It's been a week since Ioana arrived in this world and given her name. She still isn't too keen on this life though. Mihai works nine-hour days so for nine hours straight she is stuck here in his and his sibling's apartments. What is worse she can't talk to the kids and can't bite them either. She can understand the not biting thing but trying to keep the fact she wasn't a dog annoyed her to no end.
The girl loved petting and holding her despite her desperate struggles to avoid her. The boy was okay in general. He minded his own business most of the time and rarely made a move to pet her. She would have broken the rules a day or so ago but she had discovered Mihai had a scary side. A corrupted smile as he threated to tear her ears off if she harmed either kid. Oddly enough she learned he could do it no problem.
A soldier born from another country and here he was playing house with his siblings. He refused to speak much of his past family. Saying it was in the past and it while it made him who he is it is not a story to tell everyone. She had to wonder when he would tell her about it. Not that she had much room to talk she wasn't sharing much of her past either.
She lounged in front of the sliding glass door that led out onto the balcony. A line of clothes hanging out to dry behind her. The sky was a bit grey and her ears twitched at the thought of the coming rain. She was pretty sure he didn't take an umbrella with him. Serves him right for not checking the weather.
A key in the lock had her raising up her head. It was the boy as usual always home directly after school. In his one hand his cellphone even as he kicked off his shoes. With a sigh, he plopped onto the couch hanging his legs over the side. His usual routine in her book. After a week of all this, she had their routines somewhat memorized. Here in an hour, he would grab something to eat from the fridge and turn on the TV.
She laid her head back down and closed her eyes. The minutes passed and his phone rang which was a bit abnormal. She listened faintly as he answered it. His sister, she couldn't hear what she was saying but the fact he said he'd be there in a bit had her looking at him curiously. He got up and put back on his shoes grabbing two umbrellas from beside the door. Seems Mihai wasn't the only clutz.
"Wanna go for a walk," the boy asked looking at her. She could go out for once without having to wait for Mihai. She'd take that chance to stretch her legs. It wasn't every day she got to wander around without him. She got up walking over to the boy.
"Hmm, leash," he reached for the tether he had bought for her. She had to groan in response. She wasn't going to wear it no way no how. She growled slightly earning a questioning look. The boy stared at her quietly and it became a bit unnerving after a while. She cursed these Japanese and their stupid rules. She yielded on the collar and now this. How humiliating.
Snap, the sound echoed in her ears. He got her while her guard was down in pity for herself. Curses, he had been waiting for it. Smart kid. She followed him out the door and he turned locking it back. He opened one and tucked the other under his arm. Down the steps, they went and as they stepped out onto the concrete she could feel just the faintest of sprinkles on her pelt. They were going to regret leaving the laundry outside later.
The streets were slightly crowded and she found herself walking at his heel to prevent herself from being trampled. Luckily she wasn't as small as when she first arrived here in this world. She passed off as a dog a lot better now; much to her dismay. It wasn't the life she had been expecting or wanting to be honest. She never had the desire to walk beside humans, to have her every need catered to, or to be stuck in a home with people who were truly family. Settling down had never been a goal for her rather getting stronger and living a full life had been her motivation.
She had never been down these streets. She pondered their location when a school came up on one side. He lightly guided her in and the sound of other kids greeted her ears. She nearly froze suddenly not wanting to go any farther. It was her worst nightmare as she heard a bunch of girls coo from just inside the doors. They wanted to pet her till her fur fell out she knew it. She hid behind the boy hoping to Yggdrasil none of them would pursue her.
"Here," the boy said handing off the other umbrella. His sister having been in that mass of girls commenting on how cute she was.
"Thanks, the practice was canceled today because of the rain," she responded taking and opening hers. She was a member of two or three different clubs from what she understood. She knew one of them was art but she wasn't sure about the other two. One of them had to be outside because of her remark though. Which meant she's going home early and would want to cuddle when they returned inside.
At least she avoided being petted to death as they left. Her ears twitched at their idle chatter. Football was the sport she seemed to be in. Scoring goals by kicking a ball; how simple she could probably even do it. It was probably a human sport though so she doubted they would allow a dog... she mentally chastised herself for calling herself a dog. She's been hearing that word way too much.
Finally home she shook herself free of the water. A giggle and light chastising from the girl making her roll her eyes. Thankfully the boy unclipped her leash pretty quickly so she ran before she reached down to pet her. Ioana returning to her spot in front of the glass doors.
"Oh, the laundry," the girl said disturbing her as she rushed out to collect it all quickly.
Ioana grunted and walked over to the couch where the boy now sat. A sandwich from the fridge in hand and lounging with the remote. She jumped up curling on the opposite side watching the girl faintly as she removed the drizzled laundry. Serves them right for forgetting. If there wasn't a ban on her talking she could have said something. She'd just revel in pointing out that fact later.
Honestly, there was no way he could keep the fact she was a digimon a secret forever. The boy wasn't stupid for one and there would come a day when she would evolve even farther. How would he explain their dog becoming an even bigger and black one? Or maybe she'd be white and blue. She honestly wasn't sure; either way, though there was no way to explain that to the kids.
She was going to revel in that freedom when it happened. She'd also definitely tell the girl to back off even if it would earn a smack from her partner. She wasn't used to this at all. Staying quiet about her dislikes and yet something about it also had her feeling content. Like she was back home with her parents and brothers. No matter how much she fought with them, in the end, they'd always end up sleeping curled together.
This place...it was starting to feel like home.
