The interest in the city seemed to peak when K mentioned how large it was in comparison to the town here. It was easily bigger than the one that had been her home and likely would only grow faster because of the interactions with it. Hopefully it could end up being another hub of things in the future.
"I would suggest being careful when you do, but that goes without saying."
The shutmon's ears flicked a bit and she'd turn to look at the other two when Logan spoke. They weren't wrong, she could only imagine that there were a few digimon that likely didn't like humans here or didn't want them around. It wouldn't be a surprise as there was always a few like that.
"It might be a good idea to ask more about their culture and such too. Wouldn't want to accidentally insult someone by doing something we're used to."
The shutmon paused when the Turuiemon and some goblimons returned. She wasn't expecting a table; maybe the tea and snacks but.. That seemed a little much to her but she wasn't going to really argue with it. She'd quickly follow suit and sit at the table before rubbing her muzzle thoughtfully. It was a lot more formal than she was expecting as well..
Then that was when the Turuiemon got to business. Stating that they were having problems and their volcano was concerned. The shutmon blinked owlishly hoping that it wasn't going to erupt. That would be a big problem for something of this size and would likely cause a level of destruction they might not be able to handle.
However when they started to explain the issue K's expression darkned considerably and she'd clench her hands before gingerly taking a tea cup. She'd use the tea to calm herself down a little bit and grimace at the fact of all places one of those monstrous spires would appear here of all places.
They needed to take care of this thing as fast as they could, before it became more of a problem. She didn't know how exactly the spires worked but leaving it alone would only serve to allow something to continue what it was meaning to do. She'd gaze at the Turuiemon and then over to the tamer pair. The statement of humans being quite effective problem solvers wasn't untrue. But not every human was a hero and not every one of them could solve every problem. But she didn't see that problem here with Tadao or his partner Logan.
"The structure responsible for this occurrence is likely a tower. It's normally guarded by a digimon of champion or higher from what I've seen thus far. The digimon is forced into defending the tower by a ring placed on some portion of it's body. Destroy the ring or Destroy the tower. Both is preferable."
She'd grit her teeth a little bit and then shake her head.
"The last group that I had attempt to take this out was about five in number but that matters little. Another thing is, that Armor Champion forms aren't blocked by the towers signal which allows for people to fight the champion digimon a little better than rookie. But since that's likely more of a recent development than what they have available here I wouldn't be surprised if no one around can do that."
The shutmon shifted slightly and stared at the Turuiemon.
"How long has this been an issue? Has anyone in your town gone missing around the same time that this sprang up?"

Turuiemon acknowledged K's advice. "Yes, of course, making links with the rest of the world has its risks too. We've just been rather pleasantly surprised with travellers arriving here all of a sudden".
When they were talking to K, Tadao took her point with a nod. "Yeah, true. Although they do seem kinda welcoming so far? Turuiemon doesn't strike me as the type that'd throw us in a dungeon if we offend her unintentionally". But then again his first impressions of people could be right off, let alone digimon.
As the Karnak digimon returned and asked their question, K seemed to know what was up. Tadao and Logan watched her in silence as she made an estimation of exactly what was troubling them.
"A... tower?" Turuiemon repeated, rubbing her chin. "Well, there's enough nooks up on that volcano for it to hide in, but... a champion level guardian? Controlled by a dark ring? Oh gosh, that sounds... terrible".
K then explained that it took 5 digimon to take one out last time. However, while this made Tadao a little startled, Turuiemon seemed somewhat calmer by K's explanation. "I see. You sound like you know what you're talking about" she said. After all, K's description was very precise, too precise to be made up on the spot.
Turuiemon then paused to consider. "About four weeks now. And, well... there was one..." she began. "Although he tends to prefer living near the volcano so we haven't really missed him in town. But... he usually comes to Karnak at least once a week. Lavorvomon. He hasn't visited since the tower appeared. Nobody's really gone to check on him since he's a mostly quiet fellow".
Tadao was taking all this in with concern. He turned to K. "So does this mean that it's likely that Lavorvomon's been taken over by a dark ring and is protecting that tower?" he asked. Logan trembled a little at the prospect, but kept a brave face. Neither of his parents would approve of him getting cowardly at how things seemed to be going here.

"Hopefully it just goes smoothly for you all.
K blinked a little bit and gazed at Tadao; she'd tilt her head slightly which was immediately followed by a chuckle. She doubted this group had a dungeon, if they offended her they would likely hash it out somehow and at the worst would likely have to leave. But considering how friendly they were being... she doubted that they would make a big deal about something like that.
"It's possible that they like having visitors; with this sort of reception they probably don't get much in the way of them. You'd be right there, I imagine if we did offend her she'd likely explain it out rather than getting mad."
The shutmon turned her head to the Turuiemon as they took what the digimon had said rather well actually. They seemed a little confused and K felt the need to explain further. She'd set her hands on the table and dip her head in a nod affirming what she had said before.
"They're pretty tall normally from what I've seen, not huge but I don't think it's so much hidden as just placed well."
K's ears flicked forward and she found herself frowning just a little bit. So this problem had been here for a month along with an individual that they hadn't missed in town. The shutmon blinked just a bit however when they mentioned that it was a Lavorvomon. She was rather unfamiliar with that digivolution but it was likely champion tier if it lived in such a manner.
She'd turn her head to look at Tadao her ears still somewhat turned towards the Turuiemon. She'd slowly nod at his inquiry or at the very least him putting everything here that they were informed of together.
"It's incredibly likely that is the case. If it's been a problem for so long in his home area well... We can only guess, it's possible that he's not the guardian and was taken out by whomever it was. Both are possibilities and neither are pleasant. Either way, we shouldn't hurt who is controlled by the tower too much as they aren't in control of themselves."
She'd drum her fingers on the table looking somewhat out of sorts for the moment but after piecing together what they could do with just the two of them... Well she wasn't liking their chances as they were but there was no reason to not believe they could do this.
"We need to take care of this though, we can't sit by and let a tower simply be. Our next course of action is learn the layout of the area, learn where the tower is figure out who's guarding it and take it out."
The shutmon crossed her arms looking rather thoughtful.
"...There is a possibility that the Tower is in the volcano proper, which would explain why no one has seen it. But that's not exactly a comforting thought. How do you want to go about this Tadao? Logan? Personally I think the faster we tackle it the better but information is key to winning this."

Tadao agreed with K's assessment. He rather doubted that they'd be shown such a quick shift in hospitality if they were talking to someone quite so easily offended.
When the subject returned to dark towers, Tadao remembered that he had heard of some talk of them in places like Whitewater and Terminus City. Rumours at first, but, enough dragons had seen the one in the Valley of Dragons to spread the word of such a thing. And from the looks of things, such tales were indeed true.
"I see..." Turuiemon said, her brown eyes shining with resolve. "A good plan for whoever placed them, since frankly had you not come here and known what they were, we would have likely simply stayed away from them for the time being".
Tadao, Logan and Turuiemon listened for the next part of K's reasoning, and they all found that agreeable. "Yeah, of course, if Lavorvomon isn't acting from his own free will, then he shouldn't be made to be hurt from it" Tadao said.
"My thoughts exactly" Turuiemon agreed. Then K suggested they take a look of things first. "Alright then. With this knowledge, I'm going to request every Rookie level digimon of the village capable of flight will scout out the area in question and look for this tower. As long as they're Rookies, they will not be affected by it, correct?"
If so, then that would be her course. "And following that, now that we know what we're up against, I will assemble a strike team to attempt to take out the tower and save Lavorvomon".
"Mistress Turuiemon... surely... you don't mean to lead this team yourself?" the Bokomon servant asked. "After all... the tower will surely affect you and de-digivolve you to Lopmon?"
"If that's how it is, so be it" Turuiemon said, shrugging. "I inherited leadership of this village, I don't see why I should be protected from responsibilities like this".
Tadao and Logan couldn't help but be somewhat impressed by how this was going. Then K asked them how they wanted to approach this.
"Of course, we'll do what we can to help out" he said. "I can't evolve Logan to champion yet, and even if I could, doesn't sound like we'd be much help. But... we have been training, and Logan's as tough as a rookie can be" he petted Logan proudly behind his ears, making the Offmon blush and wag his little tail under his coat. He then turned to Turuiemon. "How many digimon do you think you can bring here?"
"I'll assemble a Rookie Dragon Company" Turuiemon answered. "Lavorvomon uses fire attacks, and our dragons can take a bit of fire, so, we'll have at least two dozen combat ready Dramon rookies to help out".
At least 24? Wow, that was a lot of digimon. Tadao glanced at K, hoping this would be enough for such an event.

K scratched her muzzle and found herself frownign a bit; the placement for this tower would be the difficult part. They needed to find it as soon as they could but the planning phase was absolutely important. She'd sigh softly and dip her head in a nod as she understood what the Turuiemon was getting at. But there was another question that she didn't know the answer to, did those supression fields get bigger? She didn't want to ask that question out loud and worry people here.
"A good decision to keep yourself safe that's for sure."
The shutmon wasn't surprised that Tadao held that opinion; he was a somewhat gentle sort she figured. Or at least one that was very fair minded. She'd blink a few times as the Turuiemon said that they were going to request every rookie digimon of the village that was capable of flight to scout out the area.
"They shouldn't be affected by it, I don't think the tower has a way of dealing with flying capabilities on it's own without using it's guardian."
There was a pause and she'd watch the Turuiemon and the bokomon for a moment, frowning slightly. A strike team to deal with this threat? This was an awfully quick response that K wasn't expecting but she certainly was welcoming it.
The shutmon grew rather quiet and watched the tamer pair for a moment. She trusted the fact they could fight and keep themselves safe. Tamer pairs were ussually good at that sort of thing as they had to be more careful. Solo digimon were prone to do foolish things. The Shutmon however stiffened when the Turuiemon said that she would have at least two dozen combat ready rookies to help out in this endevour.
Even against a champion digimon, hell an ultimate digimon would have trouble coping with that many digimon on their own. The shutmon's expression shifted a bit and she'd rub her muzzle.
"Ever heard the expression of too many cooks in the kitchen? I feel like that's where we're treading but the response for the size of the area that we're dealing with is correct. It's going to be a mess if it's just the single Lavorvomon but with these towers we can't take any chances. Gather your strike team and such. Should have a plan with them too, else it's going to be crazy if they all end up fighting the digimon in question."
The shutmon slowly stood up offering a simple bow to the Turuiemon.
"I look forward to working with your group in this endevour."
She'd turn her attention to Tadao and logan a thoughtful look spreading onto her face.
"Realistically you wouldn't be able to digivolve to champion under the effects of the tower. But I'm curious why you can't; perhaps when we're done with this tower business we should talk some? See where the problem may lay. If you want of course."

Fortunately, K's reaction made Turuiemon reconsider her immediate commands. This as well as lack of support for her decision made her back down a little. She had said such a thing primarily from outrage that such a device existed on this island, ripping away her citizens from self-control and doing harm to innocent digimon. She had initially thought overwhelming force would be the way to deal with such a thing, especially if it was only Rookie levels that they could use against a Champion in such a situation. But, a good leader never stubbornly goes into matters that they don't understand. A good leader would seek to understand first.
"Okay... I'm sorry for being so impulsive like that" Turuiemon said, looking ashamed. "I admit... I've only been leader here for a short time, I didn't know how to approach this..."
Tadao agreed that it was wrong of her to make such a mistake and was glad that she admitted it. Logan, however, thought that he needed to make a further point.
"As long as you understand that and don't use it as an excuse" the little Offmon said in a surprisingly concise manner. "I may be an outsider here but I know what it means to be a leader. My dad's a leader, and he would have never made a decision to risk the lives of 24 digimon who trusted his judgement to head into an unknown situation and possibly have them all killed".
Tadao stared at his partner for saying that. Turuiemon did too, but the Offmon looked back at her firmly to show that he wasn't kidding around with this talk. The silence grew long, and Tadao thought that they were in severe danger of having their hospitality privileges ended. "I'm sorry that-" he began, but Turuiemon waved a paw.
"It's fine, I heard and understood" she said. "The truth hurts to hear sometimes, but, if I start punishing digimon for saying the truth, we'll die out very soon. However... can we please, for the sake of this meeting, pretend I hadn't come to a decision? Why would it be a bad idea to not try to overcome this control spire with overwhelming force? A Champion level guards it, rookie levels are no matches for champions in one-on-one combat, and beast digimon like ourselves are at a further weakness against a fire dragon digimon. What would be our alternative?"
"Maybe not as much as 24, maybe no more than 8?" Tadao suggested. "Make sure that all of the digimon know what they're getting into, make it a fully volunteer force. And then there's the matter of the terrain. This is on the side of a volcano, right? That'd change things".
"Yes, of course" Turuiemon agreed. Thankfully she no longer seemed to be self-pitying and was absorbing all the information about the situation that she could. While she stopped to consider this, Tadao turned to K as she asked a question.
"Well... at first I thought it was because Logan was a bit young, but, I don't think that's the case anymore" Tadao admitted. "I guess..." he looked at his purple digivice for a moment, then sighed. "I need to prove that I'm worthy of being his partner" he muttered. Logan overheard, looked a bit startled, but didn't say anything for the moment, mostly out of curiosity as to what K would say to that.

K wasn't surprised to see the Turuiemon reconsider her quick and somewhat over the top reaction to the whole tower problem. But thankfully they quickly saw the error of their ways and honestly it was because of that that the shutmon cracked a small smile. She could imagine being in such a position would be tough of course but what could you do?
"It's all right trust me. It's better you saw your mistake rather than sit there and regret it later when you hear the headcount be vastly different than what went out."
There was no reason for her to beat around the bush in this manner but at the same time she certainly wouldn't be pulling any punches even in the slightest. These towers were no joke as they constantly popped up and no one really seemed to understand them.
The shutmon however looked a tad surprised to hear that the offmon's father was a leader of some form. The shutmon rubbed her muzzle and gave a little bit of a grin before leaning back slightly. So they had a little spunk in them after all? The shutmon had for the most part thought that they would be somewhat like their tamer; not that that would be a bad thing but sometimes having two people of the same mind in a partnership could be a doozy. The suggestion that Tadao made the shutmon think that she might of initially read the two of them wrong and she let out a firm but somewhat exasperated sigh.
"Eight sounds like a much more reasonable number than the intial suggestion that you made Ma'am."
She'd turn her head and gently tap her muzzle thoughtfully. Staring quietly at Tadao as he spoke; ears flicked forward and she'd snap her fingers before pointing at the young man.
"Have faith in yourself, you prove worth through time and effort. As a tamer your suggestions and plans will help more than hinder. Without you and without him your partnership wouldn't exactly work. Don't be so down on yourself; have a sense of belief and you'll be fine."
The shutmon grinned and turned to the Turuiemon; her ears perking a little bit and her blades flipping from their normal sheathed position to their attack before switching back to their sheathed positon again. It was clear that the digimon was somewhat excited.
"Aye a champion might guard it and rookies may not be a match for them, but remember we have numbers time and patience on our side. We take this nice and easy; work together and it'll be taken down in no time. Once this is all over I'll see if some samples can be gleamed from the rubble if it doesn't dissipate."
There was a distinct pause and the shutmon glanced upwards for a moment before perking up.
"If you have any people with medical skills have them on standby just in case someone gets hurt or the digimon guarding it is in poor condition. A clear reminder is that we shouldn't fight to digitize, we should fight to target the ring that's no doubt controlling them."

Turuiemon was thankful that her mistake had not resulted in disaster. She felt that it was good that these outsiders were here to give honest counsel. Such a threat had startled her, and had they not been here, well, she might have led her forces to disaster.
She remembered the advice of her father, the previous ruler of Karnak, to never get caught up in her power and take advice where needed. While she may be leader after his passing, well, she would lead the village, but it was up to her choices whether she would lead it to prosperity or ruin. And the only way to determine what that would be would be to listen to good advice, and reject the bad. So far, the advice these outsiders were giving her was sound, and so she would continue to listen to them.
At this moment, Tadao was thinking something similar. He was the human partner to a young digimon. And furthermore, the welfare of this digimon was entrusted to him by another. Tadao had felt this be something of a pressure of sorts, hence why he hadn't gone anywhere risky with Logan so far. After all, what if he had come to a wrong decision on such an outing? What if the worst happened? It was the very last thing he wanted to happen in the world - to approach Owen and tell him that his son had died in his care. The thought of being responsible for something like that, it frightened him to the core. But, somehow, with a digimon like K here to help him, maybe he could overcome that fear?
"Thanks for saying that, K" he answered the Shutmon as she shared her advice. Yes, it was all good. Have faith in himself. If he did not, how could he ask others to do the same?
As the conversation returned to the planning of the expedition, Turuiemon took K's advice with a nod. "Alright. That's a sound plan. Healers on standby, scouts to determine what's ahead, and a vanguard to take the brunt of the fighting. Out of curiosity, what would you two best be suited for out of those three divisions?" She asked K and Logan in their fighting capacity as rookies.
"Well, uh, I'm not too good at direct combat, and I can't heal, but, I sure can mess up a bad guy's fighting capabilities" Logan admitted.
"I see... so you'd be something of a Support digimon then" Turuiemon remarked. Tadao agreed with a nod, this all seemed logical to him so far, even if the only combat he'd experienced was in video games so far. "And you, K?" the leader turned to the Shutmon. To Tadao, it seemed like a solid attack plan was beginning to form.

The shutmon stretched a little bit mulling over the upcoming fight; they had a wide variety of options available to them. With how many rookies they were throwing at this problem it likely would go very quickly if they were lucky. Along with the fact they were going to be fairly prepared? She could only feel a small smile spread across her lips as she did so.
She liked fighting, she enjoyed healing and she certainly enjoyed talking things out; but there was a certain... fluid grace that came from plans like this. It got her excited but perhaps that was the warrior in her talking a little bit? It was part of the reason she participated freely in some fights a long time ago and part of the reason she refused to settle down again.
"No problem Tadao."
The shutmon flashed a smile at the human and gazed quietly at the Turuiemon as they spoke. They were very quick to adapt thankfully! This conversation had been something of a blessing too; they would learn a lot from an incident like this. But then came another question that K found herself frowning at.
She'd stretch again, shift out of her seat and after a few quick moments she was back in her rookie form; Pulling quietly at her limbs in an effort to stretch the body and get it ready.
"I can heal, I can fight in close range, I can fight at a medium range, I can teleport, increase my speed and attack power for a short time and I would have a ranged attack but dragon types have a habit of being resistant to fire. I'm comfortable in any role you need me to be in."
The renamon relied heavily on her saberk for the most part; so she'd likely end up fighting at that medium to close range if things got messy. But she also didn't mind being a healer on standby. Too many cooks in the kitchen or something along those lines.

From what K explained, Turuiemon regarded her as someone of a 'jack of all trades' digimon. Which was fine, in fact, very good. "Alright. From your experience in the matter, I'd like to ask you a question. Could you please act as my battlefield adviser? I..." she hesitated for a moment, then sighed, shaking her head. "This... will be the first time I've actually commanded digimon in an active battle. Yes, I've trained and I've studied, but, of course, there's things out there that I only know I can learn in the heat of combat. I've studied the theory to the best of my ability, but, I'm aware of the realities. Out there, the soldiers will respond to my command, and, in doing so, their lives are my responsibility. I don't want anyone to die due to my mistakes, so... I'd be most grateful".
"But... Mistress Turuiemon" Bokomon began. "You're the leader of this village. What would it say to the soldiers that follow your lead that you would have an outsider act as the one advising you?"
"It would tell them the truth" Turuiemon answered. "That I'm not experienced for a threat like this. They may grumble about it at first, but, I want them to come home alive, Lavorbomon too. I trust them enough to understand that I'm not willing to put up a facade of false glory for the sake of imagery". She turned to a window, looking out of it for a moment, a pensive expression on her face, then sighed. "Father always taught me that a good leader is honest and will never have a reason to deceive those that trust in them. That's the kind of leader I want to be, so, I want to make sure that out there, I'll have the best advice available".
There was more to it than that though. For the first time in hundreds of years, humans were once again here on the Spears of Megiddo. And Turuiemon took that as a sign, that a time of peril had returned to the digital world, and the humans would be the ones to help good digimon return it to harmony. That was another of her father's lessons. She only regretted he had never seen one in person like she had.
Bokomon had nothing to add to that, and simply nodded silently. Turuiemon turned back to K, Tadao and Logan.
"We will need some time to prepare" she said. "Your arrival here is most welcome, and I would like to grant you guest quarters here in the Arbor Manse. Bokomon, please lead them there, and make sure to see to their comforts".
It seemed that was the end of their meeting for now. Turuiemon would leave and make the arrangements for the strike team. That left Tadao and Logan somewhat stunned at the words that were spoken here.
"Tadao..." Logan began. "We're gonna go through with this, right?". He spoke carefully, knowing how anxious and nervous his partner could be. Which was fine, Logan had expected that of him, but the son of Owen and Hikaru would hope that nothing in the ways of cowardice was being considered here.
"Well..." Tadao responded, trying hard not to shake from the weight on his shoulders of the task ahead. "They need our help, they've asked, so... we'll just have to do what we can then".
Logan smiled. That was the response he wanted to hear. With that, Bokomon approached them.
"I can guide you to your guest rooms now if you like" he said politely.

K blinked a few times and simply dipped her head in a small nod. She could act as a battlefield adviser; it was a role she wasn't completely comfortable with honestly but seeing as her experience was so varied well... The renamon scratched her head and simply gave the Turuiemon a small smile.
"I can do that yes, it'll be a little difficult at first trust me but I think you'll do just fine. We'll be taking this slow and careful since I'd rather not get caught out by whomever is guarding this tower."
The renamon turned her head to look at the bokomon as he spoke. He had a reasonable argument and a somewhat sound question along side of it. Flicking her eyes back to the Turuiemon the renamon didn't find a real reason for her to have to butt in here. The Turuiemon certainly had something to live up to didn't she? As well as good values on her mind; so she had very little in the way of arguing that she shouldn't lead. The fact that she had only studied it and not practiced had voiced a single point of concern but... asking for help had negated that fact entirely.
The renamon smiled softly and clasped her hands together giving a somewhat curt but polite bow to the Turuimon. If she was going to be acting adviser it would probably behoove her to act a little more courteously would it not?
"Of course, thank you. I look forward to working with you. If you have any questions before it gets started feel free to ask all right?"
The renamon gave a small smile and looked to the tamer digimon pair with that small smile still very much present. Rubbing her muzzle she'd shift her eyes from between the two of them as Logan seemed to be somewhat nervous. Then again with the way that Tadao responded to him made her figure that they both were nervous.
Though before she could really get into the nitty gritty of the situation the Bokomon approached them. Saying that he could show them to their guest rooms. The renamon dipped her head in a small nod and shot a supportive look towards the tamer pairing.
"Most certainly, if you wouldn't mind of course. Later once the Tower situation is resolved I'd like to ask some questions about your civilization here. It's... far outside of what I'm used to."
