Fight or Flight [Sophie & Lantis]

Sophie took note of K's reactions to her explanation of what happened. Particularly that she seemed a little frustrated. Why was that? Did K want to help prevent something like that from happening again? Well, Sophie wouldn't bring it up for the moment, but it would definitely linger as a thought she had about K for the time being.
"Alright, that can be something down the track" she said. She and Lantis were glad K would take their advice to get a holosuit later on. Regardless of how much Sophie liked and was fascinated by digimon, she could tell that them walking around in broad daylight on Earth would cause problems.
As they entered the AEGIS building, K indicated that she would like water. "I'll get that for you" Lantis said, and made his way into the kitchen to get a glass. When he returned, Sophie was seated at a small conference table, indicating for K to do the same.
When the water was served, Sophie would begin her questions.
"So, K, I suppose the most important thing I would like to learn from you is... how exactly did you end up on Earth? The reason this is important is because we're a little concerned about the amount of digimon travelling from the digital world to Earth, and this is the first instance in which a Perfect level has done so. Obviously I'm glad it's you, since you seem to be a nice digimon so far, but, it would be a very serious situation if hostile Perfect levels were to appear".
She and Lantis would then await K's answer. Even if K had seemed confused about the exact method, they hoped that now she was in a more comfortable setting she might be able to give them some kind of lead that might be able to help them predict if something similar in the future might happen again, or if not, then they would be able to simply put it down to a random chance. Either way, it was something that Sophie felt was important to document properly.

K rubbed her muzzle thoughtfully and went over the events of today in her head. It was just a lot of running around and just avoiding people while dealing with this city in general. It could of gone so much worse if Sophie hadn't come to talk with her.
"Very well."
The idea of having a holosuit was strange, did you feel the same way or was it just something fake? Were you still you underneath or.. Well that would have to be something she'd find out first hand after all.
"Thank you."
She'd take a seat at the table, ears perked and flicking forward. She'd nurse the water carefully as she listened. The questions piling up and the indications of what could of happened actually made the shutmon a bit worried. The first question was a baffling one that she truly didn't know how to really explain it. She'd set her water down and frown.
"I was at my Inn back in the digital world, I went up to do some cleaning in the third floor. It's an executive suite that hasn't been rented out for quite some time. So upon opening it, I stepped through closed the door and turned about to find myself in the human world."
She'd pause and then let out a small sigh, shaking her head slowly.
"I know it sounds far-fetched, but it's what happened. If this was the first instance of someone of my particular level has come..."
She'd trail off looking visibly worried. She knew how destructive digimon could be.
"How often do digimon come to the human world? At least unofficially?"

Sophie rubbed her chin as she listened to K's story of what she was doing. So far it sounded to her like it was a completely random occurrence, which would probably be the most difficult issue to solve if this happened again. However, she still had to make sure that there could be other clues.
"I see, so it happened completely at random in your inn? That must have been a frightening experience" Sophie admitted. "What I'm curious about though, did you notice anything strange or unusual occurring in your inn recently? Sparks glowing in your peripheral vision, hearing noises, experiencing strange effects?"
Lantis then chimed in with a suggestion of his own. "Have you had any unusual guests recently that were acting suspiciously?" he asked. Sophie thought that was a good question, but a bit forward. She cleared her throat to indicate to Lantis to back off a little. He thankfully caught on fast. "Er, well, of course if you have customer confidentiality we won't go down that way" the Leomon finished.
K then asked how often digimon came to Earth. Sophie rubbed her head as she pondered what she knew.
"So far, most digimon enter Earth as eggs, babies, in-trainings or rookies" she said. "And out of these, most of them are partner digimon to a human, who seem to be able to break through to our world using a power that we don't know about yet". Sophie took her digivice from her pocket and showed it to K. "We think whatever power this is, it's related to the digivices that humans and our partners have. However, since you arrived here as a Perfect level, I'm inclined to think that it may be something else".
She rubbed her chin again, looking at K. "Hmm. Pardon me for asking, but, how long have you been in that form for?" she asked. "Are you fully knowledgable about all of your abilities as a Shutmon? Because this might simply be related to an ability you might have and not know about if so. Just raising it as a theory".

"That it did. It was... More frustrating than anything. I was hoping that my first visit would be more structured."
K would sigh and shake her head slowly; she had wanted to come to the human world at some point. She just figured it wouldn't be so soon and wouldn't be in such a manner. She'd muse over what sophie inquired about for a few minutes, tapping her muzzle thoughtfully before tending to the glass of water.
"No. Nothing like that, no strange effects and no Guests that seemed out of the norm. Most of them were regulars. It wouldn't be strange to hear noises in my inn when people are there after all."
She'd snort and tap the table softly.
"Customer Confidentiality? My inn isn't high class or high risk. It's in the middle of no where compared to what you'd expect. So people will know if you're new to the area; or haven't been there before. Wouldn't matter even if I did."
The explanation of most digimon coming to the human world in the lowest levels a digimon had made more sense than coming over like what she currently was in. When the human showed her digivice to K she'd blink owlishly and lean to inspect it. She had seen only one other digivice in her entire life. They certainly looked completely different didn't they?
"Makes sense why they would come there in such a manner... What do you think it is then?"
She'd shift in her seat a bit and look down at herself when asked about how long she had been in this form for. It had to be what.. a few days now maybe a week at worst?
"About a week I think, maybe less maybe more? It's kind of hard to keep track of the days honestly."
There was a brief pause and she'd slowly shake her head.
"I know my general abilities? Like nothing extensive. But I don't think the ability to come to the human world is a part of it?"
She let out a smooth sigh and stroked her muzzle thoughtfully.
"Then again, So far I only know the general physical capabilities of this... 'perfect' level? Such as being able to 'fly' or how fast I am in comparison to your vehicles you have here."
There was another pause and she'd sigh shaking her head once more.
"Then again it's not so much flying as it is me literally walking or running on air..."

Sophie made a "hmm" noise in her throat, acknowledging the answer. She shared an uneasy look with Lantis, the human and partner understanding what that meant. "Then it seems like this might be a totally random occurrence" she stated. Not a very good prospect, especially if it happened again in warping an aggressive and powerful digimon to Earth.
"Or, at the very least, something caused it that we don't yet know about" Lantis added, thinking that there might be more to this... 'displacement' than met their immediate knowledge.
After K took a look at her digivice, Sophie mulled over her theories.
"Well, the first theory that comes to mind is that, well, you might possibly have a human partner here in Japan that drew you here" she said. "However, that seems unlikely, since you reached Perfect level by yourself. And I haven't yet come across a partner digimon able to do that without proximity to their partner".
She looked to Lantis, who then spoke. "I met Sophie as a Rookie level, and that's the furthest I know of with partnerships forming" he clarified.
"And my next theory is, well, there's some kind of... entity out there, probably in the digital world, with contact with earth, that's causing this... buildup of meetings between humans and digimon, forming partnerships, all that. But, so far, we've had no evidence to support this theory, other than spontaneous appearances of digimon and digivices" Sophie continued. "Other than that, no, I'm afraid I don't have any solid theories of how you ended up on Earth so suddenly".
So she had only been evolved to Perfect for a week? Alright, that was something. "And that's my third theory, that you, a Shutmon, have a possible unique ability that allows you to warp between worlds, and somehow you initiated this ability without knowing about it".
K's statement about her abilities was also interesting conversation. "Yes, Perfect level digimon have much control over their physical surroundings" Lantis added. "Even as a Champion level, I shudder to think what I'm capable of when I evolve".
"And many more shudder" Sophie added. She looked at K again, thinking of what to talk about next. "Well, K, I'd like to ask you a question. What would you like to do now? Would you like to return to the digital world? Or would you like to spend more time on Earth? I'd be happy to facilitate either option..." she hesitated, then spoke further. "But I have to say that even though our introduction was a little, well, heated, you've been a polite and fascinating digimon to speak to, and you seem to have a good heart too. If you choose to leave and return to Earth, you'd be welcome to check in here with AEGIS and we'll do what we can to help you".

"It could be yes. Once I get back to the digital world I intend to check on that room. See if it occurs again.. Don't know what I'll do if it does."
She'd shrug and rub the back of her neck after a few moments. She felt a little odd to say the least. It was frustrating to think about this in such a manner. Having to play her suite room as though it wasn't ready if things went poorly.
"That'd be odd considering everything. If I were to meet my partner at this point? I'd be a little concerned more for them than for me."
K would frown and shake her head. They wouldn't be used to things at all would they? They'd likely see her as a powerful tool if she was introduced so late. Unless she hid her power from them, which might be easy...
"That'd make more sense, that if something forced me to be here. If anything it might just be a random occurrence; the digital world is a strange place after all."
Another shrug and she'd pause at the mention of her having that ability. She'd shake her head slowly; imagining that of course that'd be highly unlikely. Lantis spoke about having control, along with the capabilities of what they currently had. It'd be problematic in this place wouldn't it be? At sophie's next question K tutted softly, leaning back in her chair.
"I would like to spend a bit of time here on earth. Before I Return to the digital world. If I'm to be dealing with humans more frequently; in both business and other bits. It's best to know where they come from and what sort of customs are common."
There was a brief pause and K gave sophie a small smile.
"I appreciate the thought, coming out in this manner was enough to make either side worried. Thank you, I'll make sure to if I do come back to earth to well.. Inform you of my arrival and such. I imagine it'd be better than popping in during a bad stretch."

Sophie considered that answer. "Right... well, if you suspect there might be a risk, Lantis and I could accompany you? Just to observe and assist if we can".
Honestly, K had been very helpful today, and the two of them would be delighted to assist her in return. Obviously ensuring that one's home had no further risk of sudden teleportation across worlds would be an idea of repayment.
K then mused that it'd be unlikely that she'd meet a partner at this stage of her life, and Sophie regarded that as true. It seemed K was a natural independent digimon as far as she knew, but still, it was concerning that she'd randomly end up in the human world at this level. It would be something she would probably discuss with her brother Colin at a later date.
K then answered their question by saying that she would like to spend more time on Earth. Sophie understood and gave a nod. "Okay. Well, can I ask that you stay here for a few hours? If you could do that, I can try and procure a holosuit from the digital world for you. If that's alright, then we can hopefully provide you with a disguise that will prevent further, well, incidents for the time being".
And after that? What next? Sophie probably couldn't provide K accommodation in her apartment. And furthermore, entrusting her with resting here in AEGIS headquarters without supervision was something of a risk too. As nice as K was, Sophie just couldn't trust such a vulnerable position at this stage. But, K already knew about the headquarters, Sophie had invited her in, what else could she do?
"Well, um..." she began, trying to find her words. "If you're in need of accommodation here, K, then you're welcome to rest here" she said. "However, please be aware that the information we store here is sensitive. I would be very grateful if you didn't touch any of the machinery here". Perhaps some incentive would help? "Of course, if we can trust you with this, we would be most grateful and would do our best to reward you as best we can in the times to come".
Perhaps that was all she could offer? Trust went a long way in Sophie's world. And she really wanted to trust K. After all, she trusted Satoshi and his security systems. If K accepted this base as a safehouse and she agreed not to touch any of their equipment without supervision, then Sophie would likely trust her in the times to come.

"I wouldn't worry about it too much, if there is a risk of it. I just end up in the Human world again, in the same locale. From there I'd inform you all that it's indeed a constant portal. But at this point I think it's just a random occurrence."
K would shrug and gently scratch at her muzzle. These two had helped her out a bit thus far; and she didn't see the reason for them having to trek all the way out into the eastern timberlands just to check this with her.
"Certainly. If that's the sort of thing that will help humans well... Not react in the same fashion as that Officer. If you could avoid picking something that would garner attention I would appreciate it."
She'd shake her head softly a soft sigh escaping from her. She didn't like the idea of multiple people having that same reaction. As of right now digimon seemed to be a well kept secret or at the very least it seemed like a dirty secret that some people knew about. While others were blissfully unaware.
Then came the surprising offer. K blinked owlishly and stared at Sophie as they told her that she was welcome here. The fact that they were trusting enough to let her stay was a little surprising and it made the digimon hesitate. At the same time being trusted by an group of humans that made it their goal to protect the human world in a fashion against digimon was ultimately a good thing.
"I appreciate that, seeing as I don't really have any solid places to stay currently."
Quickly after came the request that she not touch the machinery at this location as the information was rather sensitive. She'd shake her head slowly; she didn't have interest in the information they had. It likely wouldn't be very useful to someone like her; as she likely couldn't understand half of it. Well that's what she assumed...
"I don't own anything here, so why would I touch any of it in the first place? I'll keep in mind that the information is sensitive, so anything that I hear here is likely in the same boat. I'll be quiet about it so don't worry."
Sophie indicated next, that they would do their best to reward her if she followed along with this. K didn't really see the need for it and shrugged after a few moments.
"There's really no need for that but.. I appreciate it. If I come across anything that would likely affect this place or the people in it, I'll make sure to bring it to your attention."
K believed that it was only fair that she offer something in exchange for what sophie was suggesting. Tit for tat or something like that...

Glad that she could help in some way, Sophie then sent a communication message to a friend currently in the digital world. In time, they would arrive here at the terminal with a decent holosuit for K to use. In a bit over an hour, a young man called Tadao Asahina would arrive in Terminus to give K the holosuit.
K then accepted the offer to stay here. Sophie smiled. "It's fine. Once you get the holosuit, more options would be open for you. You could live and reside in the city as an ordinary human, provided you have a source of income first".
But all of that would change once the central AEGIS headquarters was completed. Then K would be able to stay there in a more comfortable private residence.
"While we're waiting, would you like a basic introduction about living in Tokyo?" Sophie then asked the Shutmon. "We can show you a beginner's guide on the computer if you like. It'll tell you the basics of the customs and laws that you'd be expected to abide by".
If that was fine, Sophie and Lantis would show K a website that would tell her the basics of what she needed to do to live as a human. Basically - don't steal, don't hurt, mind your manners, and don't tread where it is forbidden.
After that was settled, there would be a knock at the door eventually. Lantis went to open it, and standing there was a blond bespectacled young man with a little purple and white digimon wearing a coat and hat.
"Hi, Tadao!" Sophie called, waving at him. Tadao tried to take his eyes away from the tall lion man in front of him.
"Uh... hi" Tadao said awkwardly. "So... this is AEGIS, huh?"
"Yeah, that it is" Sophie confirmed. Tadao nodded, then held up what appeared to be a small hard disk drive.
"I got you the holosuit like you requested" Tadao said. He then noticed K, blinking a bit with astonishment. Two large digimon in the same room, wow, this definitely was an odd setting.
"Thanks so much, Tadao, it means a lot" Sophie said, smiling. "Here's something for your troubles" she gave him a good amount of yen and bits to cover the costs and inconvenience.
"Ah, right, thanks" Tadao answered, deciding to accept the payment. "I, uh, won't stay long, just... have somewhere to be". It was obvious that he was incredibly nervous. Sophie noted this and supposed it would be nice to at least introduce him.
"Aw, no time for a drink?" Sophie asked. "Tadao, I'd like to introduce you to K, she's a friendly digimon we met today". She gently brought him over. While Tadao was nervous, his Offmon partner Logan seemed to be eager to see this Shutmon up close. After all, that would be his Perfect form one day, so he hoped.
"K, this is my friend Tadao Asahina. He's not a part of AEGIS, but he said he'd like to help out how he can" she said. "And this is his partner, Logan".
"Ah... hi" Tadao said, awkwardly waving a little.

"I don't know if I could reside here while my inn is still up and running without planning for it honestly. But that's certainly something to think about."
The shutmon would scratch her head and glance about the room for a few moments. Where would she even pick to live? was human living a little more structured or was it something that you could easily pick and choose? She'd have to look into that a bit.
"It would be a good idea to do so. Don't want to be arrested or accosted for doing something out of sorts I suppose."
There was a shrug following and she'd look over what the duo decided to show the Shutmon. It was pretty straightforward, rather simplistic too. The digimon at luminas would probably like the layout of everything. Being all crisp and easy to understand.
She perked up a bit and both ears swiveled as there was a knock on the door. The shutmon turned as lantis went to go open it up. She didn't recognize the individual that was on the other side but she did recognize the kind of digimon that was with him. Normally that was what evolved into shutmon if her memory of things was correct.
Sophie greeted the individual in a rather friendly manner; so upon noticing her the shutmon gave Tadao a small wave. He seemed to be nervous; what with the leomon and the shutmon both being in the same room. Was he someone that was starting out or someone that just wasn't good around multiple digimon.
She'd tilt her head a little bit and watch him quietly; though when he was brought closer she'd offer one of her hands for a shake. After all humans liked handshakes and bowing right? She couldn't do the latter very well as she was seated. She'd give the offmon a small smile, there was always an off chance of meeting these two out of AEGIS controlled areas too.. so there was no reason to be unfriendly.
"A pleasure to meet the both of you."

"Ah, of course" Lantis remarked when K mentioned that her Inn still needed to be looked after. Still though, a holosuit gave a digimon many possibilities of life on Earth.
K then accepted the introduction about living in Tokyo. Indeed, for Sophie it was all rather neat and organized, sometimes disturbingly so. Then again, she grew up in the suburbs of Omaha, so moving to one of the biggest cities in the world from there was quite the culture shock. But now, she was starting to get used to it 3 years later.
Tadao was indeed a newcomer to digimon. He had only recently met his partner and wasn't quite used to being in a world of digimon. Still though, given that his partner was in fact the son of two other digimon he had to meet them sooner or later. And in fact, this Shutmon reminded him a little of Logan's father - Owen. Only this one seemed a little more lithe and spoke with a higher pitched voice, plus Sophie introduced her as a female. So there did seem to be some little differences between male and female digimon it seemed.
Tadao accepted her handshake, a little alarmed at her claws, but settled down at her politeness. Sophie meanwhile was delighted that they had got that out of the way so easily.
"Thanks" Tadao said. "So, K... I've got you your holosuit if you'd like to try it on". He offered her something about the size and weight of an external hard disc drive. From its use, when activated, it would completely change K's appearance to that of a human - even if in reality she was still a digimon.
Sophie watched, hoping that it wasn't something that K was too uncomfortable with.

The shutmon sighed just a little bit; rubbing her muzzle for a few moments as she thought through what this day had brought her. It had gone from running around like a madman in the human world to.. Dealing with some organization that she wasn't fully sure about at the moment. She liked the idea behind it or at least the bits she was told about.
She could tell that the human was somewhat nervous about her; it could be because he was rather new or that he just was having a hard time adjusting to this whole digimon thing. Either one wouldn't really be surprising. She'd raise a brow when he spoke again; telling her that he had a holosuit for her to try on.
"well no time like the present; can't really go anywhere without trying it on anyways."
She'd chuckle softly before taking the item that he offered and turn it over a few times. She had seen something very similar to this in some shop windows she had passed. Though they weren't as nice. She'd raise a brow and dip her head in thanks to Tadao; thumbing over the activation button or at least what she thought to be the activation button. There was an odd pause before the Holosuit actually kicked into effect.
A few moments later the shutmon was replaced with a somewhat human form; it didn't look displeased in the slightest and the digimon looked itself over a few times before tutting softly.
"Certainly fitting, if not a little sleek. May have to make some changes in the future as I get more used to human society. Thank you Tadao."

The four others in the headquarters watched as K activated the holosuit. It showed a basic female human form. Sophie was glad that Tadao had been savvy enough to select such a form, but of course, the best result would be for K to go to the digital world and try one for herself.
"That's alright, K" Tadao responded, seeming to relax a little as the tall wolfish digimon assumed a more human appearance. Logan meanwhile was amazed at what he had just seen.
"Whoa... holosuits work that well?!" he asked, astonished. "Hey, Tadao, can I get one too?" he asked his partner.
"It would be for the best" Sophie advised the less experienced tamer. "If you keep Logan in this world, it would be better if he was normally seen as a human".
"I guess that's true" Tadao admitted. "Alright, I think I might go back to the digital world and get one then" he concluded. He turned to look at K again.
"Well, it's been nice to meet you, K. I hope we meet again down the track" he said. "I'm... a little new to all this digimon business, but so far I've had a lot of fun with the other people and digimon I've met in the last few weeks. So, maybe one day we can help each other out?" he offered. Sophie was delighted to see this kind of liaison.
"Thanks, Tadao, it's awesome of you to do this" Sophie said to him, then, after the farewell customs, Tadao and Logan departed. Then, Sophie turned to K.
"So, hopefully that's all you need to know" she said. "By the way, our main office is opening soon. If you're around in this area in a few weeks, you'd be invited to attend the opening ceremony". Sophie gave a kind of professional smile. "It'd be great for relations if a digimon attends the opening of the agency that would protect Earth from bad digimon" she reasoned.

K wasn't sure what to think about this 'human' form that she was granted with such an item/ It felt somewhat plain but she imagined that she would be able to pick out something a bit more fitting when she managed to get to the digital world proper.
"Feels a little odd to say the least, but I can get used to this. I'll get less stares that's for sure."
She'd snort softly and Turn to face Tadao and his partner. She'd dip her head in a nod when Tadao spoke to her. He was certainly part of the somewhat friendly group of humans; cautious from what she could tell and rightfully so. Any digimon that was an unknown to hum could be a problem after all.
"Likewise Tadao. Everyone has to start somewhere and I'd be glad to lend a hand if you need it sometime in the future."
K gave the human a small smile and watched him go before turning back to Sophie; scratching her head softly as she was still trying to get used to this form. Sophie explained that the main office would be opening soon and then even asked if K would attend.
"Hopefully, but I imagine as time passes I'll come to know more."
There was a brief pause and she'd grow thoughtful at the idea of coming to such an event.
"I'll likely be in the area for a good portion of time, I wouldn't mind coming to such an event. Hopefully I'm not the only one huh?"
A small chuckle and she'd offer a hand for a shake; figuring that they were done for the moment as the digimon and human didn't really have much more to discuss.
"I can imagine that there are other digimon out there that would rather not have the human collective hate them for the actions of some misguided ones."

Sophie was at least glad that K was open to the use of a holosuit. This would make things much more easier if she chose to stay on Earth. It was probably hopeless with the events of the past hour when two digimon were marched boldly in the light of day through the crowd of humans in the Shibuya subway station, but, if only K was open to the use of the holosuit and could stay her digimon instincts. Sophie had not forgotten the aggressive words K had spoken at the start of their encounter. But, she was at least satisfied that K was a good digimon that could adapt to new situations and not act in a way that would threaten the human world.
While there was still elements of hesitance in Sophie's opinion of the Shutmon, well, for the moment, K had not acted in aggression for a moment and had also proved herself to be socially adequate digimon, so, she hoped that this was a digimon that could help them in the long term.
"Yeah, that's the best way for us to move forward" Sophie replied to K. "Learn more about each other so we can continue a peaceful relationship". Sophie couldn't help but chuckle a little from saying this. "I mean... heh, I don't know if the full impact is evident for you, but, the fact that I'm standing here speaking with a degree of accord with a being from another world... this is something that very few other humans have experienced. I feel like it's something of a privilege if I can be honest".
K mentioned that she would likely lay low and remain in an area for a measure of time. Sophie nodded. "Okay, that sounds good" she said. It was best to have holosuited digimon remain in the same place so they could keep on having their support from AEGIS in preventing their detection and from there, general panic.
K offered a handshake, and Sophie accepted it in return, initially a little nervous of the claws, but K had so far conducted herself professionally and she had no fear that it would end badly. She smiled when it was over.
"Okay then, thank you for being so cooperative, K, we really appreciate it, and we hope that you can figure out your problems. If you can't, we'd be happy to help you out too". It was the least she could offer this Perfect level digimon in exchange for her very patient cooperation with her this day.
