Sunken in the Swamp [Yuu]

New areas were popping up all over the Digital World, and Marshal and Coronamon were quick to explore. This time their travels took them to the new area named the Backup Bayou. It...wasn't very pleasant. After all, it was a bayou. Swampy marshland stretched as far as the eye could see.
"The Digital World is beautiful when it wants to be," Marshal admitted, "but I think I'll pass on a place like this."
"I couldn't agree more," Coronamon said. He knew that Marshal was still weighing his options between the Real World and the Digital World, but hadn't made any meaningful progress on their journey. He had met some old friends here and there, but some new enemies were popping up at the same time. He wasn't sure if or when Marshal would reach a decision. For the time being, they observed the marshy swamps of the bayou, hoping something interesting would happen.

"Are you... going out again?"
There was a hint of sadness on that question. It was strange, almost forlorn. A voice that had held little to no affection in her recent memory suddenly was this deep.
Being honest with herself, Yuu didn't want to leave either, but she felt like she had to. It was a strange feeling; expecting for a moment for so long, yet letting it pass once it arrived.
And that's why she couldn't have nice things. ["I'll be back soon. I promise."]
Silence followed suit. It wasn't the expected answer, but there wasn't really much any of them could do about it. Maybe that hadn't been the best idea.
A Trailmon stopping midway towards her destination and leaving her amid a swampland hadn't been a predicted outcome, but that was fine; they'd have to make do with what they had.
Before they the duo decided to leave the area altogether, a familiar sight caught their interest. That was...
"Hey, Marshal!" Kyo called out. "What are you doing in this place?" It was a valid question both ways, but she had managed to say it first!

Before long, Marshal and Coronamon were set upon by a familiar pair. Yuu and Kyo were nearby, apparently. It seemed they weren't the only ones curious about the swamp. "Suppose we could ask you guys the same thing!" Marshal joked. It had been some time since the pair had seen the leader of PROFIT, so perhaps some catching up was in order.
"We've just been checking out the new areas that have been appearing around the Digital World," Coronamon explained. "It's been nice to have some time to ourselves for a while." Of course, that wasn't all that was going on, but Coronamon decided it better to leave other people out of the strange business that was going on with them unless it became absolutely necessary. Besides, if word got back to Bellamy that he was in trouble and hadn't immediately gone to his beloved for help, he probably wouldn't hear the end of it!
Meanwhile, something beneath the swamp began to stir. Anyone observant might have noticed bubbling around the deeper areas of the swamp. Also nearby, a very faint rustling in some brush could be heard.

Seemingly, the reasons why Marshal and Coronamon were here weren't really... interesting. Well, the duo could understand that feeling; truth was that neither of them was excited about being here.
Kyo shrugged, and began to say her piece soon enough. "Our Trailmon broke down and now we're trying to find our way towards Whitewater. You know... the usual, more or less." Were they having too much bad luck at the moment, or maybe there was something else in this place?
At least that's what she believed initially. Soon enough, she caught sight of what was stirring beneath the swamp, her eyes fixing on the event while preparing for the worst. Most of the time, they didn't get a warning before something... weird happened, but at least this time they could be prepared. "What's that?" She asked, signaling the bubbling of the swamp. "Do you think it's a digimon?"

Marshal and Coronamon didn't even have a chance to respond to Kyo's inquiry. In an instant, a tiny blur streaked across their vision and stopped above the bubbling area of the swamp. "Hah! So he was here the whole time." The Digimon was downright tiny. Marshal had to squint to see him, and he wasn't even that far away. However, the presence it gave off was downright menacing. "Come on out, ya big lug! We got work!" The Digimon that emerged slowly from the swamp was not as tiny, but just as menacing. It towered over the Tamers and their Digimon partners. Marshal tried to scan the two newcomers with his D-Terminal, but they were unidentifiable, just like... "Oh, great," he muttered to himself. "Now there's six of them.""Zamielmon..." the giant mumbled slowly. "Why'd you wake me?" "We're bein' summoned, Olegmon, why'd you think?" Zamielmon's speech was rough, and he talked to the giant Olegmon as if he couldn't just be killed by being stepped on. Coronamon, meanwhile, looked to Marshal immediately. They didn't even seem to register on the radar of these two. Was it worth fighting them? Maybe they could get away without those powerful Digimon noticing. "Hey, isn't that one of them humans I heard about?" Olegmon drawled, pointing one of his giant axes towards the group. Coronamon was immediately annoyed that he had wasted his time thinking that they could avoid confrontation at any point. Zamielmon looked towards the group and noticed Marshal and Coronamon immediately. He shrieked. "That's them! The ones I kept hearing about! Those two fought the others and lived!" "Even...Dorbickmon?" Olegmon asked. "Yes, that includes Dorbickmon, you dolt! Keep up!" Zamielmon was clearly distressed to see them, but that worked out in their favor. Marshal and Coronamon had just enough time to get together and fist bump, causing their evolution to take place. "Coronamon Biomerge to...Apollomon!"Apollomon stood ready to fight, and looked at Yuu and Kyo expectantly. "Don't suppose you guys can help me out for a bit, here? I'll explain later." It seemed that Zamielmon and Olegmon were busy arguing at the moment, so Yuu and Kyo had plenty of time to prepare.

Well, this was pretty... strange, in all honesty. Two digimon appearing out of the blue and seemingly having a beef with Marshal was something Yuu wasn't precisely looking forward to. But if they had to fight, they would fight. Kyo looked at Yuu, and she looked back at her. How to proceed was pretty obvious at this point, with the blonde taking out her D-Arc as it irradiated with purplish light. The evolution followed soon afterward. M A T R I X E V O L U T I O N Beelstarrmon manifested right away. Staring at their would-be enemies with some... hesitation. They didn't look to be the smartest knives in teh shed, if one asked her. "So... what are we doing 'bout them, Apollomon? Do we just kick their asses or... something else?"Considering neither Marshal nor Coronamon had said anything concise about their appearance, Beelstarrmon wasn't going to immediately jump to the conclusion they were enemies or something. Maybe they were just... annoyances or smth? Then again, they probably had biomerged for a reason. But Apollomon hadn't attacked yet, so... Yeah, a bit confusing.

Apollomon didn't necessarily want to get into a fight, but maybe he could take care of these guys before they were able to regroup with the rest of them. Without further pause, he lunged for the tiny one and prepared an attack. "Sunfire Punch!" he shouted, his fist lighting up with flame. Zamielmon was too fast, though, and he zipped out of the way of Apollomon's strike before he had even gotten close.
"Oi! What the hell do ya think you're doin'?" the little Super Mega shouted. "Don't you have any decency?"
Olegmon, meanwhile, was just reacting to Apollomon being right in front of him. He raised one of his giant axes and brought it straight down onto the Biomerged Digimon in front of him. Apollomon just managed to whip around in time and catch it, but it was a struggle to keep Olegmon from overwhelming him.
Zamielmon, meanwhile, scowled as he grabbed the arrow off his back. If this Apollomon wanted a fight, he'd give him one! He planned to strike while Apollomon was occupied with Olegmon, but he was vulnerable for a moment while he tried to aim.

It was truly time to get their hands dirty, it seemed! The teams were mirroring each other, at least after BeelStarrmon's initial assessment; a bruiser that'd take the front lines, and a ranged attacker that would support the initial clash.
This would be pretty interesting, even though the demoness was pretty confident on her chances; how to not be? The thrill that evolving into super mega provided was pretty hard to match.
Her movements were so quick that everything seemed to be happening in a split second; she drew her guns and in the blink of an eye, a barrage of lead was already taking into the air, aiming at pinning down either Zamielmon or Olegmon under the barrage while dealing a decent amount of damage. Those were her Silver Bullets.
In case she could pin Zamielmon, the next step would be obvious, and if not, at least that'd serve to distract him from attacking Apollomon while the two of them took care of Olegmon.
If anything, she was pretty sure that this fight would be over in short order. Given the amount of power currently displayed, whoever did the first misstep would bite the dust first. And if BeelStarrmon was good at something, that was at making her opponents misstep.

Zamielmon was about to throw his supercharged arrow straight into Apollomon's back, but was caught off guard by BeelStarrmon's gun fire. He yelped and tried to get out of the way the best he could, but was still grazed by the Silver Bullets. This caused the tiny Super Mega to take more notice of his attacker, and kept him from ganging up on Apollomon. Angered, he whipped around and threw his arrow at BeelStarrmon. It was a bit smaller than a normal arrow, but once it went airborne it lit up with a frightening amount of energy. If BeelStarrmon wasn't careful, that arrow could seriously hurt!
Apollomon, meanwhile, was still wrestling with Olegmon. The force exerted by Olegmon was enough to start pushing Apollomon down into the marsh. For a moment it looked like he would be overpowered, but suddenly a few ribbons of dark purple aura gathered at his feet and slowly rose up. For a moment, Apollomon was able to easily push back Olegmon's axes, but he felt his control slipping a bit. Before things got out of hand, he snapped back to reality with a new plan. "RAM Upgrade: Afterburner!"
At once, the dark purple aura disappeared, and Apollomon's typical fiery aura replaced it. "Afterburner One: Inferno Tsunami!" The aura compressed itself into powerful flames that enveloped Apollomon's entire body. Finally, he managed to get Olegmon's axes out of the way and charged into him at full speed, knocking him off-balance.

Thus far, it seemed like the fight was going in their favor; even if Apollomon had gotten initially pummeled by Olegmon, but managed to recover pretty quickly, and eventually deal a fair bit of damage to him.
Now, it was her turn, wasn't it? Zamielmon seemed to have been hit by her attack, and now would have a pretty hard time trying to avoid her next attacks, at least if Silver Bullets had worked as they intended to. No way to truly know the extent of her opponents' abilities just now.
The demoness prepared to move, all while aiming at the small digimon with her guns. This time, she wouldn't relent. A barrage of bullets flew in the small digimon's direction, aiming to cripple or at least deter the attack that was coming. If not, BeelStarrmon would get ready to get out of the way.
Right now, their opponents seemed to be a poor match to them. And that prompted the demoness to stay alert. They probably had some tricks in their sleeve if they had a hope of bringing them down, and that made her expect anything out of the ordinary happening. Otherwise... this fight would be a bit on the easy side.

Apollomon's body was still steaming from the effects of Afterburner, but he didn't want to let up. His aura flared to life once more, signaling that his Afterburner wasn't quite finished. He pointed his fist at Olegmon and braced it with his other arm. "Afterburner Three: Sol Arrow!" The aura concentrated itself on the jewels near Apollomon's hands, and let loose with a gigantic flaming projectile that exploded violently upon contact with the slower Olegmon.
BeelStarrmon's bullets rang true and found their mark. The arrow Zamielmon had thrown finally let all its energy lose, causing another gigantic explosion at the same time as Apollomon's attack. The two huge attacks sent shockwaves across the bayou, and potentially even farther. Once the dust settled, Zamielmon had regrouped with Olegmon.
"Let's get the hell outta here!" he suggested, panting heavily. It was clear that both of them were fairly wounded. With a quick tap behind him, a dark portal opened up similar to the one that the other Big Death-Stars had gone through to escape. Zamielmon pushed Olegmon through the portal with a great effort. Before stepping through it himself, he turned back to Apollomon. "Listen up! Our boss is gonna get what he wants, no matter what! You'd better be ready, cuz your days are numbered, Apollomon!" With those words, Zamielmon zipped into the portal, and it closed behind him.
Apollomon, meanwhile, was looking a bit worse for wear. He had never used Afterburner in such rapid succession before, and the effects were taking their toll. His entire body had smoke and steam rising off of it, and he was knelt down on the ground, seemingly in pain. His control began to slip once again, and the purple data tendrils started rising around him once more. Just what exactly was happening?

Well. One thing could be sure; right now, the two super megas were exerting a fair bit, and their opponents had been a pretty rough bunch thus far. But, ultimately, the victory had been definitely theirs.
It was a bit surprising, in all honesty; sure, the fight had been short, yet in intense. And that kind of scenarios tended to magnify the importance of each decision the both Apollomon and BeelStarrmon had made. "You know, that has been a pretty good fight. I think we're a fine team." The demoness finally said after the two digimon had left.
Before she could ask Apollomon who those beings were and why they were apparently hunting him, she saw that her friend's biomerge was getting slightly unstable. "Hey, Apollomon, are you okay? Do you need help?"
Truthfully, they didn't have access to any healing abilities so the amount of help they could actually provide wasn't much, but this didn't seem to be due to injuries. It was almost as if something... else was going on.
Yeah, it was a gut feeling, but BeelStarrmon didn't like what was happening. She remained alert in case more enemies were near, and began to scan the area to see if something was causing those violet tendrils of data.

In Apollomon's headspace, Marshal and Coronamon were unsure of what was happening. They tried to speak to one another, but their words were muffled. All around them, a fog of darkness began to close in. This wasn't just exhaustion, they were both sure of that. It felt like something was invading their connection. The two couldn't communicate, but they knew they had to drop the Biomerge as soon as they could.
Apollomon disappeared, leaving a horribly exhausted Marshal and an unconscious Coronamon in his wake. Marshal looked up at BeelStarrmon, his eyes blurry and faded slightly from the strain. "I have...a lot I need to tell you," he admitted. "Can we talk somewhere a little safer? Maybe back at Kongou Island?" Their "vacation", it seemed, was finally coming to an end. Marshal knew running around trying to soul search on his own was getting tiresome not only to him, but also to Coronamon. Perhaps confiding in a friend would help, just this once.

The answer the demoness got was indirect at best, but... it was good enough, at least for her; quickly undoing their own biomerge as soon as Apollomon did the same, Yuu and Kyo stared at each other before finally staring at Marshal.
"Seems like you have." Kyo remarked, a bit nonchalantly, even if some concern was more than a bit obvious in her voice. Yuu began to sign some words, the Plotmon quickly interpreting them. "Sure thing. Let's see if Colin's using Daedalus; if he's not, we probably can get to Kongou in the blink of an eye. If not, the usual means will have to do."
The two couldn't but wonder what exactly was happening, and most importantly if they could do something to help. In any case, the blonde began to check what means of transportation they had available, and which was the one that could get them to the safety of Kongou the quickest.

Kyo mentioned Colin, and Marshal clammed up a bit. "I'd rather not talk about this with Colin around, especially if Bellamy's nearby." Based on his facial expression, he seemed fairly adamant on that fact. There was no way they could talk about everything that had been going on with them around those guys, especially since they were about to go on a dangerous mission to the Dark Area together! Communication was certainly important, but if they knew what was really going on, Bellamy would never allow Coronamon and Marshal to help them in their most important adventure to date. Marshal had to think of a backup plan, and fast.
"Let's get to Whitewater and take a rest before heading back," Marshal offered. "I know a place there where we can talk without being overheard." The young man walked over to his Digimon and picked him up. "I think there's a Trailmon station nearby, why don't we see if there's a line to Whitewater for something different?"
