There was a saddening duality to this place. Remnants of battles fought and the area desperately trying to pull itself back to its former glory gave this place a haunting, melancholic feel. Toki had noticed it before on his first time in the Digital World but this was the first time he had taken the time to actually look at it all. What happened here? What conflicts tore this place apart? Part of him wanted to know while another was scared to know.
"...There's always a glimmer of light to balance the darkness...one will never truly overtake the other." said a voice.
Toki looked around, trying to find the source of the voice, but then looked at his scanner "Turuiemon?" he said. There was no answer. He sighed heavily "Come on...please...talk to me." he pleaded. Why didn't Turuiemon ever speak to him for more than a few sentences? Everyone else who had a spirit seemed to have spirits that were more talkative.
"You're scared of me...and of the future totems." it replied sadly. It would stop talking after that. It was rather uncharacteristic of the spirit, as up until now it was always trying to give advice and encouragement. Now it seemed more similar to Toki than ever before. Fragile, self-conscious, and just as worried as he was.
"W-wait, I'm not...!" Toki shouted before he sat down on the grass. Turuiemon was right. He was scared. Every time he thought about fighting, all he could think about was that day in high school where he sent someone to the hospital for attacking him. It was self defense, so why did it bother him so much? "If I could almost kill someone just from an accident...what could I do with the powers of a Digimon...?" he said to himself, running his hand through his hair "I don't want to hurt anyone like that...! But I want to help..." he sat there in his internal struggle, trying to come to terms with what protecting the Human and Digital Worlds might bring. Alicia said he couldn't just go into this with barely any effort. He had to commit, and that meant learning how to deal with situations he wasn't comfortable with. "Yes, I am scared, Turuiemon...but not of you. I'm scared of what I'll be able to do in the future, but I don't want to be. I want to be strong....for you, for the Digital World...for me..." he rested on his back and looked up at the sky. At that moment he felt a little closer to Turuiemon. Still not very talkative, but their presence was certainly more apparent.

"This was a place of peace once, now it serves as just an earnest reminder of things better left undone. Justice was dealt here; once way or the other."
"And? What would you say was the point of this place is for him?"
"A lesson. One that needs learnt. One that he needs to know, and one we know how to tell."
The soft almost angelic sounding voice wasn't being projected from a digivice. No it was being spoken out loud. The creature it belonged to was certainly one that held respect both to and from others. It among other things was the thing that Toki would desire to understand, to better himself in a fashion.
The digital spirit shifted it's sword and stepped onto the plains proper, brown fur and metalic armor shining softly in the sun. It looked around slowly pure blue eyes sweeping across the plains. They had set up a meeting with Toki before coming here. Figuring that the young man could make his own way here; it'd allow him to experience things and he wouldn't be overburdened by being with another person in the digital world. Sometimes having more people with you ruined the experience.
Then there was a shout, it cut through the plains like a knife. The digimon exhaled softly and gently trotted towards the source. Passing by the remnants of the battle that was fought and long overdue once again. The tall digital spirit stood out from the surroundings, not because of it's height or because of it's making. But simply.. it just did not belong. Finding the individual responsible for the shout the digital spirit's face broke into a smile. It'd get closer and stand a good bit away from the young man, coughing to gain the individuals attention before speaking.
"Frustration and it's ilk are common in the digital world. Hello again Toki. We haven't officially met yet, but I am Silvermon. You had questions for kan last time, but I believe that I can answer quite a few of them better than he can. But he can also answer any questions you have of him, seeing as he's still here."
The digital spirit put a hand to it's chest and let out a smooth chuckle...

Toki stood up when he heard the voice of Silvermon behind him. He stood up to face the spirit and bowed respectfully "Thank you both for coming. I've...never really seen anything quite like this. Sometimes I wonder if I'm still in some kind of dream and I'm recovering in a hospital somewhere." he chuckled a bit. "I know this is real, though. I couldn't imagine all of this with the life I've lived. At least it's given me some things to think about." he smiled slightly before he continued to why he wanted to meet with them. "Another spirit user told me about the totems already and that they'll be known to me when they feel like I'm ready. Though there are some other things I want to know...why are there spirits at all? Why don't they just...reform in the Village of Beginnings? Why do they choose humans to use their power? Are we...can we even be considered truly human anymore?" he asked, worried about some of these questions. "I understand if some of them can't really be answered..."
He looked at his D-Scanner "After the first battle I had where I first met my spirit I haven't been able to use its power. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or if I'm just not ready to use it yet. This is something I want to learn how to do. If I don't even know how to become my spirit, I'm not going to be able to do everything else." he explained. He hoped that Silvermon and/or Kan would be able to give him some kind of idea on how Spirit Evolution worked. Throughout all of this he was glad Silvermon seemed to be the patient sort. It had an aura of one that didn't demand respect, simply one that was worthy of respect. The idea that one day he and his spirit might have that sort of affect on others was intimidating.

Silvermon's eyebrows rose and gave a little smile to Toki before returning the bow. The spirit chuckled lightly and looked around the plains; looking somewhat at ease in this location. Though it likely could fight on a moments notice if something went amiss.
"It has it's beauties, it has it's dangers. A place of pristine interest; one worth dreams. I can understand the sentiment."
The spirit folded it's arms and peered at the other spirit user. When mentioning another spirit user it furrowed it's brow thoughtfully, stroking the underside of it's chin thoughtfully.
"They are certainly correct on that aspect, however it can be different. Not every spirit is the same after all."
There was a small shrug that followed it's statement and it looked rather thoughtful when asked a few questions. It got a sad look in it's eyes when it started to explain.
"Because eventually data can only be reused so much, some of us are forced into it. Some of us don't have enough data to go back into the cycle of things. The champion that Kan has, Shattermon literally is broken and battered in comparison to what it once looked like. We ask humans to use our powers to experience the world again, some will do it out of a sense of justice and some just simply want balance. Others may not have reasons for the ventures into being a spirit."
There was a brief moment where Silvermon frowned and it hummed gently at that last question.
"Do you breathe, do you bleed, do you feel pain? Do you remember who you are? Do you remember where you've been? Do you remember what it feels like to look up at the sky at night and see the stars? You are still human, you will only ever be human. Being a spirit user is a mantle of trust between living and dead. You step across the bridge to dabble in the side that is willing or not to give you power for better or worse."
Silvermon stepped closer looking at the D-Scanner with abject interest, it's ears perked up and a small smile spread across it's face.
"A spirit of battle perhaps? Maybe when a fight is afoot is when you can use it? Has it spoken to you at all?"
Silvermon would tilt his head and tut softly.
"A relationship between you and your spirit is important, understanding one another. Push and pull; knowing what one wants and what one needs. What does your spirit want? What does it need? Becoming a spirit is as easy as breathing once you get used to it. Becoming your spirit is something..."
The spirit paused again and gently rubbed it's muzzle.
"...That is simple but difficult. To be your spirit, you must first believe in yourself. Believe in what you do, what you want. What you need. You be you. They will be themselves and will allow you to wear their mantle."
Silvermon grinned a bit and set it's sword down firmly in the ground, point first and it'd gesture to Toki. A single finger if allowed to firmly press against his chest.
"So I ask you toki. What is it you want? Who are you?"

Toki listened to Silvermon's words and hung on each one. So even Digimon eventually 'grow old' so to speak. One day they just stop reincarnating and exist as a relic of a bygone era. How long was Turuiemon waiting, he wondered. He clutched the scanner closer to his chest, a look of contemplation in his eyes.
Silvermon's speech on how he is still, and will always be human, soothed his worried heart. So far, the only changes he had seen when he met his spirit were positive. He felt more confident and open with people. While he still struggled, he was doing much better than he had in the past. He began to focus on the scanner to feel for Turuiemon's presence.
In his mind he saw his own spirit across from him. "You wish to know why I chose you, Toki?" it finally asked. "It's because you're like me. You have only experienced a fragment of your life...and I only remember a fragment of my own. We're both broken...missing many experiences from our own existences. However, we both desire the same thing. Peace. Companionship. To make a true, good difference. That's all I can remember about myself...and I want your help, Toki. I am sorry for my silence. I was scared about how I might have affected you. I see now you have the resolve. My power is yours now. Use it to make our lives truly special...my friend."
Toki listened to his spirit explain to him how it felt and why it chose him. He smiled warmly "It's more than a spirit of combat. It's a protector. A guardian...and someone who values companionship and unity. Someone who wants to make a true difference in the world." he started to feel a real bond with the spirit. In order to reach both of their goals, Toki had to shed away that insecurity and stand on his own two feet. Only then will he and Turuiemon truly be able to move forward.
When Silvermon asked him what it was he wanted to do and who he was, Toki thought back on the dojo. He was more than just his father's pupil. More than someone who just needed to learn to fight to protect himself. He looked at Silvermon with a determined gaze "I am Toki Akiyama. And I want to protect this world and those who walk it." he stepped back and took a deep breath as he extended his hand. The familiar energy swirled around his hand as Toki smiled. "Welcome back..." he ran the energy across the D-Scanner "Spirit Evolution!" he shouted. A bright light surrounded his form as data shimmered around him before dispersing. Turuiemon landed in front of Silvermon. He looked at himself and clenched his fists. He seemed delighted and proud of himself for even reaching this stage again "I was scared at first. Worried that...I wouldn't have a partner like so many others here in the Digital World. But I don't have to worry about that anymore."

Silvermon watched Toki quietly as they drank in the information that the spirit had provided him. He'd cross his arms and wait, letting the young man think about things or at least that's what he assumed that he was doing. The spirit's brows shot up in surprise as that smile crossed the youth's face. Explaining out what the spirit was.
"Making a Difference in the world is hard, every apple has the potential of growing a tree but spend too long to find the place to put their seed. It's a dangerous but ultimately fruitful desire if done correctly. A guardian and protector... Sounds like you have a better grasp on whom your spirit is."
There was the follow up to his questions about what Toki wanted to do and whom the individual was. There was that determined gaze and the Spirit's face broke in a grin. It sounded quite like how you would expect one of those angels to sound, hellbent on protecting others and such. Or what you would expect the knights to be. The spirit tilted his head when they took a step back, the deep breath making their ears perk and swivel forward.
He wasn't expecting the spirit to be so quick to accept the youth; but it certainly made the other spirit concerned about the resolve this other digital spirit may have. When the digimon landed in front of Silvermon he unfolded his arms and drew out his sword from the ground, letting it hang limply on it's belt once more.
"Everyone is scared at some point in their life, Worry not. You were chosen for a reason of course, like every human that steps into the digital realm. Others are not like you and you are not like others. You are yourself and no one else. You will protect others, you will help others without meaning to or even thinking about it."
The digimon would take a step forward offering a handshake firm to the newly digivolved spirit, if they accepted it'd be something like what you'd expect ancient knights to do by clasping forearms.
"You can count yourself among those to do the right thing, but remember not to forget where you came from for there will be others that do the same. That will need guidance. We will do what we can to help you, but in the end."
The spirit took a long breath and exhaled, the next part drawling out.
"It is you that can only help yourself."

Toki clasped his hand around Silvermon's in a firm shake. "Thank you. Both of you." he said as he bowed his head respectfully. "My spirit is Turuiemon. It also appreciates your guidance with every ounce of its being." he said.
He went over several of his kata to gain his balance in this form. Physically and mentally, Toki seemed to be sound. This could be attributed to how disciplined Toki's mind could be when he had a task he had to focus on. Whether or not this would last whenever he gains higher level totems is something only time would be able to tell. "It's...almost overwhelming. I have to keep focused on what I do...and staying focused with Turuiemon." he said, looking a little bit tired after a while. Soon, Toki would revert to normal and put his scanner away.
Toki looked over the horizon and came to a decision "I think I will wander the Digital World for a while and see where that takes me. There must be a lot to see and a lot of people to meet." he said, happy with his choice "There's no shame in receiving help from others, but you're right. In the end, I am the only one who can help myself in the long term. Who I become...that's up to me." he said. "So...Silvermon, Kan...is there any place you would recommend I see first?"

"It's a pleasure to meet it of course. There will be much to do and learn, much to focus on."
Silvermon would tilt his head, raising their brow slightly when the other spoke again. Saying that it was almost overwhelming and that they have to keep focused. It made sense seeing as how kan didn't have much control in the start of everything. Silvermon would nod slowly, rubbing it's neck after a few moments of thought.
"Eventually it falls by the wayside and you don't have to think about it much, it comes with practice. It can be very draining if you're not used to it either. Which is why Kan is able to do it for so long. Regulation and control are important after all."
Silvermon flicked an ear as Toki said that they would wander the digital world, alluding to there being much to see and many people to meet. The spirit could say that these guesses were spot on. The digital world was huge and had much to partake in.
"There is, it's a whole new place for you. A whole new world to explore. Just never lose sight of what you want or who you want to be; else you might get into some darker places."
Silvermon crossed it's arms, looking thoughtful about the next question. It'd furrow it's brow for a few seconds before snapping it's fingers and grinning.
"Terminus is a good place to go, get a feel of things. It's a city so of course living in japan means you'd be more comfortable there correct? I'd say travel between each of the cities. Whitewater, Luminas and Terminus are the major ones that I can think of immediately. Though Luminas can be difficult to get to if you don't fly or have the bits for an airship."

He nodded, content with the answer that better control over the spirit form will come with time. It's just like everything else, and one gets better with time. "I've got a lot ahead of me, don't I? I already made the decision that this world is where I'll truly understand who I am, so that isn't going to slow me down." he looked around at some of the still beautiful parts of the plains "I hope I'll be able to see this place how it used to be someday. If it can recover from this, it will be a reminder to me that such damage doesn't have to last forever. Call me overly optimistic, but...I think this place will come back stronger than ever."
"I'll never forget what I want to be...who I want to be. I can't lose sight of that, and I won't. I've lived too long living how someone else wanted me to live...it's time I stood up for myself and lived how I want to and make decisions because I want to." he said, ready to move on with his life. "And to start, my decision is that I'm going to help people. How I'll help them I'm not sure...but I have to at least try."
"Terminus? That place next to the Trailmon Terminal leading back to Shibuya? Huh..." he seemed a bit nervous "Well I still don't do very well in crowds. I only just moved to Tokyo from a small town in Ishikawa, so I'm still not used to city life." he admitted. "But there's probably a lot of things to learn there that will help with my journey, so I'll try to get used to it."
When Silvermon mentioned bits, he was confused for a moment, then remembered "Oh! The currency of the Digital World, right...I'm going to need to find a way to make some too..." he pondered to himself and wondered what he could do.
