"This is good right? The distress beacon is set up.. it's pulse is strong... I think... Damnit Cousin why did you have to do that?"The Ranamon sighed and sat against the wall that barely peeked above the water. She was maybe about five hundred feet from that tower and still well within range of the bloody thing. She had been exploring with her cousin when they ran into this thing and it clamped some wierd ring around his neck. He startled her so badly when he suddenly attacked her! Now she was stuck out here, with a hurt leg of all things and couldn't really leave her cousin alone with whatever was responsible for controlling him like this. She had heard about these towers from outsiders before but she sort of dismissed them as just another story. "Ugh.. Maybe next time listen to the outsiders when they warn yah about stuff Tiki..."The Ranamon leaned and squinted to look at where her cousin was; she could hear him from time to time. He was always good with explosives and if those booms were anything to go by he was probably laying them down in the area.. Making it kind of a problem for anyone that wanted to come through here. "Ugh... Next time I'm bringing someone that doesn't carry an entire armory in their pocket..."She'd sit back down and grumble; turning the distress beacon over a couple of times. How long had she been here? Like fifteen or twenty minutes so far? It was kind of hard to tell since the sun was so high in the sky; made it hard to figure out time just by looking at it. But she counted her blessings as it wasn't raining, that'd just make it harder for her to remain calm... "Look out!" Cion yelled at the top of her lungs as her small, gracile frame fell down towards the mostly submerged architecture of the Sunken Elysium. Before this incident, she had enjoyed a leisurely ride inside Vertigo the AceJetmon at mach 5. It was by pure coincidence that her partner had been close enough to the distress beacon's signal to receive it, but acts of heroism were often spawned from such a fortuity. In an attempt to be all dashing and professional, the vulpine ascendant had intended to simply eject herself from her friend and make her appearance in her apex form, but the obvious influence of a dark spire had nullified these ambitions.
Not used to the frail state of one of her weakest vessels, the fluffy Arnamon, as she tumbled to her doom with great velocity, nervously pat down her arms. Eventually, mere meters until she would have impacted with the solid stones of the city's buildings, she managed to push the button of her 'Anti-Gravity Device'. An aura of azure, slightly iridescent binary code engulfed her, rapidly decelerating her body. Still, her landing was far from graceful, arriving with a loud pop and tumbling several times over her own axis.
It was with swirling eyes that the tiny, silver fox sat on her well-defined bum, leaning against a concrete wall and slowly regaining her senses. "Urgh..:" Was all the Arnamon let out as her vision returned to her, beholding the nearby silhouette of a Renamon. "Oh dear" She exclaimed as she took a deep breath, hastily leaping back on her legs and bowing kindly and respectfully to the individual in need for help. "Cion - senior officer of PROFIT's mercenary division. How may I be of service?" She asked composedly, trying her best to make up for previous absurdity through courtesy.
Briefly tilting her head upwards, Cion was as always glad to know that Vertigo served as an excellent scout who covered the whole area, even from miles above them - a minuscule gray spot in the eternal blue that was nevertheless of incredible value. However, assaulting the place with nuclear mortars was probably not a good idea.

The Sunken Elysium. Agumaru has come full-circle. Once he had come here for training, and found himself both greater strength inside and out, and an artifact of great power. He had discovered the Digimental of Determination here, and fended off an angry, wild Gesomon. Now he has returned to use the Digimental to help a Digimon in distress. Once he could not swim, and now he has unlocked a form that is better in water than out of it. It was good that he could put this power to good use, and now it was time to do so.
The Legosaurus wades, then paddles, over the Ranamon with a look of fierce determination. His swimming form would not win any contests, but at least he is doing more than just treading water. "Are you okay," he asks. "Are you hurt? What is the situation?" Hopefully it was one he could handle.

The sound of the ocean waves rushing against the old ruins were quite thought provoking to Toki. How long ago was it that this place thrived as a civilization? How did it get destroyed? Was it as simple as being washed away by rising tides? The thought was sobering. No matter how long a place thrives, nothing truly lasts forever. Were the people here happy during the peak of this region's former glory? He liked to think so.
However, something marred this otherwise tranquil look into the past. As he stood atop one of the crumbled ruins, Toki spotted a familiar dark spire in the distance and clenched his fists "Not even in a place already lost to time, hm?" he took a look around the surrounding area and spotted a small gathering a ways off from the tower. He hopped off his current perch and made his way towards the group and tried to keep hidden from the tower in the event its guardian was nearby. The young man made his way up the building they were using as a sort of forward base and made his presence known "Looking to do something about that thing? Count me in." he said, bowing his head politely toward the group.
He looked at who was gathered. He didn't seem to recognize anyone here so far. Something about the Arnamon was familiar, but he didn't catch that it was Cion since he never saw her in her earlier forms "I'm Toki Akiyama, here to help however I can. I've dealt with these things once before, so I sort of know our options here." He looked over at the Ranamon "You're hurt...did the tower's guardian do this...?" he asked, concerned as he knelt down next to her.

"Should we do something?" Veemon asked his partner Leith. While the pair were on another one of those little 'adventures' on which Veemon liked to indulge in Leith's spare days, the Tamer, once again having been sort of dragged along, received the distress signal on his device. When he did, though, he didn't even have to think about the answer to Veemon's question.
"Uh, nope."
"But it's so close!"
"Veemon, that's the ocean. There's nothing-" But Leith made the mistake of zooming in on the beacon's signal, which showed the pair that indeed there were a couple of sparse structures that poke up.
"See, what'd I tell ya? And it's close enough that we can swim from shore!" Leith sighed, frowned, and tried to object, but he knew this was Veemon's crusade now. That's why the pair ended up swimming, fully clothed, out to the site of the distress signal. Leith was tempted to take so many other helpers present as a reason to turn back, but the imposing tower upon which everyone seemed to be staring made him very nervous.
"Well... I was about to let you guys handle this yourselves, but, Jesus, what the hell is that?" he asked while he and Veemon easily tread water.
"And what's that?" Veemon added, addressing the Ranamon with collar-like object around he neck.

Tiki let out a soft sigh and shook her head; why did her cousin have to be the one to get hit by that ring? She wasn't even capable of champion yet; so if she had been the one to get that thing on her they would of been fine. She'd perk up blink a few times as as not only did she get to see the entire course of Cion's landing the Ranamon winced slightly as it seemed that they had hurt themselves?
"You all rig.... Oh! I've heard of you! Jeez did my Distress signal really warrant that much attention? Well-"
The Ranamon blinked a few times as another individual arrived; someone she didn't recognize or a form that she didn't recognize. The ToyAgumon earned a curious look however and they'd go over their form a few times before sighing.
"Okay so uhm, yes I'm hurt. My leg got hit by one of my cousin's explosions. Do-"
The Ranamon stopped herself and blinked a few times as a third individual arrived, the rookie made a confused face as these entries were so close together that there was no way they couldn't of been in the area.
"Erm.. .Hiya Toki! Yeah the tower over there threw a ring at my cousin, he hit me with one of his explosive charges and-"
The ranamon frowned a little bit as yet another pair of individuals arrived; a human and their tamer. They seemed to be confused slightly and the ranamon tapped her neck. She wasn't sure what they were talking about; her neck was bare.
Uhm. Well. Hi. That's a tower, this group reacted to my distress signal and... well I guess you just sorta ran into this jeez... Okay okay, so do one of you have healing? Cause I can help if yah do, My cousin is by the tower and he's really strong. I don't really know how these things work caaaaause this is the first one I've ever seen. Pretty sure my cousin knew about them, would explain all the explosives he was carting with him..."
The Ranamon paused and rubbed the back of her head.
"okay first up, I guess yah are already ready to fight or whatever. My cousin has a literal armory on him; explosives, metal stuff, you name it. I don't really know the full scope but he's a tough son of a gun."

"With that dark spire behind you - of course!" Was Cion's cheery response, her grin rapidly shifting to a minor frown for the endeavor at hand was not one taken lightly. After all, these pesky structures had the unpleasant attribute of nullifying hostile powers around them, which naturally meant that heroes like her had a difficult time vanquishing its sentinel and destroying it for good. If only they would not pop up anywhere every now again - trying to wipe them out forever was akin to smoking out an ant infestation. Thankfully, it was soon revealed that many more had followed this call of duty today.
A ToyAgumon and a male human with his partner Veemon; both of them she did not recognize from any previous encounters and who seemed to be no interested in her either. But then there was... "Toki?" The Arnamon asked rhetorically, recognizing the simple-hearted lad she had picked up from the desert several months ago. It was certainly delightful to know that the chap was still frolicking in the digital world in his quest to attune with his totems and attain might. She was sure that he had at least reached a single higher form, but this day she would likely not see it due to obvious factors.
Enchantingly so, the young man had not lost his manners and goodwill, immediately attempting to help out their client by whatever means were necessary. Cion, upon hearing that the Ranamon's leg was injured, did not hesitate to lay her paw onto the battered limb. "Bracing Respite..." She whispered, weak energies of regeneration entering the aquatic digimon's system to somewhat ease the pain. "There ya go. I hope it helps." Giving her buddy a pat on the shoulder, the vulpine mercenary returned to a normal stance, eagerly awaiting to receive information and instructions.
Listening carefully, the Arnamon nodded, understanding that their upcoming, dangerous enemy was an enslaved relative of their 'customer'. "These black towers claim a vessel and inhibit digivolution of everyone not affiliated with it. It's the reason why I fell from the sky... and why this won't be a matter of seconds - unfortunately so." Cion explained the idiosyncrasies of the undertaking at hand, hoping that every participant got a sufficient picture. "Some special types of advancement like armor-digivolution remain functional though."

So many Digimon answered the call to heroic battle! Perhaps Agumaru wasn't needed here. Then again, that's what he thought last time, when he ended up a valuable asset. Either way, he was no use to anyone here as a simple... as his Rookie form. It was going to be a tough fight, and they would need someone who could swim, not someone who could maybe tread water for a few more minutes then start sinking. Staying afloat was taking up too much of his energy, but at the same time, it was pushing him, allowing him to transform...
Into Platymon, the Duckmole of Determination. This blue fusion between a beaver, a mole, a duck, and a... whatever has venomous stingers on its feet... was ready to help! No more floundering in the water, now he was platypus-ing, swimming with no effort.
It seems some of the heroes know each other, but Agumaru was caught out of the loop. "Hey guys," he says, waving with a flippered paw. "The name's Agumaru. I've helped take one of these towers down before as a Rookie, but no doubt they're getting tougher. Glad to have you all on the same team." He then turns to the - hopefully healed - Ranamon. "Don't worry, we'll free your cousin."

Toki was caught up thinking of a course of action to take. Last time he dealt with a tower, he and the group he was with had successfully destroyed the dark ring. This time though, with an enemy armed with more than just a club, might be more difficult.
He was snapped out of his thoughts when Cion addressed him. Then, he realized they had said their name earlier "Oh, Cion! Oh dear I'm sorry, it took me a minute to realize you had already introduced yourself in that form. It's so good to see you again!" he said with a bright smile. "I've grown a bit since we last met. I'm looking forward to showing you what I can do." he seemed proud and optimistic, but not overbearingly so.
Toki politely bowed his head to Agumaru, as well as Leith and his Veemon "What that is? That's bad news is what it is. It has to be taken down as soon as possible, preferably without hurting the Digimon enslaved by the dark ring around it. The way I see it we have two options. We either destroy the ring that's controlling the Digimon guarding it, or destroy the tower itself. I won't tolerate the suggestion of destroying the Digimon." he said with a somewhat stern look. "In any case, I think this time it would actually be best to focus on the tower and stay a bit spread out while we do so. If the guardian has explosive skills, we'll want to avoid clustering together...but we can use that to our advantage as well if it tries to use them so close to the tower." he said. He made a similar suggestion the last time he fought against a tower, but this situation looked more advantageous for that plan.
He looked at Agumaru and smiled, happy for the aquatic support "It's a pleasure to meet you, Agumaru. And yeah, we'll save them, don't you worry. A lot of strong help here. We just have to be cautious and work together on this."
A faint manifestation of his spirit, preferring to show himself as Antylamon, appeared "Shall we debut our Armor form, Toki?" he asked.
Toki nodded "Sounds like a plan." he brought out his digivice and formed a string of data around his other hand "Let's give this a go..." he said, bringing the data the the device "Armor Spirit Evolution!" the data dispersed around Toki as it changed his body to the form of a large bipedal Digimon with guns on its hands and a bandoleer around its body "Gargomon!" he landed back among the group and flexed the metallic fingers around his weapons "Hopefully I'll adjust to this pretty quickly."

Great. Literally everyone knows what's going on except me. Even worse, Veemon had gone and embarrassed the pair in front of everybody by freaking out over a shadow cast on Ranamon. Isn't that just what I needed? These guys already seem to mostly know each other, so we're already outsiders. Hell, only the one person so much as nodded their head at us. Now everyone also thinks we're also morons. At least that helpful little cat-fox digimon was able to explain things. Though inexperienced, young man was tempted to point his personal problems with Toki's plans, namely, 'Focus on the tower?' The tower can wait! We should put everything into freeing the digimon first and then using their explosive skills to help us with the tower... and not just because that'll make the process a lot safer. But as the outsider, Leith assumed his opinion was unwelcome.
Veemon wasn't fooled, though. He could see it in Leith's face. He called out Leith, "What is it?"
But the young man maintained silence on the matter. "It's nothing." Leith changed the subject then in his attempt to forestall the push the young man knew would come. "I can't believe we're actually doing this, but it sounds important. So if armor digivolution is truly the answer, then..." The young man activated his digimental of friendship within his digivice and then gave his own partner a wide berth.
As a circle of lightning bolts surrounded the swimming blue digimon, he announced, "Veemon, armor digivolve to-" Then the circle of lightning bolts expanded and harmlessly dispersed when the transformation was complete. "Raidramon!"
"Shit, that's so cool to watch every time." Leith swam back to his partner then and mounted him. "And just in case..." Leith then engaged his diving kit program, which fitted each partner with something like a cross between a medical oxygen mask and a snorkeler's mask, only instead of a tube of oxygen, two small tubes that converted water to oxygen jutted out from each side of the mask. "Better safe than sorry. Alright... I guess we're doing this. And I guess we're swimming, too. Raidramon, why do you keep getting me into this crap?"
Beneath his mask, Raidramon just smirked.
Then again, we're a team of five digimon... plus me, I guess. And we're all against just one champion opponent? That kinda sounds like overkill. But, hey, maybe we'll have a chance to earn back some of that respect.

Tiki rubbed the back of her neck and glanced between the group that had assembled in front of her. Between the people that had arrived she had a faint sense of hope that they'd be able to quickly deal with her cousin and bring down the tower. The Ranamon blinked a little bit as she was subject to a healing ability from cion on her leg. The stinging sensation all but vanished and the water fairy was able to stand [somewhat tenderly] on her leg again. She'd give a small smile to the solo mon before turning to look at the group. The toyish creature evolved into a Platymon making Tiki blink a few times as she looked over yet another unfamiliar form. Mixed with t he explanation of the the Arnamon she'd sigh. Armor digivolution huh? That would be incredibly useful here wouldn't it? She'd chuckle nervously and rub her neck again, seeming out of sorts with the idea that they'd destroy her cousin. She knew him well enough to know even in a fight like this he'd likely be okay after all was said and done... She hoped. "W-well I don't think it'll come to that, Destroying my Cousin I mean ah..."The digimon blinked as it seemed that at least three of the four individuals in front of her were capable of an armor digivolution. Platymon, Gargomon, and Raidramon. All digimon she hadn't seen before; it made her a little nervous honestly and the Ranamon sighed. "All right well, I'll help out against my cousin or something, I can uh... Bless, throw water bullets, launch a bubble and create a clone of myself. N-not for very long though. You all seem to know what you're doing... K-kinda so uhm. I'll just follow along and provide assistance where needed okay?"The digimon shifted a little bit and nervously glanced between the group. Those explosives had hurt much more than she wanted to admit. Not just in a physical sense but in an emotional one too. The small smile and the Ranamon's ability to stand was all the gratitude and appreciation Cion needed to beam with glee in return, proud of herself and content to know that her goodwill had payed off once again. Toki's amicability caused her grin to become even wider, tiny white fangs glistening ever so slightly in the reflection of the sun's light cast by the titanic ocean's surface. "The pleasure is but mine, darling. And trust me, I'm very much looking forward to what you have in store these days, Sir Gargomon." She responded kindly, though there was a hint of chummy challenge in the way she pronounced her final words.
In any case, personal expectations and relations were probably not of big concern during this endeavor. Ultimately, they had a dark spire and its corrupted sentinel to deal with, but the fact that most combatants were already familiar with encountering such a threat brought great ease to her mind. With introductions and brief banter over, her temporary partners assumed higher forms, which was of course a boon for the Arnamon did not have the capability to tap into the source of an armor. She was able to ascend to a level far beyond most humans' and digimons' comprehension, but unfortunately not for as long as their target was intact.
Nodding to his old chap, the silver fennec approved of the plan to take down the black tower itself. While destroying the enslaving ring was a difficult yet viable option, wiping out its host certainly was not in her moral opinion - a sentiment thankfully shared by everyone else, including the poor sister of the captive. "You're right - it won't." She assured the aquatic digimon with a benevolent yet firm tone to her voice, After all, genuine sincerity was one of her core values she embodied.
Listening to their client's suggestions, Cion nodded once more in esteem of the support she intended to provide. "Just like I'll do, keep as much distance as possible. Don't engage in melee combat. Let our three Champions take care of the direct approach, while we assist with everything we got. My healing and your blessings and distractions with the clone should be adequate." The Arnamon instructed respectfully, hoping that the Ranamon's previous statement of 'providing assistance where needed' was serious. Although considering that it was their desire to liberate her brother, fealty was certainly a given.

Toki and Cion refuse to delete the enslaved Digimon. Agumaru gives a beaky grin. "I'm glad we're in agreement! The 'guardian' is a victim here, after all!" He turns toward Ranamon, his smile softening but not fading. "See? Don't worry," he says softly and reassuringly. "We're here to help, not to hurt."
Ranamon has some pretty good skills, as Agumaru is sure everyone else does. A plan is quickly formulated - have Ranamon avoid melee, stay spread out, and focus on the tower to avoid attacking the guardian. "So... not free the Guardian first and have them help? I suppose that would be risky, possibly hurting the Digimon or making ourselves become picked off targets. Whatever you think is best."
As long as Digimon are revealing their skills, Agumaru might as well let his team know his. "Most of my attacks are melee to be honest, though I do have one ranged attack. I'm really good at withstanding and countering blows, and I can pretty much sense any Digimon in this water even if I were to be blinded. I could slow down the Guardian in melee while you all tackle the tower, or I could go after the tower and hammer it with my crushing tail."

He smiled warmly at the Ranamon "I appreciate it and find it incredible what you would go through to save someone important to you. However, if you have to stop for whatever reason, whether you're too tired or hurt to continue or it just becomes too stressful, then please back away for as long as you need. We'll do everything we can."
He couldn't help but chuckle at Cion's somewhat indirect challenge "Hey now, I don't think it's the time for me to be showing off, but we'll see what happens." he was really happy to see her again. It wasn't since he got lost in the desert that he saw her. That was a rather embarrassing incident but he was grateful for it all the same. He trusted that Cion and Ranamon would be able to keep them safe.
Agumaru's appreciation for the plan of action didn't go unnoticed "I agree. They're as much a victim here as anyone else. Now..." he thought about how to proceed "I have an idea of how to initiate combat and draw the guardian's attention so that everyone can get into position. I feel pretty nimble in this form so I should be able to avoid serious damage if I keep my focus." he mused.
Leith being uncomfortable about something caught Toki's attention "Hey...are you alright? We're going to be working together so if you have any suggestions or ideas moving forward, don't be afraid to voice them, okay? Even if an idea isn't agreed on, it's important to have that level of trust with those you're fighting alongside." he said as he tried to make Leith more comfortable with the group. He reminded him of himself when he first took on a tower.

At first, Leith's eyes widened a little upon being directly addressed; clearly, he didn't expect that. He averted his eyes modestly a moment, but it was still clear he was glad to be acknowledged and called on. So when he spoke, his mood seemed to improve a little. "Right... well, it sounds like we're set on making the tower the primary target. I'm not gonna argue that, then." The young man took a moment then to pee around, trying to remember what each said their specialties and preferred approaches were. "My guy Raidramon here-" Leith at that point pat his mount's side a couple of times. "-is surprisingly fast in the water. Like, this time with a Whamon-"
"Leith, I had fun, too, but we're in the middle of something important," Raidramon patiently redirected him.
"Right, point is, speed's the name of his game, and I wouldn't want to be on the wrong end of his biting abilities or his ranged electric attacks. It sounds like you-" Leith looked at Cion. "-are gonna try to support as needed and stay clear of combat. You-" Now he spoke to Agumaru. "-are an aquatic close-range type who can take a hit, so you should probably be primarily in charge of holding off the opponent like you said. You-" This time it was Toki who was being referred to. "If you're really the quick and agile type, I'd send you to worry about the tower unless under duress. And that leaves you." Finally, Leith addressed Ranamon. "Sounds like support and deception is your thing, but you can still do a little damage. I'd have you primarily guard the cat-fox-thing but, if she's not in danger, hit the tower and do what you can for the platypus-guy. Use your judgement. And that's already a well-rounded team, which means I think the only place left for us special teams."
Raidramon seemed to nod in agreement with Leith's course of action. "We'll just keep our eyes open and be wherever we're needed most." He then made eye contact with Toki. "If you're having trouble, we'll be right there. Otherwise, it's demolition duty!" Raidramon smiled widely at that thought.
As Leith was speaking, his mood clearly grew from awkward and anxious to confident and commanding. However, his demeanor went right back to its initial state when he realized he had to ask, "So... what do guys think? 'Yes?' 'No?' 'Quit being so arrogant and stop telling us what to do?'"
Static gained one post's charge. Static is now ready.
