At last, Round 1 had finally ended on all fronts. And now, the tail-end of Round 2 was beginning to filter through the system. The crowd at the Infinity Coliseum wasn't getting any smaller, and this was noted by its commentators, who were beginning to be compelled by advertisers to keep up the revenue. "This next round of the tournament is brought to you by Black Udder Butter, Whitewater's Favorite Butter, apart from four others, it's a butter from another udder so get a knob in your gob!" Bellamy called to the crowd. While he recovered intaking breath, Luke then announced what was going on. "We're back at the Round Two Loser Brackets, where two players compete back up the ladder to get back into the match!" the Elecmon said. "From the East Wing, we have Elliot Sunderland the Spirit Wielder!""And... from the West Wing, we have Dante Palledino and his partner The Worm King!" Bellamy added. "So then, when both players are ready, begin the match!"
We should know the drill by now, but here's the rules anyway. 1. Post within a week of it being your turn, otherwise you will concede the match to the other player. 2. Do not kill your opponent, aim to knock them out. 3. No targeting Dante and no cards. 4. No digivolving beyond what your opponent is capable of. 5. This match is non-canon, so don't worry about where this is in your characters' stories. 6. Please don't attack on your first post. This post is meant for introductions. You may begin the fight on your 2nd post. I have flipped a coin, and it will seem Elliot has the first post.

Elliot may have lost the last round, but his confidence levels were off the charts now. He had taken someone who he and Isaac looked up to quite a bit and fought him to his limits. Considering that the idea of returning to the Digital World to fight was somewhat terrifying to the poor boy, it opened his eyes quite a bit to the power and control that he had still possessed. A few more fights and he would be all set to come back into action.
It had been a long wait until his next fight, probably because he and Iko had fought until the point of near-collapse, but now he was standing on the other side of quite the experienced for. The surly, worried-looking Elliot from previous rounds was all gone. Now he was all smiles, cheerfully waving to Dante and Wormmon from the opposite side of the arena. "Good luck!" he chirped, so bubbly that he almost seemed like out of place in a fighting arena. The tension in his posture had melted away, and he almost seemed to be rocking back and forth on his good leg as if loosening into a fighting stance of his own.
Then he tightened up his stance and held his Digivice high, a purple shell of energy surrounding him. With a rattling sound a thrashing white tail burst from the shell, promptly revealing Sanidramon. The great white serpent curled into a fighting stance, nodding and motioning for Dante to Digivolve Wormmon when ready. "Let's make this a great fight, okay?" he asked.

It was time for the third fight of the tournament that Dante and Wormmon would be competing in. The first round had been a brutal back and forth duel, and the second fight against their allies Aeron and Bones no less ended with the redhead and the perverted, egotistical bug bringing home the W. What would their next opponent be like? Some sort of three headed dragon? The Oakland Athletics? Celibacy? Or a kid with a crutch. Phew, looks like they were getting off easy this round. Of course Elliot must have some pretty tough spirit forms to survive in the Digital World. The crowd eagerly awaits the arrival of the next combatants. Love them or hate them, Dante and Wormmon had polarized the crowd with both their showmanship, trash talking, and skill in battle. Piedmon is sitting up in the nosebleed section, looking through a pair of opera glasses. A dark cloud hovers over the arena, as the lights go out. A countdown clock appears on the screen. 10, 9, 8, the crowd is getting amped, 3, 2, 1... Cue MusicDante's name appears on the screen in big red letters on fire. The crowd pops, and a ray of light shines down through the crowd on the stage. A man with long red hair wearing way too much leather stands on the entrance ramp with his back facing the crowd with his arms up. He stands there and drinks it in before turning around and crossing his arms in the shape of an X above his head. The lights in the arena start flashing red and white. Dante takes a few steps down the ramp, gazing out at the crowd. He turns and stands against the edge of the entrance ramp, waiting for his partner to arrive. Eight cloaked figures slowly make their way out to the stage. The mood takes a shift as they bring an eerie presence to the area. Another songSuddenly the cloaked figures drop their robes, revealing scantily clad women wearing red and black bikinis with a demonic theme to them. They start dancing in unison, putting on quite a show. A sphere that looks like Wormmon's face is lowered down above the stage, and the Worm King himself bursts out. Wormmon lands on the stage and poses with his group of dancers before he starts dancing around with them. Dante stands around waiting for Wormmon to get to the ring, before he finally goes over, picks Wormmon up, and walks down the ramp. Wormmon squirms around, trying to get back to the stage. The music stops playing, the clouds overhead pass by, and things return to normal like before Dante and Wormmon made their showy entrance. Wormmon hops down from Dante's arms and poses for the crowd to a mix of cheers and boos. Dante bows respectfully to Elliot. The Spirit User raises his Digivice high, transforming into a great white serpent Digimon called Sanidramon. "Well, looks can be deceiving. Yes, let's make this a great fight."
Wormmon forms a cocoon out of silk thread. The cocoon expands in size until it bursts open, revealing Archnemon the Spider Queen. Dante stands off to the side as Archnemon glares at the snake. Dante isn't sure how powerful Elliot really is. This matchup could be a big showdown. "Whenever you're ready, no arms."

Dante's entrance had been far flashier than Elliot's, that's for sure! Nevertheless, the cheerful calm that lit up Elliot's eyes didn't seem to waver in the face of any of that. If anything, the most reaction he showed was a cocked eyebrow when Dante's theme music started up. Chris Jericho on vocals? As someone whose knowledge of the guy started and stopped at the words "you just made the list," Elliot was a little caught off guard by the choice of singer. He didn't let that distract him, though, just as he didn't let the troupe of scantily clad cultist ladies do the same. His mind was solely on the prize, no matter how many distractions showed up in the way!
That didn't mean Elliot didn't appreciate it, though. "Love the special effects," he said as Wormmon entered his cocoon of Digivolution, figuring he'd get any banter out of his system before punches started being thrown. "If I make it to the next round, maybe I'll see about getting some for myself." Come on, Elliot! There were, like, five golden opportunities for trash talk there, and you didn't take a single one. Kid needed to work on his innocence some.
With his appreciation made clear, Elliot prepared for this fight to get underway. He flicked his tail up near his face, spitting out a shimmering golden lance and catching it with expert precision. It solidified into a green polearm with an axe-like tip, Sanidramon's signature Treasure Lance. Once he had produced this weapon he hunkered down into a fighting stance, body still and head swaying back and forth. He truly was a cobra poised and ready to strike, except unlike most cobras he could just choose to stab Wormmon if he so pleased.
For now, however, there was no striking on the table. Instead he simply waited to see how Wormmon would open the engagement. After all, it isn't about who strikes first. It's about who strikes best.
Elliot produces his Bao Kui. Bao Kui: Sandiramon spews a lance of light from his mouth. While Sandiramon is very proficient in the lance, it can also be gifted to allies. Duration: Four Posts. Cooldown: Two Posts. Rather than take the first post offensive, Elliot stays poised for the dodge and uses his turn to wait and see what Dante does.

Unlike most of the opponents Dante and the self proclaimed Worm King had come across, Elliot seems like the kind of guy who is just too nice to enjoy squashing into the ground. Dante would feel bad if they ended up defeating the Spirit Wielder with ease, that is if he hadn't transformed into a terrifying serpent. Elliot wasn't much for trash talk, but he also wasn't rattled by their flashy entrance and needless theatrics. This is a clash of drastically different personalities. Anyone who has seen Wormy battle knows to expect lots of showboating and trash talking.
Elliot starts off by raising his tail and generating a lance. Archnemon expects an attack, but the serpent lays in waiting. A snake and a spider, two predators that relied not on pure strength, but tact and subtlety to ensnare their prey. While it is a sound strategy to wait and see what your opponent's first move is, Archnemon is going to take any opportunity that they can get.
The Spider Queen starts spraying her webbing around the ring, using her Spider's Layer technique. She creates a large web across around 40% of the ring, rising up to about 30 feet at its highest points. The arachnid Digimon crawls along the web at great speed, gaining the high ground. Archnemon glares down at the white serpent with her fangs showing.
"Not so big now, are ya? This is my yard."
Dante watches on from a safe distance, showing great interest in who gets the edge out of the gate. It wasn't often that Wormmon competed in this form, but he recalls many times from their adventures together when Archnemon went above and beyond to overcome the odds. Her exoskeleton made her defenses tough, allowing her to stay in battle longer. Combined with the Spider Queen's defensive abilities, the Tamer couldn't help but feel confident in his partner while at this stage. Though it was still far too early to call this one. Archnemon would have to back up their cocky attitude. ________________

Elliot followed along as Arachnemon called a large web across almost half of the ring, impressed by how much she had been able to propel in a single technique. Whereas most real world spiders needed a long time to produce silk and weave it up, Arachnemon could just create a full web in a single spurt. Digimon really were amazing, weren't they? Nevertheless, he knew this was no time to sit and gawk, which was why he kept his Bao Kui in a defensive position as he backed up from the web. That half would have to be Dante's side, and this half would have to be his side. Fair and balanced, were this a game of dodgeball or a water balloon fight.
Elliot knew better than to let an ambush predator set up her turf. Instead, as he backed away he suddenly crested into the air, diving deep into the earth below. Arachnemon wasn't the only one who could perform natural actions at supernatural speeds, and soon Elliot would seem to be completely gone from the battlefield due to how deeply he had dug.
In his fight with Iko, Elliot had learned the folly of relying on his underground movement. A massive snake popping up from underneath the ground was far from subtle, and an aware opponent could follow the vibrations of the ground to get out of harm's way in a timely manner. However, to understand the weakness of his technique was also to discover its strength. With several parts of Arachenmon's web peeling off of the ground, Elliot had found a potential blind spot in the Arachnemon's superior field of vision. All he'd have to do was avoid the webbing directly touching the ground and instead start his ambush from one of these raised areas. It was perfect!
With his plan set, Elliot stopped tunneling straight down and turned up towards one of the web's raised areas. Upon reaching his destination he gently poked through the arena floor with his snout, then unhinged his jaw to unleash a furious rain of spears straight upwards. Ideally he'd be able to both skewer the spider and slice the web with this opening salvo. However, even if Arachnemon were to be on a different part of the web, having her raised assault platform fall on one corner couldn't have been pleasant for her. He could only hope that a concentrated blast from his attack would be enough to at least accomplish one of his two goals.
"Don't mind me!" he quipped in the meantime, getting into the spirit of Arachnemon's banter. "Just mowing your yard a bit."
Bao Kui duration: 2/4 Elliot dives beneath the earth, aiming to tunnel beneath the raised parts of Arachnemon's web while bypassing the sticky ends touching the arena floor. Relevant Passive - Delving Deva: Sandiramon is a natural-born tunnel digger, capable of moving through many surfaces with ease. Snow and sand basically are of no impediment, soil is only slightly slower than Sandiramon’s top speed, and if softened up with attacks even rock can be slowly churned through. Upon arriving, Elliot fires a rain of spears at Arachnemon and her web, hoping to slice the web and skewer Arachnemon at once. Relevant Passive - Chip Away: Sandiramon is merciless in his pursuit of enemy defenses, each attack of his leaving them somewhat weaker than the last. Sandiramon’s hits leave stacking debuffs on enemy defenses, negligible at one hit but intensifying powerfully by the fifth. Avoiding Sandiramon for two posts resets the debuffs. Magnitude: 10% reduction to defense per stack. Maximizes at 50% reduction to defenses. Duration: Two Posts (if not reapplied in two posts, is lost) Rain of Pain: Sandiramon spits javelins of light into the air, which turn to face enemies before raining down on them. Generally used on cornered foes.

Archnemon's opponent would take a moment to view the web, before the albino serpent burrows into the ground. This was a strategy Dante and Wormy have not come across before. While the arachnid had risen up on her web, Elliot had gone in the opposite direction. Both Digimon seem to be well suited for defensive styles.
"Hey, I can't see them anymore."
Suddenly, a barrage of spears flies up from underneath the web, as Elliot pokes up from the ground. The spears shred through part of Archnemon's web. A few of the spears manage to hit the spider, and she loses balance as the webbing underneath her falls apart. She quickly hops over to another part of the web. The spears reduce Archnemon's defenses somewhat. Elliot even seemed to be polite about the attack, or was this his way of trash talking?
"I worked hard making this! How about another spider joins this party?"
Archnemon rises up, standing on her hind legs as she launches a ball of webbing from her abdomen. The ball flies over to another part of the web, closer to the ground. The ball expands in size, and a Dokugumon hatches out. The Dukugumon crawls along the web towards where Elliot fired the spears from, shooting a few strands of razor sharp silk thread down.
Dante watches on from the sidelines, showing no sign of concern. He is confident in Archnemon, and is waiting for the right time to signal to Wormy to unleash the heavy stuff. So far the large red spider has been cautious. Now that a summoned familiar had entered the fray, would this give Archnemon an advantage? Both combatants are at Ultimate level, so Dante knows just how dangerous both of them can be.
Not knowing much about Elliot, or what spirits the Spirit Wielder has acquired, Dante does not want to escalate the fight to the next stage unless he feels it would give them the advantage, or if Elliot does so first. Although he wasn't showing it, Dante has great interest in seeing how this battle plays out. This is the first chance Archnemon has gotten to fight in the tournament while at this form. ________________
Actions: Archnemon takes damage from the spears, and moves to another part of the web. She summons a Dukugumon ally that attempts to strike Elliot with strands of sharp thread.
Spider Queen: Creates a Dokugumon to fight along side in battle. The summoned Digimon is a weak Champion level, and can use basic attacks. Archnemon can manipulate them to block an incoming attack, or sacrifice them to restore health. Limit 2 at a time. 5 post cooldown.
Cooldowns: Spider's Layer (Duration 1/6 + 0/3) Spider Queen (0/5)
Debuffs: 10% reduction to defense.

There were a lot of things that Elliot saw coming from Arachnemon's powerset, but summoning more spiders was not one of them. Elliot was so busy focusing on watching the spider-woman that he didn't even see Dokugumon fire at him until it was too late. A few pixels of data rose up from where razor-sharp silk sliced across his sides, and as pain shot through his body Elliot was thankful Dokugumon were just Champions and not another flat-out Ultimate entering the fray.
He cringed somewhat to protect his side, keeping his hooded helm lowered to protect himself in case of a future attack. Nevertheless, he worked up a smile. "Nice thinking. Me and my big bro fight together enough for me to know keeping your eye on two people's not easy." Nevertheless, he did his best to keep one eye on Dokugumon and one eye on Arachnemon, backing up from the web so that they couldn't easily fan out and surround him.
He didn't really want to delve again, at least not while Dokugumon was out on the field. Arachnemon's location was at least predictable due to her web, but if she sent Dokugumon out to scout ahead Elliot could pop out of the ground only to find himself flanked. Therefore, he'd need to think of something different to add to his repertoire. He looked back at the web, as well as the Dokugumon perched upon it, before coming up with an idea.
He reared back, half-burying himself into the ground, before using his powerful abdominal muscles to breach high into the air. It was a bit of a risky plan, but Elliot's goal was to crest above the web like a dolphin leaping gracefully over the waves. As he did so, he prepared a two pronged assault. On the way up he spewed another fan-like blast of javelins at Arachnemon, this time aimed more closely at her than his previous shot aimed at her web. On the way down he slashed his Bao Kui lance down at the Dokugumon, hoping to be able to strike at both combatants in a single well-aimed dive. It was a gamble for sure. If he underestimated the extent of his leap, he could end up snared in the web and easy pickings for the spiders. He could only hope that he made the right call in trying to splat two bugs with one stone.
Bao Kui duration: 3/4 Elliot breaches from the ground, aiming to dive over Arachnemon's web in order to maneuver around her and her summon. On the way up he fires a rain of spears at Arachnemon. On the way down, he makes a basic attack with his lance to swipe at Dokugumon.

Perched on her web, Archnemon seemed to have things covered from all angles. Well, not all angles. Her summoned Dokugumon turned the battle into a 2 on 1. By the looks of the bits of data rising up from the ground, it appears Dokugumon's threads hit their target. Elliot mentions fighting with his brother, and being outnumbered before. The serpent leaps up like a coiled spring, soaring over the net. Elliot rains spears down from the sky, targeting the Spider Queen.
On the way down, Elliot goes after the Dokugumon with his Bao Kui lance. The spider is damaged heavily, but remains in the fight. The spears hit Archnemon on point. Some of the web breaks apart, as Archnemon goes swinging across the web on one of the threads. Archnemon looks at where Elliot is landing down on the floor below. As she swings up like a pendulum, she starts charging up an attack. On the way down, she launches out a Spider Bomb from her abdomen. The large bomb flies to the ground and sticks in the spot where Archnemon thinks Elliot will land.
Archnemon swings back on the thread, and drops down to the ring floor below her net. She is quite far away from the serpent. Dokugumon struggles to head towards Archnemon, standing off to the side about equal distance from Archnemon and the bomb.
"You may think you've got the edge, but I'm unlike anyone you've ever faced before. I'm too hot to handle! Yaw!"
More boastful comments from Wormy. Dante is starting to question Archnemon's chances. The battle seems to be turning in favor to their opponent. The Spider Bomb could be a game changer for Archnemon. Elliot's hits were lowering her defense. Her web had proved useful, but was falling apart. Normally at this point in the battle, Dante would be getting amped up. However, he doesn't show any sign of passion or worry. Even Archnemon was starting to wonder what's gotten into him. Was this some kind of tactic? ________________
Actions: Archnemon swings across the web, and drops down a Spider Bomb to the floor below. She moves back to the floor away from Elliot.
Spider Bomb: Creates a large bomb that detonates when Archnemon desires. Sticks to surfaces such as walls. Can be placed directly down from the abdomen, or Archemon can stand on her hind legs and fire it as a projectile. Deals massive damage. 3 post cooldown.
Cooldowns: Spider's Layer (Duration 2/6 + 0/3) Spider Queen (1/5)
Debuffs: 20% reduction to defense.

A wise woman once said "You can't dodge in mid air! I win!" It was a quote that was fresh on Elliot's mind, probably because he had binged a playlist of Goku's best Dragon Ball Super fights in order to prepare for this tournament. There, his all-time favorite had beaten all of the odds, contorting his body in a way that allowed him to escape sudden death and nail one final, all-powerful Kamehameha for the win.
Unfortunately, Elliot wasn't blessed with the power of Ultra Instinct, and even if he tried to twist out of the way his large, snaking body had far too much length to feasibly move in such narrow time. He could try to lean his head out of the way, but that would just lead to his shoulder careening directly into Arachnemon's bomb. He could have dipped down and forced himself to try and burrow, but then he would fall short and end up landing right into Arachnemon's web. If he tried to crest over the bomb, it would just hit his vulnerable underbelly instead.
Maybe if he had more time to think, Elliot could have come up with a better plan. Instead, he flicked out his tail, flinging his Bao Kui right at the bomb.
He had no idea if his attack would be enough to detonate the bomb prematurely or not. However, none of the alternatives seemed good enough, and he figured it'd be better to prepare for a failed plan than to take the brunt of a bad plan on the chin.
Once that was done, he dipped his head low and aimed his shell-like hood directly at the bomb. It was his last line of defense, and his final hope of taking reduced damage from the attack. Whether dealing with his own prematurely-triggered blast or instead diving directly into the full extent of Arachnemon's trap, he wanted to make sure he was as protected as possible. It wasn't as much as most Digimon had, but at least it would eat up concussive force and shrapnel alike.
His defenses set, all Elliot could do was squeeze his eyes shut, tense his body up, and prepare for impact.
Bao Kui duration: 4/4. Bao Kui expires next post. Elliot flings his Bao Kui at the Spider Bomb in a panic, detonating it early so he isn't at the explosion's apex. Then, to further lower incoming damage he turns his Battering Ram to the ground, using the strong force of his hood to ride out the landing. Battering Ram: Sandiramon lowers his head so that its hood-like shell can absorb hits, then dashes forward to headbutt the foe. Magnitude: 25% defense boost. Cooldown: One Post. Despite all of this in his favor, he is hit hard and left in a daze. Unable to attack for the turn, he simply plans to prepare for Arachnemon's next assault.

It didn't seem as though Elliot had any chance of avoiding Archnemon's Spider Bomb as the serpent falls towards it. Rotating out of the way might cause Elliot to become tangled in the Spider Queen's web. Running out of options, Elliot flings his Bao Kui at the bomb. The bomb detonates prematurely, and the resulting explosion destroys much of Archnemon's web. Elliot tries to shield themselves from the explosion, and they are caught by the outer rim of the impact, taking reduced damage.
Archnemon smirks with satisfaction, as her plan had worked. Well, almost worked to the fullest extent. The important thing now is that the red spider is currently in the driver's seat. Elliot was unable to target her with an attack while dodging the brunt of the blast. Dokugumon crawls over to Archnemon. The Spider Queen grabs her minion and pierces its neck with her fangs. She absorbs the spider's energy to replenish some health. Not too long ago the odds were not in Wormy's favor, but now it looks like the tides were turning. She also earned some evil points for killing her own minion in classic villainous fashion.
"Ah, nothing like a mid battle meal. Now then, I'm not through with you yet. This seems like the right time, Dante."
Dante flashes a small grin across his face and nods his head. Archnemon shrieks and raises her arms out. She stands up on her hind legs and aims her web shooter towards the ring floor in front of her. She fires a stream of lime green colored thread infused with energy. The thread expands and forms a green sphere of energy around Archnemon.
"I've been saving this technique. With my Insect Barrier, only attacks from bug Digimon can get in. So theometrically speaking, my attacks can get through, but you can't even touch me."
"She means theoretically speaking." "Shut up, Dante! Don't correct me."
It seems like Dante and Wormy had an ace up their sleeve they were saving. Maybe that is why Dante seemed so certain in his partner. Still, there could be ways around this strategy. Dante realizes that by putting Elliot between a rock and a hard place, Archnemon might be forcing his hand to take this battle to the next level. That is if Elliot was able to go past Ultimate, unbeknownst to the redhead and obnoxious spider. ________________
Actions: The Spider Bomb detonates prematurely, dealing reduced damage. Archnemon devours her minion to restore health, and uses Insect Barrier to create a bug friendly force field around her.
Insect Barrier: Creates a large barrier around Archnemon. Only bug type Digimon and Bug type attacks may enter the barrier. Lasts 4 posts. 3 post cooldown.
Cooldowns: Spider's Layer (Duration 3/6 + 0/3) Spider Queen (2/5) Insect Barrier (Duration 0/4 +0/3)
Debuffs: 20% reduction to defense.

Elliot gasped as Dokugumon crawled over to Arachnemon like a merry little sacrificial lamb, only to be hefted up and eaten for its troubles. Elliot was a giant venomous snake, and even he was horrified! "That was your . . . soooooon?" he said, righteous anger quickly giving way to confusion. "P . . . pet? Friend? Whatever. Did you summon it just so you could have a snack?" He tried to find the right words to vocalize his horror, and in the process succumbed to the first rule of psychological warfare. His focus was splintered, and therefore he couldn't properly account for Arachnemon's barrier.
Which, as soon as it got put up, left Elliot's eyes widening in shock. "Wait, seriously?" he asked, knocking his tail against the barrier a few times in order to try and confirm. Sure enough, it was like solid light to him, and frankly Elliot didn't want to spend any more time attacking it to confirm whether the Arachnemon was bluffing or not. If he lingered too close in front of there, he'd be ripe for the blasting.
He groaned. How the hell was he going to beat someone who was literally invincible? If Arachnemon could just hide under an impenetrable barrier for half of the fight, he wondered if he should just spend his time hiding underground until she was done.
. . . Wait, that was it! Immediately Elliot dove back underground, curling his tail to flash a quick thumbs up to the crowd. He didn't want them to think that he was just trying to lame it out here, after all.
Once underground, he quickly got to work, tunneling beneath the arena in various criss-crossing patterns. Normally his goal was to set up stable tunnels that he could burrow through, ensuring that he always had an easy path back to the surface. Today, however, he had much bigger plans. Right now he just wanted to destabilize the arena floor, especially that beneath Arachnemon and her barrier. So long as she was still standing, she was still safe, but what if some proper networking allowed him to get her out of her barrier's otherwise-impenetrable range?
Once he had done enough work down below, he swept right across the area beneath Arachnemon's barrier. If he had made the right estimation, she should be left either falling into the chasm or forced to leap outside of her shield in order to reach solid ground. If he didn't? Well, that would be a lot of energy spent on what amounted to playing solitaire. He could only hope his Dig Dug inspired gamble would be a success.
Bao Kui cooldown: 1/2. Due to 2 posts consecutive of no attacks, Arachnemon's defense debuff expires. Elliot is unable to actually attack Arachnemon, so he tries the next best thing. Instead of going on the offensive, he tunnels under her and tries to destabilize the ground beneath her, hoping that a few collapsed tunnels will get her out of the defensive barrier that she has set up.

Archnemon putting her spider offspring on the menu didn't sit well with Elliot. The snake questions how she could eat her own ally. Archnemon makes a confused face and tilts her head to the side. What is left of her web has fallen apart from the battling. The defense reduction from Elliot's Bao Kui fades away.
"A soooooon? Pet? Friend? Well, it's more like a bug hierarchy thing. And who are you to judge?! Some snakes eat their young, and some spiders eat their mate. Err, not that I was mating with that chick. Dokugumon is too butch for my tastes."
Archnemon's barrier seemed to change the flow of the battle. Elliot tests out the barrier a few times to ensure its resistance. Archnemon grins and snickers at the Spirit User. She raises her arms and flaps her hands side to side, making annoying faces.
"Nyah, nyah nyah nyah, nyah! You can't touch this."
Dante facepalms and groans.
"Will you stop? Just because your defenses are up doesn't mean you can slack off." "You're right, Dante. Okay, slim, what'cha got?"
Archnemon tightens her fists and leans back, getting ready to pounce. Elliot dives underground and starts making tunnels. He focuses on the area underneath Archnemon. The Spider Queen notices the ground shaking. Archnemon and her barrier fall through the floor, and the spherical barrier starts tumbling down and around like a pinball. Archnemon panics, trying to gain control of the barrier.
"Ahh! I don't like this ride."
The Spider Queen tries running in the opposite direction to slow down. She gets control and tries to head towards Elliot, but it builds up speed, and Archnemon is sent flying up out of the ground and landing back in the ring. Archnemon lays on her belly, as little singing cheeseburgers dance around her head. She comes to and struggles to rise up, taking deep breathes.
"Alright, you got me that time. But my barrier is still up and I'm not falling for that again. You're just exhausting yourself."
Dante shows a look of concern for Archnemon. They didn't go on the offensive that time, but their defenses are up. Was this going to be a longer, more dangerous fight?
"Hang in there, Wormy! Keep your head in the game, and turn up the heat." "Oh, I'm far from done, Dante. The question is, what's it going to take to win?" ________________

Elliot let out a small cheer as he burst back up to the land, seeing that Arachnemon had taken one heck of a tumble. Sure, her barrier had fallen with her, but the blow had clearly knocked her for a loop. He took advantage of that to catch his breath, making up for the exertion that he had taken from the previous tunneling effort. He stretched himself out some, waving his tail up and down to try and pump up the audience. "There's more where that came from!" he cheered. His fighting spirit may have been waning lately, but the hard-fought battles that he had experienced so far were starting to make his blood boil for it again. Maybe he wasn't as much of a failure at fighting as he had figured before.
Of course, in the time it took for him to recover, he could hear the telltale scuttling of an Arachnemon. He may have taken a bit too much time recuperating, because he could practically feel the progress that he had made before evaporating before his very eyes. Not helping was the fact that her barrier didn't shatter on the way down. Surely enough, it seemed even gravity wasn't enough to get through the barrier. However, Arachemon was clearly dazed, battered, and winded by the attack, and it seemed while her barrier was protected her own body wasn't. Maybe Elliot could make use of that information.
That was why as soon as Arachnemon finished climbing Elliot was right back on the offensive, flinging his body at Arachnemon furiously. He ducked his head, letting his cracked yet still firm hood take the brunt of the impact as he tried to rush right into the barrier. While at first his trajectory was almost painfully straight and predictable, at the last minute he hunched down before leaping forward in an almost uppercut-esque fashion. Right now, attacking Arachnemon wasn't his plan. Instead it was attacking her barrier, hoping to push her right back into the hole for another painful tumble.
Bao Kui cooldown: 2/2 Elliot rushes forward, trying to use a frantic rising headbutt to knock Arachnemon and her barrier right into the hole. Battering Ram: Sandiramon lowers his head so that its hood-like shell can absorb hits, then dashes forward to headbutt the foe. Magnitude: 25% defense boost. Cooldown: One Post.

Archnemon went on an unexpected ride, but the good news is that her barrier is still up. Both parties take a moment to catch their breath from the exhausting battle. But when Arhcnemon returns to the surface, the ivory serpent gets right back at it. Elliot charges towards the Spider Queen and uppercuts the barrier, ramming into it at an angle and sending her flying back.
Instead of falling back into the hole, Archnemon lands in the ring. She quickly stabilizes herself on her six legs, breathing heavily as the battle takes its tole. Dante has never seen Wormy exert herself this much at the Ultimate stage before. The Spider Queen had taken on all challengers, and rose to the occasion more times than Dante can recall. Does Elliot have her number?
"Hang in there, Archnemon! You're the Spider Queen, the most fearsome and dastardly she bug in the Digital World. Elliot should be shaking in his scales right now."
"Argh, ah, ha, ha... You're right, Dante. Tell me, snake boy. What foes have you gone head to head with? Have you slayed powerful dragons, obliterated evil sorceresses? You are obviously quite skilled. I bet your politeness is just a persona to mask the true pain that you carry inside. Tell me, what is it you are really afraid of?"
Dante's strategy seems to be working. Supporting his partner and playing to Wormy's massive ego was the shot in the arm the spider needed. It even got them to start playing some mind games with Elliot. This was certainly Lilithmon's personality shining through. There's just no way Wormmon would have even tried to get inside an opponent's head if it were not for their memories as the Goddess of Destruction in a past life.
Archnemon raises her head back and shrieks. She stands on her hind legs and launches a Spider Bomb from her abdomen. The bomb flies towards Elliot, and if it gets close enough, Archnemon will trigger it and attempt to catch Elliot in the radius of the explosion. Of course Archnemon might suffer from the blowback, as if her Spider Bomb can pass through the barrier, the resulting explosion would be able to pass through her barrier as well. It was slightly risky, but at this range, Wormy is confident that the bomb will hit its intended target.
The barrier would not hold forever, and if it were not for turning her spider lackey into a snackrifice, Wormy would be running low on energy. Great defense is nice, but she would need to go on the offensive to achieve victory. ________________
Actions: Archnemon and her barrier are sent flying back, but avoids falling back in the hole. Archnemon plays some head games, then launches a Spider Bomb at Elliot.
Spider Bomb: Creates a large bomb that detonates when Archnemon desires. Sticks to surfaces such as walls. Can be placed directly down from the abdomen, or Archemon can stand on her hind legs and fire it as a projectile. Deals massive damage. 3 post cooldown.
Cooldowns: Spider's Layer (1/3) Spider Queen (4/5) Insect Barrier (Duration 2/4 +0/3) Spider Bomb (0/3)
