Valentine's Day: Fishing for Love (Yukiko x Dante) [Fin]

Having siblings can be tough, but every once in a while, Dante and Judith actually get along. Having been inspired to work on her music, Judith isn't as upset at Dante and Mizu. Yukiko, still looking marvelous in her red dress, mentions a fusion cuisine place that she knows.
"That sounds good, Yukiko. Let's go there now."
Dante turns to his sister.
"Well, we're off. Drive safe, sis. I'll see you later."
Judith gives her brother a quick hug.
"Have fun, Dante. Don't do anything stupid and ruin this date. It's good for you to get off the couch every now and then."
Even when his sister is being nice to Dante, she still had to passive aggressively take a jab at his laziness. Judith bows politely to Yukiko, then takes her leave. She wanted to give that pest Mizu what for, but she didn't want to wait around any longer. Now Dante can focus all of his attention on trying to woo his lovely new friend. He offers his arm towards Yukiko to hold.
"Do you want to take my car there, or is it close enough to walk?"
Does this mean that the rest of the date would go well, or was there yet another obstacle on the road to finding love on Valentine's Day?

Yukiko watched the siblings hug with a little smile. Ah, she loves it when things turn out well, there's already enough conflict out there as is! Mizu also seems to have vanished, which is unusual, but welcome. Who knows what madness her impulsive little friend would have wrought...
Upon seeing the arm being offered, the good old embarrassment shot back into her face. Eeeeeh? Holding arms? isn't this a little too far already? Or is this normal? She had no idea! Just to be safe, she took his arm, a bit shakily.
"Ah, i-i-i-i-it's close enough to w-w-walk, l-l-let me show you..." Yukiko then began to walk. She was actually pulling Dante along a bit, something she was too embarrassed to notice. Still, the day had been going reasonably well, and things were improving even! Hopefully nothing would go wrong...

The two of them set off to the fusion cuisine restaurant. Dante is glad that Yukiko accepted his arm, but then she started to tug him along! Dante didn't mind. He was feeling a sense of pride, accompanying the lovely young Yukiko to a nice meal. It didn't matter to him whether people noticed them or not, just that he was with someone special to him. They reach the cuisine place and head inside. Once seated, they have a chance to look at the menus. Dante notices a wide variety of dishes available.
"So many choices. The salmon sounds good. What do you think, Yukiko?"
If Wormmon ever found out about this place, he would want to go almost every day. It's funny, both Yukiko and Dante haven't mentioned being Digimon Tamers, not even knowing that the other is a Tamer as well. Though Dante had met Mizu today, not knowing her true identity. It seems like the most stressful part of the date is over, and that they would be able to eat in peace. Dante even sorted out some issues with his sister, and maybe he will learn to be a better brother from now. That is, if Yukiko holds him accountable. Judith will probably tell her if Dante acts a little too cranky.
"Thanks for suggesting this place. Do you come here with your friend Mizu? She seems to be more, assertive, than you. I have friends like that. It's nice having someone calm and relaxed to talk to."
Dante reaches over and puts his hand on top of Yukiko's hand. If memory is correct, this would make Yukiko anything but calm and relaxed. Maybe Dante figures that if he engages Yukiko a bit, she will become more comfortable around him. Or it will backfire. Dante's not exactly boyfriend material.

Finally, Yukiko was back in familiar territory. She'd been at this restaurant multiple times now. The waiters even recognised her, and greeted her. She sheepishly returned their waving, and sat down, looking over the menu. She would likely take the Teriyaki Pork Cutlet with potatoes again as always, but she wanted to not look even more like she was a regular.
"Eh? Oh, y-y-y-eah, they make great salmon here! E-e-especially the Salmon Noodle Bowl..." A dish, combining the goodness of the Japanese Ramen with the exotic taste of italian Salmon and Spinach pasta, to create a creamy, rich stew. It was a favourite in this restaurant. Yukiko had it once, herself. It was -quite- nice indeed.
Though the mentioning of Mizu's name drew Yukiko out of her reviere again. She couldn't really tell him that Mizu was, in fact, a Digimon, and her partner. After all, she had no clue that he was a tamer, too!
"A-a-a-ahahha, yeah, sh-she's got more self-confidence than a whole group of people...sh-she's really nice, though, w-w-w-we're close...!"
Ah, she was complimented again. She was calm? No way, she's too fussy and nervous! Still, gotta be grateful! "A-a-a-ah! Th-th-th-thank-
e-e-eeeeeeeeeeh!"
Her face was completely red once again as Dante laid his hand onto hers. She was overwhelmed with embarrassment, and avoided his gaze. She had no idea how to react, either, so she just clammed up.

Apparently, Yukiko really was a regular at this restaurant, as she recognized some waiters. Though based on what Yukiko had said, this was probably the first time she has brought a date here. When Dante asks Yukiko about the food, she mentions the Salmon Noodle Bowl.
"Japanese ramen and Italian salmon? That does sound good. I can get used to having such variety at one place."
Dante still didn't realize that Mizu is actually Yukiko's Digimon partner. With both Tamers not knowing that their date is also a Tamer, neither one was going to spill the beans. Part of Dante felt bad for withholding the truth about Digimon, but it was just part of life as a Tamer.
"I have to admit, Mizu makes a strong first impression. Maybe we would hit it off better if my sister wasn't around."
When Dante put his hand on Yukiko's hand, he could tell that it made her embarrassed. After a moment, Dante removes his hand.
"I'm sorry, I don't mean to make you uncomfortable. I just want to show you affection."
Dante smiles happily at Yukiko. While they have some things in common, it was difficult to overcome Yukiko's shy nature. What would happen if some of Dante's more chatty friends were around? Dante orders the Salmon Noodle Bowl, and a very sugary fruit smoothie to drink. When they bring out the food, Dante is surprised by how large the portions are. Part of him felt a little devilish, enjoying such a nice meal without Wormmon, the food fanatic. Dante takes the first bite of salmon, and it tastes even better than he expected.
"Mmm, this is great. Thanks for recommending it. I've had a wonderful day. Well, besides my sister sticking her nose in our business. I was wondering, would you want to go out again sometime? If you don't want a more, uh, intimate relationship, we can also be friends if you'd like. Thank you for a great time!"
In spite of Dante's previously bad luck with romance, he's finally met a lovely young lady. It was worth the anxiety of going out with someone new. Would Dante and Yukiko go on to fall in love with each other, or would they become good friends? Either way, this date was a big success. Maybe Aphrodite does have a soft spot for Dante after all.

Yukiko looked down, and did not look up again until her food arrived. As she cut into her cutlet she finally got herself calm enough again to reply to Dante's quip about Mizu.
"H-h-h-hehehehe, yeah, sh-she has an overabundance of p-personality. Sh-she's super nice actually, sh-she just gets really mad wh-when she feels something is making me sad or upset...I h-h-hope y-you two can become friends, too..."
She dipped the fried bits of meat in the sauce, and pondered for how long the two could be friends without Dante noticing Mizu was a Digimon. When Dante pulled back his hand and apologised Yukiko sheepishly shook her head.
"A-a-a-ah, d-d-don't worry, I'm just....n-n-n-not used to this..."
She said nothing more for the remainder of the visit. Once they had left, Dante told her that he'd love to mneet her again. That, she'd love to. But he also hinted at wanting something more intimate. This, Yukiko had absolutely no way of handling. She turned red, turned away, and stammered. It took all of her strength to calm down enough to reply.
"I-i-i-i-i'd l-l-l-l-love t-t-t-to g-g-g-go out ag-g-g-g-gain! I-i-i-it w-w-w-was n-n-n-nice...w-w-w-w-well, s-s-s-s-s-s-eee you!"
Yukiko then threw a piece of paper at his face, her phone number, before running off, beet red and full of embarrassment. This was the furthest Yukiko had ever come with a boy, and somehow her anxiety hadn't ruined it, either. Maybe Mizu's unwanted butting-in would have some positive consequences after all...!

"Ah, what a nice meal. Ya, I'm sure Mizu and I will get along better. It's clear how much she cares about you."
Dante enjoys his salmon and noodles. When they leave the restaurant, Yukiko shoves a piece of paper with her phone number in Dante's face. He is happy Yukiko agreed to go on another date with him. Though the way Dante mentioned possibly becoming more intimate caused Yukiko to become anxious. It seems Dante was going to have to play it cool. What worries Dante is what it's going to be like having Yukiko around his "friends". Also, he can think of a few girls who will be jealous, but what matters is that Dante is going to devote 100% of his heart to Yukiko. No other women would get in their way, besides Judith and maybe Mizu.
Before they part ways, Dante leans in and goes to give Yukiko a hug. He looks into her gorgeous eyes and smiles. He lets go and stands there, awkwardly. Dante does his best to act like a suave ladies man, but he doesn't quite live up to his persona.
"Your eyes are like two saucers of milk to a thirsty cat... Uh, anyways... I had a very good time together, and I look forward to seeing you again. Have a great rest of your day! See you later, Yukiko."
Dante turns to head back to his car. After today, his heart is full of love and music. His normally cynical attitude is nowhere to be found. Only time would tell what the future has in store for these two. For now, Dante is as cheerful as Wormmon in a barrel full of ice cream.
(Thinking) "Hmm, which sounds better, Dantiko, or Yukante?" _______________________________
