Another day, another job--Wait...Who are you? (Dart/inv-Job)

The sun sat high above, softly baking the ground below with its beams of light and heat--the setting was just at the very edge of the Cipher Jungle, where it ended and lead to the landscape leading towards Whitewater City Trees slowly cropped up, grouped up, eventually leading to a dense jungle--but this was before that point, when trees are alone or in small groups of 2 or three. It was somewhat hot this day, but as a cute uniquely colored DemiDevimon perched high up in one of these lone trees, a leg lazily dangled off the edge of the branch she rested upon, the other stretched out along the branch. This bat-like Digimon leaned back against the trunk of the tree, eyes shut, a content smile upon her features as the breeze pushed the leafs to fan her as she sat.
This was Trinity, a Bounty Hunter, and bodyguard for hire. She seemed relaxed, she wanted to chill...the heat was a bit much for her, and possessing natural night vision, she'd decided to wait out the day and relax, so she can get to work at night. What was that work?...Frankly she didn't even know. The cursed 'mon was forever haunted by the fragmented memories of her past, of her former self--former life...But that is a story unknown to her, only hinted at through images, flashes, dreams. Still, they haunted her...her smile slowly faded, the thought of the Ghostly figure that outlined a Gaomon she'd seen not too long ago before earning her Digimental. She huffed a sigh after a deep breath, and put this to the back of her mind...she was relaxing, and thats all that mattered right now. "...No one better bug me." she mumbled to herself in annoyance at the thought.

A lonely gear looking digimon hovered gently above the ground, whistling a merry tune to himself feeling undeterred by the high noon temperature. Every time he came across a nice tall tree, he would stop only for a moment, not to rest under its shade mind you, but rather to quickly scan it with his eyes, looking for something, or rather someone.
As much as he would have wanted to sleep a short nap in the shade, this was no time to lazy about! He had already travelled all the way from the east to this place; he couldn’t afford the luxury to rest now! He had to get his job done. The city and surrounding areas certainly looked a lot more inviting than the rickety old dessert town that was Rustport, that’s for sure. Not that the digimon know as Dart had anything against his quaint little residence, having grown fond of the relative calm the dessert offered.
Unfortunately for him, as well as the residents from that town in general, supplies were hard to come by, so they mostly relied in trade and outside sources to get the needed materials for survival. And indeed, that was exactly why the small technician had travelled all the way across the dessert to the South, as the resources needed for maintaining the delicate equipment in his workshop were more easily found here, close to the southern city. But, as much as he would have loved to go on his own, he had been coaxed by some of his peers back in the town to hire some sort of bodyguard so he wouldn’t, in their words, “get his stupid smart ass murdered by an angry digimon or somethin because he talked more than necessary.”
Oh, those guys, always were looking out for him!
Regardless, he had been given some money and specific directions to hire someone that was known for being a trustworthy bounty hunter by the name of Trinity. Alas, when he went into the city looking for her, he had only found an empty office with a “closed” sign hanged outside. Luck was still on his side however, as after some asking around the locals had been kind enough to point him in the most likely location where the Demidevimon would be now.
And indeed, after a good ten minutes of looking at nothing but tree after tree, he finally hit the jackpot, as he noticed a small figure lazily perched atop one of the tree branches.
“Ah, hello up there!” Dart greeted, looking up at the small devil with a friendly smile. “Excuse me, good miss and or mister, but would you by any chance happen to be or know the bounty hunter known as Trinity?” He inquired, curiously. Sure, she (or at least he assumed was a she) certainly fitted the description provided, but it never hurt to ask!

The day was sure to still hang around longer, the high noon sun told that story with no need to look at a clock, Trinity was sure she'd be able to rest in peace for the next few hours...seems that won't be the case. She never moved from her perch, eyes shut as she relaxed, but the smell of another Digimon approaching would catch the DemiDevimon's nose.
'...Not today...don't do it....don't....just don't.' these thoughts crossed her mind as the scent got closer and closer. Her relaxed expression slowly shifted to annoyance, although this would be impossible to see from down below. It was too hot for her to have to work...well, work meant money at least. Still, she hoped the approaching Digimon was just passing by.
A voice echoed across her ears, and she let out a huff of a sigh. Yep, looking for her specifically, great. She listened to the floating cog below, eyes never opening as she did. A silence fell, just a small one, as if she was going to dismiss Dart completely, but she didn't. A sharp but lazy womanly voice called back down to Dart. "You're speaking to her...whats the job, and do you have the cash to even afford me..." she'd say, quick to business it seemed--she never beat around the bush. She provided a service, if someone was looking for her--she expected to be paid for her time.
Trinity's eyes still never opened as she'd slowly stand up upon the branch. The DemiDevimon's wings spread out a small bit, first stretching, before she dropped line a stone from the branch. The bat-like furball dropped in quickly, wings giving one mighty flap at the end to slow her landing, coming to land gracefully next to Dart--a bit of dust flying up from the wind of the single flap of her wings, unsettled into the air.
Crimson hues burst open, a sharp glare to Dart, it was clear she wasn't pleased to have been bothered when she was trying to relax. "You do realize a closed sign on the door means closed, right? Might have to charge you double for bothering me on my day off..." she'd add, turning a cold shoulder towards Dart as she folded her wings to her body, looking at him out of the corner of her eye. She'd catch a better whiff of Dart's scent, and her stern look momentarily shifted, eyes opening a hint wider in question...Dart's scent...something about it seemed familiar...just as the ghostly figure she'd seen days ago seemed familiar.
Her eyes quickly narrowed back in anger and she turned towards Dart. "Just who are you anyways...you already know my name, whats yours." she demanded an answer as the DemiDevimon glared up at the floating Cog. This wasn't a question, she expected an answer....Damn, Trinity was uptight. But people knew she was good at her job, even if a bit...under-powered currently. Still, if the Hagurumon couldn't go beyond his current form, she was stronger then him with the access to her Digimental to become Witchmon.

The cog’s smile widened when Trinity confirmed her identity. Great, so he had found the right digimon! And…she seemed quite annoyed at the little cog’s presence, something that he, of course, was oblivious about, reading others was not exactly his forte. With beaming, the Hagurumon hovered closer to the Demidevimon. On close inspection, she seemed rather...small to be a body guard, but he figured that was probably a non issue if her reputation was of any indication.
“Oh, money is not a problem, miss! I managed to save up enough to hopefully come to a good agreement, plus some donations from a couple clients of mine. You know how it is, everything’s fine and good until your AC breaks down and you don’t have the spare parts to repair it. Sad business that is.” He rambled on. Hopefully the body guard wouldn’t get easily annoyed by talkative digimon, because Dart’s motor mouth skills surely put most of them to shame. He had a hard time being direct and to the point, and only on very few occasions he seemed aware of that fact.
“Indeed I do, and had it been a less urgent situation I would have looked elsewhere, but regrettably, this is indeed urgent, and I needed someone capable and easy to locate. And if the locals are right, you’re both of those things.” He tilted his head…body…gear a bit, sounding slightly apologetic. He was all too aware of how annoying customers were when one was having a day off, but this matter simply could not be delayed any further.
“Also if you intend on charging double I’ll be more than willing to pay for it, but it will have to wait until I get safely back to my store, I’m afraid I don’t have that amount of money on me at the moment.” He apologized, slightly trying to hide his small distaste for Trinity already asking for double. She hadn’t even heard what the job was!
“Ah yes, my name, I almost forgot! Well, not really, I’d have to be quite forgetful to forget my own name heh, but I do tend to forget about introductions sometimes. Chalk it up to social awkwardness, or at least that’s what my fellows back on the town think of me…or perhaps just awkwardness in general.” He blurted out, letting out a chuckle as he did so, before falling silent for a moment, looking a bit confused. He was forgetting about something, but what? “Where was I? Oh right! Introductions!” He said, and bowed slightly to the round digimon as he brandished a small, bent and twisted piece of metal on one of his smaller cogs. The small rusty medal’s engravings were too withered by time to be readable, except for four letters:
D.A.R.T.
The Hagurumon had no recollection of where that small metal chunk had come from or even what he meant, all he knew it was that it belonged to him and had been around since he hatched out of the egg. Ever since then he’d refused to leave it behind, taking it out with him every time he left his home. It brought him some peace and quiet to his mind, somehow.
“I am D.A.R.T., Diligent and Reliable Technician, at your service! Rolls right of the tongue, I know, but I feel it communicates exactly what I do for a living and what people can expect from me. Pretty spiffy to have a name like that, if I do say so myself.” He said with a smile, a mixture of pride and cheeriness in his tone as he described his name. Truth be told, he wasn’t quite sure what the acronym on the medal actually meant, but he figured that was as good an interpretation as any.
“So, now that we have exchanged formalities, are you still interested on this job?”

The DemiDevimon seemed to find herself a chatty one today, it was going to be one of those days it seemed. It frustrated her, but she'd shove it to the back of her mind, or try to for now...depended on how long the Hagurumon would ramble on for. Trinity eye'd Dart while he'd continue on, trying to patiently wait for him to really get to the point.
This would seem to go on for a bit, Trinity's face fell to a very neutral expression, lacking any reaction or readable emotion as she listened to the Hagurumon. 'Okay...money isn't an issue it seems, and the job? Name?...Anything other then how awkward you are?' crossed the crimson hue'd bat Digimon's mind as she awaited her answers...they wasn't coming quick enough, now he seemed to loose track of where he even was. Still, she held her annoyance. She tried to tolorate him...even if she'd rather just walk off at this point and continue enjoying her day relaxing.
The floating cog would tilt, what would equal a bow for him, Trinity's crimson hues narrowing slightly, but he'd brandish a piece of the mechanical Digimon that wasn't part of him, a rusted and bent piece of metal. She'd look at it, focusing a moment. For a brief second her heart sank, she couldn't make out anything other then D.A.R.T., but...something about the medal. Unless he was really paying attention, he'd miss the fact this made the DemiDevimon grind her teeth for a moment.
What about this old piece of scrap made her heart sink when she seen it? She'd been answered one question, yet given many more at the exact same time. What was it about this...'Dart' that was familiar to the Bat 'mon, what made this little chunk of metal make her feel uneasy again. It was tearing at her. Then it came to her. It washed over her, her eyes shifting from annoyance to just...well, like she seen a ghost, and she'd quickly turn away to hide her expression, putting up her mask to glance off to the side. Dart went on to explain his name...she listened, despite being very much in her own head right now. "So when my AC is on the wack I should come find you..." she said, almost monotone, it was clear she heard what he said and even responded, but she was no longer in this conversation mentally.
Flashes of her demise at the hands of a Bounty in her former lifetime burned into her mind. Trinity had the chance at three lifetimes, the first eluded her, but the second was rather clear. Sometimes fuzzy, as all memories, but better then her time before. When she'd been reborn from an egg, she too had a similar item...what looked like what could be described as a medal, she had no clue what it was...it bared her name and nothing more could be made of it--a bullet hole through the main part of it. She clutched her jaw tight as she was reminded of this time, surely lost to time, that was...who knows, 50 years ago? She knew its fate though. Her own fate...fallen at the hands of that devious Nero, surely the medal was left where she died in that lifetime she sought revenge for.
But for now she had to ignore this, tactics took over, she'd likely get no where demanding answers from this Hagurumon, so she'd simply have to play ball with this job, and hope answers turn up on the way. She'd look back to him, face back to neutral. "...I'll cut you some slack and not charge you double. I want to know the job...you need protection, have a bounty you wanna put out on someone?" she said, tone a bit easier then before, less sharp. Still, she wanted answers, not the run around. Sadly, Dart would probably test her ability to remain patient. Today was going to be a long day...but maybe it'd be worth it if it meant she'd find some answers. Something told the bat the cog could lead her to some of the answers to the question she had...just...who was she before? Time will tell.
