It started off like any other day for Isla, scouring the city for the best photo spots. Dancing around the pedestrians with her camera occupying her hands, the camera started to beep, a red light indicating that the battery was depleting. Once the beeping was obvious she dived out the way into a crook between 2 stores and groaned.
"No way, I just charged this thing!" she groaned, sliding her backpack off her back looking for her spare charger, "Where is this thing? I know I packed it, what is with today," Isla sighed, giving up hunting.
Zipping up her bag she threw it back so it sat comfortably, scanning the camera she blinked with confusion, "Wait, you're fine now? I swear you just told me the battery was dying."
Thinking nothing off it she went off again, back to her photography adventures, snagging photos of the advertisement signs and some of the passersby's she could talk to. For the next few hours there was no complaints coming from the camera, it was like the incident had never happened. Photos were took, names and flyers exchanged, to her there was nothing better doing her favorite thing while promoting her business. Eventually it became lunch time as indicated by her growling stomach, her high energy came with a price.
Isla pulled out her phone and looked for a local place for food and drink. Following the map's instructions on her phone she found herself at a small quiet coffee shop, she took her order and waited for it to be delivered to the booth she decided to sit at before deciding to work on editing some of the photos she took. Pulling her laptop out her bag she quickly booted it up as she sipped at the warm drink she ordered. Once it booted up she quickly connected her camera to the computer to be brought with an error as she tried to drag the photos to photoshop.
' .dgmn file is not compatible with photoshop, try converting it first!'
"Excuse me?" her head cocked slightly with confusion. Opening the camera folder she scanned through each individual file until she came across the 'dgmn' file. Not even considering it a virus she double tapped it and on the screen appeared a digiegg, a red counter underneath it.
'00:15:00'
'00:14:59'
Her eyes widened with fear and confusion, "No this laptop just lost its warranty please don't break," she whined. She finished her meal and was quick to shut her laptop and put it all back packed away, "I know I still have a USB to erase viruses."
After quickly thanking the staff for the meal she took a mad dash home, "I can fix this I know I can, I have to be able to fix it. This is my work this is my job I can't let things go down hill now, not now!" pressing the button at the crossing she waited for the beeping indication to cross, once the beeping was heard she was quick to go on her race home. The run home felt longer than normal, she never felt anything take so long.
Around the corner from the apartment she had in the busy neighbor hood she got a buzz from her phone, yanking it out the pocket she froze, "What does this even mean?"
'Unknown Number: 10 minutes left'
"10 minutes until what?" she bit her lip, she didn't want to know instead she proceeded to her apartment and locked the door behind her once she got there. Isla was straight to her computer desk where her desktop was sat already on with the exact same screen. The same egg staring her right in the face.
'00:08:45'
Instantly she was on her phone checking the forums for some help, looking for something that would help her and instead had to make a post of her own.
' I have had a strange file on my camera under the name of 'dgmn' after opening it there is a egg on my screen with a count down, any one have any clue on what I can do? Anything? I'm at my wits end!' . Then she flopped on the computer chair, the adrenaline starting to crash from her system, "What have I done?"

Noah sat at his computer, staring blankly at the screen as he processed recent events. He looked down at his hand to find his ... Digivice, that's what they called it. It was an odd device, almost the size of a mobile phone with a small square screen on it. He didn't really understand any of the features on it or what to do it with, other than it was some important tool for him and his partner, DemiMeramon. Noah had his own Digimon, a type of computer monster from an entire different world. A whole other realm that was computerized or something. It was quite a lot to process, even now. It wasn't until a notification on his computer that he snapped out of his daze like state. The notification was from his chat app, he was part of several groups or servers as they were called in the app, this notification however was of a friend going on and offline almost each second without missing a beat. The rate was too inconsistent to be a connection issue and even if it was the most logical thing to do in that case would be to restart the computer or even the router, but there was only a second pause between each notification.
Clicking on the notification it came up with a screen to message the friend, it was a person who Noah had 'met' online who was into photography although Noah had no real way of determining whether or not this person was male or female. He was a bit skeptical when it came to those things so he treated everyone as neutral. Noah ended up sending, his friend whom had named themselves 'CameraGirl', a message. Hey, what's up? He got no response. Noah sent another message; Are you good? What's with the disconnect? And this time, he got response. Noah blinked almost in disbelief as the response was a bunch of different symbols; numbers, letters, special characters that kept repeating in each message that he was now, for lack of a better word, being spammed with. There was no way that 'CameraGirl' was sending this. It couldn't be ... Could it? Was this a Digimon again? It was coincidence, surely?!
Are you okay? Do you need help??

That's what the number on the screen was as she could hear the 'blooping' sound of notifications happening behind the virus screen, the white striped egg wriggling every now and again almost looking like it was due to hatch, but it was a virus, viruses couldn't hatch.
The moment her phone synced with the notifications it started vibrating intensely, more so when she got a notificiation from a familiar name, one of her friends that she had meant to meet up with since moving to Japan, they hadn't had a chance to talk due to conflicting schedules.
"Hey Noah, long time no speak" She wished this could have been a casual conversation she really didn't want to have to be in such a terrifying situation in her eyes, "I think, no I know I downloaded a virus onto my laptop and its on my computer too and I am FREAKING out over here, I was checking my camera's photos getting ready to edit some photos I took today (I'll need to show you them I got some great ones) but I opened a file that said dgmn and a egg appeared on my computer and now my account is spamming you? I don't know what I've done."
Isla was quick to go on a tangent, she was scared and really, all she could do was tell a friend what was going down, she sat in silence waiting for a response, watching the chat as her account continued to spam the few people who tried to reach her, then it went silence, no messages, no bloops, nothing.
00:00:00
She felt her heart in her throat, 'Noah, it stopped'
And then the sound started, a virtual noise that wasn't possible to explain, the closest noise could have been dial up internet, with such a pitch it made her ears ring, it even summoned her dog from hiding.
The egg on screen wriggled and wriggled until, crack. Seconds after the crack, something, no, 2 things came out the computer. 2 white balls, staring right at her. "Did someone just do a real life copy and paste?" she grabbed her phone and took a quick photo of them, instantly sending it to Noah.
"I know it sounds hard to believe but, they just came out my computer screen? What do I do?"

It seemed some perseverance on Noah's part had paid off and soon he got a reply from 'CameraGirl' or Isla as she called herself. Soon he got a reply from the girl herself and not whatever this mystery hacker was, she greeted him friendly to begin with before telling him of her problem. She apparently downloaded a virus onto her laptop and was freaking out about it, which was understandable, however Noah had a feeling it was something else especially after trying to get a hold of her and was greeted by that mystery hacker. Isla went on to say that the file was .dgmn and an egg had appeared on her screen with a countdown timer.
Oh. No. What happened next was not what Noah was expecting of all, the timer had stopped and the next thing he knew he had been sent a photo from Isla showing two digimon in her bedroom it appeared, Noah wasn't too sure what room it was. But there he saw, two white blobs that Noah could only describe as digimon from his previous encounter. So it wasn't just him? Of course not, there'd be no way it was just him who knew of that world or even had a digimon partner but this was just so surreal. Noah wasn't sure what to do himself, could he tell Isla what he knew or was there a better way to explain this and who knows if those two digimon are even friendly, whilst they did appear to be in their baby stage there was no telling what they might evolve into and especially being in the human world made things even worse. Noah sighed and began to type a response to Isla.
I ... I think I can help you. This may be a bit out of the blue but it may be possible if we meet up. I can understand you not wanting to since we don't really know each other that well and we've just talked on here however those two white blob things ... They're called Digimon, it may be better if I explain in person. Noah paused for a second before sending his last message, he couldn't believe that he was asking to meet up in person and it wasn't something he'd really do but this situation wasn't something that could easily be explained or even solved. He looked down at his digivice and began to wonder if DemiMeramon could appear in this world too ... That was a thought for another time though as Noah gave himself a reassuring nod and sent his last message.
Or at least try to.

Isla hesitated before typed her response, the offer of meeting up with one of her mutuals online was something that was always spoken about but to actually do it was such a different situation, "sure," she frowned slightly the need to expand to her respond annoying her, "Do you want to come to my place? It's small but, I don't think I should shove them into my bag, I don't know what I should do," the 2 balls squeaked and started chasing each other around the room.
In a matter of seconds what was once a silent purgatory became a squeaking, barking party of 4. Isla watching as the 2 yukibotamon chased each other around blowing bubbles at each other while her Sharpei puppy chased them both barking and yapping wanting to be apart of whatever game was being played, her tail wagging as she popped the bubbles on the way.
She quickly typed out her address, "I just moved in, well last 4 months and my house is still mostly boxes, but I can make a rocking cup of hot cocoa, doors open so just knock or help yourself in,"
The American stepped in and tried to grab the dog, "Hey stop chasing them, you're scaring them!" she shouted as she managed to snag the collar of the dog.

Noah was a bit surprised that she did agree meetup even going to inviting him over to her living space which he wasn't expecting but it made sense. With the two Digimon in the real world she couldn't exactly just bring them to a cafe, Noah nodded to himself and took note of the address, Ok, I'll be there asap Noah replied and locked his computer before getting ready to head out to a girl's place. If it was any other time he wasn't sure how he'd feel about that, nervous to say the least and he already was. With a quick drink of water, Noah put his shoes on and grabbed a jacket before he began to make his way to Isla's place.
It turned out where she lived wasn't too far away, about forty minutes give or take. A bus was needed for this which got most of the distance covered but it was still at least a ten to fifteen minute walk. As the boy walked he wondered what he should say and how he was going to explain Digimon. He racked his brain trying to think of how to start but it wasn't an easy process especially with someone like Noah, he had brought his digivice along but he wasn't sure how useful that was going to be and DemiMeramon hadn't said anything to him so it didn't seem like they could communicate which would have greatly helped. With a sigh, Noah pressed on and soon found the apartment building that Isla lived in and it looks rather recently built, maybe a year or two ago. Noah pressed on, taking out his phone to look at the note he had made as he figured he'd lose a piece of paper and didn't want her address getting found by some random stranger.
Two minutes later, Noah was standing outside Isla's door looking nervous and a bit anxious. Whilst he knew the purpose of this, it was just a bit strange to him as it had never happened before and he wasn't the real social type of person. Sure he was trying to be better and this first step wasn't something he'd really do but considering what it was about made all the difference. Slowly, he raised his hand and knocked on the door a few times. Noah knew she had left it open but he didn't feel right about just entering into someone else's home.

Isla being a clueless human left a bowl of milk on the floor for the digimon to drink at, every so often they'd run to the bowl, take a few sips before dashing around once again. There was no stopping the small balls of energy from having their mad dash, for their size it surprised Isla with how high they could jump and how fast they could run(?). In the 40 so minutes of waiting for Noah they had already managed to exhaust her dog.
Gazing off to the side, her little sharpei puppy slept peacefully sprawled across his back, revealing his tummy to the world prepared for all the tum scratches he could have ever wanted. The moment the door was knocked it changed everything.
"Oh no," she whispered.
In those few seconds it quickly sped up again, the puppy instantly on his feet barking and yapping at the door ready to guard the house with his life while the 2 yukibotamon decided it was time to hide with all the loud sounds happening. The ginger quickly ran to the door and held onto the dogs collar as she opened the door, "Noah yeah? Come on in, don't worry about your shoes its fiiine, would you like a drink?"
It was her first time having a house guest, her home was a small traditional studio building and there was organised boxes everywhere with photography equipment askew as well as a few mugs dotted around the place. The dog was quick to sniff the intruder, "This dumb mutt is Koda, if you want I can shut him away."
The 2 yukibotamon peered over to the commotion, one sitting on top of the boxes and the other hiding behind Isla's bag.

Noah watched as the door opened to reveal a young girl, about his own age give or take a year, he could hear a dog barking and it seemed to be going a bit crazy judging by the sounds. The ginger haired girl was holding her dog by the collar, it seemingly wanting to escape or jump on Noah - maybe both. Noah nodded as she spoke and walked into her apartment, he looked around the apartment at what he could see. It didn't look like she lived with anyone else, though there were a bunch of boxes lying about so it was a bit hard to say. Noah looked down as her dog began to sniff him curiously before looking up at him, Isla called him Koda and Noah crouched down to be roughly eye level with the dog. The blue haired boy smiled at the dog and gave him a rub on his head with a smile. "No, no. I don't mind if he stays out" Noah replied to Isla as he stood back up. It was then that Noah noticed, or rather heard, a noise causing him to turn around. There he saw two small, white, spherical digimon. "I wonder what their name is" Noah muttered softly before he approached them slowly, they watching him carefully as he did so. He crouched down slightly to make himself appear more friendly as he didn't want to frighten them. "Have they talked yet?" Noah asked Isla as he turned his head to look at her as he wasn't sure what stage they were in and he didn't know if all Digimon could talk at any level but from what he could recall they seemed to be in the very early stage. Digimon were still a mystery to him that he had only begun to explore, his knowledge was limited but hopefully he could help Isla out ... Somewhat.
Noah then proceeded to fumble in his pocket a bit and took out his Digivice to show Isla.

Isla sighed with relief that he was fine with the dog staying out, she always felt awful when she had to shut him away, especially as until the 2 baby digimon came around she hadn't had anyone else living with her. She shook her head, "They haven't said a word, just tons of squeaks, as if they were babies," she explained, leaning against the wall before looking over at Noah's digivice, "What is that? Is it like a phone?"
She shook her head and mentally kicked herself, she felt like she should know more than she currently did. She definitely felt out of her element at this moment. "I feel like I was thrown into a baby sitting job, I don't know their names, I don't know what they eat and all they do is run around," she sighed with a slight frown on her face. The ginger felt like she should have been doing more in the situation. "How do you know about them anyways?"
The digimon that was hiding behind the box, hopped closer and whined, a large growl appearing from its body. They didn't seem threatened but more on the lines of hungry? Isla couldn't say for certain.

The two Digimon hadn't spoke, so they were most likely still in the very early stage of their forms. As Noah showed Isla, she went on that they hadn't eaten as she didn't know anything or what to do which was understandable. He nodded slowly before he was asked how he knew about them. "Well, to start with. This is called a Digivice, it's um ..." Noah trailed off slightly as he wasn't too sure what the Digivice was about, "I believe it's linked to your partner or in this case, partners." He said slowly before returning it to his pocket, "Do you have any meat? Digimon seem to enjoy meat, I think most are carnivores ... It's hard to say. Noah then asked as one of the two digimon whined.
Noah was surprised at himself as he was talking to her as if they were good friends, his social awkwardness wasn't stopping him. Maybe it was due to them both having Digimon and that they had already talked, online at least, so they were somewhat familiar with each other. He nodded to himself, "They're called Digimon, Digital Monsters is their full name. So that 'virus' you encountered was just a program, a Digimon." Noah said as he began the introduction to Digimon or tried to. "I had a similar thing occur. The chat program we use, I encountered some random messaging me who lead me to ... The train terminal." He continued recounting part of his own journey.
"I don't know much, I only recently got involved with this ... Other world." Noah said as he found a seat to sit back in and let out a deep breath. "They'll get bigger and start talking. My own partner is in their own world, I don't know if she can come to our world but if those two came through your computer-" Noah continued, "-anything is possible."

Isla nodded and pouted, "No fair, I didn't get a digivice," she huffed before nodding, "Yeah I got meat, it was meant to be for Koda's dinner though," she sighed, "I'll probably have to go to the convenience store to get enough to keep 3 pets fed now." It wasn't going to be a stress for her money wise, but she didn't even know if she could trust leaving the digimon alone. She listened carefully to everything Noah had told her, interested in what he had to say, "So you have one too?"
She smirked, childishly for a moment as she headed to the fridge to grab some meat, "Y'know you're pretty confident, for being in a girls house, especially considering its the first time we met," she teased, bringing the meat towards the digimon who both began jumping up at her desperate for feeding, "It's like feeding 3 dogs," she exclaimed, especially when the dog ran over wanting some of the food too. Isla smiled slightly and shared the meat, out giving them small strips one at a time.
"Noah?" she mumbled, she wanted to act mature like an adult but she was slightly worried, "What is this other world? Is it where they are supposed to be?" she wouldn't admit it for certain but she liked having the newly born digimon around, but now she felt guilty, maybe they weren't supposed to be here. And maybe she wasn't the one who was meant to have them.

"You may still yet get one, or once they Digivolve they can fill you in." Noah replied as Isla mentioned she didn't get a Digivice as she listened to what he had to say, she even mentioned she'd have to go to the store to be able to feed them. Noah nodded and then again as she asked if he had one two, "Uh yeah, she's a DemiMeramon, kind of a floating fireball." Noah replied trying to describe what his partner digimon looked like but he was pretty spot on with that. Then she decided to tease him about being so confident in a girl's apartment. It was almost like a snap back to reality and the redness of Noah's cheeks couldn't get any more obvious, he stammered a little. It was true, his sudden gain of confidence was a like a shot of adrenaline almost. Isla was also kind of ... Maybe ... Yeah she was cute, who was he kidding.
He watched silently as she fed the digimon, and her dog, they happily eating away at strips that she pulled apart for them. Her sudden voice snapped Noah out of a trance as his focus turned to her, "Uh, oh. That's the Digital World, I've been there, once." Noah replied in short as that confidence faltered now that it had been pointed out which Noah wished he could keep, but his 'shell' wasn't fully cracked.
"It's um, hard to say. You got the egg, it's not something that just happens to everyone." Noah replied as Isla seemed a bit ... Saddened, perhaps? It was hard to tell but her tone had shifted slightly as he had made mention of the Digital World. He wasn't exactly experienced with girls and he did what he could to cheer her up. "Those two are most likely safer here with you anyway."

Her cheery attitude returned after he reassured her, and she pulled the 2 now tired digimon onto her lap, "What's the digital world like?" she couldn't really imagine how it would look. It was out of her limits of imagination, but it was somewhere that sounded interesting and fun, but perhaps a bit dangerous too. She was a photographer, she had the imagination for what she could see, not for something like the digital world.
Everything was surreal for her, sitting on the floor of her first house, with 2 digimon, finally contacting one of her friends she hadn't had a chance to meet until now. It was a lot in one go. She still wasn't over the fact she was a well known photographer and she hadn't had much of a chance to think about it all until now. The reason she ran around across the city was to avoid this new sense of 'is this all real?'.
She leaned back, her back hitting the wall, "Thanks Noah, I would have lost my head," she stopped in thought for a moment, "How about since these guys are now tuckered out, we go to the convenient store, I'll buy you something, my treat," she felt like she had made things odd, inviting him to her house. Her first house guest and she was still a bit of a windup merchant, "They should be fine right?"

It appeared as though Noah had done a good job in raising Isla's happiness level, her cheery personality returned as she asked about the digital world. "Uh ... Well, it's pretty big. It's like another planet entirely I suppose. It's really something." Noah replied before pausing for a moment and thinking. "You kind of have to see it, to believe it." He then added and smiled softly at the red haired girl, she relaxed and rested against the wall before thanking him and suggesting they went to a nearby store, she even offered to get him something as a treat. "Probably a good idea, they'll need food. I can help you with that so we're even." Noah replied with a playful wink at the end before letting out a soft chuckle. "They seem pretty worn out ... If we're quick they should be ok." Noah then stated as he put a finger to his chin, contemplating what they should do. "Your Digimon appeared in the real world, my partner is over in the Digital World so I'm not too sure in this case." He then added before giving a slight shrug with a smile and with that he moved over to the door to wait for Isla to get ready so they could head out.
Noah would wait for Isla as she got herself together and got what she needed, especially her apartment keys. He'd walk with her as she lead the way to the convenience store as Noah wasn't really sure where to go in this area, he hadn't been here before but he had a rough idea of the street names.
