Colin took a look at the handheld device that Yaku was holding. He frowned, it was a piece of technology he hadn't seen before. But thankfully his partner Luke was better skilled at gadgetry. The Elecmon examined it closely too.
"I see, so this is a device that can capture digimon data" he mused. "A little intimidating, but given it is DATS made it's not surprising that they'd make something like this".
They listened as Yaku explained about Astamon. At least Colin and Luke did. Bellamy smirked and folded his arms, assuming a cocky expression.
"I think I know a bit about Astamons, given that he's my Perfect level form" the Impmon said. "Although I didn't do anythin' bad when I was in it" he assured them.
"Bells, hush" Lantis told him, given that Yaku was presenting them with serious information. Yaku then outlined his crimes and damage, making Colin take on a more serious expression.
"I see. That sounds pretty heavy" he admitted. But given that Sophie had asked him here to take on a task, he would take it seriously. "But don't worry. We can take him to see Yuu Tsuruma, the leader of PROFIT and she'll deal with him. She's an enforcer so presumably she'll know his records. Astamon will likely be reverted back to his baby level and be barred from evolving past Rookie indefinitely until he's repented for his crimes".
Sophie was glad to hear that. She took note, that was probably something that AEGIS could look into? Rather than killing criminal digimon, simply restricting their evolution might be a solution of justice? Low level digimon were far less dangerous than high level ones anyway.
"So, is that all, Mr- I mean, Agent Tridori?" Colin asked. If so, he would accept the device and take it to Kongou Island on the digital world, where Astamon would face justice from the enforcers of PROFIT.

"Interesting... how do they do that?" He asked, curious. "It sounds like it would be something that would kind of have to be automated... perhaps some kind of special collar or implanted device?" He asked. They probably weren't that, actually, but those were the only things he could imagine at that moment. He smiled at being called Agent. It made him feel important again. Yaku looked at the impmon as it bragged, skeptical in its claim of "not doing anything bad". Impmon, in his experience, were notorious liars.
"You mentioned an organization called Profit. What exactly do they do, other than enforce the law on crooks like my old friend, here. I imagine they'd have some useful information gatherers that could help me track someone down." He knew it was a long shot, but he probably would get to speak to someone at profit directly any other time. He passed the photo to Colin. "I can tell you the details later, but she's a missing person and I haven't been able to find her since I got back from the Digital world."

Now that Yaku mentioned it, Colin did wonder how they restricted digimon levels. It was all kind of new technology to him. But Luke spoke instead.
"There's been a substance discovered recently that restricts digimon evolution levels" the Elecmon stated. "It's been called "Black Digicite" by some researchers, but, basically, it can be used to restrict digimon levels in close proximity".
"Hmm... I've heard of that" Lantis remarked. "These strange towers have been appearing around the digital world that restrict evolution beyond Rookie. Do you think they're related?"
Luke nodded. "I think they are, and we need to take notice of them. But I've seen the personal evolution restriction chips work on criminal digimon before, and I can vouch for them being effective without physical harm to the digimon, so, I don't have a problem with them".
Bellamy was a little quiet in all this, but this was because he chose to remain silent. Whether it was because it was technobarble above his level of understanding, or because he had problems with the ethics of using black digicite, it was unknown. He also didn't like the look Yaku gave him, but remained silent on that too. But he'd question him if he looked at him like that again.
Yaku then asked what the purpose of PROFIT was. Colin was eager to reply. "Well, our main aim at PROFIT is to use our time, energy and effort in return for bits" he said. "If there's any job that needs to be done in the digital world that no others can do, we do it. I guess it's a kind of effort to bring the idea of economy to digimon? But I'm a bit young to know how that sort of thing works. Just if anyone needs our help and is willing to pay a fee, we'll be there".
Sophie thought that was a bit of an unsuitable description and decided to add. "Of course, PROFIT never engages in any illegal activities though" she said. "If they received such a request, they would refuse it and report to their authority".
"Yeah, we do that" Colin added, realizing it was a DATS Agent he was talking to here, someone who would have had authority over him as a tamer, years ago. But then again, DATS was no longer. But he would treat Yaku with respect regardless.
Yaku then mentioned information gathering. Colin was interested, and the elder man said that he wanted to know about a missing person.
"Hmm. Well, we can do what we can" Colin said. "Since you're working with my sister, I can mark this down as a personal thing rather than a business thing if that's okay. But I will say that we mostly deal with digital world things..."
"Um. Colin" Bellamy said to his partner. "We're digimon. This might be able to be tracked down over the internet".
"Yeah, give us a few hours on a laptop with wifi and we might just be able to find something" Luke added, then turned to Yaku. "What's some information we can use about this missing person?" he asked.
While this was going on, Sophie raised her eyebrows at Lantis. "You... can do this too you know" she told him.
"No I can't, I don't know jack about your human internet" Lantis shrugged. Sophie sighed. She'd have to tell Lantis to work with the twins to learn more if he was going to be a respectable leader digimon of AEGIS.

"Strange towers and a mysterious substance?" He asked, skeptical. "That you know nothing about but seem to trust simply because they're there? ...This does need further investigations, notes, studies, uh, a lot of work to see if there's a source or some kind of creator we should look for. A cult or religion, perhaps?" Yaku thought aloud. "I'd be willing to accompany you on the research into these things, perhaps a fresh pair of eyes might help. I'm not a part of PROFIT but this is something that has potential to be dangerous."
He didn't like the descriptions of PROFIT, mercenaries for hire were dangerous, and he'd rather not deal with someone who'd be willing to sell him out for a handful of bits. The fact his sister had to remind him of that made him even more skeptical, but he had no better choice it seemed, if he hired a PI and there was a small chance of this being digital world related he'd have to find a way to keep him quiet. "Her name is Tridori Asari, she's my wife. The last time I've seen her in person was three years ago. Our former home is being used as a timeshare by a company I've never heard of, I can't find her family, if DATS had any information on her then I'm worried what might have happened." He looked over the three, worried. "I will pay you any amount of money if you find her alive, bits are nothing compared to her."

Yaku's words startled Luke a little, but the Elecmon gathered his composure fairly quickly. "For the time being, this substance has performed according to its purpose. Since the collapse of DATS we've been forced to improvise with what we can".
Thus far, since DATS had crumbled, they had been forced to improvise with dealing with digimon justice. And this new subtance, black digicite, which prevented evolution was one of their best means of allowing an evil digimon to repent for their crimes without outright killing them. And this was something that Luke was appreciative of. Bellamy, not so much, the Impmon crossing his arms and looking uncomfortable.
But Luke looked up as Yaku mentioned that there might be more research into this substance. "Oh, yeah, if you have any more information about this substance that'd be great" he said. Hopefully that could be a good outcome, that Yaku could tell exactly how to seal a digimon's power without such a strange unknown substance.
Colin then took note of the name. "Tridori Asari... okay, I haven't heard of that name, but, we might be able to make some headway into narrowing it down" he said. He looked to his partners.
"Of course, we can do what we can to find her" Luke said. "If she's in the digital world, I think we have enough resources at our disposal to find her. But if she's on Earth, I can't promise that much unfortunately, we can't operate too heavily there".
So that seemed to be the issue. Colin and his partners were aware of many illicit gangs that operated in the digital world. Perhaps they could track down Yaku's wife if she had been kidnapped? Of course, it wouldn't be easy if it had taken this long.

He felt genuine relief as the three accepted his offer. The digital world was like a second home to him now, this black substance worried and confused him as a result. "Have you noticed any effects on humans who come in contact with it?" He asked. "Obviously you wouldn't be using it if there was anything extreme but anything is something that may warrant precautionary steps." He bowed again, looking over the three.
"Other than that, I think our business is concluded. You can contact me through AEGIS. If you could copy that photo and give me back the original as soon as possible it would be very nice of you as well." He turned back to Sophie. "Sorry about ignoring you, ma'am. Is there anything else we need to discuss or should we regroup around the same place at the same time tomorrow for my first assignment?"

"No, there hasn't been any effect on humans so far" Colin said. "In fact I was the one that touched it when I found it, it just felt like ordinary iron to me. But... I wouldn't use my digivice around it".
"Yeah, tell me about it" Bellamy frowned at it. But Luke seemed to be on board with all of the goings on.
"The black digicite in this device seems to only affect the digimon it's touching, so, it should be fine" he said. "All we need is to force him into constant contact with it, then once we know it's safe to do so, we'll remove it".
Still though. There was something about the black digicite that Sophie wasn't really comfortable with. Lantis could feel it too. There just wasn't something right with it. Then Yaku said that they could copy the photo and return the original. "Oh! Don't worry about that" Colin said, taking his D-Terminal from his pocket. He activated its camera function and took a photo of the face. He then handed it back to Yaku.
"So then, we'll be on our way now" Colin said, waving. "See ya later, sis, and, we'll do what we can, Yaku".
With that, Colin and his partners returned to the digital world to put justice to Astamon. With that, Sophie turned to Yaku as he addressed her.
"Yes, I think that's all for now" she answered. "I think we can make a fresh start on things tomorrow. I look forward to working with you, Agent Tridori" she finished, noting that he seemed to appreciate that title.
With that, they would finish up their business in the makeshift office, and hopefully soon move to their headquarters.
