Destiny Waits for No One (Private)

Alicia hummed softly as the exchange of numbers was made, throwing a soft smile to the artist once it was done. Perhaps she could help this young girl like she did with Mitsuko... make her first foray into the Digital World a bit less treacherous. “I am truly sorry for even hinting at such a frightening story... But I’d rather look at someone I helped impress the need for caution upon stay safe even in trying times than... the alternative.”
Despite the grimness from earlier... she could bring herself to utter the finishing line of ‘an empty grave with your name on it’. It probably didn’t need to be said either, so it was likely for the best that she kept that tidbit to herself. “Yes, it is. Regardless of your circumstances, keeping your wits about you is always advisable.”
K seemed curious about their names involving two different words, and the Spirit Wielder looked over. Hitomi beat her to the punch though, with the general idea of the matter. “What Hitomi said. When it comes to humans, a world as large as ours, it’s only a matter of time before someone meets another person with the same first name as them. In such a scenario, the family name is the best way to immediately distinguish which person is being referred to.”
”By the way, now we know if Hitomi has potential in the Digital World or not.” Kisara suddenly quipped, humming.
Alicia, in turn, blinked and turned towards the ice maiden. “Wait, we do? How?”
Sol took the time to answer that question. ”There’s a reaction going on between young Hitomi and the device that will belong to her. Unfortunately it’s a very weak connection... something that should only occur if the Digivice in question is damaged in some way. Much like your brother’s was damaged and rendered inoperable once he left the Digital World behind. This one in particular has had... a terribly rough journey. Nothing to worry about in the end, though.”
Once he was finished, the dragon’s tail whipped around and promptly jabbed towards the precise location of the device in question. ”T’is only appropriate that the proper bearer be the one to lay claim to it with their own hands. However, one of us will be more than willing to lend a hand if the process is... distasteful to you.” With a smile, the dragon spirit nodded to the artist. While he waited for her to make her call, he leaned back and hummed.

To say the least, Hitomi was taking this whole exchange rather well. It was somewhat surprising and the digimon didn't really know how to actually address that other than being supportive about it. She'd watch the brief exchange of information between the two humans and scratch her head curiously.
Was it worth it getting one of those devices here? Maybe if she came here more often but honestly she really doubted that she would be here enough for it currently. The shutmon's brows raised a little bit however when Hitomi explained the whole two name thing.
It made sense, as with a heavy population people would have similar if not repetitious names. But what would you do if two people had the exact same name? Would that create a problem? She'd rub the back of her head and then give it a small shake.
"Don't worry about it, I inquired and you were kind enough to provide an answer."
The Digimon tilted her head a little bit when Alica explained out a little more. Even going into the humans actually using their last names rather than their first to distinguish one another. What would K do if someone inquired what her last name was? The Shutmon rubbed her chin thoughtfully and eyed the two 'spirits'.
Now with the spirits pointing out where the digivice was, K looked rather uncertain. Would the human immediately find out if she had a partner? Or was it something that sort of eased into existance?
"With it being a weak connection does that.. mean something bad?"
Her brow quirked a bit and she considered briefly what it would mean to have a damage digivice. She only knew a few proper users of them; well more now but she could still count them on her 'human' hands.
"How quick do you find out what you are? Spirit, tamer or otherwise?"

Hitomi listened to what was being said to her but was unable to find much of a way to make any statements, she was unsure of how to after all, at least without treading on some sensitive topics. She didn't want to do that around her new group of digital acquaintances. She was sure they had been through quite a lot at this point, no doubt the Digital World would be a walk in the park for her either. It seemed one of those things that was impossible to come back unscathed from.
Then the dragon caught her attention with the claim that there was a device in this pitiful dump that seemed to be reacting to her presence. Was he sure about that? She wasn't exactly expecting it. "Are you sure its reacting to me? It could be to anyone." She reasoned with a doubtful frown.
But the dragon pointed out the precise location of the device in question with his tail, and she could see a tiny flash that came from sunlight reflecting off of something metal. The girl was already moving towards the garbage with a curious sense of purpose. "N-No. I don't see anything that could be corrosive to human skin. Or overly dangerous like a sharp object. And the device doesn't seem to deeply buried either. I think I can manage it." She didn't mind getting dirty once in a while. Sinks and soap did exist for a reason, as long as she didn't cut or damage her skin, or consume food with her bare hands then there was no problem.
Carefully, she began to move the pile of garbage apart until she saw the broken device the dragon had found. True to her guess it wasn't too far into the garbage and she was able to remove it with relative ease.
It was a D-3 model. Grey in coloration and the screen was broken, a few of the buttons were missing and it was covered in scratches. the left side was even torn open, exposing the wiring.
"...I can't help but feel this is a joke." Hitomi said, clearly very unimpressed by the state of "her" device.

Sol shook his head at K’s inquiry. ”Not necessarily. In a worst case scenario it might, but in most cases it could be as simple as the Digivice having existed before it’s intended owner was even born. Another possibility is that it originally had an owner some time ago, but for one reason or another that person has abandoned the Digital World entirely, never to return to it. And, in response, the device was reconfigured and now leads to a new partner. Such a connection, if newly formed, would be quite faint.” The dragon spirit hummed softly, tilting his head. ”Even I don’t know all the ins and outs though. This is mere speculation on my part at this juncture. In the rarest of circumstances, even destiny can be altered...”
”Generally, knowing what type you have requires either acquiring something that is indisputably unique to the style of Digivice you have. A Spirit Totem for a Spirit Wielder, a solo or twin partners for Tamer, or additional partners that you meet after your starting ally for a Xros General. Someone who knows the device types on sight, though, can inform someone even sooner then that. Fortunately, the three of us are such people.” Kisara commented with a smile, as Hitomi spoke up with some doubt.
”Absolutely” the dragon confirmed with a nod. ”To one as ancient as I it is unmistakable.” He looked over and examined the D-3 the young artist had liberated from the pile. He made a small grunt of surprised, having been caught off guard at just how badly damaged the little device was. ”Well. That confirms that the weak connection was due to damage on the device’s part. But rest assured, Hitomi, this is no joke. You are a Tamer, should you choose to take part in the events of the Digital World. Your partner is likely waiting for you at Primary Village in one state or another.”
Alicia took that moment to speak up, nodding to Hitomi. “I might be able to do some patching up to help it hold together a bit better... but ultimately I think time in the Digital World will be enough to start passively repairing it and what it needs most. As long as your will is strong at least. I can bring you to Primary Village and act as a bodyguard if need be, it’s something I’ve done before to help a friend of mine in a situation similar to this.”
The bearer of Steel offered as much of a reassuring smile as she could at that... unfortunately it didn’t really shine through that well. A memory she tripped herself up on, perhaps? Still, her offer was genuine. She did have her Digiport for easy travel and flying was still a good method of locomotion regardless.

"Y-You'd really do that for me?" Hitomi was surprised at how generous the girl's offer was for her. She would never do this for someone she only met a few minutes ago, but at the same time she hadn't been in this kind of situation before. SHe would need all the help she could get.
"C-Can I take you up on that offer? Thank you?" The introverted artist asked gingerly. Though the whole part about the strength of will worried her a little. "But what if my will isn't strong enough?" She asked automatically with a frown, she had never known herself for any kind of valor or loyalty. It had always been within her best interests to avoid any situation requiring such a thing. Then again, this line of thought never helped to prove anyone wrong. If she was going to go into a world full of danger she could not expect to come back without any changes...just like Alicia had said and demonstrated.
Although...meeting a Digimon destined to be her partner for life sounded good...seeing an entirely different world sounded amazing. "I...I think I'd like to see Primary Village. It sounds like a wonderous place." She admitted. "Maybe a good place to sketch something worthwhile." Or a place to meet some new people.

_____________________________________________________________________
It had been a long week since then, she twirled the broke Digivice over in her hands for that entire week as things went along. Sure the danger signs were flashing in her head every time she even considered it, but at the same time the prospects...the mere thoughts...they were too good to ignore.
It took the whole week. But Hitomi had decided, and phoned Alicia stating that she had made up her mind after a lot of time to think. She wanted to go to the Digital World and see if she could track down this so-called partner she was destined to meet after all this time.
Maybe she really could do something worth while after all. __________________________________________________________________________________
So there she was, hanging about back at the river bank. Hitomi was deep in thought and wondering what she was even going to do. "...at least I decided for myself." she said, looking at her broken Digivice again. "Who and...wherever you are...I guess a meeting is long overdue huh?" She asked herself, shaking her head.

The roar of a motorcycle would be the first sign that her contact was on the approach, and soon enough Alicia pulled up on the sleek vehicle and set it on the kickstand, locking it up for safety’s sake after dismounting. The bearer of Steel took a breath to center herself and come over to Hitomi’s side, her expression fairly tightly controlled. It was one thing to do this with Mitsuko, who had already known about the Digital World and resolved to go one day even before they met.
It was another thing entirely with Hitomi. It was because of her that this young artist was now aware of the realm parallel to this world. If something happened to her as a result of choosing to brave the Digital World? Alicia didn’t really know what she’d do with herself.
”You have prepared her as best as she could possibly be prepared. She’s taken your advice and thought it over this entire week. Nothing you say now will sway her from the path she is now taking.”
“That may be so but...” Alicia whispered more to herself, as her advisors were not manifested at the moment. But Kisara cut her off.
”Chill, Alicia. All you can do is safeguard her until she discovers her partner one way or another. You can do that just fine, so stop fretting about it.”
The redhead sighed, wordlessly conceding the point to the two spirits, before pulling her D-Scanner out and preparing to make the portal. “We’re ready when you are. It’s not really advisable to port really close to the village I think, the caretaker can probably get a little testy with something like that out of the blue. So it’ll be a bit of a trek once we’re in the Digital World. For me at least. You’ll see what I mean when we’re on the other side.”
With a slash of the device, once more the portal was peeled open, and Alicia side stepped to allow Hitomi access. “After you.” she finished with a small sweep of her arm towards the portal. “But if you have any second thoughts left, now’s your last chance to back out. Once you walk through this portal, you’ll likely be one hundred percent committed.”
She was worried for this girl. She couldn’t help herself. After all, she was who she was and even she had bit off more than she could chew. So she made one last attempt to make sure Hitomi was really set on this.

Hitomi looked up at the approaching roar of the motorcycle, seeing her new friend Alicia on the approach, most likely with her two Digimon Spirits in tow. The female shuffled nervously, one could not deny that she was beginning to have her last minute doubts. It was probably natural for someone who had never even considered doing anything remotely dangerous in her life. Now she was considering moving into an entire alternate world filled to the brim with danger, all because of a broken Digivice that had started to react to her presence.
Yet despite all of that, there was a deep seated sense within that she couldn't just keep pushing away. The feeling of duty, whatever monster had decided to become partners...or at least wanted to become partners with her...she wasn't going to turn her back on it. Besides, this could turn out to be the best decision of her life.
Alternatively, it could be her worst, but there was no time to dwell on such a thing now. "I've thought about this as long as I could have, I'm ready to go." Hitomi reaffirmed, nodding. "I even brought a few things on the off chance we need it." It was just some basic supplies that would come from being out in the wilderness for a few hours. A small medical kit, a flashlight and some food...and a camera so she can 'save some drawing inspiration'.
She watched the portal appear, trying to stifle her very obvious awe, before she nodded. "I'm going, no point in changing my mind now." She said, before stepping though the portal.
Into a whole new world, a new adventure. Maybe this could mean something for her after all.

With a sigh Alicia flashed a smile to the artist. “You’ll be lucky if the camera works, I’m afraid. Electronics tend to go on the fritz in the Digital World if they’re not the Digivice itself or a related piece of equipment. Otherwise, good idea. Time moves a lot faster on the other side.” Nodding, she let the girl pass her and step forward into the destiny she chose for herself, before following in just behind.
“We’re gonna take the high ‘road’ to get to Primary Village.” she noted once they were both through and she closed the portal, just on the outskirts of Terminus. She didn’t bother to say anything if Hitomi had wondered what Alicia was talking about, the bearer of Steel merely closed her eyes and focused. Delving into the darkness lodged into the depths of her soul and being.
As she exhaled, a deep black mist flowed out, building and mounting. And then Alicia’s chant came once she was enveloped. “Bloodied steel hammered into blades, encircling the unbreakable abyss, now form a deathly maw that devours all. Beast Spirit Evolution.”
Steel ground and warped, groaned and tore as Alicia shifted into the only form she had access to for the time being. In it’s locked corner the Monster that had been the cause of a vicious rampage howled and clawed, looking for a lapse in concentration. But none was there to be found, Alicia was far too composed to be caught out by it, “Cybercursedramon.”
Four red eyes glimmered in the mist, before the horned, half-metallic head of Alicia’s current form reached out from the miasma she made and grabbed Hitomi by the back of her shirt. Carefully, she picked the soon-to-be Tamer up and craned her head around. Seating the tamer at the base of her neck, in front of four large and leathery wings, she pulled back, giving Hitomi a look over to be sure she wouldn’t be dislodged easily, before nodding to her.
Her form tensed as she crouched down and spread her wings, the moments of preparation letting the poor artist realize she was had been made to sit on what could only be described as a horrific extreme extension of what Frankenstein’s monster had been, what with wiring exposed where patches of skin were completely gone and how metal and flesh had been jammed together. And yet it was still Alicia underneath all of that. Though it did bring to mind why Alicia said she was hesitant to use this form in the Real World.
Something like this appearing out of nowhere would cause mass hysteria in no time.
And then Hitomi had no more time to protest as her new ride bounded and took to the sky. One could safely assume this was not how she expected her trip to go.
