Lance let out a loose sigh and stuck his hands into his pockets. So far this minor shopping trip was turning out well; he had a basket full of mostly single use and single make items for work from his workplace. It was one of the few gas stations that gave its employees a discount; a sizeable one at that.
So it made shopping here easy; but he could of sworn before he got off of his shift that he had restocked everything. So why was he staring at a pair of missing oreo's and chips? Had a customer come in within the time he clocked in and out? Sure it was late in the night but that didn't mean they could just avoid restocking; they had night rushes and they had really bad morning shopping sprees. With the worst of it being in two hours from now...
The youth frowned and scratched his head; he hadn't heard the bell go off for entering customers and dave wasn't the sort to leave his cashier unless there was at least two people on the job. With marcus out on sick leave and Jin coming in at three rather than two they were down to one person on shift.
So then who had taken the chips and oreos? He started digging through the bags; figuring they might of gotten re-arranged by Dave or perhaps a customer that was in the bathroom...? He mumbled under his breath somewhat quietly; not loud enough for Dave to hear but certainly if another individual was close by.
"I swear Dave, if I find out you've been taking bags and not making mention of them... Tch..."

She had given her word not to cause trouble in the human world. Even pinky promised with the human she had piggybacked with. After they had parted ways though the tinkermon was back to her usual shenanigans. The day was filled with exploring and harmless mischief making, and to her credit no one had gotten hurt from her pranks. This being her first day ever in the human world Pandora wasn't too keen on making waves, especially as a rookie level digimon.
'When I get back up there, though; watch out world! I'm coming for you!' thought the tinkermon with a soft chuckle to herself.
Sneaking into the gas station had been easy enough. She had simply floated in behind the last patron, and then took her time browsing the various foods and drinks the store had from various hiding places. There was a camera in the store pointed towards the merchandise, but she was careful to stay behind shelves, boxes, and other objects that could cover her.
The first thing she decided to try were a bag of mini oreos. She hid at the back of a mid-level shelf while snacking on those. Being able to eat real food was a treat! They weren't programmed to be delicious, not like the food in the digital world was. Soon after she turned her curiosity to the various chips that concealed her from the world. She had never seen wasabi being used outside of sushi before, so she grabbed one of the bags and pulled it back to her hidey hole.
She had only just begun to bite into her first chip when she noticed a human had stopped in front of her shelf. Her eyes widened slightly at the realization, but she slowly kept on chewing anyways trying to soften the crunches in her mouth. Well, that as well as her delighted groans at the chip's taste. It really did taste like wasabi and it was great! Pandora's enjoyment was short lived unfortunately.
The tinkermon didn't even have time to get up from her seat when the human's hand swept aside several rows of bags in search of something. Wincing slightly as the ceiling lights made her world suddenly much brighter Pandora slid back against the shelf with one hand held up defensively, and the other still holding onto her chip. The digimon blinked at the owner of the hand, not really sure what to expect next. Thinking things were going to get messy in short order she took one last bite from her chip, the action slow and deliberate as to not startle the giant any further.
Crunch. Crunch. Crunch.

With him checking through this just trying to make sure that the bag counts were correct he was given the surprising sound of movement mixed with the resounding crunch of chip. His eyes widened a little bit and the human paused. Was there a rat or something that managed to pull away that bag of chips or the oreos? How on earth did they do that? So of course he'd shift a little bit and peer into the area that he heard the sound of munching coming from.
The little groan however alerted him to the fact it was not a rat and his eyes locked on a small human like form for all of six or so seconds. Their hand was held up defensively and they were against the back of the shelf. Eating a chip of all things! The human blinked very slowly and frowned behind his doctor mask. He'd nervously look around before nervously leaning in trying to not alarm Dave; while his right hand started digging for his digivice he'd speak in a hushed tone.
"H-hey you... Uhm..."
The human paused after a few moments and glanced up at the camera's. Did this digimon know this was like the one blind spot out of their security system? Or had they just chanced upon it? The middle of the store could be seen from the register if the employee wasn't sitting down. Which Dave was thankfully doing.
"W-what are you doing in here...?"

Naturally when the human started rifling through his pockets for something a concerned look crossed Pandora's silent expression. His greeting almost went ignored because of that, but she managed a quiet reply echoing his words.
"Hey you."
His following question made her blink at him again in uncertainty, but her posture visibly relaxed somewhat seeing as how she wasn't in any immediate danger. Her legs slowly uncurled out from under her body and stretched forward so she was properly seated again. The tinkermon's spiked boots even began to wag idly from side to side in a childish manner as she wiggled her feet inside them. She knew exactly what he had meant with his inquiry, but she chose to feign ignorance. At least for the time being.
"Chips," she offered matter-of-factly, bobbing the chip she had in her hand up briefly as a means of an answer. "I'm hungry."
Pandora's eyes lowered to watch the human's hand again, cautious of whatever he might be pulling out. As she took another bite into her chip her free hand moved to rest upon a long, thin red object laying on the shelf beside her. From a human's perspective the object might have looked like a straw at first glance, especially when the barbed tip of her spear was hidden underneath another bag of snacks. After swallowing her most recent mouthful Pandora softly piped up again leaning forward slightly with a confused expression.
"What are you doing in here? Nothing deviant I hope?" As her voice trailed off her gaze went to the human's pocket for a third time. "This is a public establishment, you know."

Lance froze when the digimon spoke; he looked somewhat out of sorts for a few seconds before sighing gently. Just how damn deep were the pockets of these cargo pants? He knew he put the digivice in there somewhere. He'd frown a little as he watched her somewhat carefully. Her answer to his query however was met with an awkward neck scratch.
"I mean I can see that but... those aren't yours right...?"
He'd sigh a bit gesturing at the chips somewhat carefully. Her moving to the 'straw' didn't really bother him too much. He didn't know about the spear that she had; nor did he really know what type of digimon she was. The man blinked a little bit however when she addressed him again.
He quirked a brow for a few moments and turned a slight shade of pink before shaking his head. He'd finally manage to pull out his digivice and show it to her. With a somewhat [incredibly] awkward look on his face; or at least half of it as the other part wasn't visible due to the doctor's mask he was wearing.
"Y-you're one of them right? U-uhm.. Uhm... Right so. You need to pay for those with money... Ma'am? Erm.... What's your name?

The human didn't hesitate to point out her theft. Even when caught red handed as she was Pandora didn't expect that response. She had anticipated him to question his current mental state, or maybe blame alcohol or some other external force for this strange encounter as his kind were prone to doing. The tinkermon squinted in genuine puzzlement, up until he finally pulled something from his pocket. A digivice!
Her eyes widened in recognition of the item. At first she thought she was in some real trouble here, but his following comment again had her silently at a loss for several seconds. One of them? What did he mean by that? He clearly knew that he was dealing with something inhuman but very real, but there was a lack of conviction in his voice.Pandora's gaze bounced from the digivice, to the human's face, and then back down to the digivice before she finally stood up.
Crunch, crunch, crunch, echoed the soft noises from her mouth as she took another bite into her chip.
In a slow, timid manner she approached the stranger, dragging her spear into sight behind her. The tinkermon stopped her lazy pace near the edge of her shelf and leaned forward to study the technological trinket with a thoughtful "Hmm," for emphasis of her contemplation. The image displayed on the digivice definitely wasn't her. It was another digimon with a horn. The idea of finding a partner was nothing more than a dead dream to her now, though.
"You're one of them yourself. Aren't you?" The question was thrown back at the human innocently enough as she straightened up, her curious stare locking onto the young man's own eyes. Her head tilted slightly to the side in inquiry as she took yet another bite from the chip in her hand. After swallowing she would properly introduce herself.
"I'm a tinkermon, but you can call me Pandora! I know this isn't my food, but I don't have any human money and I haven't eaten all day. I didn't think anything small would be missed, but I.. I guess I kinda-maybe-sorta-did go overboard?" As her voice trailed off in obvious guilt she looked down to the chip in her hand with well rehearsed regret. Then her gaze slowly looked back to the bag of miniature cookies that was also visible at the back of the shelf now. She chuckled nervously at that before staring back up at the human.
"I don't wanna go home yet, but I wasn't prepared for my first trip here, either," she admitted with a sigh, "What should I do?"

Honestly; when he was explained to it first hand he had doubted it, worried about it and figured that the other person was lying. But it gave very probable reasoning to what was happening here which helped him from freaking out or thinking this was something paranormal. Her puzzlement was fairly easy to see; honestly he was sort of in the same boat as he figured he would of met one that was outright hostile or something before a somewhat friendly one.
It wasn't exactly hard to see that she recognized the digivice either which only led to Lance sighing softly. Gazing back at where Dave was still sitting. He could still see the top of the other humans head but thankfully it seemed as though there was no customers for a little short spell.
Was she interested in this digivice maybe? The human didn't really know; but her sudden approach and the realization that the straw was a spear made the human do a double take. He'd frown slightly the edges of his mask tugging downwards with it.
He didn't get to see the image of the gabumon on the screen as it was but that didn't matter much when she asked basically the same question that he did. He'd scratch his head and quietly pocket the digivice.
"I guess? I don't really know how all this works yet."
THe young man sighed softly and stared at the smaller digimon; curiosity in his eyes as she introduced herself and gave reasoning to why she took what wasn't rightfully hers. Lance felt somewhat bad at berating her and let out a small somewhat earnest sigh.
"Can't really blame you there I guess, I'd be in the same shoes if I was a uhm... Digimon I guess."
The young man's frown vanished and he'd glance towards the registers again. They didn't have any money, they didn't know what to do and they were hungry. This rang the same bell as his friends that he made in the homeless shelter. But it's obvious he couldn't bring them there. Biting his lower lip he'd shake his head and gesture for her to come out so that he could take the items she had eaten from.
"Can't just let you struggle on your own; I'll pay for what you opened but you need to come with me so you don't do this again... My apartment is pretty close by so you'll be safe there while we figure out what you can do. Bright side of this is I can just put this as part of my break food purchases as I didn't write down anything yet..."

So this human wasn't just a tamer, but a brand new one at that? The tinkermon's interest was certainly piqued, and what a nice human he was turning out to be, too! His ultimatum was acceptable for now. If she found his apartment lacking she could always slip away later.
"Huuuh," cooed the digimon as she stared up at the human in mild surprise before smiling warmly. "I hope all humans are as nice as you!"
Pandora then scampered quietly back to her hiding spot. She was quick to return with the open bags of chips and cookies in both arms before hopping onto the young man's palm. Still holding onto her spear with one hand she looked a bit cluttered, but appeared to handle things well enough.
"What's a human apartment like? I've never seen one before! What kind of food do you eat? You don't have to worry about dangerous things there, do you?" There seemed to be a million questions in her eyes, but thankfully she spoke those few in a hushed tone to not alert this 'Dave' person. Her face lit up with one last question.
"Oh! What's your name, Mister?"

Lance was fairly surprised that the digimon actually agreed with him; he was sort of expecting them to be extremely distrustful of him considering that they had just met after all. The sides of his doctor's mask tugged upwards as he gave a small but cheerful smile back at the digimon.
"I wish that was the case..."
The young man sighed and watched pandora go back to her hiding spot only to come back with the two items that she had eaten from. She could carry a surprising amount of stuff for her size; though he wouldn't mention that considering it could be a touchy subject. At her questions he'd blink a few times and scratch his head.
"Well it's basically a smaller house, one bedroom, one lounge room, a kitchen and a rest room. Mine's a bit more spacious than you'd expect when you see the building I'm in but... Uhm, Well I bake a lot of stuff and I have a habit of ordering out a lot too. Uhm, no. I might living in a busy part of town but security for the apartments I live in is pretty decent."
The young man hurriedly took them towards the back; giving dave a return wave as the other man wasn't getting up from his eseat. No customers this late in the night wasn't a surprise. It was always super calm before five after all.
He'd look down at pandora before giving her another smile. Offering her to sit ontop of the table as he wrote up the items that she had eaten on his 'break food' list. Honestly the fact they were allowed two items per break was crazy; but considering how well this place did?
"It's Lance, Lance Medinn. Now lets get you back to my place so we can figure out what you can do here yeah?"
Thankfully with lance only living about a block from where he worked it didn't take him long to take pandora to his home. Though the fairy would likely have to reside in either his hoodie pouch pocket or backpack this didn't stop him from hurrying along.
The jangle of keys would sound twice before the door closed behind him for a final somewhat solemn time. The young man let out a soft sigh and would take his backpack out setting it on the counter before opening it up. Whether to let the fairy out or just take her food out and place it on the counter. The young man gazed around; noting the distinct lack of any of the people he ussually let stay here.
"looks like they cleaned up the place pretty well this time... Wonder if Tia got that job yet, she was really excited for that..."
The young man rubbed his neck and went over to the counter top next to the fridge; grinning a bit as all of his ingredients were set out like he had asked. The young man quickly took off his gloves and doctor's mask; setting them aside so he could get working on the baked goods.
"Last nights bread was pretty good, but I think I can do better hmm hmmm.... Oh! Make yourself uhm.. c-comfy pandora. The remotes on the table in front of the couch and uhm..."
He'd pause and scratch at his head.
"If you're hungry for more than chips and cookies there's some food in the fridge. Sushi, some left over Americanized lasagna and some fast food from McDonalds. Unless one of the guys ate it... but they usually don't touch my left overs."
The young man started to get working on the mix for his bread, humming softly to himself as he went. It was easily noticeable that he wasn't looking at a recipe but he was going through the paces as though he knew how much of what he needed and what containers he needed to use.
The apartment itself was set up like how he said it would be, though it was much nicer kept than you would expect a single person to be able to manage. All considering with the amount of shoe imprints in the door matt it was obvious he wasn't the 'only' one living here. The amount of books, both study material and not were lining the few shelves he had out and the few doors that could easily be seen led into his bedroom or the bathroom. The entire home only had two major closets and a third smaller one right next to the bathroom itself. Though that last one would struggle to open even when gently tugged at.

The way in which the human explained his apartment made it sound like the relevant equivalent one might find in Terminus City. Somehow, Pandora was a little disappointed by that revelation, but from what she knew of humans their lives sounded quite dull in comparison to digimon. She hid her disillusionment with a simple tilt of her head before being carried off to a back room.
While Lance did his paperwork for the snacks she had opened Pandora sat on the table to watch, munching on another chip. She surmised that the young man worked here after all that had happened, and it made her wonder if it was commonplace for humans to shop for groceries at gas stations. 'Maybe he gets a discount?' she wondered silently to herself as she watched the pen leave lines of ink on the paper Lance was working on. Her attention immediately snapped back to Lance when he mentioned having to find something for her 'to do' here. That sounded like work to her, which she supposed was fair, but it still left a pang of regret in her mind.
"Y-yeah," she echoed softly before biting into her chip again.
Pandora opted to ride along in Lance's hoodie, laying down in the front pocket with her hands behind her head. It was a bumpy ride at best, but a free ride was still free. Once they were inside of his apartment she didn't wait to be given the all clear before leaving his hoodie. With her spear in hand she hovered up near the ceiling to get a clear view of things while bee lining a lazy trail after Lance.
"Tia?" repeated the tinkermon quietly to herself as she looked down at the human before looking around again to make sure they were alone. "Are there other people here? Other digidestined?" The way he made it sound, there were other people living here. However, she didn't see any signs of more humans lurking about at the moment. She wasn't so sure she wanted to live in a place where multiple humans who were aware of the digital world could keep an eye on her.
"No thanks. I'll stick with the food I already started eating," she said with a shake of head as she descended onto the counter. The fairy fished out a cookie from her open bag before floating up to sit on Lance's right shoulder to watch what he was doing. Exploration would come later, most likely while Lance slept. Making bread didn't sound terribly hard. Mix everything in a bowl then slap it onto a tray to bake. Without any baking references in sight though she simply assumed that he knew what he was doing.
"No cakes tonight?" she asked in a slightly hopeful tone as she bit into her cookie. "Or is this a specialty bread? Does Tia make bread too?"

The fairy didn't seem terribly pleased at the idea of working to make up for what she had taken. Or at the very least she didn't seem terribly sure of herself; maybe it was because she was in a new area entirely? He didn't really know honestly and it made him slightly unsure how to approach this without making it seem strange.
He just hoped that she'd be able to get into the swing of things if she was going to stay in this area else it would probably be very rough for her otherwise. The young man sighed and looked over his penmanship before they left; figuring that Dave would be more surprised that the youth had even taken anything as he had a habit of making his own food at home and bringing it to work.
"Tia? Oh. No She's not anything like Me I guess, she's... One of the few people I let stay here while they're down on their luck."
The young man sighed and shook his head; still mixing things up on the counter. He'd blink a few times as the fairy took another cookie; she seemed very curious to see what he was doing. The young man paused after a few seconds however when she asked about cake.
"Well I could make a cake, but it'd be pretty basic. I don't have any frosting or toppings for one. So it'd just be the 'fluff' as I like to call it."
His hands were a blur as he mixed everything together, quickly depositing everything in a baking pan that was more or less what he used to make bread properly. He'd hum to himself a little bit and glance at pandora. Quirking a brow the young man shook his head a little bit at the second question.
"Tia does most of the cleaning around here; she's really good at that and she's also really good at fixing stuff. But cooking and baking is kind of... well she's not terribly good at it. Last time we almost had a house-fire."
Lance let out a soft somewhat scared chuckle at that; he still remembered the burns on his arms as he had to put out quite a bit of flaming furniture with his blanket as the fire extinguisher ran out about halfway.
"And this is banana bread! It's kind of like a desert; sort of fruity taste. I don't have actual banana's unfortunately so I had to use a substitute. But hopefully next time around I can. It'll take probably about an hour or two if everything goes right."
He'd pick up the bag of cookies and chips before taking a seat on the couch. Sighing gently and shaking his head a little bit. He made sure that pandora could get easy access to the stuff inside; thankfully he wasn't hungry at the moment but he knew by the time the bread was done he would be.
"Honestly I wasn't expecting to meet one of you guys so soon; and I barely know anything about how things work. It's gonna be weird I can tell. I still don't even know how to work this thing."
Another sigh and the youth pulled out the digivice; staring at the strange item for a long awkward moment...

The fairy remained on Lance's shoulder while he worked, careful not to fall off as he went about making his banana bread. She didn't have much to say in response to his answers, but she nodded when she felt appropriate and kept an eye on what his hands were doing. In her less than humble opinion the human was limiting his own prosperity by letting people freeload, but maybe there was something she wasn't seeing just yet. Convinced that there was an ulterior motive to his outwardly helpful nature Pandora waited until he was done making his bread to act upon her suspicions.
"You've probably seen other digimon before. You might not have known what they were at first glance, though; there are ways for us to look like you humans," offered the tinkermon as she floated in the air beside Lance on the couch, hovering on her stomach as if laying down on nothing. Propping her elbows up and resting her chin in her hands she kicked her feet up in the air behind her as she eyed his digivice curiously. "Those things aren't meant to be used by my kind, so I couldn't tell you how they work? I'd say you gotten over the weird part just fine, though? You seem pretty comfortable around me, at least?"
The tinkermon looked up from her prone posture at Lance with an innocent smile.
"If you're still nervous... Would you like to play a game with me?"

All considering how he was introduced to his digivice Lance shouldn't be surprised that his first meeting with a digimon on it's own was equally as tame. It had happened during his shift; while he was on break or off of work. Along with it being away from anyone that really could of made a fuss about it.
He'd blink a little bit and scratch at his cheek looking uncertain that he would of ran into a digimon before. Though before he could voice this she mentioned that there was a way for them to look human too. He'd pause considering it for a second and stare at her for a few long moments.
"Then why aren't you disguised as one? Wouldn't that of caused less trouble for you?"
His brow furrowed and he'd glance at the television for a moment. Thinking if there was anything he'd want to even watch or suggest to this digimon. Finding nothing immediately in his head he'd sigh; seeming somewhat out of sorts.
"I guess, maybe I should of asked that guy more questions eesh... Maybe when I see another one I can ask them what this is about."
He'd hold up the device again and look it over curiously; unsure what on earth he was looking at. The sprite of a creature was playing across it. But he didn't even recognize the symbology or location it was showing him. It was just.. wierd. Like there were coordinates and everything but they made no sense to him.
"well. You're just kind of like the people I let stay here. You've got your own problems, you've got answers but you don't know them all. And you need a place to stay until you figure out stuff; well... You should have a place you can stay rather than needing one I guess. So I suppose that comparison is helping me not freak out as much."
The human tilted his head and quirked a brow at the mention of a game. With a shrug he'd gesture at the coffee table between them and the tv.
"Sure, we can use the table if that works for you. What game?"

Pandora avoided Lance's gaze when asked why she didn't look like a human. A nervous chuckle would be the only answer he'd get right then and there, hinting at a vague reluctance concerning the subject. Instead, she'd wait for him to continue on to another topic.
"I see.."
Lance's self-described generosity sounded strange to Pandora. People could fall upon bad luck for no reason at all, at no fault of their own. It was something the tinkermon found unfortunate, but not something to concern herself with if it didn't affect her to begin with. To let a complete stranger into your home, however? Strange indeed. She supposed she couldn't complain at any rate being the beneficiary of Lance's policy of kindness.
Looking towards the coffee table when Lance agreed to a game the fairy smiled and floated over to it. She hovered above the table and held her hands above her head.
"I like to call it: 'reading your digital destiny,' but it's just a regular tarot reading," confessed Pandora as she playfully stuck out the tip of her tongue between her smile. In her hands above her, the digimon's tarot deck poofed into existence. The cards were human-sized for ease of handling for her patrons, and displayed pictures more in line with the digital world. The deck floated on its own before separating itself, each card moving onto the table below to form several neat rows and columns. They all landed face down to conceal their nature.
"You can pick six," instructed the fairy with a sweeping gesture down to the cards, "..just flip them over, and we can go over them one by one! To make it interesting, for every card I read for you, you can ask me a question. Sound fair?"

To mostly everyone what he did here was strange; no one ever thought he was doing this out of the kindness in his heart. They always thought he got something from it; but honestly seeing these people safe when they had it so rough was something that put Lance's mind ina furious path of thinking to help these people out.
As for why she hadn't taken a human form? Well the tinkermon seemed to want to avoid the topic so the human didn't press for it. He'd sigh softly and scratch his head; if he had gotten hurt from one of the individuals he let in they would of had no end of trouble in the community in some fashion or another. So there was at least a b it of reassurance in there. He'd blink a little bit when pandora smiled; even going so far to return it before leaning forward placing his elbows on his legs.
"Digital Destiny? That's... interesting."
He'd raise his eyebrows and blinked owlishly when the cards suddenly popped into existence. The young man stared at them for a few moments before picking the first card; placing it facedown for a few moments.
"I'll pick one at a time, seems more fun that way. And all right well... lets see what starts it all off right?"
He'd flip the first card and look up at Pandora quirking a brow at her. Wondering quietly what this one would mean...
