Sorry, we don't repair Digimon [closed, Talia]

It was a bright afternoon here in Downtown Shibuya. Desmond was working in his small repair shop with someone that he met yesterday night. But it wasn't exactly human, it was a small floating fireball with a mouth and tiny arms. Let just say that yesterday night was entertaining to not say freaky. A small Digimon, that's what he called himself to be, came out of his computer screen after receiving that weird email. He first thought that it was spam but still clicked on it just to double check. To his great surprise, the DemiMeramon was very calm. Well, he was yesterday. Today? He was floating around looking at every corner of the back of the shop, Desmond locked the door to the front of the shop. While he did consider using him as a mascot, the blond tamer chose otherwise.
Desmond was sitting on a small stool next to his workbench while the DemiMeramon kept looking for whatever. "Desmond." The small Digimon called his name but the human was too focused on repairing a small watch. "Desmond." He called his name once more, this time louder. "Uh?" Desmond didn't even move. "I'm hungry." A heavy sigh came out of his mouth. "You can have my lunch." He then said while pointing to a small plastic bag with a bento box inside of it. "Can I have all of it?" The welder didn't even turn to face his new partner. "Yes, you can." The DemiMeramon began jumping or floating up and down and quickly made his way toward the food. He tore the bag open and dug into the bento box and began eating.
To be honest, DemiMeramon was like a pet. A scary one, a ball of fire shouldn't be talking. It was a miracle that he didn't burn the whole shop down. "Desmond." This time, the Frenchman stopped doing what he was doing and sighed. "Yes?" He then turned his head to look at the DemiMeramon. The bento box was already empty. "I'm hungry." The blond tamer simply looked at him not impressed. Well, he didn't expect him to eat all of it that fast. "I erm..." He wasn't sure what to say next. He still had food upstairs in his room but he feared that he might eat all the food. "Give me an hour, I'll go grab you more food."
"Whee!" The DemiMeramon was quite happy to hear that there was more food to be eaten. "Just stay put..." And then a small bell could be heard. It was the front door of the shop, someone got in. Desmond stood up and made his way to open the door that separates the front and the back fo the shop. Just before turning the knob, he turned around for a second. "I'll be back soon, do not burn the shop." He said very seriously. He would wait for the DemiMeramon to nod before finally slowly opening the door while keeping an eye on the Digimon.
"Hi, how may I help you?" He quickly said before closing the door behind him to make sure that his new partner wouldn't be able to get out and either burn the shop or scare the customers.

After the conversation she had in the coffee shop the other day Talia's interest in the little device piqued, specifically in regards to how she could fix it since it seemed to be broken (the twins doing no doubt) and after asking around her floor at work many had suggested this shop. Now what exactly she'd get from having the little device repaired though was another question. If anything, it could give her some kind of lead on the four W's of her wards - who they were, what they were, where they were from, and why they were here. For all she knew though it could have been wishful thinking and whatever was in the device was a fluke. "Hello? I'm the girl who called from Overlord Enterprises." A tall blonde man who she assumed was the owner greeted her at the door, the programmer returning the smile. "I came across this little device...in a flea market, not really sure what it is, seems to be broken, think you'd mind taking a look at it?"
Talia had mixed feeling on the twins not being with her - on one hand it was nice to be alone for once, and on the other it felt a bit void after getting used to having them around so often. Don't get it twisted - she still didn't feel comfortable leaving them home alone, but now like any good hacker she'd sort of found a loophole around it - while browsing in a secondhand store downtown the other day she'd found a box set of some old Sesame Street episodes, a discovery that set a lightbulb in her head - put something entertaining on, keep them distracted for a few hours and that way she could leave semi-confident she wouldn't come back to her apartment being in rubble, it was total genius! "This is such a cool store, I'm a programmer. Oh, I'm Talia by the way!" The blonde was such a hyper chatterbox that formalities weren't always the first thing on her mind.

"Oh yeah, I remember your voice." It was a sweet voice that was hard to forget. "I'm Desmond, nice to meet you." The blond tamer looked at the familiar device with curiosity. "Sure, I'll take a look at it..." He slowly took the device and paused for a moment just staring at it. He flipped it to look at the back, then the sides and then back to the little screen. He too had one but in a different color. He wasn't sure of what it was really, his new partner, the DemiMeramon said something about it being a Digivice. He, however, did not explain how it works. Desmond began pressing the buttons to see if it would do something but alas, nothing.
"Sorry, I don't think I can fix that." He said before handing the device back to the girl. "On a funny note, I got one too." The Frenchman then went digging into his pocket to reveal his Digivice and placed it on the counter. "I didn't get it in a flea market though. I erm..." He wasn't sure that saying that he got it from a floating ball of fire that speaks was the best idea ever. He just paused and began pressing the buttons of his Digivice and the screen lit. The DemiMeramon was on the pixelated screen.
"Uh." That was all Desmond managed to say. He tried pressing the button again and the screen went black. "I'm not sure what just happened there..." He said a bit confused. "Erm... May I ask you a question?" He shyly asked while looking at Talia. "When you bought it, did the person had any erm... Unusual pets?"
He then heard something knocking at the back door. It was light a first then got heavier. "Desmond!" A little voice could be heard. Desmond looked at the door and held his breath. He then quickly, looked at Talia with an awkward smile. "Erm, gimme a minute, I'll be right back..." He swiftly turned around and opened the door just a little. "Shh! I told you to stay put!" He half whispered. "I heard someone! I wanna see!"
Desmond did the mistake of just opening the door just a tiny bit allowing the DemiMeramon to get out of the door frame. "Whee!" he shouted before floating behind the counter. The Frenchman sighed heavily and cursed himself silently. "Uh... Don't mind that nose... it's erm.." He couldn't find the right words to say right now. The DemiMeramon then made his way around the large counter and bumped into Talia's leg. "Oooh! Hey there! I'm DemiMeramon! Nice to meet you! Do you have any food?"
"DemiMeramon!" His tamer shouted. "I swear that he ain't dangerous despite being a living ball of fire that speaks..." Desmond made his way next to Talia and bent forward to grab the little Digimon. "Sorry, you must be very confused." He then said before lowering his head to apologize. "It's a uh..."What was the term again? "Digimon!" The DemiMeramon shouted with pride. "I'm a Digimon!"

Desmond asking if a pet came with the digivice was a dead giveaway of his awareness about digimon but out of practicing subtlety Talia continued to play dumb with the man. "Not at all! Wait, was the one you got broken too? I tried taking mine apart with a screwdriver but it seemed to be pretty strongly fused, whoever made them made them just about bulletproof!" If he confirmed she couldn't fix it, then at least she'd know to attempt another method. "Take your time!" She reflexively ducked when DemiMeramon shot out of the door, seeing nothing more than a small flame ball at first. "Another digimon! Oh, oops..." Cat out of the bag? At least the little critter was adorable and seemed friendly for the most part! "I'm Talia! So nice to meet you. Uhhh lemme see..." She checked in her purse. spotting a package of salted crackers shrink wrapped in plastic. "I usually keep these for an on the go snack but you can have them!"
She shook her head. "Don't worry, I've got two more at home!" If only right? There was a tapping at the front door of the shop, only for it to pull open courtesy of Koromon. "I told you two to stay home!" Damn it, what if someone saw them?! "We were gonna but...we wanted to make sure you were safe." Tch, she didn't know whether to be touched or annoyed at them for not listening.

Desmond was very surprised that Talia wasn't freaking out. He sure did when he first met that living fireball. Now that he knew that he could hold him without burning his hands, it was much better. He was about to say something when he heard her use the term Digimon and another in the same sentence. His jaw dropped a bit upon hearing that. "Uh... You know about Digimon too?" Meanwhile, the DemiMeramon was more than happy that Talia had food for him. "Can I?" he asked with sparkles in his eyes. He then looked up at Desmond and asked the same question. "Can I?" The blond tamer wasn't sure what to say. "Uh... I don't know?" The little Digimon sighed and shook his body. "Can you let me down? Please?" His voice was full of joy. Desmond hesitated for a moment before bend his knees and releasing the DemiMeramon. "Don't forget to say thanks." He quickly said before standing up.
"I did try to break the thing in pieces but yeah, I wanted to be able to put it back together after so I didn't try the blowtorch." It was a joke, you don't break stuff like that with a blowtorch. The DemiMeramon floated toward the girl and her package of salted crackers with wonder. He would stop in front of it and lift a hand to his head. "Can I?" He repeated to make sure. So far, Desmond was the only human he knew and while he was calm, he didn't know if everyone was like him, so he tried to be polite. He would wait for Talia to give him permission before ripping apart the plastic and began munching on the crackers one by one. "Hmmm!" He was a happy Digimon. "Why don't you have snacks with you, Desmond?" He then asked while devouring a cracker. Desmond sighed. "I gave you my lunch." He reminded him. "But that's not a snack." Well, he did have a point there.
"Sorry about him, he has a rather big appetite." Desmond then apologized to Talia. And as soon as he said that, he saw his front door open ever so slightly. Another Digimon? Wait, there were two of them. Where do they come from? "Are those... Digimon as well?" He slowly asked. They didn't look like his little partner for sure. Unless they can breathe fire, it wouldn't surprise him now. "You got two of them?" Now that is bad luck. Well, so far the DemiMeramon didn't really do anything but eat and wander around the shop so maybe it wasn't that bad.
"Ooooh! Hi! I'm DemiMeramon! Who are you two?" He asked while shoving the last of the crackers into his mouth. "This is Desmond!" He then said while waving his arms toward the tall human. "Let me close that door..." Desmond then said. He didn't want anyone coming in and see the three Digimon so he quickly made his way and locked the front door and flipped the little sign to Closed. He took a deep breath and turned around to face Talia. "How about we talk in my apartment? I just live above the shop." It was a rather small one. One bedroom, a living room which was also the kitchen, and a bathroom. It was just enough for him.
He would then slowly make his way to the backroom and open the door. "There's a staircase there." He would say while pointing at the corner. "You can remove your shoes when you get up." And with that said, Desmond would grab his partner and make his way to his apartment. When they would get there, he would put the DemiMeramon on the floor and go grab some more food from the fridge. "Here, I made some rice balls yesterday." He then presented a plate of rice balls shaped like little panda heads.
"So, Talia, can I ask you few questions?" he would timidly ask before sitting down on the rug. "Like, what do you know about those erm... Digimon, right?" The floating fireball nodded and went to hug him for some reason. "Yes! We are Digimon!"

"No worries! I always like to have an emergency snack on hand, never know when you'll need it for a hungry friend or late night at the office!" Huh, so all of these digipets had big appetites it seemed, but why for such small creatures? Perhaps it had something to do with their code, the nature of their core forced them to consume large amounts of carbon based material in order to function? "Yep, twins, whatever that means. They said it was because they were born from the same egg. Either way, the purple bulb is Moonmon and the pink one with the loud mouth is Koromon." But how could a creature with digital origins be born from a amniotic method of reproduction and conception? Heck, how did they even reproduce?! "Don't be jealous, its double the stress and care." The twins, curious about the fireball had started to bounce around excited at the prospect of a potential new friend. "I'm Koromon and this is my sister Moonmon! Nice to meet ya DemiMeramon!" It was funny, they could remember their birthplace but not much else about where they'd come from, only that it was some kind of digital plane which to the female seemed quite far fetched - legends about ghosts and demons and such were one thing but the theory that were alternates planes was just too much to her for some reason.
"Sounds like a plan!" She followed the man up the stairs, the digipets trailing not far behind. "Now don't forget to behave while you're in someone else's house! Not jumping on couches included." That got an 'awww' out of Hackmon who seemed to enjoy jumping on cushions more than his slightly more dignified sister did - she made a note to get a trampoline for the twins if they ever moved to a place with a backyard - wait now she was thinking about bigger homes? Great, that could only mean she was getting attached to the rugrats, a big problem since she had every intention of sending them back to their home as soon as possible. "Awww how cute, thank you!" The blonde pondered his question while tasting the rice balls. "So far what I can confirm is that they're all composed of some kind of unique code that's really difficult to decipher and that they definitely aren't carbon based lifeforms, and yet don't act like programs, I'm still struggling to figure it out myself."

Desmond was a bit confused there. He wasn't sure what to think exactly. He was pretty sure that he was the only one with a Digimon. But after seeing Talia and her two partners, he was starting to think that maybe a lot of people had them too? Shaking his head to clear his mind, the Frenchman took a deep breath and looked at the DemiMeramon who was now munching on a rice ball. How can a ball of fire able to eat that much? Or maybe the food just burns inside and nothing happens so he just eats and eats? He had no idea how that worked.
The blond tamer went to scratch the back of his head and inched closer to the living fireball. He hovered his hand above it and felt a bit of warmth. Not a fiery kind of warmth, it was kind of comforting actually. He let his hand slightly about his head for a long moment without saying anything. The DemiMeramon looked up for a second and saw his hand over his head, or body or whatever. "Are you cold, Desmond?" He then asked. "Uh... No, I'm just... Nevermind." And he removed his hand and moved it back toward his body.
"So erm... Talia..." He began to speak shyly and maybe too softly. "When did you get your erm... Digimon." It felt weird saying that word. The DemiMeramon would jump, or float higher., every time Desmond would say the term Digimon. "We are Digimon!" He shouted loud and proud. His tamer sighed. He never had any pets before, and clearly not a fireball that would talk back to him. And eat all his food. "Uh." Desmond was trying to put his thoughts into words. Which was harder than he first thought. Which is ironic seeing that he thought about thinking.
"Do you want something to drink, Talia?" He then asked before turning his attention from the DemiMeramon to the girl. "I got some juice and water." He said with a little shrug. He would then pause for her to answer him before standing up and opening the fridge if she were to tell him that she wants something to drink. He would get a bottle of water and then go back to sit on the floor. "Hmm... Digimon." Again, DemiMeramon began jumping. "We are Digimon!" Desmond just slowly went to look at his overly joyful companion and then back to Talia. "Erm, yeah. Do you know a lot of people with erm..." He turned his head to face his partner would was clearly waiting for him to say the word. "Digimon..."
"We are Digimon!"

"A few days ago actually! Lets just say when I found them trying to break into the vending machine in my office, I knew they were gonna be trouble."
Was it odd Hackmon didn't really remember his trip into the digital world? Or even the era before that? Visions danced in head of a brightly colored play area with small nests that housed other baby digimon, just before a hole in the ground opened that tore his sister and himself away from that, and then for what felt like 100 years they were in some sort of black vortex before a welcoming light drew them into the land of humans. Of course the apparently long journey had worked up their appetites, and perhaps it was him being so hungry that the dragon had known by instinct that the vending machine inside the rather chrome and foreign workplace break room was a source of food, its many shelves with ringed frames joined by brightly wrapped packages under a dull yellow light, the only barrier between himself and a full stomach being a hard unbreakable glass shell along with a small slot that seemed designed to keep out prying paws - well in this case it was Koromon's feelers. And when that failed, they'd stacked up Goomba style and simply attempted to punch the buttons on the pin pad until something worked. "Whats a Trouble? We're digimon, remember?" Ah Lopmon, always feeling the need to correct others like a Deans List college student.
"Sure! Water sounds great, thanks." Despite that they barely knew eachother, Talia couldn't help but feel a connection with Desmond after finding out he too had a partner, the same one she felt to the others she'd met with digimon, as if they were all some sort of community, (as cheesy as that sounded). "How'd you find DemiMeramon? Caught him stealing your snacks?" And while the grownups talked the bored twins grew interested in the other digimon. "Hey Talia? Can we play with DemiMeramon please please?" "Yeah I'll be good, I promise!" Uh huh, she'd come to quickly find with these two that that 'I'll be good' usually meant 'I'll be as destructive as I possibly can be' hence why the blonde hesitated. "Fine, but you both better behave and be respectful while you're in someone else's home, and no roughhousing!" Geez, when had she become so mom like? "Yay!"
Talia sipped her water as she spoke, glancing at the trio. "They have good intentions, they're just not always...aware, is that the word?"

DemiMeramon was now spinning on himself while shouting, "We are Digimon!" when Lopmon said so. It was clear that he was enjoying it very much so. Desmond gave Talia a bottle of water and looked at her two partners before turning his attention back to the lady. "Erm..." His apartment was fairly small so he wasn't sure what kind of playing they could do. "I guess you three can play together... Just don't break anything? Please?" The Frenchman mumbled. "Those erm... Digimon..." Oops, he didn't want to say it out loud. "We are Digimon!" said while running around his partner and then go seek the two other Digimon.
Using his left hand to scratch the back of his head, the tall blond couldn't exactly recall how he found the living fireball. "I think I was replacing the wires on a laptop." He then said. "I had my cell phone charging on the corner downstairs and saw a flash of light from behind me..." Now he began remembering the details. "I just heard something shouting and when I turned around, he was there, trying to eat my cell phone I think." He then shrugged before taking a sip of his bottle of water. "I thought I was hallucinating. Didn't slept much so I wasn't exactly super awake. The fire extinguisher was in the same corner he was... I really thought that he would set my whole place on fire."
"But then, he just looked at me and asked for food. It took me few seconds before realizing that it was erm... Alive?" He wasn't sure of what term to use here. "Anyway, it took me an hour I think before knowing that he wasn't going to burn everything. He does eat most of the food I buy though..." Good thing that he wasn't poor because that DemiMeramon would have made him dead broke. "I mean, it's not that bad, he doesn't really make the place messier, doesn't ask for a walk or needs to poop around so it's not that bad, I guess." It was just like having a pet that was very low maintenance. Kind of. "He does like attention though." And he moved his head to look at his partner who was trying to hug Talia's partners.
"Hugs!" He shouted as he went forward. "Hugs for everyone!" Desmond sighed. Well, at least they weren't throwing fireballs at each other. After giving a hug to both Digimon, DemiMeramon would then float toward the two humans and stay in front of the lady. "Desmond." He softly said with a smile. "Does Talia want a hug?" He asked innocently. That made the Frenchman smile. It was kind of cute? "Pretty please?" He asked again but with puppy eyes. "You can ask her if she wants one." The DemiMeramon quickly turned around to face Talia. "Can I give you a hug?" Desmond took another sip and chuckled a bit. "Don't worry it won't burn you." He said so that Talia wouldn't freak out at the idea of getting hugged by a floating fireball of a Digimon.
DemiMeramon would wait for Talia to give him the Okay to hug her. If she would let him, he would jump into her arms and snuggle her with his face. "Oh. She smells nicer than Desmond!"
Desmond sighed and rolled his eyes. "I hope that your two erm... Digimon..." He was going to use another word but that one slipped. "We are Digimon!" His partner shouted once more. "Yeah, that. Do they eat all of your food as well? I mean, I live on my own but I can't imagine having to feed two of them..." Also hiding them. Compared to her partners, DemiMermaon was fairly small. He could fit in a backpack or something but those two? It might be harder for her to do so. "I think that they are erm... Like, little kids? I don't know where they come from but they are here..." And he looked at the DemiMeramon who was still trying to hug Talia's if she would let him. "I think you can let go of her now..."
"Desmond! You should come smell her too!"

"You heard him! If you break anything, no TV or video games for a week!" Welp, that definitely was enough to scare the Mario Kart loving twins into behaving, mostly Moonmon anyway - Koromon tended to be the type who you could tell a hundred times not to do something but the more you told him not to, the greater chance there was he'd do it - at least he had his sister to keep him on his toes? "Now what can way play that won't count as...errr rough housing? Hmmm..." While Moonmon contemplated that, Koromon was hopping around, using his feelers to examine the many things around the apartment armed with a healthy curiosity about human customs.
"I'll bet! Fires must be a serious hazard in a place like this, what with all the electrical things." She drank her water as she spoke, her voice a bit dry, the blonde not used to chitchatting so much really - while she was no hermit Talia tended to be a bit on the anti-social side, often choosing to eat lunch at her desk so she could work instead of going out with coworkers and really in her job there wasn't much social interaction required.
"I wasn't going to take them home with me, I wasn't allowed to have pets growing up so I'm not really like an animal lover but figured two things - number one, they had no place to go and would probably be eaten by a stray dog if left outside, and number two, if left in the building they could very well either destroy the place or get found by maintenance staff who would probably call the police who would probably send them to some science lab where they'd do who knows what to them! And like a fool, I let them in. I don't really regret it though, they're good companions, and since I live alone it's a nice treat." Annoying? Yes. Would she have them any other way? Probably not. "Ooooh, so it's all small digimon that are gluttonous! Don't worry, you're not alone in that aspect." It was true, digimon weren't exactly dirty, but hoo boy could her twins could clutter up a room - at least when she'd lived alone there was only one person to clean up after?
"Awww, of course you can hug me, c'mere!" Hugging the fireball was a bit odd - his body looked like flames but touching him was no different than touching a dog or a cat. "Interesting, can your flames burn someone if you don't trust them?" she said, asking while stroking his head. "Yup, and half the time they fight over it! They're definitely siblings, thats for sure." Whenever they fought she wondered if that was how her parents felt when her own siblings fought - was the intensity of parenthood what drove them to divorce? Or had they just simply fallen out of love? "Apparently they come from a place called the digital world? I have't looked too much into it but it's apparently somehow connected to our earth's plane."
