment came into view. It wasn't really big or overly decorated; the rather sober pale yellow of the walls resonated softly with the white tiles of the floor, all around giving a rather calm, yet not overly boring appearance. The place was big enough for maybe three or four people to live rather comfortably. After muttering a pretty quick "Feel at home.", the teenager made her way right towards the bathroom, emerging soon afterward with two pretty big towels. After handing one to Asher, she began to dry herself. Funny how despite how much she liked rain, that fact when combined with long hair usually resulted in some bad times. Maybe wear it shorter? Well, that was a possibility... Not one she was up to consider right now, though! After all, she had company. If he hadn't taken seat by then, the brunette would gesture at the decently-sized couch next to a coffee table before moving towards the kitchen, humming as she looked at one of the cabinets before opening and getting two cups. "Any particular blend of tea you like? I'm pretty well-stocked, so don't worry 'bout it."She continued to go through the motions of it, getting the kettle and beginning to warm some water up. "By the way, if you want to begin telling me what exactly happened after I passed out, I'm all ears. If it's related to the spirit-thing I just got, I guess me knowing about it is for the best."
Of course, that was her opinion on the matter. For all what she knew, Asher's own viewpoint could differ. Asher

At least the trip to Amy's house wasn't overly eventful. In fact, Asher was utterly relieved that he didn't have to worry about invisible monsters smashing anything else in the area! If that even was a monster. He wasn't really sure what had happened back there! For all he knew, it was some weird gravitational shift! That, uh, made a car collapse on itself. That's how things like gravity worked, right?
No. Stop trying to rationalize this.
Now that he was in the elevator, the redhead focused on the ceiling, lips pressed tight. Don't focus on tight spaces. Maybe go back to trying to make sense of that spirit hunt! Failing at that, he remained surprisingly quiet for the ascent! Why did elevators have to feel like such a boxed in space? Why did elevators have to be little boxes, anyway? Horrible design!
More than happy to follow Amelie out of the 'death-box', the young man patiently waited for her to unlock the door, before stepping into the home. Casting a surprised glance at the brunette as she hurried off, Asher took a moment to look over the room. "Alright," he hummed, though still made no motion to actually do anything. He was still damp, after all! Even without shoes, he was going to worry about making anything he touched turn soggy!
Though, towels were a great fix to that! Removing his glasses, he chose to carefully dry them before anything else, looking toward the girl despite his blindness. "What's your favorite, that isn't too sweet?" Asher both questioned, and in a way answered, while returning his vision and working on drying off himself. Sure, a lot of teas weren't inherently overly-sweet, but it would hopefully be an indicator that he didn't want to die of sugar-intake! It might be a surprise to some that he wasn't too fond of sugary substances!
Once he felt he was sufficiently dried, the teen moved to the couch to sit. "This is a really nice apartment," he commented, lightly, while still lightly patting his hair with the towel. Do not drip on the couch. Drippy hair just felt rude somehow! "It's only the second one I've been in, since I moved here." And, let's face it, this one felt far more upper-class than his first experience. Not that he would make such a rude comment. It wasn't like everyone had a choice on where they lived!
"Hmm," the young man hummed, mulling over how to explain anything. Was any of the information just too much for someone to handle? Especially if they had recently fainted? "Well, you collapsed. And I caught you," he started, with the most obvious details. "Didn't anyone tell you that fainting is dangerous?" Bad time for teasing, Asher! Hopefully Amy would notice the playful smirk across his lips, rather than think he was being serious!
Regardless of her response, he clicked his tongue to the roof of his mouth, while running over the situation in his head. "Then some words showed up in the air. But, I'm pretty sure it's the same language on Totems. So I can't really read it." And, just the idea of having his spirits read it to him was reminding him of the headache that it had induced when those letters had appeared! Spirits shouldn't be permitted the ability to invade his head! At all!
"No chance you'd have an idea of what words would show up with your totem, huh? Any weird messages while you were unconscious?" Even if there were, Asher didn't seriously expect that Amelie would remember them at all!

Mostly dried up, and somewhat miffed at the fact that the whole process had taken longer than what the brunette had intended it to, Amelie took a quick glance at the floor. Yeah, it was somewhat wet and the place where their footwear stood was already making a small puddle. In a moment like this, the teenager was thankful that her apartment's floor wasn't wooden, or... she'd have a pretty bad time, in all honesty.
Her favorite blend, that wasn't too sweet... "Leaving the choice to me, huh? That's an old trick." The brunette's tone was slightly playful as she took one of the many tins from the cabinet, placing it down. "Hope you like Earl Grey then."
While getting everything ready, she couldn't help but to smile at the compliment thrown to her place. Sure, she thought the place was still kinda plain, but it was kinda the first time somebody had mentioned anything about it. Not like many people had visited as of yet, but still... "Thanks. It's a little too big for me, but since mom and dad come and visit frequently enough, they said they'd rather stay in here than go to a hotel or something." Not to say overall cheaper. And... that that way they'd "keep a close eye on her", whatever that meant. No, of course she wasn't saying that one out loud. Just thinking about those words made her blush with embarrassment.
After getting two glass teacups along with their saucers from another cabinet, she set both down on the coffee table and sat down right afterward. The water wasn't ready yet, and even if it would be at any moment, she wanted to not be distracted when hearing the redhead's tale. It began with some things she had more or less figured out; she had lost consciousness, and Asher had managed to keep her relatively safe until she had woken up.
Suddenly making a jokingly remark took her by surprise, however, and soon enough a pale shade of pink had found its way through her cheeks. "H-Hey! That's not fair! It's not like I can faint at will, you know?" She knew he didn't really mean that, but still. The brunette had the nagging feeling she had been a burden of sorts; not the happiest of thoughts, but Asher had done most of the heavy work... right?
For a moment, Amy's hand reached unconsciously to the pocket where her D-Tector was stored at the moment; it was cold, almost as the device could feel how uncertain she was. Trying hard to chase those thoughts away, she forced a small smile as she kept on hearing. A weird message in the air that had been impossible to decipher. That sounded... cryptic, and somewhat scary.
Maybe she was biting more than what she could chew? Probably, but for her, it was too late to back off. "Words?" The brunette hummed, thinking for a couple of seconds before shaking her head. "I'm sorry. Don't remember anything from when I was unconscious beside this... cold sensation enveloping my body. But that probably was just the rain; hope I'm not catching the flu or something."
The kettle's whistle made it plenty obvious that the water was ready, and that made Amelie stand up again. She prepared a couple of infusers along with the kettle and brought the three to the table, filling both cups with the warm, clear liquid. Placing one of the infusers on her cup, she let out a long, drawn-out sigh. "Thanks for being there. Don't wanna know what could've happened if I had gone on my own."
He had pretty much no reason for being there, and still had decided to help her out, despite knowing more than well how dangerous that could've been. And she was really thankful for that, her expression showing as much, even if it was stained with unmistakable uncertainty.

Lips curled into a small smile, being called out on his not-so-subtle method of indecision. "You caught me," he hummed, reaching up to touch his bangs. Okay, they were finally starting to dry. Thank goodness for short hair. Less thankful for thick hair, however, in cases like this! At least he wasn't bald, though. "Earl Grey's perfect." Not that he could complain! He handed the decision over to Amelie, after all!
Was it too big? Considering prior topics, Asher could only assume it was mostly lonely. A big place wouldn't feel quite as big, with other inhabitants! Or, just with frequent visitors. The latter, he knew quite well from the past. "Hotels definitely aren't cheap, anyway," he agreed, taking a moment to look at the ceiling. "My dad bought a house big enough to 'encourage' me to stay with him, when we moved here." Not that Asher was really in any hurry to move out! His current living situation was the most relaxed he'd felt in years! "Plus, it's probably really convenient if they stay with you, so they don't have to travel from a hotel to here every time they visit." Then again, maybe that wasn't some people's concerns!
With the tap of teacups on a table, yellow eyes shifted to look toward the items. At least, so far, Amelie was acting pretty normally. Or, at least, as normal as Asher could tell, considering they didn't know each other very well! Aside from how much they'd learned about one another today, of course. Furthering that thought, was the reaction that involved Amelie blushing! Yep, she was definitely doing just fine, despite the entire ordeal! "Uh-huh, sure you can't," the redhead teased further, chuckling softly. Of course Amy couldn't control fainting!
And, if she could, that meant the girl had some skill.
Maybe, it was for the best that Amelie couldn't remember the message. Or, it was for the worst. Asher didn't know. He only knew maybe the first word of the whole thing! Either way, he felt the need to ease Amelie's mind on one thing. "That's probably just the totem," he assured. Okay, so maybe that wasn't too much of a settling statement! But, at least she probably wasn't sick! "They don't always feel the greatest, when you load them." One, in particular, of Asher's stood out. But, he was still trying to pretend that event didn't exist.
Saved from his thoughts by a kettle's whistle, the teen shifted slightly. Once the cups were filled, Asher would place an infuser in his cup, and watch for the water to shift in color. "You don't need to thank me," he hummed, after a second. "I'm sure you would have been fine." Or not. Would she have been crushed, also? Or, would something else have happened, entirely? "Though, I have to admit, it's usually better to do these things with other people." Says the hypocrite! Asher would surely do plenty of hunts all by himself, even when he knew better! He had in the past, too!
Watching the color seeping from the infuser, one hand reached out, to lightly tap the side of the glass. It was hot, but it didn't look like the redhead really minded, only pulling his fingers away long enough to avoid burning them, only to return to touch the cup again. "One more thing happened," he chose to add, perhaps a little too quietly, "and I'm not trying to scare you by saying it. But," the actor hesitated, a little abnormally for his personality. Would it alarm Amelie if he said anything about it? Too late now, anyway. "That car you were standing on isn't shaped the same as it was before you grabbed the totem."

It was a bit... funny. Talking about her family to somebody she couldn't say she knew all that much. Was that alright or should she just... change the topic? Eh, she was probably overthinking this too much, it wasn't like the information about where a pair of strangers stayed when they were in town was that important.
Especially since he was sharing a bit about that very topic by himself. "I've never seen anybody be in a hurry to leave their parental home." The notion made the corners of Amelie's lips tug up into a small smile. "But I guess the encouragement is definitely appreciated! Not like I'd mind it myself." In all honesty, living with her parents was something she had thoroughly enjoyed. Sure, they had their discussions and stuff, but that was natural when you were stuck with the same people for most of the day.
"Honestly, they're the ones that are paying this place up so... it's not like I can't really complain even if they suddenly decided they want to move here or something." As funny as the notion was, it wasn't entirely out of the realm of possibility. "I always thought I was their favorite daughter, anyway." A soft giggle ensued right afterward, making it obvious that she was joking.
The end result, however, was the brunette staring at Asher somewhat awkwardly. At least in her opinion, the less they talked about the fact that she just lost consciousness for... how long? Fifteen, maybe thirty minutes? The better.
But... she guessed that was inevitable, wasn't it? As much as she disliked that, it still was one of the important parts of their little adventure, along with had happened right afterward. "The totem, huh?" Why was she having this feeling that the less she knew, the better? Maybe she had seen too many movies, but this had all the pieces of something the teenager didn't want to part of. "Have yours been this... interesting?" She sincerely hoped this business wouldn't be as... strange as it had been, even if that probably had been an omen of her future, should she decide to go through that path.
Had she any other choice, though? At this point, Amy wasn't even sure, especially when these things seemed to have a life of their own. Maybe she should just stop overthinking things... again. Old habits seemed to die hard.
As soon as the liquid in her cup took the reddish hue the brunette liked, she removed the infuser from the cup, the genuine smile on her face no wavering despite the redhead trying to deflect the praise. "Of course I don't need to thank you. But I want to; that's what people usually do when others help them are you're grateful about it, you know?" It was funny how he seemed to wrestle with himself on whether being on your own or doing these in pairs or groups was the best course action, that eliciting another giggle from Amy. "You should definitely make your mind about these things, though! Otherwise, your advice will look a bit... blurry. It's doing so at the moment."
Even if the atmosphere was strangely... relaxed, things wouldn't end like that. One last set of details revealed, those managing to confuse the brunette even more, instead of just clearing things out. "I mean, I can imagine what are you referring to..." She managed to say at first. "But... what do you mean, exactly?"
How he stated he didn't want to scare her was probably foretelling something that wasn't all that nice, but the vague nature of Asher's description had managed to just leave her... scratching her head, figuratively. "Was that... something bad?"
Did she really want to know more about this? Well, it was more or less quicksand by now; she was sure that the more she struggled to get out, the more she'd end up immersed, so... better to just take it head on.

It was a bit relieving that someone actually found the idea of staying with their parents to be moderately normal. Back in the States, it almost felt expected to move out at eighteen! Though, when he was younger, the idea was somewhat looked forward to! Then again, if his parents were footing the bill for a nice apartment like this? "Well, certainly can't complain about anything with this apartment, then," the redhead hummed, with a smile. It sounded like Amelie must have nice parents, then! Or, just really protective ones!
Must be nice, being the [pretend] favorite child, too! But, it gave the teen another topic to breach. "Do you have a lot of brothers and sisters?" It seemed almost unlikely, considering her parents were helping her with an apartment. Wouldn't they have to do the same for every child, if that were the case? Unless, Amelie's family was rich. Then, that was a completely different realm of questions! Those, of course, would be far less likely to be touched by the young man, however. Family was an acceptable topic. How one handled their finances? Not so much.
Though, once moving to a less light topic, the ex-actor proceeded to mimic Amelie's stare back at her. At least, until she had posed a question about his own totems. Now, eyes shifted to the left, and a small groan escaped his throat, akin to a balloon deflating against its will. "Interesting," he repeated, clearing his throat. Yellow eyes only flickered to the girl briefly, before taking focus on the infuser in his cup. "I mean, they're all pretty unique," he admitted, voice fluctuating with a slightly uncertain tone.
Deciding that his tea was fine enough, Asher removed the infuser, before lifting the cup. "If you're asking if they've made me pass out," he paused, to press his lips to the cup. Without hesitation, the teen took a drink, not even bothering to test the temperature before doing so. Did it burn? Definitely. Did Asher do this on a near-daily basis anyway? Absolutely! Making sure to swallow the small amount he'd overheated his tongue with, he took a second to continue. "One of them did. Sort of." Flashing a smile, he added, "but it all worked out just fine. Like yours did." Except, maybe it wasn't so fine for Asher!
Still smiling, the teen went on to respond to how he was contradicting himself with his advice. "But, advice is best when it's a little blurry!" Okay, no, not really! But, Asher was going to roll with it! "I guess it's more that it's possibly safer for others if you do it alone. But, if something goes wrong, it's nice to have someone with you." Not that Asher really wanted to talk about how things could end horribly in either circumstance! That was how people would get scared away from the topic! "But, I have Whiskers with me, usually. So, I guess I'm not really alone most of the time, either way." Was a Digital life less valuable than a human's? Was that what it all came down to, as to why Whiskers could attend his hunts, but he was far less willing to bring Isaac into them?
Then again, Whiskers was a very determined feline, and when she said she was going with him, it was generally non-negotiable. Asher needed to find better ways to evade the feline bodyguard!
Not that tactics seemed to be Asher's strong suit, considering how he was hoping not to scare Amelie away from Digimon, while still bringing up the events after she had lost consciousness! "I mean. Nobody was in the car, so I guess it wouldn't be too bad. More weird, I guess." And alarming for Asher. But, that didn't really matter much, right? "After I pulled you away from the car, it," the teen paused, to think of a way to properly form the sentence. "Crushed itself, or something." Clearly not the best way to explain it, but hey, it was weird! "Pretty sure it's a car-pancake now." There was part of Asher that wanted to go back and investigate the site. But, the more intelligent part of him knew that it was unwise, if only from the idea of travelling to a police-taped area! "It was only us. So, nobody got hurt. But, it was kind of strange." Not really strange as much as alarming, but Asher wasn't going to say that!

Not like she could or would complain, in all honesty; Asher's comment was pretty on point regarding how she felt about the matter. "Even if I complained, I'd probably just be presented with the alternative and that's honestly not something I'd like to try, or at least, not just yet."
It probably wasn't the time to speak about her own doubts and regarding complete emancipation from her parents, she instead decided to let the topic slide to... siblings! Now, that was a pretty interesting topic, actually! Even if Amelie's own relationship with them was a bit interesting, for the lack of a better word Not that she minded talking about them, though!
"I have two sisters and one brother. I'd say that's quite a bit, even though I'm not sure if it counts as lots or not." She responded with a slight smile. Maybe she was a bit too eager about talking about this? She didn't know. "But they definitely don't feel like my siblings; I'd say they almost feel as if they were my uncles or aunts? It's a bit weird, but given that they're at least thirteen years older than me... our relationship kinda went that way."
For her, it had been quite hard to relate to people who were already professionals and that stuff while she was still on high school; sure, she still loved them as siblings, but, excluding her sister Valerie, she never had achieved a significant degree of familiarity without any of her siblings. Those thoughts were accompanied by a short-lived pause before Amy corrected herself. "It's not like I don't love them or anything of the sort, though! I just feel like my relationship with them is a bit different than they have. It's a bit funny like that, but I wouldn't change them for anything in this world. What about you? Any siblings over there?"
Even if she thought briefly about it, the brunette couldn't quite guess if Asher was an only child or if he had siblings, given that no obvious displays of either were shown, but... that was probably a question that she'd have answered soon enough. And it would come along with the redhead's own take on the adventures he had to acquire his totems. It wasn't hard to note how he didn't seem to be all that willing to answer, and that left those on a bit of a vague vein, but pressing him for them was probably not going to end well.
She'd just make the best she could out of it. "Sounds like those were entertaining, at the very least. And potentially deadly; guess~ I'll definitely look forward to mine them." Her tone was mostly jokingly, but there was this very real sliver of seriousness on it. It was something she'd have to think about eventually, given her stance on a world she had yet to visit was nebulous at best.
Luckily for Amy, Asher was doing a pretty awesome job at distracting her from those somewhat gloomy thoughts. She couldn't laugh heartily at the utter lack of sense his "advice" was making, barely caring to cover her mouth with a hand to not to seem as too inconsiderate "Serious talk, though. I think that, as long as others know the risk attached to accompanying somebody who's probably going to face some kind of danger while searching for what looks to be an ancient artifact... it's their decision to come or not? I don't know much about this whole issue, but if a friend went without at least presenting me with the decision, I'd be pretty annoyed at them."
This was a personal opinion, but there were few things she disliked more than being deceived, and while indirect, she considered the omission of that information as a kind of deception. Maybe the brunette was getting too worked up about this? Was he okay with her speaking her mind? It was a bit funny how they seemed to stand at diametrically opposite ends in this conversation, but maybe that was why Amy found it so interesting.
"Who's Whiskers, by the way?" Maybe she had gotten too caught up with herself. "Sounds like a pet." Seconds passed, before the realization hit her mind. "Oh. Is she your cat?"
Well, that solved some questions and brought up even more. Having a digimon of all things as a pet? Well, that was pretty exotic, for sure! Not like she could think about that little detail for too much, anyway. The tale of what happened back in the Entertainment District was... as weird as they came.
Amelie was a little scared, but mostly confused at what had happened. Like... that doesn't sound like something that happened every day, but then again, giant bird things didn't happen every day, either.
Guess she had to get used to these things happening. Out of ordinary being the new ordinary was a pretty strange proposition.
"Huh, well..." Wrapping her mind around it was proving to be harder than expected, even though... she was surprisingly okay with those events? Maybe the shock was still wearing off, or maybe it was just that she was too tired to process it. In the end, she found herself nodding at those words before continuing. "Okay? At least nobody got hurt, I think. Except maybe the car."
Amy wasn't going to say it, but her biggest worry at the moment at the moment was the risk associated with trespassing. With any luck, no trace of them being there would be found. Probably a bit selfish, but she could justify that to herself by being totally alien to situations like this... right?
Right.
"What are you going to do about it?"

Family could certainly make for interested topics to discuss! Especially with Asher gaining insight to how Amelie's siblings were! Of course, his first thought on hearing the age gap was a comment about the girl's parents being old, but at least that was filtered through his brain before reaching his lips! Thus, they were never uttered. Yellow eyes remained wide, with some sense of interest, while listening. "At least they were too old to tease you on the playground?" Asher hummed, a small chuckle escaping from the back of his throat at the concept.
Now that the question was turned back to him, a smile remained soft on his lips. "I think you've got a lot of siblings. I just have my little sister." Though, picking on her on the playground hadn't really happened, either, despite their closeness in age! Picking up a mock-feminine-sassy tone, he chimed, "but she's not 'little', okay? She's fifteen, jeez." It appeared that Piper was never a fan of her brother calling her little! Otherwise, that imitation of her usual speech wouldn't have sounded quite so accurate! Asher was more than content to discuss families all day! Or, at least, for several minutes. All day might be a little excessive, and would probably get into the 'oversharing' territory! And, nobody needed to hear about how Great Aunt Esther acts after dinner on Thanksgiving, or something.
Did anyone actually have a 'great aunt' Esther? Asher didn't know. He wasn't even sure people named Esther were real. Where did that name even come from?
Okay, focus! "We get along pretty well, though. Which, is better than how most siblings on TV act." Then again, just about everything on television was over-dramatized!
Maybe spirit hunts were like episodes on a television show, too. They could seem pretty dramatic! But, Amelie was taking the concept like a pro! "They're all interesting, at least!" The redhead smiled, cocking his head to the side slightly. "Just, try not to spend most of it trapped in a crate with a crabby teenager, while an angry lion-monster hangs out outside of it." Not that they actually knew the lion was there at that time! But, it still made things less than ideal! Though, it felt like Asher spent most of his days with crabby teenagers! And, customers certainly felt like lions. Hopefully these spirit hunts weren't supposed to be some relation to reality!
And, if they were, hopefully Amelie's reality had nothing that could haunt her!
"Maybe you'll get lucky and just have to arm wrestle some guy for all of your spirits. Sometimes it really boils down to weird things like that," he snickered, with a shrug. But, with a moment of seriousness coming from the brunette, eyes widened to a more innocent fashion. Asher hadn't really thought about how others felt on the situation. Though, he could certainly see from that perspective. If he met spirit users that needed to find something, he always tried to help. Why shouldn't he have expected that same feeling to come from others? But, after only a second, the innocence faded into a resisted smirk. "now, that wouldn't mean you'd want to join me on one of my hunts, would it?" Was that an invite, or just a little joke? Who knew with Asher!
Straightening his posture a little, eyes lifted to the ceiling for a moment. "Not all spirits are really friendly, either. So, I'm not really sure if it's protecting them from the search, or protecting them from the monster," he admitted, a little too thoughtfully. But, as if catching himself, gaze flickered to Amelie, flashing a grin, "maybe that's thinking a little too deep, though!"
Less deep was the question about Whiskers! There weren't many things to hide about his pet! And, at least Amelie caught on relatively quickly to who he was talking about! "Well, she used to be Mister Whiskers, until she less-than-nicely told me that she wasn't a he!" One would think they'd have figured out a gender before giving a cat a name with Mister preceding it! But, it was Asher, and Piper never really cared either way. So, perhaps that made it less surprising. "Could've been avoided, if she'd have said more than 'meow' at me for the first few months!" But, then the feline's cover would have been blown!
It seemed that Asher had gotten lucky several times, with how Amelie reacted to any sort of news. She didn't seem the type to be shaken easily! "I think it was just the car," he agreed, a little too quickly. "Nothing looked like it was there, so I don't think the police'll have any issues with pancake-car." Not like anyone was driving the car, anyway! It was pretty well finished with its vehicular career!
A small, "humm," vibrated from the back of the young man's throat, as he mulled over the final question. But, again, a smile lifted the corners of his lips. If anything, Amelie was good at keeping Asher friendly, at the very least! "Absolutely nothing," he chimed. "Nobody else was involved. And, we didn't do anything wrong, except for walk in that area." That would just end up badly for the both of them! "Unless, you want something to be done?"

There was no way to sugarcoat it; being it a bit of a bittersweet feeling, Amelie thought that Asher's comment was a bit weird. Guess the fact that at least he tried to make her feel better was what counted, however.
"Yup. No playground teasing, at the very least. Even though sometimes I wondered how that one feels like. Or you know, what having siblings that don't treat you as something that needs to be spoiled rotten feels." Given the lack of pets at the house, she had wondered at a point if she was the puppy of the family or something! Everyone just brought her gifts or presents or clothes or whatever each time they visited, and that kinda felt plain weird. Again, not like she really could complain about that...
"A little sister, huh? That's interesting! I always wondered how having a younger sibling felt!" If her experience was any indication of it, she probably was the center of all the family's attention, but hopefully, that wasn't the case. The brunette couldn't avoid giggling at the redhead's imitation of her voice; it was truly amusing! "She must be pretty cute. And sounds like you two are pretty close. That's nice..."
It sounded pretty silly at the moment, but having somebody to goof around with sounded like a lot of fun, at least from her perspective at the moment. Probably became a drag later on, but that's irrelevant. Probably. "How does that work with siblings, though? Does she know about, you know...?"
Being roundabout about digimon seemed to be something pretty weird to do at the moment, but Amy was pretty sure that keeping something like that as a secret from a sibling was bound to be way harder than, say, a parent. How did "normal humans" react to the knowledge of another world existing with monsters that seemed out of fairy tales? Unless... "Wait. Does she have any relationship with digimon too? That'd be so weird."
Sibling sharing the blessing (or curse) of journeying together through this would be pretty unlikely, wouldn't it? For some reason, even if that were the case, it wouldn't surprise her too much. Some pretty strange things had happened already, so...
"Isn't that oddly specific?" Amy found that Asher's own style to retell his adventure was pretty peculiar, and entertaining in a sense. "Why did you bring a crabby teenager with you, though? Unless you forgot their redeeming qualities in your little description, that sounds not very ideal." Arm wrestling didn't sound like a much better alternative, though! Considering the brunette's own strength, she would probably struggle to beat the average digimon even if she had some kind of unfair advantage. "I guess that if I really wanna go with this totem-searching thingy, being prepared for everything is the order of the day. If my first one went like that, I don't wanna imagine what will follow..."
The way her words was answered by posing a question left her wondering. Amelie wasn't sure if she was being the victim of some kind of joke or not but... it wasn't like she wouldn't reply in kind to that, though! "Well~! If you're implying that I'm a close friend of yours and that you're extending the invitation, I'd... consider it." Maybe it was a sudden change of mood, but, a tone that was way more playful than in her previous statement and a tinge of mischief could be observed in her expression. "Just hope you don't consider me a crabby teenager, though!"
How the conversation went and changed in tones was pretty interesting. It was a little overwhelming even; having to read into every situation and ponder if the redhead was actually being serious or not was a little taxing on its own way, but enjoyable on other. Amy couldn't say she wasn't having fun, though.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Undoubtedly serious, but also undoubtedly cryptic; that statement left her wondering if there was more to the hunting of spirit totems than meets the eye, even though the topic already seemed to be pretty complex from the get-go. "I'm not sure what are you talking about, but... guess this whole deal is way more serious than people running around with superpowers, isn't it?" Maybe this whole net of secrets had a higher purpose or something of the like? Nah... "Probably I'm thinking a little too deep too."
At least they had Whiskers to divert the topic to something simpler. And that she'd understand, hopefully! "Wait, wait. Mister? I mean, I don't know much about cats, but it shouldn't be somewhat easy to tell the difference between a male and a female? I mean, males usually have a... well, you know." She wasn't going to be explicit on that kind of thing, given its slightly embarrassing nature! Actually, the brunette may have been blushing slightly while saying those words? Was she too innocent? Maybe.
Why every topic had to take a turn to the utterly incomprehensive, awkward, serious or embarrassing? One would say that maintaining a conversation with Asher would result in more lighthearted things; appearances could really deceive, couldn't they? "I'm glad then. I'd feel pretty guilty if somebody got hurt because of our small outing." It was a bit silly, but Amy hadn't expected her own question to be bounced back at her. Maybe it was because she wasn't sure why she had asked it in the first place. "Absolutely nothing is perfect to me. I'm glad that chapter's closed, then. That's a relief, honestly."
How much time had passed since they had gotten in? Giving a quick peek out of the window, the night's darkened sky was clearly evident. Already night, huh? Guess it's true that time flies when you're having fun.

Asher could easily say that he didn't know how it felt for siblings to spoil him! Sure, Piper was a pretty great sister, but she was far from overly caring or generous! Though, the girl most definitely was the younger sister, so she was supposed to be the spoiled one in this situation! A bill that Piper fit quite well, in this sibling relationship. Not that Asher would ever begin to mind. "Do little sisters not like to be spoiled?" This was a legitimate question! And very important!
As far as having a younger sibling went, Asher certainly had no complaints! "I'd say it has its ups and downs, but I don't actually have any complaints," he admitted, cheerfully. In fact, the introduction of Piper to his family had been a turning point to a notably better lifestyle for the ex-actor! "We're really close," the young man agreed, with a nod, "she helped me adjust after I moved away from L.A.; I bet it would have been a lot more difficult otherwise." For instance, public school. That was certainly a shock to the system, when Asher had to make the adjustment! "We tell each other pretty much anything," he started, only to trail off.
And, well-timed with Amelie's processing of siblings and Digimon, he added, "except that. I'm not in any hurry for her to learn about Digimon." Though, it was awfully strange that Piper never really seemed too concerned about Whiskers' obvious deformities. "She'd better not have any relation with Digimon," he commented, with a slightly protective tone. It was awfully hard to shake big-brother mode! Even in instances where it was highly unlikely! "Even though she'd probably be better at it than I am, if she was," he added after a second. His sister was pretty smart, after all. She could probably figure out Digimon within a day! Asher had been working on it for -- what? -- months?
Cracking a grin, the redhead shrugged, "could just be random details." Yes. So random that they actually happened. "He may have owed me for not telling me that my cat was a Digimon when he met her." Not that Isaac would have ever had to help! Asher was at a drastically lower level than him at that point in time! It's not like Asher could have been intimidating about it! "You'd think someone would want to tell you if your pet is actually part of a race of creatures that can be known to be violent." Except, that summarized cats anyway! Ah, whatever! "Good plan to stick with for the hunts, though. They're all pretty different." Like being trapped in a box, or being lost in a haze, or just dealing with obnoxious guardians!
At least Amelie had a way of keeping Asher smiling. "Only consider? Fine. But, I swear they're always interesting!" Not always fun, but interesting nonetheless! "And I promise, I'll only call you crabby if we find out one of your spirits turns you into a crab." Was it bad that now, Asher wanted to meet someone forced to turn into crustacean for their spirits? Probably. That probably made him an awful person. But, as far as his other statement went, he had to pause to think about it a little. "Definitely more complicated than superpowers. I think." Not that Asher would know too much about that! He didn't have superpowers beyond the whole spirit evolution thing! "But, that's something to worry about for another time!" For instance, not the same day that Amelie had obtained her first spirits!
Just like Asher didn't want to have to worry about identifying his cat's gender! "Well, I wasn't going to look!" The redhead defended, chuckling. "We just kind of gave 'him' a name and some food, and didn't ask a whole lot about it." How had an entirely family been entirely unphased by a deformed cat? To the point of never even checking its gender? Clearly, they weren't overly concerned!
With any luck, they would never hear anything on the news about that area having actually injured people after their visit. Realizing how much of the day had been spent, the teen shifted to reach into his pocket, pulling out his phone. Tapping the screen, it lit up with the time and several notifications. "Ah," he hummed, almost hesitantly, "it's getting kind of late, isn't it?" He'd completely lost track of time! It would probably be rude to stay too much longer! And, if the increasing amount of notifications was any indicator, his sister was either becoming annoyed or concerned! "I should probably go home, and check on my sister," he admitted, moving to stand up. But, before he could ramble any formalities of goodbyes, he paused. "Do you want my phone number?" And, then another quick pause, processing that it seemed a bit random. Then again, Asher was probably expected to be random! "Awfully hard to invite you on horrible spirit-totem hunts, if the only way I know how to talk to you is to stalk your apartment," he joked. Not that he would ever actually do that! That would just be creepy! But, it wasn't like Asher could just ask Amelie for her number, after her phone had decided to change its career and become a digivice, instead! So, at least he could offer up his number for her to put into her replacement phone, if she wanted! Or, she could entirely feign interest and throw the number away when he walked out the door. Who knew!

A question to answer her own wasn't something Amy had expected, and now that she thought of it. Well... "Don't get me wrong. I'm sure every human being ever wants to be spoiled at some point, bu~t." A lengthy sigh escaped her lips. There being buts wasn't something overly surprising. "I guess you'd understand it better if you ever get to meet my family. It'd probably redefine your concept of weird. In the good sense, of course!"
Not a very satisfactory answer, but giving a lengthy explanation on the quirks everyone had would probably feel out of place. Maybe later down the line. Way later
Something way more interesting, however, was Asher's own relationship with her little sister. They seemed to truly have each other's back; a kind of camaraderie that was alien to the brunette, and that she found fascinating, even if the extent of what they shared ended up as soon as digimon were brought up. Understandable, of course! Even if...
"Huh, I didn't expect that one." Amelie said, a hint of a teasing smile on her face. "Couldn't have guessed you were one of those overprotective older brother types. That's kinda cu~te." She resisted to impulse to further tease him, even though doing so was a little fun. In the end, she ended up nodding with that same smile at his next statement; if she had learned anything about older brothers, is that they usually underestimated their younger sisters.
Enough of that, however! As confusing as Asher's speech could get, the brunette could figure out a bit about how he got involved with that crabby teenager. And frankly, regretted asking it a bit, because... now she was a little more confused than on the start, but it wasn't like that was overly weird when it came to the redhead. She refrained to comment over that, mostly due to not being super sure on what to say. Well, somewhat. "Must've been a pretty... interesting experience. Why would he owe you for not telling your cat's not a real cat, though? Unless he already knew you were into the Digimon thing. I would have probably done the same. Or at least told you to check why she's... so weird-looking." After all, it was pretty clear that wasn't a normal cat! Even though nobody had seemed to mind...
Ignorance is undoubtedly bliss.
"Yup, consider. Wouldn't be as interesting otherwise!" She couldn't contain a giggle at how she would only be called crabby if she ended up turning into a crab. Considering her luck, that didn't appear to be super unlikely. "I... guess it could be worse. Given your track record, I wouldn't be surprised if you ended up calling me Mr. Crabs or something."
Was that a lame reference? Positive. Did that make it any less fun? Of course it didn't. It as also a nice way to make the atmosphere a little lighter between what could constitute pretty serious topics that Amy didn't fully grasp. Maybe that was her way to bear with it? Maybe. "Yeah, maybe it's better to immerse slowly. Otherwise, that thing that happens to divers who ascend to quickly might happen to me. Not the best, probably."
Still, the whole matter was intriguing, and letting go of it so easily was probably more complicated than that. Or not; in any case, Whiskers' gender seemed to be more interesting than that. Because it was just utterly silly. "I mean, didn't you take her to a vet for health checkups and things like that? Just to make sure she isn't sick or something because... you know, doesn't look like a normal cat at all? It just doesn't make much sense." As amazing as that was, it seemed to still be what had happened. Guess it's true that reality surpasses fiction.
One thing was true, though! Most of the day had passed already, and tiredness was beginning to weigh the teenager down. A lot; the day had been long, and that probably was the understatement of the year. It was... a good moment to end this impromptu meeting as any.
"Yeahh. Guess you should go back." This time, a genuine smile graced Amelie's face as she gave her tea the last couple of sips. "I can safely say that making a younger sister worry is not a smart move." She quirked an eyebrow at Asher offering his number, but she figured it made sense, given her own was... well, not functional anymore. "I guess that makes sense. Wouldn't want to miss your horrible hunts for anything in the world. Let's just save you the hassle of stalking me."
She made a gesture with one hand, signaling for him to wait as she quickly went to her room, just to emerge moments later with her house's phone in one hand. "I'm not at home for most of the day, but I guess that at least giving you a phone number back would be fair?"
Extending the device to him, she guessed that the usual was for the other to type their phone there and hand it back? Not like she was an expert at exchanging phone numbers!
Once that was taken care of, goodbyes were probably in order; getting back to the apartment's main door was just a matter of the pair retracing their steps all the way towards the ground level. "Overall, I guess I had fun today. Catch you later~."
A wave of her hand as the door closed and the teenager exited; a sigh coming out from Amelie's lips as he went away. Time to go back to her apartment.
Yet... one question remained. How was she supposed to feel? Because, right now, her feelings just didn't make a sliver of sense. [Exit Thread]
