Marshal's nap didn't last very long. For some reason, he had the feeling that something big was going on, so he stepped out of his room and into the main foyer, bringing Finn along with him. Once they got down the stairs, they saw Colin and his Digimon talking with Coronamon and a Gazimon they didn't recognize.
"Yo," Marshal greeted. "What'd I miss?"
"A bit more than you'd think," Coronamon answered. "First of all, Bellamy and I are engaged now."
Marshal was stunned, but a grin quickly formed across his face. He had to contain himself from jumping up and down, he was so happy! Could it really be true? The pendant around Coronamon's neck all but confirmed it! "I'm so happy for you guys!" he said, still restraining his boundless joy.
"Also, we...have a new addition to the family," Coronamon added. "Meet Gaz, our new daughter."
Marshal chuckled. He still wasn't sure if this made him a grandpa or anything, but having another new face around wouldn't hurt! She seemed mature enough to at least keep Finn in line. "Nice to meet you," he said, smiling plainly.
Finn went up and sniffed at Gaz. He was quite a bit bigger than her, but way less mature somehow. "You're my...sister?"

It was kinda hard to figure out what the biggest news here was. While of course Bellamy was absolutely thrilled at the prospect of finally marrying the digimon he loved, he supposed that there was a bunch of other things to get in order first.
And yet, he didn't feel angry at Gaz for complicating things at all. If anything, she was the proverbial cherry on top of it all. Alongside his beloved son Finn. It just... made it all feel like it was all right. While them having Finn as their first child might have seemed like a surprise, but, now that they had two children, it felt like that they were a solid, glorious family.
Gaz meanwhile looked around at the eyes that were gazing at her. "Heh, wow, somethin' of a sausage fest here" she joked, but she didn't really mind that her family was virtually all male. After all, to a digimon, gender didn't mean much. And she never really pictured herself as an object of feminity, so, she'd roll with what was here.
"Heh, yeesh, Gaz, you should know we digimon don't have 'sausages'" Bellamy muttered to her. Gaz chuckled a little, then supposed she'd best bring no further attention to this.
Eventually, Gaz turned to Finn, who asked if they were siblings. Gaz could tell at once from his eyes and accent that they were.
"Heh, yep, that's right" she said, clasping his paw. "Great to meet you at last, brother" she said, honestly thrilled to meet a digimon with her kind of data, that had come from the same source.
With all this in mind, Colin was a bit unsure about what to say next. Other than "Well... I guess with this news we should have some kind of celebration tonight?" he suggested.

Finn wasn't really sure what to make of Gaz as she grabbed on to his giant paw. He sniffed at her some more, then finally decided that she was good. He grinned at her goofily and shook her paw up and down, likely causing the smaller creature to be lifted up and down jarringly.
Marshal smiled as Colin suggested they celebrate all the good news. "I couldn't agree more," he said in response. "Let's throw a party right here on the island!" He turned to Coronamon. "I don't suppose that surprise is ready yet, is it?"
Coronamon thought hard for a moment. "It's not complete yet, but I think we could give it a test run for a celebration!" He rushed out the door in a flash, and Marshal motioned for the others to follow.

Gaz was glad that Finn seemed to recognize her as his sister. "Hey! Don't think ya can get out of a hug that easily!" she said, giving him a proper cuddle. Even if he was bigger than her, she still put a lot of strength and love into it. This guy was family after all!
And furthermore it seemed Marshal agreed with the idea of a celebration. But at once, Bellamy, Colin and Luke were curious about the mention of a surprise. "Surprise? What?" the Impmon asked, then looked at his fiance. "Oh geez, babe, were you gonna surprise me with somethin'?" he asked, a bit worried he had spoiled something by pouncing in first with the question of marriage.
"Aw, Bells, don't panic like that, you're still getting married" Luke said, patting his brother's back with a grin. "So then! Let's go see this surprise then, guess there's no hiding it now" he reasoned. And so the group followed Marshal and Coronamon to whatever their surprise was.

Coronamon lead the pack through the streets of the island city. After a bit of time, they happened upon an unassuming building. If Bellamy was observant, he would possibly recognize this place before they even walked in. "Welcome," the little lion greeted, "to the new and improved Flamme Leon!" Coronamon opened the door and ushered everyone in. The only one this place would be familiar to would be Bellamy, if he remembered back to his past life. This was the restaurant where the two had originally met, all those years ago. Coronamon's memory of his past life was still spotty at best, but he could definitely remember every detail of this restaurant after the group went to go see Majiramon.
"He's been having a group from Terminus come to the island in secret for quite a while now to build a copy of the old building," Marshal explained. "He thought it would be a good way not only to get some visitors to the island, but also jog some of his old memories."
"Have a seat!" Coronamon insisted. "I'll have some celebration food ready for us all in a flash! Just let me know what you want, I can probably make it!" He had an energy and passion that not many would ever see from him at the moment. He was getting married, after all! This was a time to be happy and celebrate!
"You know, I haven't had one of your steaks in a while," Marshal remembered. "Why don't you make one of those for me?"
"Ooh, steak!" Finn squeaked, excited by the prospect of food.
Coronamon nodded and turned to Colin and the others, waiting expectantly.

Bellamy was curious as to why they were being led this far away from their mansion. Surely if it was a small one Coronamon could've taken it there? But, it might just be a bit bigger than he was imagining.
Indeed, the Impmon could smell what it was before he could see it. But his lips curled into a smile and remained silent. This smile became an awed grin as they entered Coronamon's new restaurant. Boy, this great day was getting even better!
"Now we're talkin'!" Gaz exclaimed, delighted at the prospect of food. She thought this might happen, given that she had some partial memory of one of her dads being a cook.
"Coronamon... this place..." Bellamy began, remembering the layout. "It's... that place in Terminus right?"
"Hm?" Luke asked. He had not been present that night. But Bellamy was. And somewhere in the back of her mind from her borrowed memories, Gaz remembered too. Bellamy gave a chuckle and hugged Coronamon warmly, glad to see such a place again.
Then the time came to order, and Bellamy made his choice carefully. Something that would satisfy his appetite, yet not tire him out for later. After all this today, he was gonna rock his fiance's world tonight.
"How about a rack of lamb, babe?" he asked, looking forward to it. Colin and Luke meanwhile both ordered some Chicken Parmigana, while Gaz was feeling really hungry.
"Can I have a mixed grill, dad?" she asked, looking forward to some nice variety.

Coronamon smirked as Bellamy gazed in awe at this blast from the past. "It's exactly like the old building, at least all the details I could remember. My former apartment is upstairs too, if we ever need some...privacy." He didn't really bother trying to sugarcoat it, since the family pretty much knew about their exploits at this point.
Everyone barely finished ordering before Coronamon whipped around and dashed back to the kitchen, throwing on an apron and his chef's hat as he did so. He hadn't gotten to cook for his whole family like this before, so this was an especially exciting treat he'd get to give to them to celebrate his own engagement. Coronamon was truly over the moon, and he didn't feel like anything could beat this feeling.
Marshal, while feeling happy for his partner, didn't feel entirely happy himself. The others could probably tell at least that something was troubling him, as his emotions were a bit more...available since they had lost Ryu. It was great to see that Coronamon was starting to take the steps toward the next chapter in his life, but Marshal still wasn't sure what he would be doing even three months from now. Would he still be able to be a Tamer? Of course, there was still some business that he had to take care of in the Digital World if it came to that, and some promises to keep. "So, how soon is this wedding going to happen? Are we going on our expedition first?" There were a lot more questions running in his head, but perhaps overwhelming everyone with his ramblings wasn't a good idea.
Finn, meanwhile, had snuck away from the table and into the kitchen with his dad. "Can I help, Dad?" he asked innocently, wanting to be as close to the food as possible just as much as he wanted to be of assistance.
Coronamon smiled as he threw down a steak on the grill. "That would be fantastic, actually. There's a lot of food to make, and having some help would really speed things up. Go wash those claws, though! Gotta be clean to work in my kitchen!"
Finn grinned and ran over to the sink, immediately setting to work on making sure his hands were the cleanest they had ever been.

Bellamy grinned at the mention of the apartment. "Well then, I know where I'm sleepin' tonight" he winked back. "Ah who am I kiddin', doubt we'll be getting much sleep tonight".
"Christ, dad, will you stop?!" Gaz asked blushing from embarrassment. Bellamy chuckled, but did stop, instead resolving to sit down at the table, running his claw around a wine glass as he daydreamed of what life would be like after he was married to the digimon that he loved.
Colin and Luke meanwhile were still a little stunned by the news, honestly, a digimon like Bellamy seriously considering marriage? Well, he had at least shown that he was loyal as hell to those that he loved, so they supposed it wasn't all that surprising.
Eventually, Colin turned to Bellamy and asked a question that was on his mind. "So, how exactly does a digimon wedding work?" he asked. "There's you two getting married, what else do we need? I haven't really seen a church here in the digital world".
He pictured something of an outdoor setting, with all of their friends watching the two make their vows. There was Coronamon standing with a little black tuxedo and white shirt with a carnation on the front, probably without pants. And Bellamy at his side in a pretty white dress and-
"DAMN IT I AIN'T WEARIN' NO DRESS!" Bellamy suddenly snapped. Okay okay, yeesh, so Bellamy would be up there wearing a matching outfit.
"I mean... is there any officials that deal with this kind of thing?" Colin asked Luke.
"Well... yeah, normally well respected digimon stand as witness to the wedding vows..." Luke began. "We'll probably have to set up something nice too. Maybe hold it in Whitewater? Since that's where you met him, Bells"
"Oh yeah, that's right" Bellamy agreed. "Wait, no, that's not true! We met all the way back in Terminus. Remember? We met Yuu and Kyo first, then Marshal and Coronamon came along soon after".
"Ah! Right" Colin said, the memory of that day returning all at once. Bellamy was just a little bouncy Yaamon at the time, and Luke a fuzzy red Wanyamon. They had evolved to rookie later on in the day. "Well, maybe we can hold it wherever you guys like".
Then Marshal asked when they were holding the wedding. Bellamy remembered the upcoming expedition to the dark area, and his expression shifted a little as bad feelings swelled up. "I think after" he said. "We should have it when we're feelin' good".
Colin was a little unsure, but, alright. If that was what they wanted then he respected that.
"Wait, what expedition is this?" Gaz asked, curiously.
"One that you're not goin' on" Bellamy answered. Gaz was a little startled at that, but before she could ask why, Bellamy shook his head. "The Dark Area ain't no place for a digimon that can't evolve past Rookie" he said.
"The Dark Area...?" Gaz repeated, for a moment confused, then she remembered. "Right... you're goin' after Zanbamon. But..." she did rather want to help, but, supposed there was no hiding from the fact that if she went to help her father, she'd probably cause more problems than she could solve in her current form. "...okay" she said, resigned.
At the moment, delicious smells were wafting from the kitchen. All of them felt excited for the meal that was to come.

Once his hands were washed, Finn made his way back over to Coronamon, ready to work. Coronamon gave him his directions, and the two worked as quickly as possible to get the meal finished.
While they worked, Finn broke the brief spell of silence between them. "So, you and Dad are going to be leaving for the Dark Area soon, right?"
Coronamon was a little off-put by his son's sudden shift in tone, but decided to be sincere. "Yes, I believe we are. This is important to your dad and uncle Luke." He wondered why Finn was bringing this topic up now of all times, but quickly put two and two together.
"I...want to go with you!" he blurted out. "I know I didn't reach the Mega level like Dad said, but I've really been working hard! I promise I won't get in the way, I just want to help!"
Coronamon was shocked. This clearly meant a lot to Finn. However, they had made a deal. "You know your father will never agree to it. What level have you managed to reach, anyway?"
Finn looked down at the floor, slightly dejected. "I managed to reach Champion a little while ago, but I wanted to keep it a surprise. I know it's not enough, but expecting Mega is a little crazy. I'm not partnered like you and Dad."
Coronamon sighed. "I know, but this mission is incredibly dangerous. We can't bring you along, and that's final. If you can show me that you can reach Ultimate before we leave, then I'll talk to him, but your father's words are final otherwise." Finn looked visibly upset, and Coronamon couldn't blame him, but that was just the way things were at the moment. The two of them worked again in silence until the food was prepared.
Marshal listened passively to the conversation around him. His mind was on other things, so he didn't even notice when Finn and Coronamon returned with all their food until it landed in front of him. Coronamon and Finn quickly handed out all the delicious meals and sat down.
"All right, everyone!" he said, "Let's dig in!"

As Coronamon and Finn returned from the kitchen, all eyes were drawn to them and the delicious food they had prepared. But... Bellamy sensed something was wrong. Finn's demeanor had changed a little, and he looked similarly upset as his sister. Had they been discussing something in there? Bellamy wondered if it was a similar conversation.
He gave a sigh. Damn it, going from what Gaz had told him, their children had the same feelings as he did in regards to this Zanbamon. But... taking them to the Dark Area. That was something he couldn't justify. Not a Rookie and Champion. He was pretty sure that human parents didn't bring their children into places like that, even if they were different to digimon, but, Bellamy loved Finn and Gaz as much as any human parent would love their children.
Well, at least when the food was presented in front of them, his mood increased substantially. Enough for him to try and talk to his son. "Hey, Finn, why don't ya sit next to me?" he offered the Guilmon-X. He wanted to catch up with him, given that they hadn't seen each other that much for a while.
From there, Colin, Luke, Bellamy and Gaz dug into their meal, Gaz being particularly surprised at how good it was. "Oh my god, dad, this is awesome!" she exclaimed, her mouth half full.
"Gaz, don't talk with your mouth full" Bellamy said automatically. "Er, I mean..." he corrected himself when he realized that he was telling someone to mind their manners. "Maybe... uh... swallow your food before talkin', eh? Can't hear ya properly".
Luke snorted a little, it was fun seeing Bellamy trying to be both a strict and cool dad at once. Bellamy ignored this and spoke to Finn. "So, son, how's it goin' in your life at the moment? Ya learnin' a lot of stuff?" he asked eagerly.

Everyone began to dig in and eat merrily. Marshal couldn't help but smile as he bit into yet another culinary masterpiece made by the hands of his Digimon partner. He wasn't sure where or why Coronamon had picked up the ability to cook as well as he had, but he certainly wouldn't complain! "Amazing as always!" he said between bites. "Compliments to the chef!"
"I couldn't have done it all so quickly without Finn's help!" Coronamon added. He looked over to his son, who still seemed troubled. Before he could say anything else, Bellamy asked how the Guilmon was doing, and Finn suddenly stood up from the table.
"Dad, I want to go with you and Uncle Luke to the Dark Area!" he exclaimed. "I'm not as weak as you think I am, and I'll prove it to you!"
The whole table fell silent. Not only was that the most sincere and stern tone of voice anyone had ever heard from Finn, it was also pretty jarring. Did he truly intend to fight with Bellamy?

When Finn said his mind, there was silence on the table. Colin and Luke stared between him and Bellamy. Their matching green eyes were locked, and Bellamy's mouth went tight as he tried to come up with what words he needed to say.
How could he let Finn go to the dark area? What with all the dangers there? Not only could he not risk Finn losing his life, but the enemy could use that as a weapon against them too. He wanted Finn and Gaz here, safe and sound. Not being slaughtered and loaded on some hellscape far from home.
When Bellamy spoke, it was startlingly serious. Not his usual friendly jokey voice, but something quiet, yet still able to be heard. Yet he still remained seated. "Finn." he said. "Do you have any idea what it's like in the dark area? What kind of threats are there? What kind of hazards?"
He took a breath to keep his mind clear. "This isn't an ordinary expedition, Finn. Any other journey I would've let you and even Gaz come with us. But here? No. I can't let you. Do you understand? Have you even been in real combat before? Do you know what it's like to be in that kind of danger?"
"Dad... that's enough" Gaz said softly. But it was clear that it would take more than words to convince Bellamy that Finn would be fine to go on such a trip.

Coronamon was a bit shocked to see Bellamy acting serious. It was such a rare occurence, but seeing him this way...it was pretty hot. Coronamon had to bite his lip. As much as he wanted to interject, he didn't want to step on Bellamy's toes. This was definitely something that the two of them had to talk out. Based on what Finn had said to him in the kitchen, he really had been working hard to make sure he could earn his place on Daedalus when they finally set out.
Finn was feeling something that he very rarely felt towards his father: anger. "Of course you wouldn't know if I understood, you've been too busy staring at what's ahead to look back and notice that I've been working my ass off to get stronger so I can help you and Dad! I've trained so hard to reach the level you set for me, but it's not fair! I don't have the help that you do!" It seemed like Finn was starting to tear up. It probably wasn't fair to blame his inadequacies on the fact that he didn't have a human partner, and it certainly wasn't fair to assume that his fathers had it so easy, but he was feeling desparate.
"I'll prove to you that I can fight!" he said. "Fight me, right now!"
Coronamon stood up to stop his son, but Marshal held him back. Coronamon looked back to see his Tamer shaking his head. Coronamon quickly understood what Marshal was trying to say. This was not something he could interfere in. Finn had something to prove, and to do so he would have to fight his own father.

Bellamy's face softened and his eyes widened in surprise. He immediately felt a little bad for denying Finn so adamantly. But... in reality, the Impmon was simply scared of what was ahead. It was the dark area after all, the stuff of nightmares. Colin hadn't faced such danger before. Luke hadn't, and... neither had he.
And he also felt ashamed that he hadn't been paying that much attention to Finn either. He tried, yes, he'd visit Marshal and Coronamon as much as he could so that he could catch up with his son, but, it wasn't enough. He didn't feel that it was enough.
Seeing his son angry with him hurt too. And the worst part was that he felt that he deserved it.
"Finn..." he said. "It's not... I don't think you're not strong enough. It's just..." he struggled to come up with what words he needed to say. "I know one day you'll be a strong digimon. I just know it, but... yeesh, Finn, this is the dark area, you know? I'm sorry I haven't been around..." his eyes were beginning to fill with tears too.
Gaz really didn't know what to make of all this. They were just having a nice meal one moment then this situation just seemed to explode.
Colin could tell the pain that Bellamy felt here. But... he felt like Finn also deserved the chance to prove himself. "Bells... at least give him a chance?" he asked.
"What?!" Bellamy half-yelped. "But..." there was logic in this, the Impmon knew. If Finn could match him or best him in battle, then he would indeed be strong enough to go with them. Yet... that still came with risks. But, if their roles were reversed, how would Bellamy feel?
In an instant, he decided. Bellamy stood from his seat, then looked up at his son's face.
"Then let's do this, son" he said, removing his t-shirt with a swift motion, leaving it on his seat. The purple and white furred Impmon was ready, his scarf and gloves all he needed right now. "Prove to me you're ready for the hell ahead. Let's go outside".
"Oh my god..." Luke breathed, startled by Bellamy's demeanor.

Finn was initially a bit startled that his father had actually accepted his request, but knew he couldn't back down now. He nodded quietly and headed outside, expecting everyone else to follow. Marshal and Coronamon got up from the table and went along with the group, but kept quiet. This didn't seem like the time for chit-chat. They both thought it was crazy how much had happened that day. Coronamon had gotten engaged, they had found their long-lost daughter, and even went to go celebrate both events. How was the night ending with a fight between father and son?
Once they got to a suitable location farther away from all the island's buildings, Finn turned to prepare for battle. "Whenever you're ready," he said, totally stone-faced. He took a beastial fighting stance, and as he did so his eyes changed from their usual pleasant green to frightening yellow slits.
Coronamon watched Finn take his stance, and was suddenly reminded of how big Finn was for a Rookie. He looked downright menacing when he was ready to fight.
