As the night went on, Siris did manage to find a little sleep, sparse as it was. Soon, he'd feel a tug at his foot and he'd look down to see his little sister, bright eyed and bushy tailed. He'd give a smile as his blinked a little harder than usual, trying to shake of the grogginess of being brought back into the waking world;
"Not as well as I would have liked, but alright for the most part." He didn't want to admit that he cried through most of the night and feared that demon in his head would come back for more. Moreover, he just wanted to get the day going as it was;
"Where's dad?" he asked, rubbing his eyes again. No doubt he'd have something planned today, he seemed like that kind of Mon. But then again, perhaps his work might keep his busy and they'd be left to their own devices? Siris was interested in learning some more history on these people that wanted him so badly, and maybe a better understand could help him keep his mind off these dreams. Either way, though, he'd have to tell his dad about them.
As Syre would no doubt lead on, Siris would be thinking to himself. What did that dream mean? What was that... thing? And what did it mean 'This is your heritage'? Was Mikemon not his father, or K his mother? His heritage seemed pretty clear to him!

"Aw... well, hopefully it gets better!" Syre didn't pry - after all, it was natural to not sleep as well so far away from your natural environment! Thankfully, it didn't seem like it took long for Siris to get up, and the BlackGatomon was used to Siris' more 'fidgety' attitude by this point.
Climbing up on the couch to sit next to him, Syre's ear flicked at the question. "This early, probably out helping with breakfast or something. Though he said he wanted to try and spend a good part of today just trying to, well, 'get to know you'." She gave a chuckle: "Well, I mean its not every day an older brother just drops in out of nowhere."
That said, it meant that, at least for now, it was just the two of them! "So... what was it like out in the woods and stuff?" The sheltered cat that she was, Syre was curious! Were there monsters and beasts that Siris had to run from... or was he always this 'shaky'?

With a nod of understanding, the young fox moved over as he watched his sister climb onto the couch. Breakfast? They made that here? He always assumed that was something younger digimon made up to justify staying somewhere. 'Unclaimed' Digimon were a commodity to communities of major cities as they required them to run the most basic of needs. One his friends simply delivers food around Terminus now. It wasn't the most ambitious thing, but his friend says he had a place to sleep and meals as payment for his work.
Siris would have told them he would have preferred to be unconstrained, that he belonged to no-one. Yet here he was... living with his father and sister. As he was spacing out, thinking about his friends, his little sister chimed in a question; How were the woods?
That was a tough one to answer. Wilderness made people deseperate, and he was quickly roped up with some group that at first seemed friendly and comforting, but only wanted him to use as a tool to hurt others, all while keeping him in the dark. He fought most of them off, but the leader, a large beetle like Digimon, made sure his rebellion was quickly staunched. But he also saw kindness and compassion.
"It's... dangerous, I guess would be the easiest way to put it. A lot of Digimon want to take advantage of you and some just want to kill you. Data is a valuable thing! I ran into some group that I thought were friends, but they had bad intentions and, well I ran away."
He gave a nervous smile, trying to not focus on that as he turned the tables and asked a question of his own;
"So what about you? How's it been here in the Library?"

It was only natural for Siris to ask - she was curious, and the Renamon honestly looked a bit 'skittish', almost as if he wasn't naturally used to being indoors! For how 'wild' he seemed, the answer seemed to catch the BlackGatomon off-guard. Scary? Digimon trying to take advantage of him? Digimon lying about being his friend?
The cat's ears laid flat down, the BlackGatomon giving a sigh. "Maybe that's why dad keeps such a close eye on me when we go out for walks... even you were a bit scary, Siris." Still, she was able to break the tension with a nervous chuckle - and as for the library? The cat's eyes brightened, but... well, she held herself back.
It was all too tempting to just say it was great, to start listing off all the humans and their quirks and their pampering of her, but would have that honestly set the mood well for the place? "Well... gotta say, its been pretty nice," she started, "though dad's trying to get me to see the outside a bit more. Says it can't all be board games and books... I guess?"
Sheesh, sheltered kitty! But at that, a familiar chuckle broke by the entrance, Dr. Mikemon giving a small chuckle at his two kids. "Bright and early again, Syre? You should let your brother sleep in if he wants."
Syre gave a huff, as the 'dad' walked in with a smile on his face. "Doin' alright? How about a little spar in an hour or so?"

Siris felt a little odd putting his sister in a way she had to think about the dangerous of the world... but if she knew, she could be prepared. He reached to pat her on her back to ease her tension, but stopped short and decided against it when she perked up about his question of the library. It was almost as if she wanted to go crazy and say all the great things about the place she called home, but decided to keep it a little more tame.
"Well, I think a medium is ok? Like sometimes go outside, but also come back and read too!" It was more of a comforting affirmation than a follow up question, though he wanted to ask about humans and such, he figured a little exploration likely would answer those questions.
His pointed ears shot up at the sound of his father, and a smile grew across his face, though he tried to hide it! His tail swished to and fro as well, a clear indication of his excitement. He teased his daughter and Siris held up both paws;
"Nono, it's fine. I was up anyway." He didn't want to admit the truth of his nightmares just yet. But that would come in time. His ears folded a bit as he heard his father ask how he was doing and then lead into sparring, which he didn't really like to do;
"Erm... Had some awful dreams last night. Also, I'm not a good fighter. I only really know how to run!"
With the nervousness again, so came the habitual hand fidgeting and looking away. Maybe the fox was being modest... or maybe he was hiding something!

Right, everything in moderation? Sheesh, Mikemon really was Siris' dad, going right for those 'comforting' answers. Puffing up her cheeks, the BlackGatomon playfully let the point slide - or, rather, before she could get another word in, dad showed up!
"That so? Well, guess you gotta be an early bird in the woods." Scratching the back of his head, the Mikemon simply gave a shrug, not thinking too much about that. At the second question, though, it seemed that Siris really didn't want to spar - between the bad dreams, K's fidgeting, and the words against the spar, Mikemon gave a nod. "Bad dreams, huh... well, I guess the weather was tearing through last night. No worries about that, of course."
With that, he pointed over his shoulder: "C'mon, I brought breakfast up!"
Well, if there was one thing to appreciate from the humans running this place - and really, there was much more than just this - it would be the food! A few of them, at least, had a good handle on the kitchen, and it wasn't hard to find a stack of pancakes or the like for the taking - at least, in the morning. Syre's reaction was more muted, having been used to this, but maybe Siris wouldn't be used to something so sweet in the morning.
Still, at least there was enough to eat! At the table in that same common room, the group would likely get right through that meal - Mikemon managing to get another question out towards Siris:
"Alright, well, anything in particular you'd like to do? I was just throwin' out ideas - but, really, I just want to hang out with ya!"
The cat was trying, at least!

With his father deciding against the spar, Siris felt a little ashamed. This was his home, after all;
"W-We can still spar, if you want, dad!" he said, fidgeting a bit. His ears did perk when he spoke of the dream. Storms could mess with his dreams like that? Moreover, one so vividly and frightening?
"It was... so real. Things said and monsters shown, I could barely sleep after-" he caught himself, waving off the nightmare that would no doubt leave others to worry. The last thing he wanted was his father to have to now figure how what was wrong with his new son. He was so happy about this relationship, to him, it was fragile and any misstep would destroy it. Despite that likely not being the case.
But his worries went away when the meal laid before him. The sheer volume of the food was enough to make him smile alone, and given his appetite, he could eat it all himself! All kinds of treats and food were just... there. No work for it, no fighting for it. It was just there. He looked to his father, as though asking 'I can eat this?' due to him not being used to just eating and not forging or scavenging for it!
As he was eating, his father raised up a question. What DID he want to do? It was so focused on this dream and this food, he didn't think about the rest of the day. He nodded and looked up from his third plate of pancakes;
"I... want to meet a human, if that's okay." he said, slowly eating another piece of his pancake as though he wasn't supposed to ask that! Even still, they seemed like the hottest topic in his head.
"I... was looking a round a bit last night in the library and found somethings. If we could go back and look as well?" he asked with the same folded ears!
Mikemon would be busy, for sure!

That bad, huh? Not thinking too much about the spar, the cat briefly considered the context of Siris' dream... but really, it was probably the storm? "I see... I'm here to talk about it, if you want. Just let me know if it crops up again, alright?" He let it slide for now, not wanting to sour such a good morning.
And what a good morning it was - pancakes! As Syre ate, Mikemon gave an affirming nod towards the Renamon, letting him know that yes, it was okay to just eat. Heck, Syre had already dug in, and Mikemon was already making good headway through his own plate. Hearing Siris' request, he gave a shrug. "Sure, that shouldn't be too hard - everyone was excited to see Syre, so having someone say hi should be pretty easy. And... you've been around the Library?"
"Hm..." Syre gave a shrug, and Mikemon nodded: "I mean, of course - anything you want to read, go ahead, just make sure it gets put back. Some of this stuff was hard to get together..."

As he finished up, it was no surprise Siris made a bit of mess, both on the table and on his face, no table manners in the woods, after all. It seemed Siris already knew what Mikemon would say as he looked to his father and nodded, understanding the rules laid before him. Luckily for the librarian dad, Siris has returned the books where he had found them. Though he went around the library, he did so for a short time.
He turned his head, looking at his empty plate; ”These humans... they aren’t... erm... dangerous are they?”
From what he heard of humans, they were a bit on the violent side. With Digimon with them joining their ideals and often depending on humans to basically exist. He had never met one, after all, so he only had rumors of the other ‘wild’ Digimon to base that off of. The last thing he’d want is a fight broken from no-where!
With that, Siris would push off the table and look to his father, seeing what he wanted to do next. It was strange to the young fox! Having someone to look up to and take care of him? It was an odd feeling. Though his time in the woods was comparatively short, it was all he knew. He did run with a gang for a bit, but he wasn’t ready to bring that up! But now with his father in the picture, it would be a different matter of leading!
As they would eventually clean up the table and move on, Siris kept close to his father. As though if he would be left behind if he didn’t keep up. As he kept up, he looked around the library with the same ‘scanning’ eyes he gave everywhere else. He had been in here earlier, but now it was day, and it looked... well... night and day!
”So why do you have humans here, dad? I was told most Digimon were... wary of them?”
It was clear wherever he learned about humans, he had a very one sided idea! But he was curious, at least! He looked to Syre as she no doubt followed;
”How... are they? The humans?”
Very curious!

Oof... lack of etiquette was definitely a consequence of a forest upbringing. For the moment, Mikemon reserved his comments on it, even giving an occasional glance towards Syre to do the same. That said, he did offer a hand towel to Syre to help clear up, his ear twitching at the question. "Oh, the humans here aren't dangerous at all. Really, they aren't too much different than Digimon when you get right down to it."
Mikemon wasn't foreign to Digimon biases against humans, though Syre was! The kitten couldn't help but give a small laugh: "They aren't dangerous at all - the ones here are all nice!" At least towards her, after all! It wouldn't be long until they cleared off the table - Siris maybe getting a hint to help at that point - and as the topic carried on, he gave a shrug. "I mean, this is a human base, for research of the Digital World. The only 'wary' part, if you could even call them that, is that I'm working for them. Just wanted to help em along, you know?" He grinned... but sheesh, so curious on the topic!
"They're... sometimes foolhardy, but smart, brave, and well-intentioned. In all I like the group we had here." With that, he'd give a light elbow to the Renamon's side. "You're quite curious about 'em, aren't you. You have a bad run-in or something?"

The question of the humans and Siris was not a matter of conflict, just rumors and hearsay. Siris had never actually met a human, so his ideas of them were... stunted when compared to his sibling and father. He would give a small shake of his head;
”No! I’ve never seen one, either. Not even in the village!”
He leaned in his back foot, deciding to tell his father about the gang he was roped into;
”I, uh, was with this group who I thought meant well! I did. They didn’t like humans, Cherrymon didn’t like them either, and... Well, I’ve never met a human who could tell me otherwise or... show me I guess?”
He gave himself a seldom nod. Biased toward humans seemed commonplace to him, but now it felt unwarranted and unjustified. Part of his mind knew this already, he just wanted to know more about something he understood little of;
”This is a human base? I thought humans only were allowed to do that in their world? Because it’s so dirty?”
More confusions and misunderstanding it seemed! The fox seemed more excited as time went on, however! To meet one of these and really learn? It was one thing for his father to tell him! But to see it?
”S-sorry if I seem a little anxious. I’ve just never really seen one!”
Maybe now the fox can learn something for himself!

Sheesh - that bad, huh? Both Syre's and Mikemon's ears twitched at the next bit of the story... a Cherrymon, leading some sort of group? "Mm... you mean, like the tree? Was the group that far in the woods?"
Syre's curious question aside, Mikemon let out a sigh. "Some humans do bad things, and some Digimon do bad things. Unfortunately, its the bad stories that tend to be a lot louder. Its the same for them, too - humans don't know a lot about us, either." Spinning that point right on top of Siris' head, Mikemon would give a nod. That second bit only proved his point:
"Hm... most of the humans around here clean up after themselves pretty well. Honestly, I'd say you were the messy one this morning, bro!" She gave a laugh, Mikemon allowing a bit of a sibling tease. Of course he was anxious, but really, how couldn't he be? "For now, I do have a bit of work to get through. Shall I show you to the books proper, or do you want to take your own look around?"
Maybe he'd run into a human while he was on his walk! Actually, that might be a bit awkward - though Syre would be around, right?

A bit of a jump at the nudge and a folding of his ears, Siris turned to look at his younger sister;
”Messy...? I don’t understand!”
In all honesty, the fox had no bearing or actual understanding of edict. While the joke might have been funny to Syre, it flew clean over Siris’ head! As his father asked about Cherry leasing the gang, Siris raised his arms to protest;
”Nono! Cherry was the one who protected us in the Village! She didn’t like humans much...”
He sighed, thinking back to her conversing with them and sharing her opinions, much to Swanmon’s dismay. Still, Siris understood his father’s point and decided to heed it.
With a bit of a sinking feeling at hearing his father had to return to his work, Siris accept it with a reluctant nod. He just met his father and didn’t really want to leave his side right now, but he knew that work needed to be done. With the obvious hallmark his mother gifted him, Siris fidgeted as he spoke:
”It’s okay... I’ll wander around myself! I-if that’s okay.” he said, with his ears folding against his head as a pup might to it’s parent. He figured this would be much easier to handle letting him go than trying to stick around a little longer!
With a very sheepish wave to his father’s eventual exit. Siris would turn to explore the library with or without Syre. With a few short steps, he found where he left off on Luminas legends and myths.
Or he would have, as he looked up, he spotted a human! Looking at books as he dived out of the way and would pull his sister to him!
”Syre! It’s a human!”
He peered over the bookshelf, thinking he was unseen!
”What do I do?” he asked in a loud whisper.
Awkward indeed!

And thus, once more, it was just Siris and Syre again. To the BlackGatomon, simply wandering through the halls of the Library itself seemed silly - but she supposed her brother was just curious! "Heh... wish I could give you a bit of a tour myself, but I don't know too much about it myself..."
Well, that was more-or-less true, but she knew where stuff was. And it was because of this that she knew where the 'books lived', easily leading Siris down a few halls to... to...
Hooo boy. Seeing a guest in the room, Syre was about to give a wave and say something towards the glasses-wearing man, but she was quickly shunted aside - pulled tight against the Renamon as she was pulled in! The man gave a glance over, blinking, scratching his head as he saw the cat struggling in the fox's arms. "Um..."
"Let go, I got this!" With a low whisper, she would pull herself away, and give a nod to the man, straightening out her fur! "Eheh... sorry about that! You must have wandered off the main line - if you don't have anyone escorting you, please keep yourself to the ground floor, alright?"
"Oh, sorry, I guess I missed the sign." With a smile and an embarrassed laugh, he set the book back in place, and made his way back into the hall - to make his way right downstairs. To that, Syre gave a relieved sigh, and turned to face Siris: "You can't just flip out like that, Si... you'll scare people!"

Post by Siris on Jul 17, 2018 7:38:40 GMT
Maybe he wasn't as stealthy as he assumed! With a sigh of somewhat relief, he watched as Syre managed to tell him to leave and he did as she commanded! The dumbfounded fox looked over to her as she told him to not 'flip' out.
"What was I supposed to do? They're so... well strange looking! I wasn't sure how to act!"
The shyness was still there, but marred with a bit of defensiveness. The creatures known as human to him were still anomolies and without proper experience to them, he would likely be very shaky or even scared. Akin to what one might see in the wild of the human worlds, Siris had heard the they had other creatures that co-existed with them but they weren't humans? Some even had those creatures as pets, but not partners or friends? Truly the Human World was a strange place!
"Then, what do I do? When I see one?"
She had much more insight than he on this, and she likely grew up around them. This was a 'human base' after all, so she no doubt had seen them a great deal! Maybe she even had a few friends who were humans.
As he'd listen, eventually he sit back on the couch and draw the piece of paper his father gave to him earlier, with a quick glance and a look around; he figured out the numbers. He stood up, looking around as he saw the references and lists, then with a gentle pull, he gathered several books. Some where about the Knights of the Concord, others were about Jesmon and heroes of the Skies, and one was labeled 'The Disgraced: A comprehensive list of traitors to the Skies and their allies.'
He figured he'd start there, he learned with that gang that the best way to figure someone was learn who betrayed them. That way, he could learn his enemies of a group he might join, what not to do if he joined or have allies if he became their enemy. He held the book up to Syre and gave a toothy smile;
"Dad says you like books! Wanna help?"
He'd flip through, looking at different Knights who were at their peak and at their punishment. Some of the illustrations were disturbing, with Digimon being executed or beaten. Out of the Disgraced, every single one he read had died in the arms of their captors. But there was one who not only escaped, but fought off his fellow brother's in arms and caused a lot of trouble for not just the city of Luminas, but the Skies as a whole. The book kept referring to him simply as one word:
Ronin
