Sho Tsuginaga
The boy had run all the way to the river, his feet nearly slipping on the raw grass that bared their blades against the fresh rain. The ankles of his slacks were nearly scraped by the bridge that was all too close to the edge of the river. The world around him merely became noise under his clear umbrella, here he was far removed from the blaring horns and gossiping students, even if both flowed as easily as the raindrops clouding his glasses. With only a sigh in between his huffs and the squeaking that his lenses created against his cuffs when he cleaned them, there was barely anything keeping him from laying his soaked head and slicked brown hair into the ground right now.
His mind was muddy while he tried to catch his breath and move his pale hands to his flip phone. Sho was blinking only a little at a time while he tapped away...
Sho: I'll be back later than my usual time.
Sho: If you let my leftovers get cold waiting for me, I won't forgive you. ;}
He made sure the bracket made that cheeky little smile, even though it was nothing matching his own expression. He had to make sure he wouldn't worry, considering those messages usually meant he was out working part-time or studying. Not sitting out by Shibuya river and staring into some gutter's reflection.
Sho wobbled as he stood up, the sickness of running so far being the hammer that struck his knees. He had half a mind to chuckle, thinking about how far he'd run if he could do it forever. But for now, thunder reigned and rain swallowed the horizon around him. He stumbled closer to the edge to get a good look at himself, even if his glasses wouldn't show his reflection within the rippled water. Maybe it was all the filth that filled his mind and not the ripples. He didn't know what was going through its head. Why, he couldn't even remember why he ran out here...eespecially if the signal was dying before his eyes. The more rain that fell, the dizzier he got. The thought struck him easily at that point; if he was getting the same way all of his family before had been. If that was the case, then would the hospital find him here by the river, take him in where he'd spend the rest of his life? He began to laugh again.
Maybe they'd think it's just a cold.
The rain seemed to clear up along with his fear. He'd forgotten all about why he was here after all, and his Dad would get that message by now, even with the crappy signal. The ripples began to clear, and he was actually able to see himself. Himself and something else. A dark, winged being on his shoulders. That, and a flash. It appeared before he could blink his eyes, and even in that split second he could feel the radiance from his phone. Only the thunder came after, and before he knew it, he felt himself fluttering away. There was some comedy about that feeling, after all.
Sho thought he had died.
