Found Without Loss (Sho & Caligo)

Running. No matter what he was, when he was this free it was the only thing on his mind. With his twin tails lashing behind him and through the raised grass, Sho refused to stop moving, even just being a couple of days into his digital vacation. There still remained some infinite tranquility in the scorched and parted grasses that surrounded him. Even just being here for the first time he could tell that the relief that surrounded him was immense. He just had to stop and breathe it all in, letting his ever braided hair fall wayside of his veiled face.
Here he could stretch out his claws and widen his still effeminate maw for a nice long yawn. The wide feline ears atop his head twisted and marveled at the silence of the place. After all this time and without a hint of fatigue or weight, Sho felt he could learn how to walk as a Bastemon. With his claws and jewelry still attached to him, it'd probably look more like a glistening prance than a simple stroll. He began to wander the well-battled fields that surrounded him, wondering if a name for this place would ever come to mind.
Alas, a twitch struck his mind. A rush of air, something enough to fling him into the air on a jump in shock. But all it was was a sound, small and complete, like a breath. He lowered himself and sunk his claws into the split ground, waiting for that sound to grace his ears once again. Another twitch, one with direction this time, one his instincts could follow and strut towards with this fresh form of his. Now he felt less like an agile leopard and more like a stalking and stunted bloodhound, but he was sure he just wasn't used to it.
Sho would strut, stalk, and prance with the pallor of something that had no idea what they'd unearth. Something that barely knew how Digimon fought and wasn't too keen on finding out how first hand. That fear was merely a reminder of the vulnerability he'd only felt a couple times before. And yet once he came upon what laid in the scorched grasses, he couldn't help but let out a girlish giggle that rendered him completely undone. The small creature in black didn't even seem like anything to fear, that, and it was sleeping...
For a second, he almost made the mistake of poking it with his sharp claws, but with vastly better judgment he decided to merely tickle its nose with the lion-tail end of his long braid.

Darkness, screams, the sounds of battle. All of that muddled about in his mind as he slept, the dream seemingly unable to make out any sort of cognitive image. However, something then broke through the rest of the noises, a loud scream of horror.
"CALIGOOOOOO!"
With a jolt he felt himself leave his restless sleep, eyes shooting open as he sat up and rapidly looked about, his brain screaming in panic. Where was he? What had just happened? WHO was he? After several moments he felt a shooting pain in his head, causing his to wince as he lifted a hand to rub it. Right, okay, he needed to calm down, try and remember.
Falling back onto the ground and closing his eyes, he let out a sigh. Right, my name? My...My name is...Caligo. Right? Yeah, gotta be, I remember it as my own. And...and I am an Impmon I think. Do I know where I am? ...Yeah, yeah I do, though it isn't what I remember it as supposing to look. The...the Network Plains, but it looks like someone got real pissy and trashed it. Better question, why the hell am I here? I didn't play a part in this did I?
He laid there for several seconds, thinking, trying to remember...nothing. Frowning he tried to remember what happened before he came to the Plains...nothing. His heart rate began to rise, sweat began to form on his forehead and in his palms under his gloves. He tried to remember ANYTHING from his past...and...and...
...there's nothing. I...I don't remember anything. Holy crap, I don't remember ANYTHING! What the hell happened to me?! Why can't I-Why do I feel something tickling my nose?
Before his mind could panic any further, it came to a screeching halt as he felt something tickling his nose. Hoping whatever it was that was doing it didn't notice, he ever so slowly slightly cracked open an eye to see what it was. A tall cat-woman-thing was tickling his noise with a braid. Bastemon. He thought to himself, somewhat surprised he knew what it was.
A moment after seeing what it was. His body suddenly, likely on instinct if he had to guess, rolled away from the Bastemon, lifted himself onto a foot and knee, and twisted around to glare at her. A hand with a fireball floating above the palm held up, he questioned...her? "Alright, I just had a really rude wake up call, so I'm a little tense here. Just answer my questions will ya? Who are you and what are you doing here?"

Simply reacting, the Bastemon jumped back as well, the grass around it inadvertently sliced to ribbons as the feline swiveled back to attention. Without even a howl of shock, even just one look at the fireball wielding mite was enough for the gal to regain her cool and stand with grace again. They carried a silky and slightly polished voice, nothing like the guy within.
"You can put down the heat, little guy...I'm just a spirit user, Sho." Sho waved his claws in front of himself dismissingly, hoping he wouldn't have to dodge any stray flames soon. "That and I'm sure I can go where I please, at least here!" They ceased their chuckling with a short scoff, still waving off into the distance before stopping themselves to think and ponder this little person. With her tails lashing behind her, she aimed a low claw back at the Impmon, starting to realize the oddity of something like him in a battlefield like this.
"Hope my hair wasn't too offensive to you, but I hope you can answer your own questions. We're both complete strangers after all, and this place seems even stranger than the both of us, doesn't it?" Sho blithely prodded and pried, finding the presence of someone else here simply delightful. It was comical how many things he could find delightful while in this form. But while he still had his mind, he had to remind himself to use it. Especially with what new things he was just getting used to being able to do...That and these disturbed plains were completely new as well.
Even if the least foreign thing in front of her immediately wanted to attack him, he was sure there was some sensible reason for it other than his supposed "Rude Awakening". "I mean, look around! This is probably a much nicer awakening than anyone who was here would likely expect, no?" Sho added, appreciating how he could speak without a hitch in this more feminine tongue.

Eyes remaining narrowed, he kept a close on the Bastemon as it jumped back, waiting to see if it would attack. Rather then attacking, the cat-woman-thing began talking, asking him to calm down and that it's name was Sho, a spirit user. Spirit user? ...Wait, that sounds familiar. Yeah, yeah, it's those humans that can turn into digimon using some spirit thing and a device they carry around. ...Shit what's a human? He knew the word, as well as the fact that they could be spirit wielders or something called a tamer, but that didn't help him a whole lot in know what exactly a human was. Pulling his attention away from his thoughts and back to the cat, who seemed to be going on about how she could go where ever she wanted, which didn't exactly answer his question, but considering how the cat was acting he'd doubt he'd get a straight answer, so fuck it.
dissipating the flame in his hand, he fell back onto his rear, rubbing his head in hopes of getting rid of the dull ache. "Yeah, we're strangers, hence my reaction and questioning. And this place shouldn't even look the way it does, assuming my brain is working right and I'm remembering correctly." He gave the cat a scowl as it brought up the idea of this being a 'good' awakening. "Well, I wake up in the middle of a place that should be pleasant but looks like it's been annihilated from some battle, no memory of how I got here. AND on top of that no memories aside from my name, for some reason having knowledge about a bunch of digimon, and knowledge on the various locations of the world, so I wouldn't exactly call it a good awakening." He remained silent for a few moments before letting out a sigh. "Look, this hasn't exactly been the best day so far, so I'm...sorry. And the name is Caligo."

Nothing about laying in a field of scorched grasses and uprooted earth seemed in any way preferable, especially if such an event was recent. But while Sho let his instincts guide his fears, for now he had a pretty peculiar case in front of him. A textbook amnesiac...While he would doubt even his snidely cut resting expression would pass here, it was a surprise to only see one here. If it was even recent, why was he the only one here? There was something decidedly surgical about this place. Something as dissonant as the complete peace in these disturbed grounds.
"I wouldn't put much stock into that, from where I'm standing your day just started." Sho still put on a more relaxed and careless tone, not entirely sold on every word the mite said. "Good to see you in one piece, Caligo." Sho greeted in a silkier tone, extending a single claw for him to shake. There had to be at least something to this place that be knew, something that he could try to learn from someone who'd supposedly retained information past his own personal memories. As a digital being...that should be completely odd.
Unless they came with some kind of factory backup.
"Do you know the name of this place?" A simple question, one at least worth a shot if he was the straight shooter he seemed to be. And if not, there'd certainly be enough that he'd remember that would lead him to the history of this place. That and playing Sho Tsuginaga: Cat Detective for the first time while in this form sounded more like some nonsensical joke of fate to come upon scenes of mystery.
As long as he could close and eyes and create a musing purr about it, Sho didn't exactly think he minded. "Do you think you're the only one out here? Any friends or anything...?" Sho continued, looking around at the landscape with more disbelief than would ordinarily be necessary.

The impmon couldn't help but let out a scoff at the bastemon's view of his day just starting. "I highly doubt that is the case, but sure, lets roll with that." He then leaned back as the cat held out a claw towards him, causing his eyes to widen in surprise for a moment before relaxing. Looking between the cat's face and the claw held out to him, he slowly lifted a hand and took a hold of it, lightly shaking. "Er, yeah, thanks, I think."
As the cat, no, Sho, asked him about if he knew what this place was named he closed his eyes and rubbed his head, thinking. "Okay...if I'm right we are in the Network Plains, which is just outside...Terminus City? Yeah, but looks like something happened here. Maybe a fight? Don't think it was all that recent though. Hell, who knows how much of the plains is affected."
He then focused on Sho again, watching her lood around, mulling over her question on if he thought there was anyone else or if Caligo had any friends here, which made the Impmon roll his eyes. "I'm pretty sure if there was anyone I know out here as well they'd have found me already. As for if there is anyone else out here. Well, I guess the best answer is a maybe? The plains sit right outside what is suppose to be the largest city here, so it wouldn't surprise me if you people coming and going through these plains as they travel to and from the city. But then again seeing how this place looks I'm not too sure anyone'd want to be coming out here. In fact..." He slowly got to his feet, looking around to see if he could spot anything nearby. "It'd probably be best to head into the city or leave the plains, I'm not sure when this happened but I personally wouldn't want to be around if someone or something that did this comes back."

A light swish of his tails was the only signal to his turn in each and every direction, trying to scan for anything they could head for specifically without being turned into light speckles of code on these peaceful place. After returning his gaze to Caligo, his conversation starter was a small pensive mewling. "A fight seems to be right...But you were the only one left behind in the middle of all of it. That's a tad bit unlucky, fella." Sho shrugged, wondering how they could get better details about the place.
"So, you don't have your memories, and I seem to be the only person who found you so far. Hmmrow...What's the last thing you remember? Just to make sure, y'know." Sho tried to get everything straight before he began strutting off in some other direction. "I'll try to get us to Terminus City, but I also wanna find out why this happened. Maybe figure out how you lost your memories too..." He mused as the feminine-feline began to waltz off further at a pace where Caligo would be able to catch up. A nice change from the whole marathon Sho was putting himself beforehand.
Through the fields he went, trying to see if anything other than themselves left tracks here. If it was recent it would have to, right? And the damage would be distinctive, as clear to his eyes as things made out of written words. Soon enough he'd have to learn how to read the Digital World like a book. As he turned around to the mite again an idea popped into his catty mind, retrieving his D-Tector gingerly and softly pressing through the functions until he got to a scanner. Hesitantly, he moved it towards him and activated it.
Impmon: Purification Unneeded
So it did give him this kind of information. With only a hip little "Neat..." Sho turned around once again, continuing.

After looking around for a bit he couldn't help but come to the conclusion that him being here (least he thinks he was here when it started) and actually surviving the battle was pretty damn lucky. He could see that some of the terrain had been uplifted, likely someone having smashed something into the ground. He could also see that the grass had been burnt away or cut short, energy based attacks and weapons seemed to have been involved in the fight. Hearing Sho's comment on being unlucky, Caligo couldn't help but let out a laugh. "I don't know if I'm more lucky or unlucky, the fact that I may have been here and somehow survived the battle is amazing in and of itself. Cause if I had to guess, these guys didn't exactly hold back in this fight."
Aaaaand of course he had to bring back up his memories, the one thing he was trying to not think about. Rubbing his head as the headache started coming back, he addressed Sho in an irritated tone. "Look, I know you're just tryin to help, but I. Don't. Remember. Anything. Just...can we drop this? Right now I'm trying to think of anything else but that, cause I really don't want to fall into a panic attack." Glancing over at the cat he noticed it was pointing some sort of device at him, didn't look like a weapon though. After a few moments he heard a 'neat' come from them as it put the device back into some pocket. With a shake of his head and a sigh, he turned back around to continue but came to a stop, his eyes widening slightly. "Hey, uh, think I found something." Before him was a large crater, the inside of it charred and blackened, though it looked like there was golden residual glowing in certain areas. "...Don't know about you, but I don't think I wanna find whoever did this."

Steps flowing, Sho continued to follow his path along the plains, following Caligo through the uneven grasses to stop before the crater. He halts on a dime, further veiling his face with his claws as he looks upon the shining lining of the displaced ground. Its unending shimmering was almost a joyful sight to the Bastemon's eyes but at this point, it's anything but a treasure they see. "What an oddity...Whatever did this was so powerful that their attack is still showing such a brilliant light!" Sho couldn't help but shiver his voice in awe. He cleared his throat behind his claws, hoping to distance himself from that emotion.
Sho motioned to even prod at the energy, but he stayed his hand, unable to remove the bashful half-grin on his face. "That being said, I wouldn't want to be near this thing either...Ke-heh." He blithely added, beginning to continue through the plains with his normal gait. "Let's go somewhere less shiny, Caligo-go." Sho murmured back to him as they went on further.
Panic was something they were both haplessly trying to avoid.
"I won't bring anything else up. I promise, fella. I really do." Adopting a slightly more genuine tone with his still silvery voice, Sho tried to affirm himself. He could feel it now; it was him talking. It was enough to put his own mind at ease, but now he had to focus on how to put his smaller companion in that comfort too. He had to sift through whatever he had in his mental repertoire to see if he could somehow worm his way into any of this. Then again, thinking about that irritated position was still making him mewl and murmur under his breath.
"Do you have any questions for me? I mean, it is only fair. An eye for an eye, right?" Sho suggested, quickening his speech and bringing his nerves to the surface.

Caligo simply stood there staring at the bright lines in the crater, he slowly gave a nod. Whatever performed this attack was strong, hell, it was much stronger then Caligo and the spirit user were. Based on how that energy residue was glowing such a brilliant bright light he had to guess it was an attack from a holy digimon. Seriously, how the hell do I know this, but I can't remember a damn thing about my own past? What he did know was the longer he was standing here staring at the crater and the residue within, the greater a feeling of dread was growing in his gut. He simply gave another nod, agreeing with the idea of not being anywhere near the thing that did this.
Rather then react in annoyance to being called 'Caligo-go', he couldn't help but let out a snort in amusement. Really? Was that gonna be his nickname now? Well, didn't matter. He was glad that the cat promised not to bring up his memories anymore. "Yeah, thanks."It was a short response, but it was in a genuine tone none the less. When Sho asked if Caligo had any questions for him, The impmon took note of the nervous tone in his voice, in fact, he noticed for the last few minutes a change in the cat. No longer was it walking in that swaying, waltzy style, no longer did it's tone sound aloft and relaxed. "Well, I suppose my question is are you alright? You aren't exactly acting all aloft and relaxed like you were not too long ago."
Just then he came to a halt, feeling something wet under his left foot as it came down. Slowly looking down, he saw that part of his foot was now sitting in a puddle of red liquid. He didn't know how he knew or why it was the first thing to come, but he immediately thought 'blood'. Human blood. How the hell did he know it was human blood? Scratch that, he didn't want to know.
"Uh, hey, think I just stepped in more evidence." His voice was quiet, eyes wide as he continued staring at his foot and the blood.

Callous was just one of the things Sho had crossed off his list. Just one of the reasons he made a disheartening chuckle at Caligo's awareness of how his mood swung as easily as his tails while they travelled. "It's not every day you find some sleepyhead dozing off in a battlefield...Places like this make me feel so jittery anyway, so I'm glad I even have someone here." Sho explained in an almost sleepy tone, trying to sound as calm as possible. With the kind of hair-raising energies they were coming across, that was becoming harder and harder to do.
He just couldn't let all of that get to him while they were crossing the plains. Caligo stopping in front of him wasn't the greatest help in that. Neither was that rising, coppery smell that only grew stronger as he neared once again. Traipsing on his own claws in several moving bounds, he reached Caligo, ears twitching. "What have you found now Caligo-go?" Sho tried to chuckle like he was executing some grand scheme to sneak up on him for greater hijinks, but his own senses felt something different. What his claws plinked into was something more genuinely stone cold. And it was...
Wet.
Sho stifled his own interested mewling. Turning it into a whimpering shriek of a meow, he covered his mouth with his claws and looking down at the red liquid. The liquid that could come from the only things that bled around here; Humans. Narrowing his sharp eyes, something like this was harder not to question. And it wasn't just the fact that the sight of blood had never created something other than fear within him. This meant that some human was involved in this somehow.
"Caligo...I'd love to ask you something...What's the most powerful thing that could've caused this that you can think of right now?" Sho posed his query in an enunciated voice that conveyed some odd joy looking at the puddle of blood. Something he'd hoped to catch before it left his mouth.

Caligo slowly pulled his foot out of the pool of blood, eyes still wide as he stared at the liquid dripping from it. He then brought it back down onto the dry ground and began to wipe his foot against it, smearing blood across it as he did so. It won't get all of it off, but that'll have to do for now. His ears twitched as Sho let out some sort of shrieking meow. Well, looks like this person isn't immune to fear, or is it shock? Hell, I can't tell.
What did surprise Caligo though was not Sho's next question, but the tone of his voice when he asked it. He sounded...happy, perhaps even excited? Shit, was the cat getting excited over the idea of fighting whatever did this? Whatever it was he sure wasn't comfortable hearing the cat's tone sound like that. Still, he brought a hand up and pinched the bridge of his nose, slowly exhaling. "Hell, there are a lot of different types of digimon that could do this, probably a mega or a super mega. However, if that big ass crater is anything to go off of, some sort of holy digimon was involved in the fighting based on that residual energy there. Beyond that though I have no idea, what kind of holy digimon? Was it a group or single digimon fighting another digimon or group?" He then pulled his hand away, eyes narrowed and a frown on his face. "The better question is WHY would they fight here? It ain't like Holy digimon just go out and find someone or something to fight, they at least usually have a reason." He then looked around the battlefield once more, starting to feel uneasy upon knowing this. "I really don't think we should stay here, if we're in the network plains we should start looking for Terminus city and get there as soon as we can."

Sho burst out, simply unravelling from his form in an abrupt instance as he stepped away from the bloody puddle. The boy, in his curling hair and clean cut wear, still managed to look bedraggled as he stepped out into the fields and made sure his glasses were kept on his face. Out of all the things, that feeling completely dispelled whatever connection he had. The blood was too much. "Hngh...This whole thing has me feeling sickly." Sho moaned, shaking his head and turning back to Caligo with pursed lips, just trying to put a lock of his hair back into place.
"We should really move out if it looks this recent..." He went on beginning to trot away from that crater at a record pace, trying to keep down how he felt the sick rising in his throat. He would've been all about just rotting off right there while he thought about it before a single downward glance caught him in his tracks. "Oh, wait! This must look very weird to you. I promise I'm not some weirdo, really!" Sho waved his hands in front of himself trying to explain his situation with as much exasperation as humanly possible.
He approached the Impmon once more, feeling like he'd just taken his first step out of a comfy bed in ages, half wobbling on his knees. "This stuff goes after my mind, really. Just don't think about it too much. We still really do need to head somewhere near Terminus." He nodded along with it, moving forward at a bit of a slower pace so he could regain his bearings. Everything that surrounded him seemed to scream power, but strangely only the kind of power that Caligo spoke of...
"There had to be a reason...What kind of reason?" Sho put all the colours of this event into his mind. What could his eyes really parse from this setting...

Well, this sure as hell wasn't what he expected. Staring wide eyed and mouth agape at Sho, he had just watched as the kid practically burst forth from the digimon, almost like one of those horror movies he'd heard that humans like to watch. Not only that, but the kid was a guy, A GUY! He had been sitting here the whole time thinkin that Sho was some female human based on the digimon's form. Like, he wasn't trying to be rude, but he had kinda always assumed that male spirit users mainly ended up with Masculine digimon, where female ones ended up with feminine digimon. Clearly he was wrong. Wait, oh boy, the kid wasn't looking too good. Shaking himself from his stupor he gave the kid a nod. "Yeah, we should get movin."
As he was about to start walking to follow Sho, he stopped as the kid turned around and started waving his hand, saying how this looked weird and how he isn't a weirdo. Caligo raised his own hand as if to quiet him, shaking his head. "Nah, it's fine. To be honest I was kinda expecting to see you turn back into a human at some point, even if that was a bit violent. If anything, the thing that surprised me most was seeing you were a guy. Not trying to cause offense or anything, but I had expected a female human, based on the fact you were a Bastemon, to appear." He then raised an eyebrow, slight concern showing on his face as the kid said that this stuff 'goes after his mind'. "Wait, you tellin me the digimon who's form you were in is influencing your mind? That...that doesn't sound good." No, no it didn't sound good at all. If what this kid was saying about that digimon being able to affect his mind was true, who knows what kinda stuff that thing could make this kid do. For this kid's sake though, he'd drop it for now. "Right, yeah, we better start heading toward the city." He followed behind the kid, keeping an eye on him in case something happened to him and the Impmon needed to jump in and help.
Shaking his head as the kid question what the reason was for the damage, he spoke. "Honestly, whatever the reason for their attack was we're likely never gonna know. The battle has passed and no one was left."

Walking to Terminus City was the new main objective here. Not finding the cause of some grand battle, or trying to pry into the memories of a wayward Impmon. Though Sho would sigh because he could only find sense outside of the body of a Bastemon, he walked on because it was the only way they were going to progress any further anyway. His eyes were willing between open and closed, his heart was skipping a few beats that Sho couldn't feel in his ears. His normal body felt so...terrible.
He'd thought human frailty was a distant memory in the body of that limber cat-woman.
"I think that's the first time I've transformed in front of someone. Gah, with the whole female thing...and being in someone else's body. It feels weirder coming back than it does changing in the first place." Sho sputtered in slight exhaustion, the days of being that limber cat had messed up the rhythm of his breathing. It sped up and scratched out slowly like a running, panting dog. "But that makes logical sense does it? I mean, if my spirit is supposed to be the center of my being, it should take the form of all my qualities personafied. "I have some masculine qualities don't I?" He crooked a smug and spiraling smile, thinking about white knights and shining armour types.
But he knew that was ridiculous. Any other solution would be just as likely to put him in a more feminine form than that. "Maybe it's just spmething deep within that I don't have the wherewithal to recognize. Like a warrior of bravado being written in a feminine voice. Theres always some way to tell." Sho shrugged, discarding his more calculating tone as they split further away from the damaged plains. "I'm just wondering what these Digimon are...I mean, I can feel their thoughts in my head. And sometimes when I speak, I wonder who said it in my mind... It's just that hard to tell." Sho lamented, continuing on with Caligo.
