Jack paced back and forth along the riverside, his eyes narrowed down to the hole the water dissapiered into, the dark overpass like drainage hole where the water would be transported to the sewers, most likely to be treated and sent back into the clean water table, very few metropolitan cities of this size would be able to keep their people in clean water without water treatment facilities.
He sighed, sitting by the water's edge when he felt his backpack begin to shake anxiously. reaching backward and pulling Snowcone out and cupping him in two hands, rocking softly back and forth to calm the baby creature as it softly squeaked and pipped in his hands.
"What are we gonna do, Snowcone? I mean...I know we have to get to the digital world and she said this was the best way in but...." he looked over his shoulder, ineptly trying and failing to make sure he wasn't being watched, obviously missing various spots where people could notice him talking to whatever was tucked in his hands, this pale white boy sticking out like a sore thumb in such a busy Japanese city.
Snowcone yawned, half snuggling into his hands and closing its eyes, giving him only a small sigh in response, the skinny teenager still left conspicuously sitting by the river, considering his options.
"I am not cut out for this...I should call mom...." She sighed, pulling in his knees.

Hiroyo pulled her cutesy pink ball cap off by the brim with one hand and ran her other hand through her hair in an attempt to get it to lie nicely under the hat. It was probably the fourth or fifth time she had done so and she was getting so, so tired of it! It was already bad enough her scalp itched with dried sweat from her wall-climbing shenanigans at the gym. Difficult strands of hair would find themselves sprayed into compliance when she got home!
When she eventually got home. It was too nice of a day for her to want to go straight home and besides her hair she didn't feel gross after her work out. Her actual work out clothes were stuffed into the brightly colored duffle bag looped on her shoulder. It bumped against her hip as she strolled, a faint jangling coming from the seven or eight keychains that were attached to the bag. Among those was the digivice, hidden in plain sight from those not in the know.
At least it was hidden until it beeped at her. The red head paused and stepped to the side of the walkway, narrowing her eyes at it. The last time it had beeped like this had brought her cake and adventure. She had work tonight, adventure today was probably unwise!
Not that she would let something like that stop her!
Her narrowed eyes turned from the device to the area around her as she unhooked the digivice from her bag and held it out in front of her like a particularly noisy dowsing rod. She wandered first one way and then another, listening to the volume and intensity of the beeps to guide her steps. Eventually it lead her towards a figure sitting almost forlornly. It was a foreigner! A foreigner who was talking to something round and Hiroyo would bet a whole chocolate cake that what he was talking to wasn't just a plush toy.
An eager grin broke on her face as she fumbled through the digivice's menus until she found a 'mute' option. She walked as she fumbled, bee-lining straight to the foreigner. Their features looked feminine but she couldn't tell for certain. They were so small, were they just a child? Maybe she should rethink the whole adventure thing.
She stopped a polite distance away. No sense scaring them off by being super overbearing right from the start.
"Ah... excuse me for rude. Are you lost?" Hiroyo's English felt rusty and awkward even to her ears. She kept the digivice in her hand and looped it's band around her wrist. If they didn't know what the digivice was she could always say it was just a fancy phone. If they did, well.
Something to talk about for sure.

Jack nearly jumped out of his skin as the woman approached, letting out a cute little squak of surprise as he shoved Snowcone into a side pocket of his backpack, the tiny creatures grumbling at the rude awakening.
Jack panted for a moment, looking the woman over. He was getting really sick of other Americans talking about how short japanese people were when most of them were at least a good two or three inches taller than the Mainer. He sighed, looking at the Digivice on her wrist and finally sighing, pulling Snowcone out of the side pocket and placing him softly in one cupped palm, seeming already trusting of the new person on the scene.
"I suppose you could say that." He said, his Northeastern accent clear enough to understand, though he deep Noreastern accent was usually reserved for family. "I'm looking for the way into the Digital World, someone said I needed to get my partner, Snowcone, here there to help him grow." He said, holding the Digimon out, Snowcone pouting and hiding as much as he was able in the palm of his parent's hand, cutely blowing bubbles at the girl with an angry expression that was too tiny and serious to not be cute.
Jack sighed, pulling Snowcone back and placing his free hand in the pocket of his jeans.
"They said I could most easily access it here but I'm not really sure how. Do you have any ideas?" He said, finally allowing her a turn to speak.

When the foreigner pulled his Digimon partner out of his pocket Hiroyo's eyes lit up. He was tiny and adorable, his partner was tiny and adorable, the verdict was too cute! Hiroyo decided she would help them get just about anywhere!
...but what about the boy's parents? Her expression sobered as he mentioned taking his partner to the Digital World. She didn't catch every word exactly but she was pretty sure she got the gist of it! Her expression sobered as she reached up to touch a hand to her chin, considering. He looked pretty young, and with how short he was he couldn't be more than eight or nine. Way too young to be wandering around the Digital World alone in her opinion. Especially when his partner was a baby still!
Hiroyo thought of Morgan and Roger and while she wasn't particularly fond of the insects, she wouldn't purposely keep them from growing. The boy had a duty to his partner. She smiled again after he asked if she had any ideas.
"I think go in water?" It was the best she could come up with. Taking him to the train station had been considered! But trying to sneak a foreign small child past security to a locked down part of the station? Yeah no, no jail time today please.
She smiled at him and held out her hand to help him up. "Not good footing, go together?"

He nodded, laughing quietly at the stranger's broken English but accepting her help redily, tucking Snowcone under a strap at the top of his bag so he could still see over Jack shoulder, Jack reaching out to take his hand. She was awfully kind taking a guy she didn't even know down into this magical fantasy land with her help.
"Thanks, hun. My name's Jack by the way." He smiled and toothy, innocent smile as they walked down the muddy bank together, trying not to slip face first into the dewy grass and unforgiving mud, humming a tune to himself as they descended the slippery slope, his shoes keeping good traction as they had been originally purchased to keep traction in heavy ice and snow, he just hoped that the girl would also be able to keep her footing down the sharp arching path downward as they approached the lapping age of the water.

Hiroyo's smile turned into a grin as the kid laughed. That was surely a good sign! Even if it was at her terrible attempt at English. At least she could understand the language better than she could speak it.
Her head tilted towards him when he introduced himself and she found herself answering his easy smile with one of her own. "Nice to meet you. I, Oda Hiroyo..uh, call me Hiroyo." She fumbled as she spoke because cultural differences were a thing. Easy enough to correct since she caught it early. Whatever, she was dwelling. She nodded to the pair of eyes on his shoulder. "Does this one have name?" Small talk as they worked their way down the hill. She was careful to keep her grip on his hand rather light, she didn't need the strength that let her hang off walls by her fingertips for a trip down a slippery slope!
At least, not this time.
The trip was short and sweet, they both kept their feet and she was impressed by his balance for someone of his age. She would peg him as a sports player but then again he was young still. With her toes almost in the water she grinned to hide her worry and turned to him, her eyebrows raising almost in challenge.
"Ready?"

Jack smile,d looking over his shoulder as Snowcone hid again and growled, eyes peaking out form behind his guardian like a baby crocodile. Jack giggled and nodded, his short blonde hair shimmering in the fading sunset light.
"This is Snowcone. Don't worry about him, he's just shy." Jack said, Snowcone peaking out a small bit, sticking up his pudgy little antennae, Jack grinned. "Do you have a partner, miss?" He questioned, unable to see any partner if she indeed had one. it would've had to have been a baby if she was hiding it from him, then again her noticing him by the river in the first place showed he wasn't the most observant sort.
He grinned at her with a mischievous twinkle in his eye, not even weighting for her to ask if he was ready before he sucked in a big gulp of air and leaped full pelt off the bank, dragging her in with him with the sudden shift of weight and inertia, excitement matching anxiousness as they slammed through the navy barrier between them and a whole new world.
"This is either gonna be awesome...or I'm gonna get all three of us killed..." he thought as they sank.

Hiroyo's grin only grew at Snowcone's growling. He was way too tiny for her to consider a threat! Still, it was good to see he had spunk, he'd need it.
"Tiny but fierce eh? You'll need that." She told the Digimon in her native tongue. It probably didn't understand her..or maybe it did? Digimon were weird like that, and she really had not interacted with many below Rookie class. That would require going to Primary Village and the twins were determined to never go back if they could help it.
Speaking of... "Ah yes, two!" Technically they weren't hers but well, that wasn't a discussion she wanted to get into right now. Or ever. In fact, never sounded perfect. "They stay there. Big enough to...not get hurt." She visibly winced at her own poor wording and vowed to find time to brush up on her English. Maybe she could listen to lessons while climbing? Of course that meant she would have dangling cords and OH SNAP.
Abruptly her thoughts were cut off as Jack grinned and leaped into the river and dragged her with him. 'Oh god, oh god I'm going to drown in gross water why life whyyy' she thought before
