"Wait is that..." The Doctor spoke her voice flat as those slightly off-blue eyes tracked the familiar figure of a MagnaAngemon through the sky. Only for him to hit the range of the tower his form shattering as a familiar voice screamed out in surprise and greeting.
Prompting an equally surprised yelp from Dagger who leaped backwards darting behind Cas's legs in surprise as the Cloak the Kotemon leveled his shinai at the newcomer that had crashed right atop the apparent defacto leader of the group.
"Identify yourself!" The Kotemon growled out gruffly though some of his normal menace was lost in this form.
"Yeah! How do you know our Tamer!" Dagger called out looking out from behind Cas's legs now that it was clear he wasn't about to be divebombed by a falling Veemon. Only for the twins to find the Doctor stepping past them her face an emotionless mask as she nodded towards the spirit user.
"Elliot. So it is you. These are my partners Cloak and Dagger. However I believe we are needed in discussing the spire." She murmured nodding towards the looming structure in the distance as Owen began announcing their battle plans.
"I find we've thus far preferred to concentrate on the towers." The Doctor informed the blue furred Digimon the Kotemon beside her speaking up.
"Most guardians do not consider us rookies much of a threat next to armor forms. However, we can do higher damage then the normal rookie." Cloak explained briskly more then pleased to discuss tactics.

"Well, yeah. We're slightly informed." Titania continued. "...Informed about what a slog these things can be, at least...Do we have any estimate on how many opponents there are? What specific...level they are? Any idea what those rings are made of...?" She was just rapid-firing questions like it was no one's business. Dang. "...Shoot, sorry." She stated, towards Owen. "I think I can make for a distraction at the very least. Small and fast and whatnot." The fairy uttered with pride!
Naoko meanwhile had been staring towards the spire and the crystals. "I could...probably take cover behind something. Or see what those crystals do, if anything..."
Her partner was way more enthusiastic about this than she was, that's for sure. Naoko was more wondering how she was going to play any role in this whatsoever.

Elliot turned to the jumpy Kotemon and Zubamon, putting his hands up as if to try and show that he was harmless. "I-I'm just a Spirit User," he stammered out, hoping that he wouldn't start this mission out immediately getting attacked by his own team. "I met your tamer a while ago. We were on a train together when it was stopped by Shademon swarming it. She helped guide me through the train, and even though I could've held my own there her being there made it way less scary."
Unfortunately, the Cas he knew then and the Cas he saw now were like night and day. The Cas he had met was warm and caring. She always had a warm smile to help reassure him when things were getting dark, she was dedicated enough to stare death in the face, and she had compassion even for the very beings that tried to harm and even possess her. It wasn't a perfect view of Cas, no. After all, he had only known her for a single day. But from that little view, he knew that Cas was full to the brim with emotion.
This? This was different. Where there was once joy, concern, anger, and determination shining in her eyes, now they were flat and lifeless. It was almost like stickers had been pasted over her natural expression. Her voice, confident enough before to threaten a Shademon even as it possessed her, was now little more than a flat murmur. She looked more tired here than she did on a train ride at midnight. Elliot's face fell as he took in the sight, and his mouth softly opened and closed. It was as if he was visibly struggling for words. "Yeah. Yeah, the mission is important, isn't it? he murmured back, brow ruffling in irritation. Not irritation with Cas, of course. No, it was an irritation at himself, for briefly prioritizing his own feelings over the health of this mission. It was really important that the Digital World be protected. He couldn't take Cas' focus on that personally, even if her dismissal stung.
Did it sting because he was spurned, though? Or did it sting because he had just witnessed the death of someone who had truly made a difference?
He couldn't focus on that. Instead he shook his head, turning to Naoko. "I can help keep you safe, if you're worried," he said, noting her mention of taking cover. "We're going to need our strongest pushing the offense, after all. And any forms I can use right now aren't really good at the whole blasting towers thing. So unless towers can be punched in half, I should probably protect our flanks instead, right?"

OOC: Martian and Frye, I'm going to have to skip you again. I'm afraid it's got to the point where I'm going to have to ask you if you're able to devote yourselves a little better to this plot. If you can't, please let me know.
Ah, so it seemed Cas, Cloak and Dagger knew this Veemon. Speaking of, Owen couldn't help but detect something unusual about the blue dragon. A scent he had only picked up a few times before. This Veemon kind of smelled like... a human? But... that was odd.
Nonetheless, Cas and Cloak mentioned that they found that attacking the tower was generally more effective, and that them being rookies meant that they were likely to be lower priority targets. However Owen was glad to hear they had a bit of extra power.
Even though Titania apologized for asking so many questions, Owen still took them seriously. "Well, there hasn't been a guardian above Champion level yet" he began. "And no more than two have been under the effect of a control spire before". As to what the dark rings were made of, the Gaomon had no clue.
The crystals were also a factor. Owen hadn't taken them seriously at first, but, when Naoko mentioned them, he was a little unsettled at how they glowed in the dark like that. Light in darkness usually meant some kind of power was behind them, but what that power was, he had no idea.
Then Elliot confirmed that he was a spirit user. Owen blinked, he didn't know a human could turn into a Veemon like that, but, there he was, so, oh well, learn something new every day. But he noted that the Veemon seemed troubled by something. Eh, in the end it wasn't his business.
"Alright. I'm pretty confident my armor form can take the brunt of whatever the guardian might have, so, I'll do my best to distract them". RaiGaogamon had what he hoped was a suitable arsenal for this.
"Well then, if that's all, let's head on forward and see what we have to deal with here" he finished, and began to walk toward the control spire in the distance.

Oh god oh heck Naoko kind of forgot that other people were a thing. Except...This Veemon...talked like a human. She believed the idea that Elliot was in fact a spirit wielder. Before she was opting to rule that as a solid maybe. "That's...actually good. If everyone else has the whole 'hitting the tower' bits covered then maybe covering the flanks could be an equally...viable pursuit..."
Maybe. Didn't help she had zero idea who half the people here were or what they were actually capable of. But, there's always a time to learn. Titania meanwhile turned towards Elliot. "I mean, I've heard of a Strikedramon punching through solid digizoid once but that was a tale I heard...long, loooong ago. I'll tell you that if we survive, 'kay?"

Elliot turned to smile reassuringly at Naoko. "Exactly," he said, glad that they were on the same page with this plan. "I'm not gonna let a thing sneak up on you guys, okay?" The reassurance was mostly pointed at the humans of the group, Naoko and Cas. After all, the Digimon here were very equipped to take care of themselves, whereas a human on Digimon fight could only end terribly. Even if a Veemon being added to that mix likely wouldn't do much to tip the scales, at least it'd mean the Digimon here could focus on the spire in good faith.
On the other hand, Titania's musing caught Elliot's attention quite quickly. "Wait, I can do that?" he asked, eyes widening in shock. "Then again, it's not like I've been able to reach Strikedramon in a while. I've kinda had to fall back on other spirits in the meantime . . ." It was the strangest feeling, knowing that he could access a form but not knowing how he could stop it from being so mentally blocked off to him. Sure, he didn't want to fight, but there were times like today where he would really need to. Was he seriously incapable of achieving his older, more combat-ready forms, even then?
Oh well. Considering the fact that he couldn't use any forms on this mission, it was kind of a moot point anyway. For now, he'd just squeeze the most mileage out of little Veemon that he possibly could. It'd just have to do. He sighed, clenching his fists to fortify himself, and then prepared to make his way over to the spire.

The twins would slowly relax. The Kotemon and Zubamon still clearly wary of Elliot and his association with their Tamer, but reassured that he didn't appear to mean her any ill will. Though that didn't stop Dagger from pausing in following his Cas and Cloak to eye Elliot skeptically. "Just so you know we might not look like much now, but my brother and I are megas and we will so kick your ass if you prove a threat. Specially Cloak. He's like hard core protective." The little weapon Digimom threatened voice pitched low so as to not carry beyond Elliot and himself. "Sides Cas as been through enough." He mutters before darting to catch up with the others the Doctor only glancing down at him for a moment brow arched as if to question where he'd been.
"Just making friends." Dagger quipped with a grin getting an equally skeptical look from his twin.
"I can provide medical support for any injured with my partners keeping up steady damage on the tower. I think with the group we have we make a decent attack force." The Doctor murmured glancing over to Elliot her gaze empty and questioning as if he was a puzzle piece she couldn't quite remember where it fit before the look passed and Cassandra was once more all business.
"You weren't causing trouble were you?" Cloak whispered low under his breath as Dagger shrugged.

Briefly, the booming echoes of distant jet engines enshrouded the dark, starry sky in a cacophony of muffled noises. As quickly as Owen had requested their assistance the renowned duo of PROFIT arrived, eager to help out to the best of their abilities. However, with a black spire present, there was literally nothing that Vertigo was capable of doing. These things had a tendency to block ranged attacks and worse render digivolution useless. Not wishing to go near that thing, it was once again upon Cion to save the day (or rather night this time) while the AceJetmon MM merely scouted the area from atop the gloomy canopy.
Although taking several moments, the tiny, silver fox eventually landed gracefully right next to the big, blue pupper. A faint, iridescent aura engulfed her legs as her anti-grav device assured a safe landing that did not cause too much frozen dust to be dispersed in this crystalline wasteland. Exhaling a deep breath, she calmly remained by Owen's side, nodding firmly to everyone else present, especially Elliot whom she remembered from certain events within a formerly corrupted forest.
"Good post-evening to you. Apologies for my late arrival, my skybound partner was asleep. Anyone requiring medical treatment already?" She asked kindly, not having made a proper picture of their situation yet. Though seeing the silhouette of the corrupting piece of architecture in the distance enabled her to conclude that the fight had not yet started. Excellent. The Arnamon turned to the tall RaiGaogamon, appreciating his red scarf as always while proudly wearing her own green one. "I prefer you smaller and fluffy, brother." She quipped, hinting at her own preference of remaining small. "In any case Owy... you do know that healing is basically all I can contribute, yes?"

OOC: As indicated by Cion joining, she has replaced Vaughan's part in this plot. If Quill doesn't post in this round, I'll be asking for another replacement.
As the remaining group went over final discussions, Owen was briefly communicating with his sister using his D-Terminal substitute. A device available to digimon like him without a human partner, it could communicate with the D-Terminals and others like it in the digital world. And to his delight, Cion replied, arriving on the scene fairly quickly.
And quickly did she arrive. Owen had to do a double-take as she landed at his side. But as he realized she was there, he smiled, delighted to see her. He greeted her with a gentle hug. There was so much he wanted to catch up with her on, but alas, a control spire constituted an emergency, so, they would have to do that later.
Supposing he should help introduce her, he waved to grab everyone's attention. "Everyone, this is my sister Cion. I've asked her to help us out with taking out the tower" he said to the others. He gave a little sheepish smile at being told he was better smaller and fluffier, well, that was something he couldn't help. "Well, this form might be better at taking down towers, so, might have to wait for another time for that" was what he said in defense.
On Cion's next query, Owen gave a nervous chuckle, but nodded. "Yeah, I do. Even though we do have a doctor here" he nodded in acknowledgement of Cas. "...you have the ability to quickly heal data, so, if any of us gets critically injured in battle, your powers might be needed".
With that said, Owen then filled Cion in on the situation. "The control spire is there, but its guardians haven't revealed themselves yet. Also I've heard talk from Colin that the control spires tend to be improved quite often, so, we have to be careful of any additional features on this one".
Wishing he had more information to give her, Owen had little new things to say. But, with his sister here, he felt just a little more confident that maybe they could do this. "Well, nothing for it but to head forward, right?" he said to the group as a whole, then began to walk through the crystal sands toward the glowing edifice ahead.
As they neared, they would feel the power of the Control Spire intensify so to say. To Owen, it made the fur on his back stand on its end. He wished he could evolve to MachGaogamon and fight that way, but as expected, there seemed to be a hard block on his ability to do so.
Also, Owen narrowed his eyes and tried to focus on two figures he saw ahead. Lit by the eerie lights of the crystals of the Shining Sea and the Control Spire, he could see two small figures ahead, both the size of human teenagers. And they also looked like human teenagers. But... how could this be? What dark tower guardian would let humans that close?
"Guys, get ready, there's something off about those two" he advised the party.

Elliot had no idea how to feel about Dagger's threat. On one hand, there was almost something hilarious about it. After all, Elliot was much in the same boat, and could've said the same thing if he wanted to be confrontational. Heck, Isaac would've been all too happy to get into a Digivice-waving contest with Dagger! However, it just wasn't Elliot's nature, which lead to the second of his mixed feelings. Half of his fear about the Digital World was its kill-or-be-killed nature, and being threatened by the Digimon partner of someone he once considered a potentially great friend couldn't help but sting.
And then there was the final mixed feeling, arising with Dagger's last muttered comment. Elliot had a feeling that Cas had been through a ton, but having it confirmed so directly was a one-way ticket to a heartache. "I know she has," he answered, the worry quite clear in his voice. "I've been there for some of it, but . . . clearly not enough.
Is there anything I can do? I mean, she helped me before . . ." He let his question trail off as a newcomer arrived, a rather familiar looking silvery fox. Right, she was from the Daedelus expedition, wasn't she? With her arrival he forced himself to shake his worry, swallowing it down as he turned his gaze back to the Control Spire.
Standing underneath the tower were what looked to be a pair of young girls. Wait, what? How did any of that make sense? Elliot turned to the assembled party, voice dropping to a low whisper. "Humans?" he asked. "Do you think they're trying to stop it too?"

Reassurance was a very welcome thing at this point in time, for the looming threat of something that was largely unknown to both human and fairy was proving to be a bit more than one could expect them to handle. Granted, Titania was no stranger to freaky anomalies but Naoko?
The girl was green. Speaking of, she looked to the newcomer and offered a simple wave. "Help's always welcome. I'm Naoko and the fairy's Titania, it's nice to meet you." All things considered? They had a nicely rounded out team. "...I suppose that rounds out the strategizing portion of this..."
As they all turned to the Spire, they all sighted the same thing. Two...humans? Titania was sure there were humanoid Digimon but for them to be...well...A thing? That guarded these things?
That was weird to her.
