General Description: A long secluded part far to the east of the Digital World, the Blossom Isles two large islands that are heavily reminiscent of ancient Japan in its locales and architecture. The weather is forever set to a Springtime setting, meaning that flora flourishes and gives the entire region an awe-inspiring beauty all its own in the already varied areas of the Digital World. Humble villages, an ocean-spanning bridge that was the center point of an age-old clash, cherry blossom groves of unparalleled majesty, and serene zen gardens make up the different locations of this island chain. The locals are friendly and warm to outsiders so long as they’re respectful and do not cause any trouble.
------
History: The Blossom Isles have always been among the more isolated areas of the Digital World, especially once the humans arrived. Wary of what the strangers would bring to the Digital World, they hid away from the rest of the world in order to keep their people safe from what could possibly be an outside threat. Since then they have kept to themselves and have become detached from what has been going on in the rest of the Digital World. Human partners are unheard of for the inhabitants due to their isolation, so in the event they join up with a human they could potentially be apprehensive about the idea.
The isolation didn’t equate to a peaceful life to the Digimon of the Blossom Isles, far from it. There was much internal strife over the decision to remain cut off from the rest of the world out of fear of what the humans could be capable of. Some wanted to see the potential good things this could do for them, but many others argued the problems that would arise from such a sudden shift.
Eventually physical conflict came to pass over these disagreements and various regions of the isles fell into a state of civil war that persisted for years to come. Contact with the rest of the Digital World was sparse if any was made at all during this period of strife. The battles were massive in scale and a great many Digimon were lost. It sullied the otherwise wondrous landscape and it seemed as if it would never truly come to an end.
However, a mysterious group banded together to overthrow the ruling powers in order to at last open the Isles to the rest of the world once more. Tactimon, Grademon, Taomon, Zamielmon, Zanbamon, Shurimon, and Ravemon. They formed the Seventh Lotus and they organized a formidable force under their banner. They deployed new tactics to take down the greater forces of the opposing side, from subterfuge to new battlefield strategies. The war would continue for a long time to come, but now those who opted for access to the outside world now had a fighting chance.
For a time, those who followed the Seventh Lotus knew peace under their protection, but they were all growing weary from the constant threat of battle or invasion. Whatever outcome occurred, the war had to come to an end if lasting peace was to finally be realized. However, to even attempt a siege on the castle town of Sakura Vale, the Seventh Lotus had to take the bridge spanning the islands. The Shinriku Bridge is under constant guard and direct attack is almost impossible, so they had to devise a strategy. Under cover of night, several flying Digimon traversed under the bridge to send messages in hope of inciting rebellion while others prepared for battle, hanging beneath the bridge to prepare for a surprise attack when given the signal the next day.
It was a gambit, but it was all the Seventh Lotus’ army had. The gathered force charged the bridge and began the pivotal battle for the bridge. When the fighting reached the middle of the bridge, the Seventh Lotus got their wish. Reinforcements from the other side had joined the battle, and the ambush squad joined them to flank the enemy army. What would have been a losing battle swiftly became a decisive victory for the Seventh Lotus. With them holding the bridge, they prepared for the final battle.
The siege on the castle town of Sakura Vale lasted well over a month with both sides reeling from exhaustion. With little other choice, the members of the Seventh Lotus mounted a final attack on the castle. They stormed to gates and sent the enemy into complete disarray in this final desperate attack. Each of the main members of the Seventh Lotus mounted their own assaults to completely splinter the enemy forces, though this came at a cost. All but two of the seven were defeated in battle, their data destroyed in the process. Only the Taomon, Sho, and the Grademon, Kenji, survived to finish the battle with their forces.
Finally, the battle, and the war, came to an end when Kenji defeated the enemy leader, Butenmon. With their leader defeated, Butenmon’s forces surrendered and the army of the Seventh Lotus cheered for their victory and mourned the loss of their companions. Kenji took Butenmon’s place as regent of the Blossom Isles and Sho stood by his side as a loyal adviser.
With the new leadership in place, Kenji’s first order of business was to send out envoys to get information on what has transpired in the Digital World during what would now be called the Lotus Wars. Along with that, he ordered the Isles establish communication with the other regions of the Digital World to begin diplomatic talks. A new chapter begins in the land of everlasting Spring.
--------
Sakura Vale: The capital city of the Blossom Isles situated on the northern island. A dense cultural hub, this city is the most populated and acts as the established diplomatic center. With architecture similar to the towns of ancient Japan, visitors will be treated to a part of the Digital World both historically familiar yet also brand new. The streets are neatly organized and separated into four districts situated in the four corners of the city limits. The Trade District hosts a variety of shops and general businesses. The Residential District is where the citizens make their homes. The Entertainment District is host to theater events, talent shows, as well as some specialty restaurants with some of the most skilled chefs in the region. Lastly, the Noble District, which is where the heads of society aside from the regent live and conduct their business. Like the name suggests, it is surrounded by groves of cherry blossom trees, the petals flowing through the city streets in a magnificent display. However, it does often leave the streets a complete mess and regular clean up crews sweep away the petals.
Sakura Vale Castle: The castle is open to all who wish to visit, and the lower floors have even been converted into a museum for various artifacts and local art projects. The most impressive of which is a monument to the Seventh Lotus in the courtyard, which displays the seven core members to honor them. However, when important meetings need to be held, it is closed off to the public while the regent meets with his adviser and allies to discuss matters. The regent lives on the top floor of this impressive structure and the white outer walls compliment the cherry blossoms fluttering in the breeze.
Cherry Blossom Groves: The sprawling cherry blossom grove that surrounds the perimeter of Sakura Vale. It is largest collection of cherry blossom trees in the entirety of the islands. It serves as a popular area for picnics and relaxing strolls. Due to the nature of the Isles, the blossoms are always in bloom and the grass a verdant green. Days with light breezes are a sight to behold as the petals and grass blow in the wind. Some may view the constant barrage of the color pink as obnoxious, but others view it with complete respect and a symbol of the islands.
Shinriku Bridge: A massive bridge that connects the two islands. No one knows how this impressive structure came into exist, but without it the trade between islands would be impossible. The sturdy wood and stone materials are under constant care and watch by powerful Digimon. It curves ever so slightly upwards towards the middle, enormous pillars supporting the entire span of the bridge. The view of the ocean is a marvelous sight, making it quite the tourist attraction. Due to how long it takes to cross the bridge, some trade caravans camp out on the bridge, so if you see one, maybe buy some wares for the trip ahead.
Hinageshi Village: A village of the southern island. Known for its peaceful, agricultural lifestyle, the citizens here make their living growing and catching food to live off while selling the remainder through trade routes. However, it also has a very popular landmark. Natural hot springs provide a wonderful spot to relax after a long journey, making this village a frequented rest spot for travelers.
Shiragiku Monastery: A hilltop monastery home to many philosophical Digimon. Various Zen gardens are available to meditate within to achieve clarity and inner peace for those who decide to walk down that path. The Digimon here are more than happy to mentor or guide others if they are asked. The central training room has an open roof as the Digimon there believe that training under the open sky is spiritually enlightening. Sparring is allowed here, but combat is otherwise forbidden, and the guardians of the monastery will react accordingly if this rule is broken.
Suzuran Fields: Open, hilly fields that take up a large portion of the southern island and the first place after crossing the Shinriku Bridge. These grasslands have several gently streams flowing through towards the oceans with small bridges dotting them at various intervals. Shrines depicting various powerful Digimon are set up along the paved roads that are said to give fortune to travelers if they leave offerings. Due to the size of the fields, it is an ideal place to possibly build a home or establish a base of operations and still have plenty of space to spare.
