As Cassius returns to the room, he sees Cloak brushing Cas' hair. It makes him feel a little uncomfortable seeing his former victim who reversed their roles in such an innocent light, but at the same time it warmed part of his cold heart. What really catches Cassius off guard is when Cas takes offense at his shoddy attempt to cover up his scar. The doctor brings up society's double standards of beauty and his inexperience covering up blemishes.
"What? You're not some kind of feminist, are you? On second thought, I take that back."
Cassius stands there as Cas wipes his cheek with a wet hand towel. The touch of her fingers on his chin is soft but firm, as she blends the cream to match his natural tone. The irony isn't lost on the thief. The woman who gave him that scar is now covering it up. It was probably just so Cassius could better look the part, not coming from a place of any concern or kindness. Cassius manages to get out a sheepish "Thank you."
At the castle, Cas instructs Cassius to offer her his arm, and introduce her properly. She also mentions that he is the only man around, thus rendering his boastful wager moot. Cassius scratches the back of his head.
"Ya, uh, actually I haven't quite figured out what your alias is. Let's see, uh, Princess Veronica of Old Terminus? No, damn it, Cassius, you can do better than this. How about Lady Fantasia, of the Eastern Timberlands? No, that sounds kind of like a hippie. Oh, wait, I got it."
Cassius puts on a confident grin and offers Cas his arm. He struts up to the PawnChessmon and does a formal bow, gesturing with his free hand.
"Greetings, noble knights. My name is Sir Caspian, and this is Doc- ahem, Princess Cassiopeia, of the kingdom of Casalot. Have you been before? It's so gorgeous in the summer time. Nice castle."
While Cassius' attempt to fool the guards left much to be desired, it seems to work.
"Ah, welcome! Right this way."
Cas and Cas stroll past the guards and start walking up a staircase. A bead of sweat runs down Cassius' forehead, fortunately on his left side. The guards talk amongst themselves after they pass by.
"Wow, Princess Cassiopeia is quite stunning!"
Cassius continues walking up the staircase with Cas on him arm, still maintaining a fake smile. He speaks softly so no one will overhear.
"Did they really buy it? Maybe I'm getting worried over nothing. I'm not used to playing a role with such a beautiful woman around. Don't let it go to your head."

"I thought thieves were meant to remain cool under pressure? Are you certain you are a professional?" Cas asks in a low whisper just loud enough for Cassius to hear, but not their supposed guides. The Woman herself though is quick to rest her hand gently in the crook of the Theif's arm the dark blue velvet of her long opera gloves oddly complimenting the black of his sleeves and the teal of his vest as she walks with poise. Carrying herself like a Queen even as she ignores any stares that might linger upon her scars, the flesh too badly warped and damaged to be hidden by mere makeup. Yet the Tamer meets any lingering gazes with a polite, but even stare or an arched brow reminding those rude enough to do so of their manners.
Cloak and Dagger though remain close upon their heels with Cloak doing his best to hide his displeasure at Cassius's closeness to their Tamer while Dagger settled for occasionally willing the man to be set aflame with his eyes. "If they bought it it certainly wasn't because of your acting skills." The little Zubamon mutters softly under his breath.

So far, so good, but they would have to keep the act going for some time. Cas questions whether Cassius is really a professional, sighting his lack of remaining cool under pressure. Oh, this would not sit well with his ego.
"Well, I cannot demand perfection from myself all the time. Keep talking like that and you're pretty little face will-"
Another guest looks over at the group as they are walking by.
"light up the entire room with your intoxicating beauty."
Cassius maintains a positive façade until they pass by the guest. It bothers the thief how people would stare at Cas' scars. Though he couldn't say that he didn't as well when he saw them. As much as part of him loathes Cas, there was no denying how much he cares about her, and values her opinion. He found it hard to be civil when she criticizes his skills at his profession. No one said it was going to be easy working along side each other.
Regardless of their internal struggles, from the outside they appeared to be a lovely pairing. Cas' appearance drew attention like a moth is lured to a flame, for more reasons than one. Her scars may come off as shocking, but her elegance and wonderful attire were second to none. She is playing the part even better than Cassius had expected.
Cloak and Dagger struggle with seeing the rogue so close to the doctor, arm in arm. Their rage burned so hot, one could almost feel the air get warmer as they pass by the chilling man and reach the twins. Unlike with Cas, Cassius shrugs it off when Dagger criticizes his acting skills. He doesn't expect the twins to cut him any slack.
As they reach the top of the stairway, two large wooden doors open to reveal a grand ballroom. All kinds of royalty have gathered here, many paying great tribute to the king. The royal vaults would be filled to the brim with treasure. Cassius can see dollar signs popping up above Digimon's heads, as he examines their clothing and fantasizes about what sort of gift they brought. It was hard to resist attempting to pickpocket some jewelry. His fingers start to twitch a little.
"My, what a wonderful crowd. Sure beats hanging out with my regular compadres."
The guests have the chance to socialize with one another. There is a dining area filled with a variety of rare delicacies, and a large floor in the center for dancing. There is a stage off to one side where musicians play.
"Well, the real fun doesn't start 'til tomorrow, but there's no reason we can't enjoy our time here. Can I bring you a glass of wine, milady?"

Cas would smile pleasantly at the compliment no matter how forced or false keeping her facade as the couple strode across the room toward the area where many of the nobles were lingering and mingling. A sort of who's who of the digital worlds upper crust. Letting the thief guide her the group moved towards one of the food tables. Spying her 'escorts' twitching fingers Cas resists the urge to roll her eyes. Ignoring his light banter she releases his arm to thread her fingers with her own stilling his hands and ensuring he could not go on a stealing spree too early into the plan.
Once they are however, out of hearing range she arches a delicate brow at him her lips quirking into a shadow of a smile. "There you are Cassius for a little while there with all your false gentleness and compliments I'd worried it was an imposter in a holosuit attempting to sway me." She murmured carefully snagging one of the suggested glasses of wine from the table herself as she gripped the handle of the flute delicately between her fingers and took a small sip. Savoring the flavor for a moment she released the thieves hand and motioned for Cloak and Dagger to politely help themselves.
"Yet now I see at the first sign of confrontation we're back to our old tricks. You almost had me worried there." Cas spoke chuckling softly as she cast her eyes over the crowd with a leisurely glance looking the picture of relaxed royalty.

Cas kept up her persona as they strolled through the elite of the Digital World. She notices Cassius getting a bit jumpy at seeing so many precious valuables to steal. Could he hold out until the big kahuna, or would he surrender to his urges and jump at the first trinket he could? Cas interlocks her fingers into Cassius' hand, hiding his twitching. It felt strange for Cassius holding on to her hand. Was that the same hand she used to slice into his face?
When they are out of hearing range, Cas mentions that she had her doubts that he was the real Cassius, and not an imposter, but his true colors shined through his façade. As she takes a sip of wine, Cassius couldn't help but lick his upper lip a bit, before bringing his hand up to his mouth and turning his head, trying to downplay his action. Cassius speaks quietly to make sure he isn't overheard.
"So, I was even able to fool you for a while? Don't act like you know me, sister. I've got the inside scoop on you. The truth is, I'm actually enjoying myself for once, and you're not bad company. So please, just for tonight, can we put aside our past? I want to know the real Cassandra."
Cassius is more anxious than he would admit to being. A fantastic setting, so many valuables around, and the woman who etched herself on his mind like no one else could. Though try as he might, he couldn't keep his feelings about Cas to himself. He didn't want to. After what had happened the first time they met, Cassius had seen another side of the doctor. She is fascinating to him, and he wants to know more. Cassius takes a sip of wine from his own glass, before raising it up and taking a big gulp.
"Yuck. I wouldn't use this mediocre wine to poison my worst enemy. Still better than the bootlegged garbage the Yokai are fond of."
Cassius' eyes dart around the room to make sure no one is watching, then reaches down and pours the rest of the wine out in a potted plant. He twirls the glass around in his fingers before setting it down on the table. Cassius extends his hand to Cas.
"Would you care to dance, Princess Cassiopeia?"

"Of course you want to know the real me." Cas murmurs a soft chuckle falling from her lips, but it's mirth is hollow and almost cruel. A laugh at her own expense more then his even as she takes Cassius's offered hand with eyes that glitter with dark amusement. She waves for the twins to wait even as she lets him spin her out onto the floor. The pair moving with the music, but Cassandra's gaze never leaves his as if searching for his soul in the bright green depths or his eyes.
"You may have had me suspicious, but you don't have me fooled Cassius. There are lots of different weapons in this world and the most dangerous ones are rarely physical." She whispers so softly only he can hear her. Her words drowned out by the music for any listening ears even as the Doctor lets him spin her, her skirts flaring out like a sea of dark blue night.
"I know why you want this information. You want to know me. Want to understand me. Want to learn how to break me." Cassandra spoke soft and low as the music slowed spinning them into a slow dance that brought them so close he could pick out the thin ring of red inside her iris that seemed to shift and change with the light. The blue not quite the right shade. Not quite the shade he might remember.
"I'm not going to hand you the tools to destroy me Cassius, but I will ask you this. Do you know how Damascus is made? They heat the steel. Putting it under extreme pressure. Folding it over and over literally breaking the blade in the heat to make it stronger. They break it and break it till it cannot be broken any longer." Cas murmured her whispering breath caressing the shell of his ear as she spoke
"You were pulled from the fire early enough to resent the forge, but the kiss of the flame. Oh Cassius...." She chuckled the sound bubbling from her throat sweet and rich. Her words as derisive towards him as they were a mockery unto herself.
"It's all I've ever known."

Cassius grins as Cas takes his hand, and he spins her out onto the dance floor. It was more than just the art of dancing, as they trade barbs back and forth. When they are close together, Cas mentions that there are lots of different weapons, and the most dangerous are not always physical.
"You speak so convincingly, Princess, but would you say that with the cold touch of a blade pressed against that pretty little neck of yours?"
To anyone watching them, they would have no clue that something sinister was going on between them. To Cassius' surprise, Cas was quite the beautiful dancer, the allure of her dress as she twirls causing the thief to choke up a bit. Maybe in a battle of wits with the doctor, he could hold his own, as he could on the dance floor, but both at the same time? His skill is being tested, and part of him resents Cas for it.
"There was a time not long ago I wanted to break you, but now, I want to strip you down of the masks you hide behind, and feel your soul close to mine."
As the music slows down, they dance close together. Cassius holds Cas' hand out while his right hand grasps underneath her arm, pulling her in even closer. His gaze never breaking contact with her eyes as he sees the red color flashing in the light. Something had happened to her, but he isn't quite sure of it. Cas goes on to speak of steel being forged in a fire, breaking the blade to refine its strength.
"Your intelligence is without equal, as is your beauty, but I don't have to lift a finger to break you. Your pain will consume you. No metal can withstand the heat forever. Just as iron sharpens iron, you have forged me into the man that I am."
Cassius reaches down and squeezes Cas' butt, sinking his fingernails into her flesh enough to sting, but not enough to puncture the dark blue dress.
"Just remember, you are still a woman, frail, and overemotional. A man like me can always break you, no matter how many times you've been forged in the fires of life. You will always be inferior to me."
Cassius resorting to sexism to try and shake Cas. Desperate... As the song ends, Cassius turns and dips Cas down. While supporting her with his left hand, he runs his right hand down her spine, touching as many of her nerves as he can. When he reaches the base of her spine, he moves his hand around her waist, then continues down her outstretched leg. Cassius leans in for a kiss, so close that Cas can taste his chilling breath on her lips. He moves in for a kiss, but raises his head and looks up at the crowd. He brings Cas back up, wrapping his arm around her waist. Cassius smiles, and takes a bow as several guests clap for the duo. The thief leans over, and whispers into Cas' ear.
"You are flawed beyond repair, and that is why I care about you."

"Oh Cassius~" Cas purrs soft and seductive and every syllable dripping with danger as her eyes alight and there's genius and madness in those orbs. For while she might shudder in shock at his touch even through her gloves he can feel the cut of her nails on his skin and when she smiles her smile is sharp and feral. So unnaturally sharp as she tilts her head back and laughs as they dance. The sound bright and delighted and giving every illusion of a woman having a wonderful time to those ignorant of their battle, but it is a death knell to the man who holds her in his arms.
"They call weapons 'she.' Ships, swords, knives, bombs, men have named them all for women. Because the most dangerous weapons are rarely physical and mankind looked upon utter destruction beautiful and terrifying and whispered in awe our names." She murmured in a low tone that was all smoke and whispers, her eyes half lidded to where he could just see the sliver of her iris catching the light like the glint of a blade as he dips her low. Seemingly taunting him with her coy sharp smile to kiss her. To dare lay his lips on hers and find out for himself the cut of her teeth and the razors edge of her tongue, but he does not. The two take their bow even as he leans in to whisper in her ear prompting a soft chuckle from Cas giving their fellow dancers the assumption the man had said something particularly witty to garner the Princesses good humor even as the woman herself half turns. Reaching out with velvet gloved fingers to trace her thumb over the man's cheek tracing the nearly invisible line of his scar in a mockery of a caress. In a scene that appears so very intimate and soft to outsiders, but is as much a taunt as the Thief's sly pawing during their dance.
"The heat won't destroy me Cassius." Cas whispered as she leans close pressing her forehead against his own till all he can see is her eyes, their breaths mingling quick and fast from their dance. "Because when you burn forever all that is left is the flame." She murmured as the music began once again. Shattering their moment of quiet as she released him turning to fetch herself a drink and retreat to her Digimon's side. For if looks could kill it's very like the two rookies would have eviscerated Cassius in that moment.
Cas did not acknowledge his proffered words of care whether false or true. Let him peer through the cracks in her facade and then see if his sentiment still held. In the meantime, Cas thought pouring herself a glass of punch as she took to the solitude of one of the alcoves with Cloak and Dagger close on her heels, she'd peel back Cassius's mask in turn.

Cas' voice alone could drown sailors, let alone her radiance, but Cassius would not allow himself to beckon to the siren's call. When he sees her smile, he can see her fangs in full. Cas mentions to him how weapons are given feminine names, for mankind knows the wrath of women.
(Thinking) "She's taking everything I throw at her, and firing right back at me while laughing like she's enjoying it. What will it take to shatter her defenses?"
Cassius would not give up. He would make Cassandra vulnerable. He would gaze down at her as he did once before, only this time, he would see the fear in her eyes. The fear he saw in a picture from her book. Cassius promises himself that he would win this war between them.
It is when Cas graces his face with her touch along the scar that she gave him that Cas had won this battle. The other guests had no idea that this playful gesture was really a checkmate for this round. Cassius becomes noticeably flustered, almost breaking character, but without prior knowledge about what happened, the guests wouldn't think anything of it. Cassius does his best to appear calm, cool, and collected. Though Cas had to know how much it affected the thief. Cas leans in, as they press their foreheads together. Cassius looks down, gazing into Cas' blue and red eyes. When she mentions fire, Cassius goes in the opposite direction.
"There's nothing warm about death, and you died long ago."
Cassius stands there and watches as Cas returns to Cloak and Dagger. He stands there, consumed by different emotions. He tries not to let himself be lured in by her beauty, but what man was not enchanted by her while in her presence?
(Thinking) "There has to be something I am overlooking. Some weakness, a flaw. What am I thinking?! I've taken my eyes off the prize. This is supposed to be about the payoff. Getting closer to Cas is a perk. Calm yourself, Cassius. Relax..."
The thief was hardly focused on raiding the royal vault at this point. His mind had been occupied by defeating Cas during their back and forth. He decides it is time for a change in strategy. testing himself against Cas in a battle of mind games was like playing tennis against a wall. If he couldn't go through the wall, he would go around it. Cassius walks over towards Cas and the twins, giving them some space as he watches the other dancers. He rests his elbow on the ledge of a pillar, appearing to be in deep thought. Pretty soon, some guests would be coming up to them to flatter the duo for their dancing. Both of their facades would soon be tested.

Cas smiles coyly at his words her lips curling around the rim of her punch glass and tilting up the edges of her mouth as she sips her drink. His bare faced jab was meant to wound, but misses its mark so far as to be a compliment. For that which is dead cannot die and a Lovecraft once said perhaps can eternal lie. And with strange aeons even death may die.
Yet as the other guests swan up to the little group Cas is careful to quench the fire in her eyes, her blue orbs once more sparkling with amusement and intelligence as she works to charm their doting compatriots with her wit and manners. Becoming in a moment once more the elegant Princess clever and bright as Cloak and Dagger stick close to her sides ever the watchful and wary guards. A role they need not stretch far to play.
"Thank you." She murmurs glancing up through her lashes at a Mistymon currently paying her compliments. "But really dancing is hardly a chore when one has an excellent partner. Though years of ball lessons do help." Cassandra as Princess Cassiopeia adds for a princess would have been formally trained. While as a girl to make adopting her more appealing she'd been shoved into dance classes with others in hopes that some wealthy couple might want a promising ballerina. She had of course never been a ballerina, but ballroom dancing had stuck. The little girl she had once been clinging to the steps as she imagined herself dancing the night away in a castle not unlike this with a handsome prince.
Funny how her childhood fantasy had come out so very very twisted and wrong.

The thief is doing his best to keep up appearances, as the guests start flattering them for their performance on the dance floor. Cas mentions that Cassius, or rather Caspian, is an excellent dance partner. Was this just part of their façade, or was Cas toying with the thief? He couldn't help but overthink it.
Cassius turns to face the guests, his phony smile probably realistic enough for them to believe he is sincere. A Piddomon walks up to them. It was easy to tell how excited the angel is.
"Wow! You two were so amazing out there! I wish I could dance like that."
"Yes, as Princess Cassiopeia mentioned, it's all about finding the right partner. I was worried our height difference might play a factor."
"Oh no, it was magical! So romantic. You two must practice a lot."
"Well, my lady has lots of talents. It isn't always easy coming from a royal family. What with etiquette classes, dealing with lousy servants, all while looking gorgeous. And there is always the threat of danger. It is good she has us trusty guardians to protect her from those who wish to harm her."
Cassius wraps his arm around Cas' waist, appearing stoic and confident. One couldn't tell if it was part of the act or not, but Cassius was starting to buy into their illusion, taking pride in accompanying the beautiful princess. Quite a step up from his usual company. Cloak and Dagger were likely fuming with rage seeing Cassius posing as Cas' guardian. It was like some sort of twisted fairytale created because of a plan Cassius concocted out of greed, but he couldn't deny the way he feels about Cas. He gazes down at her eyes.
"You are a dream in the nightmare of life, milady. I hope you are having a wonderful time this evening."
Piddomon swoons over the 'couple'.
"I just hope that one day, I can find a love that is as grand as yours."
(Thinking) "Heh, right. He doesn't have a clue."

"I'm sure so long as we are together my love even incarceration in the dankest of dungeons would be, but a pleasant afternoon with you by my side." Cas or Princess Cassiopeia murmurs leaning into Cassius's side without a hint of hesitation as she gazes up at him becomingly through her lashes. Only the Thief himself could feel the stiffness of her muscles beneath his grip and the way her spin was as straight and rigid as steel.
Beside them though came the sound of shattering glass as Cloak glanced down at the remains of his drink the red wine running like rivets of blood down his sleeved hand as he releases his grip letting the glass fall to the floor before he can be cut. "Do forgive me Milady..." He murmurs nodding polite to Cas, but his eyes finds Cassius's and for a moment the Kotemon's golden gaze flashes red. "Sometimes I forget my own strength." He adds and though his words are pleasant there's a darkness to his tone as he steps back neatly catching his twin's arms as the Zubamon grits his teeth and tries to school his features. Leaving it to the servants to clean up the mess though Cloak is polite enough to thank them quietly for their service, ever the gentleman.
"It's fine my knight. Accidents do happen after all." Cas murmurs with a smile her grip on Cassius's arm tight though one might pick out a hint of concern carefully hidden behind her gaze as she assesses Cloak's condition. Her shoulder's relaxing minutely when she realizes he has not been cut.

"I agree, my darling. Though I doubt a man of my stature would ever do something so petty as to be locked away in a dungeon. Though I wouldn't mind being locked up with you, Princess."
Cassius could feel the stiffness of Cas' back as they stand side by side. Even so, the thief could lose himself in her eyes if he let himself become her prey. No, he had to put his feelings aside. He had to be strong, and not succumb to the allure of the doctor.
Suddenly the sound of glass shattering pierces the air, as Cloak's wine glass shatters in his hand. Cassius positions himself in front of Cas as quickly as he can to protect her. Fortunately, no one is hurt. Piddomon lets out a girly scream in terror. Cassius turns, and takes Cas by the hand.
"Are you alright, my love?"
At this point, not even Cassius could tell where their façade ends and his feelings began. His genuine concern for Cas' safety was masked by their deception. The thief hopes that Cas would believe it's all part of the act. The servants come over and clean up the mess.
"That was a close one. Broken glass is so sharp. Best not to play around with sharp objects. One could cut oneself, or someone else."
The guests would not know what he is referring to, but it was all too clear to Cas. Even though he is trying to maintain his persona, he couldn't help but poke and prod at the alleged Princess, reminding her of the pain that she caused him. A wound that could be covered, but still remains.
"Perhaps we should wind things down for the evening. Where will we be staying?" I hope our room is as pleasing as the rest of this castle. Also, does anyone know where the royal vault is at? I want to make sure my gift is properly delivered."
Even with Cas by his side, Cassius was true to his greedy nature. As much as he wants to raid the vault, Cas' approval was the real prize.

"Yes it is ever so sharp..." Dagger drawls tilting his head ever so slightly to catch the light on the wicked blade on his head as he eyed Cassius earning a smile from his Tamer at the subtle threat. "It's terribly lucky none of the pieces got you in your quick defense of the Princess." The Zubamon adds even as Cloak lets out a soft derisive snort.
"As if I would ever be so clumsy as to allow the Princess to come to harm." The Kotemon murmurs, but there is murder in his gaze and a dark look that makes even his twin stiffen at it's familiarity. Yet the moment passes as a pawnchessmon approaches them with a bow.
"Right his way your royal highnesses. If you do not mind Prince Caspian we shall get the lady settled in your suite before we escort you to where the gifts are being presented." The little Digimon explained motioning for the group to follow him. Cas would remain grateful for the distraction even as she arched a subtle brow at Cassius's not so subtle threats and jabs.
"I am certain the Prince is plenty eager to make a good impression upon our lovely hosts." She murmurs holding the Thief's gaze as she silently urges him to appear a little less eager in his pursuit of the vault. Misdirection of course was key.
"Though if you do not mind we would love a tour of the castle later. I've heard you have such lovely gardens." Cas adds hoping to throw the Pawnchessmon off their scent and coax it into showing them around in the process.

Cassius nervously rubs the back of his neck after Dagger's comment. The thief wasn't going to get anything over their heads.
"Not that I meant to insult your ability to protect the Princess. I'm sure you've done a fine job defending her in my absence."
Great, now he was getting into it with the twins. Ego, Cassius... A PawnChessmon approaches the group and bows. Princess Cassiopeia would be escorted to their suite, while Prince Caspian would be taken to the royal vault to oversee his delivery. Cas requests a tour of the castle first.
"Yes, a tour would be delightful. Plus I don't wish to leave the Princess' side any longer than need be. Though she must be getting tired of my constant flattery. Can you blame me?"
Cas was making the plan go smoothly. A tour of the castle is just what the thief needed to plot a quick getaway. As they reach the royal vault, Cassius' 'gift' is about to be loaded inside. It is a large wooden chest with gold trim being pushed on a cart. If all goes well, it would be vital in looting the treasures that wait within.
"Ah good. I see that my concern was for nothing. Your King has a fine group of men in this castle. And just look at the architecture! I won't say anything to insult Casalot, but oh ho ho, this is quite impressive."
If it wasn't for staying in character, Cassius would be liking his lips right now. If he could raid the royal vault, he would never have to steal again. He could tell the Yokai to shove it, and live a life of luxury. The only thing that would make it better is if Cas would join him in living the high life. A fool can dream. Cassius stretches his arms out, and takes a big yawn.
"Oh, that wine is starting to catch up to me. I may retire to our suite early tonight. Though maybe you could have one of the servants bring me a plate."
A thief, requesting to be waited on hand and foot. What an imposter.
