Stalking Totally Pays Off Sometimes (Evie, Valentine's)

Just going back to the Digital World wouldn't be enough, would it? Elliot may have been spurred into action by the discovery of his new spirit, but he knew power was only one very small portion of the Digital equation. A far larger part was his own stability and peace of mind. Sulking? That worked for a while. At times, it even felt nice. However, Elliot also knew it would slowly but surely eat away at him if he let it. Now that the grieving had come to an end, and the healing process needed to start, Elliot knew it was time to shape up his act. He'd need to live a little. Laugh. Maybe even do something completely spontaneous and crazy!
That was why Elliot entered himself in a blind date raffle.
It wasn't anything crazy. It was just a little something for charity, really. Pay a bit to have your name put in, and then maybe have fun on a nice date. Honestly, it was the kind of thing that would've probably been way too much for Elliot on most days. He wasn't much of a random dater, or even a dater at all. However, was there any better way to get his mind off of his current stress than to push his boundaries in a major way? Worst case scenario, he could be super embarrassed about this instead of preoccupied by Isaac's condition.
Besides, it was fun preparing! Elliot had previously been a little too busy wallowing to properly shape up his appearance. Having a reason to clean up a little changed that. For starters, he could actually appreciate the fact that he had hit his growth spurt. It certainly helped that all of his Digital World adventuring had rounded him out somewhat, making him look a little bit less twiggy. He made sure to get a fresh new haircut in the days leading up to the event, as well as some nice new clothes to best suit the growth spurt. A newly-refreshed sleep schedule and some tactical relaxation helped beat back the bags under his eyes, and a bit more time in the sun got him looking less pale and haggard. By the time the day of the date rolled around, Elliot was frankly looking like a brand new person.
He made sure to arrive nice and on time. Of course, considering Elliot's standards, this was about 15 minutes early. That'd give him some time to find a nice seat by the Hachiko statue and bask in the sun. He let out a happy sigh as he tapped his foot aimlessly on the ground, his new shoes making a nice, satisfying click. His new black accessory jacket hung lightly over a cleanly pressed white shirt, and the breeze was a little ticklish on his still freshly-cut hair. There were still some butterflies dancing in his stomach over the date. Who would he be seeing? What would she be like? Where would they go? However, they had been receding a little day after day, and by now they had settled to a pleasant little layer in the back of his mind.
Maybe today was going to be great after all.

One had to wonder if Evie was one of the only people without a proper motive to enter in a raffle like this! Or, further, maybe she was one of the only people that hadn't been goaded into doing this by someone else! In fact, Elsie stood at her side all morning, scrunching her nose at her twin, saying variations of, "why are you dressed like that?" and "what's the point in this?" But, that certainly didn't dishearten the teen!
Taking a spin in front of a full-body mirror, she was met with the next question of, "you're going to get cold."
Only to counter with, "then I find out if he's a gentleman." So what if a summer dress could be a little chilly? Evie didn't find enough excuses to wear it!
"He's a kid." Pause. "What if he dresses stupidly cold, too, and you're both frozen?"
"You can be brought up to be gentlemanly, regardless of age," Evie pouted, crossing her arms over her chest. Just let the girl have some hope for this to be somewhat cute, darn it! "I'm warm-blooded, anyway. I don't know how you always feel like you stepped out of a freezer." This was a point that Elsie couldn't argue, instead choosing to reach out to grab her prim-and-proper sibling by the sides of her face, while Evie squealed and flailed her arms to shoo the girl away. "Don't! Do! That! You're cold!" How wasn't there sizzling sounds coming from this skin-to-skin contact?! It was like an ice cube met a grill!
"Like your heart."
"Are you implying yours is warm?"
The red-eyed girl cracked a grin, as her twin mirrored the reaction. "Get out of my sight, before I lock you in the closet for your whole date. Stupid thing."
Skirting from the room, there was a small giggle from Evie. That wasn't a joke. It was entirely a threat, and the girl knew it! "You're just jealous that you didn't sign up," she hummed, before hurrying from the house. Maybe, she wasn't entirely wrong. But, there was no way that Elsie was going to sign up for something like this! Charity or not! Hell, Evie didn't even sign up for the charity reason! It just sounded like a fun time!
And, after a little bit of digging through the site, she already knew who her 'blind' date was, anyway! Which was what led her to her current destination! Black shoes barely made a sound, as the girl bounced through the square, making her way past dozens of unfamiliar faces, before slowing to a notably more casual pace as she approached the statue. And, even moreso once she spotted the only recognizable person within the crowd! Now, she moved to step in front of the boy, leaning forward a little, almost curiously. Ten minutes until meetup time. Both were early! "Elliot!" Innocently chiming, the girl gave him a quick look over. Of course, her date didn't know that he was her date, did he? Time to find out! "You look fancy!" To be expected! "What's the special occasion?"

Elliot blinked, the slight hum he was nursing stopping as he was roused from his daydream. Was someone calling him already? It was still, like, ten minutes before the date! That said, it could've just been a friend trying to get his attention. Best to check and see who it was.
As Elliot looked up, he couldn't quite stop his jaw from dropping a little. It was Evie, and frankly she looked stunning. So far he hadn't seen her outside of a school uniform, so a dress that managed to be equal parts form-fitting and freely flowing was a major shocker. A light blush dusted his cheeks as he remembered that yes, he was being talked to. Apparently, the topic of the conversation was his own choice of dress. Did Evie really notice? Maybe Elliot was doing something right with this new look after all.
"Thanks," he finally said, his voice confident but the smile on his face rather shy. It was quite the interesting contrast, especially when both his confidence and shyness came from a genuine place. "I figured now that things have been looking up for me more, I should start taking a bit more pride in how I look." He paused for a bit, then let the other shoe drop. "Besides, I've got a date today! So I should try to look my best, right?" In a weird way, it felt like Elliot had already passed the first challenge. Did girls like his outfit? Evie was girls, and Evie liked his outfit. Mission complete! Now it was time to stick the landing on, well, literally everything else.
"You look really nice, by the way," he added, the blush prickling a little bit more at his cheeks when he said this. It wasn't being unfair to his date to think another girl was cute, was it? Of course not! He hadn't even met his date yet. Evie's cuteness came at a bit of an important cost, though. "But, are you cold any? I mean, it's the middle of February . . ." he added. He shot a quick glance at his decorative jacket. It wasn't much, being decorative and all, but at least it was another layer. If push came to shove, maybe he could lend a hand.
Better wait and see, though. Nobody liked just having jackets shoved at them.

Upon being noticed, a smile spread across the girl's lips. Of course she noticed Elliot's outfit! Otherwise, she wouldn't have commented on it! But, what had triggered the boy's blush? Was it someone paying attention to him, or something else? Though, what did he mean by 'looking up for him'? "Did you ace a test, or something?" Evie wasn't about to start a date off by asking if Elliot's brother was feeling better, instead!
"A date, huh?" A toying tone escaped the girl's lips, clearly ready to tease Elliot about getting a date. Oh, you hypocrite! "Who's the lucky girl?" It couldn't be the person asking! What kind of crazy person would ask her date who their date was? That would just be silly!
Then again, that was Evie.
"You've stunned me! You must be doing something right!" Oh, come on. Was that really fair? This had to be cheating, somehow! Elliot didn't even know that it was his date that was complimenting him! But, then there was a small pause, as the girl received a compliment, too! Blush dusted faintly across her cheeks, as to be expected. Just about anything made Evie blush, after all! "Thanks!" She chimed, using one hand to pull at the bottom of her dress a little. If only she had a reason to wear outfits like this more often! But, Evie didn't really have a reason to dress up!
But, to the follow up, the girl reached out and grabbed one of Elliot's hands with both of hers. Surely, it would feel surprisingly warm against Elliot's skin. "Elsie says I'm like a portable heater," she commented, innocently, while continuing to hold onto the boy's hand. "I'll probably miss having a jacket later, though," she added, as an almost absent-minded thought. Almost. Totally not intentional, nope! Evie wouldn't drop a 'hint' like that!
Returning to the all-important topic, though! "How long are you supposed to wait for your date?"

Right. Evie didn't realize that Elliot had looked deep inside of himself, come to an epiphany, and grew quite a bit as a person between when they had last seen each other. It turned out letting go of insecurities and maturing did a ton to make one's life better! Nevertheless, as much as he wanted to tell Evie all of the details, he still wanted to keep Isaac's secret on a need to know basis if possible. He could probably abridge things a bit. "Kind of," he said. "It's more, just . . ." He trailed off, trying to think of what he could possibly say.
"You know when it just stops raining, and then the sun looks even nicer? It's kinda like that, I think," he finally explained. Weather analogies, huh? Considering he was talking to a girl that associated each US state with a different food, it certainly wasn't the most out of nowhere segue. "Been doing good on my tests. Getting outside more, now that it's stopped being so cold." He paused for a bit. "And Isaac's doing better, too, although he's still not 100%," he added. Did he even know if Isaac was better? Hell no! But deep down, he trusted.
The toying tone in Evie's voice made Elliot's ears perk a bit. He couldn't lie, it suited her really well. That said, it was hard to tease someone when they didn't even know what to be teased about. "Not sure yet," Elliot admitted. "I signed up for that charity blind date thing they had flyers for at school. So right now, I'm not even sure what they'll be like. But I can't lie, I'm kinda excited to find out." Oh, Elliot. If only you knew.
That said, stunned? Evie? Yeah, the blush dusting his cheeks was now starting to show in full force, his smile turning a bit more nervous. "Thank you," he said, voice warm. Were his fingers drumming slightly on his walking stick, or was that just a trick of the light? "It took a good bit to pull this outfit together, so I'm really glad you like it." Just like he liked how Evie flared out her dress right there. It was a tiny little movement, but somehow it caught Elliot's eye. How could it not? It was cute!
A bit less cute was suddenly having his hand snatched up by both of Evie's. They were really warm, and really soft, and now the blush on Elliot's face was creeping all the way to his ears. Did she even notice that she had basically just caused Elliot's eyes to widen in shock? Judging by how she just innocently kept talking away, she either didn't know or wasn't acknowledging it. "W-wow, you really are warm," he said, his voice taking on a bit of a quiver at the sudden close contact. "Must be really nice on a day like this, huh?" Unfortunately, as a normal temperatured individual, Elliot had no idea what it was like to be warm in almost every season.
He did, however, notice Evie's request. Once more he cast a little glance down to his jacket. It was a really nice part of his outfit, but he clearly didn't need it as much as Evie did. He gently tapped Evie's palm with his snatched-up hand to signal for her to let go, then as soon as his hand was free took his jacket off. "If you want, you can borrow this," Elliot offered, holding it towards her. "I'm not really too cold today, anyway." Surely he'd still look nice enough for his date even without it, even if he admittedly thought it'd bring the whole ensemble together.
"Should be about . . . seven minutes, maybe?" Elliot said. Not that he was checking his phone during this. Really, he was just estimating right now. Of course, that meant he would be in Evie's clutches for another seven minutes before his date even arrived.
Somehow, that didn't seem half bad.

Evie listened to the little explanation provided, while staring at Elliot, curiously. "I actually think the rain looks nicer," she commented, lightly. Of course Evie would be the type to appreciate rainy days! Regardless, she had to add, "I think I know what you mean, though." Not that the blonde was too worried about her test scores, or how the weather looked! "Good to hear that Isaac's doing better, too. If Elsie was that sick, I'd probably be a mess." 'Probably' was an understatement! It would be surprising if Evie actually went to class, if her sibling was ill enough to miss this many days of school!
Giving a thoughtful hum, the teen debated on her next response. "Oh, I saw those flyers," she responded, airily. It didn't seem that she was overly interested in pieces of paper hanging on walls! But, there was little chance that someone as observant as Evie would actually have missed reading every detail on them. A few times, even! "What kind of date are you hoping for?" Rocking from heel to toe, she began to list examples, "tall, older girl? Short with a pixie cut? Do you like younger girls?" Pause. "Guys?" Hey! Evie wasn't going to judge! Elliot could be hoping for a guy! Though, considering she was his date, it was unlikely that it was his sole preference, if so!
While the blush didn't go unnoticed, Evie wasn't going to further the nervousness by pointing it out. For now, at least. Maybe if she got bored, or wanted to watch the boy squirm! But, for now, she'd play nice!
Just like she had definitely noticed the expression change, when she had grabbed his hand! "It's so nice!" Evie confirmed, briefly flashing a grin. "A little too much in the summer. But, Elsie's always cold. So, I just steal it." What an annoying life it must be, for each twin to be able to steal the other's body temperature like that! The green eyed girl certainly knew this too well, as frozen feet were frequently shoved against her skin without warning! "Right now is pretty perfect, though." Of course it was! It was just right for wearing a dress in slightly chilly weather!
But, was the jacket something she really wanted right now? Letting Elliot escape her hold on him, the blonde smiled politely, before shaking her head. "I'm not stealing that opportunity. Offer it to your date later, if she gets cold." Seriously? Was she seriously going to tell him that without laughing the whole time? Somehow! But, she was right about the gentleman thing, at the very least! "It's really nice out right now, anyway." For the time being, Elliot was probably going to think Evie was being pretty nice on this front!
...Just wait for it!
"Seven minutes," she repeated, the polite smile beginning to slowly shift into more of a smirk. Looking around the crowd, the girl began to count the minutes in her head. "It must be driving you crazy to find out what they're like!" Then again, it was probably going to drive him crazy that a girl was standing next to him that might confuse his date!
Six minutes.
This was taking way too long! And, it was getting harder not to look smug, by the second! Either way, she still stood there, occasionally rocking back and forth on her feet. It was probably going to look like she was going to awkwardly stand with him until this girl showed up! Unless, of course, Elliot was finally going to clue in on how weird it was that she was there too. But, for some reason, Evie didn't suspect he would!

Being able to appreciate the rainy days was good. You couldn't be happy all of the time, after all. Angst over not being that way 24/7 was an easy way to drive one's self insane, and Elliot was quickly starting to appreciate that fact more. Still, it was one heck of a thunderstorm Elliot had been caught in without warning, and while he may have understood its importance in hindsight actually getting through it wasn't fun in the slightest. "I think I'd appreciate them more if I had an umbrella," he said. Was he seriously continuing this analogy? These two were total dorks, but who knew they were this dorky?
He smiled sympathetically at mention of what Evie would do if Elsie was ever sick. "It takes a lot of strength to keep moving on, when that kind of thing happens," he admitted. "But I mean, it's not like I could keep wallowing over it forever, right? One way or another I needed to pull myself back together, for him and for me."
This was getting too sober. Thankfully, Evie was able to pull him back to earth by blindsiding him with a few questions about what kind of girls he liked. It seemed like her first attempt was already a strong hit. The mention of tall, older girls got Elliot blushing a good bit, even if after recent growth spurts "tall" stopped necessarily meaning "taller than him." The rest didn't really make as much sense, though. Especially younger people. Elliot found his nose wrinkling a little. "A girl younger than me would be, like, really young," he said. "Like, she'd be, what, twelve? Ew, no." Age gaps were one thing, when you were old enough for them to be okay. But anyone who was that young was still just a kid! Elliot would've just felt wrong.
That said, guys? Completely different story. "I don't really know if I like girls or guys more, I think," Elliot admitted. "I mean, I've only really started noticing people like that recently, so I guess I'd need more time to really think about what my type is.
How about you? What's yours?" Jeez, Elliot! Who knew you'd be bold enough to just ask?
Elliot laughed a little at mention of stealing warmth. Was that a thing? Isaac never really seemed like he'd be especially warm or cold. Isaac was always just Isaac temperature. Maia probably disagreed, though, considering how often the two were bundled up against each other. "At least in the summer you can just aim a fan at yourself all day long, right?" he asked. Honestly, Elliot sucked at keeping at a normal temperature. He tended to either end up too cold or too hot. He'd rather go right from a space heater to a fan than risk going it alone.
At least he could keep his jacket. Frankly, Elliot was a little relieved as he slung it back on. It did add a bit of warmth, even if just a little, and he did look pretty darn good in it. Besides, judging by Evie's reaction, his date would be quite happy with that. "I'll be sure to keep that in mind. If she's cold enough today, of course," he said. It was moderately chilly at best out, a nice surprise for a February. "Maybe if my date shows up wearing a sundress, too," he joked, wondering what the odds of that could've possibly been.
These seven minutes were really stretching themselves out, huh? "Kind of," Elliot admitted. "But its a nice kind of crazy, you know? It's a little exciting waiting to see what they'll be like. Really, though, I just hope they'll be someone I get along with well. This doesn't have to be, like, love at first sight or anything. I just really want to spend a nice day with someone cool.
Have you been on one of these before?"

Having to admit that she didn't have a sibling in such a terrible situation, Evie could really only agree with what Elliot had to say on the matter. "I guess not," the girl nodded, trying to place some thought into the matter. "When I broke my arm, Elsie didn't leave me alone until I could prove to her that I could do everything myself." She'd have to leave out the part where that didn't really matter, because the twins were basically joined at the hip anyway!
At least it was easy enough to change topics, before they either got too depressed, or went too in-depth with the obsessive relationship that the twins surely shared! But, Evie might have been regretting that, now that she had her question flung back at her! Let's see, her type? Maybe someone who looks just like her, but with red contacts? Haha--no. That only belonged in weird manga! As far as actually thinking about what her type was, though. Hm... "People who are fun, mostly," she hummed, trying to think of other things that might catch her eye. "General hygeine is a must," she confirmed. Of all the things Evie could care about, if someone was unsanitary, she wasn't going to be anywhere near them! Some days, Elsie even pushed that bound! "I guess I don't have much of a type. But, nice hair and eyes are always pleasant." That was probably a better answer than Elliot could have expected, really! Especially with a follow-up of, "speaking of, do you ever get compliments on your eyes?
Though, a fan probably wasn't going to save the girl all the time! "I would need a portable fan," she admitted, throwing a glance at the sky. The world was just too warm. "I don't like carrying things." That was no surprise! Evie didn't even carry a backpack, unless she absolutely needed to! That's what the Infini-Store was for!
Given, it was a hassle to open that thing in public. It wasn't necessarily a normal item that everyone carried around! Maybe, she should have shoved a jacket in that thing, too. Hindsight was funny like that! "Maybe she will!" Or, definitely. She definitely will, Elliot. You're talking to your date, after all!
How many minutes were left now? Five?
Four.
"Well, I'm sure you'll hit it off with anyone you meet!" The blonde chirped, encouragingly. "You're charismatic, and everything. So, I'm sure any girl -- or guy -- would have a fun time on a date with you." Three minutes remaining. "Love at first sight could be pretty overrated, though. Then you get those rose-tinted glasses, you know? Where you don't see any of their flaws." Wise words, for a girl that wasn't really big on the dating scene!
Two.
"Do you have any plans for your date?" Still counting. She had to wait for just another minute or so! Not too much more, now! At least Elliot's response would help kill the time!
Giving a thoughtful hum, the girl rocked on her feet again, thinking about her answer. "Well," the green-eyed teen drew the word out, taking another glance up. Was the pause hesitation? Nervousness? With any luck, it would leave Elliot curious. Of course, not for very long. Less than a minute.
"I guess so!" Evie finally answered, leaning toward Elliot again.
Time's Up!
Lips curved into a polite smile, while the teen tilted her head a little, causing hair to cascade over her shoulders. "Our date just started, after all. I'd think that counts."

God, was that familiar to Elliot. Isaac practically served Elliot hand and foot after his leg got injured. Sure, part of that was guilt over somewhat being the cause of it, but good old fashioned brotherly affection was another major reason. "Good times," Elliot said, even his bad leg not feeling so horrible on such a nice day. "Sure makes us lucky, huh? Some people can be really cold to their siblings. It must be really nice knowing we always have someone to rely on." Frankly, Elliot couldn't talk about Evie's relationship with Elsie even if he wanted to. He and Isaac were equally hip-glued, when push came to shove. They were also equally chaste, because this is not one of those weird anime. Anyone reading this getting any ideas, shame on you!
Evie had pretty good tastes, considering. Fun, clean, and cute. Especially clean. That was really important! It seemed like the eyes were a particular area of importance for her. So much so, that they were the first thing Evie asked Elliot about. "Huh? I mean, can't say I have," Elliot said, only for it to register what Evie was implying there. Immediately a blush crept back up his face, which accentuated the bright blue of his eyes just a little bit more. "H-how about you?" Elliot asked, although he didn't give the question too much room to stand. "Although I bet you get them all the time." It was said so innocently that Elliot may not have even been trying to flirt.
He laughed a little at Evie's comment about carrying things. It was especially hilarious paired with the idea of her toddling around with a giant, full-sized fan. "Yeah. It's a drag sometimes," Elliot admitted. "I just try to stand around all the warmest things in the room. It's way more helpful than you'd think!" It was almost catlike how Elliot nuzzled up against warm objects, especially in the privacy of his own home.
Evie's other statement was a bit more cryptic. Another girl wearing a sundress in Japan in the winter? That was kind of unlikely. Honestly, Elliot hoped it wasn't the case. He wasn't going to admit it out loud, but the blush on his face darkened by another notch. Evie had set the bar high, and Elliot didn't really want his date being distracted by that.
Not helping the bar setting was how nice Evie was being. Elliot had to admit that he wasn't usually the first thing to come to mind upon hearing the word "charismatic", so hearing a really cute girl said that got him smiling shyly. "Aw, thanks. I try my best," he said, lost for any other potential response. If Evie was trying to give him a confidence boost for his date, it was working! But why would she try to do that? Maybe she was just being a really good friend. After all, there was also some nice, practical advice couched in there. Elliot nodded as mention of rose-tinted glasses was brought up, making sure to keep Evie's words of wisdom in mind.
Another good piece of advice was plans. Elliot let out a hum, tapping his good foot slightly as he tried to drum up inspiration. "I'm not really sure yet," Elliot admitted. "I mean, the park's really nice today. I figured we could go for a walk and get to know each other better. Then, when I get a sense of what she likes, I could pick something out from there. Play it by ear, you know?" It was a surprisingly tactical answer. Clearly, Elliot wasn't the kind of guy to sweat the minor details.
He sure was the kind of guy to miss them, though! He perked up a bit at Evie's drawn-out well, only for his curiosity to become confusion as she leaned a little closer towards him. She was blocking out his sun now, making it hard to focus on anything but her bright green eyes. Then a small, cute smile spread on her face as her hair cascaded down, waving down her shoulders in a way that got Elliot's heart skipping a beat for a second. Evie had just announced the start if their date, and frankly she looked amazing.
Elliot blushed, dumbfounded, only for a wide smile to spread across his face. He slowly rose to his feet, letting out a relieved laugh. "Looks like this is my lucky day," he said, his smile now far more relaxed. "I was starting to wonder if my date would've been able to compete!"

With the recent statement, the blonde found herself making a slightly quizzical stare. Good times, huh? Well, if pain was your thing... But. Whatever worked for Elliot, she supposed. Evie wasn't that curious about what Elliot found enjoyable! Especially if it was breaking bones! For a moment, though, the teen had to contemplate. "I don't really think of Elsie as someone else," she admitted, innocently. It wasn't like she didn't view her sibling as a person! "We're sort of extensions of one another." After all, it made sense! Being identical, and all.
It took a minute for Elliot to process Evie's compliment, though! All the while, an innocent smile slowly grew across her lips, pressed tightly together to remain modest. Even once the boy started to blush, she managed to avoid laughing! But, maybe that was because she was taken off-guard by his counter-question! Eyes widened, failing to mask the surprise for a brief second. "Not really!" Evie answered, cheerfully. Ah, Elliot couldn't have known that he was flirting, right? He was too innocent for that! "Everyone's usually too focused on Elsie's contacts to notice." After all, red was far more eye-catching than green!
Only furthering the hilarious images that the blonde could surely provide, she gave a small sniff. "Elsie yelled at me for moving stuff to try to fit in the freezer. I'm not allowed to cling to cold things after that." Hey! It was the most logical place to cool down fast! She didn't care if that meant a tub of ice cream had to be thrown into the heat! After all, the girl would rather ice cream become soup, rather than her becoming it! "If people are warm, do you stand by them, too?" The question was posed, before realizing that their topic was actually about how warm Evie could get! Welp. That was unintentional! Hopefully, Elliot wouldn't connect the dots there.
Giving a smile and a hum of acknowledgement, Evie pretended to think about Elliot's date plan. Or, maybe a lack of date plan! "Fair tactic," was her decision of response. It didn't sound discouraging, at least to her! But, once he learned who his date was, would he still need to search for knowledge for a proper date? It was hard to say!
Sliding a foot back, to give Elliot plenty of room to move away from where he was sitting, the blonde flashed a quick grin. It would have been so easy to have stolen Elliot from his date, it seemed, if she weren't actually it! But, that wasn't the case! "Think I beat your expectations, then?" Evie hummed, trying to refrain from snickering at the idea. What had Elliot been expecting, anyway? "So! Are you still thinking about a walk? Or, is there something else you have in mind?"

Frankly, Elliot understood what Evie meant. This may have been because he literally fused with his brother on a semi-regular basis, but the sentiment was the same. "Yeah. It may not've always been that way, but Isaac and I are basically inseparable these days," Elliot agreed. "I mean, he's been feeling less sick and look at me now! We might not be twins, but we might as well be, you know?" To a degree, Elliot wondered how much different life would be if Isaac really was his twin. Sure, they wouldn't have as rocky of an initial relationship, but would they be as able to support each other as easily without coming from different life styles?
Evie's eyes widening really didn't help with the whole nice eyes thing, frankly. It was a bit of a treat getting to see them on full display like that. Shame nobody else seemed to agree, judging by what Evie had to say in response. "Oh. That's a shame," Elliot said. "Well, I think they're really nice!" See? Now Evie would have someone complimenting her eyes! "And I like the way your bangs frame them. It really highlights how bright they are," he added. Why give a sweet nothing when he could actually vocalize why he liked them? It only made sense.
Maybe Evie wasn't that bright, though, if she tried to contort into a freezer. Elliot had never had overly large freezers with lots of empty space before, so he could only imagine Evie twisting and turning to try and pack herself into a shelf. He couldn't help but laugh a little at that mental image. "I know Isaac basically glues himself to the fan when doing homework. You know, when the spring starts getting really hot, like its almost summer?" Elliot added. "He says its the only way to make it bearable. I think he just likes talking into it so he sounds like a robot, though." No matter how much Isaac and Elliot had been tormented by the Digital World, they were still kids!
Or, more accurately, teens. And Elliot had sure picked the right day to start being a teen who noticed girls. "I mean, if they want me to," Elliot said, tilting his head a little curiously. "I know when one person's too hot, and the other's too cold, it kinda helps everyone out. But I'd never just steal someone's warm like that." He didn't entirely seem to get it, but he had unintentionally left quite a few doors open. Elliot, you fool!
At least he had those doors open for the right person. His somewhat confident grin still held, however, even at the tease. "Yep! Pretty solidly, I'll admit" Elliot said. If Evie needed proof of that, she'd just need to rewind back to his comment about her eyes. "How'd I do at meeting yours?"
It probably helped him meet those standards when he actually had a plan in mind, too. "I might have something in mind," he said, smiling cheekily as he stood to his feet. Was he prodding a few directions in his phone? "But lets take that walk on the way there. It's a really nice day out."
