A Larger-Than-Pockets-Could-Be Dragon [Monodramon, Unica]

The explosions cracked the buildings like thunder as an Omnimon Zwar crossed the skies. His power was undeniable, even to his persuers, a gang of Beelzemon leaping from one roof to the next.
"Ya ain't gonna get away with this, ya mongrel! Darkness Claw!" Their leader shouted, leaping way ahead of the others. He purple-glowing claws, however, found themselves impaired by a long blade, which then pushed them aside exposing the Beelzemon's chest to the Blackmetalgarurumon's head-like cannon.
"Cocytus cannon!" The Omnimon Zwar declared, causing a red light to shine from within the cannon moments before the Beelzemon was blasted multiple times by it's shots, causing his body to be encased in red ice. The Omnimon kicked the defeated enemy against other enemies that were trying to reach him, and the Beelzemon trio fell together, crashing into the floor below.
"Boss! We'll 'venge ya!" The three remaining Beelzemon pulled out their pistols, frustrated that they already lost their Behemoths, and began shooting. Omnimon stood there, each shot not even being enough to tickle him. Eventually, the Beelzemon simply ran out of bullets and growled in frustration.
Reinforcements arrived, a large group of renamons, taomons and kyubimons, who did not waste a moment before beggining their own assault.
"Diamond Storm!" "Fox Tail Inferno!" "Talisman of Light!"
Omnimon Zwar simply gave them a moment of silence, before raising his grey sword.
"Gaia Slash!" He called out as he sliced the air, a blade of red negative energy expanding in the direction of the newcomers, pushing back all their combined attacks and leaving them in shambles in one fell swoop. The Beelzemon were falling to their knees crying for mercy. As Omnimon Zwar landed, he felt a hand grabbing his leg. He looked down, seeing his old master, Dorbickmon, and his two fellow students, Rain and Silence, all groveling before him.
"I must truly apologize. You are an awesome and powerful digimon, and i could never compare to you! I regret kicking you out of the dojo, so please let me be your master again! I will do anything, I will give you all the food you want, and you can boss us around!" Dorbickmon begged. A large Behemoth appeared and Omnimon Zwar sat on it with ease, unable to control his laughter at his total victory.
"Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahaha-.." "-heh...heh...heh...heh...heh...I stand superior! Hehehehe....he...he..." Monodramon muttered, slowly forcing his eyes to open, followed by a yawn. There was something bugging him about his belly. He gazed at whatever it was, finding it to be a human with her hands on his belly. Monodramon's widened as he realized he was laying belly up, chin half-covered in drool, beneath a tiny a human (well, tiny for a human, she was about his size). "EEEEP!"Monodramon quickly rushed away, finding himself quickly bashing his head onto the nearest tree. What happened, where was he, who was that human and what were they doing here? Come to think of it, what was Monodramon doing here, in this grass, in these bushes? Oh, that's right... last night... (last night)Monodramon was really getting fed up of looking. What was happening with all the treasure cans now? Overnight, they all had turned empty? Or was it just that area that was empty at night? either way, Monodramon felt like he could barely walk, would he make it to finding actual food? Turning a corner, he seeming found his answer: There was this large green...thing...with wheels on it and one human inside, while the other was outside. The human outside was throwing bags holding the contents of the treasure cans into the back of the large green thing, then signaling the other to close some kind of gate. Curse them! The humans were trying to hoard the treasure from the cans! First they offered it, then they took it away again? Now, that was just meanspirited. And Monodramon was hungry, so he was gonna get himself a meal! "Chameleon Strain." He declared, being enveloped by his camouflage, the began tiptoeing towards the green thing. The human that was outside walked in front of the big green thing and got inside, while Monodramon grabbed it's back. As much as he tried, however, he couldn't open the gates, so he decided to simply wait until the humans did. Then the green thing started moving. Fast. ........................................................................................................................................................................ "Food! Food! So tired..." Monodramon complained as he wondered around the miniature forest, having not been able to hold on to the green thing long enough to get to his treasure. He fell on the ground... and the world went dark.
This was bad. Collapsing here had been a horrible mistake, hadn't it? He gave himself away, what was he gonna do now, this couldn't be any worse! And then Monodramon's stomach growled. Unica & Birdie

"I don't understand why it hasn't been working," Unica's mother grumbled, her long, pale arms crossed over her chest as she half-heartedly tapped a chipped nail against the microwave's clock. The machine lost all power for some unexplainable reason in the middle of her cooking the store-bought strudel for Unica. The timer had ceased, leaving nothing but a black box behind. "I think we need a new one," she huffed while opening the tiny door and pulling out the paper plate. The strudel wasn't even warm yet. Just as she went to close the microwave, her boyfriend stepped up and began carefully studying the machine's insides, trying to figure out if there was any reason why it may have suddenly stopped working.
"It's the fifth time this week," he pointed out as he squinted his eyes and looked at the sticker at the back of the microwave.
"I know, that's why I think we need a new one," Unica's mother retorted, slipping the strudel into a small plastic baggy before shoving it back into their off-white freezer.
Seeing her mother put away the food, Unica pouted out a lip and huffed, "I'm hungry!"
"I know, baby," her mother said as she walked to the pantry and examined the food on the shelves. As she reached in and grabbed a sleeve of crackers, she faced her boyfriend and added, "I thought this is why they hired you."
"Well, not me, specifically," he replied, closing the microwave door and dragging his finger across the label on the bottom of the machine. The two continued talking like this for a while, but Unica couldn't understand what they were talking about. Her attention was focused in on the crackers her mother had taken out of the pantry. She patted her hands on the table a few times before her mother handed over the sleeve of crackers. They would hold her over for the meantime, at least until her dad could figure out how to get power back to the apartment and her mom could make her something more fulfilling.
After roughly ten minutes, Unica's mother turned toward her daughter and rose her voice a little. "Baby, would you like to go to the park?" Of course, Unica agreed and in a matter of minutes, she was ready to go. They left the apartment, and headed northward, toward Miyashita Park, which was really part of the university campus, but was open to the public neverthless. When they arrived, Unica ran off from her mother, plucking flowers and sniffing each as she went. Although she couldn't really smell the difference from one to the other, she had seen people do it in movies so she decided to do the same. Just as she rounded one of the bushes in search of the pink-and-white daffodils she had seen earlier, she spotted a purple creature, half-buried in the foliage.
"Hello?" she asked, cocking her head to one side to try and see the creature's face. It was breathing, so Unica could tell it was alive, but it didn't look like any animal she had ever seen before. Actually, that wasn't entirely true. She had seen a similar looking dinosaur-dragon-mutant on the train ride from the digital world back to the human world. Was that dinosaur the same one here? No, she figured, this one had different coloring, so they were two separated individuals. It was obvious that this creature was no regular animal, though. It was a Digimon. But what was it doing here? And in the park, of all places? Unica crouched down and began pushing against the dinosaur's belly to wake it up, the same way she would shake her parents' arms to get them up on Christmas morning.
The Digimon reacted by jolting awake and screaming. Unica gasped in shock, stumbled backwards, and dropped her flowers in the process. She hadn't expected it to respond like that, and it startled her. Her body trembled a little, and she felt like crying suddenly, but watching the dinosaur jump to its feet and slam into the tree trunk in a Looney-Tunes-esque fashion caused her to erupt in a fit of giggles. "Ahah! You're so silly!" she laughed while standing up, walking over to the Digimon, and stopping by its head. Just then, she heard the creature's stomach growl and she reacted by looking over at its belly. "Are you hungry? Mommy brought sandwiches," she explained, indirectly offering the stranger some food.

Monodramon
A title pending Monodramon found himself covering his head, both in an attempt to soothe the pain and to cower from the human who approached him moments after they two mutually screamed and Monodramon slammed into the nearby tree. His body was lightly shivering, if only because the pain on his head was distracting him enough that he wasn't obsessing over the incoming threat. "P-please don't hurt me..." Monodramon begged. It had only been a week since he'd come to the human world, perhaps even less than that. He knew so little about humans. They didn't seem very tough and he had never witnessed any of them using any attack, even when they were angry with each other and fighting. The closest they seemed to get to it was releasing this yellow substance from one end and this brown one from the other, very similar to a numemon attack, but Monodramon had only ever seen tiny humans do it,most of the time into these white soft containers. And yet, on the other hand, he was surrounded by what they could do, the largest huts he had ever seen, they commanded other smaller digimon which rarely seemed to talk, and there just so many of them. They were unphamtomable and unphantomable things were scary, especially when they were right on top of him when he woke up, like he was a tasty meat apple about to get eaten. Of course, this whole impression changed "a little", when Monodramon's stomach growled, and just as he was about to apologize for it, the tiny human asked if Monodramon was hungry, explaining someone had brought sandwhiches. Monodramon stopped for a moment, pondering how to respond, until he figured lying right now could only get him in more trouble, so he simply nodded. His body ceased shaking, and he hesitantly began getting himself in an actual sitting position instead of laying belly facing the sky (or in this case the tree truncs), checking for approval at every little movement, to be sure the human didn't get angry. As he finally sat, Monodramon breathed a sight of relief and inquired, just to confirm that he wasn't getting his hopes up too high. "So, you are offering me sandwhiches? Are you sure? Aren't they your food? If you give them to me, you'll be hungry." The mere mention of the word caused Monodramon's stomach to growl again. He covered his stomach, but it was hard to deny the excited tone when he inquired if she was offering the sandwhiches or the struggling tone of the next two questions. So, Monodramon decided to divert himself to something he was curious about, a word he had heard humans used before, a lot, but never really understood. "So, what is a "mommy"? Is it some kind of tree or a factory? Is it a praise or an insult? Can you tell me?"As he finished these words, Monodramon gulped, still worried he might have upset the human at some part.

Unica had to admit that she was surprised to hear the Digimon practically beg for his life. What did he think she was? What would she even do it him? Her face shifted to reveal confusion when he asked her not to hurt him. Fortunately, the lull in conversation changed when Unica offered to get the dinosaur hybrid something to eat--more specifically, one of the sandwiches her mother had whipped together before they came to the park. This seemed to change the Digimon's tone a little. Instead of cowering, he became curious and responsive. After he gave a nod, Unica laughed playfully and held out her hand, palm out. "Stay here!" she exclaimed before heading back the way she had come. On the way, she grabbed the small boquet of flowers that she had dropped then disappeared behind the hedges.
Moments later, she returned again with two sandwich bags. As she rounded the corner, she was pleased to find the dinosaur creature staying where she had left him, sitting up now, his back against the tree trunk that he had previously run directly into. Another giggle escaped Unica's lips as she skipped up to the Digimon and held out one of the bags. He seemed hesitant, though. He even asked if she was certain about her offer, claiming that she would be hungry if she gave him her food. That didn't bother Unica any. She had plenty of food at home and once her daddy fixed the microwave, she'd be able to eat her strudels! Before Unica could even formulate a response, the Digimon's stomach growled again. "It's okay," Unica comforted while shaking the bag a little, enticing the creature to take it.
Whether or not he actually accepted it, Unica eventually sat down across from the Digimon and opened the paper bag before pulling out her PB&J sandwich. As she took her first bite, the creature spoke, asking about what "mommy" was. He wondered if it was a object or if it was a saying. He wondered if it was a living creature, like a tree, or something artificial, like a factory. It certainly was a strange question. Did Digimon not have parents? Of course they did! All living things had parents, right? So maybe this particular one didn't have any. It was a sad thought, but Unica was more than happy to enlighten her new friend. "A mommy is a mommy," she explained matter-of-factly. Seeing the puzzled expression on the Digimon's face never waver, she glanced over her shoulder, in the direction of where her mommy was located. How else could she describe what a mom was? "Mommies are pretty and nice and take care of you and read you stories." While Unica wasn't exactly defining what a mother was, she was doing a decent job explaining what one did.

Monodramon
A title pending After a little while, the tiny human came back, carrying some brown rustly food. She reassured monodramon about the food, though she didn't bother providing a reason for it, so he remained hesitant to take it, was she really not making some huge sacrifice for him? Such hesitation ended up being cleared, however, as the girl shook the brown food in front of him, causing his stomach to grumble again. Was this really ok, was he wrong to take it, such thoughts were quickly dissipated by the rustling sound of the food, causing Monodramon to pratically leap as he took it from her hands. He eyed the brown food for a moment, trying to understand where to eat it, before shrugging and simply taking a large bite. It had an odd flavor and odder texture, something like a leaf but more stretched out. Maybe he wasn't eating it right? He gazed at the human, who had opened her brown food, and taken something else much more apetizing-looking from within, causing Monodramon to realize this type of food had to be peeled first. He took the food out of his mouth, then found it surprisingly easy to peel the whole food from out of it's brown part. With that softer, if a bit more collapsable white exterior it now had, and those colorful things within, indeed the food seemed a lot better. Monodramon took a bite. If it had been any better he would have bursted into tears. "This is so fresh! I've been eating the gifts in the treasure cans, but humans have even better things! You're so amazing!" The flavor wasn't all that impressive but something about it just made it stand out so much more, feel so much better than it should be! Monodramon devoured it in two or three more bites and only didn't plead for more because he feared stretching his luck with this kind human, who then proceeded to also explain to him what a mommy was. It wasn't a satisfying answer at all, though, saying a "mommy is a mommy", and Monodramon was about to complain about the answer he was given, until she continued and detailed. It seemed mommies were beings who were pretty, kind, took care of people (like feeding them?) and read them stories. Monodramon thought about it for a moment, rubbing his chin, before tilting his head as he made his inquiry to the human: "So, if you read me a story, would that mean you'd be a mommy to me? I mean, you gave me food, and you are so pretty and were so kind to me... I don't even know your name. In fact, now that I think about it, I don't know anything about you at all. It's been almost a week since I got lost in this place, I barely know anything about humans."Monodramon felt this sudden spike of curiosity. He might even have dropped the food if there had been still any left. "What is human digivolution like? What level are you? Why do humans look so much alike, and what is that attack you use where this yellow liquid or brown mushy thing comes out of your body? It kinda looks like a Numemon attack, but of a different color. And, and, and- " Suddenly Monodramon realized somehting. He jumped back. "Eeep! I'm sorry! I'm being such a bother! Please forgive me!"He had heard a lot about humans having this hidden power within them... he definitely did not want to be the object of their wrath.

Unica couldn't help but let out a burst of laughter when she saw the creature take a bite out of the bag, but she quickly clasped a hand over her mouth when she realized how loud she was being. Her parents had always told her that laughing at people was rude, and she didn't want to be rude. When she finally collected herself, Unica took another bite out of her sandwich and watched as the dinosaur mimicked her actions. As soon as he bit down and the jelly squirted out of the sides, he reacted more energetically than Unica had originally expected. Although the way he spoke was strange--referring to "gifts" and "treasure cans"--and was admittedly a bit off-putting, Unica felt flattered when he said she was amazing. Her face flushed red and a massive smile broke across her lips as she let out a quiet giggle.
From there, she answered Monodramon's question about mommies, but he didn't seem to fully understand. He thought that Unica could be his mommy, but that didn't seem right. Reading stories, being nice, and giving food weren't the only requirements needed to be a parent... right? This confused Unica and she had to stop eating momentarily to think about it. The truth of the situation was far more complex. Her mother was biologically related to her, but her father had abandoned her before she was even born. Her mom's boyfriend was the one she considered to be her daddy because he was kind, he was always there, and he loved her. Unica didn't know the specifics of her parents' relationship, though, which led the more confusion. She just knew that her mommy looked like her and her daddy didn't. So, did mommies have to look like their babies? No, because she knew plenty of other kids whose moms had different hair, eye, or skin color too. Iif appearance and blood didn't make someone a parent, then what did? "Umm..." she grumbled in reply, looking anxious suddenly. How could she answer his question when she didn't know the answer herself?
However, the dinosaur creature gave her a good escape when he admitted that he didn't even know her name. "I'm Unica!" she chimed, her cheerful demeanor returning again. There was a barely a lull in the conversation as the Digimon started rambling off a bunch of rapid-fire questions. "What is human digivolution like?" "Umm..." "What level are you?" "I-" "Why do humans look so much alike?" "Uh..." "What is that attack you use where this yellow liquid or brown mushy thing comes out of your body?" "Yellow..?" "It kinda looks like a Numemon attack, but of a different color. And, and, and-" Unica looked panicked, her eyes wide and her breathing becoming quick as she tried to keep pace with all the questions. She didn't even know how to answer most of them, and the ones that she felt she could answer were worded in such a way that she wasn't sure if she'd be answering them correctly, even if she tried. "I don't know!" she exclaimed, looking frazzled and a little upset.
Monodramon reacted poorly to Unica's outburst, recoiling and apologizing for being a bother almost immediately. Seeing this, Unica's expression shifted suddenly. "Ah! I'm sorry! Sorry!" she said, managing a weak smile in the process. As an awkward sort of silence fell between the two, Unica let her smile vanish while she looked down to break eye contact with the stranger. As she did, she noticed the sandwich still in her hands. "Umm... here!" she said, holding out the half-eaten snack to the nervous-looking Digimon. She let her smile return then, reassuring him that it was alright and that it wouldn't be a problem if he accepted her offer. She continued insisting until he finally took it from her and began eating. She watched him and sat in silence for a little while before grabbing her feet and asking, "Are you a dinosaur?" With a subtle tilt of her head, she almost looked like a curious dog, cocking its head to hear better.

Monodramon
A title pending As he finished the food the human gave him, Monodramon smiled contently, despite a strange feeling near his nose. It was a bothersome feeling he couldn't quite understand. Somewhere between his mouth and his nose, there this sort of irritation. Was it a digimon's attack? He glanced around, but saw nothing that wasn't there before. Still, it was only getting worse the more he thought about it. He reached his hand to that area, ready to scratch it just a little, but when suddenly there was something akin to a spasm. "Aa-achooo!" He sneezed, jelly flying in all directions in front of Monodramon. "Wow, what was that? Did I just get a new attack from this food? It is amazing! Amazing! You're amazing!" Monodramon already knew humans sometimes could grant digimon things like new attacks and evolutions, but he never imagined it was this easy. He continued to eat the food until it was finished, then the banter began between him and Unica, resulting in him barricading the girl with questions, her understandable outburst and his retraction. And yet, mercifully the human was kind enough to instead of punishing him, actually offering him more food. This time Monodramon was faster to accept it, but slower to eat or move on from it: He took the sandwhich in both hands and began nibbling on it from the tip, afraid that speaking up more would cause the human to get mad again. He was glad she seemed to be on high spirits again, but he wasn't overly sure how much it would last. He owned it to himself and her to keep this benefactor happy. "A...diner-sour? What's that?" Monodramon mimicked the human's head tilting gesture. He had no idea what that thing was, he never heard of it. It sounded like some kind of restaurant though, and he had seen a few in the human world. But why would she be asking him if he was a restaurant? Maybe she was asking if he worked or lived in one? Or if he was worker there or even the owner? What strange questions. Monodramon ended up deciding to tell her about who he was and where he came from. "No, I'm a digimon. My name is Monodramon, and I come from the digital world, specifically I used to live in a dojo, then I lived with Wisemon in his book and then I came through a portal into here and got lost. We also have restaurants there, but I never lived or worked in one. But I do love them! They serve such yummy food! If only they weren't so expensive and all... Ah, your food was yummy too! Thank you very much! I'm not sure how much longer I could go with how hungry I was to be honest... This was really nice of you."Monodramon looked down. There was something missing from what he was trying to say. He really appreciated what she was doing for him. But more than that, perhaps... "It's...it's really nice knowing you, Unica. Would you, hum..." Monodramon looked to the side, his cheeks growing a little red. "Would you like to be my friend? I don't have any in here in the human world. Aah, you don't have to if you don't wanna... I totally understand if you don't. Plus after helping me out and everything, I'm probably more of a nuisance than someone you like..."

This Digimon sure was a strange and naive fellow, but that was part of the reason Unica adored him so much. He was like one of those silly cartoon characters from her favorite TV shows. She was immediately reminded of one in particular. It was a Japanese show about these twins who would travel through time to solve mysteries and help fight crime. They'd meet a new wacky and "historical" character in each episode who would help them solve whatever new conflict there was. A lot of the comedy came from the outrageous colors, the word puns, and the guest characters' quirks. There was one episode where the twins met a woman who sang everything she said, and Unica loved always got a kick out of that one. Although she was still new the Japanese language, she thought it was funny that someone would sing everything instead of say it normally.
Monodramon was like one of those characters, saying words funny and not understanding the most basic concepts. Who didn't know what a mommy was? Who didn't know how to eat a sandwich? It was hilarious! While Unica thought the whole conversation was comical, Monodramon didn't seem so amused. He was genuinely confused about what Unica was talking about. So, instead of continuing to humor the young girl, the Digimon decided to start at square one by explaining what he was, who he was, where he came from, and why he was here. From there, he started talking about restaurants before finally rounding the conversation back to the food Unica had given him. It sounded like the dinosaur had a lot of stories to tell, but he looked sad while talking about his home and Unica wanted to do something to make him feel better.
While the young girl sat there, staring at the ground while she thought about what she could do for him, the Monodramon asked a bizarre question. He wondered if she'd be willing to be his friend. Although he tried to explain that if she didn't want to be his friend then he'd understand, Unica promptly cut him off. Almost immediately after he asked his question, Unica clapped her hands together and exclaimed, "YES!" before laughing light-heartedly again. The idea of having another friend--especially if that new friend was a dinosaur/dragon creature--excited Unica and she was sure to let her eagerness show. Without really giving Monodramon time to respond, Unica hopped to her feet and started walking off, motioning for the digital monster to follow her. "C'mon, friend!" she hollered back.
Beyond the hedges, flowers, and benches was a playground, set up on a large patch of dirt on the edge of the park. A handful of other children were playing there, but only one parent seemed to notice the strange, fierce creature, for she let out a gasp of horror, took her two children, and left the park in a hurry. Most of the other children stopped what they were doing and stared at the duo, as if trying to wrap their minds around what they were seeing. Unica didn't seem to notice the weary glances they were getting, though. She walked over to a seesaw and sat on one side before pointing at the opposite seat. "Sit! Sit!" she exclaimed, bouncing eagerly while she waited.

Monodramon
A title pending Monodramon lowered his head in disappointment when Unica responded, sighing. He began getting up, still trying to come to terms with it. "Yeah, I understand. I should probably get going goi-" Monodramon's eyes widened as her actual answer hit him at last. He locked eyes with her, stuttering for a moment. "Y-y-y-ye-ye-yes?! You-you w-want to b-b-be m-my friend?! Really?"Before Monodramon could even wrap up the sentence though, Unica had called out to him as she suddenly started moving away. His friend. His friend in this whole world (the human world to be exact). Oooh just picturing how happy they would be playing together, all the things they could do together like eat and play fetch and eat and see places and help each other out and eat! It felt like a bunch of butterflies in his stomach just digivolved into a pair of wings that would let him fly straight to hap- "Woah!" Monodramon nearly tripped as he gave chase to his new friend, snapping out of the daze as he began questioning why she was getting away. "Hey, don't leave me behind! Let me catch up! Where are you going? Is it a fun place? Is it a restaurant?" Suddenly his new friend disappeared into a mass of green, and causing him to sprint behind her, not wanting to loose sight of her. Monodramon leaped through those same bushes, sneezing out some leaves while others remained stuck in his nostrils, bandages and mouth. He started spitting it out, then his eyes widened. Was this a trap? But his new friend wouldn't set him up like that, right? Right? Yet, what was this sensation? Monodramon felt dozens of gazes locked on him. For a moment, he felt himself back in whitewater, monzaemons gazing at him in worry, a bunch of other rookies running past him and giggling as they pointed at his bandages. He felt his eyes getting followed, how odd for a digimon to be so covered in bandages, walking around like that in the middle of the otherwise cheerful city. Monodramon gazed down to the sandy ground. "They're all looking at me like that." He muttered to himself. "Did I do something wrong? Am I spoiling everyone's fun again? Maybe I shouldn't be here, maybe I am intruding, maybe I'm doing something wrong, no I have to be doing something wrong! Even my new friend was probably really trying to run away from me."As if just to contradict him, however, the human sat on a weird pirate ship plank and told Monodramon to sit. Monodramon walked towards her, sitting on the sand, but upon hearing the giggling, he realized he was doing something wrong. He got up again, trying to figure what might be the case, with a blush but still a grin. Maybe she did want to play with him, right? He couldn't contain the happiness, so as soon as he figured out what he was supposed to do, Monodramon aimed then made a short leap to the other side of the plank, sitting on it with force as he cheered, and the plank on the small human's side suddenly shot up very quickly, and with it of course, the little human. "Oh no! Shadow wing!" As if by instinct, Monodramon's wings suddenly expanded with dark energy and in a single moment he bent down and leaped towards the girl, hoping to catch her in his arms before the landing.

Unica was excited to have fun with her new friend, which was the reason she had brought him to the playground in the first place. There was no way anyone could stay upset when playing. The swings and slides and jungle gym were tools of elightenmight, but the Digimon didn't seem to agree. If anything, he became more anxious when they entered the playground. Unica ignored this, thinking he would cheer up when they finally started playing, but it didn't stop the creature from wondering if he had done something wrong; that perhaps he had trespassed and was not allowed here.
Monodramon was not far off in his assessment. He shouldn't have been there. The human world was no place for a Digimon. Not only did Digimon pose a threat to human civilization, but humans were a skittish bunch who posed a threat to Digimon in turn. If they felt threatened, there would be no telling what they would do. Although the humans in the park probably wouldn't have tried anything, a fearful parent was bound to call the police and animal control services were bound to get involved, but the point remained: Digimon did not belong in the human world because humans were not ready to accept those things beyond the scope of their own world.
Unica, of course, had not heard the Digimon's quiet mutters and, honestly, wouldn't have really acknowledged them even if she had. Being so young, everything in the world was new to her. She had only recently started school, she didn't understand love or politics or finances yet. She still had so much to learn. The whole wide world was new and engaging. And so, to her, Digimon were just another layer to that. Unica was new to everything, of course, but only a small percentage of people in the grand scheme of things were actually familiar with Digimon, and an even smaller percentage actually engaged with the virtual world. Unica didn't realize how special she was.
It took a while for Monodramon to finally understand what Unica wanted him to do with the seesaw--and, granted, she could have helped him out, but that would have spoiled the fun and it was hilarious watching him try to figure things out on his own. He didn't know what mommies were, how to eat sandwiches, or how to play. It was very silly! Things were humorous and light-hearted until the creature leaped onto one side of the seesaw with such force that it sent Unica flying. Three emotions overcame Unica the moment she went airborne. One, she was delighted by the height she had achieved; two, she was amused at how she must have looked to others in the playground; three, she was terrified of hitting the ground. These emotions revealed themselves as such: while she shot up through the air, she laughed and giggled, but as she slowed and began to fall, she started flailing her arms and screaming in panic.
It was then that Monodramon acted. Perhaps it was the crying and fleeing humans in the playground, or perhaps it was Unica's sudden change of behavior, but regardless of the reason, the dinosaur creature grew wings and leaped to her rescue. He launched himself into the air and caught the small girl before she was anywhere close to hitting the ground. It took a moment for Unica to realize what had happened, but after blinking a few times in surprise and taking in her surroundings, she overcame the shock and locked eyes with the Digimon, who looked like a proper dragon now. "Woah!" she gasped, suddenly erupting into a fit of giggles. That was so much fun! "Again! Again!" she laughed, glancing down at the ground that was a few feet below them.

Monodramon
A title pending Monodramon's own heart mimicked the emotions he saw displayed on the girl as she realized the danger of her own height: complete and total panic. There was no way he would be able to stand for that fast heartbeat as he saw the girl start to fall, soon to become a data scattered in the wind. For a precious few moments, Monodramon forgot it all: the humans staring at him with ferocity, wanting him out of their territory, the mysterious ways of that barely explored world, the hunger, the need to lay low. For one simple moment, the world seemed to grow silent as he used his ability and took "flight" towards Unica. Now, to be honest, Monodramon couldn't really fly. The best he could do was jump very high and with great precision and agility. Maybe fall down a little slower than most. And all of this with the help of his ability. So, even though he thankfully managed to catch the human in his arms and the two began gliding down just a tad slower than actually falling normally, Monodramon was still rather surprised to find the girl giggling of all things. "What do you mean "again"? Unica, that was dangerous! What if I DIDN'T catch you? You would be deader than a leomon, then you would go the human village of begginings and I would have to come looking for you, but I would never find you because I have no idea where the human village of begginings is!...oh? What..." It was only at that moment Monodramon noticed two salty wet bulbs on the tips of his eyes. He reached his hands to them, but they quickly ran down across his cheeks. Did he just shed a couple of tears? Why? Because Unica almost got hurt? Well, she WAS his first and only friend in this world. If something happened to her and it was his fault, what would he ever do? Still, by yelling like that, maybe Monodramon was hurting her nonetheless. He looked at her and tried reaching one of his hands to rub her head, carefully avoiding poking her with the drills he had for fingers. "I'm sorry. It's alright. Maybe some human games are just dangerous. How about this, I'll take you high, but not with that wood place thing ok? I'll carry you up and down while I still have my wings active. Would you like that?"Suddenly Monodramon felt something poking HIM instead from behind. Something very small. I turned around to see a human even smaller than Unica with one hand on Monodramon's tail and the biggest finger in their other hand stuck into their mouth for some reason. "'an Is goes two?" The little human inquired. "That looked fun! Take me next! Take me!" Yet another human, one slightly taller than Unica yelled. "Hey, no fair! I want to jump tall too!" Before he knew it, Monodramon was surrounded by little humans, still carrying Unica in his arms, while the lot of them poked him, grabbed his tail, begged for a "ride on the tall". "I..uh...I..."Monodramon didn't know how to respond at all, his head just glancing from one side to the next trying to get a word in, but utterly failing.

The dinosaur Digimon reacted in a way Unica had not expected, and that scared her. He kept talking about her dying and ending up in a place called "the Village of Beginnings." Was that heaven for Digimon? Unica was too young to fully understand what it meant to die, but she did realize that those who did die could never come back. And so, when her friend went on and on about her dying, it made Unica upset. Tears brimmed and her bottom lip trembled. Why was he saying these things? She hadn't fallen. He had caught her. She was fine. It was fun. Why was he talking about death?
Then, as if moved by Unica's strong reaction, Monodramon began tearing up too; and what more, he actually started crying. Thick streams of salty tears fell down his face, but he seemed puzzled by the sudden moistness on his cheeks. Of course, seeing her friend cry made Unica start crying too. She wasn't really sure why Monodramon was so upset, but clearly she had done something wrong and it had upset her new friend to the point of sobbing. It was upsetting, to say the very least, and she couldn't help but feel sorry about the whole situation.
And yet, just as she was becoming hysterical, the Digimon stroked the top of her head in an awkward, albeit comforting, manner and Unica was able to calm down enough to meet her friend's eyes. As soon as they were looking at each other, the dinosaur said that he was sorry. It helped, a little, but the tears continued to fall and Unica continued sniveling. Monodramon went on to explain how he would be willing to play more dangerous games with Unica, as long as they avoided the seesaw. He offered to fly her up and down while his wings were still active. It sounded fun! Unica's frown was quickly replaced with a massive grin and she nodded fervently, her cheeks still damp as she did.
As the two floated to the ground below, there were a bunch of children, shouting and crying out for the Digimon to take them on a ride too. Unica saw no problem with it: if her friend had the ability to fly and if he was as nice as he had been with her then surely he wouldn't have a problem playing with all the other kids too. Plus, she didn't mind sharing her new friend. He was her friend first, anyway. Little did she realize just how flustered her new friend was getting by all the stimuli.
As if the children weren't stressful enough, a handful of adults approached--some with pepper spray, some with keys between their knuckles, some with cellphones poised to call the police. One by one, they pulled their children away from the strange reptilian creature, hurrying away to avoid any more interaction with the bizarre animal. Who knew what kind of diseases it carried! Then there was Unica's mother, who rounded the corner with wide eyes and shaky breaths. She had been sent into a frenzy when she realized her daughter was not where she had left her, and she became even more panicked when she spotted Unica with the strange animal.
"Unica!" the woman screamed, terror and confusion in her eyes. The young girl turned in Monodramon's grasp and smiled at her mother, thrilled for her mom to finally meet her new Digimon friend. Unfortunately, her mother did not view things the same way. "Get away from that thing! Come here!" she cried out, taking a hesitant step closer, suddenly worried about what the creature would do. What if she moved too fast and it attacked her or her daughter? What if all the children and all the screaming parents were making it act out? Why was Unica in its arms? The joyous look on Unica's face quickly vanished when she saw how her mother was reacting to the situation.

Monodramon
A title pending Wait, why was she crying? She was probably scared before, but Monodramon had just caught her didn't he? His head moved up and down like trying to dodge invisible punches, looking over each corner of the little girl, from the now sligtly dirty and rugged clothes she was wearing to the arm and back, looking for any sign of bruises or data leak, yet he couldn't find trace of what might have been the cause of all that bawling. It took until he stroke her head and promised to take her back into flight for the girl to calm down. Fortunately, the whole ordeal was replaced with a smile, one of the greatest, brightest-looking smiles and nods Monodramon had ever seen. He couldn't help but reciprocate it with his own smile of relief. Just as he prepared to launch though, the kids appeared again, each beggining to be taken too. "I..I can't! I can't bring all of you right now!Ah, if only I could digivolve, I'm sure this would be a piece of cake!! M-maybe if you c-can wait a li-little, then.."But Monodramon didn't get to finish. The more evolved type of human appeared, carrying their attacks in their hands. They began taking the smaller humans away despite their protests, for what reason Monodramon couldn't phantom. The look in their eyes, they looked at him as if they wanted him to go away, no they DID want him to go away, he was sure of it. His mouth was stuck in a stupor, unable to say anything as the smaller humans got thei hands slapped for touching him, as the whole yelling of those giants that surrounded him like a menacing dome. It would have been a relief to not have to be swarmed by the smaller humans, but why they would stop it, what motives the humans could have, what could it possibly, how could Monodramon tell them he didn't want to fight? "I..." Monodramon turned to one of the leaving humans who was forming tears in his eyes like the ones Unica had earlier. He wanted to comfort the poor thing, so he reached out his head, the only free limb he had... "STAY AWAY!" The taller human yelled, raising her attack thing which spat some kind of liquid or gas at Monodramon, who pulled Unica closer to his own body so she wouldn't get caught in the attack. It wasn't her fault. He couldn't drop her now. Not even if his eyes were stinging like they wanted to come off. Not even if they burned as if they had been thrown into Apollomon's sun. But he wouldn't be able to take it much longer. He couldn't drop Unica, but he did need to put her down before he faltered. Suddenly someone (presumably one of the taller humans, judging by the voice) called out Unica's name. Monodramon turned in the direction the voice came from, before it commanded Unica to get away from "that thing". Were they talking about Monodramon? Yes, of course. They had to be. As gently as he could, Monodramon kneeled down and put Unica on the floor, hoping she was landing in the right position. Then, now with his hands free again and his ability just barely active, he turned around again and pushed his feet into the ground, jumping several feet into the air and landing in the midst of the park trees once more. Then, he ran.

(I'm so very sorry for vanishing right at the end of our thread! There’s not much more we can do for this particular plot, so I think I’ll cash it in.) Unica was upset. Her eyes were wide with horror as some of the other children’s parents shooed Monodramon, kicked dirt in his direction, and hurt him with nasty spray. It was clear that they were just trying to scare the creature off so he would get away from their children, but their assaults only caused him to pull Unica closer to his body, shielding her from the attacks. She felt the left side of her head press against his chest, the same way her mommy used to do to help lull her to sleep. She listened for a heartbeat, but there was nothing. When she listened really hard, she thought she could hear a dull humming or buzzing, like cell phone vibrating, but it was difficult to tell over the sound of adults screaming and children whining. The sound reminded Unica of a computer. Someone once told her that Digimon weren’t the same as animals, so she wondered if that was the reason why her new friend didn’t have a real heartbeat.
When she heard her mother’s voice, screaming for her daughter to get away from “that thing,” Unica felt frazzled. She didn’t understand why her mommy looked so upset and scared. Had she done something wrong? She couldn’t tell. What was going on? Her parents always told her to treat others the way she wanted to be treated, so why was everyone being so mean to her friend? She just couldn’t look passed the fact that Digimon weren’t normal. Most humans went the majority of their lives never meeting a single Digimon, so seeing one in the middle of a park was startling. Unica was starting to learn, however. She was starting to realize that her venture to the elusive digital world was not a common experiences, even if the epiphany was a difficult one for her to wrap her head around.
Monodramon slowly lowered Unica to the ground, and the look on her face was something between sadness and betrayal. What was her friend doing? She wasn’t finished playing yet. Once both of Unica’s feet were on the ground, she turned around in time to see her strange friend turning his back to her and leaping high into the air, distancing himself from Unica and her mom. “No!” she screamed as soon as she realized that he was leaving her. “Come back!” she wailed, her chest tightening and her eyes once again brimming with tears as she stumbled after him. He promised. He said they would play together. He said he would fly her high in the sky again. He couldn’t just leave, especially without even saying goodbye! She felt her heart shatter at his abandonment, and she was determined to catch up with him.
And yet, she didn’t get far before her mother grabbed her wrist, instantly stopping the young girl in her tracks. Unica screamed something and stomped her foot on the ground in a minor temper tantrum as she tried to pull away from her mom’s grip. “Unica!” the woman gasped as she pulled her daughter in for a hug but was promptly pushed away. Unica was doing everything in her power to fight against her mommy, the person responsible for scaring off her new friend. “Baby, please, look at me,” Unica’s mom said, but the young girl kept struggling. The push and pull between mother and daughter continued for a few minutes until Unica finally gave up, knowing her friend was too far gone to find now. Wracked with grief, Unica placed her head on her mom’s shoulder before sobbing, her tiny frame shaking as she let the tears flow.
