MPC Name: What The Heart Wants MPC Number: 52A Reward Requested: Posts
Deep within the digital world, in a place far from most other civilization, there was a glorious and yet inexplicably empty castle. This did not concern ExVeemon much; he just wanted to bring his buddy to a nice, quiet spot where the pair could be alone together. As for the digimon's partner, the young man Leith was mildly interested in such historical sites as castles and battlefields, so that was the selling point for getting him there. ExVeemon was on no sightseeing tour, however. Fast as he could, ExVeemon whisked his boy away to the very top of the tallest tower of the castle. It was at this point that the dragon finally opened up about his true feelings to his partner. ExVeemon spoke of times he saved Leith's life and of other times when Leith saved his, of times when they cried on each other's shoulders and laughed inappropriately hard at each other's jokes. ExVeemon took his partner's hand in his own giant one, looked down at him with a soft smile, and spoke his true feelings for the boy sincerely and openly.
"Are you shitting me?" was the only response the stunned boy could come up with.
And that's the story of why ExVeemon lost his mind, locking Leith away in that tower until such time as the young man could really think about what he was turning down and come to terms with his mistake (or, such was how ExVeemon saw it, anyway). Until his rescuer would come, then, ExVeemon perched on top of the roof of the tower and watched the land vigilantly, wary for any who might dare snatch his beloved out from under him. He roared his taunt to the sky, though perhaps a braver soul might take it as more of a challenge.
"Jesus Christ!" Leith cried out the window, "You're gonna blow my freakin' eardrums, you asshole!"

Clad in shining red armour, the hero of this story stood tall and stout (about waist height) in front of the castle. His steely grey hide and determined yellow eyes fell upon the imposing visage of ExVeemon. The mighty dragon roared before him, shaking the air and silencing the bird-song that'd previously filled the morning air.
"Who's Jesus Christ?" The centipede asked himself, perplexed. Figuring that was the name of the ExVeemon, he stared up challengingly at the dragon, willing himself the courage to confront it. He could do this!
"You, Jesus Christ! Under the name of the Furry Lordess Meicrackmon, I demand that you release that human immediately!" Rinji shouted, shaking slightly. This human was going to be her betrothed! Although he had no idea how a digimon and human relationship was meant to work anyway.

ExVeemon roared again, and from the distance Rinji could probably only barely see the young man trapped in the tower cover his ears to spare himself permanent deafness. When the dragon digimon finally quieted down, then, he yelled out the window, "Hey, don't you fucking start, too, bugboy!" Again, ExVeemon roared a challenge to the invader. "Hey! Either shut up or at least go away when you're gonna do that!" By this point Leith had to shout at the top of his lungs in order to just be heard by himself.
'Jesus Christ' then finally put his money where his very loud was. He spread his wings and took off so hard that dust was visibly blown when the first flap of his powerful leathery wings got him in the air. He then flew in a beeline for the approaching digimon, stopping high in the air above him. One more flap of the wings created an extremely powerful wind, powerful enough to lift Rinji off the ground completely if he doesn't get out of the way in time. "Wind Scythe!" the dragon declared as he attempted to use the wind to blow the bug straight into the thickest tree available with incredible velocity.

Ignoring the human, the centipede readied himself to fight the reptilian beast. He adjusted his stance, prepared for whatever the dragon would throw at him. Which was apparently a gust of wind.
"I thought dragons breathed fire!" He complained as the air pushed him right off his feet and into a tree. This is what he got for going on a diet!
Having landed in the bushel of a tree branch, slightly worse for wear with a few scratches on his armour, his yellow legs held onto the wooden saviour tightly. It was time to kick it up a notch. "For Mei-Narnia!" He shouted as a red glow enveloped him tightly, shining beams of red as the excess energy struggled to contain itself.
Within seconds, the blinding red form grew larger and larger, revealing an absolutely gigantic black centipede monster in its place. All the extra weight had to go somewhere, however...
The monster hit the ground, his landing less than graceful. "Oh shit," he swore, his voice deeper than a rumbling car engine. Feeling his anger rise at the humiliation, he began crackling with electricity, the air taking on a distinct smell of ozone.
"Incinerate Laser," he announced, jaw glowing crimson before unleashing a huge laser-beam towards ExVeemon. Unfortunately for Jesus Christ's human, if it missed, that tower was probably going to come crashing down. Too bad Rinji didn't think of that.

The truth is that this was an attack 'Jesus Christ' was perfectly capable of avoiding. ExVeemon still took the hit anyway, though. Why? Because he couldn't let the tower containing his beloved get hit by that attack. Unfortunately, the tower got hit either way; the force of the attack sent ExVeemon backwards into the tower, but at least the blunt impact did less damage then the bull brunt of a champion-level attack might have done. The boy trapped inside still felt it shake, though. Oh, give me a fucking break! the young man thought to himself just before he ran away from the window and assumed the crash position, prioritizing his safety over his knowledge of the fight's progression.
ExVeemon recovered quikly, though, fueled by animalistic fury. Now he was angry - especially at the fire taunt when, indeed, ExVeemon had no fire attacks whatsoever. He growled just before diving right at the bug, leading with his horn. "Horn Blade!" he declared just at the moment before impact.

The Mukademon roared in return to ExVeemon's growl, oblivious of almost killing his damsel in distress. The human could wait. Not thinking of either dodging ExVeemon or swatting him away, Rinji lowered his head and exposed the carapace armouring his forehead.
Subconsciously figuring that ExVeemon was going too fast to stop, if he were to continue he would almost certainly land himself as a comfy decoration pinned to Mukademon's forehead. If that were the case, Rinji would quite happily turn his head and attempt to smash the annoying dragon into the dirt. If not... well...
Whether or not the dragon had pinned itself to his head and/or gotten smashed or opted to do something entirely different, Mukademon had better things to do than fight dragons all day. He had to save his forest! With another roar, he charged forwards towards the tower, ready to snatch the human from his confinement.
"The squishy is mine!" He growled as he smashed through the stone brick. Shoving his head through the self-made hole, he found the human crouching in a corner. Why the boy was crouching in the corner as if he were doing something completely different was beyond Rinji, but he needed the kid.
With surgical precision, he attempted to catch the boy by the shirt with his pincers and pull him from the crumbling tower.

Indeed, ExVeemon thought he could dive head-first into the enemy with no consequences, but he was entirely wrong. His horn did bury deep into that tough carapace, but it got stuck fast and refused to come back out first. While ExVeemon huffed and grunted with the effort of trying to take his horn back was when the bigger creature slammed him down hard, momentarily stunning him. That was the only reason Rinji was able to so easily snatch Leith from right out of the tower... in addition to the fact that the boy couldn't exactly defend himself from a stories-tall centipede.
The boy didn't go quietly, though. That, and the boy didn't exactly have any way of defending himself against a stories-tall centipede. He f kicked and screamed and demanded, "Put me down, you nutjob!" as if he actually believed any of it would have made any progress toward accomplishing that.
But ExVeemon refused to stay down quietly, even if it took some effort to get back on his feet. The slam on the ground dislodged him from the carapace, and now he was mad. As he took back off, the Rash ability triggered just as the X-mark on the grounded digimon's torso began to glow. That and the declaration, "Vee Laser!" was Rinji's only warning before an energy beam shot out from that X mark - and it was aimed straight at the crack in armor caused by his horn earlier.
"Goddamnit, ExVeemon, you're gonna kill me!" Leith whined when he saw that there was about to be a full-force attack aimed uncomfortably close to himself. "I don't want either of you! Put me the hell down!"

The centipede growled at the boy's struggling. "I'm here to save you, idiot," he hissed as he adjusted his grip on the kid's shirt. Rinji found himself with far less patience when he was digivolved.
Having momentarily forgotten about ExVeemon, Rinji took his sweet time removing his head from the castle when he heard the dragon announce his attack. Growling again, he was practically unable to counter with the boy still stuck in front of his mouth. If he were to use Incinerate Laser, that would spell the end for the kid. Likewise with using any sort of electrical attack.
All he could do was slightly duck, causing the V-Laser to graze across the crack in his armour. The pain from the surprise attack practically knocked him off his legs, causing him to crash into the ground, and he had to consciously increase his grip on the kid's shirt. He'd be feeling that in the morning.
Nonetheless, he righted himself back onto his legs. "Never announce a surprise attack!" Rinji shouted, feeling slightly smug despite the attack still having technically hit him. It hurt like digi-hell, too.
Still, now he was facing Jesus Christ, practically disarmed. Lasers would disintegrate the boy, an electrical discharge would electrocute and biting was out of the question. The digimon growled again, his breath hot on the boy's back.
That dragon had too much free reign in the air, he figured. "Encryption Storm," he growled, and immediately, the sky was encompassed by dark clouds. The sunlight that'd previously lit their battlefield was now extinguished, replaced by a grey sky. Hopefully the ensuing lightning and gale would make it harder on the dragon.
"Time to go," he said to himself and the kid, before attempting to do a runner towards the city. Pretty easy when you had about one hundred legs. There was no doubt the dragon would take chase, and the city was far away, but why bother thinking about that?

"Give him back!" ExVeemon growled at the centipede as he pursued from the air. That was quickly showing to be fruitless, though; it turned out Rinji was able to run on the ground faster than the dragon was able to fly given the building storm. For this reason, ExVeemon landed. By folding his wings, ExVeemon was able to barely keep pace beside the giant bug digimon. Even his determination and stamina had limits, though; he panted hard as he was forced to fun.
"Oh, for fuck's sake!" Leith shouted over the building wind as he started resisting the bug again, "I'm not getting with Veemon, I'm not getting with Lady Crackheadmon, and I'm definitely-" Leith began to raise his arms, hoping to slip right out of the shirt he was being held by. "-not gonna be the object in your stupid game of capture the flag!" It worked; the young man dropped to the ground and wisely rolled to one side both to ease the landing and to avoid being trampled if the Rinji was still running by then.
ExVeemon ran to scoop him up, but Leith held out a hand to stop him. "No!" Leith commanded, which actually finally got the enraged digimon to pause. "What a stupid freakin' fight! What the hell is wrong with you two?"

If Rinji had been able to turn around and see ExVeemon jogging as if he were at bootcamp, he probably would've started laughing. Unfortunately, he was more concerned with the human struggling in his grip.
"It's not like you have to marry her forever, just run away afterwards!" The Mukademon argued back, not really concerned with whatever problems the human had. However, the boy then slipped out, landing on the ground somewhere beneath Rinji's feet.
Left holding a dirty old shirt (did the human ever hear of cleanliness?) the centipede skidded to a stop, roughly aware of where the human had dropped as he attempted to avoid tramping him. "For Drasil's sake," he cursed as he turned around to see the human arguing with the dragon.
Weren't they enemies or something? Now, he was starting to get a mouthful too.
"I'm just doing my job," Rinji growled deeply, a tinge of disappointing annoyance slipping into his tone. He tried to reign in any hint of anger from his voice. Damn, why did this form have to be so hard to control? At least ExVeemon wasn't attacking him again.
The centipede monster sighed, realising the human probably wanted an explanation. "Look, human," he began, unaware of his condescending tone. "Meicrackmon threatened to level my home. And I don't even have one! I live in a bloody forest! What was I supposed to do, let her destroy an entire forest? She told me to bring her a male human, so that's what I did."
Rinji paused for breath, and continued, "now, I don't know why you were in that castle or what ExVeemon has to do with any of this, but didn't you want to be saved?" It wasn't like he was trying to hurt him. "Most humans are grateful when they're saved from evil digimon," he muttered, still a little annoyed.

"He's not an 'evil digimon,' dumbass!" Leith shouted that at the train-sized centipede. The boy took a pause then to dust himself off, and he needed a minute to get his feet back under him after his mildly high fall. Next, he glared at Exveemon while addressing Rinji. "Though, if I'm honest, I'm not very happy with him right now, either!"
"Leith, I-"
Leith was having none of what ever defense ExVeemon intended to offer up. "-locked me in a goddamn castle!"
"Only because-"
"Hold that thought." Leith turned to address the centipede digimon then. He held up his wrist, where he wore his prominently displayed digivice, high up so even the giant digimon could get a good look at it. "And you can tell Devilmaycaremon I've already got one unruly digimon I can hardly control, and I don't need another. I'm spoken for!" Leith noticed ExVeemon's grin out of the corner of his eye. "...poor choice of words! The point is I already belong with one digimon- wait, nope, another bad choice. Look, just-" Leith growled nonsensically as he tried to get his thoughts and words in order. "You need to grow a spine and fight back when someone threatens you instead of kidnapping strangers," he scolded Renji before turning to ExVeemon. "And you- you need to figure out no means no!" He then angrily screamed at both digimon, "Any questions?"

The giant centipede leaned forward slightly to inspect Leith's digivice, his expression betraying nothing. The kid's words made him pause in thought. Then, he spoke up.
"I don't need a spine. I already have an exoskeleton," he said matter-of-factly. "But... sorry. Shouldn't have been such a push-over." Maybe it would've been weird to see a giant monstrous black centipede apologizing to a 19 year old boy alongside a huge humanoid dragon, but in the Digital World, this was Tuesday.
Rinji was more annoyed with himself now. He'd been trying to take the pacifist route by bowing to Meicrackmon's demands, but instead had ended up doing far worse than if he'd refused. He'd been wasting energy fighting some kid and his possessive dragon boyfriend when he could've been using it to resist Meicrackmon.
Unfortunately for the trio now, there was a full-blown storm whipping past them. Blasts of lighting tore through the air, sometimes a little too close for comfort. "Yeah, how about we get out of here? I'm pretty good at summoning storms but once they're here, they're here to stay. Unless humans enjoy thousands of volts coursing through their body and I just haven't heard about it yet."

Exveemon hung his head in shame as his Tamer scolded him; disappointing Leith was about the one thing in the world the giant dragon digimon wanted to avoid above all else. Leith almost found the situation of the two titanic monsters looking remorseful because of his words funny, but there were definitely bigger things to worry about. Exveemon tried to apologize, "Leith, I'm s-" but a bolt of lightning then struck the ground between the Tamer and partnered digimon, forcing both to jump back.
"Stranger, the answer is no," Leith then jumped in, "Humans do not enjoy thousands of volts coursing through our bodies." Like a dedicated bodyguard, Exveemon still scooped up his partner and took off running beside the centipede digimon. "Exveemon? Have I ever mentioned thunder storms scare the shit out of me?"
"Knowing you, I kind of assumed!"
"Yeah, ha ha!" Leith thought to change subjects then to try and not think about the deadly lightning and deafening thunder. "Hey, stranger- bug- Overgrowncreepycrawlymon! Maybe we can have a happy ending here: Exveemon and I can help you with Crackheadmon! How's that sound?"

Watching the exchange between the human and his partner, the Mukademon would've smiled, had they not been in such a pressing situation as a literal lightning storm.
"What the..." Rinji growled as the flash of light struck between the two. It forced him to squint, but thankfully when the induced blindness faded, both were revealed to be just fine. Still, he chuckled deeply at the human's feisty reply to his earlier remarks.
Uncoincidentally, the human wasn't so appreciative of lightning. However, it seemed the boy had a proposal to make, and the centipede turned his massive head to hear him speak.
"A happy ending, huh? That would be splendid," he spoke, sounding genuinely pleased and surprised at the same time, despite the name calling. "And in return, if you two don't mind walking beneath me, I can shield you from the lightning strikes." Indeed, Mukademon's carapace was designed to conduct electricity, especially since it was technically his own.
And so the very strange trio travelled back, away from the castle together. Rinji, the centipede, who learned the importance of asserting yourself against the true enemy and not bowing to their orders; ExVeemon (aka Jesus Christ), the dragon, having learned the importance of consent, and Leith, who finally learned how to slip out of a T-Shirt.
Then they lived happily ever after until the next digital Armageddon arrived.
The End.
