"Heh I wish being a vet and a medic paid well." Cas joked kicking off her boots in favor of house shoes and settling down on the cream colored pullout couch the dominated most of the room. Her socked feet propped up on the coffee table as she leaned her head back.
"And no this place was pretty cheap. I mostly fixed it up myself. Bad neighborhood, bad part of the city, no one wanting to live even less work in the area made it less costly which is good. It was all I good afford when I first started up. I put all my money into getting the clinic running and just slept on a futon up here for months till I scraped up enough to fix the place up." She explained letting him have free range of the bathroom and room for the most part so long as he didn't venture towards her own personal door. The bathroom in question was a small one with just a sink, toilet, and shower/bath combo shoved into one corner making it a touch cramped, but suitable for ones needs.
Cas wouldn't comment much on his grasp of japanese though her lips would quirk slightly in amusement. "Don't worry you pick it up with time." She assures him hoping to soothe any of his wounded pride over his stumbling words. "Sides they know where my place is." She added with a smile.

The long haired man would listen to her explain the situation...Cole really hadn't explored the city much, he was used to a rather nicer--but pricier area. Barely scraping by with what he made. He'd remain standing, probably kinda awkward if she was one of those 'Sit down you're making me feel weird' people, but he wasn't he comfiest just yet to sit--and he wanted to make sure he wouldn't just topple over by pushing himself to keep up a while.
It wouldn't be too long before the food would get there--Cole as he said he would payed for it and would bring it back up to her flat--dividing up the two's meals and handing Cas her meal. "Next time I pay for a meal for ya' I'll make sure its more fancy then takeout, ok?" he said with a slight smile and even wink as he turned and finally sat down--somewhere fairly far from her spot on the couch. He clearly was a bit anti-social, but not impolite...was a strange mix.
"...So you said you're from America like I am, what state? I grew up in Ohio--nothing but ghettos and cornfields....pretty boring." he'd say to her, questioning where she came from as he looked over from his seat, when not speaking taking the time to munch down on his food.

Cas would take her food over to the coffee table after grabbing a soda from her fridge to drink. Settling herself down the the floor she'd lay out her meal leaving the island and it's barstools for Cole to sit at so he could be comfy, but not feel too entirely pressured. At his mention of a 'fancier' meal she simply chuckled.
"Well I suppose if I see you again sure. You able to make it back to your place tonight or do you need a spot to crash?" She asked with a tilt of her head as she popped the top on her hot and sour soup taking a bite of it with a happy hum.
"You're welcome to whatever drinks are in the fridge by the way as for where I'm from I'd say a little bit of everywhere. I roamed most of the south east from Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, little bit of South Virginia." She explained with a light shrug not really thinking too much on it. "Mostly mountains and woods and working with a lot of forestry services out there or on horses and cattle."
"Not a bad living, but I wanted to see the world a bit more." She added with a wry smile.

He listened to her words as he ate, letting her say what she was saying before he'd respond, making sure not to speak with his mouth full of course. "Southern states huh...quite a bit warmer there." he'd comment on where she spoke of, and as for her question...he didn't really know. He could probably physically make it back, sure--but it'd likely be super late at night--he had walked for hours before he was attacked and he wasn't as quick on his feet now...and if he was attacked again, seeing as it was dark, he likely couldn't defend himself. He seemed to be thinking on it for a bit before finally speaking...a moment of humble honesty.
"...I really don't know if I would make it home. I probably could but its basically night and as we've kinda figured out...not the safest of districts you're in over here..." he said, sighing. "But I don't want to be a burden to you anymore then I already have." he'd say, standing from his seat and moving to trash the container his food had came in after he finished it. As he moved he was still pretty sluggish, better then before but still not right. Stepping back over to where the young man had left his shirt he'd pick it up and throw it over his shoulder, looking over to Cassandra from over his shoulder. "I'll get going, it was nice meeting you and I thank you for your hospitality..." he'd say, turning to start heading for the door.

"Meh take a seat. If you head out now you'll just get jumped again unless I walk you out and I'm as tired as you look." Cas joked motioning for him to take a seat on the couch. "Besides I have a pullout bed for this reason and need to run out to grab some supplies from outside the district in the morning anyway. I can walk you out then." She offered even as she herself got up after finishing her meal and stretched. Closing off any food she failed to eat she carefully put it away in the fridge for later before turning back to Cole.
"Side as long as you're not planning to rob me you're welcome to have free run of the bathroom and the kitchen for the night. Just if you hear any weird noises in the dark don't panic that's probably my cats. They mostly stay in my room, but sometimes one of them might get the door open and slink about. They're pretty people shy though." Cas warned even as she moved to unfold the pull out couch.
"Come on. I don't want to have to stitch you up a second time. Grab some sheets and a blanket or two from that closest to your left by the stairs. The couch pillows I think should be enough for tonight at least." She quipped motioning to the small door in question.

Cole was most the way out the door when her words made him pause, after a moment the man sighing deeply and glancing back over his shoulder, seeing her putting away her leftovers. He raised an eyebrow. "You walking me outa here? Ok--yeah, cause that sounds right...not..." he'd say, shaking his head. He was a man after all...that just didn't sound right. He groaned at the thought of staying the night there but even he had his doubts of making it home tonight...he just gave in--he had hit rock bottom...might as well take the helping hand being offered--but just once. Cole didn't like being helped by others, he wanted to do things on his own...always had been that way. "Fine...I just better not wake up in a ice filled bathtub missing an organ, 'Doc'." he'd say, trying to make a joke out of staying there.
He'd turn to the closet she mentioned...after a moment he opened it and plucked a blanket from the closet--shutting the door as he turned and walked back into the room, giving the girl a look. "...Why are you helping me out anyways....not like you're getting anything out of it..." he'd question, tone shifted somewhat. He really only knew most people to be greedy--even he himself at times showed selfishness...so what made her want to help people--it made him curious. He would in the mean time go ahead and flip out the couch into a bed--didn't wanna make her do the work...he was an odd fellow--at times gentlemanly, other times he was selfish and stubborn. He tossed the blanket--still folded up--onto the newly revealed bed and sat on the edge of it, looking over to Cassandra--looking for the answer to his question.

"Ha ha. Laugh all you want, but you'll find laughing rather hard with a couple of knives stuck in you if you're not careful." Cas teased with a roll of her eyes stepping back to allow Cole to take over in terms of making the bed. Instead she settled for pulling the coffee table back out of the way as she went about closing the drapes and getting ready for bed herself. Yet when he asked her why she was doing this she paused turning to face him for a moment.
"The world is a F-ed up terrible place and I'd rather not add to that. If I can pay forward some of the meager kindness I've been shown in life then why shouldn't I?" She murmured offering him a shrug as she made for her door. Beyond it Cole might be able to hear what sounded like the excited skittering of feet.
"That being said get some sleep. I'll see you in the morning Cole." She added with a smile and as she stepped through the door closing it behind her with a soft click he could see two skittering forms within shrouded by the darkness and hear noises too muffled to be clearly distinct.

Yeah the knives comment likely didn't make the man feel very at ease, even knowing she was kidding...or hoping anyways. The man watched as she went about preparing for bed--finally coming to answer his question...Although her answer didn't exactly satisfy the man's curiosity...Cole was an intelligent man but he still had some things to learn. He couldn't exactly grasp it just quite yet. Clearly he had not been shown the same kind of kindness in a long time, just neglect and other negative results.
But he didn't have time to respond really, she was off to bed, saying she'd see him in the morning. "...Alright, sleep well Cas..." His response was a bit delayed but she likely heard it--Jade hues watching as she disappeared behind a door...but something caught his eyes, two figures shadowed by the darkness before she shut the door. She said something about cats...His eyes narrowed...was he seeing things? They didn't look like cats. An overwhelming sense of he same feeling he had many years ago when his sister kept her secrets from him came over the man, a hand lifting to hold the side of his head. "...I really must be out of it." he dismissed it all--sighing and getting comfy upon the bed, pulling the blanket over himself...he took one look at the necklace he kept tucked under his shirt, before hiding it again and shutting his eyes--resting until he'd fall asleep.
