Caprimon's Out of the Bag [Open 2/2]

It had been yet another painful day at school. Ryou had spent most of his night just gaming and had gotten little over two hours of sleep, so he was barely paying attention to class and even fell asleep a couple of times out of pure boredom. Luckily, he didn't get in trouble for it, but it was still a draining experience, especially since he had to help clean up the school afterward.
Grabbing himself a can of soda, Ryou walked through Miyashita Park as he usually did. It was pleasant to get a refreshing nature walk after the soul drain that was dealing with school and judgemental classmates and teachers. He decided to take a break, sitting down at a nearby bench and dropping his backpack on it. In his pocket. his cellphone was playing some electronic music that went through his headset, isolating him from the world.
He leaned back against the bench, taking a deep breath of fresh air while surrounded by trees and grass. Not many people were at the park yet, so he was taking full advantage of that fact. He finished off his drink and, seeing a trash can a little ahead, he stood up and lazily walked up to it.
When he walked back to the bench after throwing the can out, he noticed that his bag was open and looked strangely... puffier. He lifted it and looked inside, only to be met with... horns? Horns that suddenly sprung up on him.
"GAH!" He yelled out as he stumbled back, falling on his rear and making his headset fall off his head.
Looking at the bench, he saw a weird round purple and white creature with a tail that was almost as big as it was. The most noticeable trait being the metal helmet of sorts it wore, which also contained two big metal horns on top.
"What the hell is that?!" He yelled out again, being both startled and also a little scared.
"Shhh! You're making too much noise!" The creature called out, glancing to the sides to see if there were other people nearby.

That same day was one of those rare days Buck Garnier, 13, didn't go home with one of his many friends after school - though, then again, those days were becoming a little less rare ever since he met that stranger in the train station, went to another world, found that weird machine, and met that bear creature. So, instead, he was sitting many feet up in one of the park's many trees while talking to the odd machine and the Bearmon stored inside it. "Are you sure you don't want out? Who cares what other people might think?" But the Bearmon didn't respond. "Alright. Suit yourself."
It was in that moment when someone across the way sat on the same in-training form as Buck's new friend, and the kid had a great view of it from his spot in the tree. Excitedly, he called out, "Hey! Hi! Hang on!" in perfect Japanese despite his Canadian origins. Then he jumped down a couple branches before dropping straight to the ground and approaching the stranger. "That's so cool! You're a Tamer, too?"

While he was still recovering from the shock, Ryou suddenly heard a new voice coming from behind him. Turning around as he began standing up, he found himself staring down at a kid who, perhaps not surprisingly, seemed to be pretty interested in what was going on. However, what really got Ryou's attention was the fact that he asked if he was a Tamer "too".
"A what?" Ryou asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Oh, so you're already familiar with Digimon then!" The creature spoke up again, sounding pretty cheerful
"Digi-what?" Ryou turned around again to look at the thing that popped out of his bag.
"Digimon! I'm a Caprimon!"
Ryou only seemed to grow more and more confused the more this Caprimon creature spoke. He stared at the oddly cute cheerful face it was making for a couple of seconds, before looking back at the kid who had dropped by.
"You know any of this?" He asked, not really sure why he was asking a kid for information, but at this point he was so lost that he really couldn't be picky.

Buck seemed to have no hangups about talking to a stranger or to a stranger so much older than him. He just kept on grinning and shouting excitedly. "Yeah! That's a Kapurimon - or, wait, you said it a bit different? Whatever. But no, dude, check it out!" Buck dug into his front pocket then and displayed his own D-3, which was white, red, and still new and shiny. "Here, this is Wylde! He used to be a Kapurimon before he digivolved. Check him out!" Indeed, if Ryou would have looked closely at the device's screen, he would have seen an image of a Bearmon turning slightly around to make eye contact with the stranger before politely, apathetically waving.
When he spoke, though, it was to Buck. "Please call me Bearmon."
"But that's what you are! I don't call myself person." After that little squabble he turned back to Ryou. "He doesn't talk much. Anyway... yeah. Cool, right?"

The kid ended up knowing a lot more than Ryou expected him to. He showed the teenager some small device that Ryou had never seen before and upon looking at it more closely, there was a bear creature there awkwardly waving at him who then spoke to the kid.
"Is this some kind of advanced virtual pet thing?" Ryou asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Hi!" Caprimon bounced on the bench, hoping to be seen through the screen even though he was nowhere near it.
Ryou looked back at Caprimon, then straightned himself up and sighed. This whole day went from unpleasant to just downright nuts and he still wasn't sure if that was a positive change or not. Still, this whole situation left him too curious for him to just grab his things and leave.
"Where did you get that? Something that well made must be really expensive." He asked, placing his hands in the pockets of his jersey.

"Where'd I get it? Uh..." Only now did Buck seem to hesitate to speak to the his elder. He doesn't get it! He must not have one! Did I jump the gun? That kid Johan and Dokamon had certainly impressed upon Buck the importance of keeping the secret regardless of what the boy had said to Wylde in the tree. So he completely changed course and weaved a lie on the spot. "I-it's from the mall! That game store. Japan always has the coolest games and gadgets and technology, you know? You should get one!"
Bearmon, however, did not do well in selling the lie. Since Buck was still holding the machine up, he turned around behind the screen and glared daggers at the young man who, apparently, had just insulted him. Just to prove his point, the Bear digimon suddenly realized, popping out of the screen in the form of a beam of raw data that quickly configured itself into a Bearmon. While Buck anxiously scanned the area for any possible witnesses to that highly noticeable event - thankfully finding none - Bearmon turned his nose up at Ryou, crossed his arms, and looked off to one side as he coolly rebutted, "I'm no pet."

The mall, he said. That was odd, Ryou had gone there a few times to check the new games available but he never found anything of that kind. The way the kid started acting nervous all of sudden made it all the more suspicious and the teenager's eyes narrowed just a little as he looked the at boy.
This meant he didn't pay attention to how Wylde or Bearmon or whatever it was didn't like his little comment, which also meant that when the beam of light came out and the thing actually materialized right in front of him, that was enough to make Ryo jump and take a few steps back.
"O-Ok, my bad." He apologized, eyes still wide-open from that scare.
"That was pretty mean." Caprimon spoke, snickering at the situation. "Why are you asking him about it anyway? You have one too."
"What?" Ryou turned to the Caprimon, still wearing that same expression of confusion that had been in his face since this whole exchange started. "No, I don't. I never saw that thing before."
Caprimon then began digging into Ryou's backpack and suddenly pulled another of the devices from it, this one being mainly red but with white accents, with his mouth and tossed it on the grass next to Ryou, who just stared at it in disbelief for a second before crouching down and picking it up.
"... I don't get it. What's going on here?" He asked, looking at the kid again, trying to keep his cool and not make him any more nervous.

The responsible side of Buck wanted to withdraw Bearmon to keep him out of sight and reduce the risk of witnesses, but since he was still trying to get on the digimon's good side he let the ursine do as he pleased. The sight of a digivice did at least calm Buck's nerves about himself blowing the secret; it seemed he was indeed speaking to a Tamer, albeit one who didn't really understand it yet. Then again, I don't really understand it yet either. Still, the boy tried to explain it the best he could. "That's your partner! He comes from another world. Don't think about it too hard. Sometimes humans and digimon pair up and become partners. Sometimes you get two digimon. Sometimes you get way more, and sometimes you can become a digimon. How trippy is that?" While Buck rambled, Bearmon constantly scanned his surroundings, appearing to only barely be listening.

Ryou fully stood up and looked at the kid as he explained the situation. It wasn't a very detailed explanation, but it said the important bits at least. So these things came from a different entirely and often paired up with a human. In his case, Ryou had been paired up with... Caprimon.
He looked at Caprimon, then at the bear, then back at the kid, remembering that he had said something earlier about how the bear used to be a Caprimon himself in the past. Which was... odd, they weren't even the same color, to begin with.
"Alright, and you said earlier that this guy..." He pointed at Caprimon with his thumb. "somehow turned into that guy." He pointed at Bearmon. "How does that happen?"
"We become stronger!" Caprimon eagerly chimed in. "I want to digievolve so I can help others!"

Apparently, Bearmon had been listening. Good thing, too, because that was one subject about which Buck still knew absolutely nothing. Bearmon didn't make eye contact with anyone in this little gathering circle, but he did address them all. "It's not just strength. Part of our power comes from the Tamer. The closer the bond, the more powerful a digimon can grow."
"Then why don't you ever even talk to me?" Buck interjected.
"I came. Don't rush me." Come to think of it, that was true. Some instinct did guide the Kapurimon to the Terminus train station, and right on site he digivolved to Bearmon when they met. This was what convinced Bearmon that this boy was a Tamer and made him just curious to come to the human world with him.
"Look, it's weird. It's like a caterpillar turning into a butterfly, but if it happened in just three seconds."

The one who ended up answering the question wasn't the kid, but Bearmon instead. So they become stronger by getting a closer bond with their human partner and after they get to a certain point, they can evolve. It was both bizarre and interesting to hear something like that. As much as Ryou didn't want to be the kind of guy that treated everything like a game, this did sound like something out of a video game.
"That's still getting stronger though!" Caprimon interjected.
"A caterpillar into a butterfly, except instead it's a fluffball with a tail turning into a bear." Ryou sighed at the absurdity of his own statement and ruffled his hair as he tried to come to terms with that information. "Well, I understand it a little better now, I guess." He shrugged.
It was lucky that someone happened to be around to tell him about all those things because he had no idea what he would've done if it wasn't for this kid showing up out of nowhere. Speaking of which, there was still something he didn't know.
"My name is Ryou, by the way, Yours?" He asked, just to change the topic a little to something more normal.

"Buck!" The boy showed his fellow Tamer a wide grin and a hand offered to shake. "Or Bucky. Doesn't matter. And he's-"
"Bearmon." It seemed the digimon interjected just before the boy could assign him that ridiculous name again.
"And you're Kapuri- uh, Caprimon? But, yeah! Imagine it! What are the chances we'd have the same digimon?" Bearmon didn't even bother himself with explaining that it didn't quite work that way, that a digimon's past or present form isn't necessarily an indication of their next work. The ursine digimon supposed it wasn't information they needed that instant and that each would figure it out eventually. "Have you seen the digital world? It's so cool! I went to this city, Terminus, and it was like New York City or Toronto, but it was full of digimon! It's a whole world full of digimon, and you can get there just by taking the train. How cool is that?"

The boy's name was Buck and he said so with eagerness. Despite the amount of crazy stuff happening around him in the last few minutes, Ryou was at least polite enough to shake the kid's hand and smile back at him, even if his was a lot more subdued than Buck's.
"Yeah! There's a lot of different Digimon, so it's pretty crazy that this happened." Caprimon stated, looking pretty amazed by the coincidence.
It did sound like the chances of that were low, but Ryou didn't comment on it because something much more important came out. That being that Buck had been to the Digimon world, which he called the Digital World, and apparently arrived there by simply taking a train there. There had to be some kind of condition for this to happen, otherwise, this kind of thing would've been pretty known by now.
"Wait, you just took a train and got there? Where?" He asked, now starting to get a little worried if random kids were being able to this weird world filled with potentially dangerous creatures.

"The Shibuya Train Terminal. Where else?" Buck shrugged then but didn't quit smiling kindly. "Of course, it's behind a weird high-security door that only opens with a digivice. But you got one, so no problem. Wylde, we have got to go back there some time!" Bearmon looked at Buck when addressed but otherwise didn't show any indication or acknowledgement that he'd heard anything. "Oh. Best part? It's free. Pretty slow waiting for a Trailmon, but, still, free. And talking trains? How cool is that?"
Bearmon obviously didn't share Buck's enthusiasm about the whole thing. He was just kind of there, listening and watching without showing much reaction to anything said, positive or negative.
"I actually got my digivice 'cause I tried to sneak in there. Turns out I didn't have to sneak after all! Then you just go down an elevator, wait for one of the Trailmon, and off you go."

The Shibuya Train Terminal was the obvious response, but Ryou wanted to make sure no curveballs would be thrown his way. Fortunately, it looked like in order to access the train to the Digital World, you needed one of those devices that the two of them had, or at least, he assume that was what Buck meant with a "Digivice". At least that meant no random people would be getting themselves in some real trouble by accidentally taking one such train... that apparently talked.
"Talking... trains..." He repeated, as if he wanted to make sure he had heard that right. "Right. I guess I should check that out later." He ran a hand through his hair, not looking very excited at that prospect.
It was already pretty late as is, so it was better for Ryou to just head home for the day and try to have a somewhat normal night. Though... there was the issue of what he was going to do about Caprimon. He sure couldn't have him just hop around the house while his parents and sister were there. Ryo looked at his device, then back at Buck.
"How did you put Bearmon inside this?" He asked, drawing attention to the digivice.
