Going Nowhere Bright (Sho & Wakako)

To Wakako's delight, Sho appeared ecstatic to the idea of partnering up with her... It was hard for her to remember that the adorable, purple Digimon was still human, or at least used to be. Still, their appearance made it oddly more comfortable for her to relate to them even now... a tiny guinea-pig creature was far less intimidating than another adult or whatever age Sho was. "Y-Yes! Let's do that then! Maybe we'll find something important?" the young girl somewhat pluckily spoke, their mood already improving now.
Regarding just how they'd find this unknown signal, it seemed like a simple enough task with the radar (which she proceeded to show to Sho on her Digivice). Follow the cavern system and home in on the dot in the center of the grid map shown on the radar... They didn't know what was down there, but if they worked together they should be fine? "W-well, okay then... Let's try and stay safe though, b-but you'll be able to protect us... right?" she ended up commenting, admittingly banking on the hopes that Sho would be able to bail them out of danger if need be.
Still, they were sort of looking for a needle amid a very large haystack... in the dark. As she began to follow Sho, she did begin to realize that this was far more tricky than she originally hoped. What were they looking for down here? "Well... I guess all we should do is try to get to the center and hope we from there find it. Err, to your left." she proceeded to speak, giving Sho some directions as they came to a fork amid the tunnels.
How deep was the cavern system anyway? Questions, questions...
As they continued to travel along the path Wakako was leading them, the girl briefly squinted to look at the Tsukaimon ahead of her... a bit hesitant to talk, but the hopes that been setup for her prior made her a touch more outgoing. "So... Uh, Sho? How did you end up in the Digital World anyway? Are... Are you stuck here too?" she quietly asked, keeping her arms to herself as she attempted to keep herself warm.

Left it is...He moves down the caverns, leading Wakako in the direction her radar was pinging and always scouting ahead to see what would be near. But, no matter what, he always made sure to glide right back over to her side, keeping track of every word and every question. Her questions could only produce more of Sho's own, and Sho didn't even know what answers would make what things happen. He'd end up calling it The Stranger's Dilemma just so he could get it off his mind and throw his own uncertainty to the wind. He knew what to say.
"I took the train. Isn't that funny? The thing leads right back to Shibuya...the T-Trailmon, that's i-it." Sho shivered as his wings caught the cold from his glide, fluttering dilligently beside Wakako again. "To be frank...I got here running from things that were bigger than me. And I hate that!" Sho pointed out with the Tsukaimon's sharp tone. "But make no mistake, I'll be sure to protect us, I know I can! No matter how silly it might sound while I'm in this fantastic little body of mine..." He vehemently declared with a smart grin that still measured miniscule compared to his striking salute to himself.
He didn't feel like he answered the rest of the questions.
Sho didn't feel he could, seeing as it was like seeing the door to Wakako's situation creaking open just a little wider as he desperately tried to spy inside with a mite-sized eye. "I don't think I'm...stuck here. I didn't even know you could get stuck here...Is that what happened to you?" Sho tried to slip in, the Tsukaimon still putting his words in its voice. "I c-c-couldn't imagine..." He spoke, though every inch of him spoke otherwise.
He could imagine. Sho could know, and he very well did! He was just too short-sighted to imagine something this close to his heaven would be almost like a purgatory to someone else. But, I guess you can't help but be short-sighted in the dark, can you?

While it felt odd knowing that the small gerbil-like Digimon that kept near her was a human being in actuality, they still offered to Wakako a morale boost that they would be able to locate the source of this strange signal. Of course, they'd need to find a way back out... but one step at a time. She had to take things one step at a time.
Sho was still an interesting individual... Nice enough of course, but there was a deal bit of mystery to them that intrigued her. What kind of things were they running from... Did they mean things in the real world? She couldn't imagine what they'd possibly be running from, but it didn't diminish her respect for Sho... Not everyone was willing to stick their necks out for strangers after all. "Sho... Thank you for everything. I feel way more safe knowing you are here." the girl softly spoke, a genuine tone of appreciation in her voice
Not all was well though... For a moment, Wakako went silent, and if Sho turned around just in time he'd have maybe spot a look of brief anguish on her face before recollecting herself. "Nothing I do works. The Trailmons get lost, portals don't work... I don't know what else I can do really." she softly spoke, gazing down at the ground as they walked. She wasn't being facetious about saying nothing worked for her... No one else seemed to know how to get her home, much to her own frustration. "... Its just, like as if the Digital World wants me here... but why?" she ended up questioning, though to no one in particular. No one knew, and that scared her.
Yet, despite her fears... she wasn't going to stop herself. She refused to believe she was just some weird outlier... There had to have been a reason, and she was determined to find it. Still, the heartache of being unable to see her mother or father hurt, enough to cause the girl to briefly falter in her pace. None of this was something anyone her age needed to experience. "... I just miss Shibuya so much." she sadly mused, though her mood seemed to neutralize as she checked the radar. "I... I think we're close. Another right turn...?"

Once again, Sho was met with that pang of vapid terror somewhere deep in his digitized mind. The digital world was a place, maybe a lively place or even a living place, but anything here wanting to keep someone like this in captivity? The only conclusion Sho's now rapid instincts could find was one word; "Insidious." He just happened to blurt that out in a small growl, still continuing to follow Wakako's whims with an ever strengthened resolve. He blinked and turned to Wakako with soft eyes, only realizing what he'd said moments later.
"A-Anyway, I'm glad that I'm able to help! I don't really know what I'd do if no one showed up anyway..." Sho boasted slightly, trying to sound as proud as a shivering pig-bat could be. But not even pride could keep that animal fear back for long, shifting his glide in a quickened daze as he turned back around. "If you wanna know what I think, then I think that trying to get this thing is the best we can do." Sho submitted, beginning to let his heart fly a bit more freely as he continued in their directions. "I may not look it now, but I've...I'm sure I've read books on this kind of thing." Sho asserted reaching as far into his memory as the low adrenaline in his system would allow.
"A lot of people underestimate how useful fiction is, and it grinds my gears! B-But just hear me out...I think you need to become as strong as you can, even just as a h-h-human right up to the end of wherever this p-path is leading." Sho stammered as he tried to keep his volume stable. Trying what he could to keep his fear at bay. "I'm just...really scared about it, and I don't want you to get consumed by this. It appenss...happens to me a lot too. Erm...please be y-y-yourself." After so many sounds of hesitation and unwanted words, Sho unraveled from that digicode again, at least landing on his feet again with a sigh.
After all that and a hand on his head, Sho was beginning to tire of it. He didn't know the words he was saying anymore...

Wakako may have been young, but she wasn't unaware of her surroundings. The way Sho's tone grew bitter... she didn't know if there WAS someone who was keeping her stuck here, but until she had concrete proof... she couldn't afford to get angry now. Not while her first goal was so close.
"I read a lot of books... and while I don't know if can apply everything from them here, but... there has to be some truth in fiction?" she softly spoke, though briefly hesitated as Sho's tone seemed to change. For a moment, Wakako was unsure what to even think regarding what they were saying... She understood the need to perhaps find this power that Sho also had, but the way they worded it was ominous. What did they mean by being consumed by it? The way Wakako seemed to slow down, her mind racing trying to question just what they meant... All that her mind could go back to was one sentence. "... Become as strong as I can be..." she softly repeated to herself, though snapped back to reality as her friend suddenly collapsed, their Digimon form dematerializing as their true form appeared once more.
"M-Mister Sho?!" Wakako immediately panicked, trying to help them back up or stabilize them.... Why did everything need to be so confusing?! It was agonizing, but at the same time she couldn't falter any longer... they were so close, she knew it! Tugging on their hand a bit more energetically. "W-we're close... We're very close. J-Just a lil' further...!" she spoke, a bit more fervently as she hopefully guided Sho ahead.
Suddenly, a glimpse of light could be seen forward... no natural light though. Sure enough, as the two came closer, they'd find themselves in a large and spacious room covered in white crystals that grew from the walls... ominously glowing a white light that helped illuminate the room.
For Wakako, there was something oddly beautiful about the spectacle before them... It was almost like a scene in one of her books, or maybe in a Miyazaki film. This wasn't anything that could appear in real life... but here she was, there experiencing it with another. Frankly, the fact it existed was astounding... that she was even here! Everything around her felt as if it was slowing down around her, her breathing slowing down as well... Something about this place was oddly comforting to the girl.
F... .u. p.w... ..d m... yours.
For a moment, Wakako seemed to grow quiet... unsure if she had heard something. From Sho...? No, couldn't be. Didn't sound like him at all... Was it just a trick of the mind?

With a couple short, shivering breaths, Sho came up from his slightly crumpled position and stood up straight again shaking his head. He tried to move gingerly so he didn't rip himself away from her hand as he calmed himself. "I'm okay. I'm b-b-back, see?" Sho tried to assure her, sure that this certainly wasn't the time for unnecessary worry. Worrying seemed to be the only thing Sho could put in his head as he let Wakako's words seep into his mind. Looking ahead, pushing himself forward, even he could tell that they were close to something.
Was this the source of that deep, pressuring fear he couldn't shake?
He closed his eyes as Wakako led him towards their final destination, letting the haze he was in slip away until he could open them once more. A beacon of light shone in his eyes, a reflective glimmer that Sho had to catch as he pushed up his glasses and steeled himself for what was to come. The crystals that surrounded him glittered within his eyes, filling the rest of his person with awe. "This h-has gotta be it, right, Miss Mozume?" He prodded at the thought looking back only to see someone quieter than he.
If she was in some kind of shock at the place it certainly didn't show itself to him. Her silence seemed to sudden for it to just be pure surprise. For a second he wondered if she was still collecting herself, like when he'd said something about power before, but this still piqued his intuition. "Wakako, what's wrong? Did something come to your mind?" Sho voiced in a concise and concerning tone while he looked around at the spectacle that surrounded them.
Sho could only imagine a place like this. A place where he'd lose his own words.
For a moment a thought crossed him with the strength of an arrow. The thought that maybe she was feeling like he had been only moments ago, met with words that weren't his own. "We're here, aren't we? I-I-I think w-we really found it. S-So what do you need to d-do?" Sho asked, wishing he could pull Wakako back to attention.

Wakako remained quiet for what felt like dozens of minutes, though it was really only a single minute. She probably could have been like this for hours if allowed to, but Sho fairly easily knocked her senses back into reality. The girl flinched as she realized she was being talked to, glancing back to Sho with a wide-eyed look. "N-No... Nothing's wrong, its just... Just look at this place..." she spoke, admiring the scenery.
Even if she came here for nothing, it may have still been worth coming all this way just for this beautiful sight. There couldn't have been any place like this on Earth. "Do you think they're real? I-Imagine just what one of these could be worth back home..." she spoke towards Sho as she walked towards one of the large crystals, placing a hand on it. Despite how bizarre it was, Wakako felt an odd sense of comfort around the beautiful minerals... enough that she almost didn't want to do anything to mess with them. They were beautiful as is.
Sho however did bring to attention that this was where her Digivice was pointing them towards... though the question remained still why? Wakako checked her Digivice just to make sure... and yup, they definitely were there. Was there something to this room that could help them...? She glanced at Sho, an unsure look on her face. "H-How did you get your Digimon form, Sho? L-Like, how did you learn you can do it?" she asked, attempting to figure out what alternatives there were.
Was it possible that what she was looking for was buried underneath them? H-How would they even get to it then? This was rock-hard stone underneath their feet, and she sincerely doubted even Sho's Digimon form could help.

The thought of how he blasted into the air on bat wings attached to his head and a demonic cackle ripped straight from a third-rate horror novel still made him shiver. Sho still had to close his eyes to scan through the memory as the beating rain and thin wind singed his senses. He could barely believe that something like that was anywhere near the past. Ripping himself back to the present with a few blinks, Sho could barely stammer his answer.
"I-I...w-well I thought I was dead! It was more about figuring out how to g-g-get out, heh. It wasn't something I had to learn." Sho felt so drawn out that his voice began to trail off, still trying to siphon some kind of answer out of himself. He felt no other option but to just turn on his heel and find some answer in the crystalline beauty that surrounded them. How the reflection simply overpowered the lenses of his glasses if he faced them for too long.
He'd only seen a reflection so clear once before.
"It was...It was before the flash. It came to me as I neared the reflection of Shibuya River..." Sho nodded, extending a hand out to her before looking back to the light before them. "My Digimon found me." He was finally able to exclaim it in a whisper, unable to let go of the fragility in the air. "Maybe you won't get struck by lightning, but I'm sure of it now. If you get closer, you'll find the same power I found at the river." Sho explained, still beckoning with his hand and itching to go forward.
He'd be finding something new, just as easily as she was. This was a feeling that nothing in his world could copy. Sho wouldn't sell any part of this for the world.

White. A color oh so bright, synonymous with light. For the denizen of this cavern, it surrounded him so much. All the time, in fact. It was peaceful here. Isolated from the outside. From humans. But that wasn't the case here. No, there were interlopers within Sorcermon's haven. Interlopers he had been watching. Yet they spoke...strangely. They were similar to each other. Not entirely human now, were they? No...An anomaly. Perhaps it was time to test this. Sorcermon stood up and emerged from his spot in the open, bright as day room. "...I suppose you expect a welcome. You will find none here, humans. For I am Sorcermon, and this is my domain."

Stepping into the Sorcerermon's line of sight, he shook his head and adjusted his glasses to make sure the glare of the crystals could impair his vision no longer. The blanche white figure in front of him was something that could easily blend in with the rest of the shine around him, the only thing telling him apart being the head unter his hat. And here they were, in front of him, maybe even below him, being told of their place.
Sho had to still his shoes in his place, and stand to him as equally as he could.
After all, there was some pride to be found in knowing exactly how to deal with this kind of "personality", but even then he couldn't resist at least a small bow. "Thanks for letting us know. But I assure you, we're not a threat. You'd have no means of welcoming us anyway." Sho spoke in an almost pitying tone, speaking with haste as if there was any kind of time to be wasted.
"We're simply here to retrieve some kind of...item...and leave, Sorcerermon. As long as we can do that we won't impose ourselves upon you any more than we need to." Sho finished up, making another small bow befroe making sure his lenses sat rightly upon his brow. He wasn't sure of such a being's abilities anyway, he couldn't afford a confrontation...
But that's what this was.
Whether they wanted it or not, he could tell. Sho knew that the Sorcerermon's wishes were to confront them whether they liked it or not. He had to make some kind of plan before the first move was even thrown, that's what all his reading had taught him! The confrontation is won before it even begins!
Will his Digivice clinging to the hand behind his back, Sho narrowed his attentive eyes, continuing. He'd already found his motivation. "This girl behind me...she needs this. What I want will only increase her chances of survival. And if you don't intend to let us have it, then we are at an impasse." Sho hardened his words, standing his ground.
Something about his position elevated him more than flight ever could.

It was all a touch confusing for Wakako with how Sho described their own plight and first transformation... It didn't seem like learning how to become a Digimon was possible, more that you just had to experience it. "It sounds difficult... but I hope I'll be like you, Sho... If I'm going to find my way home, I need this power." the girl somewhat resolutely spoke as she gazed at the beautiful scenery... it oddly warm and inviting, yet felt dangerous as well.
Wakako flinched as the first other soul she has seen in this cavern system besides Sho appeared before them... A human-like (but not THAT human-like) Digimon that resembled a white wizard holding a staff with a snowflake adorning it. Wakako herself could not help but feel a bit intimidated by the Sorcermon's cold (pun very much unintended) personality, she hiding behind Sho with an unsure look. "O-Oh... Uhm... Were we intruding your space mister Sorcermon?" the girl bashfully asked, a bit embarassed about the prospect that she and Sho were accidentally invading a Digimon's privacy.
At the same time, she could not help but feel Sorcermon's empathy-less eyes directed towards them... She felt something very wrong about this confrontation, they hesitant about even trying to talk. She couldn't stop here though... Sho was right. Like it or not, she needed what her Digivice was point her towards here. "I-I don't mean to be a problem mister Sorcermon... but I need that power. I... I really do." she hesitantly spoke to the mysterious Digimon, though soon enough seemed to flinch as a headache began to come upon them...

Of course.
Power. It was always about power with these insects. Sorcermon's eyes stared at the duo with a disdain comparable to knives boring through your own eyes. "What a grand and intoxicating innocence." He began.
"I know your kind. You claim to have 'good intentions.' You get what you want. And then you use it to corrode the very fabric of this world. You harm. Your kind destroys." He continued, tapping his staff against the ground. "You will not have what lies in here. Leave." Sorcermon snarled.
Sho's...pity...it grated at him. He was not a mon of pity. He was the bulwark upon which the world stood upon. (He actually wasn't.) Sorcermon gritted his teeth. "I said -leave.- Away from here!" He raised his staff in defense! "Away before you -INSECTS- destroy this land too!"

Oh.
So he was that kind. Sho all but had it now. The entire picture on Sorcerermon's view of them. His readiness wasn't at all dispelled, but his words were all the more prepared to spring from his mouth. As far as he was concerned he had to do whatever he could to keep them both out of trouble for as long as humanly possible. And Sho's lips were ever poised to do just that, standing just a short distance away from the caped 'mon's bulwark.
"I know. Humans maim and destroy. Things from our world...they destroy just like we do. But what you know is that your kind does it too. And for all I know, they could be doing exactly the same think in my world." Sho proclaimed matrer-of-factly, with the hazy frustration of someone who's seen or heard or felt the same words over and over again without end. If the only thing that stood in their way was some two-bit protector with some self-righteous ideals...
Well...this would be very easy.
This 'character' wasn't deserving of anger, and as long as Sho could stand here and at least try to fit somewhere he could put that emotion somewhere else if it started to rise. "Humans like us and Digimon like you do what they do of their own voliton. But, Wakako Mozume, this girl behind me? She doesn't get a choice. She's trapped here. And without that power she can't do much about that." These words seemed to flow from every pumping valve in his body, streaming with barely a need for breath.
"And if you want to stand there, thinking you're so close to high heaven that you can leave someone defenseless and without a choice, all because of what they happen to be? I'll be right here, ready to protect someone's right to get even just one chance." This firey way of speaking was almost like a skill...he'd seen it done so many times that just doing it feel like no problem at all.
"So step aside. Or kick yourself right down to my level if you want to squash some 'insects' so badly." Sho finished up, completing his machinations while he talked. This bought enough time for him to plan, thankfully.

Wakako had hoped that maybe they'd be able to reach out to Sorcermon, and prove they weren't meaning anyharm... but the magical being was not having any of it. It was terrifying for Wakako to feel those hate-filled eyes drawn on her, they worse than look anyone has ever given her before.
Insects... He was calling them insects. With the way the Digimon was viciously scoffing at them, denying them entry to stay... Wakako certainly felt as powerless as one. Even if there was nothing she could do she felt, a spark of hope lit back up in her heart as Sho continued to defend her... her eyes growing wet with tears. The young man was right... Sorcermon had no right to pass them off just for being humans. Maybe some humans were evil like that, but neither she nor Sho were! Sorcermon was closing the door on them before they even were being given a chance!
She couldn't let herself be scared... She had came so far already down in these caverns... She couldn't leave empty-handed! "Pl-Please mister Sorcermon, I want to go home! I want to see my mom and dad!" she began to briefly breakdown, a look of anguish on her face at the possible fears she had with Sorcermon... yet at the same time held a stubborn spirit that was on-par with Sho's. Sho was trying so hard to help her... but she had to learn how to help herself. "Please... I need the power that is in this place! I-I need the power to become a Digimon too... I want to find a way home, and this is my only hope." the girl pleaded desperately to the white-garbed Digimon.
Disgusting, ugly creature... He stands before you and greatness. a voice rang in her head... the same tone as the one that had been whispering to her the past few minutes, though this time it being clear and pristine. It sounded elegant and blemishless in Wakako's mind... but also frighteningly cold and ruthless... Almost as frightening as Sorcermon.

"Good. Your kind deserves as much." Sorcermon spat at the ground, briefly revealing his doll-like mouth. It was truly admirable how far one would go for another that they probably barely even knew. Yet none of it reached whatever this...vile mage was. "You can pry this power, the power to -redeem yourselves- out of my cold, lifeless husk of a corpse if you so desire. That, is my answer to this illusory thing you call...Hope." And with that? Sorcermon was done speaking. With a wave of his staff, he seemingly faded into mist, as something...else took his place. A long, unnaturally long, spindly arm ERUPTED from the ground and pulled up a light-blue devilish creature up with it, tattered wings unfurling with a snarl, a cold aura emanating from this...demon. Sorcermon himself was nowhere to be found...For now. The keen-eyed might note a faint ripple in the air behind this new digimon as it began to lumber forwards, fangs bared and arms poised to strike.
Passive: : WHERE'D HE HECKING GO?
Vanilla Ice: Illusion numero uno. Sorcermon fades from view and is replaced with an IceDevimon. Quite horrific in view. He can only use basic attacks. And...If someone hits him? He fades in one hit! Three turn cooldown. Sorcermon pulls an IceDevimon from nowhere! Where'd he go? That's anyone's guess. How do you know if this is real or not? Well, I dunno. What do you do? It's coming to strike at you. It wants to rip Sho and Wakako apart. Make it pay. Make it hurt.
