MPC Scenario: Welcome to what's quite frankly known as a Bonus Round. This is the 50th MPC. Which means that there have been quite a considerable amount of rounds of MPC prompts in total. Basically? You can rummage around in the archives here and pick out any prompt that you want to make an entry out of! Just make sure you specify which MPC it is and provide a link if possible.
Requirements: As always, all Monthly Roleplay Challenges require 1000 words to be graded. You may do this alone, or with friends, if the thread contains at least 1000 words by all participants. If you have multiple participants in a thread, everyone must make at least 1000 words in total.
Release Your Dark Side!
It was with a look of horror and frustration as Basile watched Cinder fall back down to earth, Cinder in her Mega form Hadn’t been enough to win against this band of Virus Types. Mega’s all of them, they had attacked while Basile and Cinder where having a day out with one of Basile’s friends and her partner, Miyu and Bloom. Bloom could only go up to ultimate and was taken out quickly, not dead but certainly unconscious alongside Miyu, who'd been too close to one of the enemies attacks. Basile and Cinder had poured every ounce of strength into the battle, supplementing Cinders energy with Basile’s but it still wasn’t enough.
The worst, most pragmatic, cruel sides of them knew. That if they abandoned their allies then Basile and Cinder would survive. It would be a cowardly escape, but an escape none-the-less. Neither wanted to, but you couldn’t help your darker thoughts, could you? The side of you that you lock away, so you can pretend you’re a perfectly polite and well-mannered individual when in reality all you want to do is walk up punch someone as hard as you can and feel their jaw shatter under your fist. Cinder was staggering to her feet as Basile desperately poured his energy into her, but it wasn’t enough. They Both Knew It. It was simply a matter of who would break first.
The Virus Types landed, laughing and jeering over getting such a ‘tasty’ catch, a Mega level and an ultimate along with 2 humans would keep them fed for quite a while. Basile was drowning in his negative emotions; Rage, Frustration, Pride… none of it was helping his mental state right now. He could only grip his Digivice tightly and start pouring his emoti----…. Wait. Like a light switch being flicked on. He had an idea. A cruel, terrible, Evil Idea.
Digivolution was powered by emotions, with the right trigger Cinder could digivolved to a higher form and would no doubt take down their attackers quickly. But how to get her to that point? You must upset her. To make her reach an emotional breaking point… he’d have to attack her verbally. To rip her apart from the inside out and abuse every fear she had. As the Virus Types were arguing over who got to eat who and which parts of whom, Basile spat rather than said the words ‘I thought you were the girl who wanted to be the strongest? You can’t be that strong if you got taken down by these 5’
As he finished his little dialogue he caught just enough of her face from the side to realize he’d hurt her feelings with that. Ashamed of himself but needing to power through if they were to escape this alive he kept ranting ‘In the end you’re just a pathetic weakling, You got your partner and your only friends killed. It wasn’t those morons. It. Was. You.’ If Basile had been paying attention, he’d have noticed an ominous purple glow coming from his Digivice as he continued to berate Cinder trying desperately to get her to Digivolve.
As he watched a single tear trace itself down Cinder’s Cheek as his comment hit home, he wanted nothing more than the world to swallow him up and eat him. He was close, He could feel it. He could feel the Digivice shaking in his hand. One more comment would push her over the edge and would make them stronger. He knew exactly what he had to say but he didn’t want to. Gods did he not want to. It was too much. It was way too far. Even after they survived she’d never be able to trust him again.
As he looked on towards the brawling Virus types he knew he had to say it. He was going to Hell for this if there was an afterlife. He took in a large breath before saying ‘Then again, I should expect nothing less from you. You Failure. I never trusted you, you know? All that time we spent together? That we were growing close? It was an ACT. It was a Lie. I never liked you. I never thought of you as a partner. I thought of you as a Tool. I may not have been able to wield your power. But you could, for me. Right?’
Cinder fell to her knees, unable to think, unable to do anything about the Brawling Mega’s in front of her. Her world had shattered, Her tamer hated her. He always had. He’d lied to her at every point of their relationship and had pretended to be her friend. Basile on the other hand would have rather been Actually Killed than to say that to his partner. As Cinder fell to her knees, the tears he’d been holding back flew freely. Then the world glowed, both Partners glowed an ominous Purple before slamming into each other in a cruel mockery of Biomerge-Digivolution.
The beast that stepped out of the Biomerge was a Virus Type itself. It was a Tyrant. As the Beelzemon looked over the cattle in front of him, he could only smirk as Power rushed through his veins and the enemies Felt his power. He loved the look, he decided as he looked himself over, the Leather clothing was fantastic, and he had Guns, niiiiiice. He swung his arm around and fired one of his Shotguns at the first Mega to move whom had been trying to flee. The Mega staggered back, a single large hole where it’s heart should have been as it burst into data.
He let out a single mocking laugh as the other Mega’s paled dramatically as they realised just how outmatched they were now. Suddenly the Mega’s opposite didn’t want to play anymore. Now they wanted to leave. Silly peasants, that option has expired. His Other arm swung around and picked off the right most digimon and his smirk grew as they fell back and dispersed much like the cowardly digimon prior.
Letting the Dual Shotguns disperse, Tyrant launched himself at his opponents. His claws would rend and tear, But not kill. He wanted to Savour their deaths. He wanted to relive the scene in his mind every night before he slept. As he focused on his enemies he could only shudder in delight at their looks of fear.
A BlackWarGreymon, A Minervamon and a Kinkakumon. Prior, they had a lot of fun at Cinder’s expense. Beating her down rather than killing her outright. Now? They looked like they were about to Vacate their bowels. An Impressive look for a WarGreymon now that he thought about it. It was the Greymon who attacked first matching him claw for claw. Getting slashes a plenty from Biomerged Super Mega Digimon. Rather than flee, both female Digimon rushed him, intending to pincer him between the Club and Spear rather than escape with their lives. Good.
As they Approached a vicious knee strike to the mid-section left the BlackWarGreymon near-paralyzed before the follow up Roundhouse broke his neck and sent him rocketing back into the forest. Infuriated the two Digimon kept up their charge, reaching Tyrant at the same time and doing their best to defeat him. All they really accomplished was giving him a light workout, getting bored Tyrant decided to freak the pair out and seemingly disappeared before reappearing with his Tail around Minervamon’s Neck, choking her.
Not one to let leave their team to die, despite being a Virus Type, the Kinkakumon engaged him attempting to free her companion. The Minervamon who had dropped her weapon to try and get his tail off her neck. It wasn’t a winning battle, quite the opposite. The Kinkakumon swung blindingly fast for a mega digimon despite the heftiness and natural unwieldiness of the weapon, her club attempting to crush his brain often. The Blows just couldn’t connect.
Meanwhile his own slashes were wearing the Kinkakumon down and it was showing. Her movements were slow and sloppy. Deciding that this was getting nowhere on the ‘How badly can I murder these people’ scale, he kicked the Kinkakumon across the clearing, the Digimon slamming brutally into a tree, just about conscious. He looked over at the Struggling Minervamon and smiled cruelly. The Digimons struggles had all but stopped, a rookie could tug harder than Minervamon right now.
Slowly, almost gently he caressed her cheek before his Shotgun that had dispersed reformed in his hand, contacting the Mega Digimon’s forehead. It’s eyes wide with fear and his full of Malice. Before he could fire the shotgun however, the Kinkakumon had flung her club wide and crushed the shotgun with her club. At the expense of her own melee capabilities. This seemed to Register far too late as she charged him anyway, with both hands free and without her favoured weapon the one-sided fight prior had become a massacre, the Kinkakumon couldn’t touch Tyrant and her slow sloppy swings just enabled vicious retaliatory strikes.
He eased up the pressure on the Minervamon just a little bit, she could breathe, but it was in rasping gasping breaths. As he capitalised on a kick aimed for his skull he kicked out the Kinkakumon’s remaining leg from under her and quickly straddled the Digimon, pinning one arm beneath him and restraining the other with one of his own Claws.
As for the other? Well… in an identical movement to the way he had done it prior, he caressed the Kinkakumon’s cheek before clamping down cruelly on her windpipe. With her Arm’s Pinned and no backup in sight the Mega could do nothing but choke. As the virus type wriggled and writhed desperately needing air, she’d started to turn blue before the Virus realised something. It wanted Minervamon to Watch her friend die.
Finally, The Kinkakumon’s need for air killed her. Her body shutting down without Oxygen and her body persisting for a few short moments before dispersing into Data. For the extra mile of cruelty, He made sure the still breathing Minervamon could see him clearly before Absorbing the Kinkakumon’s data.
Still, he wasn’t done yet as he carried the Mega via the tail around her throat off into the forest to find the BlackWarGreymon. The Minervamon refusing to show weakness despite the emotions doubtlessly tearing her up inside. Eventually, the found the BlackWarGreymon. Unconscious and paralyzed from the neck down in the trench his body had made as it passed through the forest.
Slowly, dragging it out he formed one of his shotguns in his hand watching the Minervamon as he aimed at the Downed Enemies skull. She seemed to try to say hundreds of things with her eyes alone. Begging for his Life, Threatening Tyrants’, willing trade just about anything for his own life. Admittedly, the idea of having a minion was a very appealing one. He liked the thought of having a Minion to do whatever he said…
He slowly released his grip on the Minervamon, allowing her to suck generous amounts of air back into her lungs. He didn’t release her, but he was holding her deliberately. He wanted. No. He Needed to hear her beg. The Cruelty and Bloodlust within him needed to watch her break.
Finally, she gave in ‘W-What do you want?’ ordinarily it might have been itself been confused for confusion, but the Digimon herself was surprisingly intelligent and knew exactly what he was waiting for.
‘I’ve always liked the idea of having a minion, and your group seems to have…dispersed.’ Tyrant said, truly speaking for the first time. His voice rich, mature and deep.
‘I-If I become your…minion…you’ll let him live?’ The question was probing, the Minervamon knew the definition of ‘Minion’ but was clearly expecting a different meaning.
‘Yup, A Life for a Life after all…’ He sounded surprisingly matter-of-fact considering his actions prior.
‘I accept’ The Minerva-turned-minion said. He smirked as he caressed her cheek, delighting in her shudder as his skin contacted hers. He released his grip on her throat and his smirk only grew as the Female Digimon sucked in huge gasps of Air and colour started returning to her body. Looking at the downed BlackWarGreymon he could only sigh, He really should kill them both, but he liked the idea of having a minion far too much to pass up.
He was going to pick up the Downed Digimon himself…but he had a minion now. ‘Pick him up, and follow me.’ The Minervamon followed his orders obediently. But it was early days yet, he returned to the original battle site and had her chuck the BlackWarGreymon into the piles of data and let it’s subconscious heal the damage it had taken. It had taken both fields of data, but it healed his neck. Though that seemed to be the limit of what the data could do for him.
Meanwhile in Tyrant’s Subconscious mind, a battle was raging between a emotionally destroyed digimon and her Tamer. If the mind was made up of your experiences, your memories and every emotion then the part of Tyrant that was ‘Cinder’ was a whirlpool, sucking in everything good and nice and leaving only cruelty and bloodlust. It was upon a pillar of rock in the centre of the whirlpool was two figures, Cinder and Basile. Or at least mental projections of themselves, Cinder was hunched over in her Rookie Form. Sobbing.
Just watching hurt Basile, but trying to get close had resulted in her launching him across the pillar and nearly having his ‘flesh’ scorched off. The Pain from that was both still fresh in his mind and very much real.
He couldn’t get through to her, or at least she wouldn’t let him get close… he could only talk… and that had gone poorly for him. But he had to try, even if it killed him. He owed her that and so much more. ‘Cinder, Every Word I said out there was a lie. Please just let me explain!’ Basile begged.
His voice seemed to do nothing but enrage his partner ‘So you can lie to me!? Like you’ve been lying to me for our entire relationship! This is just you acting RIGHT!?’ The crying digimon screamed at him, every word tearing at his heart. But he deserved them and so much more.
‘None of it was real! I said that horrible, awful stuff to get you to digivolve! Because I didn’t want to watch my partner and friends die in front of me! ’ Basile tried to keep soldiering on, and only a single thing gave him hope. A small locket still around Cinder’s neck a simple white metal locket with two crescent arcs on it. Inside a picture of Cinder and Basile hanging out with Miyu and Bloom and the other was a Close up of Basile hugging Cinder’s Firamon form.
‘SO YOU’LL SAY ANYTHING TO SURIVE! EVEN NOW YOU’RE SAYING THIS SO I WONT HURT YOU WHEN WE UNFUSE! ’ Cinder could only yell in retaliation. Her emotional distress and pain blinding her to his words. Words wouldn’t get through to her and he would have to do something else to get her to listen.
There was only one option he had left. He had to walk over to her, through the massive heat and actually talk to her face to face rather than shouting to her. Basile took a step forward and nearly swore as the heat ate at him. Another step and he did swear, breaking the ‘gentleman’ persona he’d always tried to convey. Another Step and he wondered if the sun was this hot as this as parts of his projection started breaking off very slowly, parts of his skin just disappearing due to the heat. Another step and more pain, his clothes had all but disintegrated though they were smoking from the heat. One final step and he wrapped his arms around the distraught digimon. Ignoring the fact that his body was legitimately on fire and his senses were filled with Agony.
Nearly immediately the heat died as he channelled his emotions, his love and affection for Cinder, more so than that. He showed her each and every memory they’d shared. Letting her feel the attachment and his own emotions in each one. Like a never ending highlight reel. Just as the pair started to de-digivolve. Cinder hugged back.

Just watching hurt Basile, but trying to get close had resulted in her launching him across the pillar and nearly having his ‘flesh’ scorched off. The Pain from that was both still fresh in his mind and very much real.
He couldn’t get through to her, or at least she wouldn’t let him get close… he could only talk… and that had gone poorly for him. But he had to try, even if it killed him. He owed her that and so much more. ‘Cinder, Every Word I said out there was a lie. Please just let me explain!’ Basile begged.
His voice seemed to do nothing but enrage his partner ‘So you can lie to me!? Like you’ve been lying to me for our entire relationship! This is just you acting RIGHT!?’ The crying digimon screamed at him, every word tearing at his heart. But he deserved them and so much more.
‘None of it was real! I said that horrible, awful stuff to get you to digivolve! Because I didn’t want to watch my partner and friends die in front of me! ’ Basile tried to keep soldiering on, and only a single thing gave him hope. A small locket still around Cinder’s neck a simple white metal locket with two crescent arcs on it. Inside a picture of Cinder and Basile hanging out with Miyu and Bloom and the other was a Close up of Basile hugging Cinder’s Firamon form.
‘SO YOU’LL SAY ANYTHING TO SURIVE! EVEN NOW YOU’RE SAYING THIS SO I WONT HURT YOU WHEN WE UNFUSE! ’ Cinder could only yell in retaliation. Her emotional distress and pain blinding her to his words. Words wouldn’t get through to her and he would have to do something else to get her to listen.
There was only one option he had left. He had to walk over to her, through the massive heat and actually talk to her face to face rather than shouting to her. Basile took a step forward and nearly swore as the heat ate at him. Another step and he did swear, breaking the ‘gentleman’ persona he’d always tried to convey. Another Step and he wondered if the sun was this hot as this as parts of his projection started breaking off very slowly, parts of his skin just disappearing due to the heat. Another step and more pain, his clothes had all but disintegrated though they were smoking from the heat. One final step and he wrapped his arms around the distraught digimon. Ignoring the fact that his body was legitimately on fire and his senses were filled with Agony.
Nearly immediately the heat died as he channelled his emotions, his love and affection for Cinder, more so than that. He showed her each and every memory they’d shared. Letting her feel the attachment and his own emotions in each one. Like a never ending highlight reel. Just as the pair started to de-digivolve. Cinder hugged back.
