Making a Splash (Jack & Hiroyo)

A grin of victory spread as Hiroyo reclaimed her bag and swung it over her shoulder. The weight settled easily enough on her shoulder for now, she would just have to switch once in a while. It would be fine right up until they got into a fight or something, luckily there seemed to be no signs of such a thing happening any time soon.
Or at least there wasn't until Jack said something about the sand. Hiroyo turned away from Snowcone (who was now her most favorite digimon) and frowned at the ground. "Oh really? I thought all sand was loose like this." She swept her foot across the ground in front of her as if trying to reveal something underneath but all she got was more sand. Sh shook her head at herself because really, what had she expected. She would believe Jack's words, she didn't know what knowledge he had about deserts but it was hopefully more than what she knew.
Since what she knew could be summed up as 'deserts have sand and are hot' the bar wasn't too high.
"Well, we can either get off this track and head a different direction, or keep going and hope whatever it was is so far ahead it won't notice use. As this is the only real feature here besides that," she jerked a thumb over her shoulder in the direction of the Oasis behind them. "I'm inclined to stay on the track." Maybe it would lead somewhere.

He shook his head, still lightly kicking the sand as he walked, more curious than anything about what was causing the upset in the natural order of things.
"No, sand, like an sediment that's been settled in large piles for long enough starts to weigh on itself until it eventually gets pressed down back into rock. Huge deserts like these are usually only a few dozen meters of real sand built on top of a massive bedrock of sandstone. In fact that's why it's called sandstone. It's like how snow piled too high starts freezing down into ice." He cupped his chin, looking down at the ground as they walked.
"You're probably right. They say you should probably just pick a direction and walk in case you're ever stranded in a place without identifying location, besides we're not really in a ton of danger since I'm assuming our needs for food of water or mitigated in the digital world. I'm sure we'll be fine." He said, petting snowcone, the toddler mon picking up the concern in their voices admirably.

High above the sky, a single small avian Digimon covered in bright-pink feathers glided across the sky somewhat aimlessly; their shape resembled that of the shadow of any typical bird down below. With the occasional flap to keep itself aloft, they lazily patrolled the sky... gazing down at the ocean of sand below them, hunting for interesting sights.
The Biyomon was a bit of an oppurtunist when it came to their life. The desert was an inhospitable place, so any oasis tended to attract visitors... visitors that could be ambushed to and from that is. The avian was still rather inexperienced at this whole "bandit" lifestyle, but they saw it way easier to try and takedown travellers who were already exhausted by the heat and treacherous paths of the area than try to get into a fair fight actually. Frankly, he wasn't picky on what to loot... bits or data to fuel perhaps an evolution further were both welcome additions in his mind.
The Biyomon squawked as he suddenly noticed two dots down below... Humans of some sort? He couldn't really tell if they had a Digimon with them, but humans seemed to always carry money around with them. Easy pickings in his book! The Biyomon slowly began to slow his gliding motion, circling around the area they were at... the only real sign their presence being their avian shadow down below and the occasional loss of a single pink feather slowly drifting down below. Biyomon has appeared and is circling overhead the group ominously.

Misery is a balefully bright sun in an endlessly blue sky beating down on all the exposed skin it can reach. Even with the lower heat output, the cumulative effect was still going to be misery. It wasn't yet but Hiroyo wasn't looking forward to when it turned into a problem.
Hopefully they would have made some tracks by then.
"Mmm, my only real experience with lots of sand is from sandboxes or the beach. You know quite a lot about the topic! Is it related to your studies at school or just an interest of yours?" Hiroyo said in response to Jake's reasoning. She kept her eyes on the troublesome part of the sand as they walked so she wouldn't embarrass herself by falling again. The comment about not needing food or water drew Hiroyo up short for a moment.
"You know...I've eaten in the digital world before but I don't recall being hungry." She mused aloud as she rubbed her thumb over her chin. "Its interesting to consider that-huh that's interesting." She stopped as something dark flashed across the ground in front of her. "Hey uh, did you see that? Something dark and shadow like across the ground?"

Snowcone leaped from jack's grasp as if on instinct, barking and snarling up at the sun, waving his glitteringly bright orange mohawk hair around in a kind of intimidation display, Jack following his "son's" line of sight to spotting the bird Digi above and Jack sighed, reaching into the side pocket of his bag and freeing a black domino mask, pulling it over his eyes and wrapping it around the back of his head, he turned to Hiroyo.
"Get some distance, i guess this'll be our baptism of fire." he said, trying desperatley to make his squeaky little accent even the least bit intimidating or cool as both he and Snowcone square up, their eyes and stances following the shadow as it descended lower and lower, wondering what it would make of it now that its position had been made.

The Biyomon squawked in mild annoyance, noting the two humans down below pausing, seemingly gazing upwards at him. How irritating... did they already spot him? The Biyomon had figured he was high enough that they'd have not noticed him, but guess that wasn't the case at the moment.
Plan 2 was a go. Aimlessly circle around the area, pretending to ignore them, maybe let out a caw here or there. Playing dumb was the oldest trick in the book after all. The moment they lose interest would be his time to strike! They were a patient Digimon... Even if his intended targets didn't even seem like a threat. Did they even have a Digimon? He legit could not tell. Still, humans were harder to mug when they were running away in a panic.
The Biyomon began drifting aimlessly in the sky, though barely descending down as they occasionally peeked down below... ever-watching.

Hiroyo lifted her head from the shadow on the sand to look up only when Snowcone and Jack both turned their gazes skyward. She immediately regretted it when she caught a glare of sunlight in her eyes. She groaned loudly and quietly cursed the loss of her ball cap under her breath as she rubbed her hand across her eyes and started moving along the trail again. She was more than happy to put space between their current location and herself.
"Calm down, I've met a few Digimon and most of them were shop keepers." The only one that had attacked her so far had been Hookmon, and that was because she and the bugs had attacked him when he was already being a troublemaker in the real world. Since this wasn't the real world, and the digimon wasn't immediately swooping down to either talk or fight she was pretty content to just go along her way. Indifference was fine. "Besides, you're little guy just reached in-training stage. The only thing he can take on is other babies. Let's keep moving and see what happens."

Jack and Snowcone both hesitate to take their eyes off of the bird as Snowcone hops back into Jack's arms and they begin walking, never really losing awareness of the bird's slow circling that never fully lost their position. Jack sighed, the black domino mask still wrapped around his face.
"Sorry, I was told to come here that I should watch out for Digimon who are hostile, picking on humans and smaller mons. I don't like bullies and scoundrels." He said, the line actually coming out much more stoic and serious than his first attempt and he wasn't even actually trying that time, his expression looking a bit more heavy with the mask softly billowing behind him but his smile quickly returned. "But, onward we go I suppose."

The Biyomon had been idly circling the group for about three minutes or so, aimlessly gliding around. His targets seemed to begin moving once more, the bird chirping somewhat happily to himself... As far as he could tell, they lost interest in him. Smoothly done in his book; who was bird-brained now?!
They began to flap away behind the group, putting some distance between them initially. Soon enough though, he made a full turn as he began to rapidly descend downward; aiming to try and catch the two humans from behind.
"Talon Twist!" the bird squawked as they paused in mid-air, beating their wings in unison to create a strong current of wind that began to whip sand around, heading towards Hiroyo and Jack. Needless to say, the Biyomon was NOT acting friendly to say the least.

"It's really a shame everyone is always like 'oh the digital world is an awful terrible place' because if everyone got along it would just be better for everyone and-" Hiroyo had been rambling on about such things as 'bringing the worlds together' and 'living in harmony' when the wind hit her. She wasn't expecting it, she had seen the pink bird and immediately written it off as 'not a threat' due to the nonchalant behavior (and, if one dug into her psyche more closely, the color) of the bird.
Such a foolish thing to do in the digital world.
Hiroyo ate sand, the attack blasting her forwards and knocking her off balance. She hit the ground with her mouth open, immediately recoiling as sand and grit snuck in and she shoved herself upright with a look of disgusted anger on her face. Her torso ached and a groan escaped her as she shoved herself to her feet with one hand. The other was desperately brushing off her tongue as she gagged and spat on the ground.
"YOU! You overgrown pink vulture! I vouched for you, you malevolent chicken!" Hiroyo hollered as she swiveled on her heels to track the bird. She raised both hands and flipped a couple birds of her own at the attacker. She was taking the attack rather personally, even if everything she had ever been told about the digital world (even from her companion who was newer to it than she was!) told her she should have expected something like this. It was bad enough she had let her own guard down, but the fact she had talked Jack into letting his down as well and then been treated so violently was a slap to the face. "I should pluck off every feather and make myself a hat but it'd be an ugly hat! Everyone who saw it would run away! No one would even want to look at the putrid shade of your feathers. The only thing worth less than the hat would be your continued existence! Seriously, how could you, why would you even do that?! Snowcone! Jack! Knock it the frag out!"

Jack turned on a heel, Snowcone leaping from his arms as they snarled in unison, the backward billowing ties of Jack's mask flowing backward as Snowcone leaped and bounce upward, drawing in air sharply through its fangs.
"Air Bubbles!" A shot of compressed air launches forward from Bukamon's maw, heaving forward in a straight like like a shot form an airsoft gun right in the bird's direction, Jack's hands curling into tight fists as his kiddy, good natured smile faded into a harsh, determined scowl as he began to march up towards the bird, Bukamon following him and bounding back onto Jack's shoulder as they watched to see if the should could land, Jack looking just about ready to start swinging at the vulture himself.
"Everywhere you go there's always some bully looking to pick on people in a spot, well, I'd like to say I'm a bad bully's worst nightmare." He said, the mask and his almost seeming practiced stance making his words land a bit better.

The Biyomon took some rather special offense to Hiroya's bird flipping, they squinting angrily as they drifted down a bit closer. "Rrrawk! You wouldn't know good taste anyway you floozy! You won't have the money for clothes once I'm done ROBBIN' you!" they aggressively squawked at her, distracted enough to not see the Bukamon in Jack's arms exhale a stream of high-speed bubbles at them. The bubbles while are not exactly harmful to the bird, it does sting enough to cause them to dip a bit lower to ground from making them falter slightly.
Regardless, the Biyomon was not exactly fazed by the counterattack, especially considering it was only from an In-Training level it looked like. So they DID have a Digimon! But it was only a small fry! This should be like tasking candy from a Fresh level really! The human seemed to think they were hot stuff, but humans were wimps! He'll show these dummies how the Digtal World is REALLY like! "Rrawk! Oh, you think your tough wise-guy? Let's see how tough you are while on fire!" they exclaimed as they prepared for an attack.
"Spiral Twister! they squawked as they let out another flap, sending a spiraling stream of emerald-green flames forward; the attack was aimed towards Jack.

No taste? No taste?! "What would a feather brain like you know about taste? You don't even wear any clothing! You just fly around a being a thief! Who would ever listen to a thing you say?!" Hiroyo demanded, stomping a foot on the ground and wishing she had a way to pull the bird from the sky. She was positive that if the bird was on the ground, then Hiroyo would be able to tumble just fine and actually contribute something to the fight. As it was she was stuck playing cheerleader and trying to not get in the way.
"Go Snowcone! Blast that stupid pink duster again!" If all Hiroyo could do for the moment was cheerlead then she certainly intended to do it well! She was exuberant in her praise of the little brown seal. She definately wasn't vicariously living through the Seal beating on the bird, nope! Not a thing.
"Jack! Look out!" The red head clenched her teeth and seethed when she saw the fire spiraling towards Jack. She had to believe he could take care of himself because flinging herself in the way would only cause problems. Maybe, maybe she could think of a way to directly influence the fight besides being a meat shield.

Snowcone leaped infront of the blast of flame, bounding off the ground and infront of Jack, the green fire lighting him up and causing him to fall into the dirt.
But what pulled itself out of the flaming ball wasn't Bukamon's dark flipper, no. It was a muscular cyan blue arm clutching a dark brown club. Snowgoblimon pulled himself out of the sand and looked up at Biyomon with pure and simple anger in his eyes, an animal anger of protecting loved ones. Snowgoblimon winced at the small burn on his shoulder, puffing frigid breath onto it before opening his fanged mouth wide toward the diving bird.
"SNOW GOBLIN BOLT!" A hail of rocky and icey snowballs rained upward towards the scavenging bird, Snowcone's eyes dark and rabidly angry as he lowered down, charging toward the bird one his feet and knuckles like a rabid ape, the frigid air causing sparkles of ice crystals to stream from his lips as he ran, making a Beeline for the attacker.

The Biyomon squawked in shock as the Bukamon suddenly shifted form, the playing field suddenly far less tilted to his own favor. This was NOT what they expected... Lil' runt actually had some fight in them?! Even with that direct blow, they were still gunning for him?! "Rrrawk?! What?!" The Biyomon ended up exclaiming, attempting to try and evade the flurry of snowballs sent their way. While they managed to dodge a few, the torrent of projectiles was too much for the avian to go unscathed... a couple manage to slam into their gut, causing them to plummet down into the sand.
They landed beak-first, managing to quickly scramble back out, a look of bewilderment at the two humans and SnowGoburimon, their prior cockiness somewhat damaged. A fair fight was NOT exactly what they wanted, but he wasn't ditching these losers yet with his tail feathers lowered! The Rookie level aggressively growled as they jumped back into flight, backing off once more. "You should head back up north ya lil' snow freak! Talon Twist!" they squawked at the SnowGoblimon, flapping their wings as they sent another tornado forward, it aimed at the ice-affinity Digimon; the small storm kicking up sand as it rampaged forward.
