K's meditative period was anything but calm.
For a while, the Doctor was satisfied with just knowing that the Renamon was nearby. Even from his office, he could faintly feel her signal at most points in the day. Sometimes it perked up, sometimes it bottomed out, but K had made an admirable effort to keep her focus for this long. Of course, she hadn't gone through it alone: Mikemon alone had made an effort to come out, at least every week, to drop off a few supplies and perhaps share a word or two with the holy fox - or, at times, a holy wolf.
Then, for a while, there was silence - not a weakness of the signal, but a complete lack of its existence. It had been in the back of his mind so long that he hadn't even realized what happened, until he came back to that stump, and found the fox wasn't there. Alright... so where did she go? The feline had been concerned, but hadn't a clue of what had happened to her, nor a single lead to go on.
Nervously, he just had to trust her. And thankfully, waking up one morning, that signal fell back into place.
The doctor was relieved, concerned, and curious: pulling together another one of his 'gift baskets', as he'd been calling them by this point, the feline would once more make his way to the gnarled woods, to the center of the meditative aura. Somehow, it seemed different to feel - had something changed? Had she reached some revelation in the last month or so?
Seeing her rest in a meditative position, Mikemon gave a blink. His previous cards were still tucked away in that same nook. Aside from the more 'wild' state of the woods around, it seemed the same as ever.
Like several times before, the cat took a seat, resting just a few yards away. They'd been through this before, of course:
She'd notice him, without Mikemon needing to risk breaking her train of thought.

K had to admit when she first got here she was out of her element.
Before the entire thing had started she had a run in with a Spider. Then she had a human and meicrackmon desire training from her; along with fighting of forms. They had parted as friends. Then there was the human and their impmon as well. Past that even further was a small interaction among friends that had helped her along to finding more and more of her keys. Even allowing her to properly know two of them.
But then that was before she was taken, whisked away to the frozen wastes that she once called her home. She couldn't remember the events leading up to her being controlled by the tower itself but the small time that she was well... It was something she wasn't happy thinking about.
She had settled back into meditating in the same location after returning from that incident. Softly rubbing her neck at the thought of that ring around it. She'd consider her ventures from time to time; her meditation barely bothered by the interruption that she had suffered. Was it because of her core? Or perhaps once started she wouldn't regress as long as there was some form of progress in one way or another. It was strange picking up where she left off but.. She wasn't going to argue with it.
During her mantra rotation she felt a familiar presence approach; one that she was very comfortable with. It took some time for it to get closer and closer to her but by the time that it arrived she wasn't sure how to approach the issue of her being gone. What would she tell him?
The truth. Nothing but it. I have no reason to lie.
Her mantra continued as she slowly opened her eyes and let herself lower down onto the stump with a soft exhalation. She'd turn her icy eyes to the Doctor and give him a soft smile beckoning for him to come over.
"Mikemon. It's good to see you again, how has work been?"

Despite the difference in tension and the time lost in the pause, it was as if little had changed here. Once more, the Renamon had settled to ponder over the Keys, as well as her own means of existence. The familiarity made it quite comfortable for the Mikemon to approach...
... And as K finally spoke, beckoning him closer, the feline returned a similar smile. "K. It's good to see you again, too. Work's been fine; the Lillymon's finally on track to getting her voice back, and the corrupting aura has been isolated to a single part of the Biyomon's talon." Those were two patients that she may or may not had been familiar with, but regardless, the feline would step closer, and rest on that stump right next to K. A careful hand rested around her back, as the cat briefly leaned into her side, with a small nuzzle.
"But that's just work; how has this been going for you?" The Mikemon's voice was curious, but there was definite concern in his tone. "There was a good week or so that I couldn't pick up your aura at all. Did you head out somewhere to clear your head, or did something else happen?"
It was forward and to the point!

K felt her smile spread as the mikemon spoke; it was great to see a familiar face one of which that had been practically non stop help to both her and any cause she seemed to of take up. He was beyond supportive and it made her rather happy that she had someone that believed in her that much, or wanted her to succeed as much as he.
"That's good, is she a singer by chance? What type of corrupting aura was it anyways? Something virus related?"
She'd furrow her brow a bit and gingerly put her arm around the smaller digimon, wincing just a bit as she could feel some of her muscles twinge from their long rest mixed with the soreness of something rather dramatic. The nuzzle from the cat made the renamon flinch as some of her muscles weren't over what had happened either.
"Nn... it's been progressive. I've learned of Five keys and Know of two. Control, Perception Power, Loyalty and Forgiveness."
She'd pause after a few moments and look down at the mikemon, frowning slowly as she considered what had happened once more. Lying would do nothing for this; and it would leave such a bad taste in her mouth she'd likely just tell him later.
"Something else happened. I ended up with a strange ring on my neck capable of sustaining my Super Mega form for almost a week straight. I don't remember the events leading up to it."
She'd sigh gently and rub her temples looking down at the mikemon.
"I have taken two new forms since we've last spoken as well. Both MetalGarurumon-X and Examon; Both from rather.... interesting and surprising experiences. One of which you likely wouldn't like hearing about."
She took another moment and found herself grinning.
"I've been thinking about other things as well."

He was quite comfortable in her presence, of course, though as he felt the fox twitch at a particularly tender part of her side, the cat carefully pulled that nuzzling head away. Taking a quick look at the area, he blinked as he spotted two deep, purple scars: were those there before? Had something bit her?
It was a question for later, as his claws gently scritched down the Renamon's back. "No, not a singer - a weather reporter. And the corruption's something she did to trade for power. If it were to take hold, well, she'd be forced to pledge loyalty to some monster in the Dark Area. So, we're working on it." It was a bit personal for the Biyomon, so he didn't go into much more detail than that, despite his ability to.
K seemed to get through a lot of progress, though: five keys? "Hm. And only two are the same as the ones on my list, and they're flipped around in order. Though that should still only leave you one more?" Six seemed to be a universal trait, as did the 'three categories' bit, though he could easily be proven wrong. As he asked of her absence, the Renamon seemed to tense just a little, mulling over her thoughts.
Unsurprisingly, it wasn't anything she had done: she had simply woken up with a strange ring around her neck. "Hm, a Dark Ring? Honestly I wouldn't have minded to never bother with those Spires again..." The Mikemon growled, remembering the first time K had been taken over by one of those. That hadn't been all, though: two more forms?
"Hm... Examon, of all things? Is... that the one I don't want to hear about?" Shoot, now the cat was curious. All tension left his voice as he was now certain K was here, safe, sound, and meditating. And at the mention of other things, the feline returned that grin.
"Heh..." A hand moved down, gently patting the top of her leg. "Things like what?"

K could already feel the doctor looking her over, as by instinct of things that they had already been through. It wasn't a surprise to her and she wouldn't try to hide the fact that she had been injured. She wouldn't try to brush it off either or pull away from him if he desired to inspect it. Once he scritched down her back however the renamon let out a loose exhalation which was followed by her rubbing behind one of his ears affectionately.
"Her voice is her job then either way, I might have to pay attention to the weather reports after she's healed of course. Curious to know what she sounds like. That's some troubling corruption, hopefully you can get it sorted out. At worst wouldn't you be able to remove the talon?"
She'd scratch her ear and mull it over wondering quietly what it would mean for a digimon such as a Biyomon to lose a talon. Would they be able to grow it back or perhaps it'd be gone forever? If that was the case replacing it with a metal one would suffice; she knew of a few people that had that possibility be realized for them. Canton had always talked about getting an arm such as that before the inn was gone. There was a moment where she hoped he was okay and simply shook her head.
"Perhaps the keys shift based on personality, interests, things we've done, or things we will do. It's hard to tell. But yes, that should only leave one key left to 'learn'. Which overall leaves four keys I need to know."
She looked down at her hands staring at them for a moment before giving the Mikemon a small but somewhat affectionate one armed hug. She'd exhale slowly as she continued with the ring branch of the conversation.
"If I knew what led up to it, I could perhaps take steps to avoid it. But I don't remember. I do remember Standing guard up ontop of the Frozen Mausoleum... Thankfully that thing isn't a problem anymore."
She'd sigh softly and lean herself back just a little bit as he seemed to think that examon was the thing he didn't want to hear about. Biting her lip she'd slowly drawl out what had happened.
"Before I truly got settled in with my meditation I wandered in the forest for a bit, got deep enough in the jungle. Where I was attacked by a Dokugumon. It poisoned me with some kind of sleeping agent, took me to it's home and when I tried to escape it..."
She paused after a moment shuddering at the experience but continued on anyways.
"It came over and started draining my energy, my data. When I was forced to de-digivolve it attempted to eat me. I was almost gone when something spoke to me, a voice I don't know really. My own perhaps? It told me a bunch of things, said things that hurt and made sense. As well as offering me ideas and lessons on how to unlock the further keys. But before that I.. I digivolved into MetalGarurumon and was forced very shortly after to load the Dokugumon's data to heal myself. After that I returned here to meditate properly and... well. It's been a trip thus far."
There was a small nervous tint in her voice but at the mention of the next topic she broke into a cheerful grin.
"I have to agree with one of my semblances of self that resides in my mind. Asking me when I really last went for it. Like really went for it."
She'd look down at her hands and clench them tightly; that wolfish grin spreading a bit.
"I've decided that even without me being chosen as a Knight I will protect this world and everyone in it. I'll do the same with the human one as they have just as many problems as we do."
There was a pause and she'd turn her head to the Mikemon.
"But I've also decided another thing. It's a good thing and It's about us."

The cat didn't spend long analyzing the wound. At this point, it was little more than a dull, aching scar, one that would simply have to mend with time. One careful look was all he wanted, and soon he'd be leaning into that scratch, ear twitching as she asked about the Biyomon.
"If the current treatment doesn't show more improvement within the month, we'll have to. Neither she nor her tamer are taking it lightly, though: definitely a last option for her." It might have saved her life, but then again, it was her talon, a foot! How easily was she supposed to give that up? "If nothing else, I have to admire her strength through the whole thing. I... really don't want to end up having to give her that bad news."
Still, the keys were more-or-less as K described them: with some overlap, it truly depended on the person. "So being aware of them and mastering them are two things... or I guess you can think of it as realizing the lock?" Was that too poetic? The entire concept was abstract enough as it was, but it was likely K tried to picture it in that way already. As for the tower at the Frozen Mausoleum? "That's a... bold place to put one. Isn't there an entire holy sect designated to guard that place?"
Curious, but not something the cat honestly knew much about. Soon, the Renamon settled in for the main topic: her own advancement over the past few months. And it seemed that she'd been through quite a bit. She'd been attacked during her first few weeks out here? "Well... it is the wilderness..." And Dokugumon were quite adept at sneaking up at those unsuspecting. As feral Digimon went, they were purely menaces, and as K described it, well, the cat gave a wince. Had it not been for the boon of a new mega form and for absorbing the spider's data, she simply wouldn't be sitting there right now.
"... That explains the mark..." The cat shook his head with a sigh. Fortunately, K seemed to be over it, and quite happy with what she was to be: a Knight in deed, one that would act as a true protector - not just of this world, but of both! "Well, that's quite a task to take on, but... well, honestly, you wear it quite well." He grinned: he was about to remark about the Jesmon, but somehow, that didn't seem quite right.
As for that last remark? His hand paused on K's back, a small blush entering the cat's cheeks. The comment was endearing, but somehow, it made him nervous!
"... W... what did you decide?"

He didn't take long to do what he needed to did he? The renamon shifted and gently gave the top of his head a small pat. She rather appreciated the work he did and the things that he did for her, with her and just in general around her. She often questioned herself if she was deserving of this attention at all and often wondered to herself if she knew what to do about it.
"Hopefully you can manage to get the corruption taken care of... What kind of corruption is it? Or is that breaching on that Doctor patient thing telling me that much?"
The renamon shifted a bit and ran her hand along the back of the mikemon's head gently scritching as she went. She'd slowly nod at the Mikemon's words.
"Being aware of them and mastering them are very different yes. You could say that once you're aware of them you have the key, but a key is nothing without a lock so.. Once mastered it opens that lock. I'm curious to see what happens when all six are realized."
She'd quickly frown, mulling it over just a bit but she'd turn to look at the other mon briefly before raising her eyebrows. He was right on the money for that holy sect bit but she wasn't sure exactly what was the deal with them.
"I think so, I don't really know their deal or what they're about but they definitely didn't appreciate it being put in such a place."
At his next statement the renamon paused once more looking down at her hands. She could still feel the warmth in her body and still remember the warmth draining from her along with the data. She could remember that darkness and the epilogue that never happened from it. Her expression turned dark for a moment as she remembered the feeling of bursting from it.
"It's be prey or be the predator as far in as I went. I was ill prepared going there like that. But I won't be again. The mark serves to remind me of what I need to do just as the red mark on my chest and that on my neck. When it comes down to it, I cannot hesitate anymore. I must act accordingly and deftly else more than just I will suffer."
There was a small pause and she'd exhale slowly; letting the tension flow out of her. She was over the fact that beast had attacked her and tried to feed on her; but she didn't like the idea of what she had to do in order to prevent such an occurrence in the future.
"Thank you Dear, I hope that in the future it'll be something I can look back on fondly."
She'd grin down at him and tilt her head slightly as she noticed the blush; brows raised she'd lean down before giving the cat a firm hug. Properly this time before easing out of it after almost a minute of holding it.
"Once my days are done protecting the Digital world and the Human one. I decide I'm more than willing to settle down again, more than willing to come to whitewater and stay there with you. But not just as us. But as a family."
She'd sigh softly and rub her muzzle before sticking out her tongue.
"It might be a long time before that happens though..."

"I've hit the limit of what I can say, unfortunately. Matters aren't as straightforward as they should be..." The cat sighed, shaking his head about the Biyomon. Indeed, that was its own matter, one that would take quite some time. That careful hand across the back of his head quickly shifted the mood, the cat nuzzling against that paw.
"Mm... I knew of them, but I've never really used them. To those that even heard of them, its generally thought of as an old-fashioned way of thinking. Judging by the results, though, there's definitely more to it than that." Gently leaning against a better part of her fur, he continued to scratch at her back, the tips of his paws working away at a bit of the tension underneath.
So the angels were involved? The cat wondered idly about the tower, but soon shook that thought out of his head. There was little they could do about it, anyway, - it seemed the fault was those who put up the Spire, not the holy sect itself. The next part, of course, was more concerning: K looked down at her arms, perhaps still feeling that sensation of loading the Dokugumon's data into her own being. The way she spoke of her marks made the feline close his eyes, a small sigh escaping his expression. "For what its worth, K, I'm glad you're alright." Physically alright, of course - lessons or not, those mental scars would be held on her for quite some time.
What the Mikemon wasn't prepared for, though, was that sudden grip around him, a tight hug held around his back. After a moment or two, his own hands slipped right under her shoulders, returning the best hug he could for the Renamon. She mentioned this was positive, a conclusion she had come to. The calm realization that she came to, though, made the cat blink.
After all this was done, she would settle down with him? The cat smiled, almost smirking as that blush deepened on his face. "Well, frick... I think you just did this, but let a doctor cat be selfish for a moment, and say the same thing." He purred, letting the next words roll out:
"K, from the start, you've shown me your confidence, your true strength, your compassion. I've loved every bit about you, and have only grown closer over these last few months. So, K: will you hold me in your heart as I hold you in mine? To pledge our future lives to each-other, at the end of this journey together?"

"I understand, I just hope they can keep it. Might as well be akin to losing a finger I think."
K exhaled softly and looked up towards the sky, her tail swishing as she listened to the other digimon. She had never heard of them before her fusing with the Lucemon core realistically. Was it something that they knew about somewhere? Or perhaps the mish mash of things that made up her core was enough to get her started on that path? More questions for later as she found herself sighing a little bit as she felt him scratch at his back.
"Some old fashion thoughts hold true power behind them, I doubt it's going to be this easy or simple for everyone. I might just be a surprising case of them being actually a thing. Who knows really."
She wasn't expecting him to react to terribly to hearing where she had gone or what she had gone through in general. He understood that her life was rough and just simply being there was enough to support her honestly. There was a soft moment where she'd gently pat the mikemon's back.
"Thank you mikemon, I'm sorry that I worried you."
He seemed a little taken back by her sudden hug but she honestly couldn't blame him with how it had transpired after all. The renamon chuckled softly and gently ran her hands over his ears giving them a soft scritch.
"Of course 'Doctor Cat'; why wouldn't I?"
She'd tilt her head a little bit and get a wide smile on her face before dipping her head in a small nod. She couldn't really express how she was feeling right now; but she had to guess that she was as red as a beet.
"Of course. I'd jest and say to expect the same out of you but... You've already firmly proved it time and time again that's what you want so I'd certainly be foolish to inquire..."
K would lean back just a little bit, smiling warmly before reaching out to gently tap the mikemon's nose.
"Once I'm done with my meditation period, I'll be in the city for at least a week or so before having to take care of a few things. I would like to spend at least one of those days with you."

Well, the loss would have been closer to a foot than a finger, but K seemed to understand well enough. Aside from the Biyomon's foot, there was that spirit wielder who had to cope with having an entire arm and leg converted to a bionic metal, as well as another who had managed to trap himself in his Sprite form. In all, it just seemed to be a rough time in the Digital World.
As for K's process? "Mm. Maybe they're a thing if you want them to be? In any case, the results can't be argued with." Really, it could have just been another branch of philosophy, but as far as the Renamon had progressed and improved, no-one could really deny that it worked for her, at the very least. It was a footnote, compared to his other concerns...
... But the Renamon was alright. And she was even apologizing for her absence. "Oh, please, don't apologize." Running a hand over that scratching arm, he smiled, shaking his head. "It's not as if you had control over the situation. All I can really ask is for you to take care of yourself, right?" Well, that was as much as he could ask from her about that situation. But in that hug? Oh, he asked so much more: and to little surprise but to the Mikemon's absolute delight, she agreed.
His heart skipped a beat, as that just sank in. The cat... well, he'd just proposed. And K said yes. The blush on his face was probably as red as her's, simply nodding back to her comment. "Heh. My heart is your's, of course." He gave a slight purr, head slipping back an inch at that small poke. Once she was done out here, she'd spend a week or so in Whitewater - and spend at least one with the Mikemon.
With a blush, he gave a nod. "I'll make sure that 'day or so' is clear, then. I'll want to spend all day talking about what you've found, and seeing the city... and spend the whole evening with you." At that, he gave just a small peck at the side of her cheek, before pulling himself back, to simply sit on her leg. The blush held for several seconds longer, the cat's ear giving a twitch as he tried to pull his thoughts together.
"... Well. I'm still a touch curious - you never told me how Examon's form finally came to you." Ah, right!

K shifted slightly; mulling over the implications that the other digimon made. Sure they could be something if you wanted them to be, but wouldn't that just complicate things for you normally? Perhaps they were something that only certain people could do and she just happened to be a lucky invidual? She really doubted that one over other possibilities but it wouldn't be the first time that had occured.
"We won't really know the whys or hows; but yes I can't really argue the results they've given me."
She'd rub her temples softly, still worried quietly about the fact she might be missing something in the long scope of things. As echoes had gone, there were fewer and fewer of them. But perhaps that just meant that she was getting closer to the end? Or just getting too far away from where she was supposed to be going.
"I can't help it hah. But yes, all I can do is try to take care of myself even if the situations are a little messy."
The renamon snickered a little bit when she saw the blush and she'd gently give him a pat on the head. He was the worrying sort at the very least, but it was the happy sort of worry that she could see. She just hoped that she wasn't going to end up breaking his heart or something. She wasn't very good with relationship things and she also wasn't sure how to go about them all.
"Well if you can get a day off, when I get back I'll check with you and see which one or ones are open."
The renamon shifted a little bit and felt her cheeks turn rosy red again before grinning down at the mikemon. Here she was trying to achieve enlightenment basically and rather than that she ended up coming out of this with... Well. A partner of sorts she supposed. How did digimon even deal with this sort of thing? She didn't really have anyone to go off of now that she really thought about it.
Then there was the question about how she managed to get the Examon form. She'd exhale softly and give him a small exasperated smile, rubbing the back of her head all the while.
"Well. I've had visitors other than you actually. A tamer by the name of Carlos and his impmon dio. Then there's Haru and her digimon Tawna. The former I taught some things to better help them and the latter desired a duel of sorts. So of course I accepted and during the later part of the fight I well. Digivolved from Shutmon straight to Examon. I think it was a defensive reaction as we had gone a little further than intended. Oh! Right. They also digivolved to something else, I had never seen before. In fact I hadn't seen either the champion or ultimate form before and I've seen quite a few digimon I'll tell you that!"
She'd exhale wistfully and rub her muzzle; looking somewhat out of sorts. There was a moment where the renamon looked like she was going to say something, but as though she had thought about them earlier she was greeted with an echo.
The... S...
There was a moment where she almost fumbled her mantra from the suddenness of it and she'd spend a couple seconds padding herself over.
"....Now of all times..."

Yes, all she could do was take care of herself. Considering everything the Renamon had already been through, the Mikemon knew that K was quite capable, and thus didn't press her to be overly careful or anything in that regard. Right now, he was just glad to see her, a small purr rumbling from his chest as he finally sat down on her leg. With that blush still tinging his face, he asked about how she became Examon...
... And it turned out, the process was much less traumatizing than it had been for MetalGarurumon. Of course her aura attracted other visitors, of varying quality, and of course K would share some words with a few of them. But to think she actually sparred with a tamer and her partner Meicoomon - wait, those two? The feline gave a small blink as she finished the rest of her story: "Wait, Tawna? MeiCrackmon Vicious, right?" On that confirmation, the cat shared a laugh! "No kidding? I'm on the same team as them, a research group! Well, only as soon as last week, but heh, small world!" The Doctor was more familiar with the species, but it was indeed rare to see!
A moment later, though, the fox seemed a touch frazzled, as if something was on the tip of her tongue. Heck, it almost looked like she gave a small hiccup, or a cough, or something, as she tried to get herself back into focus. Seeing those hands pressed over her arms, the feline looked over at her curiously.
"... Now?" His tone was curious, but should K deflect, he wouldn't press further for answers.

K scratched the back of her head, sighing softly. She had so many visitors in the last month that it was a surprise that she managed to get anything done at all. The renamon shifted and looked up at the sky again, noting how the sun was and how the clouds had come back into this area. There almost was never clouds here during the day when she was meditating it felt. She could often tell when they were around because of the way that they blocked the sun from getting onto her fur.
She'd blink owlishly and rub her muzzle. Was that what they were called? She looked somewhat out of sorts as the mikemon knew not only whom she apparently was talking about but was in a team with them?
"I... Is that what they're called? But yes Tawna is one of my Disciples alongside of Haru. I didn't know you were in a team, a research group no less?"
There was a small pause and she'd raise her brows slightly. This was certainly some news to her, but she had to admit that it was a good idea for the mikemon to get around a bit more wasn't it?
"I don't think I told you about me joining AEGIS now that I think about it..."
Then came the part of her being rather out of sorts, her mantra had fumbled and she was left grasping at the echo. It'd resound a bit stronger after she rehearsed the five she knew of several times. She'd close her eyes and exhale a massive breath that seemed a little out of place for the body she had.
"The Keys have odd times to come to me, each one of them was from another person helping me in some way or form. Here I am getting the first portion of what normally makes up a line of my mantra."
The... Six...th...
The renamon felt herself getting a little short of breath and she'd gingerly rub her temples, wondering quietly to herself what was going on. They never had this much of an impact of her on their own but was it perhaps because of it being the last one? The renamon would grab her chest and let out a soft groan as she felt that echo resound even stronger, making her physical form crackle for a moment.
"Tch... It's a bit surprising to have it affect me so too..."

It was a small world, indeed. Giving a small twitch of his ear, the feline tilted his head at the Renamon curious tone of word, before returning a small chuckle. "Sheesh... knowing those two, it sounds just a touch 'grand' to be calling them 'Disciples'. Though, I'm sure there's quite a bit they can learn from you." And honestly, there was probably a bit that the Renamon could learn from these tamers in general as well. It didn't take her long to turn around the topic, though:
"Oh, you joined a team? I've heard about Aegis off-and-on, something like a defense group, right?" Well, that much could have been obvious from the name. But before she could give a real answer, K's condition started to... was deteriorate the right word? In any case, she felt that she was on the verge of another key, a point of realization coming into her mind. Honestly, the cat didn't consider that the realization itself could threaten her meditation:
"Are they usually this strong?" With a curious but concerned tone, the feline decided to drop any point of conflicting conversation. Instead, he'd rest a careful paw against her arm, and, if offered, take one of her hands into his own. "Deep breath, K. The road might be a little rocky, but you've definitely pushed through worse in your time out here." With a smirk, the cat pressed on:
"Think it through. If that's what comes first, what comes next?"
