Prelude to Reconnection [Owen]

Heh, good old Quill, reliable as ever. Owen wondered if the others of the old unit would be the same. Although he pondered about the part of staking down his life. Owen was a little uncomfortable at the thought, but, he could see where the Hawkmon was coming from. Staking his life on a cause was one thing, but, if someone wanted to hurt Logan, that was one of the few situations where Owen would drop everything and fight to the death. For Hikaru? Well, of course, Owen would fight by his side, but he respected the Dorumon's power enough for him to not think of him as powerless.
Then Quill mentioned they should find the others. Owen came up with an answer immediately. "The DWR's heart was in the west, so if there's any of us left around from back then, they'll probably be drawn toward there" he said. The Gaomon thought on this a little longer. Somehow wearing this old tunic again brought out a new part of him. "I've heard of this place called the Hardware Den. It's apparently a huge junkyard of old things. I'll wager there's a bunch of old DWR property there, so surely our old friends might be inclined to go in that direction, yeah?".
Owen didn't know this for sure, but, him meeting Quill again today after all this time made him think that things might be trending well for the fortunes of bringing the old gang back together.
"So then, how about we head West after we're done here?" he asked the Hawkmon. Even if he wasn't entirely sure they would find much in that direction, well, he felt that it would be best to check it out perhaps.

Quill pondered for a moment about his next move. Owen had a point; the Hardware Den was probably their best shot at finding the others if they had retained their memories. However, a feeling in the back of Quill's mind told him that maybe a detour was in order.
"Actually, sir, I plan to make a few stops along the way," he admitted. "The Hardware Den is definitely on my list of places to check, but if I can round up a few of the others along the way, then that would be just as good. I planned on making my way down to the south today. Perhaps we can agree to meet in the Hardware Den after going our separate ways to find the others?" It seemed he had put some thought into this, and rightly so. Just making a beeline for the base was Quill's original plan, but there was no sense in going straight there if nobody else knew about it or cared.

Owen was a little bit startled at being called 'sir' again after all this time, but, yet, he felt comfortable with it. Even if it was a word spoken from a digimon to a superior officer, it reminded him that he had to always act as someone that deserved to be called so. That was one of the first things that he was taught when becoming an officer after all. That he was to become a leader of other digimon, lead them to their objectives and uphold the legend of the 7/71st. At least... that was how it had been in the old DWR days.
Owen listened to Quill's reasoning for parting ways. And it was all perfectly understandable. Since it seemed that Quill hadn't had the complications of other reconfigurations before now, maybe he would be in the best position to learn more about their past than Owen was? "Alright. That'll be fine" he said in response. Still though... it kinda felt wrong to leave this place back how they found it - abandoned.
Owen searched around for a little bit more, hoping he would find something of use. And... he did! A sealed off bag of old 7/71st unit badges, that could be sewn on to any piece of clothing that any digimon of the unit could wear. Of course, some digimon had to be creative with it. A Hagurumon for instance couldn't wear a tunic as he could. But, each digimon managed to wear the badge proudly in one way or another.
"If you find anyone else, Quill, do you think you could get them to wear these?" he asked the Hawkmon subordinate.

Owen looked around a bit and returned to Quill with a bag of old badges, much like the one he had found. "Yes, sir," he said, giving a salute before taking the bag. He didn't see anything else of importance in the base, so he decided to make his way out, hoping the Captain would follow him. Once outside, Quill took a sniff of the fresh air and smiled. He was excited to continue on his journey, and the winds were perfect for a trip to the south. "Well, Captain, it was great to finally see you again. I will see you at the Hardware Den in a few short days, hopefully with a few more friends." In preparation for his long flight, he focused internally until the power of his Digimental came forth. "Digi-Armor, Energize!" "Hawkmon Armor Digivolve to...Halsemon, the Storm of Chivalry!"Quill's new form stood, preparing to take off. "Anything else before I take off?" he asked.

As they returned to the surface, Quill activated his armor digivolution, attaining his Halsemon form. Owen was kind of proud to see that his old comrade was able to achieve such a thing. He was also able to armor digivolve, but since the Gaomon had a more practical form in his Perfect level for flight, he didn't do the same for the time being.
"There's nothing else for the moment, Quill, see you in a few days then" Owen replied. "There's... some things I need to deal with myself in the meantime". Namely telling his son about his newly regained memories, Logan had a right to know that. And, of course, if the old platoon was to reform again, well, there was a certain Gatomon he needed to find as well.
"Dismissed for now, Corporal" he said, giving a final salute to the Halsemon before they parted ways. Until they would meet again.

Quill nodded as Owen dismissed him, and the Halsemon took off through the skies. The wind was certainly on his side, thanks in large part to his Current Amplifier. In a few short hours, he would find himself in the Southern Tropics, where he would search for more of his old comrades. There were a few names and faces floating around in his mind, but Quill just hoped that more of his comrades were still out there, and that they could remember him. Owen had finally come around, but he seemed to have initially forgotten about the 7/71st, only remembering the number of the squad.
As his flight continued, Quill wondered who he would find first. Would he run into Dart first? Or perhaps even Trinity? Or maybe...her. He hadn't thought about her in a while, but now that the journey was truly on, he couldn't be sure how that Digimon would react to seeing him again, if she remembered. His mind racing as quickly as his wings were, Quill sped off to the south as the sun continued its climb into the sky.
